Great steak! Had the dry aged ribeye with Mac and cheese. As good of a steak as you will find in Atlanta. Our server was knowledgable and friendly and the manager comped a bottle of wine due to a mix up in our order. The burger was good as well as their special salad. Ambiance is nice and casual. I would say that pampas and oak are very similar in food quality. I do like oaks atmosphere better though.

Their bread is warm, soft and powdered with salt. Butter is always a smiling accompaniment. They are very generous with seconds and thirds. :-) Started with the George's Bay Scallops. Fabulous! It was so good we had to order this appetizer again. The Lobster Cocktail was good - but it had nothing on the scallops. The Pan Roasted Cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts were amazing as well. I will definitely order this again. Also ordered the Local Bibb Lettuce Wedge. It was good - I asked for extra buttermilk ranch, which they make in house. Beef Short Ribs - wow. I tried a couple of bites - this dish was delicious!! It was tender and extremely flavorful.. Apple and Pecan Galette - I would order it again. Presentation and service were top-notch. Erica was outstanding - even the manager, Kevin, stopped by to check on us. All in all, it was a great experience.

Over priced and under seasoned steaks as referenced in previous review. Expensive but nice ambience. They are going to pick up their game to be a top rTed Atlanta Steakhouse

This is review for BRUNCH only. Had the joy of coming here for brunch yesterday, and I was fairly impressed. Brunch menu had a variety of options, and the price point isn't nearly as rough as the dinner menu. We ordered mimosas and Bloody Mary's, all of which were great and brought out fairly quickly. For brunch I had the steak and eggs which comes with a filet and bernaise sauce, along with scrambled eggs and grilled tomatoes. I thought the steak was a little on the salty side, but still very tasty. Some other entrees at the table with their chicken and waffles which was simply amazing, and an eggs Benedict which was decent, nothing spectacular. We had a side of hash brown potatoes that were outstanding. When they were bringing us our food, one of the poached eggs fell to the ground - no big deal to us as they cleaned it up quickly and brought out another shortly. The nice surprise was they took all of our drinks off the bill, about $35 worth for the mishap. Kudos to management as we did not even ask for this, but it's always nice to see a restaurant take the initiative and do such a thing. Hoping to come back for dinner soon.

Colletta was our first choice tonight but there were no reservations around the time we wanted, so we booked 7:00 at Oak steakhouse located right next door. The restaurant was gorgeous and very masculine with wood paneling and cool modern light fixtures. Service was also very good. Now for the food. We ordered the cheese plate and charcuterie board. I loved this. For $18 each, it was plentiful and we almost got full of this. The pate was really mousse like, the salami was perfect with the homemade pickles. The cheeses were paired well with nuts and honey, some type of jam and a really awesome Sriracha mixed with honey sauce. I ordered the scallops with corn risotto and bacon as my entrée. It was too salty but they were quick to take it away and get me another plate. This time it was much better and I was pleased to see it was quite big despite being a small plate. Now for the bad. The boneless ribeye was extremely dry. We could not even eat it, even doused in the steak sauce it could not be saved. Quite disappointed considering this is a steakhouse and for $60+ was expecting more. Overall I would try this place again, maybe it was an off night.

My fiancé and I went here a few weeks ago, early on a Monday evening, We ordered the appetizer scallops with sweet corn risotto to share which was 'to die for' good. We both loved every bite. I mentioned that I would like peppercorn sauce but it was not on the menu as an option. I was pleasantly surprised when my steak arrive with peppercorn source. Nice touch. We also had the mushrooms which were delightful. And the cocktails were delicious. Bottom line - Great food and excellent service but I have to say that there are several local restaurants where we could have had the same thing for a great deal less money. Cabernet for one and although not local but still more reasonably priced Bistro Nico in Buckhead.

I came here for a wonderful anniversary dinner with a reservation for 2. The host originally sat us in the wine room but it was a 4 person table/chairs setup and freezing. They had many other open booths in the next room so I asked to move. They then sat us in a beautiful, large booth in the next room and met our server a couple minutes later to order beverages. The rolls came out but the server put them on the edge of the table and ran off like he had somewhere to go, so we reached over the huge table to bring it closer. I started with the Arugula salad which was extremely overdressed though I couldn't find our server and he never came around to check on us. I eventually told the gentlemen who picked it up after I was finished and the manager came over. He was very nice and pleasant to speak with. He gladly took the salad off the bill to compensate. Our server then started checking up on our table regularly. Our main entrees came out looking delicious. I chose the Grouper which came with a Spring Succotash. The presentation of the food was beautiful but it was very spicy and my nose couldn't stop running. I asked the server what was in it that made it so spicy and he said he wasn't sure so he went to ask the kitchen. It was hot sauce! If I knew there was hot sauce on the dish at all, I wouldn't have chosen it. The manager brought over a new Succotash without the hot sauce but now it had no seasoning and was super bland. They could've added some garlic and changed it up perhaps. Regardless, I appreciated the kindness of the manager. He was walking around to other tables checking up on them as well and sparking good conversation. Unfortunately I just had a bad experience here.

My husband and I had a very nice dinner here this past Saturday night. I had a great vodka + honey and cucumber cocktail and he had an old fashioned with a bourbon recommended by our server that he particularly enjoyed. With our entrees, we both had a glass of malbec; they had a nice wine list. We started with oysters on the half shell which were lovely. They were served with some freshly grated horseradish that was a surprising and delicious twist. Next we split the arugula/endive salad which was salad perfection. For entrees, DH enjoyed the 12oz NY strip and I had the 8oz filet; both cooked MR. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were both total steaky awesomeness...a nice sear on the outside and not overdone in the center. For sides we had the potato puree (DIVINE) and a squash/kimchi/peanut vegetable melange. It came out totally kimchi-less and was not an Asian flavor profile at all. The only reason we ordered it was bc the other stuff sounded good, so that was kind of a waste (although it was fine, just something I could have made at home). For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate brownie (yay GF dessert!) which came with ice cream and some caramel corn pieces and was totally delish. Why 4 stars instead of 5: 1. It's a tad overpriced. We're willing to spend $ on nice food and we have enjoyed dining at pricey places like St. Cecilia, King + Duke, Bacchanalia, etc. I get it, everyone just loves Avalon and there's a ton of money flying around that area (Hello, minks on the skating rink in Winter lol)...but it's still Alpharetta... 2. Our server, while SUPER knowledgeable and very nice, was a hair annoying. Like just a little too much info when describing the steaks, drinks, visiting the table one too many times. That said, I'd rather err on the overly knowledgeable side than clueless side (totally my pet peeve in service...it's literally your job to know what you're serving people) so this is just me nit-picking. 3. The steak sizes are massive. I love a 6oz filet. I don't love steak leftovers. I can eat a whole 6oz filet (if DH has a bite or two). 8oz is too big. They need some smaller steak cuts. All in all, a very good meal, nice atmosphere and a solid menu. We will be back!

An amazing steakhouse ... pricey ... but totally worth it. You can customize your steak so I got the 16 oz. ribeye oscar style (crab and hollandaise on top). Not sure how much they charged for that but it was really good. I wish they served a smaller ribeye though .. the only smaller steaks they had were filets. We had a big party and our server was awesome. They even brought us out free truffle fries and brussel sprouts. All their sides were amazing ... but the fries and brussel sprouts are a must. We were able to get a reservation for 8 people the day-of on a Monday easily. Perfect place to celebrate or bring a date.

Came back Sunday to retry brunch with my honey and her daughter. Utilized the valet parking this time, which was super convenient! We were greeted by Malcolm (MOD) and seated at a comfy booth with Neil waiting on us. We started off with the waffle for her daughter (they were able to do that on its own w/o the chicken) and the beignets. Must say, complete turn around from first experience! The waffle was amazing and her daughter did NOT want to share it (I did get one bite and that was enough to know it was a very good waffle - sweet and warm). The beignets were very moist and warm, perfect. Apparently, their pastry chef was in house this time and that made a difference. I think it helped that it was also not Mother's Day and a 3pm brunch this time. We ordered the Paloma flower and mule drinks. Both hand crafted drinks were exceptionally good! The house made ginger beer with the mule was amazing, and the jalapeño infused tequila with the Paloma flower was just the right combination. Loved the spice of the drink! Highly recommend both of them! Our brunch meals were also top notch. The chef was able to craft a very good omelette that wasn't on the menu, and it was probably one of the best I've had in awhile. All fresh ingredients (loved the bigger chopped onions in it)! The home fries with it were ok but I was full by the time I got to them. My honey loved the frittata she ordered. We did order a side of their fries, and they are amazing. A certain must try for anybody visiting. Malcolm stopped by a few times, which was great, and Neil did an excellent job attending to us. Hands down, favorite part was the honesty by Malcolm. We mentioned we didn't like the cinnamon roll last time, and he went to the kitchen to bring one out. He came back and said it wasn't up to his standards. That alone was huge, and rare to hear shear honesty. Overall, big difference! Loved my omelette and think that should be added to the menu! This place is only going to keep getting better. Kudos to Oak and for Kevin on having us back.

We went to celebrate my Dad birthday there, so we had couple of appetizers before main course. Foie Gras was amazing, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Scallops nice and crispy, though little to salty for my taste. Lobster pot pie, hmmm, was alright. Goat cheese agnolotti were very nice. Ordered steaks, prime rib eye, which was very tender and delicious. Dry aged NY strip was phenomenal, it would melt in mouth. It's worth every dollar. Deserts were so so.

Great date place. I liked my lamb but I didn't love it. My Mom ordered the same thing and didn't think the meat was flavorful. We both agree the squash dish that accompanied the meal however was amazing. I think I would have preferred a little more sauce with the lamb. A friend got the Tuna and said it was disappointing. My husband loved his steak and asparagus! I guess he was the smart one, they are known for their steaks. :)

The service was a bit slow - given the number of waitstaff I saw waiting over by the kitchen I suspect that it was the kitchen that was slow, though I can't be 100% sure. I don't necessarily mind a leisurely dinner but it felt like it took forever for the salads to come out (I wish I'd checked my watch to see how long it was). I had the 8 oz filet - it was fine, but for the price it cost I'd expect something more on the caliber of Bones, and this wasn't. I would probably give this place one more try and order one of the non-steak entrees (those seemed more reasonably priced) to see how those are. If I could, I'd give this place 2.5 stars rather than 3, for the price and the speed of service (or lack thereof).

Very busy, nice atmosphere. However, you are a steakhouse, you can't run out of the 12 oz filet! And when you charge $50+ for a steak, all of the service needs to be spot on. Waited on someone to take our order for drinks, then waited on the drinks. Then they couldn't recall who ordered what, and placed the wrong dishes in front of us and moved them around more than once. To be fair we brought our own wine and the staff was very accommodating as such. However, you generally don't mix one vintage with another, so a little training is in order. The manager made a point to visit which was nice, and they provided free desert which made up for some of the pain. All in all I will probably give them another try. I think the effort is there.

Food was great but the hostess with long blond hair was incredibly rude. Treated us like we were an inconvenience. No manners or people skills. Our waitress had no personality and no tact when approaching the table, cutting into conversation without an excuse me, sorry to interrupt, or a polite hesitation before bombarding us. When she saw us leaving there was barely any acknowledgement as she walked by with no eye contact. I hate to mention this but if we are going to spend $500 for 4 the service should be professional, respectful and pleasant. We have had far better service at all of the other Avalon restaurants. Work on your staff training and we will be back otherwise we will go elsewhere where our business is appreciated.

We were taken to Oak for a business dinner. It was fantastic. My steak was excellent. The Brussels sprouts are amazing. The fries we amazing too. The service was excellent.

Service was good, not really blown away like I would have liked at that price but nothing to grip about. Food was also good , again not blown away. We had the filet and ribeye , filet was perfect , ribeye was good. The app was the scallop and risotto with bacon. That I could eat at every meal. Sides were their version of Mac and Cheese , good . The other was a squash something , my wife said it was really good. Yes it's in Avalon and yes it was nice to be out without kids but ... Meah One app, two steaks, two sides and two drinks each ran about $175 before tip. Worth trying and forming your own opinion . I would come back but maybe order only one side .

Update since last review: After the slow service I experienced last time, the manager Kevin went out of his way to make it up to me by treating my boyfriend and I for dinner. Upon arriving, we were happily greeted and immediately sat by the reception desk. We had the best view of the open kitchen. One of the waiters, brought us water and our table waiter came immediately by, explained some key menu items, describing why some of the dishes are so popular. We started with a paloma flower cocktail, scallops and salad. Attention to detail all the way from how they split up the food on 2 dishes to the brilliant tastes, textures of the food. The cocktail was so tasty and refreshing with a nice hint of habanero spice, the scallops were beautifully seared and cooked paired with pork belly and the salad had candied walnuts, goat cheese and apples. We were surprised with a small tasting dish of the short rib ravioli which must have been infused with unicorn tears--the short rib stuffing was divine and sat on pea purée, crispy bacon, onions and pickled asparagus. For our entree, we decided to share the aged bone-in signature angus ribeye along with truffles frites and adult Mac n cheese. The ribeye was probably the best we have ever had! And we've had our share around Atlanta like Hal's, bones and in other states, the Oak Steakhouse ribeye is the best. The char on it is divine and will make your eyes roll back not to mention all of the flavor and juiciness. The truffles fries and Mac n cheese were great items as sides and everything came nicely presented on a cutting board. For our dessert, we decided on the flourless brownie and the waiter was observant in hearing me say how much I also love pineapple upside down cake, so we ended with both and served with espresso yummy!! Definitely a great dining experience. What a treasure and great addition to the Avalon! Will definitely be back as this is our favorite place now :) Old review: Unbelievable food! I went here based on the yelp reviews and brought my 6 girl friends as a GNO. We waited a little while for a table, so we sat at the bar and had some drinks. The bartender was very prompt and friendly. Once sat we all agreed to order a few appetizers and share a few entrees. The food came out rather slow especially the Ribeye. I had to ask for the manager to find out what was taking so long. It was delicious once it came out. I would definitely come back based on the food and hopefully the service will be a little quicker next time and I can rate it a 4 or even 5 star rating :)

THIS IS THE NEW SPOT TO BE! We dined here Saturday to celebrate a birthday. Took a few moments to be seated but given it was a busy night. Our waiter Craig was flawless! He went over some signature items and made some great recommendations. We had a few different dishes so everyone could try something. And needless to say everything we tasted was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend the bread pudding and of course the Dry aged NY Strip! Could not have asked for a better dinning experience! Thank you to the entire staff at Oak for making this a memorable experience! We will ABSOLUTELY be seeing you again soon!!!

Alpharetta's best new upscale steakhouse!! Have been here twice since it opened, and have not been disappointed - their level of service is top-notch and the food is of exceptional quality. They also have a very extensive, quality wine list - love ordering the Hendry Zin from Napa - so yum!!! And they will not hesitate to chill your red wine and decant it upon request. The first time we went with another couple (party of 4) and we started with the Oysters Rockefeller which were good. For the main course, we ordered the 44oz. Tomahawk chop with a couple of sides (roasted root vegetables and potato puree) and wow- the steak was incredibly flavorful and was cooked absolutely perfect. On the second visit, we hadn't booked a reservation, so we managed to get two seats at the bar for dinner. This time we tried the pork shoulder ravioli for starters and it was wonderful. For the main course, we ordered the 8 oz. filet and beef short ribs and split the two. Once again, the steak was cooked to perfection, incredibly flavorful and the short ribs were falling off the bone, so tender, no knife needed. Ordered the truffle frites as our side and they were completely addicting. Each time we've gone here, we have had absolutely no room for dessert. Next time we'll need to pace ourselves. This place is not cheap- you can easily drop $200-$300 for a party of 2 depending on what you order. Definitely a place to splurge if you are looking to be spoiled with an excellent meal. The staff is all friendly and they go above and beyond to make your dining experience a memorable one. Check this place out if you can! 3rd visit - another spectacular meal! Ordered the pappardelle bolognese and the slow braised pork shoulder, both of which were incredibly flavorful and delicious. For the first time, we ordered dessert, which was a sticky date pudding... OMG total yum!! Cannot say enough great things about this place!!

This place is tough to review. The fact is that we spend a lot of time (and money) at Avalon and have eaten at most of the restaurants there. We kept talking about hitting this steakhouse and finally just pulled the trigger the night our son graduated from middle school. It wasn't busy at all, so no wait was nice. The hostess who sat us was very pleasant and took us right to a nice big table next to the window facing the sitting area outside. I liked the atmosphere (dark with candles) although my wife and daughter said they were really cold from the air coming down. Our waiter seemed nice and knowledgeable. But it was strange that he took drink orders from the rest of my family then walked off to get them without asking me. While I was looking at the menu my wife had to call him back so I could order a cocktail. The food was good. My son and I both had steak, and it was not the best but very good. I travel a lot and eat at steakhouses all over the country and would give the ribeye a 7 out of 10. I do like mine extra rare and it was cooked perfectly rare. The roasted vidalia onions appetizer was really good. I ate almost that whole thing myself. The girls said the pasta was good, the burger was OK, but both agreed the fries were excellent. Refills were a little slow but not bad. The manager did come by to check on us once or twice. The weirdest thing about the night, and the main reason for 3 stars vs higher, was the sudden swarm near the end. About 5 minutes before they were scheduled to close, every waiter and waitress in the place suddenly surrounded us and cleared the table without being asked or prompted by us. It was very off-putting to my wife and she basically thought it was strange and rude. She said she probably wouldn't come back because it made her feel rushed and uncomfortable. Even after that we wanted dessert, and it seemed as if we were expected to pay and leave but ordered it anyway. We got some pineapple upside down sundae thing and it was amazing. Probably the best thing out of everything we all ordered. Overall not bad, but I expected a little more for the price. And being rushed while spending $250 in a restaurant is not something my wife and I really enjoy. I wish this place luck but there are many better steakhouses around Alpharetta.

Update on my previous review. The manager invited me back for another dinner at Oak Steakhouse. I was impressed by the waiter(Bill). He was professional and attentive to our needs. They made some changes such as the bread. I really enjoyed the butter that came with the bread. I had the chicken which was very good and my date had the lamb, she said it was was excellent. The sticky toffee pudding cake was awesome!! Best I ever had.

Unfortunately the only thing good about our dinner was the service. The waiter was good but the food was Awful. I do mean Awful! I do not use that term lightly. I was excited to have a great dinner for my 10th anniversary but was tremendously disappointed. The cocktails were terrible as well. I am not sure that this post will make it on the reviews, if it does I would recommend Pampas over this restaurant any day.

Back again for brunch. I didn't realize until we walked the last time that they offer valet, a definite perk given the crowds at the Avalon. Once inside, we were quickly ushered to a nice round booth for the three of us. I asked to speak to Malcolm, one of the managers there, and he was truly sincere and very welcoming. Our server Neil was equally as good, and attentive but not overbearing. Very pleased with service this time. I got my daughter the waffle, instead of pancakes. I always end up cutting them up, so I decided to try a bite. Wow. Delicious! It was nice and warm and fluffy and had great flavor. She snapped them up. Malcolm brought some cinnamon beignets to the table, and we polished those off as well. The temperature was better, they were warm, and tasted better this time, too. I decided to try an Avalon Mule. It's a ginger beer made in house with vodka. It was really good! My boyfriend's drink was a handcrafted tequila drink. I dislike tequila, but it didn't really taste overpowering in his drink with the jalapeño in it. It was terrific as well. So next...I ordered the vegetable frittata. It's almost like an omelette but thicker. It came with tri colored peppers in it, and roasted potatoes. It was yummy. It also was served with a salad, and the romaine was so fresh and crispy. The dressing tasted kind of like Caesar, but not very garlicky. I love garlic, so it could have used some, but the dressing was still good. Ordered a side of truffle fries, because they are just fantastic. I can seriously eat the whole bowl. So now? I think it's time to head back for dinner, and try their Italian restaurant across the street. Thanks Malcolm and Kevin and staff for a terrific brunch!

Had a party of 8 on a Monday night. None of us had been before. In short, the food was excellent. About half of us had 8 oz. filet oscar style. One had prime rib, one had strip steak (I think). Not a single complaint. All were gushing about how good the food was. The service was remarkable. While we waited for our food, they brought us two servings of their truffle fries (which were amazing). For sides we ordered mushrooms, root mix, cavaletti and cheese and broccoli au gratin. All were great. The mushrooms in particular were very, very good. They comped us a serving of their brussel sprouts and cauliflower. That was incredible. Next time, we may just order 4 of those. Chocolate cake was too rich. Carrot cake was pretty good. The toffy dessert was delicious. I have been to over 60 countries and have eaten at A LOT of steakhouses. This is one of the best I've had. Highly recommend.

Went to Oak to celebrate my 18 years anniversary so I figured cost should not be a concern for quality food. Boy, was I wrong. I started with the stake tartar which was very acidic as if someone was trying to mask the smell... I couldn't taste the meat at all. For entrée My wife ordered the filet and I ordered the rib eye. The steaks were appropriately cooked but nothing to write home about... for $50 a piece I would expect an amazing steak, which was not the case. For sides, we got the mashed potatoes, which was bland, and the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts, which surprisingly was the best dish of the evening. For the cost, it was very disappointing. I'm going back to my favorite, less expensive, and much testier - Stony River...

Alpharetta's newest steakhouse! I have heard of the one in Charleston and everyone always raves about it. I was so excited to learn that it was coming to Avalon. I am not the biggest fan of stuffy steakhouses but the Oak Steakhouse staff did not match my perception of how I picture an upscale steakhouse. I went for a work dinner and every person we dealt with was knowledgeable and friendly. The group was large with over 10 people and the wait staff made everything seem seamless. They went above and beyond to make our experience outstanding right down to the general manager coming by our table several times to greet us. The food was top-notch with everything coming out hot and fresh. I ordered the filet and chose two different sauces to go with it (one was horseradish and I cannot remember the other). This was the best steak I have ever put in my mouth. SO full of flavor and cooked to perfection. A few people at my table tried one of the seafood dishes and loved it so if you aren't a fan of steak, they have a variety to choose from. The sides are meant to share and they have a wide variety to choose from including traditional and creative dishes. The staff is also great about recommending sides and appetizers so I suggest asking them what they think. They suggested dishes that I would have never thought to order and our table loved everything. We also had dessert and WOW! I definitely recommend this restaurant but be ready to pay (but so worth it).

2nd time here. Busy Friday night. Table was reserved and ready when we walked in. My wife and two kids had an amazing dinner, drinks and dessert. Jamie the manager and Eric the chef stopped by to check in. Steaks were cooked to perfection, burger is amazing, pastry chef nailed it. This is our new go-to place when we're feeling fancy and hungry. We'll definitely be back.

So my brother gives really good gifts on my birthday. This year he calls me early in the day and says what time can you come and eat? Ive got to take you to a really nice restaurant :-) I said 8. So I get to the restaurant and he doesn't really give me a choice he says, I've already ordered I've got everything set up don't worry about a thing. "Okay let's play." We split everything 50/50 First course: Pork Shoulder ravioli, Oysters Rockefeller and Steak tartare. I had heard that this place good but I had no idea. Second course: Hudson Valley foie gras, 12 oz. Cab Filet mignon & Cab Prime 16oz. Boneless ribeye with pan roasted cauliflower and brussels sprouts & truffle frites Third course: Sticky date pudding with brown butter ice cream this was my favorite!! Three different kinds of ice cream with these crazy little cookies (what is brown butter ice cream I think that's what it's called on my God) and some dark chocolate tart really nice strange dessert. The ribeye was my favorite of the meats they say it's "Wet aged" it was two times better than the filet in my opinion. The Oyster Rockefeller was my favorite appetizer I don't really even care about oysters but it was outstanding. And I would never have picked warm sticky date pudding but I really think that might've been my favorite part of the whole meal. I don't know if I've ever had a better meal in my life and I'm spoiled and eat really well. Thanks Oak people wonderful night with the wonderful brother!!!

First time in to the Oak, and it was an excellent experience all around. We had a 6:00 Valentine's reservation and were seated immediately. Our server was quick and efficient and never once did we feel rushed or lacking for attention. Tabe of 4, we started with steak tartare, pork shoulder ravioli, and oysters Rockefeller. All were very good, but the oysters were just outstanding. I love oysters and have had them in many places, and the chef's recipe on these was beyond memorable. The ravioli were flavorful and definitely worth adding to your next order The steak and lobster, though on the smaller side of the beef choices, was well seasoned and bursting with flavor. The meat was tender and juicy, and the fried lobster was good though not the show stealer I thought it may be. Truffle frites that we had as a side were mountainous. A dozen raw oysters were good, but market price was awfully expensive on this. Probably wouldn't order this again, but not because it didn't taste good. The wine and drinks were good choices, but the food was the real reason to come back, not the drinks. As many reviews mentioned, this place is spendy. That's not a secret, and you know that before you ever arrive. In terms of what you get for the money as compared to other restaurants like this, I'd say Oak is a definite keeper.

This is not a cheap steakhouse, so don't expect an inexpensive cut of beef on a weekday special. You will spend some money here. Service was very good on a Wednesday. I think they are still getting the staff up to speed, so it wasn't magical yet. Give it some time. The service staff was very attentive, didn't rush us, and brought out the items at a good pace. Seating was good on the side in a booth, but I'm not sure I would like the seats right in front of the kitchen. Had the Kumamoto oysters for appetizer. Good quality but higher price than expected. MP should be explained at ordering. Three guests had three different steaks - small filet, ribeye and NY strip. All were very good - the winner being the ribeye. Small filet had too much salt. Temperatures were spot on at medium rare as ordered. The Brussels sprouts and cauliflower side was fantastic - highly recommended. Tasted like some Asian/soy seasoning that was very good. Wild mushrooms were good side also. Sides are worth sharing. Pleased they allow a $20 corkage to bring your own wine. Service needs to improve just a little bit to get 5 stars. But very impressed for first visit. Best ribeye OTP in a while.

Love Oak in Charleston and was so excited that they came to Avalon. The restaurant is super cozy, dark, romantic and full of excitement. I love steak tartar and have ordered it here several times. The last time, it was very tangy; too much mustard. It was a tad overpowering. They were very gracious and comped a glass of champs as well as a divine piece of chocolate cake. The charcuterie board is outstanding!! I highly recommend making a reservation on the weekend, as it is very busy and seating is limited at the bar. Overall, a great steak restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere!

Overall: solid choice if you want an exceptional steak in a more updated version of the "clubby" steakhouse ambience. Service: 5 stars. Bumpy start at reception. Was quoted an 8:00pm seating. After standing around for 20 mins, the FOH Mgr approached us and bought a round of drinks while we continued to wait (nice touch). Once seated, service was exceptional - warm, attentive, without being intrusive. We never felt that we were ignored. What can set a restaurant apart in their service quality is how they handle issues. We sent back a fried lobster that was over-cooked.....extremely gracious handling and quick resolution. Throughout the night, i observed small service details at my table and others than indicated that the Management team really sweats the small stuff when it comes to service delivery. Food: 3.5 stars. We ordered a Filet and Fried Lobster. Filet was exceptional in temp and seasoning. The Fried Whole Lobster was another matter - I've had fried lobster tail many times, but never a WHOLE fried lobster. While it is tasty (once you arm wrestle it down), there seems to be a lot of waste in what you can't consume when compared to a traditional steamed lobster. Oysters Rockefeller were good, not great. Lobster Cocktail was meh. Roasted root veggies were okay, but a tad over-seasoned. Oak competes is a very crowded space for high-end steak houses in the Roswell/Alpharetta/JC area. They are able to offer an experience that is an interesting twist on the corporate chains and independents, especially if you want prime, dry aged beef. However, this is a spendy place - wine has a 300-350% markup, my slice of chocolate cake was $12.. Dinner for three + tip = $360 (even after the round of free drinks).

Stopped in for brunch and sat at the bar. The brunch atmosphere is casual and laid back. I tried the shrimp and grits and they were delicious. Fresh shrimp and stone ground grits. The sauce has a generous portion of bacon. Not quite NOLA good but definitely worth a try. I will definitely be returning to try the fried chicken and waffles and the steak and eggs. The bartender was friendly and prompt.

Great birthday dinner last night. Sat in the bar area because they were busy and had the best waitress, Mimi, take care of us. Both the food and the service were exceptional. Since we were not that hungry, we split our dinner. Starting with the Bibb Wedge Salad, it came out already split by the kitchen. Perfect size. Our entree, Beef Short Ribs, was one of the better dishes we've had in quite some time. Our side dish of Pan Roasted Cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts (which we have at many restaurants) was among the best. We finished the bday dinner with an outstanding Date Pudding with Brown Butter Ice Cream which was recommended by Mimi. Perfect.

Overpriced, horrible by the glass wine list, though only a $20 Cork fee. Bottle list barely better. $85 for a rib eye ala carte?! Charge more than Bones or Bern's for a new no name steakhouse?! You got some 'splaining to do Lucy. Bartender Mimi was smoking hot and great service, but everything else fell way short of expectations. Glad to see new fine dining in Shittyretta, but this could be way better. Appetizers were good, bone marrow bread pudding especially good side. Overall though Meh. Probably won't be back. Updated 4/17/15: I popped back in to try it. Found a decent Bordeaux and they remembered from this review and comped the meal, and made sure I had a fantastic meal this time. Mckayla and Mimi the bartenders are still great, and I agreed to try the $85 ribeye. OK, it's good. It's really good, but still $85 for a ribeye! Celebration night maybe?

We didn't have reservations on December 6th at night, but the host worked us in and we were seated immediately. We had pork shoulder ravioli as an appetizer along with oyster rockefeller. Both were outstanding. My husband had the hamburger for dinner and I had the cornmeal crusted grouper. My husband didn't even use ketcup because he said the burger had so much flavor. My fish was incredible! The mockcocktils are to die for if your pregnant and can't have alcohol.

Oak is the place to go in Avalon for a special occasion. The steaks are high quality and expertly prepared but the star of the show was the Bone Marrow Bread Pudding. Trust me on this - it's heaven! The service was excellent as well. Our waiter was very knowledgable. He even brought me a taste of both the hollandaise and bernaise sauces because I had a question about the difference (it's Tarragon by the way - in the bearnaise). The manager stopped by to make sure everything was tip top. Nice touch! This place rivals Bones and Chops and crushes Mortons, the Palm and Ruth's Chris. We will keep coming back for sure.

Its almost painful for me to give The Oak 3 stars. First of all, my significant other and I travel often. Very often to GA. This time we decided to stay in Alpharetta on the way to Atlanta to catch a flight. The bride and groom of the wedding we just attended decided to meet us there for dinner. After a quick bit of research I settle on the oak. We get there with no reservation the evening of Easter Sunday and are seated promptly. The waiter comes over. The bride immediately remarked, when he walked away, what a snot. The man had no personality. Granted it may have been because we don't look like your average 5 star diners, I digress. Anywhoo, everyone at the table orders a salad except for me, however once they show up I decide I am going to graze on my boyfriends. I put my fork down and the waiter literally grabbed the bowl from in front of me. I was annoyed, but didn't want to say anything and ruin the meal. I ordered the 16oz ribeye and the table shared the wild mushrooms & potato purée. The mushrooms were excellent. I wouldn't write home about the potatoes. The steak was by far the finest cut of meat I have ever had in my life, and I have dined at steakhouses all over the country. It was a TINY bit overcooked, nothing to complain about, but worth every penny of the $49. Unfortunately I had about 1/3 left I was planning on taking home, excused myself to the bathroom, came out and it had been removed. My review is based on the cut and preparation of the meat alone. The most pressing suggestion I have for management is to better train your waitstaff.

My husband and decided to dine at Oak Steak House on a whim with good word from a friend. We were not aware that we needed to make a reservation, but one of the hostesses (perhaps name was Mia, very sweet, brunette hair) was kind enough to fit us in without much of a wait at all. We sat in a lovely booth that made us feel it feel very special. The food was delicious! We started with the pork should ravioli, which was OUTSTANDING, followed by the steak tartar. My husband had the dry aged NY strip and I tried the grouper. Both were very flavorful and my husband says one of the best steaks he's ever had. Overall, a great dining experience. Ambiance was relaxed and we felt like we were treated with great hospitality from the serving staff. One of the best steak houses we've dined at in the Atlanta area. We'll definitely eat here again!

One of the best if not the best steak houses in Atlanta. Prices are reasonable for upscale steakhouse. Interior looks amazing. Staff is great as well, always happy to see you ;-)) Oh and the bar area is cool place to hang out for few drinks.

I heard great things about the burgers and fries here, so I had to stop in for a bite. Start with the good - they got us seated promptly on the patio even though it was 6PM on a Saturday. Brought samples of the beer before we ordered, waiter Ramon was awesome. Fries were great. Bad - burger was way overcooked to the point of being hard to chew. I ordered it medium. Also, they make their own pickles, which are great, but I had a whole clove of garlic on the bottom of my burger which makes for an over-powering bite. I spent $32 for one person.... the food wasn't worth the money.

Food gets five stars, service gets one. We were on time for our reservation, but still had to wait at the bar for 15-20 minutes. When we were finally seated, it took another 10-15 minutes for a server to appear, and then we only saw someone when we flagged down a passing server. Our service continued to be slow throughout the night. We were told there was no bread available, they had run out. Later in the evening the server came back and told us they 'found' some bread and wanted to know if we still wanted some. (No thanks.) For the first course we ordered the charcuterie and cheese plate, and we ordered a bottle of wine. The 2 plates for appetizers took up our ENTIRE table - they literally took our decanter of wine and our waters OFF of our table. I'm not sure why that made more sense to them instead of having the kitchen replate the appetizer onto a reasonable sized plate, but whatever. The food was GREAT! The pate was amazing, and the cheeses were DELICIOUS. For our main course we ordered the ribeye to split, as well as the bacon mac & cheese. It was really delicious as well, but we had to split everything ourselves. At this price point they should take care of these sorts of details in the kitchen. When we were ready to go, they boxed all of our leftovers in about 7 different boxes, then told us they were out of bags, and we had to carry 7 little cardboard boxes in our arms. UGH. I hope that all of the service kinks will be worked out as this restaurant matures, because their food really was great.

This was my first time at this restaurant but my husband has been to many of the other restaurants in the group. We had a total of 8 people. My husband and I split the wedge salad which was great. I had the grilled swordfish steak and he had the burger. The other people we were with got the 24oz bone-in ribeye and burgers. We got several sides to share including Yukon potatoes and cavatelli and cheese. EVERYTHING was delicious and amazing! Our waiter (I think Derek) and the manager (Malcolm) were very pleasant and made it a great experience.

Everything we have tasted in this restaurant has been top notch. The steaks are better than any I've had in Atlanta. In fact, my favorite, prior to now, was Rathbun's. I now do not have to drive all the way there for an amazing steak. I'm thrilled to have met Oak and their top notch chefs. Kevin Krapp, the GM, is warm and inviting. The staff are all amazing with their service and kindness. It is a fabulous experience all around. Don't miss the burger, the mushrooms, and the banana peanut trifle. All delicious.

This place is amazing, and it definitely isn't your grandmother's steakhouse. There is not an ounce of stuffiness or pretension in this place. Nor a baked potato in sight. What a great addition to Alpharetta. The ambiance is perfect. The service is warm and friendly and the food is culinary perfection! I had the 16oz ribeye and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Probably one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. We shared 4 sides and every one of them was delicious. The cocktail list is fun and inventive as well. We will be back soon!

Disappointing. They are still suffering through some growing pains with service. I ordered the strip and got a ribeye which they rushed to replace and it came out rare. I didn't want to hold up my company so I picked around it. For the price there are better choices.

I really really wanted to love it here. We sat at the bar and it was disappointing from the start. We waited to get served or even acknowledged but nothing. One of the bartenders was drying glasses and the other serving customers. Finally I had to ask if we could get service. We started with apps and they were average with exception to the scallops. Those were incredible. Fries were cold and cauliflower Brussel sprouts were way over dressed. Meat plate was okay. I can live with that stuff but what really ruined it for us was the staff. Our bartenders stood right in front of us and gossiped about other staff. None of the staff seemed friendly or welcoming at all. It was actually uncomfortable. We didn't stick around to order steak because we were just too dissapointed by that time. I would rather spend my money on average food with amazing staff. Hoping Oak steps it up in this department.

Overall subpar food. Chopped salad should be renamed as the "chop it yourself" chopped salad. Overall pretty boring salad. Foir gras, oysters, and carpaccio were all OK but biggest issue was the steak. We ordered the ribeye and strip. Both steaks arrived of fajita plates ... Not just visually unappealing but unappealing in the sense that two metal objects rubbing together when cutting is awkward, loud, and unappetizing. Also noticed that both steaks were brushed with some sort of herb butter- the thyme was very overpowering. In addition, both steaks were screaming for salt! Brussel/cauliflower combo was drenched in sauce but frites were tasty. Apple dessert was super dry/dehydrated and chocolate cake special was in a similar state. The manager was nice enough to comp the desserts. One more turn off was the chef/cook eating behind the line- after he put the foir gras in his mouth he reached out to grab garnish and then feel a steak. Maybe we will give them another shot in a couple months when they get settled.

The ambiance is nice and the cocktails are great. I ordered the 8oz Filet at $40 and and was very underwhelmed. It was underseasoned and had an odd flavor. The roasted brussel sprouts and cauliflower tasted good, but were soaked in oil. The root vegetables and the bacon mac and cheese were very good. Bottom line, there are better steakhouses for the money.

Cocktails and wine good. Otherwise overpriced. Made reservations 30 days in advance and waited 45 mins after reservation time for a table. Food was good but def overpriced. Prob would not go back for full dinner but maybe apps and drinks at the bar because location works very well for us.

Meh. I don't know. This place presents itself like a casual steakhouse. We walked in and the atmosphere is definitely nothing like chops or bones. At those place you expect the service and the quality and you prepare to pay for it. Here, the atmosphere its like Ted's Montana grill across the street. If you went there and got a rib eye for 60 bucs you'd be like "what the hell?" Same here. Anyways we had the 25 oz steak here for I think around $100. We split it. It was definitely not worth the money. Disappointed with this bc it was described as their super duper dry aged bla bla bla steak and it really was only ok. Oh and our waiter talked. A lot. He came over every 5 minutes interrupting us and asking us if we're fine and telling us about the food and how they contract with this farmer and that farmer. Holy crap! Can we finish one sentence to each other uninterrupted? And Who cares about joe farmer in South Georgia whose chickens apparently poop gold?? Make it taste good, put it on my plate and stop talking!! Not impressed.
