The kids wanted to eat here was not my choice but it's the only neatest place to us. Once again service wad horrible! It was pretty slow I get it but try not to spend more time on your phones then on your guest! You might get a bigger tip!

We have now been to Jumbo Sushi 6 times since they have opened. We have done Togo and eaten at the bar and in booths. I can honestly say they have improved since opening. Our first few times the wait time for the food was very long. But now we only waited about 20 mins for all of our sushi rolls this most recent time. The food quality is superb. The fish is high quality sushi grade. I always have a hand roll. It is the perfect appetizer. Both Togo experiences were exceptional. We called on the way home from work. We got there in 25 mins. The sushi was ready and still fresh when we got home. Give them some more time to work on the service aspect and they will be a 5 star all the way!

This place has been open for awhile and I love coming here! Finding decent sushi in the Orlando is tough (esp when you're from Cali) and if you do find really good sushi it's usually really expensive. One thing I LOVE getting here is their HOUSE SALAD. Their ginger dressing is perfect. I even dip my sushi in it! The COCONUT SHRIMP is also really good but you only get like 4-5 pieces. The first roll I ever tried here was the DANCING SALMON. I wasn't expecting what I got. It's a salmon rolled with cheese (though you can barely taste it), mango and kiwi. If you're looking for a more light desert type of roll I would suggest this. It was delicious! Like if Spring were a sushi roll, it would be this! My usual rolls however are the SUNFLOWER (eel, salmon, cream cheese, tempura fried with eel sauce), the DRAGON EYE (salmon, talapia, japanese crabstick, without carrot and green onion), the DYNAMITE (salmon, krab, asparagus, cream cheese, tempura style) and the SUNRISE ROLL (smoked salmon, eel, krab meat, avacado, asparagus and cream cheese). I find that their sashimi is pretty expensive.... besides I can peel off the salmon from one of the other rolls I usually get. The one thing I don't like (and it pains me to say this cause it's one of my favorite foods) is the Tempura Udon. I like the broth and the mix of veggies and they give you real shrimp (you know what I'm talkin about) but there's something about the noodles that I just don't like. The taste? The quality? The texture? I'm not sure what it is but usually I inhale Udon noodles. These I never find myself even finishing. Which is strange. Service here has improved since they first started and they only had ONE SERVER a night. And yet I would hear people still complaining. Not only would they have to serve but they would have to clean and wipe down the tables and help everyone else too. So if you come in one night and there's just one server, be respectful. They're trying their best!

Food taste is poor. What makes it worse is the service. Rude server. If you ask a question, she gets an attitude and then walks away speaking Chinese. Wasted my money and time. Very disappointed.

Well.... I tried to give this place a fighting chance as I work in the same plaza and there is a lack of any type of restaurants to go for lunch ..... The food doesn't match the atmosphere. I have been 4 times, that was 3 times to many. Each time the food was below average, no flavor and this last time made me sick to my stomach for the rest of the day. Wait staff is slow as well as service....not sure who's running the kitchen but it's for sure not the iron chef!

I think restaurants in this area should be more prepared when they open. We waited 45 minutes an the food never arrived. They are totally understaffed. I'll may come back in a year when they learn how to operate a restaurant

This place has a long way to go. There is not enough room to wait for a table at the host stand. The dining room lacks decor. It is a wide open space. There should be lamps hanging from the ceiling, it would add a better type of light and break up the room a little. I would also add a Chinese or Japanese style curtain above the center wall to add texture. I only ordered a Miso Ramen dish that was just OK. the broth was weak and the eggs, meat and other garnishes were cold. The noodles were hot and cooked well. Normal for an opening, ticket times were long and servers a bit confused and uncomfortable. That will get better. With a little adjusting this place will do very well.

Good food enjoyed the fire mountain with all the sauces. Bang shrimp was regulation. Didn't like the music they were playing. We ordered green tea and they brought a cup with a tea bags. I would be embarrassed as a server at a Asian restaurant to bring tea to a table like that.

I go here at least once a month, maybe every other month... It's hard to find good sushi in the Orlando, Lake buena vista area. A lot of places are fast food/ take out types. I'm from the North (NJ/ NY area) and there are plenty of great places to get sushi. I like this place bc it is close to where I live, they have a pretty extensive menu and their hours of operation are awesome too, especially for not being in the heart of things and more in a residential area. I usually get the bang bang roll and/ or the orgasm roll, and they are quite good, they are pretty big in size too. I'm always full after I eat them. Last night I tried something different, I got the shrimp yaki soba. It was ok, nothing to rave about. I'll probably stick to their sushi rolls from now on. The reason I am giving them 3 stars instead of 4 is because I think they are a little pricey. And their prices went up (I'm not sure how recently) since when they first opened. Otherwise they are a good sushi restaurant.

Me and a friend have eaten there before and the experience was not that great we would be waiting for out food in what seems like an eternity despite not being busy (only 2 other tables there waited an hour for food) plus they lie so bad about their discounts take shows ID for disney all looked like managers and they got like 20% from what I heard from there table then I ask for mine and they say we don't give discount I was like wow. Then just two day ago I wanted sushi and right as I enter with my friend I was refused service cause they now close lunch at 3 and reopen at 5. We had gotten the with half hour to spare, I get it if this is what you want your restaurant closed fine but customers will find out about this place will and soon enough close if they don't change the staff and service sad to say that was really hoping this place to be my sushi spot summary of it all don't bother with this place unless desperate for sushi

I came in to place an order to go. I waited about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged me and another 5 minutes to place the order. It was a pretty small order, 5 items for 2 people (Apps and sushi). The lady said it would be about 45 minutes for the food to be ready. Since I live about 100 yards from the restaurant, I left and came back a little early, about 35 minutes later... When I got home, it was obvious that the food had been waiting on their counter for at least 20 minutes. The fried coconut shrimp and bang bang shrimp were cold and soggy. The veg. spring rolls were cold, very greasy and soggy. The rice was cold and bland. I put the food (not the rice) in the toaster oven for a few minutes so it would at least be hot and it was just okay. It would have been much better if the fried food was crunchy.

  • Esteban B.

Eehh what can I say I'm actually waiting in my car because apparently it takes 45 min to make 2 rolls the place is understaff decor is bad don't expect much they should be more prepared. Well I still have 20min to go until my 2 rolls get packed in a box

Had mixed review and recommendation so decided to try this place. Tried the miso Raman and it was tasteless. Shrimp and vegetable tempura is ok but not fantastic. Tried the Venice roll and that was reasonably good. If i do return it would be to try another roll for a second attempt. I left feeling not satisfied today.

Overpriced, less than mediocre sushi. Filet mignon on kids menu drenched in the most awful sauce that we sent it back. The worst service ever. Over cooked and tasteless edamame. BBQ buns that had the most minute silver of meat inside that I needed a magnifying glass to find it. The only thing worth eating here was the seaweed salad...I suspect that came in a tub. Run away!!!!

    (1)
  • Abby M.

I ordered at least 5 different rolls one having fried fish and they all tasted the same. I threw out more than half of my money. No flavor. They drenched two rolls in lemon sauce and one in eel but they all tasted like the same roll. Reconsider before eating here.

Sushi is ok, not great. They definitely have some good specials at lunch, but dinner is expensive. Staff are nice but lack a bit of energy as does the ambiance of the restaurant. Good local sushi place but nothing spectacular.

Huge disappointment. I had the roasted duck ramen and gyoza. Definitely Chinese cook/owners and not Japanese. The ramen noodles tasted like "cup O noodles" noodles. Not authentic at all. Asked if they could do a katsu pork curry and the waitress looked at me like I was nuts. "What's that?" She asked. Flags went up right there. Service was decent and the establishment is nice and clean. What I wouldn't give for a coco curry in orlando!

I picked up lunch one day for a friend and I and I really, really, enjoyed it! We split 3 rolls and a seaweed salad. All of the rolls were delicious, I'm just sad I don't live closer to enjoy this spot more!

4/7/2015 I just picked up my take out and feel pretty strange about the way I was handled. I walked in the restaurant and stood in the entrance, took note that there was nobody at the front to greet people and the two waitresses that were present stood by the back wall chatting and laughing while a plastic bag with what I assumed was my food got cold by the front desk. After standing there staring at the two waitresses who had looked at me several times and chosen to ignore me, a caucasian family of four walks in and were greeted immediately and ushered to a table. It is only at this point that someone finally decides to greet me and ring up my food.

Love there dinner selections. I always get the bento box with the Salmon and Sea Bass. Always picked up my food as I have a 1 year old child who wouldn't do well at a restaurant. Always friendly and food is on time for pick up.

Nice place! Pretty quite and a bit tucked away. They have a great variety on the menu, (ramen, udon, sushi, sashimi, etc) and take out. I had the Soft shell crab in a cucumber roll. Was a bit difficult to eat because the roll was made with thinly sliced cucumber, but still was a refreshing treat. Will return here because I really love ramen and want to do their sake bombs!

Placed a take out order of sushi when the place first opened. We weren't familiar with the menu so took recommendations from the hostesses = bad idea!! The fruity roll was gross, think ambrosia salad with sushi rice. The crunchy roll was too crunchy and no defining flavor, just a mishmash of salty and I don't know what. I may try it one more time if someone has an awesome experience...

  • Jessica J.

I only ordered (take out) sushi "Mexican bubble roll" and "tuna crunch". flavor was really good for my liking, I like the fact that it separates the rolls on the menu which at first i was confused but got it right away, they did forget one of my orders so i had to wait longer. The gentleman was polite and did apologize, i had beer while i waited, i did see a couple people dining and it is not that big of a restaurant small and clean. I will being going back but only to order out.

This restaurant is brand new and have been there twice. The first time we went my wife had a roll with escolar (or white fish) she ended up getting ill from the fish. It turns out that this fish has a oil in it that causes stomach cramps. We decided to give it another try and it went much better the first try ended up getting the yaki soba bowl and a sushi roll. The total ended up being over 30$. The atmosphere isn't bad, the walls are barren and the music went from pop hits to classical to Christmas to foreign music. Very distracting and confusing. The front counter is home to a constantly ringing phone that yells out the caller id info. The main entrance it's very busy with takeout orders and it seems that the people sitting inside are just a side note. The service was the only saving grace. The service was very prompt almost to the point where it's annoying. Decent food. Super expensive prices. There are much better sushi places in the area that you could support.

Love this place! We have now been here 3 times and and will continue to return. We are always greeted immediately and have been seated at both the booths or the bar- good service at either spot. The menu is large and has great options- I'm a picky eater and I have lots to choose from! I love their sweet potato tempura roll and the avocado wrapped rolls are to die. My husband is more adventurous and gets the real deal sushi and is always pleased. And not to sound snobby but he's been to Japan twice so I feel like he knows what to judge against. Service is always prompt and friendly, we love this place!!

The best sushi I've ever had in my life was in Tokyo, followed by New York City. The sushi I've had in the Orlando area, until now, has been nothing but one disappointment after another. The sushi at Jumbo Sushi is the best sushi I've had so far in the Orlando area, period. Review updated 10/2014: after eating here more, I have to say that the quality is somewhat inconsistent. Dropping a star.

Its nice, good service, but its not really a special taste. The price is high ... Its not a really good choice .

Surprising, in a very positive way. Got the tuna 3 ways, lunch special. Received a very fair portion, and the dish was delicious. Thinking back, I would rate this as one of the top 3 sushi dishes I have in the Central Florida area. Again, portion size was very good, presentation, preparation and flavors were excellent. While not over priced for sushi, it will probably be more expensive than you traditionally spend for lunch. That considered, if you're looking to splurge a bit, I recommend the sushi at Jumbo Asian Cuisine & Sushi.

Jumbo faced some tough growing pains when they first opened the doors. Now that they have been open for a month it is perfect. I have only found one thing on the menu that I do not care for so far and it is the Pad Thai but that is not worth loosing one star over. The fresh rolled sushi has all been very good and I love the crunch roll section is my favorite. If you need it to go, call they they can have it ready in about 20 minutes.

My wife and I went for dinner on a Friday around 7 pm. We were planning on going to Rialto nearby, but it had closed since the last time we visited. So we saw this place and decided to give it a try. About the experience..... The pluses: It appeared impeccably clean and well-maintained. Staff were neatly dressed and presentable. Food came out promptly and the temperature of everything was perfect. Presentation of food was good and everything looked great. Pricing quite reasonable. The minuses: They gave us two menus each. One appeared to be an older, out of date version with a very confusing layout. I've never been confused by a menu before (other than ones with such shoddy english as to be unintelligible) so it was an odd experience. After a few minutes we gave up on that one and went on to the other which was much easier to figure out. The biggest problem was the service. Our server was friendly but very shy and rarely visited the table. I sat there with an empty glass for perhaps the last 20 minutes, thirsty as all get out from the predictably salty food. I was trying to get his attention but stopped short of standing and flapping my arms. He was clearly much more interested in flirting with a girl who worked there and they both spent a lot of time playing on their phones. The service other patrons were getting looked to be about the same as all the staff were just kinda hanging around. It started off well but it became a rush to just get out at the end so I could get a drink at a 7-Eleven. Bad way to end a meal. What we ordered: Orange chicken (with white rice, miso soup and ginger salad). Best part of the meal. Chicken was solid white meat, nice and crispy and well-balanced sweet and orange flavor. Slightly overcooked and thus dry but still quite tasty. Ginger salad was better than the typical stuff you get at a hibachi place. Miso soup was OK. Didn't try the white rice. Korean steak lettuce wraps. Pretty good. Not the same as the PF Chang's ones - somewhat creative. Overfilled and somewhat difficult to eat. Tempura vegetables. Wife ordered these. I wasn't a fan but that's more her thing than mine. She said they were OK but didn't seem too impressed. I think her issue was flavor - coating seemed bland, but she said they were cooked exactly right. Pineapple chicken rice. Big disappointment. It sounded so good on the menu but after trying some I just didn't want anymore. Overall: the pluses are there and I think they have some foundations to be quite successful. But they really REALLY need to get their act together with their staff. Maybe we'll check back in a few months and see if things are better, because I think this could easily be a 4-star review. And for crying out loud throw those goofy old menus away!

We live 10 minutes away and dine here at least once a week. We always order sushi although they have an extensive menu. They always remember my husband's allergy to shrimp when making recommendations and my aversion to cucumber in my rolls.

I wanted to try a variety of items before committing to my review, especially since they're so new! First of all, this area clearly demanded a sushi restaurant - as every time I've come, it has been very busy! The restaurant is of a decent size, and has bright paint colors on the wall (orange, green, etc.); however, it seemed dark, a little dreary, and there's nothing hanging on the walls - no artwork. Another odd thing to me was the sushi bar, there is seating there; however, it is not elevated, so you are really just staring at a wall. The first time I visited, it was a late night weekend bite (around 10:00 p.m. on a Friday) - and I ordered off of their sushi menu. This may not matter to many, but the menu does not specify which rolls have cooked fish versus raw; when I tried to ask our server, we did not get an answer, as there was a definite language barrier. Also, they have a lot of sushi combos - and none of them really described what was included. I also noticed that most of the sushi rolls had the same names and identical descriptions of Nagoya Sushi in Dr Phillips. When my sushi arrived, it was tasty - - I have nothing to complain about, other than the fact that the price was a little steep. My second visit took place during a weekday lunch, and they had some excellent deals. For about $8 I had a bento box that included a generous portion of chicken katsu, rice, salad, miso soup, and gyoza. I came hungry, and it was too much to eat. This was my favorite of the three visits. On the third visit, I went for dinner midweek with family from out of town. The music, which is a combination of classical and instrumental movie scores, was far TOO loud. I'm not sure if they felt they needed to raise the volume since the restaurant was full, but I couldn't hear the person sitting right next to me. I ordered the Yaki Udon dish from the kitchen, and while it was tasty - I'm not sure if I would order it again (Noodles and Rice in the Mills 50 district has won my heart with their udon stir fry, so a lot of places just don't compare anymore). All in all, I like it here -- the food is more than edible; however, the prices are a bit high for dinner, and the decor is certainly lacking. If I could rate 3.5 stars, I would.

This new place is an instant success, a measure of the demand for restaurants in this area, and especially sushi. My wife and I were in disagreement about the place. I thought it was quite good, while she didn't like too much about it. It's true that the lighting over the sushi bar is dreadful, and the servers seem very disorganized and inexperienced. But on the other hand, the place was slammed, with a wait all evening, after being open only three days. I thought the sushi was excellent. The fish was clearly better than most of the area sushi bars. The hamachi and kampachi sashimi were both particularly good. We both really liked the Magik roll, a mixture of tuna, yellowtail and salmon with wasabi mayo. The only clear miss was the Tom Yum, which bore no relationship to the Thai lemongrass soup it was supposed to be. Overall, I think they're doing a great job for a brand new restaurant, and will be very successful in this area.

Best sushi I've had in a while. Great quality of fish, and a nice selection. I had the maguro sashimi, hamachi nigiri and the Alaska roll (salmon, cucumber, and avocado). I read the bad reviews for this business and they are ridiculous, seriously you are complaining about the decor!? And anyone who considers going to panda express should not be entitled to an opinion about asian cuisine.

Thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. The bento box has a great presentation and the fish was fresh and tasty. My son ordered some sushi and also was not disappointed. Sitting at the bar and watching the chefs do their thing, we saw a man and his two kids order a boat which looked like way too much but he was happy. The lighting a music could be muted a little but service and food was top notch. Definitely recommend if you are living in the area. Jumbo menu! Good luck deciding

I was not really sure what I should expect when I visited Jumbo Cuisine and Sushi. Any time a restaurant purports to offer food that crosses geographic and cultural boundaries, I am suspect. Nevertheless, since I visit My French Café (across from Jumbo in an out of the way shopping plaza on 535) just about every day, I felt I had to try Jumbo. The interior is stark and modern -- orange and brown hues abound. The effect contributes to the overall darkness of the room. Décor is cold and unwelcoming. I did not find that promising. The menu is a cross section of Southeast Asian and Japanese cuisine. We limited ourselves to the sushi menu since my companion has a peanut allergy and we generally avoid kitchens that are likely to have a lot of peanuts and peanut dust. Service was slow at best, and painfully slow at worst. In any event, my companion and I ordered half a dozen sushi rolls between us. Unlike the décor and the service, however, the sushi was outstanding. All three stars that I have awarded were earned by the sushi, without question. Indeed, the quality of the sushi saved Jumbo from a potential 1 star critique and gave me hope for Jumbo's future. I would like to see Jumbo focus on one cuisine (Japanese) and do it well. I would also like to see improved lighting and service. Still, with a few changes, Jumbo could easily earn a 4th star and much more patronage from me.

Best sushi lunch I have had! This place accomodated by dietary restrictions (no rice) and provided me with an OUTSTANDING guest experience! Food was fast, and sushi was deliciously prepared. I will return!!

I was so glad when I found out that there was a Japanese restaurant so close to home, so I couldn't wait to try Jumbo. The atmosphere was odd: bright colored walls, more well lit than any Japanese restaurant I've ever been to, and the background music was a Pussycat Dolls CD. I tried to order beef teriyaki, my favorite non-sushi Japanese dish, and I was told they don't serve beef teriyaki for dinner. They serve chicken teriyaki and other types of beef for dinner, so I wasn't clear on why I couldn't have beef teriyaki. In the end, however, I settled for chicken. The salad and miso soup I had were good, but I didn't love the chicken. It seemed to be encrusted in pepper, which was an odd mix with the teriyaki sauce. Next time, I'm going to drive into Orlando for Japanese. It would be worth it.

I always give a place few try's before making a solid review, the ace is new and of course you will have waiting time etc. I order a dish with shrimp and was spicy, I ask for the menu to check if I Miss reading, it not say was spicy I returned the dish they made me another one, no sweet there, food is fresh. We come back again till then ciao

So my family went for an early dinner at 4 on Saturday and it was closed. They close at 4 and open at 5. Why? If you open at 11 then u stay open till close. That one hour closed it bad business. Despite being close by I will go to dr Phillips for sushi.

I do not normally like to give low reviews. However, I have tried this place several times due to its proximity to my home. I keep hoping for it to be decent. But it isn't. The food is bland at best, it's unoriginal and way over priced. I hope they make changes soon. If not, I can not imagine them staying in business for much longer. Try Tao Asian up the road, it's further away, but the food is far superior.

I visited the restaurant yesterday and tried some starters and a couple of rolls. For entree, I had some delicious edemames, and a not so good tuna tartar. The tuna tartar was a bowl filled with lettuce, diced tuna and an egg?? Hope I'm not wrong but first, I believe that was bot even close of being a tuna tartar.. After that I had the tuna crunch roll and the dynamite roll. The crunch roll was really fresh and crispy! I really enjoyed it. The dynamite was very good too. I liked the service, the inside and the location. My only recommendation is to the chef, consider upgrading your tuna tartar.. Its not that hard, just go online and see how the pros make it! Thank you for your time!

I live nearby by the windermere prep.school and decided to check it out. Fir the firwt month that this place was open, it was always so busy so when i went in, i was expecting to have my mindblown. It wasn't. at all. The sushi is way overpriced. I am a huge sushi eater, and this sushi wasn't any better than sushi from bento. I'm giving it a 3 simply because the servers were actually decent.

Food was very good. Sushi was awesome. Kids meal was nicely priced. Service was attentive. Clean but sparse atmosphere. Nice addition to the lakeside village center and compared to some other finer sushi places up the road it's a better value.

Loved, this place! Sushi was outstanding and the wine list had some great choices you just don't see everywhere else. We waited a little while for our food but not too bad. Our server was friendly and very attentive. We'll be back!

Nice decor inside the restaurant ..but I should have just drove the extra few miles and done Panda Express ..bento box for dinner $$$ and disappointing ..always have to give them a chance so we did..good luck in the future....

Horrible. Service left much to be desired and the pad Thai tasted like it had tomato sauce in it. I won't be going there again. If you want better Chinese /sushi and asian good try summer palace in the Summerport publix shopping center.
