Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Awesome food here! The taco was outstanding as was the tamale. The best was our server, so sweet and motherly with her little pet names for us! I cleaned my plate, which is very unusual for me at most Mexican restaurants because most food is heavy and boring in flavour. I would definitely come here again!

Least favorite place for Mexican food.. Way to much cheese is placed on each dish rendering the food mostly tasteless. Over priced drinks. Too many other great Mex. restaurants in Alpharetta to waste your time here.
(2)Kenny B.
I've been to this location quite a few times with my wife and two kids, and have generally had quick service and great food. Today's food was good as always, but the service was very slow and inattentive. It was actually one of the worst such out of 100+ visits to various locations around the city over the years. Hopefully this was a one off, as I usually count on La Parilla to be a solid go to for Mexican food.
(3)Nikki N.
This place gets three stars only because the food is half way decent. The chips and cheese dip is good and the Taco Loco is good if they actually give you chicken instead of a taco shell field with shredded lettuce. I had to send my order back and have them remake it. It literally had no chicken and it was all shredded lettuce. The service is LOUSY!!!! We went for Cinco de Mayo during lunch and that was our mistake. But still, we sat there for an hour with water and chips. The young server I think forgot to put our order in. People around us were getting food even though they were seated 30-45 mins after we had been sitting there waiting. We finally left because our server and the manager still didn't know how long it would take for our lunch to be ready. People around us that had been waiting on their food had to put it in Togo boxes as soon as their food arrived to the table. I went today 7/13 with a coworker and we got sat immediately which was nice. We ordered cheese dip and thank goodness because 30 mins later we got our chicken salad and a taco loco salad. How long does it to make two salads? Like I said before, I had to send mine back to actually have chicken out on the chicken salad. We waited for our check and finally got up to leave to pay at the front. And our server was standing at the register gabbing away to other servers. SERIOUSLY????? It's my lunch hour!!! If you are in a hurry don't go here. If you want to sit back and enjoy your food and have all the time in the world then this place will work. The service is just not up to par!

YES! Finally a Mexican restaurant with a fajita worthy to be called "steak". When you order a fajita and they say "how do you want your steak cooked?" THAT IS a good sign. This one did not disappoint. Get the combo fajita with chicken steak and shrimp. All cooked perfectly and none dried out. That is hard to find in an American located Mexican joint. This place is legit. Sit at the bar too Bonfillo will keep you smiling and your glass full. No NFL ticket, but you'll be enjoying that medium rare fajita so much you won't care. DO IT!!
(5)Rae P.
Some of the absolute best Mexican food I have ever had. Very high quality food and preparation with a nice courteous staff and clean pleasant environment at both the bar and dining room. I definitely recommend it for all the traditional classic mexican entrees favored by most Americans. Their bar selection is awesome and prices are as expected for the area. The standard regular salsa and chips is absolutely amazing.
(4)Waleska A.
Great service!!! Amazing food!!! We had a party of 4 and ordered couple of taco plates and a burrito con todo that was amazing. Food came out pretty fast and our server was very friendly and courteous. Will definitely come back.
(5)Jonathan M.
Had dinner here with a couple friends on Friday for halloween. For starters instead of serving the usual nachos with salsa they prepare Guacamole right at your table, it was so delicious we had to take the rest home. I ordered a Margarita of course which was delightful and decided to get one of the dinner combinations they had, the # 23 which was one beef burrito and one taco with Mexican rice and refried beans, my friends got two orders of the Flautas, both dishes were really tasty and delicious and the prices were very decent. I have to say that our Server was so awesome and funny, she was always checking on us and even helped take a couple pictures of us, it was also her birthday and they sang her happy bday, just all round a great experience with her, she totally rocked and we gave her a pretty nice tip. Definitely need to go back and try their other dishes soon.

Food was great in midst of Sat night rosh. Alfredo got quad-sat, but handled it like a champ.!
(5)Lisa S.
Great Mexican cuisine - the chips and queso are great! Lots of parking and outdoor seating! I've never had a bad meal here!
(5)Joanna R.
This review is strictly for the bar and some drinks. Great Spanish music playing in the background. DELICIOUS AND STRONG MARGARITAS that didn't break the bank. We also ordered guacamole to go and it rocked. No complaints!
(4)Nic K.
It's your standard chain Mexican restaurant. Nothing more, nothing less. You'll have some food items that are bad and some that are good. I went on a Saturday evening around 6pm. The restaurant was already packed. Service was friendly and drinks were not watered down so A+ for me!
(4)Nellie ..
Based on all the good Yelp reviews I decided to give La Parrilla a try. Did not want to order up a lot of food being this was my first visit, so I went with something simple, Nachos (everything on it) with Steak. My order was made to go. To my surprise when arrived home, and examined my order, I was greatly disappointed before my first bite. There was no real cheese with my order... believe it was cheese from a jar or can, and no Guacamole. The steak was not tiny pieces but long strips laid across on top of the Nachos. The flavor of the entire meal was bland... didn't taste like authentic Mexican seasoning to me, I've had better at Taco Bell!
(1)Elle S.
My food was amazing. So we're the drinks. I ordered the seafood burrito with shrimp and tilapia with a side of rice and beans. The rice was excellent. Our waiter was the best. He was attentive, friendly, made good recommendations, and had a good sense of humor. I recommend this ace to anyone in the area.
(5)Melissa S.
Straight forward Mexican: Fresh ingredients and delicious flavors abound! I live out of state but travel here frequently; La Parrilla is a MUST every time I'm in town. Have tried many items and never had a complaint. Some favorites: the queso fundido, chicken soup, table side guac, cheese dip, chile relleno, and pretty much everything on the menu! Enjoy a cold beer or fresh margarita (sweetened with pure agave) - why are you still reading? Get over there!

Time & Date of visit: Multiple weekday dinners and weekend lunches. Party Size: 2-4 on various visits Location/Ambiance: The parking can get very crowded in the front. Especially with certain front side parking spots reserved for the other neighboring business in the plaza. On weekday lunches, you'll be parking space stalking a bit even in the back. Dinner time seems to be more spacious. Weekend lunches are more chilled, so there's plenty of parking. It's pretty loud, especially around the bar area. Even more so when there is a game on. I try to avoid the lunch rush of 12-1, so wait times aren't so bad after that time frame. Service: Varies, but generally positive. Food/Beverages: Cheese dip: For an appetizer, it's an ok starter to accompany the free chips and salsa given. Even better if you're starving. I would say order this if it's a lunch rush and the place is packed. You might be waiting a bit for the entree. If your table is cool with it, we like to mix some of the free salsa into the cheese dip. Lunch#2, La Diecisiete, La Veintitres: Most of the lunch specials or the numbered combination entrees are filling due to portion size. The ground beef could be cooked better. It's usually dry and not flavorful most of the times I have ordered this as the protein. I have yet to try their chicken though. For cheap eats and to be filled, most of the combinations aren't a bad choice. Though some what bland in flavor. The rice is decent, a bit most times dry. I like to drizzle any of the sauces into it to help give it flavor. Most times the beans have been a meh, plate filler. If you want something more tasty, the Tacos de Asada is usually want my roommate orders and devours. Sopapillas: Portion size, it's good for sharing. A good balance of the cinnamon sugar keeps this dessert from becoming a sugar rush with a extra glass of water to keep it down. Don't think you can make this the same by tossing some Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal in with some ice cream. A little more thought went into this. Though the vanilla ice cream is more than likely store bought or possibly Sysco it pairs well. If you have the tummy space, it's worth a try. Summary: Crazy busy lunch spot even well after the lunch rush around 1-2pm. Decent Americanized tex-mex. Don't expect anything authentic especially the combination entrees.

I have been back several times, and each time was fantastic! Instead of the regular chimi, I ordered the Chimi Rica with brisket. The brisket inside is seasoned to perfection! And this one comes with rice & beans, and no strange carrots inside. Chips and salsa are wonderful, and the service is always great.
(5)Mark H.
Solid choice for a quick Mexican dinner with the family. Great service and food, but the if crowded is super loud.
(4)Brian B.
Still the best Mexican food in town by far. Love this place, the ambiance, the service and the food!
(5)Edward W.
I know that La Parilla has only three stars here on Yelp. I have to disagree. It's better than that. This location has convenient parking, and the restaurant has a huge bar, outside seating and plenty of seating in the brightly colored dining room. Even so, you'll find yourself waiting often at dinner time as the place gets really busy. A mariachi band strolls through on select evenings. Tonite a server was singing lead with them, and it was pretty good! Food is Americanized-Mexican, but it's solid and tasty. I wish the chips were more authentic, thicker and more rustic. The full bar serves up all the usuals, but the delightful M ordered a frozen marg and commented that is was SOOOO good, perhaps the best she's ever had. Service is fast and friendly. What more could you ask for in a neighborhood chain-style Mexican place? Yeah, four stars is just about right!
(4)Kathy A.
This is, by far, our favorite Mexican restaurant! The staff is amazing, the food is incredible, and the atmosphere is energetic! You can watch a soccer game in the afternoon, have a Margarita with your dinner, and enjoy an evening on the patio at night. You can't go wrong with the menu, also, kid friendly.
(5)Adam B.
Nice sit down with freinds or family restaurant. live music was a plus. service from hostess, waiter and manager was excellent. being from out of town and my first time here, the waiter was busy yet took time to go over menu, offer recommendation and checked in on me while still taking care of others. main course was served on a hot plate that kept it's temperature and the food warm for a long time. I appreciated the dessert that was on the house for being a first time customer but unfortunately I just did not have anymore room to finish it. If you have a craving for Mexican this is definitely a spot to check out. great service, great food, great ambience.
(5)saim g.
La parilla dip is great, steak fajitas perfect, Have to try coconut shrimp.great staff.
(4)Jaye H.
AMAZING.... EVERYTIME.... AMAZING This is my favorite Mexican restaurant and I go there about 2x a month. Always Great.... Great food... Great service.... Great atmosphere I usually get the same thing and even though they no longer have on the menu... they still make it for me as though it was there. The never fuss and I barely have to explain what the item was.. they know right away. I have tried everything from burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, and my favorite. Always chicken and everything has and continues to be great. We go usually early on Saturday or Sunday as they get slammed after 5pm. We have been there many times when they are slammed busy and we're always amazed at the staff's ability to manage the tables, orders, and guests expectations as they do when they are half as busy. Sign of great management and staff that works together to provide great service tending to everyone, maintaining food quality, and timeliness. Everyone is always friendly and accommodating of asks. I definitely recommend to people
(5)Ashley R.
My fiance and I were told to go here if we wanted Mexican food. So we decided to give it a try. We called in our order for pick up. We arrived on timr and they had our food ready. I am so glad that we decided to go here for dinner. It was really good. We will most definitely be ordering from them again when we come back to Atlanta.
(4)Lou G.
There should be a warning about operating heavy machinery after eating here! This is pretty standard Tex Mex fare, but with a little flair. Plates are put together well, flavors are average. Portions are large and sleep inducing. A good selection of sides which include toreados, avocado slices, and grilled asparagus. Draft Beer is cheap. Service is great. Overall a-ok.
(3)Karen T.
As usual our food was great. We had lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. We were seated right away. Our server Alfredo was polite and attentive. I had the chicken harvest salad which was fresh with tasty marinated grilled chicken. My husband had his favorite carne asada tacos. I preferred fresh cuisine at La Parilla over the typical fare at most Tex Mex restaurants.
(4)T W.
Love this restaurant. Been here several times & service/food is always good. I usually order the shrimp quesadilla or Texas fajita quesadilla. Cheese dip is yummy! The cocktails are always great! The only thing I don't like about the inside set-up is one side is bright/open & the other side is a bit dark & depressing. No big deal, but I prefer to sit on the bright/open side.
(5)Nati J.
Love the queso and the tilapia is delish ( I order it with plantains con the side, yum!)... Go see Andres L if you want amazing service!!
(4)Scott R.
I come here for their Wednesday lunch special. Unlimited chips and salsa, drink, beef burrito, cheese enchilada, and mexi rice for $6.49. Great deal! The service is decent...no worse and no better than most restaurants.
(5)John S.
Great food, Margaritas are great. Supreme Veggie Burrito is the way to go for Veggies!
(5)David C.
Went here with a friend. There was a wait but it wasn't that bad. The inside is like any other Mexican restaurant you go to, ie a little chintzy, tables wobble, and they cram way too many tables in too small of a place. The service was ok. They were not particularly fast but they made sure the beer pitcher was completely full instead of a huge head of foam like some places. The prices were reasonable for the food and the portions given. If you like tex mex then you wont be disappointed with this place just don't expect anything to wow you.
(3)Roger H.
The food Smell's really good, the place is very crowed which I guess is a good thing because that means the food must be really good it is a Friday night and this is our first time here. Parking was sort of a hassle because there was no where to park. That is to be expected I guess when you come around seven just like anywhere else. All in all first impression people are very courteous and nice service and waiter are awesome the environment is wonderful if the food is as good as it smells I will be eating here again
(4)Cindy W.
You can never go wrong eating here. We had fajitas and they were cooked to perfection. The service is great and the ambiance is perfect for either date night or family night. If you like spice, you are in for a treat! Try their spicy margarita made with jalapeño infused tequila, it's not on the menu so ask for it. Cheers!!!!!
(5)Marcus O.
this is your basic neighborhood mexican restaurant with no real outstanding food choices.la parilla was my go-to spot for mexican before el molcajete moved in. still, i have to say, the one great thing la parilla does well is their queso dip. service is usually fast and friendly. outdoor patio is nice if you can find a spot out of the sun. prepare yourself when you open the menu for an explosion of obnoxious color and immense choice from tacos to burgers. parking is usually terrible if you're going during a peak eating time and trying to nab a front spot. it's easier to grab a spot in the back and walk around. you're going to need the walk anyway after all the chips you're going to consume. if you're careful with your timing, you can miss the annoying mariachi band. the only tip i have for that is to avoid prime hours. :)
(3)J. W.
I love Mexican food. I love all of the La Parrilla's I ever been to...except for this one. I caught the tail end of the lunch crowd, and got there about 1:15. The staff was basically checked out. Everyone was standing around talking or outside taking a break. I didn't have a whole lot of time to eat, so I ordered the speedy. One taco, a cheese enchilada and rice and beans. It took over 25 minutes for it to come out. I literally had to ask for my check and a to go box before my food even arrived. My waitress was very sweet but cared more about talking to regulars than she did making sure she was giving good service. Still looking for a good Mexican restaurant in the area, but this one definitely won't be my first choice again.
(2)Michael C.
Service is quick and friendly. Food is consistently good to above average. Parking can be rough as it is shared among other popular places in the same strip, and the spaces are a wee bit small unless you have a very small car. I try to avoid weekend nights though; the in-house entertainment (standard Mexican trumpet band) is obnoxiously loud; don't even bother trying to actually talk to anyone in you party. I know it's a cultural thing, but the band members yipping like a beat dog does nothing for me either.
(3)Tom-Tom P.
Real Mexican food in Alpharetta, very close to LA style!!! This has the best fajitas in town! The employees are kind and offer incredible service. They have a full bar and it is a great place to watch sports! I will definitely be back here instead of Taco Mac
(5)Allyson R.
I can't really say much that hasn't already been said, but I think this location has lost a lot of luster over the last year. When we first started going here about 3 years ago, everything was great and the staff was awesome. Now when we go I feel sick and bloated every time we leave. This however may just be a change in diet lifestyle...i don't know. The service has seemed to slow down a bit, and sometimes we wait 5 minutes before a waiter comes over, which is off for La Parilla. All in all it's a decent Tex Mex restaurant, but it's far from the best.
(3)Pam M.
Love La Parilla. I lived in Texas for 20 years and this is the closest I can find to Mexican that I am used to! The cheese dip is fabulous, (I've always called it queso). I wasn't sure when I saw it was white but it tastes so good! The fajitas are sizzling and flavorful, and the margaritas are yummy. Best Mexican around here!
(5)Talmo F.
Good fast Mexican restaurant
(3)Karie L.
Food was good, the service was good, but im still grumpy that a margarita cost me $18.00 when i one i point at was the special for the night... and i dont even like tequila!
(4)Kane B.
Food was good, service was ok. Standard Mexicana. Little more expensive than most other Mexican restaurants though. I had a pork chimichanga and some cerveza. The chimichanga tasted good but was light on the pork and heavy on the beans. The salsa is standard stuff from a can. We got some queso dip too. It's queso, it's pretty hard to screw this up. Not bad if you're in the area, no shame to miss it.
(3)Yngwie M.
Really surprised at all the mixed reviews. Maybe that's how it used to be a couple of years ago? I've never had a bad meal here. I usually get the ensenada fish tacos, and they're always good. It's actually too much food. They don't skimp on the meat. Today, I tried some different tacos a la carte. And again, they were loaded with meat. Service is also always really good as well. They're really friendly. Another nice touch for the kids is that they give you a balloon anchored by teddy grahams.
(5)Ali F.
average chain mexican spot. Its a go if your in the area and want mexican.
(3)Curt A.
My friend and I used to always go here for lunch but now he says its gone downhill? Whats that about? I always get the enchiladas verde or whateveritscalled and its great and filling. Last time I was there it was just as good. What's all the hubbub about that its gone downhill? I dont get it, but I'll go back anytime, if you wanna go, call me and I'll go with you.
(5)Matilda P.
We started eating here a few years ago and liked it. I don't know if we've just evolved or if the place has actually changed, but we're not big fans anymore. The food is ho-hum without too much flavor, and details like squeaking booth seats and wobbly tables are overlooked by management. There are too many other cheese-over-meat-or-beans places to choose from, and I'd rather just hit up Chepe's or one of the other many choices. It's not great, it's not awful. It's just what it is. PS, Margaritas are WEAK.
(2)Trey L.
This place is like ninfas in Texas to me. (even though theres a ninfas in downtown Atlanta) I always get the shrimp tacos. The rice and beans are really good here as well. If you are really hungry get the Burrito de Brisket. I will say if you want fajitas go to Pappasittos and the queso is just aaiiight.
(4)Lissette M.
Tried the Salmon salad and it was very good. We were seated outside and the bugs were out but other than that the food and service was very good.
(4)FirstName L.
Been there twice. Once for lunch which was great. Fast service, good food. Another time we had dinner which seemed a lot greasier than at other La Parrillas. My seafood burrito was sitting in oil/grease instead of cheese dip.
(3)Kailua S.
I am desperately seeking good (ok, I will take just decent at this point) Mexican food in the Atlanta area. Is it too much to ask for? My La Parrilla meal started off great. A small order of guacamole was good for two of us and was delicious. It was very fresh with lots of chunks of avocado. Chile relleno was served over shredded chicken. Chicken was moist and flavorful but the chile was over battered and rubbery. Chicken enchilada was so so. Not much flavor or heat. Rice tasted strangely buttery (butter in Mexican rice?).
(2)Darren H.
The food was pretty good & this place hasn't stopped my search for really good Mexican yet. I've been to this place a couple of times and the service doesn't seem to be consistent, the first time it was outstanding the second time just ok. The margaritas were nice and strong like I like them but again not that there was anything wrong with the food but out in this part of the burbs i'm beginning to think that the people in the A enjoy there food on the bland side.
(3)Will W.
The best Mexican that I've had in the Alpharetta area. Excellent Ensenada Fish Tacos.
(4)Sarah S.
Love the salsa but chips and salsa don't make a meal. They forgot the tortillas for my to go fajitas. I called back to let them know and was asked when I wanted to pick up the tortillas. They didn't offer to replace the meal which I thought was bogus. I had no way to eat my meal. The chicken was also lacking. I got approximately. 3/4 of a chicken breast and it was extremely underseasoned. I got roughly six bell pepper strips but they made up for it with a mostly raw entire onion. Sad they didn't make it right and that I had to write a bad review.
(2)Doug B.
One of the better tasting Mexican food offerings off Windward. Close to home too. The carne asada comes sizzling hot with all the usual stuff to keep it company in the warm flour tortilla. The guacamole is above average but their salsa could be kicked up a notch - I usually ask for a side dish of jalapeños to do make that happen. They really know how to pack the place on Friday nights and orders get screwed up due to the crunch of hungry folks. The Maggie's are quenching and you can almost taste the tequila in them, almost. Parking sucks and when the wait time gets too long - Hudson Grille or Taco Mac are close by. You can't lose!
(4)Rob F.
Good food. Service not so good.
(2)Tiffany T.
This location is close to my office, so I eat lunch here somewhat frequently. The food is always good. There's a ton of parking in the strip, which is good, because they're often busy for weekday lunch. Not so busy that you have to wait for a table, but busy enough to know they're doing something right.
(4)Rhonda P.
Good food, great service, quick service for lunch, next time I will go for happy hour!
(5)Ken G.
I might be spoiled coming from California, but this is absolutely the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life,I figured this place was good because its always crowded. ... BTW white gravy looking nacho cheese sauce...REALLY? Anyways I had the Chimichanga...extremely disappointed, it looked like one you buy in the frozen food section at the grocery store ...and then they made it soggy with this unknown flavorless sauce.
(1)Marla G.
As one of the other posters said "this is just a basic neighborhood mexican restaurant with no real outstanding food choices" and if you want really good mexican food go up the street a couple of miles and when you pass Betheny Bend about 2 blocks, look on your right and you will find a little strip mall sitting down from the street and that's where El Molcajette is located. There you will find delicious mexican food and alot of different choices instead of the same old boring choices that most mexican restaurants put out.
(1)Karly G.
This place is always packed! It's crazy but it's pretty good. I'm not a big fan of mexican food because my digestion said so. Otherwise I could eat refried beans with cheese all day long! But my former coworkers and I would go there at least twice a week and I would drive 3 exits down just to eat! My favorite is their Salmon Fiesta Salad with cranberries and mango dressing over a bed of lettuce and 2 grilled salmon. It is stupid good.
(4)Jane D.
Food and service are great. However, it is usually very loud, so be prepared.
(4)Thomas B.
So from the time I stepped in to the time I left the entire staff was incredibly nice. It's like Mexican Southern Hospitality... The food was good, establishment was clean, and a good health score. I stopped by for lunch so I did not enjoy the margaritas and parking was awful. Next time I'll make someone else drive and enjoy a pitcher to myself. I tend to think that all of the chain Mexican restaurants use the same menu printing company. Check it out next time. The Combination 11 is the same at most places.
(3)Andres Z.
This place has a great "family" atmosphere, but pretty much good for anyone: high schoolers, date nights, older folks, parties, etc. In fact, my wife and I took our 1-year old there for his one-year party, just had a big lunch with our closest friends, and the manager and wait staff were amazing. I didn't bump them up to a 5-star because of the food. It's good and all, but not amazing. If I could give it 4.5 stars I would, but definitely not 5-star material.
(4)Rosario C.
I lived in Mexico for a couple of years so my standards for genuine Mexican food in the US are pretty high. The food here is great and the waiters are really generous. Speaking spanish is a plus since a majority of the workers are fluent but anyone who speaks English will be just fine. Seafood burrito was delicious.
(4)Alejandro B.
For the past 5 years I've been to this place at least once a month and every time the food has been very good and the service outstanding. Hands down the best in the area in that price range.
(5)Stacy P.
Food was awesome, but when I was there I saw the manager yell at two of the hostesses in the middle of the restaurant and made one of them cry. She looked like she was only 16. It was unprofessional and insensitive. It made for an uncomfortable atmosphere
(1)Ron H.
Mediocre mexican food at it's best...overpriced on what they provide..want to surcharge everything...a small saucer of queso is $4....crazy. service was poor due to understaffing..our server tried hard. final bill was wrong...added an item..I asked to have it removed, and they came back saying they could not take it off, so the gave me a tiny coupon for a meal when i buy a meal and 2 drinks on a non-friday , blah, blah.
(2)Christine F.
I thought the food here was great. I had a seafood burrito and the amount of seafood for the price was very good. It was compiled of shrimp & tilapia with of course the melted cheese. Very yummy. The place busy which made it really loud since it is a completly open restaurant. The waiter was very upbeat too. Great meal for the price.

So this is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants especially for lunch when I'm at work. My favorite dish is the Seafood Burrito--absolutely love it!!. This past weekend I got to try their new Shrimp Tacos. The tacos are amazing. They have a spicy slaw and you can have yours shrimp fried or grilled. It's 3 of them and they come with beans and rice (makes you wish you could just order 2 tacos because you're soooo full but the spicy slaw and grilled shrimp on that thrid one are just calling your name. wanting to join its brethren.

I seem to have the best time here when I sit at the bar. Make friends with the bartender for some "better" drinks. The food is ok, but this place always seems to be busy. Usually loud and with lots of kids.

I love La Parilla, but wasn't un-imprssed with this location. The food was its usual quality, but something was amiss about this place when we went on a Friday night. The first miss was messing up the food order, then the second miss was still trying to up-charge for the premium items that were missing (adding shrimp). Its also bad when the waiter asks if you want more chips, you say yes, then they never seem to show up. There were $50 in margaritas consumed at the table, I think you can show up with chips after you ask if we want them, and we say yes. I'll stick with Marietta/Howell Mill after this experience.

A guy in a review below commented on the nachos with 'white gravy looking nacho cheese sauce'. That is exactly what I got today, but I would describe it as water with a touch of cheese. This was the 'Grande Nachos'. Thinking back on my full stomach now, it is literally making me feel nauseous picturing it. I was so hungry I ate them anyway and now I wish I hadn't. Other sad aspects of the nachos included barely any chips at all, a huge pile of pale iceberg lettuce and a serving of sour cream in the form of a few thin lines of decoration on top of the pile. I mentioned it to our waiter and he mumbled something and offered no discount at all. No tip, no return, adios amigos. Ok so this isn't really a complete review but this stuff was so bad I just had to write about it.

Saturday afternoon and this place was packed! I had to tell the hostess after 10min that no one had come to our table. The food was good. I've had better Mexican. I do not know if this is a chain. The waiter was very good when he finally came. The margaritas my friend and I had definitely made up where the food was lacking!

BOOOORING. Typical Mexican joint. Numbered combination meals, speedy with beans, blah blah. This place used to be a lot better. The last few times I've gone I've been unimpressed. On my last visit, the carne asada was tough and chewy. This place gets busy at lunch and dinner. Parking at this strip mall is also a challenge. It seems to be popular for happy hour, and they sometimes have musicians playing at nights (man, guitar, drum machine dealie). Yet with all this, it is popular with families. They give the kids helium balloons and stuff. That'll keep my 3 year old entertained for a while.

Booooo this La Parilla location. Booooooo. We went last night for a lovely Mother's Day dinner and most of us ordered alcoholic beverages. My boyfriend, who has recently realized his license is expired, attempted to order a Corona. The waiter asked for his ID only -- not of those obviously older -- but his. So we have problem 1: inconsistent. He then informed my boyfriend that he's not supposed to serve to people with expired licenses and he would check with his manager. Umm...oooookay Sheriff John. First, I get that this is your policy, but I think it's a stupid policy. The person on the ID was obviously HIM -- not someone else. Not like an older brother handing down his old ID case or anything. Same guy, same license he used like 2 week ago...just that it's now expired. Second, it's not like he was there to binge drink with his frat buddies -- he was at dinner with his FAMILY simply wanting to enjoy a beer like everyone else. So sue him. Instead, it was then a "thing". Nice. Third, soooo....you don't want a bigger tip? Just wondering. It all ended up that our server brought him out a coke and didn't say a word as to whether he would or would not be "allowed" to serve him. Total crap. Loosen your tight wads a tad, guys. Afterall, it's not a license to DRINK!

Pretty good food, no complaints...Great Service, always!!! Large margarita's, good salsa,...it's basically what you want out of a mexican restaurant, including the live music!

I had ordered dinner for take out and sat at the bar to wait. They bartender immediately presented me with a basket of chips and salsa and i ordered a beer they refilled my salsa when i wasnt even looking! They staff is attentive, kind and friendly. The prices are great and the food is even better. WE love La Parrilla! Thank you for the great service.

I knew when we walked in this place that it would be three stars, tops. The noise level was KISS concert worthy but not nearly as entertaining. The staff was very friendly but frenetic. I'd be buggy too if I had to work in four hours of wading through a maelstrom of uncontrolled rug rat frenzy while waiting tables and picking up tortillas under tables and chairs. I knew the food would be average corporate strip mall 'Mexican', but we just wanted to stop somewhere in the middle of errands, eat some chicken enchiladas, semi-passable frijoles refritos, and a little rice. It met my caloric requirement for the evening. Now I have to figure out whether or not the results met my expectations or my expectations influenced the results. I think both.

The boyfriend & I stopped in on a Saturday evening, after waiting an hour & downing a bottle of tequila between us at the bar I was introduced to THE BEST mexican food I've yet to try. Well worth the wait! Being a vegetarian your constantly searching for the freshest mexican food you can find. Finding a place the doesn't use canned mushroom & spinach on everything is rarity, but this place is it. I felt like I was eating right out of a mexican vegetable garden. De-LICIOUS! *Two thumbs way, way up* The server was running around like a poor chicken with her head cut off, but kept in great service & good spirits. Was willing to joke around when the chance was given. Look forward to going back!

This location is amazing. I've been to the midtown location but this one is something else. The cheese dip was so tasty. My texas fajitas were cooked perfectly and the spices were dead on. What a wonderful tex-mex restaurant in the northern suburbs. We went on a Sunday and the live music added a lot to the atmosphere.

ok so to start im kind of a stickler. this place was rather good but my scale is tough so they only get three stars. So pulling up to La Parrilla have to say, WOW.. the building itself is pretty large for a restaurant in a strip plaza. The decor entering is really nice very classic rustic hispanic feel with a modern update. The size of the restaurant as i said before is rather large so unless they are just slammed i dont think there should be a wait at all. Service was rather good. only downfall was we started with one young lady who took our drink order saying she would be our waitress. then only to have another come back to take our food order/ apatizer order, and now saying she would be our waitress... Not really a big deal by any means i just dont like to be confused like that. for me the first one should have come and said hey im handing u off to this person or something.... anyway.. the service was great. our waitress was very attentive and pleasant. never let our glasses become empty and was sure to ask a few times if we needed anyting else and if everything was ok. The food....... the food was really good. we started out with the cheese dip. which was just like any other cheese dip u would get at a mexican restaurant.. the salsa however was rather good.. seemed like it might be freshly made in house. not to much of a kick in heat but just enough for most to be able to handle it...... oh and as someone else said in there review.. their chips.. WOW.. love the chips.. they are light and crispy but still strong enough to handle cheese dip or salsa without breaking... have to say my counter part and i finished off at least 3 baskets, maybe more... our entrees came out in a reasonable amount of time for the amount of people that were there... the presentation was very very nice for mexican food which most of the time is concentrated more on taste than on aesthetics. I ordered the burrito con todo/ california style. which basically was a burrito packed with chicken rice cilantro and some other goodies.. ill have to upload a picture of it later. i took one on my phone.. as i said presentation.. wow.... food was really good. everything tasted fresh and real, and by that i mean not fake processed,, chicken was cooked perfectly in everything we ordered not rubbery or just dry, we love chicken BTW... Over all i have to give this place a three star only cuz there is no three and a half star option. at least not that i could find. nothing wrong with the place or food at all. just didnt knock my socks off or send me into a frenzy in my seat........... oh... on another note the price was decent.. not cheap mexican but not pricy either.. hard to find those cheap authentic good places these days... i would suggest this to anyone looking for a good mexican meal. i will probably go back.

The frozen Margarita's are very good. The wait staff and the manager were very friendly too. I had the carnitas and they were not dry but very tasty. A little noisy but that's because we were there on a Friday night.

This is an example of your average Mexican restaurant. The food isn't bad but its nothing spectacular, and is pretty much the same stuff you will find at Tijuana Joe's, Monterrey, El Azteca or Mexico Lindo. That said, its good for a cheap lunch.

A ton of people I know love this place, but I have mixed feelings. The mexican food is pretty good, but just offers the standard mexican fare. They are always pretty busy, so expect to park in the back. It is a great place for families to go!

Originally I was going to give this place only TWO stars because they lost the RSVP that I confirmed three times for our corporate Holiday lunch; however the management was kind enough to make up for their lack of responsibility. Lunch time is the most crowded for the restaurant since it's near most of the corporations off of Windward. Once seated we were given multiple appetizers due to the lost reservation. The food ended up being great and very low priced! It's not my favorite Mexican place, but I'm glad to see that mangement can take responsibility for their servers and show appreciation to their customers! Nice Job!

I have been eating at La Parrilla for over 6 years and aside from a few issues now and then I have always enjoyed it. But they have recently switched their menu and replaced some items with cheaper, less healthy and unappetizing substitutions while increasing their prices. And if you are a vegetarian you should absolutely go somewhere else since their few really good vegetable dishes have all been removed. I was very disappointed with their changes. I am not sure I will be going back any time soon.

This is the 4th location that I have visited thus far. Every time I am impressed by their selection, price, and service. In my opinion it blows La Azteca, On The Border, and any other place that is a so-called Mexican Restaurant. Their guac is awesome and again service is always over the top. There is a reason that they keep receiving the best Mexican in Atlanta time and time again.

La Parrilla's food beats any other Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. The steak that they use in burritos, fajitas, etc is delicious but they also have some great vegetarian options. I love this one & I am a huge fan of their Woodstock/Canton location too!

I found this restaurant via Yelp while in Alpharetta on business. The meal was very good at reasonable prices, but the outstanding part of dinner was the guacamole. I am a huge fan of guac and this was among the best. Huge chunks of avocado and very fresh cilantro indicates it was definitely made in-house. The complimentary chips & salsa were also very good. For my entree, I had the Burrito Mexicano with chicken which is accompanied by rice & beans. The burrito was good although the chicken itself was a bit bland. The rice was standard, but the beans were better than average. The service was very friendly without being overbearing. All in all, definitely a winner in my book.

This IS a typical Atlanta Mexican restaurant, however, the typical food they serve is typically much better than you get at those other typical Mexican restaurants...always gotten good service...and the views aren't bad... ;)

The cheese dip at La Parrilla is so good. It's the first place I had nachos with white cheese dip. Honestly, when I was done eating the chips and dip I was too full for my actual meal. La Parrilla is a very nice establishment with good service, reasonable prices and a very extensive lunch and dinner menu. Drop your business card in the bowl at the front to receive a free lunch for 10. La Parrilla is located off Windward Parkway and Highway 9 in Alpharetta.
