First off, I am not a fan of chain hibachi restaurants. However, Ichiban is not one of those places. We have had both lunch and dinner here. If you feel that $30 for hibachi is pricey, come in and have it for lunch. The chicken teriyaki is only $8.50 ($1.50 upcharge for fried rice instead of steamed) - you'll get a salad, chicken teriyaki, rice, and vegetables. Plenty of food for lunch! The sushi here is also great - my personal favorite is the super crunch roll (shrimp tempura, eel, and avocado). One disappointment: the waitress would not let me order noodles since we were sitting at the hibachi grill. I think this may be a one time thing, as I once ordered the shrimp tempura udon (a little on the salty side) when seated at the grill with a group. One last note: they serve a variety of sauces at the hibachi grill. The "special sauce" is an ABSOLUTE FAVORITE of one of my coworkers - he could drink it with a straw! It looks like thousand island dressing, but apparently it's a secret recipe. Be sure to try it!

This is by far my favorite Hibachi spot. I have eaten here over 10 times and I am always impressed. The scallops are cooked to perfection and the service is great. During the week it has a very intimate feeling, great for a date. The drinks are always to my liking and when I've ordered something modified it's perfect. Two thumbs up!

Chain Hibachi grills are so over priced and overrated. That's why I go to Ichiban on Windward Parkway in Alpharetta. With contemporary Japanese inspired dcor and friendly staff, Ichiban is open for lunch and dinner. At Ichiban there's seating at tables, the bar as well as the hibachi grills. The chef's put on a show filled with pranks, tricks and jokes while cooking the food. In order to experience true Hibachi you have to sit at the grill. Each grill seats eight and can accommodate large groups and perfect strangers. There are a variety of combos, appetizers and sushi creations and prices vary based on lunch and dinner specials. My absolute favorite is hibachi chicken with fried rice and vegetables which automatically comes with salad and soup. Amazingly just $7.95 at lunch and $14.95 for dinner, Ichiban is first class hibachi. Visit ichibansteakandsushi.com or call (770) 772-6822 for details.

Absolutely horrible customer service. We walked in were never greeted, were treated rudely at the bar and walked the hell out. I will never go again.

This place is GREAT! I order the chicken teriyaki, miso soup and steamed rice ($8.50). I think fried rice is $1.50 extra. The soup is pretty good, especially for miso soup. The salad however is fabulous. I usually don't like ginger dressing, but their recipe is *awesome* I am ALWAYS impressed when I go here. The teriyaki chicken is the best I've had at a hibachi style restaurant. It is cooked very well (not dry/overcooked and not undercooked) and the teriyaki sauce is phenomenal. Also, their shrimp sauce was very good (if you care about that sort of thing) The only bad experience I've had at Ichiban was when I ordered (the above) to go. It was no good. They need to find a better way to pack the to-go orders. I probably will never order a to-go order from there again.

We just went to the location @ the new Avenue in Forsyth. WOW! It was so delicious. I had the filet, shrimp and scallops and I did not even mind paying the $30+ for it. Drinks were also good and strong here as well. I had 2 martinis and that was all she wrote. The decor is very nice in this location, as in the Windward one-- which I do not know if they opened another location and closed that one, or if both are open. This is a great special occasion place to go with a big group you dont feel like constantly having to make conversation with. That said, next time the inlaws come, we're going there!!!

I had never been to a hibachi grill. It was a very nice experience. You can get a lot of food for lunch for under $20/person. They had nice decor and quick service.

Its cool but don't expect anything different all hibachi places are the same to me. Flip a egg in his hat, set a onion on fire that is all!

My date and I tried Ichiban just before Christmas. I was not sure about the sushi menu as they did not provide the typical list of individual sushi items that you could order. As I am watch what I am eating, I am leery of letting someone else pick out my food. I went with a sushi and sashimi combo with chef's selection and I was very pleased with the selection! The pieces of fish were very generous and the flavor was great. Watch out for a hidden bit of wasabi between the fish and the rice! That caught my date my surprise and had her reaching for the water! There are a lot of sushi places in this area but I can definitely see going back to Ichiban!

I'm not really a fan of hibachi normally, since I always think that there's no way they can make good food in front of you...no mystery and magic (ahem, read- dirty behind the scenes cooking). i love flavor, and at hibachi they basically don't use any sauces, and i'm not really a fan of the dipping sauces they give you. that being said, i went for my birthday here, and i had tons of fun! i really recommend drinking at hibachi (if you're 21 of course). We did sake bombs, and they are nice enough to set it all up for you (which actually can get annoying since it's like parents babysitting you while you drink)...and i ALWAYS have fun sake bombing. i think it's the speed of drinking...but after being a regular sake bomber in NYC..where there's 50% off sushi and relatively cheap sake bombing...it's sort of weird having people set up your sake bombs. So by the time the chef came out we were all nicely buzzed and really rowdy with the chef, which of course makes the whole experience more fun. And of course, being buzzed, the food tasted a lot better...good dressing on the salad, and i really liked the mushroom soup (especially since i'm not a fan of miso soup). I've been here a couple times, and all the chefs are really fun and nice, and have some cool tricks up their sleeves. the sushi we ordered was delicious and well made, although I couldn't tell you what i ordered. and it was beautifully plated. so basically, i wouldn't eat hibachi just for kicks (it seems that people do this..) but for events with big groups, it's definitely entertaining and fun....we had such a good time that we side tipped the chef, since he did such a good job of making sure we had fun (and i'm usually pretty cheap..being asian and all).

We have never tried the hibachi, but we like the sushi here. They have several choices and the combinations are very good. We prefer the Sex & the City, Chicken of the Sea and Firecracker rolls. The more upscale atmosphere and bar are a definite plus. They did a great job decorating. We like that they are often busy but we have never had to wait. The servers are fast and willing to make suggestions.
(4)Steve B.
I am NOT a sushi eater. As a matter of fact, I will take Korean or Chinese food over Japanese any day and twice on Tuesday; but I have to say I was impressed. We had two "Sex in the City" rolls, and they were fantastic. Followed it up with a light stir fry I can't recall exactly, and I had myself a fine dining experience. The atmosphere was a little loud, but overall very comfortable. The service was prompt, professional and courteous.
(4)Trey L.
I always start with the salad. The ginger dressing is the bomb. I always get chicken and salmon, but the shrimp is good as well. I like the cucumbers and always ask for the chilli paste to go with your meal.
(4)Gina F.
I love this place. I've tried many other places for sushi in the 10 years I've lived here. Nothing comes close to Ichiban.
(4)Bill S.
I've been here for lunch several times. Steak and Chicken with fried rice and salad is only $12! And its more than enough food. Its at least as good as Kobe, Yamato or Benihana. Plus, unlike most restaurants on Windward Parkway, its easy to get your group seated here. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes when bringing a large group.
(4)Tom S.
One of our favorite dinner spots. They have spoiled me for scallops anywhere else because they do them so well here. Don't know what issues these other folks have run into here, as I've never had a bad meal. And we eat here about once a month (at least). Oh and the filet is spectacular as well.
(5)Boris Y.
I used to meet some people here once in a while. Credible foodies, they loved the sushi. I also like it. I took the family for the ichiban it was disappointed. Sushi yes; hibachi no.
(3)Anne J.
I can hardly remember my meal here because it happened so fast. We were so rushed through this hibachi experience that my friend who ordered from the sushi bar had not received his food by the time the rest of our party was almost finished with the full hibachi meal. We saw the flaming volcano turned choo choo train and were over 1/2 way through eating and still no sushi. Now I think this was due to a combination of factors. Our server and secondary servers were taking our plates away before we were finished. Unfortunately, I did not catch on to this until my soup and salad disappeared with food still remaining in the bowls. Hibachi is not my favorite dining experience, BUT I do love that iceberg lettuce topped with ginger dressing. And it was swiped up, and I still had at least three bites left. I leaned over to pick up my 13 month old son's sippy cup, and went for another bite of ginger salad and it was gone. Oh no you didn't. After starting to observe the rest of our party, I realized food was being prematurely carted away from everyone. It's not like they were on a wait and needed the table. There were plenty of tables! With my new awareness, when the server swooped in to pick up my almost 3/4 eaten entree plate, I stabbed her hand with my fork...nah, I just told her I wasn't finished. She was clearly annoyed. Meanwhile at the other side of our table, my friend never received his sushi and canceled the order. I don't find myself in this neck of the woods very often, but I would never done here again.
(2)Deana B.
TERRIBLE... I have been to a number of Japanese restaurants and I was highly dissatisfied with the food. The fried rice is bland and burnt. They do not use salt. would NOT recommend and I'm not impressed.
(1)Caroline K.
I went here for lunch with a very large group of people, we all got hibachi. The hibachi was delicious, I got the steak, everything including the vegetables were cooked perfectly. The only complaint I had was I felt like everything was a bit too salty. Our waitress was great! She keep everyone's drinks full! I would definitely go back. Out of all the hibachi places I've ate at this is definitely one of my top favorites.
(4)J. W.
Tried this place out because of the good reviews. I'd give it one star but the servers and hostess were extremely polite and attentive. I ordered a two roll combo that came with soup or salad. The salad dressing was bitter tasting, despite all the good reviews on here. I had a california roll and a bagel roll. There were bones in my bagel roll. Fish bones. It's supposed to be smoked salmon so I'm not even sure how that's possible. In addition, it was literally small diced pieces of salmon that fell apart and out of the roll when you picked it up. The crab in the california roll was non-existent. I don't know if their regular chef was out sick or they had they were training someone but it was bad. Won't be back; there's too many great places in the area.
(2)Lala D.
Pricey but good. Was not happy with my $9 bacardi and diet coke. Was flat and in a small glass compared to their signature drinks in a mason jar. Great service and our chef was funny. Free ice cream with a candle for the birthday guy.
(3)Dan E.
This was a pretty solid spot. I hadn't had Hibachi in a really long time and we chose to give Ichiban a shot. We went on a week night so there wasn't a wait but the place was still pretty busy. The Hibachi menu is pretty straightforward (same choices you'd pretty much see anywhere) and they also have a decent sushi selection. As an FYI, the sushi is very much on the pricey side. I decided to go with the Steak and Shrimp Hibachi and we also ordered a couple of spicy tuna rolls for the table. The sushi might have been a little on the expensive side but it was very good sushi. I'd easily order it again. It was tasty and fresh. The more I think about it, Hibachi is a great value because you get so much food. They give you the fried rice, the noodles, vegetables, shrimp and then your entree. It's definitely the type of thing you want to do with a group so you can fill the table up. I don't know what sauce they put on those noodles but it's excellent. I ate every last piece of food on my plate. The steak was so-so but the shrimp were very good and they gave you a ton which was cool. I'd have no problem returning to Ichiban -- the food was pretty good and it was definitely an enjoyable meal. The service could have been a bit more attentive but what can you do? Also, the parking lot is definitely a little confusing to get in and out of.
(3)Gregory B.
After a so-so sushi night in Nashville, Ichiban was a nice departure. It is not the greatest sushi I have ever had in my life (I also travel a lot), but i is a solid 4, and perhaps 4.5. Why do I rate this high? The sushi chef is very knowledgeable, the fish is very fresh (nice KingSalmon on special) and the food is art. If you are looking for cheap sushi, this is probably not your place, but if you want authentic sushi that is very nice, this is the spot. Or at least the spot I have found in Alpharetta thus far. As a bonus, since It was a bit slow on Monday, the chef created a nice creation in a shot glass with a bit of sea bass, spicy roe and some sprouts. It was one of the highlights of the night, along with trying the King Salmon. It is always nice to be in a sushi bar where the chef throws in a little extra. Outside of sushi, the ginger dressing on the salad is one of the best I have ever had and the miso soup uses a lighter colored miso that works really well with the salad. If I have one complaint, it is the need to add Asahi Black to the beer menu. I would gladly recommend Ichiban to anyone in the area. From the service to the food, it is a wonderful experience. Will have to bring the kids and see if the habachi cooking ranks as high.
(4)Stacey R.
Slow service, too pricey for what you get. The wait time was much longer than they said initially, we had 4 kids with us. We had called ahead and they said there was no wait, when we arrived 5 minutes later we were told 15 minutes it was more like 40. Did 20 tables show up in 5 minutes? I think not! The management didn't care that the service was terrible. DONE with Ichiban!
(1)James H.
A tad pricier than what I would typically want to pay.. but hey you pay more for the show than for the food. I think that if you're interested in a good show with dinner this is the place to go.. but it's about the same as any other hibachi restaurant. I really enjoyed the salmon sashimi though.. I wouldn't expect a place in the South to have such good sashimi but hey I was pleasantly surprised.
(4)Margery C.
Was in town for a business trip and came here on fluke, since the sushi bar I wanted to go to closed down for business and this was across the street. We were all tired, came in separate cars so we settled here. The sushi wasn't that great and prices are kinda steep but eh- I'm here for business and was feeling home sick. I could tell from the moment I walked in this place that they specialized in hibachi. Personally, not my style of Japanese cooking. But the evening got better as I found Uni in Alpharetta, GA! Yay me! I ordered a few rolls, a few drinks and uni and called it a night - the food, was better than the company and conversation - I would have been better of dining with other colleagues but I had to finalize some things. Ambiance: The Ambiance sucked - very family friendly, not really authentic and I've had fresher sushi elsewhere. I'm still home sick and hungry so this place did not hit the spot. If you are looking for an authentic sushi place, this is not it, they have a lot of interesting rolls with cream cheese and random stuff they Incorporate in their rolls. so form your own deduction based on that. Service: I'm in the south! But southern hospitality did not apply here. The hostess didn't even walk we me to my party's table, she walked me half way in and pointed at a table... The server we had was nice and attentive enough. She tried, but I've had better service elsewhere.
(3)Audrey K.
It was an alright experience. Waitstaff was rude. They kept rushing us to decide what we wanted to eat. When we asked for a recommendation as to which hibachi we should get, the waitress didn't have an answer. The actual food was a little too buttery for my taste, but that may be how it's done... Overall, the filet mignon was tasty as was the shrimp. Also, I got the green tea ice cream for dessert, and I really enjoyed it. Based on the overall experience, it was just alright.
(3)Ricardo S.
I visit just for the Fried Ice Cream, haven't tried the food. If you like Fried Ice Cream this one of the few, if not the only one, options in Alpharetta
(3)Liz R.
I try to swing by here every time I'm in town. I love the crab egg roll appetizers and the Legally Blonde sushi roll. Really friendly staff and great environment!
(5)Shalyn A.
I just ate here tonight for the first time and the food was good and service acceptable. However, I am very dissapointed that they are FALSLEY ADVERTISING lower prices on the menu than what they charge. The excuse is that they have changed their menu and are waiting on the new menus to come in. And when I asked when they r getting their new menus, I was told "in about a month or so". If that is the case, then don't change your prices on your bills until the new menu is out. Also, they are still advertising the lower prices on their website and this is not a reputable practice. When I pointed this out to management, nothing was done to remedy this. Again, I am very dissapointed and will not ever return to the establishment since they are knowingly advertising lower prices and charging higher prices and plan on doing so for at least another month. This is horrible! I took our family and spent almost $150. The price difference varied between 1cent and 51cents per item on the appetizers and the meals. I did not check drinks. I discovered 7 items just by quick glance and stopped there bc I was so appalled at what they were doing and their response. I guess if you don't mind being ripped off, the rest of the experience was ok.
(1)Mitch S.
Decent food, but a bit higher in price than other places and not really anything to show for it.
(3)Pam M.
Loved this place, the food was always so yummy, and my husband and I always made a point of coming here. Went there on my birthday in July. A small german roach was crawling across the hibachi onto the seating area. Gross. They killed it and moved us to another hibachi. We already had our drinks, so we ended up staying. Kind of regretted it, wondered if I was eating roach parts. Almost would have been better to see a large wood roach then the small ones that usually mean infestation. Needless to say, I haven't been back. I'm sad because it was one of my favorite restaurants. I was a little shocked that the manager didn't offer to buy our appetizer or something, but he was apologetic. I still have the willy's just thinking about it. Keep your eyes peeled if you come here...
(2)Dp N.
I was recently in the area and craving sushi! I was pleasantly surprised by the service and food. The reviews on yelp were a not too consistent so I was a bit weary but... I was starving and had 2 kids that felt the same. We were greeted with smiles and served quickly. The waitresses were so sweet to greet my kids, who were a bit tired and hungry, and brought the food out quickly. We went back 2 days later. Their tempura udon was a hit with the kids, and my husband and I enjoyed the roll we ordered!! Can't wait to go back!
(4)Christina W.
I've only been here for lunch for the sushi so I can not speak for dinner or the hibachi part of it. However, I can speak about the sushi. I love sushi. I try to have sushi weekly so I'm familiar with quality of how sushi should be. I live in Marietta and have a special place that I go to called Minatos (so if you are in the area); however, I work in the Alpharetta area. I am pleased with the sushi I get at Ichiban. Everything that I've had there is very good. I can't recall the names of the sushi rolls I've had there except for The Bubble Bee. Many of the other reviews state that the service is a little slow and I agree. Sushi Nami is in the same parking lot and I could flip a coin on which place to go to; however, two other people I've been to both with prefer Ichiban. My two cents: Better than average sushi, under than average service.
(4)Jeff C.
Always a favorite local hot spot. Hibachi and sushi are phenomenal. A couple of sushi rolls I would recommend are the bumble bee and Optimus prime! AND for what's its worth, John Smoltz and his wife are always in house.
(5)Tony N.
Ginger salad! And stuffed jalapeños!! You're welcome!
(5)Peter L.
Poor management of customer expectations. Was told initially it would be a 15 minute wait, and ended up waiting for over an hour. Apparently, same happened with other people, and the bar was completely slammed, and completely overwhelming the lone bartender. Food wise, I've had better. The specialty here is hibachi grill, and it tended to be extremely salty. Prices are reasonable though, but there are plenty of other options in the area.
(2)Talmo F.
I went for lunch. Service was a little slow (there was only one hibachi table) and the restaurant wasn't very busy. Hostess and servers where very friendly and attentive. Food was good, but a little "saucy" for my taste (but I think this was just an off day). I got the steak and chicken which I believe was about $15 plus I got fried rice which was an additional $2 (I think). It's pretty much your run of the mill hibachi place, but I like it. I'd recommend it.
(3)Adam C.
We've gone to several Japanese steak houses around the country. They're all very similar, with nearly identical offerings and techniques. Some do the sliced onion "volcano" trick, while others call it the "choo choo train" trick. Ichiban was my first Japanese steak house experience 15 years ago...in Minneapolis of all places. I had not been back to an Ichiban in all that time, so I was pleased to see the quality of the food had not gone downhill, even if the originality and uniqueness of the "show" has waned somewhat. I can remember my previous trips to Ichiban all those years ago being much more of an experience with more entertainment value. Either I've become desensitized to this over the years, or the same level of effort just isn't being put into it any longer. We all really enjoyed every course, from the salad to the soup and into the entrees. The steak was really good quality meat and the chicken was flavorful. I'm not sure if I'm becoming more sensitive to salt as I approach my 40s, but this food all tasted a lot more salty than I ever remember it being. Overall, it was a fun dining out experience and certainly lived up to all of our expectations.
(3)Jennifer J.
I don't know why this place isn't rated better. Good atmosphere. Courteous staff. Good prices. Excellent sushi. Way better that the Sushi nami place across from it. Skip the rolls and go for the sashimi. The fish is fresh and sweet and doesn't need all the extra stuff to hid the taste.
(5)Marcus O.
i don't know what it is, but all hibachi restaurants taste the same. it's the same ol' ingredients: soy sauce, garlic, butter. this place was no exception ... was hella expensive for ordering off the "do not need a show in front of me" menu. only went once and was never inspired to go back.
(2)Puja M.
I would've awarded 5 stars if the items that are supposed to be served hot were actually hot. Even the Green Tea was tepid. Strange. Service and Food were great otherwise.
(4)Marko D.
I understand at sit in restaurants it is about the experience and quality of food, but to come in and be sat immediately and to wait 20 minutes to put in our drinks order is ridiculous. On top of that once we placed our order, our server disappeared until our food was ready another 20 minutes later. Not a pleasant experience to have to wave her down for another drink. I do not recommend this place unless you want to be left wondering where your food and server is. Food was OK but not great to merit the wait. Will not go there again.
(1)Wendy P.
At Ichiban you have 2 choices -- hibachi or sushi. No matter which one you choose, you will leave happy! Hibachi - fresh ingredients combined with entertaining hibachi chefs equals a fun meal. It never disappointed. Sushi - the rolls are amazing. American Idol is my current favorite. It is a chef special roll with spicy tuna, white tuna, avocado topped with tuna. Mouth watering goodness. If you don't see it on the menu, ask for it. Good for group celebrations, romantic date nights, even a girl's night out. This is definitely one of my favorite spots in the area. It never disappoints.
(5)Chris B.
Blech. My standards are either going up or this particular location is on the express train to yuk. I like Hibachi, and maybe the fancy new shiny Ichiban at Exit 13 is causing this one to fade, but fade spectacularly it is... It started out cool, with its' concrete floor and slate covered pillars and half-walls. It also started out yummy. Today, however, I dined here with colleagues over lunch, and it was absolutely, well - shit. I went off menu and ordered scallops (shocker huh?). The Miso Soup was universally reviled by everyone in my party who tried it. The comment (not so sensitively delivered) was that they must have gone to the Alabama beaches and scooped up some Gulf water, complete with BP crude... it truly was nasty. The main course (scallops) was really not good. The scallops were completely drenched in some oily slime that the cook put on them, and they were covered in burned "something before them" from the grill. I'm really disappointed in this Ichiban. When I worked much closer, it was a mainstay for us at lunch time. I won't miss it.
(2)Lee G.
Grown men playing with their food and setting shit on fire. After all these years, it never really gets old. I still dig this stuff. The show is the same, you know what to expect, but it is all still very cool. I've been yelping on Windward for a while now, and have never been here until tonight. I don't know how that happened. Upon entering, I was impressed with the decor. It is along the same lines as Xian and Sushi Nami, like perhaps they used the same interior decorator. It is classy and elegant. The service was attentive and personable. The food was a little disappointing though. My seafood items were overcooked, some to the point of being crunchy burnt. The rice and veggies were on the verge of being that way. For dinner the fried rice up-charge is 3 bucks per person. Ouch! Stick with the steamed variety. All in all, it was a decent experience. Perhaps I just got the wrong chef or something. Lunchtime is probably the best time to dine here.
(3)Luckie D.
Decent place for lunch. I'm sure it would be good for dinner but I'm an ITP person and don't get out this far after hours. As another hibachi place in another look-a-like cloned ex-urb it's cool. Hey Sombody's got to eat it.
(3)Michael T.
I've been looking for a top-notch sushi place ever since moving away from Orlando several years ago. I wanted a place that served fresh, inventive sushi with a nice variety of options and a casual atmosphere. At the suggestion of one of my Twitter friends (thanks, @maigh!) I tried out Ichiban last night and wasn't disappointed. I can't speak to the hibachi (although from where I was sitting I think everyone was having fun), but the sushi was great. Fresh and inventive, just like I wanted. Traditional sushi and sashimi, of course, then they start to branch out with offerings like lightly seared sashimi and maki like the Firecracker, and the Batman. Dinner won't be cheap (about $5 for sushi and $10 per roll), but it will be delicious.
(4)Kathleen M.
I have a serious thing for hibachi. I'm a total kid at heart and a sucker for a good show, so at hibachi places I throw authenticity to the wind and ask for a ridiculous cocktail with an umbrella, thank you. I arrived at Ichiban disgustingly late (it's reeeeeally far up 400!) and I was impressed at how well the staff handled it so as not to make my dining companions have to sit around, foodless, for my arrival. Typical salad with the awesome ginger dressing along with a good portion of sirloin and really tasty veggies. I think the veggies are my favorite part of the hibachi experience, and Ichiban did them well. All in all, it was a good meal, but I don't think I'd make the trek up there again. If you live or work in the neighborhood, it's a solid spot, for sure. The lunch special is certainly a great price! End note: there was a 6 year old at our table that ordered edamame. I was in total shock, as I didn't know what edamame was until I was in my late teens. Kids these days!
(3)Annie D.
My favorite place for hibachi! My favorites are the crab and asparagus egg roll appetizer and the scallop hibachi. Plenty of yum yum sauce. Service is great and the chef is very entertaining. Must try it.
(5)Angela M.
Pretty decent lunch, especially when the other sushi places in this block of restaurants are busy, though I wish it were a little cheaper. I got the lunch special of spicy tuna roll and 5 piece nigiri with salad (or soup) for $11. The salad was ok, though the ginger dressing was too watery. The fish in the nigiri looked a little old, but tasted ok. The service was attentive and thoughtful, asking all the right questions. They also have hibachi, and you can also order hibachi at the table.
(3)Ryan W.
My wife and 2 year old son went for dinner last night and had a disappointing experience. As stated in numerous reviews, the prices on their menu don't align with what is listed on their website. The food was seasoned well and delicious. Our biggest issue was the quantity. They were, by far, the smallest portion sizes we've ever gotten at a hibachi restaurant. On top of that, the prices are astronomical. Our check was $80 before tip (only 2 glasses of wine @ $5.50 each were in there as far as alcohol goes). We've been to many other hibachi places and spent $50 for far more booze and gigantic portions that can easily make another meal. We definitely will keep searching for a "go-to" hibachi restaurant. As for this one, we won't be going back.

Came here today for a business lunch per the recommendation of colleagues. Upon first walking into the restaurant, I was pleased with the overall decor and atmosphere of Ichiban...didn't feel quite suburban, but more industrial. As is the case with typical Hibachi restaurants, you have a choice of sitting at the Hibachi tables, regular dining room or the sushi bar. Since I had a taste for sushi, I was looking forward to my meal and figured it would be on par with my usual Hibachi experience. To start, we ordered sushi for the table: Spider Roll, Crunchy Shrimp Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll. All rolls were solid, nothing exceptional, but definitely served their purpose in our tummies :-). Where this restaurant disappointed was with the actual Hibachi. I ordered Steak & Shrimp, which comes with Fried or White Rice, Salad or Soup and Veggies. The cook assumed I wanted my steak cooked well done for some reason??? Anyway, I corrected him and it was fine. Beyond that, we had the quietest and most uninspired Hibachi cook in the history of Hibachi restaurants (I'm guessing LOL). In terms of the meal, the Fried Rice wasn't good and seriously lacked flavor...could have been my least favorite ever, which pains me to say because I love fried rice. Even the "yummy sauce" was weird and didn't help the rice, so I left most of it on my plate (probably a good thing for my figure, though). The steak and shrimp were similarly bland, but cooked well and the veggies were undercooked. Interestingly, the portion sizes were the smallest I've seen at a Hibachi restaurant. So, I'm not sure what went wrong, but I suppose the fact that the restaurant never filled up should have been a sign, but hey...there are a ton of restaurants in the area so maybe people exercised their other choices. Also, I will note that service was slower than it should have been given the emptiness of the restaurant. Half of our party had to return to work before the waitress ever showed back up. Overall, not a good experience and I wouldn't see myself returning. On to the next meal...Happy Eating!

We decided to try Ichiban's on New Year's Eve. I have not had hibachi in close to 20 years and we were not disappointed. The chef was friendly and entertaining. Even though they provide sauces, our filet and shrimp was so flavorful right off the grill we didn't need them. Honestly everything was very good from the soup to the salad to the noodles and fried rice. We will definitely visit again.

Upon walking in, the hostess with copious side-boob led us to our table, a roach was found on it. After the chaos died down, our soups and salads were in a random order at random times. 20 minutes after ordering our drinks, they were brought to us. From there on, the service was fine. The food was good- not the best but not the worst. I would not eat here again.

I have been a regular at Ichiban since it opened. I often go for lunch with co-workers, bring family for celebrations, or just a Saturday night out. The point, I spend a lot of money at this restaurant. This Saturday night, I brought a party of 6. As the chef was lighting the grill, the topper of the oil bottle came off and the oil and therefore flames poured onto the table and onto my family. Specifically my thirteen year old daughter. She hit the ground and curled into a fetal position against the wall until we put the flames out of her hair and clothes. She pretty quickly realized she wasn't seriously injured and laughed it off to get the attention off of her since the whole restaurant saw our table go up in flames at this point and were staring at us. It could have been much worse but Ichiban only offered us 15% off our total bill which was still $175. They were actually mad us by the time we left that we were insulted by this. Obviously, we aren't looking for a free meal since we spend so much money here all the time anyway. If they had only done the right thing and comped our meal to ensure that we would keep coming back and tell all of our neighbors, friends, and coworkers how great they handled it. Instead, I am writing this review to ask that you seriously reconsider before taking your family to eat here. I will obviously never be back and can't wait to tell everyone I know how horribly we were treated. A little customer service and doing the right thing would have gone a long way.

My family LOVES hibachi. We used to always hit up Benihana until we found Ichiban. But Ichiban is our spot now. Every chef we've had has been super engaging. My son loves that it isn't just the same ole same with the fire volcano and the shrimp toss (even though they are usually a part of the show- it's among tons of other entertaining little tricks). I always get filet... It's like butter. They also do a lo mein type appetizer along with the rice I haven't had elsewhere that's simple but yummy mixed in the the grilled veggies. We love the Japanese sodas and also not a bad selection of specialty drinks and wine. I always plan on saving something for lunch the next day.... But never do. Only consistent negative is the hostess situation- they give me a blank stare when I ask any question. For example not seating 6 out of the 8 guests of a party (when there are two 4 year olds it's weird to prefer us to wait in the bar area when the last two are minutes away and the place is not even half full) but I digress rules are rules and this is Alpharetta so it's usually a high school girl so whatevs.

Took a group from work to Ichiban this week. Ichiban proved to be your standard Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse and Sushi Bar. As I am not a Sushi fan, I cannot speak for that...but the Hibachi side was done quite well. We had a group of 7 that were there, with a variety of entrees, from steak to scallops...with no complaints. Of course, it was the standard of soup, salad, shrimp appetizer and then entree with rice and vegetables. The cook also does some fun things...the standard alcohol volcano, the "egg drop," and flipping a shrimp to someone. But, this one had a couple of extras! He did "lava from the volcano" and something else I cannot remember right now...adding a bit to the showmanship! Food was quite good...and service was perfectly on par for this type of establishment. Would definitely go back.
