Healthy Meal suggestions for Outback Steakhouse

Yesterday was my hubby's birthday, and we did not want to go too far from home. We never usually go to Outback bc the weekends are pretty busy but during the week, it's not crazy busy where you have to wait forever. We both had a steak and I had crab legs as well. Both were pretty good. Their potato soup is great, and their broccoli is yummy too. I am trying to cut down on carbs so I didn't go crazy on the bread but it was tasty as ever. Our service was great. Our waitress was sweet, nice, and super efficient. They sang happy birthday to my husband and he was gleaming with happiness. Oh also, I signed up for coupons to be sent to me through their website so we had an $8 coupon, so that made it even more awesome.

Attended here tonight for a family dinner. Not a good experience. We have been to Outback several times but are done as of now! Each time we have noticed the portion sizes have decreased while the prices go up. To top it off the service was horrendous tonight, so slow, we asked for refills and never even received them while we waited an additional 20 minutes to finally get the bill. I asked a passing server for a packet of sweet and low and she responded with you'll have to ask your server. Wow! Didn't realize it was such hard task. Won't be returning to this establishment or another Outback.

Sad to see such poor reviews here! We come often but usually get drinks/apps/sandwiches. Knowing that folks are likely going for steak & such, keep that in mind. I have never had bad service. Once this summer, a waitress was staffed to the porch and was running drinks while we waited. Can't complain about that! Try the wings, they are a little like the blooming onion with the same spice rub. Super yum.

absolutley worse Outback I have evr been too. Not only did they mess up our orer but then they over charged us by 30.00, and when they " fixed " the check it was still wrong... Waste of time and money !!!!

Well? What can I say? I like the few menu changes such as the lobster and shrimp bites appetizer with the Thai chili dipping sauce and revisiting an Old favorite in the coconut shrimp with the marmalade dipping glaze for our appetizers but a place that claims to be a steakhouse to this day still doesn't deliver the goods let alone a great steak. They may consider changing the name to Outback seafood house as the seafood outshines the steak once again. Our server Cassandra was top notch and was very friendly and always there to take good care of us. Maybe ask your sister company, Carrabbas why they are able to serve a better steak than its big brother but Outback is still not my first choice for a fine steak.

Good times.............. Have always had great service with good food. This place would get 5 stars if they had more parking! This place is always packed at night, especially on the weekends. Even though crowded, the wait staff really tries to make your meal wonderful. I have had the outback special most times, but the baby back ribs are also a great choice. The chopped blue cheese salad never fails to satisfy. If cooking a steak for you, they always seem to get it just right. Usually too stuffed to eat dessert, nonetheless their selection is scrumptious!

I came again to give it another chance and the 2 stars are just for the server. He was great! The food was not good. We ordered the new special of steak with crab meat because we tried jt at another location (Henderson) and it was delucious! Not the case at this outback in Wesley Chapel. Steak did not have ANY flavor. Very very bland not typical of outback steaks. They gave us a little crumb of crab meat on top. You could hardly see it. I didnt take a picture of it but i wish i did because it was ridiculous The chopped salad had no flavor at all and lettuce was soggy. Not the typical fresh salad i am used to get at outback The bread was cold and not even warm like it usually is in other putbacks I am not sure what is wrong with this Outback but it gives a bad name to the chain. I am a Outback lover for many years but unfortunetely this wesley chapel location does not know how to really make the Outback signature steaks. Sad! If you do not know the real flavor of Outback then you will enjoy this location but if you like the real stuff and you are in new tampa just drive to south tampa and go to Henderson location it will be worth it

Ordered take out on August 13, 2015. I ordered the Alice Springs Chicken, they forgot the honey mustard sauce, there was none on the chicken nor on the side, the chicken tasted dry!! The loaded baked potato was not loaded, there was no sour cream and the bacon bits & cheese was so minimal it was laughable! On the second order, sirloin with parmesan fries, what a joke, you could count 9 fries! Did the employees eat them on the way out! The lettuce was wilted on the house salad! The bread was hard as a rock!! We threw out the bread, and the salad, luckily we had sour cream and cheese for the potato at home and I had to use regular Ranch dressing to try and add some flavor and moisture to the dry chicken. We used to dine/order out at this location once or twice a week, but it has become less frequent as during the week there are always problems and the weekends are too busy to be worth the wait. This will be our last time, I don't recommend this location, they give Outback a bad name.

Five stars for food...1 star for the wait...3 stars combined. Called ahead for a party of nine and still ended up waiting for over an hour (in fairness, it was Saturday night on Labor Day weekend, however, we were never given any indication it would take this long, and were virtually ignored for most of that hour). We had four starving kids...and adult said "One day we'll all look back on this and smile, and say, remember that time?..." and a child chimed in "...that time we almost starved to death?!?!" Thank goodness for the sample plates that came around once every 20 minutes and served as appetizers for most of us, as well as the bread we requested for the kids (after an hour of waiting). We were finally seated at adjoining tables, and the situation brightened for the most part from that point forward...at least for the me and the other adults. Our server was friendly, quick and attentive to our entire party, and iur food didn't take long from when we were seated. From my son: "Do not order the kids hamburger, it's horrible." For argument's sake, I'll mention that he is very picky and only eats a handful of things, but he refused to eat the plain hamburger with pickles and ketchup...even after complaining of starvation for over an hour. My meal was the petite filet Mignon (medium) topped with Portobello mushrooms and Parmesan cheese, accompanied by broccoli topped with cheddar cheese and a glass of pinot noir. I have to admit, I am still dreaming about this meal. I may have been so hungry it altered my opinion somewhat, but I don't think so. It was WONDERFUL, I cannot wait to go back and have it again!

Outback Steakhouse has long been a fixture of quality food, fun atmosphere at reasonable prices. Since 1983 when their first restaurant opens on Henderson they have been serving consistent quality and service. Over the last few years, all restaurants have tinkered with their portion size and prices to survive the economy. Outback has taken it to a whole new level with my meal this evening. Their pricing increase has outpaced their portion decrease to a comical level. When the server brought my dinner, I could only chuckle and ask where the rest of it was?!! She offered to bring me a new plate, but I rarely send my food back to the kitchen, and certainly someone in expediting had seen and approved sending it out to me. I fear I have closed the file on Outback experiences for me and will not be back. Raise your prices or shrink your portion size, but do not attempt to trick my out of my money. I work just as hard for it as you do. Oh how I will miss the chocolate thunder from down under

Wow. Been to this location many times with pleasant experiences. But tonight the oak grilled 9 oz. sirloin was very bland. Couldn't taste the flavor at all. Very disappointing. I see they've done some remodeling to the exterior of the building. They should be spending time making sure the new chefs are up to snuff. Separately my wife had oak grilled chicken and did taste the flavoring. Shame there isn't more consistency in the kitchen.

So my rating is only for this experience here. As you will see, this is pretty justified. The three of us ordered and were very specific. I made sure to ask my guests if I said something confusing when my order came out wrong, but they said it was pretty clear. One guest received her quesadilla with mushrooms, which just minutes before we had a conversation with our server about how she dislikes them and could she have them off of the quesadilla. In addition, my salad was a "small salad" with uncut chicken tenders on too when I ordered a large BBQ ranch crispy chicken salad. Ok. So it happens, right? No biggie. But what happens when they bring you a "large salad" but it also isn't the one you ordered??? Do you eat it? You really wanted that BBQ crispy chicken southwest salad thing you ordered. So I told her I wanted the proper dish and she apologized and said it would be out in a minute. In the meantime she left this salad and I picked out and ate all of the crispy chicken because I was starving. I had already eaten a loaf of bread so I was on a roll. Get it, "roll?" Well, my guests both finished their drinks and meals and I had picked out all of the chicken from the wrong salad. It must have been 20 minutes later when the kitchen brought out the "right" salad. I HAD to inspect the salad given the history of the evening. Now this is where the 1 star comes in: the chicken was RAW! pink. Chicken. In. My. Salad. Proof is in the pictures. I was done at that point. At least I filled up on bread and chicken from that other salad which was cooked (I checked). So they get 1 star because I didn't die :) and because they didn't charge me.

I have not been to an Outback chain restaurant in a looooong time and I used to really like it. However, now the food deserves no stars but I gave 2 stars for the service alone. Our waitress was nice and management was also very nice. I don't think there was anything that wrong with our food except for the prime rib being too rare. However nothing tasted good! I feel like the quality overall at Outback has declined, I don't think it's particularly this locations fault because since it is a chain the food gets shipped to them and they just cook to order. My steak was ok cooked right but lacked flavor, the blooming onion was not like I remember .... I can go on. We were just not impressed and for shelling out almost $100 bucks for a family of 4 it better be worth it. Outback is definitely one restaurant that is not worth the money. That's what I get for going to a chain I guess.

My sweet husband and wonderful kids took me to outback for my birthday and I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. Hubby and I had the sirloin and lobster, the lobster was tough and flavorless. Very disappointing. Now I have to say that the shrimp and lobster bites appetizer was very tasty. The sangria was good and the kids talpia and cheeseburger were very good. Our waitress cassandra was great! Get the steaks straight outback

Service was very good. The filet mignon was tough and not all that good. This chain used to be so good, now they are just average. I don't think it is the location, just the overall quality has dropped.

I have been to this restaurant several time. I like the outback at this particular location due to their service, material control, chef skill are top of their own chain restaurant. Tonight is special new year eve night. My wife call ahead for on system reservation. When we get there, there are already a lot of people waiting. The hoster said it need 1.5 hour of wait. We tell them our reservation and we waited for 20 minutes. We sat down at 6:15 and the line is still building up after we have left at 7:40 pm. We came here today is not about the new year eve. It is about the Wednesday special 3 course meal $12 and up. It came with soup or salad and desert at entree price. I have chicken totier soup with 12 oz prime rib and my wife have the Parmesan chicken. The totier soup is tomato base with spicy flavor and chicken chunk. The cheese melt in the soup make the spoon feed with dragging line of cheese from the bowl. The prime rib is an open grilled cooking and it is about a inch thick. It marinate with pepper corn and salt. They grilled to folk tender medium rare. It came with grill asparagus. My wife Parmesan chicken have the cheese on top and lite spice of garlic and salt. This make the Parmesan crispy when it oven baked. The crispy crush make the food more flavor to eat. The overall service tonight is a bit slow due to crowded condition. The line still build up.

Worst experience ever at Outback!! The service was slow and terrible. The lettuce on the salad was brown. I exchanged it for the potato soup and it was cold. Then I got my meal I ordered my Out ack special steak medium and I received a steak that was like beef jerky and all of our fries were cold and old. I had them make me another steak and that one was raw inside. The manager came over to give me my steak but was very dismissive. Worst $80 we have ever spent. Avoid at all cost, don't waste your time or money.

So after calling and putting my name on the list so we wouldn't have to wait the typical hour wait time, we arrive at the restaurant on time to which I stated only to find out that they gave my table to someone else. The only reason I called ahead was for my nieces birthday which I mentioned on the phone and at the time of arrival. They did find us a table right away but it was right by the kitchen, take out station and servers station. Awful table!! Next was the ten minute wait to actually get a drink, adult menus were given at the time we were sat however clearly with 2 children these menus took a further 10 minutes after placing our drink order. Food came out at a reasonable rate however the shrimp I ordered was cold, first there were five which I returned but only 4 came back in a "new" order. Once the meal was finished I was expecting a happy birthday song for my 9 yo niece but they simply bought the check!! All that was left was to get up and go!! The whole experience was so disappointing and now I will not return to this location!! All the manager had to say was I will look into it!! Well that response made it 100% clear I wasn't returning!! Awful, awful, Awful!!!

Reasonable wait, excellent and attentive service all around, great food. The Outback near our home has gone downhill over the years. This experience renewed our confidence in Outback Steak Houses. Well done!

I have visited this location numerous times over the last few years. The service has always been good, no complaints. Different cooks/chefs seem to have different interpretations of what "medium" is as far as steak doneness. However, the steaks have always been good...just sometimes better than others. My only real complaint of late are the sides and salads have become skimpy, and the quality of the sides is not consistent...brown and/or limp lettuce in the salads and overcooked and over salted sides. Still a decent place for a decent steak given the limited dining options in the immediate area.

This location is really giving some bad rep to this place. We go to an Outback up north while visiting family, all the time, and love it over there!!! But this one??? I guess this is an example of very very poor management and the result of it is obvious- the customers are suffering. Been in Tampa for 13 Years now, and this used to be our favorite restaurant, because they do have an amazing menu, IF done right. Steak used to be great... not anymore, get it wrong a lot of times. Salads gone bad too, just lots of problems all around. Service gotten worse, slower, got orders mixed up a few times, and for large parties, which is a huge inconvenience time wise. Got drinks spilled a couple of times, one time on my husband, and there were no remorse what so ever from the waitress and the restaurant didn't take care of it in any way, could've at least give a free dish, let alone a meal, but nope, nothing. Not sure what's gone wrong here, if its management alone, but were are staying away from this place from now on. One star only for the menu, which is really good when done right, and we know it can be done right, so I guess for old time sake

Not impressed with this location at All. Usually the hostess will open the main door to great us , but not here. Server response time to great us was over 5 min. No silverware , we had to grab our own set since Ashley was missing since our drinks were dropped off. Floors dirty & tables were empty so no excuse for not keeping things tidy ! At least the manger came by twice to talk to us.

Less than stellar food today. Usually my sons favorite place but the food today was just simply pitiful and the service worse. Lobster tail was served with 2 sidecars of congealed butter and the actual tail was less than warm. Prime rib does not resemble the flavor expected of prime rib at all. Server was completely lame and manager never bothered to come to the table to see what was going on. Pretty much a crappy father/son dinner

We ate at the Outback this evening and I must say my complaint is with the menu. I want to be clear and say this is not a knock on every experience I have had at outback, frankly this was the first time I was disappointed. We went for the all you can eat shrimp, while the meal was acceptable the portions were not. I have never had the feeling that a corporation was trying to just get my money in return for nothing. The portions were so small (a handful) at best, that I felt like they were just taking my money. Now for the ones who will say "we'll it's all you can eat so what the problem" I say to them go eat there and order this meal. I felt bad for the waiter, who was excellent by the way. He would set a drink coaster dish down with 6 to 8 shrimp and we would immediately have to ask for more. They (Outback) were clearly trying to discourage you from eating all you wanted. The shrimp were the size of a dime. This is not a honorable way to do business. I truly felt as if they were taking my money for nothing. At $15.00 per person I would appreciate a portion I could eat without having to wait 10 minutes between meals. I realize it is easy to kick a dog when he is down and for the most part Outback hits it out of the park but on this one I think a "Shame on you" is in order. Taking people's money for nothing is bad business and very dishonorable.

Outback is Outback, but this is one of the better ones. They deal with food allergies real well, and the service is excellent. We have always had fun there, and we frequent the place quite often. Highly recommended. If possible, sit in Jeremy's section. 3/1/2012.

This is the third time I have attempted to eat at this location. This time was no exception to being extremely disappointing. Red Flag Number 1: Hostess greets with us with, "Would you like to sit in the bar area. It is first come first serve"? Look around ...no one is waiting therefore why would I want to sit in the bar area? I don't drink. Red Flag Number 2: It takes our waiter Brent 10 minutes to approach our table to take our beverage order. Once we receive our drinks the Sprite taste like tonic. Yuck. Bread was actually warm and delicious (a first). Brent finally meanders over and takes our order. Easy: Two sirloins without seasoning. One medium --- the other medium well. Simple right? (Keep in mind this place is not busy). Red Flag Number 3: 35 minutes go by.... zzzzzzzzzz. My iced tea has not seen a refill since it was placed on our table. When our steaks arrived ... I kid you not ... I have seen shoe leather that looked better. Well done would be an understatement!! I attempted to put my fork in it and literally could not pierce it. The manager Michelle embarrassingly tried to make it right by offering to pay for my daughter's steak but after being there for almost an hour for lunch .. we lost that hunger feeling. I love Outback, but will never ever eat at this location again. Three strikes and your out!

Just a place to eat a inferior meal...highway food with lousy service. Outback use to be ok this location is full of disappointments! Read my tip! Sad it has been consistent with food and service, will not return..

Their food is so tasty. Steaks cooked to perfection. Their ahi tuna is delicious. Clam chowder is the best in the area. Their ceasar salad is also the best.

Have not been to Outback for quite a while. I took my family this afternoon and I was very disappointed. The stakes were like something you would get at Waffle House. The service was slow even though it wasn't busy. I will not be going back.....

A family favorite to this day. We hold bdays here and family get togethers. The food is always cooked right, the bloomin onion is a favorite, and wait staff does very good with large groups.

My family and I have been going to this location for the past 10 years and have had some bad minor experiences and some really great ones. I would normally shrug this off but this time I became ill from the food and should let it be known. The other night (8-12-2011) we went here with friends and out of 6 orders (4 adult 2 children) all 4 adult orders were wrong and had to be sent back as well as 1 appetizer was completely the wrong item. The food was nowhere near as good as what we have had in the past and was either overcooked or just tasted bad. I ordered the house salad with blue cheese dressing and something tasted a little off, I should have known better than to take more than a few bites but I did and became ill within an hour or so - I didn't keep track of the time but I left this Outback feeling very sick, which ruined our evening plans with our friends. I completely understand these things can happen, but they shouldn't. The manager was know where to be seen and our waiter rarely showed up, we had to ask other staff members for assistance. I hope this was just an anomaly but based on other tables that night, it seemed to be very common.

We had a gift card that we decided to use it here and try since we have never been here before. I ordered the Pork Chops which were delicious. My wife ordered the steak, also delicious. The service was outstanding and the atmosphere was friendly. I'm glad we tried it and we'll go back.

Huge fan of Outback. I have never had a bad meal here. On this trip I got the Ahi tuna app as my meal. I ordered the small but next time will get the large for sure - the small just wasn't enough to count as my meal. It was delicious though.

We did online ordering and pick-up, The process online was flawless and the order was accurate when we picked it up. The food was fresh and wonderful. The steak was medium as ordered with a delicious blue cheese crust. The cheery cokes we also ordered were ready as soon as we pulled up and paid with our credit card.

Been there 3 times but the waiting time sucks. You have to wait and hour. I was thinking of going publix, buy a steak and do it George Foreman grill.
