I think that my expectations of this place were way too high. With that being said this place was a disappointment. I came in here on a Saturday evening for dinner because this was one of the very few places without a wait. We were seated immediately and looked over the menu. Everything seemed good and I didn't know what to get. However, being pesceterian, my options were somewhat limited so I settled for the salmon- being a big salmon fan ever since I first tried it. The salmon I ordered was such a small potion I was actually shocked. It costs about $20 and the salmon was 1/3 the size of my small hands. Very dissapointing. On top of that, the sides were nothing special and the jalapeño corn bread was very dense and dry. I think it's because it was gluten free. Not sure if I would return..

Really wanted to try this place at 1130am on a Saturday. We went in and it wasn't very busy. Probably 1/3 full. As we came in the door so did 3 other families. There were about 12 of us waiting in line to be seated. There was no hostess and none of the waiters even looked our way. After about 10 minutes we all left. Your restaurant just let a lot of money walk out the door. Not sure I care to go back.

This one is way worse than the location at Lenox. Apparently no coffee bar menu like Lenox, out of sausage during Sunday brunch, the waitstaff seemed ambivalent, and the kitchen staff seemed passive aggressive or maybe just hate their jobs. A la carte items were served on plates so small the food barely fit, the burrito bowl was cold and just looked thrown together (I think the cafeteria ladies at my son's elementary school put more care into assembling the lunches than was put into my meal). Also, the a la carte menu is over priced - like 2 strips of bacon for $4. Yikes! If I ever wanted any of the Bantam + Biddy menu items again I would drive the extra 30 minutes down to Lenox rather than come back to this location.

My wife and I rather enjoyeed this place. The server was busy and working the bar, so the service was a bit slow but certainly acceptable, as he was VERY nice. The food was very very good if you are a fan of Southern style cuisine. While not Southern, the Poutine is not to be missed. Fried green tomatoes were some of the best I have ever had. We were already planning a second visit before dinner was done. Pricing was fair, especially considering every trendy new restaurant thinks that $20+ a plate is acceptable. We have visited the new Avalon several times now, and it is a great place to spend an evening. This restaurant is one of the highlights, so don't miss out.

Everything I've ever had here has been delish. Service is excellent as well. I don't like that you have to a la cart things on the breakfast menu, however. For example my waffle came with nothing. I had to order my scrambled egg as a side. Same with the chicken biscuit my husband ordered. Just a biscuit and chicken. That really drives up your bill. While I will return, this is it for my date. ;)

We went here on a date night last week, and it has made our to-return list. Let me start, however, by saying that if you care about grammar at all you should avoid the waiter who only ever addresses the table in the first person plural. Perhaps it's required, and if so I am less likely to go back. Unless you intend to help pay for my meal, you should never ask me "What are we having tonight?" That is why the second person pronoun exists, so that a distinction of exclusion can be made. If you're going to pay, though, by all means pull up a chair and I'll let you. Okay, with that out of the way (my wife didn't seem to mind, so I saved my rant for here instead of in the restaurant), the food was pretty good. My wife had the half rotisserie chicken with mac and cheese and the garlic spinach. The chicken and spinach were both awesome, although I had to pull the skin off of the thigh for it not to be too salty to eat. The cornbread was dry. Perhaps a pat of butter could have helped this, I'm not sure. The mac and cheese was just generic mac and cheese, so not worth ordering again. I ordered the chicken and waffle with grits as an extra side. The waffle, syrup, and chicken were all great, so this is definitely a re-orderable dish. The apple sauce that came with the dish was not very good, but it's such a small part of the order that I don't even mind. The grits were really good, and I only wish I had had a sausage patty to help sop up the last few remaining in the bowl. Overall, definitely worth a shot. From what we read about them, they also try to use farm to table when possible, which is a respectable thing to do. The price was fair to the quality of the food and experience, too, which is always a good thing.

We've been wanting to try Bantam + Biddy since they opened in the Avalon complex. We went several times but found lines of people waiting down the sidewalk to get in. We figured this was either a sign of an outstanding eating establishment that everyone wanted in on or very poor service once you got in. We were in the neighborhood mid afternoon Sunday and decided to check it out. We got right in as it was really the tail end of the brunch session. Some observations: VERY noisy, Outstanding food, VERY poor service. The chicken stew with biscuit was unbelievably good...comfort food without guilt! The prices were reasonable. Wait staff seemed to work hard at ignoring their customers....so sad!

  • Rene M.

Food was decent, the staff as a whole needs to adjust to high volume to really pull off being a breakfast/brunch place! With proper staff and management, they could probably do double in sales! (I work at a higher end breakfast place in the airport so I know what should be done to execute a high volume brunch without being in the weeds the entire time lol). With that being said, they have good deals and a great menu!

Went here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. It's in a great location in the Avalon and there was no wait for a table for 5. I had the blackened chicken burger with creole mayo and duck fat fries. It was delicious. The staff was attentive and the whole experience made me want to return.

Great southern food in a casual setting. The Bloody Mary's are on point and we had great service with our waiter Blair! Had a delicious fried chicken sandwich -- def recommend adding pimento cheese. Black bean soup was really yummy too.

What a shame. I was holding off on writing this review, however it isn't worthwhile to wait any longer. Giving them one star is generous. We ate there opening weekend a few weeks ago and the only two positive experiences were getting seated immediately and having Chimay Red on draught. Waiting for the server to greet us was at least 10 minutes. An additional 15 minutes later he took our order. Here is the best part: over an hour later we finally received our food! Many other customers didn't wait for the food, they simply left. The food was okay, yet I'm sure the taste was marred by the inconvenience of waiting for it. Our water was not refilled despite asking several times whenever we could catch our waiter. He kept forgetting. We got our check and he didn't even come by to pick it up when I put my card in it. I had to get a different server to take it. This restaurant, while doing some different and interesting things with chicken dishes, has clearly demonstrated that it cannot conduct quality customer service with its food operations. Unless they do a complete overhaul of their staff and advertise their improvement, I see no reason to return. There are plenty of dining options available at Avalon with quality customer service. I recommend you try one of them.

Stopped in by myself for lunch about a month ago. I ordered the Poutine, which you rarely see on any menu down south. It was huge, so I didn't need anything else after that. Now I'm American so I can't speak to the authenticity of the Poutine, having never had it before that I can remember. I make my own ricotta cheese, but these curds are completely different, so I am really not sure what they're supposed to taste like. The curds had a bit of a pungent funk to them, but in all honesty, that might be normal, what do I know? The gravy was good and of course you can't go wrong with duck fat fries. Hellooooo ducks! The portion on that dish is definitely a good size for two or three people to share as an appetizer. Regarding service, I was seated immediately, so that was good. After sitting, I noticed the greet time was long. It wasn't a busy lunch shift but I sat there probably 3 minutes before being acknowledged. That doesn't sound long but it really is for an initial greeting. My server was a very pretty young lady and her service was absolutely fine. Nothing wrong with it at all. However she kept calling me "My love" and "love" -- and I didn't exactly "love" that. Maybe I'm a cranky old broad, but I'm at a point in my life where I don't want to be called "you guys," "love" or "darling" by anyone in the hospitality industry. HOWEVER, I will make two exceptions. The first being Hessel, the adorable 80+ year old South African man who works the front counter at Atlanta Bread Company at Perimeter. OMG he's wonderful and he can call me "darling" all day long. He's the best. The second exception is any grandmotherly woman over the age of 65 who works at a country restaurant of any kind is welcome to call me sugar, baby, or even sugar-baby-fussy-britches. That's A-OK with me! But I digress... I had high hopes for Bantam & Biddy partly because I love the southern kitsch of the name and I do love southern / country / comfort food cooking. I was looking forward to some creative southern takes on plain old chicken. The menu itself is good -- interesting items (deviled eggs, chicken livers, pimento cheese, grits, and some others). I think I just wanted to be *wowed* and I wasn't. Nothing wrong with the place, just not a place I'd rave about.

We went there with my kids and friends of mine. I must say both their service was poor and unprofessional and foods were disappointing. The service was slow (we had to hunt down waiter when we needed something). The food was either very blant (duck fat fries had no taste) or spicy (meatloaf had spicy sauce) even though the menu didn't state so. A froliend of mine ordered chicken wings (don't remember the exact name) for her and her son assuming they won't be spicy. Poor my friend's boy. His mouth was on fire! When she mentioned that to the waitrer, he said the wings should have not been spicy. He got the boy chicken fingers but he kept drinking water... I am not sure if I will go back to this overpriced place with poor service and foods....

Pros: Poutine. Holy crap delicious. I really wish I would have ordered this for myself for dinner. It was salty, and cheesy, and the gravy was tasty and just yuuummm. Chicken tenders... yum! Lightly breaded and crispy. The Wasabi honey was odd... plain honey would have been better. Where did the idea for Wasabi come from? Mashed potatoes were pretty alright. Our server was super nice and accomodating. He genuinely cared that we were unhappy. Cons: Loud music. Surprisingly long wait for a slow Sunday night. Mac'n'cheese...bummer. it was okay, like, five out of ten. Very bland and greasy. Butternut squash soup...Meh. It was really rich, sweet, and the flavor was odd. Meatloaf...yuck. Dry, seasoned funny, and topped with marinara sauce? Ratatouille... meh. Same marinara sauce from the meatloaf. Quinoa and spinach salad was literally a scoop of quinoa on raw spinach leaves. It had a weird ginger sauce... I don't get where the Asian fusion was coming from, but it didn't work for me. Fried chicken...meh. it was cold. We haven't had the best of luck trying new restaurants lately. When our server saw the majority of food still on our plates, he asked us about it. He went to get a manager who apologized for our bad experience and brought us different food to take home and try. Both the manager and our server seemed really upset that we weren't 100% satisfied, and for this, I'd definitely come back and try it again.

Whoever is giving this place 1 star reviews certainly didn't try the chicken and waffles. It was fantastic - especially the waffle. Also tried the side special - fried green tomatoes which were delicious with a topping that I can't place - pimento cheese? The atmosphere is nothing special but nice and cozy. Food was fresh, upscale, comfort food. What is not to love about that? Even the cocktail I got, the Midnight Bramble, was fresh with muddled berries. Our server, Ali, was very friendly and attentive, too. Check this place out.

Horrible customer service just to get in door. Didn't stick around for the food because they wouldn't seat us even though there was three booths available. However waitress had taken two customers and sat them because she couldn't get host to cooperate with her. Won't last long unless they get their act together.

The only thing better than the service and atmosphere is the food! Jerelle was our server & he was incredible. This place is equally unique & delicious. Go out of your way to eat here!

OK..so we have given this place 2 chances hoping for better. Go to Roasters up the street! They have a real problem with their service, which is disorganized and chaotic. I have to start at the end...we got the Shamu treatment when a waiter accidentally dropped a water glass near our table. It happens right??? Bus boy gave us a towel and we cleaned ourselves and our own table up. Water splashed all over our food (thank goodness we were almost done). Our waiter apologized and said he took "one round" of drinks off the bill. Considering we could not take our leftovers home I asked to talk to a manager. She came over 10 minutes later and took our check and said she would take care of it...it came back with one round of drinks taken off. Classic moment to ask a customer for another chance...fail. We saw a number of people send food back. We tried the boiled peanuts which were inconsistent...some hard some mushy. Sweet potato fries were just bad. We sent those back. Duck fries were greasy and clumped together. Roasted chicken was good...I don't recommend the Shamu treatment. Wish I could have taken it home with me. Chicken and waffles were good, but not special.

We received excellent service from Farouk. Ask for him by name if you go. We went with a group And were seated right away even when all the other restaurants in Avalon had 1 1/2 to 2 hour waits. The food was good and seemed to be a good value for the price point. They do offer some good beers and they have a decent enough wine selection as well. I'd definitely go again:)

Shannon made the visit as our server ...my wife's eggs, sausage and home fries were all over cooked but Shannon corrected the eggs. My omelet was overdone too! It's like they are heavy handed on the grill. Could be great if they can fix the overlooking issue.

A solid three stars. Service was good and attentive during the early meal and fell off a bit later. The restaurant was pretty crowded for a Sunday afternoon. Both I and my dining partner thought the menu was a little ambitious and underwhelming on the execution side but the food arrived in good condition and was certainly decent if not notable. The fried green tomatoes were good but overbreaded. Most food was a little on the salty side. The sauces were standouts, we had both piri piri and the garlic and parsley sauce. Both amazing. I tried the poutine. Served in a bowl, the portion size was too big and the proportions of cheese curds, gravy, and fries a bit off. But each element was decent on its own. Spinach salad was my meal. Quite good, dressing was fantastic. The bowl was too small and so it was hard to get the dressing distributed throughout the salad. My partner had the salmon with ratatouille and spinach. The former two were excellent, the latter too salty. Overall, Bantam Biddy is a promising showing in the overall disappointment of Avalon. They've made strides towards improvement. If it continues, this could be one of the best restaurants in northern Fulton.

The food is excellent, although inconsistent with prices and amount of food you receive. I've been here twice for breakfast, both on Saturdays between 9:30-10:30 and it has been nearly empty both times. The pancakes are a stack of 4-5 silver dollar pancakes, and while delicious, simply not enough food for an adult if that's your only meal. The chicken and waffles, however, are a huge waffle and 3 chicken fingers so definitely worth the price. The french toast comes as 3 small baguette pieces, but very delicious. The $2 biscuit, however, is the standout. Large, soft and dense with cheddar inside. Yum! The food came out quickly and warm. The orange juice is fresh squeezed (you can see it happening at the bar!) but a whopping $6 for a small stemless wineglass full. Not worth it. The customer service is okay. Nice enough staff but seemed to be missing for much of the meal which doesn't necessarily bother me, but would have been nice when we needed extra butter or a napkin. The food here is extremely tasty and high quality, however the prices are high and the portions are small, even for the area. The decor is very vintage cute and it's a great spot to grab brunch with friends.

We Iove this place. My son has celiac so being able to come in and order with no issue is such a relief. He loves the chicken fingers. The pickled beets and fried green tomatoes are great as well. Only downside is the service can be very inconsistent. If you get the right waiter your time will be great. However that can be the opposite if you aren't that lucky. One guy even called my husband a smart ass! Thinking he was being funny. We keep coming back even with the inconsistent service.

So, after four months I finally made it back here. I'm giving them a generous 3 stars because service was quick this time. The chicken tenders were not bad but a bit dense on the batter for my taste. I peeled most of it off. The wasabi sweet dip was a little weird but tolerable. Sweet potato fries were hand cut and perfectly done. Cubed pickled beets with a dollop of goat cheese side dish was pretty good too. The four lunch servers were pretty busy and not very friendly, just buzzing around doing their jobs. I may come back and try the rotisserie chicken or maybe breakfast. Side note, no hot water turned on in the bathroom. Had to wash my hands with icy cold water. Sometimes it's the little things.

I was a bit disappointed when I went by to get a to go salad. It was fresh but for more than $16 for a salad and can of diet coke and I got 8 small pieces of cubed chicken and half of the box of salad. It was the size of a side salad. Not sure but it felt like a case of "let's make the to go less and save money". Next time I'll go to Whole Foods salad bar. (also took 20 minutes). I'm not giving up but no more take out.

My 1st visit was very pleasant. We sat outside and ordered appetizers & drinks. The $4 mimosas were delish. Loved the deviled eggs. We also ordered fried green tomatoes with goat cheese....surprisingly tasty as well. Our server was friendly. He recommended the fried green tomatoes. I decided I would come back and try brunch and/or an entree in the near future.

Passed by one night and thought "hmmm... this place looks good. I wanna try it for brunch." So my girlfriend and I decide to try it out and it was one of the worst experiences we have ever had with dining. First of all, they had 45 minute backup on the kitchen. That was clue number one to not eat there. But we stuck it out anyways in hopes that it would be worth the wait. Well, it wasn't. We got the food an hour after we ordered and lost our appetites with one look at it. The presentation was horrible and the cup of fruit looked like the ones you get at chickfila. We will never try this place ever again. If I could give it negative 5 stars I would. Save yourself the trouble and never come here.

Great food, attentive service (Thx, Shannon!), and friendly staff! Between our meals, I recommend the duck fat fries and chicken & waffles because the side of applesauce is a great complement! This place caters to gluten free and vegetarian options, too. I'll be back!

Well the reviews don't lie but I had to see for myself! The service was terrible!!!! Took them 10 minutes just to come see if I wanted a drink. It's not that they are under staffed its that the staff they have just stand around looking bored instead of checking on their tables. The one positive thing I have to say is that the manager (I believe it was the manager) was pretty nice! I ordered the "famous" chicken & waffles. The chicken was pretty good and hot but the waffle was freezing cold and tasted horrible!!! I have been to the midtown location and it was a lot better. Should have kept the good thing they had going and not opened another location. Will not ever be coming back to waste my money here! Still hungry!

  • Belinda J.

My first visit was just ok. The service seemed really slow in that Saturday afternoon meeting friends for lunch. I chose this location based on the fact that there are menu items that won't ruin my diet. I had the all white rotisserie chicken, skinless. For sides I had the sautéed spinach & fruit. I could not eat the spinach as it was overly salty; I was literally crunching in salt & pepper w/ my 1st bite. The chicken, however, was delish! Seasoned perfectly through out & really moist! One friend had a spicy chicken omelette which she commented was just ok; another friend had the chicken club that she really enjoyed. I would come back again to try other choices on their menu...

I've never written a Yelp review before today. I was so bothered by the experience and the lack of response from the restaurant that I wanted other people to be aware so I've created an account. My husband and I tried to go to Bantam + Biddy on Jan 18th for brunch / lunch. After our experience I contacted the restaurant via the email on their website and haven't heard back. I've let other businesses know of good and bad experiences and have always gotten a response. Below is the email I sent to B+B after our experience. We walked out of the restaurant and went to El Felix where we had a wonderful lunch! Note emailed on Jan 19th: I'm dropping you a note as my husband and I were quite excited to try the Bantam and Biddy at Avalon. We headed there yesterday for lunch around 12:10pm. We were promptly seated by the hostess and the experience went downhill from there. Not one server stopped by, not one person asked if we wanted a drink, no one brought us silverware or water. After 15 minutes of being ignored we got up and left. I would have spoken to a manager on the way out but no one was up front at that point and we were quite hungry. Other tables were waiting around as well, I even saw it take one table 10 mints get their check after asking for it. This was really disappointing and I thought you would like to know. While the restaurant was busy it wasn't overwhelmingly so. I hope that the service improves. Maybe we will try another time as we had heard such good things about the food.

    (1)
  • Matt B.

Diner-like atmosphere and some interesting menu choices. Unlike some of the other reviews here, we were served promptly and our waiter checked on us several times so no complaints about the service. The food isn't anything remarkable, but it isn't bad. If you're shopping at Avalon and you brought the kids, this is a pretty good choice. Many of the restaurants aren't as kid friendly and tend to be more crowded.

The place is chicken. Local organic chicken. The chicken is fresh not greasy and well seasoned. Not too much salt so the food taste clean. More of a grab fresh food and go but still able to have a beer or glass of wine. A few tvs on the wall but more about visiting with a friend or a quick bite before a movie oppose to the avalon bar scene. The red pepper sauce for the roasted chicken is flavorful and not too hot. The chicken stew is pot pie without the extra thick gravy. Cornbread jalapeño muffin made well. Overall good clean food. I would go back

Alas, we gave this place a second chance. First time was Sunday brunch, took over half hour to get food, allegedly because they had run out of biscuits! Went again last Sunday for brunch. First we were seated at a table that was so wobbly it literally would spin and wobble at the same time. It took 15 minutes for the server to drop by and take our order; then the food took another 30 minutes, allegedly because there was a big order ahead of us. Then when the three "over medium" eggs arrived, they were like fake plastic eggs, rubbery, no moisture at all. They did replace the eggs, with 2, not 3. I peeked into the kitchen, there were a dozen people all running around, why cant they get it on time and correct? If you've been to Goldberg's, you know how quickly they serve up breakfast, and how few people there are in their kitchen. Must be training! Anyway, we've had it there. Elsewhere forever.

This is worth reading. I was genuinely excited to try out this place this Sunday. My boyfriend and I woke up early just to make the trip out to the Avalon. When we arrived the hostess rudely and unapologetically told us that the kitchen was backed up by 45 minutes and that she couldn't even seat us for 20 minutes even though there were clearly seats open. Once we were seated we decided to let the past go and be open minded about this place. But we were disappointed again. The food took 40 minutes to come out and once it did it looked like something you could have gotten at a Waffle House. Plus, the side of fruit I ordered was literally 6 SMALL pieces of unfresh looking fruit. We waited for so long and endured horrible service just to receive unappetizing food. So we left and will not be returning.

We had lunch today, and sad to say, we will not be back. We were seated, but waited quite a while for our server. He finally came and took our drink orders? We waited again, until our drinks finally arrived. He then took our orders, and the food did arrive in a timely manner. However, two out of the three orders had to be sent back, and they were missing items promised on the menu. Our server told us the cook was new, and that was the reason. The food was good. We never saw our waiter again for the rest of the meal- water was not refilled, no check on how everything was or if we needed anything. When he finally arrived with our check, my daughter asked for more lemonade. the server took the check and my credit card, and when he returned with her drink, he had also run my card with an additional $3.50 added on for another lemonade. If he had informed me that we would be charged again I would not have approved it. $7.00 for two lemonades was ridiculous. Poor service at a time when the restaurant was almost empty, and we could see the staff standing around talking. Very disappointing.

Not worth it. I have been there twice because I always give a place a second chance and both times I was disappointed. The first time the service was atrocious, but the second time it was much improved. The food is OK. Very salty for all 4 meals. Pork schnitzel was awful. Zero presentation, zero color and who the heck puts peanuts on schnitzel? No lemon squeeze for miles around. The side of onion salad was just greasy onions. One positive was the sweet potato fries. They were quite good. Two strikes and done.

Cute place with an ideal location - in the Avalon. Easy parking, no wait (President's Day around 11:30 a.m.), but kind of slow service. Ordered the chicken and cheddar waffles which was delicious. Brought half of it home and it was still good the next day, totally recommend!

So glad to find a place like this in Alpharetta. Great place to meet friends and catch up with brunch and mimosas. Healthy food options...and comfort food as well. I opted for healthy- with yummy omelette-egg whites and healthy non gluten choices. Brad was especially attentive waiter- made us feel right at home! Will definitely be back!

OMG, SO good. I had the cheddar waffle with fried chicken. It came with vanilla bean applesauce, apple butter, and syrup (not too sweet). It was SO good. I am more of a crispy waffle person, but the waffle was still great not crispy. It wasn't too sweet or too salty, just right! I highly recommend it. Their sweet tea wasn't really up to par for me, but I have pretty high standards for sweet tea, so no biggie i guess. Other than that, everything was perfect!

Takes the meat and 3 concept several steps higher. Very tasty food, very cool waitstaff, neat space. Recommend the grits, meatloaf, and royale with cheese, add fried egg! Seriously grits are as good as flying biscuit!

Good food, tasty chicken, lots of options, clean environment, polite service, what's not to like? This restaurant is a new regular for us.

I went to Bantam + Biddy for the first time at the Alpharetta location to get take out. I waited in the front for a while because I didn't know where to place my order. The servers all saw me but no one said anything, after a few minutes one of them came up and asked if I was being helped and directed me to place my order at the bar in the rear of the restaurant. The menu seems to have a lot of healthy choices but I went basic - Chicken with 2 sides and cornbread. I had to send it back because the person taking my order didn't hear me say white meat for my chicken, he even asked me if I ordered it initially which I did. I got the bourbon BBQ sauce to go with the chicken. I didn't see the sauce choices on the menu and waiter only mentioned 2 different types (BBQ and Honey Wasabi) so I assume they just have the two. I think the chicken was pretty good for white meat - it was very tasty and moist. White meat tends to be dry at most places. I even liked the skin (which I normally don't eat) but because it was slightly crispy and salty, I ate it. The collard greens were okay, a little bland for my taste not spicy at all. The mashed potatoes were okay too, they were seasoned, maybe it was the cheese. They forgot to give me my cornbread, which is too bad because I wanted to try it. Overall it was a decent meal, definitely pricey for chicken, it wont be too often I go here just occasionally for a craving.

Food here is decent, overpriced for the quality though. Service here is horrendous. I've served in the restaurant industry for years and forgive A LOT. Servers cutting me off on the way to the restroom, slow service, server not caring that we weren't thrilled with the food at the table, auctioning off my food at the table rather than knowing where it goes, seating us outside without asking if we had a preference etc. There's a sense of just "not caring" here. All this coupled with the fact that they charged $6 for a to-go sized cup of OJ and menu stated adding an egg was $1 and charging me $2 in my check just left me never wanting to return, and we won't.

This place has about 2 things going for it...location and interior design. I have been DYING to try this place out. It has been around for awhile, but clearly I am slow and just getting around to trying it out. Needed to run an errand at The Avalon today at lunch, so decided to run in and get it to go. I mean GF chicken fingers---YES! Actually it is more like a no. I ordered the chicken finger snack with ranch, a side of duck fries, and a diet coke. I ordered it to go and ate it in my car. Yes I am one of those people that does not like to eat alone in a resturant. Anyway, the chicken was tough and almost hard. I think I ate 1 chicken finger in total. The fries were stone cold and tough as bricks. AND they tasted like straight oil. So gross. Now, I am about far from cheap when it comes to well anything, but paying $2.50 for a CANNED diet coke is about ridicious. I spent and wasted $17.00 on lunch. Such a total fail when I was really looking forward to experiencing this resturant. I am more than disappointed and do not think I will EVER eat here again.

I was looking for something to eat Saturday morning that would cure a heavy night of partying. I was using the trusty Yelp app and came across this place. The pictures looked real solid. In fact, so solid, I even convinced my highly closed-minded friend to come with me (mind you getting him to leave his zip code is a challenge, let alone going to Avalon!). I told him if we left early enough, we would be ok- and we were. I noticed that this place opens at 8AM- honestly, I would say, you are better off coming here earlier than later. We arrived at 10AM, and it was a perfect- not too crowded at all. Hell, I was even able to get a front row parking spot! Upon walking in, I felt like I was in West Midtown Atlanta. The vibe of white tile and light woods- almost like Jeni's or something out of Krog Street Market. We were greeted, and seated immediately. We got menus, and our drink orders filled. I noticed they had a TV with ESPN playing, and a bar in the back (but I noticed with the hours, you don't come here for late night drinking). We sat in a booth, right up front (they have a nice mix of booths and tables). My fat ass, barely fit (time to lose some weight). They menu was solid- having a tough time deciding. Let's be honest though, was I really going to deviate from a bacon cheddar waffle, topped with chicken tenders and bourbon pecan maple syrup? Hell no! So, that's what I stuck with. along with a side of home fries. I also just kept drinking water. My buddy ordered a coke (heads up, cans only), along with biscuits and gravy, add tenders. The food came out fairly quickly, which was good. The plates were mouth watering as they arrived. I couldn't wait to eat! Thankfully, the food was just as good as it looked. I mixed everything on my plate like a Picasso painting and went to town. It actually took me a while to eat, and I tell you what- it was filling! It was a solid plate- some of the better chicken and waffles I have had. I thought about it though, I should have gotten a wee more bit of syrup though. The waffle was cooked perfectly, and so was the chicken. My buddy even told me they were te best chicken tenders he has had- cooked and battered well. Needless to say, it was clean tasting. The home fries where alright, but honestly, I didn't need them after the big plate of chicken and waffles. The fries were forgettable, but tolerable. I am glad I ran into this place, and so was my buddy. I will definitely have to return upon ever coming back home to visit. Oh yea, everyone I dealt with, seemed to be friendly- I had no issues with Shane (the server) and the other people we interacted with!

Bantam + Biddy is becoming a habit now that my office is only 1.5 miles away. I've enjoyed lunching here, though the prices are high. I'd tried B+B in Ansley Mall and was just ok with it. But when looking for a healthy and filling salad, their Power Salad with chicken and carrot ginger vinaigrette has become my go to. Sure it ends up being a $15 salad by the time you add tax, but the ingredients are high quality, fresh, and tasty. I've also enjoyed the veggie plate (pick 4 sides) for which I chose the sweet potato fries, collards, mac and cheese, and watermelon salad. I won't order the mac and cheese again since I wasn't a fan of the sauce. The collards were ok, sweet and spicy. The sweet potato fries and the watermelon salad were both good. Not an every day place, but a nice treat for healthy choices.

Food is good and service was great. The portion sizes are large, but the food is kinda pricey. This restaurant isn't super big inside, but has a decent amount of seating with a small bar and TVs that were on ESPN2. They have brunch and breakfast that they serve until certain hours depending on the day and specials each day. Sundays they have fried chicken. Watch out for soda here though, they give you a can and it is $2.50 for each one. The dinners are served with jalapeño corn bread muffin which is pretty good. I enjoyed the vegetable plate, my brother liked the chicken tenders, my mom got the Cali sandwich and it was huge, my dad really liked the flavor of the rotisserie chicken. They offer a lot of items with better for you ingredients which I like.

2nd and last chance for this place... Will NEVER return. Employees just don't give a tinkers damn about doing their jobs. Wish I could give 0 stars, there was NOTHING good about tonight's visit. Went tonight to give them a 2nd chance and they just proved us right. It's Wednesday evening, there are only 3 other tables seated in the whole restaurant. Stood at the hostess stand for a full 5 min, one server walked by without even acknowledging our existence. Eventually an employee came to seat us and take our drink order. He came right back with the cokes and then we never saw him again. We sat drinking our cokes for 20 min, the dude was just gone. All the staff were in the kitchen (we could see them) laughing and having a grand ol time while we were getting closer and closer to being late for our movie (and starving). We just left $6 for the cokes on the table and walked out, no one noticed. Whoever owns this place needs to take a look at how empty their joint is when all the other food places In Avalon are bursting at the seams.

Service is mediocre at best. Not worth my time and money..... Operating a restaurant at the Avalon means you have to work twice as hard and if your servers are not made for the job, look for some new ones.

I've given this place two tries. 1st time I ordered the vegetable plate and enjoyed my choices. You get four for $12.50, little pricey for small servings. And we were extremely disappointed with service and very weak coffee. 2nd time I ordered Cobb salad. Crazy small bowl and toppings dumped in the middle. Pour service again. Had to ask for water refills.

My husband and I both have to avoid all things scrumptiously full of gluten. This place is perfect for us! We were not only able to enjoy a great meal that fit our diet restrictions but we had numerous options to choose from. Our server was wonderful and we couldn't have asked for more. We had an early dinner that night, 4:15pm, and the service was still great. Most restaurants can't get their act together at that time but these guys were wonderful. We had an awesome experience and will definitely be back!

We went in for lunch on a cold day while doing some holiday shopping. The food was hit or miss and the menu was a bit uninspired, however their Cobb Salad was superb and I love a good Cobb salad so I am likely to come back for that alone. Here's what we had. Chicken Liver app: This is a chicken salad but made with chicken liver instead of chicken breast or thigh. I did not expect this at all and it didn't really taste like liver. For that reason alone I was terribly disappointed. I sort of expected the chicken liver app to taste like chicken liver. That said, if you like chicken salad, which I do, and you like chicken liver, which I do, it is actually quite good. Cheddar Biscuit: This was really quite good. Flavorful with great texture. California Club: The chicken was incredibly dry. This along with the bread kind of ruined this sandwich. I really would recommend trying something else. Cobb Salad: This is a really great Cobb salad, one of the best in the area. 1. The size is reasonable, a common problem with Cobb salads and me is that they are just too large, this one is small enough to be manageable and still filling (I'm not a light eater, just look at my picture, so believe me when I say it's filling it might still be too big for some people). Pickled Beets and Goat Cheese: My husband and I both ordered this as it sounded so good and it lived up to our expectations a hundred times over. The beets are so good you really don't need the goat cheese but I mean, I'm not saying no to goat cheese. Overall, this is a great addition to Avalon and I'm likely to return for the Cobb salad and maybe to try their rotisserie chickens and duck fat fries.

Colorful, cheery, scrumptious, low key, priced well, these are definitely a few adjectives I'll associate with this restaurant. Went for brunch and couldn't resist their only 4 $ mimosas and of course when in south do as the southerners do and so I ordered a plate of chicken + waffles. Scrumptious the least. It's a great place to brunch with friends or family when in that area.

I choose this location as it is closer than the others. The food was good, but the drink I ordered was weak. I ordered the rotisserie chicken, spinach & quinoa salad and duck fat fries. The chicken was flavorful, tender and not dry. The duck fat fries were crispy and not over cooked. The spinach & quinoa salad was good as, I like fresh spinach. I think the salad could have been tossed more prior to it being presented, integrating the quinoa around the spinach instead of most of it being on top. The exterior of the corn muffin was cooked perfectly and was yellow and sweet on the inside. I ordered a Moscow Mule. It was not served in the traditional cooper mug and I have tasted better. It was weak and tasted more like a limeade. Overall the food was good and I do plan to return to try other items from the menu, just not the Moscow Mule from the drinks menu.

/TL;DR Decent place for brunch. Coffee doesn't taste like it's from a gas station. Biscuits are made fresh. Al fresco options. /ATMOSPHERE Big, comfortable booth seats. Avoid sitting on the wooden chairs if you can. They're stiff and completely uncomfortable. Place gets noisy quick so I wouldn't pick this spot if you're looking for somewhere to have a serious conversation. Outdoor seating is available which is always a plus for me. /FOOD Not bad. We split a chicken biscuit w/ pimento and French toast. The biscuits are quite large which makes the plate pretty filling. Best value on the menu. The French toast on the other hand, I think I scarfed up my half in about 3 bites. The coffee was strong and dark which is atypical of restaurant coffee. Enjoyed it. /SERVICE A little slow, but the place started to get busy when we got there so that's to be expected. HOW TO READ MY REVIEWS: 1 Star - Does not approach edible. Enter at your own risk. 2 Stars - If I'm in the area, I'd pick something else. 3 Stars - I would stop by if I happen to be in the area. 4 Stars - I would pick this place out of other places nearby. 5 Stars - I would go out of my way to dine here.

The reviews reflect this place pretty well. It was the only restaurant without a wait on Saturday night and I went for dinner with my family. They have a large selection of sides and the menu seems very gluten free friendly. I got the salmon dish and I was not impressed by the undercooked and flavorless salmon. Spinach was very mediocre as well as their mac and cheese. Their cornbread muffins were dry and bland. The grits were really good, however. On top of the very mediocre food, service was not good. Our server was nice but there were a bunch of other workers who seemed frustrated and yelled a lot, even at us, which wasn't the most pleasant experience. I'm probably not returning because this place is definitely not worth the money.

I've been to bantam + biddy a few times and it's just never wowed me. The food has never been bad, but it's never been great either, it's just an option for an easy meal really. I've had the chicken and waffles, the chicken pita and the spinach salad. I think I've been back three times just because I want to believe in this place based on the popularity. Needless to say, it's not high on my list but it's cute and the service is good. More of a "the place I wanted to go to is too crowded, so let's go to bantam and we won't be let down, just left longing for a bit more."

Went here for lunch today arrived around 1:15, I assumed they were recovering from lunch rush because of the amount of dirty tables. Not many customers were there at this time. Our very expensive canned sodas were delivered but it seemed like forever before server returned to take our order. Then, not long after we ordered she came to ask what we had ordered, that she was trying to find our food????? Our food came and I think we got the lunch rush leftovers, the chicken tenders tasted like they had been sitting under lamps, the grits were lumpy and semi warm quinoa salad was ok, corn muffin was cold. We sat outside, which for the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would want metal tables on a patio where the sun shines and the tables become too hot to touch. This was my first visit and I'm sorry to say it will be my last, I hope that 10% of sales went to Berts Big Adventure like I heard, kudos for the goodwill.

Oh, how I want to bring my blanket and fuzzy socks the next time I visit this place. It's snowing outside, I'm on my FOURTH cup of tea ( I think the wait staff are all wondering why I have been here for so long) and I'm still thinking about the protein builder breakfast they offer. Everything is really just as fresh as they say.. I would've loved the fruit to be a little less predictable. You know...the usual melon and grape combo gets a little old when every breakfast place serves that, but oh well. The service is great. If you were like me and thought that Bantam and Biddy was a coffee shop, it's not. So I wouldn't suggest bringing in all your work to power through. My waiter has given up on coming to check on me since I've been here for the last uhhhh 3 hours! No big deal. It's a breakfast/brunch place and offers great fresh farm food. The dishes won't blow your mind away with creativity but they will cause you to ask for more. I cannot express how FRESH and organic everything tastes! Ask your server for the tea selection. They have quite a great one!

I have always been going to the Ansley Mall location on Piedmont Ave. The food is great and the Avalon location did not disappoint either. I had the meatloaf and my wife had the pork schnitzel. They were both delicious. The one thing truly lacking at this location was the level of customer service. It seemed many of the staff members were not on their A game. I have worked at many restaurants myself and I can tell when a restaurant is not synching well. Perhaps these servers were rushed through training a bit to get the eatery open in time for the grand opening of the Avalon? Who knows.... Again, the food was great. However, it took a little time to get seated, the server did not understand the menu too well, and the food took a bit to get to us but thats ok. I would rather have a well prepared dish that took a little while than one that was rushed and poorly done.

I visited the Bantam and Biddy Avalon location last week and the service Jerelle provided was stellar. The food was good and tasted really clean. The mac and cheese needs a little seasoning but I guess for public appeal it works. My favorite part of the meal was the Rotesserie Chicken with the Piri Piri sauce. Delicious! The wow factor came toward the end when Jerelle suggested the Butternut Squash Pie. I tried it and it was divine. I wish I could have ordered a whole pie and brought it back to New York to share with my family. It was that good. I give this place an overall 10.

Try the chicken and cheddar waffle. The chicken had so much flavor. Awesomeness! Shannon was our server. He made sure we had everything we needed. I'll drive from the southside to visit this location again.

Best restaurant option in the Avalon. Healthy, fresh, organic choices. Love the meatloaf and the rotisserie chicken is delicious. The grits, sautéed spinach and sweet potato fries are our favorite sides. You have to try the chicken and waffles. Best waffle I have ever eaten! Definitely check out this new eatery!

As much as this pains me to say, I'm giving this place two stars. I've been dying for a "go-to" breakfast place that is not Cracker Barrel or Waffle House. That's hard to do in the suburbs. I thought I found the jackpot when I came here. I have been here several times (more than 4) and my experience has almost universally the same: service and food delivery is ridiculously slow (and sometimes inept) and it sours the entire experience. This place has all the bones to a successful breakfast spot: good quality and original menu, well done staples like biscuits, great location, and a well done and unique interior. That's why I've really tried to make this place work. I assumed that because it was fairly new, they were working out the kinks. So I kept coming back. But today's experience was the icing on the cake (or gravy on the biscuit in this case). My wife and I were one of only 3 other tables in the entire location. One table was already eating, so could you imagine that it took over 10 minutes to get drinks and almost 45 minutes to get our food? The young waitress apologized for taking so long. By all accounts she seemed like a hard worker. I asked if someone failed to show up today. She said, "no, I'm the only one here. That's how you open." This tells me that the slow food delivery and bad service aren't just because of bad or untrained servers (which is still part of the case), it's management that is to blame. Who schedules one staff person for breakfast? And why does it take 45 minutes to cook breakfast when they are essentially empty? Again this has been regular experience, not once in a blue moon happening. That, I get and I can live with. But there is no excuse for routinely poor service and slow food delivery. This is a great place if you don't care about waiting an hour for breakfast and can deal with poorly trained servers. Maybe stop by if you are visiting an old friend and would rather catch up on old times than eat. But anything more than that is really asking too much.

Went in for a quick dinner. Convinced my husband that this place was pretty popular and known for their chicken. I had the Sunday fried chicken special with mashed potato and spinach. I thought it said creamed spinach by sautéed spinach came out. I could have been mistaken. Husband got the penne pasta. Was okay. Not great but not bad either. Not sure what the hype is about. Service was friendly so that's a plus.

This proved a great place for a lovely Saturday/ shopping day lunch; my Mom and I had a good meal with great service. Bantam + Biddy's vide is that of a casual diner with a twist, and features some cool accessories and plenty of natural light. Our waiter was warm and attentive without being overbearing. Foodwise, we enjoyed the California club sandwich and sweet potato fries. Deviled eggs and black bean soup were average. Our drinks (Moscow Mule and Margarita) were excellent. I'd check out this place again.

This place tarnishes the "upscale" image that Avalon is trying to project. First we were offered the worst table in the restaurant. When we requested a table that was clearly unoccupied, the hostess made us wait while she confirmed that the table was indeed unoccupied. Next we waited 15 - 20 minutes for our server to make his first appearance at our table. The drinks/soft drinks were not listed on the menu (for good reason). I asked for a Coke and was provided with a single can of Coca-Cola for $2.50. $2.50 and no refills. I was also not provided with water when I finished drinking my Coke during the meal. The waiter kept on walking speedily by our table and asking if we were "ok" when it was clear we had no water at our table. We had to ask repeatedly for water. Food was average, nothing to write home about. I will not be going back. I should have checked Yelp before I went.

Diner food with gourmet prices. Service was meh and rather inattentive much like a diner. Chicken and waffles was bland and the chicken tasted straight out of the freezer section. I asked for a cappucino and got luke warm milk with a shot of espresso. The service and cappucino skills can be fixed with time and training. The food may not be able to be saved. For the price just not worth it, so many better options.

Crowded atmosphere, long waits, and the food is just all right. I ordered the fried chicken at the waiter's suggestion, and it was just not very good. The crust was really hard to eat and I wound up not eating most of it. I didn't see what the fuss was about. If I am going to splurge and eat something that bad for me, I want it to taste really good, and it just was not that good. To me, Publix has better fried chicken. At least, I saved a ton of calories and fat! I had the greens, and they were all right, and the duck fat fries, which were pretty good. The service was good, but I don't think I will go back.

Tried this place for the first time today....Came in for a late lunch & place was still very busy. Waited longer than what would be considered normal for server to greet us once we were seated. Menu looked great - lots of tasty-looking options. After ordering, we waited OVER 30 minutes for our food for a table of 5. We saw people who were seated at least 20 minutes after us get food, we saw people send food back because the order was wrong. We saw a table get seated after us order, eat & pay bill before our food came. Server came by around 20 min mark to say she sent manager back to check on our food & that it "should be right out". After that, our table became a black hole no one wanted to touch. Grabbed someone & asked them to check on our food. If it's been this bad & this long of a wait - at least offer something to nibble on as a gesture of good customer service. When food finally showed up around the 40 minute mark, someone stops by & tells us they had to change the oil. Sorry, but that is ridiculous! The food, when it finally came was good. The chicken & waffle was very good. Mac & cheese was so-so. Grits were good, but clearly had been sitting & only 1/2 of the bowl was filled (Mac & cheese filled to rim). Meatloaf reported to be good, not great. Beet side was good. Manager comes by and halfheartedly apologizes for delay. I am really shocked (but now, not surprised after reading other review about manager seeming not to give a rip about turning a bad experience around), that they did NOTHING on our bill for such a horrible experience! Even after we said, AGAIN, what a terrible experience we had when manager came to drop the check. I get that this place is within first few weeks of opening & working our quirks, but I can't excuse poor customer service. If I go back, it will be to Ansley.

Evening meal after ice skating- sadly not a good experience. I'd wait until they get their house in order. They brought 3 out of 6 meals and the other 3 people waited 20 minutes. The order was wrong for 2 people.

We tried several different appetizers. The only standout was the chicken. Otherwise food was either too salty or just uninspiring. Duck fat fries were hard and very disappointing. Don't anticipate a second visit.

A very bad experience. Service was non-existent, totally dysfunctional. This despite two managers in the restaurant--both of whom visited our table for different errors during our visit. The food was so salty as to literally be inedible: I had to send back the chicken burger, recommended by the server as the best sandwich in the house. I tasted my family's chicken tenders, chicken stew, ratatouille, etc. etc., and none of it was very good and all of it was oversalted. I work for a hospitality group and am normally inclined to cut a restaurant a break, but this experience was just bad all over. Avoid.

I ordered the Big Greek Salad with roasted chicken and the carrot ginger vinaigrette....very enjoyable. The chicken was moist with a lot of flavor and the salad dressing gave it just the right kick. As with other restaurants in Avalon, the prices are a bit steep...$12.50 for the small salad is a bit high.

This place had decent food, but needs help in other places. For starters, they were out of merlot and pinot noir wine. I mean seriously how does a restaraunt run out of wine. The fried chicken, mac and cheese and cornbread were very good. Our service, however was ok at best. We asked for a moment to look at the drink menu and didnt get service for almost 20 mins after. Then, my sweet tea had no lemon and water all over the cup. I mean what southern restaraunt doesnt give you lemon with tea? The prices are really high too, but thats to be expected in Avalon. Overall, this place has potential but the staff and service need some work and better training.

Does not live up to the menu. First, the positive. Greeted quickly and friendly. Thursday nite, medium size crowd, seated quickly. Service was great; quick, attentive and they got order correct. The low score is based on the food. Priced fair but not worth it. Meatloaf dry. Chicken tenders small, dry, more breading then chicken. Expected Mac and cheese to wow me. Box stuff is better. Pickled beets were good, jalapeno cornbread like a rock. Did not see anyone eating there who seemed thrilled with their meal.

I love this place! Third time here and the food is amazing. I like the chilequiles for breakfast. Yum. Jason the server is really sweet and even helped me out of my jacket when I got stuck. They are still working out some kinks but it keeps getting better every time I come. A lot of the servers are brand new and have never served before. But they are working on it. Love the chicken and waffles. I got my frequent foodie card and will be back!
