I love this place! The staff is always accommodating, and so friendly. The food is excellent and I love the mimosas! I love the restaurant decor and the revolving art work.

This is a hidden gem in downtown Windermere that is very busy for brunch on the weekends with the locals. It's open only for breakfast and lunch. The beef brisket hash is one of a kind, and just writing this review is making my mouth water thinking about it. For lunch there are a selection of salads as well. Busy and can get loud, very casual environment.
(4)Melissa R.
Love Dixie Cream Cafe! Food is always good and their breakfast sandwiches are the best! I'm fortunate to live right down the street from it! The only thing I wish is that they had mimosas/brunch specials at least on Sunday's. Their mimosas are $7 a pop for a small flute glass! Other than that, I would definitely recommend it If you're near by!

Friday at 10am the place was packed and we found the service to be great. The hash left me wanting for more flavor, but I may need to try this experience again as I am close to through getting over cold like symptoms. That said, how can a taste review warrant any true credibility? So, hey the plates of food all looked appetizing and abundant! The coffee was kept hot and waitstaff we met were true to the south, warm and friendly.
(4)Kristine P.
We were visiting friends and they brought us here for breakfast. The staff was friendly and gracious, and we were seated rather quickly. The coffee was excellent and our server Christina came by several times for refills. She made a couple of recommendations and every dish was amazing! If you want a fantastic breakfast in a fun place, then come here!
(5)Rayni K.
Make sure to leave room for a slice of pie! Which can be really hard to do when their portions are rather ginormous. You can always take the pie home for a little delayed enjoyment. They have really good omelets, so any of them would be a winner. They even a healthier option with egg whites and veggies. Most of their dishes come with a buttermilk biscuit. Just 1, but it's a giant 1. And you can enjoy it with their home-made jelly, which is really good (funnily enough, I enjoyed the Smuckers one next to it more. Hah!). Their famous Smoked Brisket Hash is as advertised. They're extremely generous with the meat, so you won't feel like you're being cheated. On weekends, they do fill up quickly and you may have to wait a bit. It's not a very large restaurant, but they have a decently-sized outdoor area. Service has been pretty standard; no complaints here on that front. We'll definitely continue to come back when we wake up completely ravenous. And maybe we'll even return for their lunch offerings.

Found our new favorite breakfast spot!! We live in Windermere and can't believe it took us so long to find this place. Everything was delicious!! Great coffee!! Omelette had flavors and ingredients in every bite. Waffle had a slightly sweet flavor that was different than any I've had before and totally delicious!! Delicious homemade biscuits and specialty coffee too. Great kids choices!! Can't wait to go back and try out more on the menu!!!
(5)Norma B.
Mother's Day breakfast here was a delight. We were in no hurry arrived by 8:45 am and wait wasn't too long for our party of 7. Service was overwhelmed but being a special day we had no issue with that. It's expected and we didn't mind being able to socialize before the food arrived. I had the Brisket hash my every visit choice. My mother had the Mother's Day menu item of Buffalo Chicken Omelette that was awesome. My mother in law had classic Benedict. My sister in law had the Reuben Benedict (MD menu also). My husband had the .38 Special Omelette (huge & meaty). Everything was on point. I tried for the first time their passion fruit iced tea...omg it was good. Can't wait for my next visit and leave room for their divine key lime pie.
(5)Ingrid A.
Delicious biscuits and gravy, good prices, and servers are always friendly. I always get the chocolate chip pancake instead of the regular one that comes with the Two Egg Combo and it's only 50 cents extra.
(4)Jessy T.
We were in the area and stopped here randomly, and we sure weren't disappointed! The food, although pricey, was amazing. I had the "famous brisket hash" which was delicious. My husband had the egg combo with bacon, yum! And a pancake, double yum! Family owned restaurant.... Service was pleasant. Atmosphere bright and cheery.... If we are ever in the area again we will definitely come back. They also have an extensive lunch menu that looks great too!
(5)Allan F.
Don't speed in your car. Great place! Good food. I love the restaurant ambiance and the area. The only downside is, if they ever seat you in the back, you will likely be subjected to a nearby table talking or laughing way too loudly. I've only been 4 times and this has happened to me half the time now. Ask to be sat near the front if you can.
(4)Ted K.
We come here often with family for breakfast and they never disappoint, our favorite breakfast spot in the Orlando/Windermere area! The food is excellent, the staff is always friendly and service consistent with a very homey atmosphere. We have not had a thing on the menu we didn't like. From a regular breakfast to unique creations to healthy offerings on the menu, they have a little something for everyone. Can't wait to try the lunch one day! Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

We went to Dixie Cream for a birthday breakfast after it had come highly recommended from other friends & I must say that it lived up to the hype our friends gave it. The service was amazing. Troy was our server and everything came out quickly and fresh out of the kitchen. The portion sized were great and the food wasn't overly greasy like some breakfast places. I ordered the goat cheese omelet and it was to die for. I had it made with egg whites and it didn't lose a bit of flavor. It came with a HUGE biscuit, which was so delicious with their fresh jam. My husband ordered their famous brisket hash and said it was delicious. He is a huge brisket fan and ate every last bite. I tried a bite of my grandma's waffle and OH MY GOODNESS was it delicious. The waffle was light and full of flavor. It barely needed any butter or syrup it was enough sweetness in itself! I already told some of my other friends that we had to go back ASAP so they could try. I have already planned out what I am ordering next and can't wait to go back and visit this sweet little Windermere spot.
(4)Sergio F.
This place was great! They had a beautiful table ready for us outside at noon during the Easter Sunday brunch rush! The manager called me by name and stopped by the table several times to see how we were doing! Great to see management so involved in the day to day. The special strawberry purée mimosa was delicious and the beef brisket hash was great, but I must say that the cheese grits and the peanut butter pie were the absolute highlight of the meal! You absolutely have to try these!!! The coffee is also delicious and the restaurant is really quaint with original artwork (which is for sale) lining the walls!
(5)Dan O.
Hands down one of the best biscuits I've ever had. The omelettes are delicious, my favorites are the espanola & the goat cheese/tomato. Their breakfast meats are really good; which good bacon & sausage makes a big difference for breakfast. Their coffee is ok, but I'm a coffee snob & its hard to find good coffee in diners. The bananas foster french toast lives up to the hype, it's really good!We had the famous brisket hash & I dont know if it maybe it was an off day, but it just wasn't what we were expecting. The brisket was way over cooked. I was hoping for brisket similar to 4 Rivers (which may have been my issue to begin with) but I just wasn't impressed. The omelettes are much better. But those biscuits... they make up for all of it!
(5)Trish C.
When we first arrived, we sat at a table near the front. The flies as described in other posts were bountiful. We asked to move to the back of the restaurant and only saw one before the meal arrived so not too bad. Stephanie the owner was gracious and quite the hostess. Hubby and I shared the brisket dip with shoestring fries. They split the order for us and it was piping hot when it arrived. The brisket was very tasty as were the fries. We will definitely be back to this quaint little restaurant in the heart of Windermere.
(4)Megan W.
I'm so in love with this place. It's cute and cozy, the staff is friendly, service is quick, the food is AMAZING at breakfast and/or lunch. The brisket hash is awesome and the biscuits are the best I've had anywhere. A+ all around for Dixie Cream :)
(5)Lindsey P.
I've been to Dixie Cream Cafe three times now for breakfast and it's been AMAZING every single time! They have all the typical breakfast items as well as some out of the norm dishes but they're all so good and you get a lot of food for a good price. A lot of the dishes come with a homemade biscuit and it's the best biscuit you'll ever have. To top it all off, the service is always great! Everyone is so friendly and nice. To Sum it all up, it's hands down the BEST breakfast place in Orlando! I will definitely be returning :)
(5)Angela E.
This is a cute little cafe/bakery in downtown Windermere. We had the pulled pork barbecue sandwich, which was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the shoestring fries. They weren't hot and I'm not sure that they were freshly made. We had to wait a few minutes for someone to offer to sit us, but after that the service was great. Our server's name was Heart and she is such a sweet and cheerful lady. The desserts looked delicious, but we didn't have room to try them.
(3)Jerry G.
I love this place, I go 3-4times a week and love the food, the workers and the owner. Very very friendly atmosphere
(5)Vanessa L.
Authentically friendly staff. Not pretentious. Manager runs her ship well and the staff respect her and want to do their jobs well. Which makes it a place where I will return. Oh, and great food!!
(5)Ruth B.
My favorite breakfast place. The menu is brilliant! My personal favorite is the fried green tomato eggs benedict, or the chicken and grits, or biscuits and gravy, or brisket hash browns. Ok....you guessed it, whatever I try becomes my new favorite! I noticed that Dixie does not resort to a lot of super sweet breakfast items to get attention for unique choices like Kikis does. But if you have a sweet tooth....The peanut butter pie is amazing! Great service always, and the young adult kids can be found working there! I love that, family values and great food!
(5)TinyPlantGifts ..
My husband and I love love love Dixie Cream Cafe! The food is so delicious. We wish they were open later in the day, because we love breakfast anytime of the day. It's so convenient for us, being local to Windermere (Keenes Pointe). You must try their pancakes (big size!), the cupcakes and pastry counter area...all are delicious. I love the artsy vibe and all the happy, smiling people! It's a must visit!
(5)Jared V.
Only been here for breakfast, but I'm mighty fond of it. I've had a skillet, which was just awesome and filling and diet friendly (meat, eggs, veggies, and hot sauce-- low carbin' it!), though I've had their less-diet friendly food and been just as happy. Pancakes here are good, and the biscuits and gravy here are actually quite good. The service here has been fast and attentive the times I have been, and I've never had to wait. I wish I lived a little closer, but maybe it's best that I don't so I don't come here too often and fatten up.
(4)Shelley H.
Breakfast and lunch are yummy, service can be slow on weekends as DCC is very popular with locals. They have scrumptious bakery items!
(5)Ashley A.
Seriously delicious food and great service. Outdoor seating in quaint downtown Windermere is a nice option.
(5)Robbie D.
Such a pleasant place. I am a burger lover, yet the Veggie on Ciabatta is fantastic! The flavors just go together so well. My daughter says they have the "best grilled cheese ever" with a side of fruit. If I order the shoe-string fries, I eat them all :) Enjoy the ambiance. Highly recommend.
(5)Beau H.
I've always thought, if I owned a restaurant I would make sure my customers knew how much I appreciated their business. Not so at this establishment. Aside from the fact you will wait extended periods of time for your food, and the facility is poorly vented, poor decor, very loud and often understaffed....the owner displays little, if any friendly behavior toward her customers and never acknowledged many customers who were regulars. All of that, along with the food being mediocre at best... We no longer spend our money at this restaurant.
(1)Shelby M.
Today was my first visit and it was enjoyable. The staff was hustling for sure as expected for Saturday morning. My server Jessie was really sweet and smiley despite running around! The biscuits were huge and super tasty. My omelet was simple and probably an inch thick. I'll be back.
(4)Dennis Q.
My husband and I dine here frequently and are never disappointed. The biscuits are amazing, super friendly service and very generous portions. It's a great addition to the small downtown area in Windermere. Love it, only suggestion would be to have more healthy options.
(4)Meredith r.
My husband and I are convinced that the person who wrote the previous review worked for a competing breakfast restaurant chain. That isthe only reason we can justify such a horrible review. I had seen that person's review and we held off going until a friend of mine went and also said it was excellent. We went on a Sunday around noon with our two daughters aged 2.5 and 10 months. That alone is a great litmus test for a restaurant-seeing how they treat them. We were all welcomed warmly by the owner and seated promptly. Our waitress was great-coffee was delicious!! The creamer was in these cow pitchers which was cute-but it was sitting on the table with a ring around the inside so I don't know how long it was sitting out. That was the only suggestion I have. The biscuits melt in your mouth and were piping hot. My husband had a bl fried green tomato sandwich and I had an egg sandwich with tillamook cheddar on toasted sourdough with Yukon gold potatoes on the side. Both were delicious. They even made sure the hot plate was placed away from my daughter's grasp (you'd be surprised how many people do that!). The desserts are all made by this lady from Disney and look incredible. Three layer chocolate cake, peanut butter cupcakes with jam inside, chocolate cupcakes with mousse inside. It is a warm, welcoming place that deserves much more credit that the previous review. It is our new favorite brunch spot!!
(5)Gabe M.
Very generous and delicious portions! We headed here for breakfast on a Saturday around 10:30, even though I read about the flies on Yelp. Lol. We had one fly pay us a visit before we got our food that wouldn't go away, but eventually it did. :) The Passion Fruit tea was really good unsweetened, but be sure to mix it well so you don't drink most of the syrup first like I did. :) I ordered the Chicken and Biscuits/Grits meal (which is plenty to split with a friend btw!) and my boyfriend had the Biscuits and Gravy. We tried splitting both dishes and it was still too much food. The biscuits were massive. Seriously. But oh so good. The sausage gravy had tiny bits of pepper in it, not spicy though. It was different and good. Overall it was nice service, took a while to get our food, and the food was good. We may come back since it's close to the house.
(3)Deborah G.
Love! The food is always fantastic and the service is even better! Wonderful spot to enjoy the beauty of our downtown Windermere area. They never disappoint. Highly recommend!
(5)Amanda W.
Not a friendly staff! Food didn't look that good, but tasted good. won't come back here again because of the service. Our waiter didn't come by once after we got our food. Never refilled coffee. Never asked me for a another drink, and only asked if we wanted the check after I had to stack our plates up to let him know we were finished.
(2)Nayla M.
How they have 4 stars baffles me! This place is a 10 star! Biscuits and gravy were to die for, kids had pancakes and French toast sticks. Husband had vanilla cinnamon battered French toast. It's NYD so they had a special menu for today including mimosas ;) Really cool ambience! Will definitely be back!
(5)Andie F.
My roommate and I came here for breakfast and we were not disappointed! I had the "Skinny Omelet," which consisted of egg whites, spinach, tomatoes and ricotta. It was delicious! I usually can't finish a whole omelet but my plate was clean by the time I was done! My roommate had two eggs, sunny side up, with a side of bacon (extra crispy, as requested) and the tastiest banana nut pancake! It did not need any butter or syrup; the bananas in the pancake were enough and the walnuts gave it a slightly sweet, nutty contrast that sealed the deal. Besides the food, our service was great and it seemed like they were pretty busy for a late Thursday morning. I will be returning soon!
(5)Kevin R.
This place is no dive but they sure pile on the portions like it. Huge servings, great service and really quality food. Love the omelettes and the hash and make sure you get one of their fresh biscuits. Locally owned, great neighborhood too! I'd rate it a 4.5 really.
(4)Janet L.
The food is wonderful. Our server was Brandon and he was great. The kitchen didn't send out all of our food at the same time. The restaurant was so unbelievably loud we could hardly have conversation. If I return I would only eat outside.
(3)Amanda L.
We are new to area and actually stumbled upon this place by accident. It was a fabulous find! We were getting a bit concerned that all there are were chain restaurants in Florida but this is a true locally owned business. We went for lunch and I had the Cobb salad and my husband had the Cali burger. Both were delicious and our server, Heart, was a sweetheart! She told us about the local area and made us feel welcome. We even met the owner, Stephanie, on our way out (when we bought a delicious chocolate chip cookie). Overall a great experience and we will be back soon!!
(5)Tuncer P.
It took thirty minutes to get our food and a couple that was seated after us received food before we did, even though our food was a cold chicken salad and a brisket sandwich. The food was good when it finally arrived, but the noise level inside made it difficult to talk.
(1)Rich B.
great food kitschy atmosphere. remembered our names even tho we'd been there only once and over 3 weeks ago. will make this a regular for lunches and breakfast. not a sweets person, but they seem to have a popular bakery. they do take out too. family run many members. staff seems comfortable working together and extra friendly. decent parking for a little downtown area. nice place to walk around if you need to wait more typical on Sundays. definitely cheap items on menu although a decent meal with drink will be around $15 pp.
(5)Matt M.
Good breakfast spot with super service and a diverse menu. Windemere is such a fantastic place to walk around and this place just fits the neighborhood. The food was good and the place is quaint. Afterwards we walked around the neighborhood and it is like Mayberry.
(3)Gen F.
We went off the beaten tourist path and were delighted by what we found. The soup of the day was french onion so I was sold before I even looked at the menu. Mine came smothered in cheese and had way more substance to it than the usual broth only version at other restaurants. Service was fast and friendly and it was great to see a family owned place after a few days of massive theme parks and tacky gift shops.
(5)Southridge B.
Dixie Cream Bananas Foster are to die for! Share if you can! Omelettes are made to order and taste fantastic!
(5)Dianne D.
We have been to the Cafe many times since it opened. The service is slow and unresponsive. We have waited for up to 20 minutes for drinks and up to 45 minutes for food. The owner/manager woman greets and speaks to many tables but never to us. The majority of the servers are high school age kids with no experience. Food is ok but not worth the wait. We will not be back after the last experience of over-cooked Mac n' Cheese and soggy stale fries.
(2)John F.
Nice local breakfast / lunch place. Very good friendly service and accommodating to all ages. Will be back again.
(4)Rob S.
We have been here twice before today and the food and service were average. Had a bad experience here today though, we had to wait a long time for service then the server tells us our food will come out after the 12 top ahead of us, then the food comes out cold and they give me a $1 discount!! Really...$1 What an insult............will not go back---lost a good future customer/family over $1 -- Hope it's worth it to you.
(2)Christopher P.
This place is ridiculous - the owner is this awful hearted lady that thinks she can deny a service dog. She tried to tell me if they offer outdoor seating we had to sit outside, that is completely not true FYI then she made up some bullshit that someone had allergies that's not my problem either. So yeah we said screw it the first time and sat outside just so she could serve my friends and I cold waffles and Luke warm coffee - and just like the other negative responses she didn't give a shit. The second time I went there was with a larger group and right down the street from my friends - I again had my service dog with me, it wasn't till we were all seated that she came up to me and said you know better not to have her in here. I said she's a service dog she can be in here you are incorrect. She obviously didn't want to lose money to a 13 top and sucked it up, she has the worst attitude and could give a shit about the guest. The food this time was mediocre at best - the uncomfortable feeling didn't help the whole energy of the table either. So the third time - I know I know - why go back? Well we had already had our fix from the local brunch spots and I had some family in town that wanted to try something new - I said well we can try - once again I go with my service dog and we want to sit inside - it's humid and about 90 degrees out side and I have a 75 pound malamute - so we go to ask for a table and she goes, sorry you have to sit outside - I said ma'am this is not the law you need to double check your information - she then said sorry there are people with allergies again - that doesn't matter - she then says "we have kids in here" like all of the sudden she's scared for the lives of children because of a service dog really!!!!! Then I tell her you're wrong go check the laws this is bullshit you keep putting me through this - she goes you know what you can take you, your friends and your stupid service dog and never come back and puts her hand on me to leave. She's lucky I didn't call the cops right then and there. This place is a joke - they don't care about their guests and service, which makes their food half ass - I would save your money and get better service at your local mcdonalds - I mean when you have 5 star places like KeKes and Peach Valley down the street - don't waste your time with this garbage hut.
(1)Robyn B.
We've been here only once, but I have to say it was okay. Our server was pretty attentive, which probably had to do with the fact that we showed up thirty minutes before close. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. Gigantic portion that I definitely couldn't finish, but it was good. The decor and overall feeling of the place was almost hitting that 'before look' of a Restaurant:Impossible location. The paint on the walls were chipped from the chairs, nothing really matched, etc. We'll probably try it again, but it's not really on the top of our must do list.
(3)Lara D.
This is one of my favorite breakfast spots! The food is really good and the biscuits are big and buttery! The biscuits and gravy is delish! So are the creamy grits! I've always had good service and really enjoyed my meal.
(4)Alison M.
Really excellent breakfast! Fried green tomato Benedict, cheese grits, homemade biscuits. The staff is so nice and friendly-- great meeting spot for a yummy breakfast with friends
(5)Stefanie M.
I grew up walking distance from Dixie Cream Cafe location, and my parents still live there. Of course, when I was growing up, it was the Ready Market. . .then the post office. . .then a bunch of other things. . . and now it's the Dixie Cream Cafe. I'm really happy for Windermere to have this place to go to. Whenever I visit from Atlanta (which is several times a year) I ask to go here for breakfast with my parents, because let's face it, there are not that many great breakfast options around this area. Perkins just sucks. First watch is a generic no character chain. Ocoee Cafe is fine if you don't mind the coronary bypass and sick feeling afterward. I really like Dixie Cream Cafe, they do good food with a smile and a little neighborhood character. My favorite is the main street benny, my husband likes the brisket hash, which if I remember correctly, it's HUGE!) The biscuits are also huge and fluffy and yummy! These are the kinds of places I like to frequent in Atlanta, locally owned neighborhood establishments, and I'm glad to see Windermere finally got their neighborhood cafe too! P.S. I'm kinda surprised at the negative reviews, but then again I'm not. It's Windermere.
(4)Ginger L.
I've been here for lunch, coffee and today for breakfast. I ordered Lo-Carb breakfast. Food was tasty. Service was very good. Coffee is not my favorite, but drinkable. Food is definitely on the pricey side though.
(4)Betzy ..
Great breakfast place. I had the biscuits & sausage biscuits to die for! Would definitely go back again. The waitress was very good and I highly recommend this place
(4)Christine M.
Wonderful breakfast & lunch cafe. The have a nice variety of menu items from traditional eggs & bacon to some deep fried waffle with caramelized bananas. The service is good, the servers are attentive and nice. It can be a busy place, which shows how good the food is, but can mean you beverage make take a moment to be refilled. But it's only a moment. They also have cupcakes and baked goods in a glass cabinet at the register for take out that look amazing. My son loves their mac n' cheese, and our other son raves about their Belgium waffles. They have local artwork on the walls that is very attractive and can be purchased. It's quite colorful, and I enjoy it's presence.
(4)Jennifer G.
Went here on Mother's Day and thought it was great. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a table, which was expected on Mother's Day. I had breakfast which consisted of eggs, bacon and pancakes. Everything was cooked very well. My only complaint is that it took FOREVER to get extras like button, cream for the coffee, etc. We had to ask three different people. I grew up in Windermere and my parents still live there. This was the post office and later the Ready Market when I was growing up. It is nice to see a breakfast restaurant in this quaint little town. If they would work on their service a bit, it was be a great place.
(4)Jonathan F.
Total neighborhood restaurant in downtown Windermere. I went there for brunch and it was a good experience. The menu is basically a library of comfort food with fun twists. I order the soup and sandwich combo. The sandwich is OK, but Tomato bisque is fantastic!
(3)Brandy G.
Amazing home cook food!! The best Brisket Hash, homemade Biscuits, perfect lattes;). I love this hidden gem!! The customer service is outstanding!! Thank you everyone For making our meals so outstanding & that extra bit Of care & service goes so far!! You guys rock;)
(5)K G.
My favorite place of all time. I'm never disappointed. I LOVE THE FOOD and the speciality coffee drinks. Servers are always so nice. Food is always quick, delish and consistent and the prices aren't bad either! So excited to take my parents to try it!
(5)Selena C.
We've been there many times, my kids love their fries and cupcakes. I've had several different items, think their banana pancakes are the best breakfast item...not sure why but their bacon isn't that great, hard to mess up bacon but it's not terrific. They have a yummy Fried Green Tomato, bacon, lettuce sandwich. It's a good spot, nice people, think it could be better but I'll keep visiting.
(4)Susan T.
This is a cute quaint tucked away restaurant with good service. They advertise themselves as Southern. Southern food is not bland like their food. They mostly serve breakfast. The scrambled eggs were slightly overcooked with little flavor, the chicken steak was also bland and the grits were too runny. The biscuits are huge but, you can't make good biscuits when they are that big. The biscuits are soft on the inside and hard on the outside. The portions are generous but, I prefer quality over quantity.
(3)Ali M.
Yum, yum, yum sums this place up. You must try their brisket and breakfast quesadilla. A place with great tasting food makes you feel right at home, small town atmosphere that is hard to come by nowadays. A hidden gastronomical gem in Windermere....p.s don't miss their jelly and biscuit!
(5)Stephen W.
Went there for the first time last Tuesday. I'm from out of town and actually own a Cafe an hour away. I'm very impressed. Menu is huge, location is perfect, outdoor seating very nice, fresh flowers, umbrellas. I had the brisket quiche (they smoke their own brisket), very good, served with fresh fruit. Owner took the time to come outside and greet me. Server was very friendly. I'll be back.
(5)G L.
What a cute place for breakfast and bruch. We loved it! Hubby had the Espanola Omlette and I had the Egg White Frittata....generous serving size and yummy. ....we kept half for the next day breakfast :) We are definitely going back for more.....plus to try the delicious looking desserts in their display case!
(5)Tiffany I.
Yum breakfast spot, great service! I had the buttermilk pancakes that were huge. Other meals ordered were the 38 omelet, biscuits n gravy, and brisket. Everything was delicious although I would say the brisket was the best! I will definitely order that next time. Can't forget the milky way latte, although I would add more caramel and chocolate to it. Our server was quick and efficient, the chef even came out to see how our meal was. Cute small restaurant with many paintings inside.
(4)Anna B.
Ok, I'm going to be completely honest. I've been there a couple of times, and every time, it takes forever to get your food, and the most of their food is bland. I was sitting at the table probably a total of 40 minutes before I got my food. Total, I was there for an hour. I got the burger today, and the burger was dry, and it took another 5-10 minutes just to get some damn ketchup and mayo. I have experienced much better. But someone needs to give them some constructive criticism. I would love to see them improve. Windermere needs a decent cafe.
(2)Betsy G.
Great breakfast spot! Good coffee and good service. Will be back!
(4)Kristina M.
I loved the chicken and waffles special as well as the hash but the service was so slow on the few occasions that I did come. Would like to give it another try since it is so close to home and the food is good.
(3)Margaret M.
This place is absolutely wonderful. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here, and the owner, Stephanie, went above and beyond to create an absolutely gorgeous, classy, and DELICIOUS presentation. We go back all the time. :)

Anyone going through Windermere should not miss the Dixie Cream Cafe. I went today for breakfast and had a delicious Do Wa Ditty omelette; it was outstanding ... as was the biscuit - always get the biscuit!

I enjoy the food and the proximity to where we live because Orlando doesn't offer too many local places to eat. The only downside is the slow service. The burgers are great for lunch and the biscuits are great!

Excellent broeakfast with superior food. This isn't your regular old breakfast. Great omelette and all the sides were very good. The brisket hash is awesome and the bacon was a better product than you get in your regular breakfast place. Great job, whenever I am in this area I will make a point to stop here.

We have given this place a couple tries as it is new, but it really is a downer. The first time we went my Husband had a quiche with figs. He said it was really great, so we went a second time even though the sour dough pancakes I had the first time were awful. I make my own sourdough pancakes and while keeping sourdough happy takes a little extra effort over time sourdough pancakes are not difficult to make. The pancakes were undercooked and it seemed like there was something off with the batter (maybe they did not keep the yeast happy in the sourdough *shrug*). The service was average for our first visit. The second time the service was horrible. They were out of a lot of things. They even ran out of silverware. I'd like to note that they were not busy, so it perplexes me why they were not able to keep up with the dishes. Both me and my husband had to change our orders because the first items we selected they were out of something for the meal. I ended up ordering a yogurt parfait. It was served in an old fashion type sundae glass and a long sundae spoon. The glass was so high that the rim of the glass was at my forehead making it uncomfortable to eat having my elbow raised so high. I tried on numerous occasions to get the servers attention to ask for a different dish, but was unsuccessful. By the time we were able to get her attention my husband had already finished his meal, so we just decided to get out of there. Don't waste your time go somewhere else!

The only regret I have regarding the Dixie Cream Café is that we did not find this gem sooner. I had passed it many times, driving through Windermere. I thought maybe it was a lunch counter. Each time I passed it I thought about looking it up on Yelp, but always forgot by the time I was no longer driving. Until one day when I finally remembered, and now the rest is history. Location: Conveniently placed in small strip mall on Main Street in the quiet, charming town of Windermere, FL. Located southwest of Orlando, it's a stone's throw away from nearby Ocoee, Winter Garden, Dr. Phillips, and the northern section of Disney. The parking lot is on the small side but we have always found a spot. Atmosphere: When you walk in there is a host/hostess stand to the left near the dining room and a coffee bar and pastry case to the right. The entire place is bright and airy with large windows letting in the Florida sun. The restaurant features paintings from local artists on all the walls. Tables for four line the left side of the dining room, while a row of tables with chairs on one side and banquette style seating on the other, line the right side of the room. The room continues with more tables around the corner, rounding out the L-shaped dining room. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Service: From the friendly greetings of the host/hostess, the pleasant competencies of the servers, and the warm table-visits from the owner - we are always very satisfied with the service at Dixie Cream Café. They can get very busy at times, especially on the weekends or when there are special events going on nearby. A little patience and understanding from the patrons make everyone's life easier in times like these. Food: Both breakfast and lunch are wonderful! Breakfast - I always start with coffee. They bring out a cute cow-shaped creamer pitcher to accompany their coffee and tea service. The coffee is hot, fresh, and delicious. They have the most decadent omelets I have ever eaten. My absolute favorite is the Goat Cheese and Tomato (Creamy Goat Cheese, Applewood Smoked Bacon and Diced Tomatoes), followed closely by the Doo WaDitty (house made Chive Cream Cheese, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Scallions and Diced Tomato). The omelets are served with a buttermilk biscuit and breakfast potatoes. The biscuit is enormous and so light, flaky, and delectable. Ask for a caddy of jams to boost the biscuit even further into Heaven (strawberry is my favorite!). Other breakfast items that folks in my party have ordered and loved, include: 38 Special Omelet (Smoked Ham, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Italian Sausage, Chorizo Sausage and Jack Cheese), Dixie's Famous Smoked Brisket Hash (House Rubbed, Slowly Smoked for 12 hours {12 hours ex-act-ly} Beef Brisket, Hand Pulled and then Smashed with Potatoes Pan-Seared and Griddled with our 5 Herb Infused Olive Oil), and Biscuits and Sausage Gravy (Two Buttermilk Biscuits Topped with our Homemade Sausage Gravy). My family has also tried some of the specials that are featured on a separate menu. All have been decadent and gratifying. Lunch - We have not tried many lunch items because we can't stay away from the delicious breakfasts! But we have tried a few things. Mac and Cheeses (Orrichette Pasta in a Creamy Four Cheese Sauce with a Crispy Crumb Crust) - let me tell you about my love affair with this delightful, albeit sinful, crock of goodness. Velvety, rich, smooth, and most importantly YUMMY! I can never eat the entire crock but it makes for an enjoyable lunch the next day at work. The Dixie Club (House-Roasted Turkey Breast, Grilled Multigrain with Sliced Tomato, Field Greens, Bacon, Avocado and Blue Cheese Mayo) and the Cuban (In House-Smoked Pork and Smoked Ham Pressed together with Swiss, Mustard and Sliced Pickles) are both wonderful as well. Price: Dixie Cream Café is not the cheapest diner-type eating establishment, but the quality of the food is at a much higher standard than a typical diner. Both breakfast and lunch averages around the $10 an entrée range. If I have not mentioned it before - the food is worth every penny! Overall: In case you have not realized this yet, I love this place! We frequent it often, rave about it to our family and friends (or anyone who will listen), and take our out-of-town visitors - any reason we can find. Go there, enjoy it, and become a regular!
