A+ right out the door! Fantastic food and great service. I had the shrimp curry and loved it. It had great spice and flavor behind it. No greasy mess. It's hard to find a great place like this.

Loved the taste, portions, price, friendly staff and cleanliness of the restaurant. My kids and I had the: House Special Fried Rice (Shrimp, beef, chicken roast port), Kung Pao Shrimp & Scallops and the Four Seasons Sizzling Platter (shrimp, chicken, beef, mushroom, water chestnuts, carrots, baby corn, snow peas and bokchoy)... All were delicious! Lunch is served Monday - Saturday from 11am to 3pm. All lunches served with egg roll, fried rice and choice of soup (egg drop, won ton or hot & sour). There is a note that on take out orders there will be a $1.00 extra charge. The lunch menu starts from $5.29 to $5.99. If you order from the dinner menu prices start from $7.99 to $15.99! They have a wide selection of dishes to choose from and I am sure you'll find a Chinese dish that will fill up your craving of the moment.

The food carries this review. The decor of the place is what you would expect from a strip mall Chinese food place. The wait staff is loud. The food makes it worth the trip. I had a combo of shrimp fried rice and Gen Tso chicken. Both came out fresh and very good. Would eat here again and recommend to others.

Egg drop soup very delicious. Very disappointed with the Happy Family for the price -- $13 plus. Heavy on chicken and broccoli florets. Shrimp was over cooled and rubbery while scallops were practically raw, fake crab meat was tasteless. Snow pea pods and water chestnuts were limp. How do you get so much wrong on one plate?

Probably the best Chinese food in Albany, but that's not saying much. I got the Moo Goo Gai Pan and it was pretty tasty, but needed a tad more flavor. Wish I had tried them a few more times.

Eating here again for the several dozenth time. I usually get the same thing, beef w vegetables, it's what I judge all Chinese restaurants by (if you can't get that right, something is wrong). Today, however, I wanted to try another dish. It was lunch time (between 11am-3pm), the entree portions are a little smaller & prices a little cheaper, but also includes an egg roll & choice of soup (hot & sour, wonton, & egg drop). After browsing the menu for a min, I decided on Kung Pao Shrimp & Scallops. It was very good.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. This used to be the best place to get Chinese food in the area. I have eaten here several times over the years and the food was great. Now the food is bland with no flavor at all. My wife and I ordered different things but both entrees tasted the exact same . Not spending anymore money here...

Food is good, possibly the best Chinese in Albany (tried the Kung Pao and Spicy Chicken, both were good). The service? Meh.

I have eaten here a number of times, and have called in pick up orders. I've never been disappointed. The fried dumplings and tempura shrimp are my favorites. I plan to continue going here as long as I live in Albany. Want some really good food at an affordable price? Dine here and you will not be disappointed.

It is good, but not as good as it used to be. May be ownership or chef changes, but not the best Chinese food in Albany, although much better than average. Very good hot and sour soup...

Hong Kong Cafe is one of those anomalies for me. I've never been a huge fan of the place, but it's never really been for one particular reason. I'm not overly impressed with the food there, but it's never been bad. The service has never been particularly great, but it's never been bad. I have had their curry a couple of times and it is surprisingly decent. They do serve some pickled vegetables before the meal and generally give you some kind of soup. They will also serve you some little crunchy bits that you can eat with some red sauce they have. It's not really a duck sauce I think, but something like it. It's a hole in the wall kind of place in the middle of parking lot near an Alltel. It's not in a particularly great location. The atmosphere inside is kind of dark most of the time. I would say if you generally like Chinese food then you should probably give it a shot. I know it has received several awards in the past for being a great place to eat. I've just never really been a fan. I wouldn't let that hold you back from trying it, though.

Poor service and no fortune cookies is this place's demise. First impression was the dim lights and the bare walls; basically the interior was boring. Our waitress was nice but she couldn't tell the difference between diet and regular cokes and continually mixed them up. Food wasn't bad and it was a good amount of food; however, the food is nothing to get excited about.. This is the first Chinese place I've ever been to that didn't give me a fortune cookie on my way out. If you have the choice go somewhere else.

We'd been hiking @ Providence Canyon all morning and also spent a few hours at the Riverquarium that afternoon without eating. It was now about 4 o'clock and our last meal was about 7:30 a.m. before leaving our hotel for the day. Not a good idea!!! I was in the grumpiest of moods as I fought a serious hunger headache and everything seemed to get on my nerves. I didn't like anything, from how empty the place was to the aqua blue color of the walls. My OCD nature even hated the amount of clutter on the walls and several pictures were unlevel (I felt like I was having a Monk attack). To top it all off I thought it was a buffet... but I was wrong. Too hungry to go anyplace else we stayed and ordered our food. * SHRIMP & LOBSTER SAUCE - I did mention I was grumpy right? Well, I didn't like the way it looked when it came out (sorry, no pics because my iPhone died). It looked like slop on a plate to me and to add insult to injury, I don't care for white lobster sauce. Question: When did imitation meat become an acceptable substitution for "lobster"? The waitress (poor thing was so patient) asked if I wanted something else from the kitchen but at this point I was too wired to wait any longer to eat. Well, after sampling my dish and putting my massive mood aside, I actually began to enjoy it. It was quite tasty and quickly brought me from savage Neanderthal to a civilized human being. Everything else we ordered was also very good: * EGG ROLLS - We tried both the Chicken and Veggie egg rolls. We enjoyed them so much that we ordered a second round of each. * CRAB RANGOON - Crispy with nice flavor. Perfect stuffing to dough ratio. * SESAME CHICKEN - Our kids cleaned their plates if that says anything. * SHRIMP FRIED RICE - What I appreciated most was that nothing was dry about this dish. The rice was perfectly cooked and the shrimp, egg & veggies weren't overdone. * VEGGIE STIR FRY - My hard to please wife inhaled this like a Dyson vacuum. Not sure if it was THAT good or if I just took too long to feed her! LOL THE VERDICT Lots of claims this place is the best Chinese food in Albany, including a sign on the front window. I don't know about that, but we did enjoy our meal here and the brown sauce they offer as a condiment makes just about anything taste fantastic. Be sure to get a bowl of it for dipping.

I do not see how this place gets such great reviews. Its not good. Not even close. No flavor, no taste, very bland. If there aren't any Asians running the place and you got Latinos working the kitchen, um not a 4 star place people. HERRO!!! But for people of Albany who probably never had REAL chinese, this will due.

Best Chinese place I've tried in Albany. Everything was delicious. I got sesame chicken and chicken fried rice. Price was very reasonable and service was excellent. I highly recommend.

Everything was tasty, service was good. Most Chinese restaurants seem to always have the same dishes - General Tso, Mu Shu Pork, etc. I liked that Hong Kong Cafe had dishes that I hadn't seen before, so tried one of those for myself (sorry, I lost my notes from the trip, so forgot what I had :-( My wife had one of the house specials, which included soup, egg-roll and tempura shrimp. Main complaint: Portions too large. We weren't the only table leaving with aching stomachs and carry-out boxes.

Quite possibly the best Chinese food in Albany! Living in San Jose, CA now and coming home from time to time for to visit I stop in here. The food has been superb since day one and continues to stay top notch. This place is the closest you can find to Bay Area Chinese in Southwest GA.

By far the best Chinese restaurant in Albany. Real Chinese food cooked to order. I was so tired of that fake Chinese takeout crap that are a dime a dozen. This was refreshing to find really tasty Chinese food.

This is the best Chinese food restaurant in Albany. If you're vegetarian try the stir-fry tofu and vegetables; substitute human sauce for brown sauce.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
