We visited them twice for lunch and the food was tasty and hot. A pleasant change from the mess that is Sri Krishna villas (which is a hit or miss). Service is good. I especially like that they switch buffet items often, so that it's not the same week after week. The food is very delicious. **UPDATE** We keep coming back for lunches very often and the food is still great.

Lunch buffet only $6.99 weekdays, $8.99 weekends, CLOSED MONDAY. I was REALLY surprised because I didn't expect much due to the low price. This is the best buffet for the price!!!! Not just because it's cheap, but because it's GOOD! It's a nice place, tablecloths, glass ware, pretty décor. The usual Indian buffet fare (goat curry, tikki masala/butter chicken, great flavors) without the $12 price. Same great flavors and items as the higher cost buffets, perhaps not as many choices but SUCH a GREAT DEAL!

Summary - Nothing great about this place. The decor is good but the food isn't great. It is a decent size buffet for lunch and the food is not too spicy. Unfortunately, the food is missing the traditional Indian flavor and some of them just were bland. Service is good but again, it was a buffet. Decent place if you are stuck around Mansell and North Point but not worth driving a long distance to visit

While heading out for dinner to Buffalo Wild Wings, I decided to step outside of my comfort zone. Man, I sure am glad I did. Through a yelp search of restaurants in the vicinity, I stumbled across Bombay Flames (across the street from BWW). I wasn't sure what to expect. The decor was cozy. Most restaurants in strip malls are dated but Bombay Flames did a good job keeping the 'tired' feeling out. It was dinner time so buffet was not offered. I ordered the bread service, malgatawny soup, and the butter chicken entree. The bread service is huge. It's enough for 4 to 6 people. My favorite naan in the bread service was the onion naan. Oh, my mouth is watering thinking about it. The malgatawny soup and butter chicken were equally delicious. Now the service... The service was SUPERB. Not sure of the gentleman servers name but he was so courteous and attentive. I will definitely be back to this restaurant!

Buffet was okay, really wish there was more variety/spicy options. I wanted to be sweating upon leaving! For a 6.99 buffet option it was good. Rice was good, goat was delicious! Server didn't talk at all but that didn't bother me. Good value, will come back and try it again!

This place is designed to serve American crowd, even the host treat guest differently ( indian vs American). We were group of 2 people and order food first and there was another group of 5 Americans and they ordered lot of food after us, they got food ahead of us ( ???) Food is also not that great lot of salt in food and their vegetable varieties are not that great. Finally they added 15% service charge for 2 people ( really ?) and its very expensive too I wouldn't recommend this place for Indian crowd. Please stay away.

A brief update on trying a dish on the menu I have never ordered. I ordered Hakka noodles with chicken, listed under the Indian style Chinese part of the menu. It is a generous portion of noodles with vegetables and chicken. This dish is also available with vegetables and egg or shrimp. It was delicious and I would order it again.

I went here last weekend, and I enjoyed the food here. The atmosphere is nice, and there are cloth napkins and nice silverware. Parking is easy. Waiter was polite, but a little odd. The entire time my roommate and I were here, every time he came to the table, he had a smile on his face that he was trying to contain. It made me feel like he was maybe making fun of us, or maybe laughing at our choice of food, or spice level? I don't know, but from the moment he greeted us to the moment we asked for our checks, every inquiry was met with that expression. Maybe they don't see a lot of female pairs come in here together? I don't know. I ended up getting the Mixed Vegetable Sampler ($6.99), which came with paneer pakora, 1 large samosa, and onion and aloo pakoras. I'd say this is a good sized sampler to share between every two people, because everything comes in twos, or is easily divided in half. It's not the kind of appetizer you could buy for yourself in place of a meal. For my entrée, I got the Chicken Vindaloo ($12.99), which comes with rice. My spice level was 3/5, which was just about right. I could see myself trying a 4 at some time, but I would be concerned the spiciness would overpower the spices used. We also requested a pitcher of water be brought to our table, because the water wasn't really coming out fast enough (and this was before we ate--we were just thirsty). They bring you a large platter of rice at the table, to share family-style. In case you were looking for your own plate of rice, but the amount of rice they give you is pretty good. The entrée portion was also a good size, and I was able to eat it for about 3 meals. When I went home, I cooked additional rice and added it, though, to get a bit more out of it. My roommate got a VIndaloo as well (Goat?), and the Bread Basket. There's a reason it's $12.99! It came with 3 layers of naan (butter, garlic, and onion) and some lacha parantha. Picture 12 inch pieces, cut into quarters. But it's worth it, especially if you have a bigger table. Every single one of those fullfy pieces was just fantastic! Obviously homemade, steaming, with a light dusting of garlic, and a warm, fluffy center. Simply fantastic! PROS: The Bread Basket was simply fantastic. Homemade naan. Awesome balance of spices and spiciness. Large parking lot, and easy to find. Kind of fancy, with cloth napkins and glass goblets for drinking. Portions were decent, and the flavor was good. CONS: Gave us one platter for rice, so we had to divide it amongst ourselves. Waiter was polite, but basically laughed at us every time he saw us. When you take the rest of your food to go, they give you Styrofoam. Considering the dishes are heavily sauced based, this isn't the best kind of container for this food.

Bombay Flames is located off Mansell Road and close to Northpoint Mall. A co-worker has been wanting me to try this place out for a few months now because he's a huge fan and mentioned that the pani puri is really good. The only other Indian restaurant to have pani puri on the lunch buffet is The Palace, which is my favorite Indian restaurant (and still is). The interior to Bombay Flames is nice, cozy, and casual. I like the small booth tables fit for two. It's a small restaurant. There were around 10-12 items at the lunch buffet. There was chicken masala tikka, chicken tandoor, goat curry, curry chicken, and other dishes. I have to say that I'm in love with the chana palak. I went back for seconds because it was that good. It taste good with the naan. I was impress with the naan because I usually complain about naan at buffet but it wasn't dry. I couldn't find the pani puri at first but it's at another table on the other side of the restaurant. One thing I will never get tired of at Desi restaurants is my water being filled. If you have read my other reviews, that's one of my pet peeves - when I have to beg for my water to be refilled (especially at Asian restaurants). Overall, Bombay Flames has tasty food. I will come back for the chana palak alone.

Awesome! Might be the best Indian food I've had in Atlanta! Our waiter was great and so sweet! You can't go wrong with the cheese naan! Unreal! I had the lamb saag and the meat was so tender I could cut it with one slice of my fork. My sister had the Chicken Tikka Masala and it was awesome! I had kheer for dessert and loved it. I will definitely be back!

Note: This is my first yelp review Wow, I have no idea what some other customers on here are talking about. Maybe they might've confused this amazing restaurant with another one. I've been to this restaurant a couple of times, and let's just say that this restaurant can easily take the award for best Indian restaurant in Alpharetta area. I've been here a few times to eat their lunch buffet, and I would rate it a full on 10/10! From their food to their amazing customer service, it's just perfect! Anyhow, from their naans to their curries and desserts, everything is A-1. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone who loves Indian Food, and even to those who would like to try!

I've been back many times in the 18 months since I first tried Bombay Flames, always for the lunch buffet. I have never been disappointed. The biggest con of BF for me is that they are closed on Mondays! There are some Mondays that I could have really used some of this deliciously comforting food to help me get through the day. While the selection may be smaller than some Indian buffets in the area, it provides the right variety. Also, BF always seems calmer and cleaner. Perhaps because it is tucked off the road and not a busy stretch, even when every table is full, it seems quieter and more peaceful, so that lunch is not only delicious, but a respite from a hectic day.

Let me start by saying that in my opinion, the service and hospitality at most indian restaurants is minimal to non-existent. Well, the buck stops here because that's certainly not the case at Bombay Flames. Chef Sandeep and his team are amazing people. He is so meticulous with everything from the daily buffet offerings to catering and it shows that he has a passion for quality. I have eaten here at least a dozen times and have had a couple of parties catered by Bombay Flames as well. Chef Sandeep was not only accommodating to a vegan/vegetarian crowd, but he made suggestions on items that would compliment each other. He also made sure that no butter was used on the vegan bread and ensured that everything was kept in separate transport containers. If you're a vegetarian or a vegan, or have a food allergy, you will appreciate the extra consideration that is provided here. Now, getting to the food, I consider the menu to have the best dishes that come out of India and prepared in the most authentic and flavorful way. The spices are consistent and perfect every single time. Some of my favorites are the potatoes and cauliflower, the paneer tikka masala, and the signature appetizer. Everything that I've tried has been mouth watering and very fresh. My dad, who is a carnivore, couldn't stop eating the Chole (chick pea curry) at the last event I had catered. He took 3 servings and asked for a doggie bag, saying that this was the best chole he's ever had. I took a client here once who has traveled all over the world eating indian food and she said that the Tandoori Chicken @ Bombay Flames was the best that she's ever had. I would absolutely recommend Bombay Flames for a sit down dinner and for catering a corporate event or party. Well done Bombay Flames, keep it up! Namaste, y'all!

We were so jaded Indian restaurants that we stopped going to any. But since this restaurant had very good reviews, we thought 'oh what the heck!' Let me just say we should have gone somewhere else. I mean, Outback would have been better. Besides the disappointment and sugary flavor in their chicken tikka masala, the goat biryani was edible BUT even that had hidden bones in it. Yum! It might be a great place for others but for us, it's definitely not our cup of chai. Naa Uh. Oh and the two stars are for the ok rice :) See, I'm not that bad of a critic. :D

Been here a couple times for lunch buffet and dinner. Love the selection ( if you don't know what to order come durning lunch) and flavor and of course the delicious naan

The food is good, but this post is because of their service. This was the second time eating there, we decided to give them another chance because the food itself was good. But once again, we had to wait 20 minutes before the food came out....at a buffet! Instead of refilling the food trays when they are getting low, which is the proper way to run a buffet, they wait until the food is completely gone, then they cook it, then refill it, because they are afraid of wasting food and this wasting money. And none of the food is hot; its room temperature at best, which is not at all how you want to eat thick Indian sauces. A couple of patrons, including an Indian patron, walked out. We were all standing around waiting for rice, naan, veggies, tandoori chicken, etc. I'll be posting pics of near empty trays, and those pics were taken AFTER waiting 20 minutes. Furthermore, I had called 5-10 minutes before arriving at the restaurant to ask them if their buffet was plentiful and filled and to remind them of my experience two days ago. They assured me they had overflowing trays and that the problem was because they were understaffed. They clearly are not, because both days they had numerous waiters standing around doing nothing while customers are waiting for food to be cooked. The whole point of a buffet is that the food is readily available. Here, everyone in your party will eat at different times because one or two dishes are semi-full, but the rest are empty. And when they do come out with more food, they fill it only about 1/3! Also, there was no dessert....the rice pudding was literally soup with no rice kernels in it, and they had replaced the best thing on the buffet - the gulab dessert (forgive me, can't remember the proper name) - with a near empty carrot dish that looked like completely unappetizing scraps. By the time the check cane, we had decided never o come here again. When I went to the cashier to pay, the woman asked us never to return (because she saw me taking pictures of the pitiful buffet and talking to the other angry patrons about our last experience). I told her not to worry, we would never back and that she should check Yelp for a scathing review. The waiters and owners all gathered around in a crowd at the cashier to verbally attack me, and the argument was getting heated and curse words were being slung. Then after I started to walk away, one of the male workers called me a "f***ing b**ch" from across the restaurant. If the place had been filled, every patron would have been able to clearly hear, but because they have no idea how to run a restaurant, there was only one other customer. So now we were in a heated argument from across the restaurant, as I was hurriedly belong my mother and grandmother out the door while these Whackos are yelling. I have called my credit card company to reverse the charge. They are lucky I paid in the first place, when I saw that some other patrons didn't even do so. But after being verbally attacked on top of waiting forever for the mere HOPE of room temperature food, they will never get a penny from me. Never go here!!

I often come here for my lunch on Thursdays and Fridays when I work in Alpharetta, and often do takeout. This review will mostly focus on the takeout quality and the staff's hospitality while I was there to accompany me. I've gotten most dishes, but to cut to the chase my favorite must be their Lamb Biryani or Peas Pullao. The rice is seasoned well, and has quite a bit of kick (they will ask you from a scale of 1-5 how spicy you want it, beware even 3 is pretty spicy and I love heat). The staff always greet you on arrival, and the prices are reasonable for the quality of food and amount you will receive. They do always forget to put in a plastic spoon/fork for me but that's really a nonissue. It's a good restaurant, I will need to dine in if I am to update my review. I will be adding my last star to this place after I eat in.

Service was amazing 5/5 for that! I was excited to come here, but sadly I left thinking that I might not be coming back here... Food: we had the tandoori chicken and lamb seekh and I felt although the chicken was better than the seekh kabab they both were at the end of the day mediocre flavor wise... Tandoori roti was too doughy (too thick to be fully cooked from the inside although the outside was pretty well cooked). Wasn't too happy with the food!

Hands down the best Indian food I have had in the North Fulton area so far. Anyone I have taken there has fallen in love with their food and service. Pulkit is the kindest and nicest server there. Evrything from their Chicken Tikka Masala, Kofta, Paneer Makhni to Naan, Indian Cheese and all desserts are absolutely delicious. My fiancé and I are regulars here and would love to use them for catering our wedding as well!

After seeing the ratings in Yelp we visited this restaurant on a Saturday night just to wait for 25 minutes to get a glass of water. There was j only one guy taking the orders and serving. We had to move out even without tasting the food. Poor service on a Saturday evening. Poor service.

Fantastic little joint for some really great Indian fare, never disappoints. The staff are always really friendly, the food has a great consistency of delicious quality and (for me anyways) they are nearby. Can't beat it for the price, so give yourself a pat on the back if you've been here, if not, go ahead and try it out for yourself. Remember that spice level, if you think you can handle it, go with 4 or 5, don't be a baby. Tandoori chicken is always good, naan is excellent and dal is delicious. Put on your big boy pants and go.

I was craving some Indian food and did not feel like driving to Marietta to my favorite Indian restaurant so decided to give a local restaurant a try. Was totally disappointed. The food was not what I expected after the great reviews I read. Found the food to be on the cold side and the options where not many. Not sure of it had to do that it was a Sunday, but regardless, will never be there again.

Eating here was a great experience. The dining room is clean, the staff friendly (our waiter was hilarious), and the food delicious. Had the tandoori chicken and really enjoyed the zesty flavor. Will definitely return when I'm in the mood for Indian food.

I've written numerous tips on Bombay Flames, but I do want to cover it in a formal review as well. Realize, please: this is not just a token 5-star rating; this REALLY IS as good as Indian food gets. My husband and I first visited Bombay Flames in February of last year, and we were impressed right out of the gate (as my tips reflect). Since then, I've eaten other Indian food in this area, in Atlanta, and in other cities, yet nothing, I mean NOTHING, surpasses the food here. Always fresh. Always good. I've NEVER had a menu item I didn't like or that wasn't perfectly prepared. My favorite, as I've said, is the goat korma. It's a slice of heaven, but it isn't on the lunch buffet - you'll have to visit at dinner time to get it. The lunch buffet is currently $6.99, and it's got as much variety and flavor as you could possibly hope to find in one place. It's also well-tended. You won't find any sloppiness in the way this eatery is run, and the buffet is no exception. Always clean, always neatly presented, and always fantastic. The owner (Chef Sandeep Singh) is so friendly and always willing to educate when we have questions about the food and its origins. Awesome background, read about him here: bombayflames.com/about.h… . Always happy to see us when we come in the door, we are always made to feel super welcome by everyone there. Occasionally, I have culinary dreams about learning how to cook this incredibly appealing food, but then the reality hits me: never in a million years could I duplicate the quality and flavor that Sandeep lovingly creates in his offerings at Bombay Flames. When I consider my permanent inability to reproduce this crucial comfort food, I shed a little tear - but then I realize I can easily make up for my cursed inability - Bombay Flames is right in my back yard, so to speak, & therefore easily and frequently obtainable! And when this lovely little realization hits me? I wipe away my tear, pick myself up, dust myself off, and head toward Bombay Flames to tuck into a little goat korma & kheer consolation for my blessedly temporary predicament :)

Friendly service and excellent food. We had a lunch buffet and the cost of buffet was just $7.5. The ambiance is quite good too, they played piano versions of old classic Bollywood songs which is anytime better than crappy Bollywood music on other Indian restaurant. The best food item was chicken biryani. It was one of the best biryani I had in Alpharetta area. Even they had the perfect naan bread. The gravy items were not that much spicy.( but as compare to their buffet cost it was excellent) I would anytime suggest to have at least one Gulab jamun at the end. It was awesome. The only negative point was they don't have any south Indian food (like dosa, idli etc), anyway I,m not that much fan of south Indian food so that wasn't any problem for me. So overall, Pros : good music, ambiance and food (same as that of Madras chettinad with less food items) Cons : no south Indian food.

Very good Indian lunch buffet for $7.99 on the weekends (12-3:30pm). Thanks to Yelp for helping discover this place - I was meeting two friends last month who live in the N. Fulton area and Bombay Flames showed up near the top of my search results. It also helped to see my trusted Yelp friends Angela M, Yane Y, and Paul P give great reviews too. Service was nice, and it's always a good sign to see Indian customers in an Indian restaurant :) Buffet included everything you'd expect - chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, chicken tandoori, chicken curry, goat, spinach paneer, mixed vegetable pakoras, chickpeas, basmati, naan, and more. They also had a separate chaat station and our server prepared a nice plate for us :) The location is a little far but close to 400. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd definitely go back. If you live in this area and love Indian food -- or you'd like to try Indian food for the first time -- then I highly recommend you check this place out. FYI - they also have lunch buffet during the week from 11:30-2:30pm.

This is our go-to for Indian food in the NOTP area. It looks like a little hole-in-the-wall, but it's worth a trip! We've never been for lunch, but the dinner is fantastic. We had an amazing Indian restaurant in Cincinnati, and this place gives them a run for their money. We are vegetarians, so have only sampled the vegetarian options, but have always been pleased. We took two friends who used to live in India here separate times, and both were thrilled by the varieties of food offered and the quality (and one of them eats meat, so that's at least one vote in approval of a meat dish!). The food does take a little while to come out, but it's always delicious, and the service is friendly. One of the other reviews mentioned a waiter who was laughing at them, but we have never experienced anything except a waiter who was a bit awkward in his friendliness who often waits on us. If it was the same guy, we think he was considerably misjudged. We drive across town to eat here!

Well this is tough. I do like the food here. I just finished my third meal here and The food is good, but not mind blowing. The atmosphere is not great, very quiet and low lighting with very old looking furnishings and table cloths with uncomfortable seating. It is a very busy lunch spot as all of the Roswell/Alpharetta business people tend to hit this spot for lunch. The reason this is tough, is because as I got up for my second plate of food from the Buffett, I saw a cockroach crawling all over my table! I decided to ignore it and go get a second plate, but upon returning to my table saw the cockroach climb under the table. I never said anything to an employee, but this does need to be fixed! UPDATE: The owner has reached out to me after this review and offered me a free lunch Buffett and assured me that their pesticide service is taking care of this issue and it had never happened before. Great business practices for the free lunch offer! Thanks Bombay Flames!

This was, by far, the worst Indian restaurant I have ever eaten in. The chef was filling water and working the cash register. Odd! He did not have vegetable curry on the menu but said he could make it for me. He brought me a heap of vegetables with no curry on it and said that he forgot and he would bring me some sauce on the side. When they finally brought it -- it was NOT curry!! This is an Indian restaurant and he has no idea what Curry is? The food was horrible and the service was even worse. We were there three hours and had to finally ask for our check. I would never go back to this restaurant.

Very nice selection of veg and non-veg items for buffet. Reasonable price. Good taste. However there was a "small cockroach" like bug in the water that they served. The staff was very prompt and friendly to correct it.

Pretty average Indian fare. Tried their yellow dal which was just ok, and the paneer was poor. Friendly service, but it doesn't make up for the quality of food.

Don't know why the reviews are so high. Maybe there are no Indian places to eat in this area but with that said this place is not bad either. Lunch Buffet was small but complete and everything tasted good. Additionally how can anyone complain on a $7.95 price which actually makes this place a 3.5! I would return if in the area.

This place is one of those hole-in-the-wall but AWESOME Indian restaurants!!! Don't let the outside fool you...it is next to, I think a Ramada Inn, which is part of a strip mall. The actual restaurant does not face Mansell, it is perpedicular because that is how the strip mall is setup. My wife and I have tried Indian food all over Northern California (San Mateo, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Santa Clara, etc.), Wisconsin, Devon Street in Chicago, and Alpharetta. This place tops Devon Street in Chicago....which may come as a shock, but it does. Our favorite dish is the Chicken Tikka Masala, and this place has the best one yet!!! The chicken chunks are moist and large, the sauce is to die for, and the Naan AND Parantha are awesome, and the rice is very generous. They DON'T skimp on the size of the chicken or the portion of the rice which in my opinion is not traditional Indian Food. I can say that because of the vast amounts of Desi friends I have from Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh, and we even eat the formal way - with our hands. Oh, and of course, the Mango Lassi is excellent!!! Now, are the booths the most comfortable? No. Do the tables reach you comfortably, and are they NOT wobbly? No. Is the restaurant in an awkward place? Yes, but the area is definitely safe. The developer just did a poor job in zoning the place, and it is one of the last commercial establishments on Mansell before hitting Haynes Bridge, where everything is residential. Text book hole in the wall with delicious food!

Love the food here. I have been coming here for some time and my husband and I think it's one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you go during the lunchtime hours they have a wonderful buffet that suits everyone's taste for Indian food. Everything is rich in flavor and cooked to perfect spice! If you order off the dinner menu the portion sizes are more than generous. The service was very good. I highly recommend this place.

********* Best Example of WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ******** There are many good reviews about the food at Bombay flames and we thought of trying this place but looks like we weren't destined to eat there (for good). We went there for lunch buffet and reached @ 1:15 PM and their buffet closes at 2:30. We noticed that all the curries were almost finished. We asked the server if they are going to refill those and he said yes surely.. Within seconds we heard some noise and heard a lady(owner or manger) speaking very loudly and saying that we are not going to refill for 2 people and if they want to eat here they should have come early..what do they think and blah blah.... I am thinking like whoo...it's more than one hour before you buffet is closed. Do they expect only 2 people coming for next 1 hour (is their restaurant that slow?). Anyways the server didn't even bother to come and tell us that they wouldn't be able to refill, but that lady kept on shouting so that we can hear her. It was so rude and I never saw such bad customer service. We simply said OK and left the place to head over to Madras Chettinad (which is the best restaurant in food quality and customer service). Had people at Bombay Flames politely told us that sorry we won't be able to refill, we would still have ate and might have returned in future but this worst experience made sure that we would never return and in fact tell everyone we know to not go there. P.S - Earlier I was planning to host a very big party but now ...... I don't want my guests to be embarrassed. And learned one thing - How Not to Behave with a customer and saw an example of poorest customer service. Are you Hungry .. Beware..- Don't go there..

highly unprofessional establishment; the buffet is a joke...very little food portions and you wait a long time until they add to it. when you ask for more food the manager/owners are very defensive and rude.

This is not so much a standard Indian restaurant as it is an upscale restaurant that happens to serve (mostly) Indian food. That's not a criticism, just a distinction. If you're looking for more of a standard Indian place, Madras Chettinaad is right up the street. Bombay Flames has gone through several incarnations as other restaurants, none of which I'd tried. They have a large dining area and a separate bar, which I didn't really check out. We were there relatively early on a Saturday, and the place was just ramping up; there were only two other sets of patrons while we were there, outnumbered by the staff. Our server was very knowledgeable and provided assistance vs. the menu. The menu has some traditional Indian dishes, some variants, and some things that were further removed from Indian food. I picked something relatively familiar (I think it was vegetable tikka masala but I don't recall specifically). It was good, though, as was the naan. My wife also liked her dish, which was also more on the Indian side of the spectrum. The drinks were fairly strong, at least that evening. Depending on the situation (how adventurous I was feeling, how upscale were we looking to go, etc.) I would definitely consider a return to Bombay Flames.

2nd time and solid experience again so kicking it up to a 5. The owner is such a warm, welcoming fellow--he remembered me and thanked me for my first review! Again, chicken tikka masala was excellent w moist, flavorful chicken. The naan...was there a hint of garlic? Biryani....the spinach dish (spicy!), potatoes in a tomato/cilantro mix..... So good! Great comfort food on a rainy GA day.

If I could I would give zero stars, someone has to teach them the basics of making Indian food. Every thing I took from the buffet was left behind as it was either too much salt or too much of chat masala. I believe the chef does not know how to cook so he was hiding the food taste behind salt and chat masala. I would not go there again.

Went on a recent Saturday night with my friend who is from India and is quite the food nut, especially when it comes to Indian cuisine. We'd been here before, and on our previous visit, the food was great, but the service was slow. So, we had low expectations this visit about how quickly we would eat. Well, this visit was a complete 180 from our previous visit in terms of speed. We were greeted quickly, and our order was taken efficiently and carefully. I ordered the malai kofta and was asked how spicy I would take it. I thought a 4 might be good, but both our server and my friend suggested I go with a 3. When my friend also ordered a 3 level of spice, I changed mine to match. As it turns out, this was a wise decision indeed! Apparently they take the flames part of their name seriously. Well, our food was delicious, and the service was spot on this visit. I highly recommend this place, but with the caveat that on occasion you might encounter slow service, so just don't come in starving and you should be fine every time.

Let's be honest... The only thing to dislike is that it's a secluded location that makes it impossible to stumble upon. I've been going here for years and refer all my Indian food loving friends to them ad nauseam. Personally, I'm a chicken tikka masala addict and theirs is incredible. My wife loves their vegetarian options. Their food is well priced and their buffet, unlike other places, is just as high quality as their individual dishes. The owners are incredibly nice people who ask about my family and tease me about not showing them enough baby pictures. Great food, great people, great value.

If you are not looking for the place, you would totally miss it. Don't be fooled by the appearance because the food is delicious. We love going to the weekend buffet, for 7.99, you get a good selection of Indian favorites such as chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken. The people are always so friendly and welcoming. This is not a date place, rather lets stuff our faces with unlimited Indian food for reasonable price type of place.

What a great buffet with all your favorites. All for $7.50. So pleasant and just a delight. You know its good when most of the client are Hindus.

Bombay Flames is a little hidden restaurant next to Ramada hotel. The food & service were both fantastic. The dinner prices are not cheap but you get a lot of food. We stopped by here on a Saturday night & decided to go with the special items on their menu: bombay flames special biryani & tandoori mix grill - both very flavorful & delicious. We're both very hungry but still couldn't finish all the food. Private lot with plenty of parking spots since it doesn't look like any other business sharing the same lot is open for business. Seems like they do a lot of to-go orders here. ***UPDATE*** On our 2nd visit with a big group, we tried some other items on the menu: ~butter chicken - amazing!! we got spicy level 3 and it was perfect... we ended up with 3 butter chicken orders among other items ~ lamb biryani - fantastic! ~ garlic naan - just perfect ~ chicken tikka masala - tasted pretty similar to the butter chicken but I'm guessing with a lot less butter lol still delicious

Came here after a morning movie at the nearby North Point Mall. Does not look like much on the outside when you drive up, but inside, it's incredibly tasty. The lunch buffet was set up and it was one of the better buffets in terms of selection I've seen in a while. Everything was quite fresh and the best, most moist Tandoori Chicken I've had in a while. A few quibbles, the chicken in the curry chicken was a bit dry and the goat in the goat curry had too much fat left on, but those are the only quibbles. The chicken biriyani was a neat addition and all the cream sauces were quite good. As a fan of Indian cuisine, I have to say Bombay Flames ranks up there as among the most flavorful restaurants we've visited in a while. The spice level is average to just below medium in the dishes but nothing was "hot." I'm not a fan of hot spicy dishes so everything here was just right. In Alpharetta and craving Indian cuisine, this will hit the spot.

I've been looking for a good Indian restaurant in the Roswell/Alpharetta area and I finally found it. I got this take out one night and wasn't disappointed. Good selection. Good food. I'll be back.

Thanks for the find Yelpers! I sadly would have never discovered this place on my own. It's really tucked away on Mansell. The lunch buffet was on the smaller side, but was an amazing value ($6.99 on a weekday!). I thoroughly enjoyed everything I had. The service was attentive, friendly, and warm too. Great mix of veg and meat options. Check them out!

This review is based on one visit. While I typically wait to visit at least twice, I wanted to get my thoughts on paper (well, internet) and have them for next time! The lunch buffet on the weekend (yes! they have buffets on the weekend) was $7.99 (surely prices will be subject to change). We were in just after they opened and we were only one of two tables there. The restaurnant is small but nice. I came in jeans and t-shirt and felt like I was a little under-dressed; however, they did not discriminate. (Thanks!) Our server was sweet as ever. The buffet probably had about 10 dishes to choose from but they were all the popular dishes (such as chicken tikka masala, cabbage masala, goat curry, chicken curry, chicken biryani, etc.). Apparently they serve mostly northern indian foods. By the time we had left, 3-4 indian families had arrived and were getting started!! The cabbage masala - spicy as anything!!! get ready to drink lots of water! The chicken biryani - good! not as spicy as the cabbage but it had a kick to it! chicken tikka masala - this was sweet and good! i would order again. All in all, we were very pleased and would come back again!!!!!

Wow. Best Indian cuisine I've had on this side of town. Rivals Vatica for authenticity, but surpasses them for selection and spiciness. The only dish I didn't try was the fish masala. The garlic naan: fantastic to top with your favorite dish. The manchurian chicken and cauliflower dishes won for flavor; soooo good. My chicken seekh kebabs and the eggplant masala were also very tasty, although a little off-putting to look at. Best veggie samosas I've ever tasted and you must try the CVCT. We're definitely going back!

As it usually goes, those hole-in-the-wall places that don't look too appealing from the street, epecially when cozied up to a hotel, usually have the best food. You just can't go by outside aesthetics sometimes. It's a fact. The point: This is the best Indian food I've had in Atlanta, hands down. To start with, their dipping sauces are fantastic, especially the tamarind sauce, which is out of this world - perfect flavor, perfect spice, perfect sweetness. I grew up in the Caribbean; I've had my fair share of tamarind sauces and this is IT. They have lots and lots of different kinds of naan, which made me way too excited. Seriously. NO ONE should get that excited about naan, but I did. And it was GOOD. I had the garlic one, and it was thin, light and really flavorful -- a great complement to my meal. The samosas are also amazing; they were stuffed full and I could taste the ginger. My husband's chicken chili was full of chicken. I say that because I'm so used to Indian places skimping on the meat, but not here. I had the chicken vindaloo and it was the best I've ever had. We had to be rolled out of here. (Okay, not really, but we might as well have been...)

This review is for the lunch buffet I have now eaten at Bombay Flames twice for their lunchtime buffet. I usually eat at India Chef, but their buffet is only available on the weekends. I also have eaten at Mayuri near North Pointe Mall. I have travelled extensively in my life and almost never eat Indian food outside of a major city with an Indian (Indian-American) population. There are motels all throughout the south with "Indian" restaurants attached that are downright scary. The smells are powerful and overwhelming. A major problem with all buffets, and not just Indian themed ones, is that the food sits around for too long. I solve this by always getting to the Indian buffet when it just opens. I knew that there was an Indian restaurant next to a Ramada Inn in Alpharetta, and that combination kept me from going there for years. If not for the Yelp reviews of Bombay Flames, I never would have ventured in there. Bombay Flames is very clean and the buffets are kept tidy. A Gentleman was working on the various serving trays when I got there, keeping them all neat and the food appetizing. The price for lunch is under $8.00. The buffet features Tandoori Chicken, several curries, three or four vegetable selections, salad and nan bread. There are also at least two desserts. The food is very good and the price can't be beat. The staff is very attentive and polite and the tables are clean and tidy. All the food was very tasty and I will be returning to Bombay Flames regularly.

We came here a few weeks ago with a large group and have been craving it ever since. Today, we finally made it back for the lunch buffet. The servers are very attentive and fresh food is continually added to the buffet. We loved being able to try so many different items. There was so much to try that we only made it halfway down the buffet. My favorite today was the navratan korma. I can't wait to come try the rest! Also, very reasonably priced. Yum!

Creamy tasty comfort food...drool. If you are looking dr warm creamy gravy saucy stuff to drown rice/naan in, this is the place for you. Malai kofta- creamy and omg so tasty Chicken tiki masala- buttery creamy Pakoras- pretty good Lamb roll thingies Onion naan Palak paneer- usually my favorite Indian dish but strangely not here, a little bland.. But not bad still, just not as awesome as the other stuff Lunch buffet is still on, about $7.99 all you can eat...can't complain! Regular menu more average priced- if ordering off reg menu, we wouldn't come here "just bc it's cheap." Clean, but decor is old and dated. Not coming for atmosphere but they do keep it neat. Service is pretty good, friendly. Con: You do leave smelling like Indian food...

This review is strictly for their catering services--I have not had the fortune to venture here in person! For starters, I was amazed that my friends were able to get most of the dishes vegan and gluten free (except a few in the spread such as raita and naan). That is a hard feat in Indian cooking and very rare at most restaurants. If you have food restrictions, these guys are flexible! I tried their rice, salad, pakoras, gobi and aloo, chole, and navratan korma. All were excellent and not super heavy or creamy (I did avoid the paneer as that did look really creamy and I can't eat dairy these days anyway). Their chutneys were bursting with flavor, the rice was not oily and the salad was fresh and crisp. Pakoras were crunchy not wilted. The gobi and aloo dish, chole and navratan korma were pretty similar to each other in terms of their sauce bases but very tasty. I loved that I didn't feel heavy or gross after the meal which is normally what happens after eating at most Indian restaurants. It seemed they did a great job too with the salt levels because I didn't feel parched and dehydrated afterwards either. A lovely, delicious meal that would definitely lead me to visit the dining room in person someday!

Holy Cow! I have traveled far and wide and tried Indian food on all of my journeys. This place hits Indian food out of the park. The atmosphere is nice and not over done. Very clean and pleasant. The staff are very helpful and efficient. The food is not truly able to be put into words. This is the first Indian restaurant I have been to in many years where all the dishes taste entirely different from the others. I tried the buffet and all the items on it. OMG!!!!!!! This is the first place where the tandoori chicken had full flavor and was moist. The selections were outstanding. It would be difficult to find a bad dish unless you just didn't like Indian food, even then the tandoori chicken should be pleasing to anyone who likes good chicken. The curries were flavorful without being too spicy for non-spicy lovers. The biryani was very good. The host even made me a sample of the street foo, can't remember how to spell the name, and it was full of flavor and a new taste experience that should be tried by all who eat here. The korma had a sweetness to it, in the appropriate way. The Chole was tasty. The Palak Paneer was scrumptious. The pakoras were out of this world. I could go on, but alas, try this place and keep eating here.

I was skeptical when I walked in, but the staff and the food changed my mind positively. I would have given it 5 stars had the variety in the buffet menu been greater. The service is EXCELLENT, and I have high standards. The staff is very courteous and friendly. For the first time in a long time, I was asked if I wanted my plates taken instead of being rudely taken. When I asked for fresh naan, they informed me really quickly (something that places like Bombay Cafe and Madras Chettinad won't do in a thousand years). Price is extremely reasonable - around $10 for the weekend. Plenty of parking. Although the decor can improve, overall, I'll definitely come back and recommend this to my friends.

Continuing my search for the best Indian food in OTP North, I visited the highly-acclaimed Bombay Flames. Like most Indian restaurants that I have visited, the exterior (and interior) of the place was lacking in the aesthetics department. Nevertheless, I noted that they had additional seating near the cash register at the back of the dining room for take-out orders (a thoughtful idea) and what appeared to be a separate room for private functions. The service was adequate - it looked like the manager was training a new waiter the evening of our visit - putting service behind. That said, when the manager was able to find time, he visited our table to check on us and chat. He was friendly and conversational. Per our usual, I ordered the Butter Chicken (Murgh Makhani) and my wife ordered Chicken Tikka Masala. Together, we shared a couple orders of naan as we normally do. Even though we had ordered the naan, we still got a big helping of rice (definitely no shortage of carbohydrates for us!). I was very satisfied with every element of our meal, aside from a rogue small piece of chicken bone that nearly took out one of my molars. I'm not gonna harp on this error too harshly, I recognize that it's going to happen from time to time. The Butter Chicken was just right - rich, flavorful, and moderately spicy. I could say the same for the Chicken Tikka Masala. The naan was good too - nice buttery flavors, flat with puffy soft edges. Even the rice was flavorful and aromatic. Though my quest continues in search of the best Indian cuisine in the area, I have definitely found some delicious eats here.

I went to the restaurant for the lunch buffet. The buffet was below average. The naan was cold. I tried to get management to serve me some fresh naan and they refuse. Also the Tandori chicken didn't have any flavor or taste. If you are use to good Indian food don't waste your time.

Had their lunch buffet. It's good value for money but not exceptional quality. There's a limited selection but they seem to keep the buffer well stocked. The service (filling my water and taking away dirty plates) was fine so I expect proper evening service would be too. No dish I had stood out in a good or bad way. I may go back but there are better around this area (but not as cheap).

The garlic na'an here is completely dope. Start with an order of that. Follow with any of the dishes that have the little "house specialty" icon next to them. I've quality tested several of them in preparation for this review. All very good. And, they're not afraid to dial up the spice. Medium spicey(aka a "3" out of "5") is way spicier than, say, Popeye's fried chicken (I know, I know...they don't serve fried chicken FWIW.) A "5" is probably Man Versus Food hot. They actually have a decent wine selection (some Indian restaurants don't), and the nights I've been there, have offered to open a fresh bottle just for by-the-glass purchases. Service is friendly. Owners sit at the back and survey everything while the nice wait-staff handles the dining room. Bombay Flames sits in a modest location next to a vacant building that promises to become a billiards hall. Or so the Kiwi shoe polish writing on the windows say. Bombay Flames...BF. Great place for a quiet, delicious Indian meal.

Waited 45 minutes after calling them for a biryani takeout. They said it will be ready in 15 to 20 minutes. We went there after 20 minutes and sat for 25 minutes more and just left after wasting all that time for a single biryani. Never going back again.

Returned last night and I must give kudos again. This place just gets better and better. Evening ambience is nice and can be romantic. Lighting is subtle, food is still excellent and the crowd is diverse. Lots of locals and that's what makes this a treat. Friendly service and awesome food. The tikka masala is my favorite as are the samosas. Still a great value!

Yes yes yes! I have been searching for an Indian restaurant to call home after relocating from Chicago, and Bombay Flames is the winner! I was so happy to stumble upon them. I've now been in once for dinner and twice for lunch (three times after this week's planned stop-in). I wasn't sure on my first visit. The A/C wasn't working and it was a hot summer day. Walking in, I was met with hot, humid, unstirring air. Not a good start. And it was my waiter's very first day. I seemed to know more about Indian food than he did. I was questioning my choice. But everyone was EXTREMELY friendly, and better yet - the food was delicious. I requested spicy (it seems that especially here in the south, ethnic restaurants feel the need to tone down for a more delicate palate), and the sauce with my paneer tikka masala was so good I wanted to lick it off the plate. The naan was excellent (although I didn't need it with the abundance of rice served with my entree) and the gulab jamun I had for dessert were like little sweet balls of heaven. Soooo good. My husband joined me for two separate visits at lunch time. He's less of an Indian fan than I am, but he loves it, too. I knew I had found a great spot when he asked if we could hit it for lunch without any prodding from me. Great food, great service, and you can't beat the value for lunch buffet.

This place is solid in terms of taste. I've been here a few times and it's never the case that the food doesn't taste good. That being said, there's a reason this place is called Bombay Flames. Sometimes the food is incredibly spicy. In fact, the levels of salt and relative spiciness can vary heavily from day to day, as well as from dish to dish. Most recently, their air conditioning unit broke down so the combination of spicy food and warm temperatures left me a bit sweaty. Service is pretty good though.

We have been craving good Indian food and were not disappointed at Bombay Flames. The food was delicious and the service was so friendly. We had shrimp curry, chicken tikka masala, buttered naan and veggie samosas. Everything was spiced to perfection, not too hot but complex with rich flavors. The chef and owner Sadeep came out and introduced himself and invited us to come back for their $6.99 weekday buffet which I will definitely be back for - probably this week! The location as others have mentioned isn't fancy but don't let it deter you from a great dining experience.

This is just around the corner from my office and I've enjoyed their lunch buffet quite afew times. Love their chicken tikka masala (which they always seem to have in the buffet) and always enjoy the rest of the offerings as well. I've yet to make it there for dinner, but can highly recommend their lunch.

So, last night was the big test for Bombay Flames - we went as a group of 14 Brits! This is a challenge for any Indian restaurant because: 1. Brits grow up knowing and loving (actually being addicted to!) excellent, very spicy Indian cuisine. They are picky about anything less than stellar. 2. Brits drink lots of beer and wine with their Indian food. 3. Brits tend to get rather loud and unruly when they drink lots of beer and wine with their Indian food. Given all this, I'm delighted to say that the meal was a huge success. Having such a large group allowed us to try a very broad sampling of the menu, and it was all delicious! The service was excellent - we did not feel in any way hurried, but the empty glasses we always promptly filled, and fresh plates of hot food seemed to continuously stream from the kitchen. We will certainly be back, and I imagine the other dozen Brits that got introduced to Bombay Flames last night will each be making their own way back there. BTW, the fact that the restaurant has a private room for large parties such as ours is important - not only to the enjoyment of our group, but to the other diners who were able to dine in reasonable peace and isolation from the crazy Brits!

I found the food here to be quite good. Bombay Express is a small-ish restaurant that's easy to miss if you're not looking for it, but it is definitely worth a visit. The food was tasty. Everything on the lunch buffet was spiced correctly, and even as some dishes had a little heat, nothing was uncomfortably hot. The buffet had some nice crowd-pleasing selections on it. Everything seemed fresh. There is also a small "chaat" table where you can construct your own pani-puri (or variations thereon). I imagine this place is packed for lunch during the week, and I was glad my family visited there on a Saturday. The other patrons who came in during that time were all South Asian folks. And service was very, very good. They took good care of us, and I will happily go back if I'm ever in the area.

A little place out of the way, but very quaint and authentic. Ordered a variety of dishes that were done very well, not inexpensive but the real McCoy which is not always easy to find in Indian restaurants in the US. They will dial in the level of spice you prefer which is not always easy to find as well.

Updating my review after a recent visit. This was my first Indian Restaurant when I first visited Alpharetta and I can say by far the best Indian Restaurant I have been to. I am a vegetarian and I really liked the vegetarian dishes and breads. My friend who is a non vegetarian told me that they also serve good non vegetarian varieties. I also recently went for the buffet with my office colleagues. They have decreased the price of buffet which is a good thing. I enjoyed the variety of the buffet. My colleagues were visiting the place for the first time and they were happy with the service and food. The lunch buffet was jam packed with people. There was a queue but it was not that long. The wait time was approx 4-5 minutes. I think they were doing pretty well in their service and maintaining the quality of food. I would definitely recommend this place to others. They also have delivery service.

My husband and I were really craving Indian. We had previously tried Sri Krishna, and though the food there was flavorful, we found the service lacking. So we decided to try Bombay Flames for a mid week buffet lunch. I'm so glad we did. The chef/owner Sandeep welcomed us with a smile the moment we walked in the door, asked if we'd been there before and directed us to the buffet. The restaurant has character. There are Indian themed colors and decorations adorning the walls. It is a very bright and welcoming atmosphere. The food: there was a selection of mild, medium and spicy dishes. Being a weekday buffet there were probably less selections than during the weekend. But we did not mind because the price of $8.99 was just right! There were the favorites/ staples of chicken tiki masala, naan and rice pudding (served every day), One of my dessert favorites, gulab was also offered. It was delicious! My husband tried all the other dishes and liked each one. The food was fresh, warm and flavorful. The chicken tiki masala and rice pudding were phenomenal! The service: our water glasses were filled without having to ask. Our tables were cleared each time we walked back up to the buffet. The staff was friendly and the owner stopped by our table to chat for a moment. He explained how he took over management of the restaurant about a year ago. We had a very positive and enjoyable experience, left with satisfied and full bellies... and will definitely return.

Coming from Europe where Indian food is a lot more popular we've found it difficult to find good Indian food in several years of living here. Bombay Flames is a notable exception and is pleasure to eat at. The location, right next to the Ramada isn't very prepossessing but inside they've made a tasteful effort with the decor, disguising the 'mall box' structure. Service we found excellent. Helpful, pleasant, and not 'over-attentive'. On a recent visit we enjoyed the paneer pakora, the chicken tikka and and an okra vegetarian curry. Value was excellent and we'd certainly rate this place highly.

Me and my family are Indian and decided to check out this nearby restaurant bc of all the great reviews. First off this building used to house another Indian restaurant before bombay flames took it over- the inside and the set up and the furniture are the exact same, they've done nothing to re-brand this restaurant as their own. Inside needs better lighting to improve ambiance. We went for dinner and the parking lot is not very well lit and I guess the bulbs on the Bombay Flames sign were fuse and so the lot was not very inviting. The service was a lot better than most indian restaurants, which for some reason is rare to find. The server was very nice but just seemed a bit disorganized/inefficient when taking orders and bringing items out and laying it on the table; put it at one end and asked us to pass everything down. Ordered the bhel puri for appz with 3 /5 scaled spice, which was too spicy for ppl that like spicy food- pretty good but just order 2/5 for spice. Tandoori chicken app was horrible, super bland! Chicken tikka masala entree should be under the dessert section bc of the amount of sugar it seemed to have- not good. Goat rogan josh was ok and lots of variety of naans and bread to choose from. They def made the food fresh but for some reason it all came out warm instead of hot. Anyways I'm surprised at the 4star avg reviews, prob won't return.

I've been visiting Bombay Flames many times over the past few months for dinner. Each experience has been truly great. The food here is as authentic as it gets, the service is very warm and friendly, and the owners are terrific hosts. Bombay Flames outclasses all the other Indian restaurants in the area by a solid margin. We usually start off with Haywards 5000, my favourite brand of Indian beer which I highly recommend. We also get the Chilly Paneer (dry) for a starter. Indian beer tends to be strong, and it's customary to eat a spicy appetizer with it. For a main course, I recommend either the Korma or Roghan Josh - either goat or lamb, as per your preference. I get the Tandoori Roti bread to go with it. The naans are also good. I highly recommend this restaurant - definitely my favourite. The atmosphere is quiet and casual.

The staff here are incredibly friendly, and the prices are decent. I thought the food was on the bland side.

We have lived in Atlanta for 20 years, and last night was the best Indian food we have had in the Atlanta area. I had the Rogan Josh (a recommendation from the chef/owner's wife), my wife the Manchurian Chicken. The service was excellent. If you love Indian food, this is the place to go.

Solid food. Paneer pakora, lamb vindaloo, chai (no sugar please), chicken and rice. Would have liked to order even more! Friendly service.

My fiancé is Indian and we have not found many great indian restaurants in GA. Especially since her mom's cooking is amazing... her family is from Kerala. I found Bombay Flames on Google and we decided to go there. The manager, Leo, was extremely friendly, the waitress was very very nice and informative and the food was amazing. I had the Chicken Curry and She had the Lamb Vindaloo and we shared an order of Keema Samosa's. INCREDIBLE. The Chef cooked it the perfect spice (I ordered it spicy), everything was fresh and we were both very satisfied. Needless to say we will be coming back here on a regular basis. Especially since it is only two exits away from my home. LOL! Kudos to the chef and entire staff of the restaurant.

An amazing hidden gem!!! We have only been to the buffet, but if dinner is anything like the buffet, I HIGHLY recommend this place!! This is our 3rd time going and quality/taste have been consistent this far. They usually have 3-4 vegetarian dishes, and 3-4 chicken dishes with 1 goat dish. I always get the chicken tikka masala, which is always delicious! The naan is soft and so good! The best part? $7.99 for the weekend buffet and $6.99 for the weekday..can't beat this place!!

This "restaurant" is hidden in the back of an anonymous strip mall. As soon as we entered, we were jarred by cheap plastic furniture seating that looked direct-delivered from Wal Mart. There was abundant plastic. Plastic jewel fixtures on wall lighting that looked repurposed from Pretty Pretty Princess, a children's board game from the early 1990's. We arrived in the afternoon for the buffet, which had already been picked though, vulture-like. The romaine lettuce of the "salad" was browned and stale. The basmati "rice" was, you guessed it, hard as nails. We suspected this restaurant's abundant love of plastic, as manifested in decor, had also been thrown into the Chicken Tikka Masala. Because of this restaurant, I can now proudly state I've tasted chicken approximating the consistency and texture of a car tire. Then, when we told the server our food wasn't fresh, the lead cook responded not with a "Sorry Ma'am, it's on the house" or even, perhaps, an apology, typical of a restaurant with a modicum of respect for customers. Instead, he began to raise his voice with an emphatic DONT SAY THAT! and a demand that we pay for food which, quite frankly, resembled the byproducts of a nuclear disaster. How the ratings for this restaurant are so high on Yelp baffles me, but I suspect the managers have a hand in it. Don't spend even one cent at this so-called "restaurant".

I'm not Indian, however, I love their food. This is a very good restaurant with warm atmosphere, not fancy, just right. Good selection on the buffet and the owners who run the restaurant daily couldn't be any more friendly. Love Bombay Flames!

I got take out from here a few weeks ago because this is the most highly yelp rated indian restaurant in roswell. I found it to be bland. The chicken was dry and the sauces reminded me of the kind you get from a jar at the grocery store. I can see why the white people like it but I've got better options.

After careful consideration as to whether to go to the nearest Indian restaurant or try something new, we decided to get some take out from Bombay Flames. After initially being scared pulling up to a parking lot that was under construction, I picked up our order and longingly drove home to the smell of our food. The meal did not disappoint! The flavors were amazing and the pieces of meat were obviously good cuts. Highly recommend the aloo gobi masala, tandoori mixed grill (my British husband said it was the best he's had in many years) and the chicken Tikka masala and butter chicken. The rice was colorful and flavorful and the naan bread was soft and perfectly cooked. One word of caution, medium is spicy! We like it pretty spicy but it seemed a little hotter than medium. That didn't affect the taste and actually cleared out my sinuses! Overall extremely good food, prices were what you would expect of the quality of food. Definitely will go again!

After reading multiple reviews of this place, I was slightly hesitant to come but decided to give it a shot anyways and am very happy that I did. The place is in a weird location, so it didn't have much of a dinner crowd but the food was great! I ordered the butter chicken with naan and my friend ordered the chicken tikka masala with butter naan as well. Both of us were very satisfied with our meals and there was PLENTY leftover for a meal the next day as well! In addition, our server was the kindest man! He was very attentive and was incredibly warm and welcoming. I will definitely be returning here.

This used to be Bombay Xpress but is now Bombay Flames. It is now one of my favorite lunch places. I discovered it while searching for Indian restaurants in Alpharetta and this had the best reviews. Give it a try and you'll see why. The food is tasty, memorable and easy on the stomach, even though I ate 2 full plates from the buffet which is well worth the $9 for quality dishes. The selection is diverse and changes daily. The restaurant is clean and service friendly. Can accommodate large groups. Food that makes you go yummmmmm!!!

I went for the dinner, so this review is not gonna be for their lunch buffet. I have tried different indian restaurant in Atlanta as well as internaltionally, and I would recommend this place. High quality food, delicous. Portions were OK. Service was good too.

Horrible Experience! We went for a lunch buffet and I have never seen such bad management. They ran out of plates and food at 12.45 pm. They had pani-puri but no potatoes or chickpeas for filling, no paneer in matar paneer, naan was hard and dry. People were in line but they had no plates. In the end they put out small disposable plates. The chicken was RAW. Horrible customer service. We will never go there again.

It's a well priced restaurant. Staff is friendly. Their food is well done. The family is genuinely glad to serve you food. You don't get many places like this in Atlanta. I'd have to say their food is arguably top 5 in Atlanta. This place serves great food at an incredible value. It reminds me a lot of little bangkok on Cheshire bridge.

This place is so good. I have since eaten from the buffet several times. Some of the items are spicy but that is what I love. Although it does not have a huge variety of buffet items everything is an instant favorite!!! Highly recommended. Friendly staff and some rocking Indian music. They also have a spicy fried shrimp dinner that is SO GOOD!

  • Siri Y.

As an Indian and someone who frequents Indian restaurants I was disappointed with the taste and selection of the lunch buffet. The food is too greasy and imbalanced with the masala. The paneer was tough and the pakoras under cooked. You'd be better off with the other Alpharetta Indian restaurants

  • Christian D.

Highly recommended, excellent food and attentive service! My wife and I had dinner there Saturday night. We enjoyed the nan (of course) vegetable samosas, butter chicken and chicken tikka, which came out piping hot and was expertly prepared, the chicken was tender and delicious, the vegetables still crisp. Nice atmosphere and very reasonable prices. You would be hard pressed to find a better Indian restaurant north of the perimeter.

Great indian food! As good or better than any I ate when I lived in London! I had the chicken tikka masala medium spicy and garlic naan for takeout tonight. Love this place! Plus they're open till 10 on weeknights which is rare in alpharetta/roswell! EDIT: have ordered three times from them and everything has been fantastic! We have also been back to the buffet and were very impressed. CHicken tikka masala was just as good as ordered separately. It was better than any Indian buffet I have been to!

Man - from the complimentary paper thin bread and the 2 incredible sauces (Indian chips and salsa) - this was a great start already - so much flavor. I got the lentil soup - really spicy - what a nice surprise - all flavor and perfect heat. Also got a veggie dish. Which was right on. Will be visiting often!

    (5)
  • Craig Y.

Mediocre. Good vegetarian options but the chicken tikka masala was over cooked, the pieces were too big, and the sauce wasn't very flavorful. The selection was minimal and less varied than other places I've been to. Very nice staff and they refilled the bar often. Hard to beat the price also. $6.99 for adult lunch buffet. Not the best but definitely not the worst.

Cheap for one thing. The lunch buffet is 6.99, which seems way less expensive than other Indian lunch buffets I've been to recently. I liked everything I had, good level of spicy, decent variety, and yet not so much that I overdid it as I often do at Indian lunch buffets. And it included goat curry, which you don't see at most of them. Noted that there were a lot of Indian people here for lunch, so that's always a good sign.

  • Sash D.

Good food and service. Was pleased to see that they were very willing to refill buffet even when we went near closing time. I know of some restaurants that are not too happy about that. Not here. They gladly refilled all the short dishes. Food was well cooked although a bit oily (but that's par for the course for Indian restaurant food). And price was really reasonable !!! $8 bucks for buffet is darn good. Will visit again when the palate craves for some food from the homeland....

Overall fine experience at Bombay Flames. On the positive side, the malai kofta was good. The palak paneer and dal makhani weren't bad, but didn't really taste as I expect them to taste. The naan was fine - not great. The service was fine, although it was a bit slow.

Decent Indian food. Haven't tried their buffet yet. Tried a few of their dishes on our first visit here and was happy with the meal. We started with the Chat Papri and complimentary papad with tamarind / mint sauce. For the main course, we got tandoori shrimp, butter chicken, dal makhni, and fish masala. Wasn't a big fan of the fish masala, fish was kinda off, but the other dishes were pretty good and came with the right amount of heat we asked for. The butter chicken was mild enough for my kids to enjoy since that's the only Indian dish they will eat chased by a cool glass of mango lassi. Overall it was pretty tasty and enjoyed the food here. The only thing missing is the thali dinner. Wish they had it on their menu.

Passes the spicy test (i blew my nose halfway thru the meal). Passes the flavorful test (I had 3 plates). Price was cheap, only $8.55 incl tax for the Sat buffet. But only 13 entrees? Top of my list is Taste of India in Windward where you get 20+ entrees and its much nicer for $10 plus tax. One big plus at Bombay...no Bollywood TV blaring, just background music.

I visited with my son on a week night for dinner. Very tasty and prices are reasonable considering abundant dinner portions. Very clean inviting atmosphere. Attentive and polite service. Meals slightly heavy with salt so I recommend that future diners request reduction of salt. Overall very good experience -JL

Great place to eat authentic Indian food. Well balanced spices with a zing, good selection menu, a touch of exclusivity, it must be the creation of a Master Chef. Wonderful ambiance with a touch of home simplicity and immaculate service at a very reasonable pricing. Chef Sandeep Sing has a few signature dishes with his stamp of authority. Chaat Papri, Chilli Fried Shrimp, Crispy Vegetable Corn Triangles, Uttapam, Dosa to name a few. His experience ranges from Taj Group of Hotels, Cruise lines to 11 years of service in the Atlanta area. He now brings us his signature restaurant Bombay Xpress (New name is Bombay Flames) in Alpharetta Georgia near North Point Mall.

I like this spot. They have a decent lunch buffet. Chicken tikka masala is rich with coconut milk. Goat curry is good. I like a little variety in my Indian restaurants. I've only come here for lunch. They recently lowered the price for the lunch buffet. I'll have to double-check but I think it is now around $7.

It was amazing. We had chicken Tikka Masala, lamb curry, and dal. Also had the C.V.C.T. appetizer. The spices were perfect, and the heat (3/5) was a good compromise for everyone at the table. Don't miss this place.

Very happy with my first dinner here. I had Tandoori Mixed Griller with basmati rice. The flavors of the different meats was perfect and I left full and satisfied. People need to venture out more and try the small locally owned restaurants. We'll definitely be back.

The atmosphere was delightful (beautiful, authentic Indian music, lovely paintings and low lighting). The staff were some of the kindest people, very willing to explain dishes to a newbie. The food was amazing - gourmet quality on a nice buffet line. Excellent price for top notch food. We'll definitely be returning soon!

I was at Bombay Flames on Saturday evening with my boyfriend. I had a goat dish and he had afghan chicken. We also had garlic naan, rice pudding and fruit custard. The food was delicious and the service was great. Our server was really polite. Great atmosphere for a date.

I have been here when it was under a different name, first visit under the current name The décor looked pretty much the same as it did under the previous name. The food was excellent - we tried the onion naan bread based on a Yelp review and we were not disappointed - another recommendation here! The chicken tikka was great - it was served fajita-style and was cooked perfectly with a nice mixture of vegetables. Bombay Flames is a little hard to find - it's behind Northpoint on Mansell Rd, just next to a Ramada Inn. But definitely worth the 1/2 mile drive from Northpoint.

One of my two favorite Indian restaurants. I am a vegetarian, and always find something good in their lunch buffet, my favorite being navratam korma, which is what I order when I order from the menu. I like the atmosphere here, and the owners are friendly and helpful. Since I changed jobs, I miss eating here

Malai kofta was a wow...Ordered a to-go but they took a lot of time to prepare it. Loved their buffet too. Options were less but everything was good. Changing the review from 4 to 2.. Ordered 2-3 times more. Chapatis were like thick and dry and could hardly eat them. Had worst paneer kadai of my life. I think I just like their malai kofta and gulab jamun.
