Fun place and the fried green tomatoes were very good. Had the chicken Caesar salad and can only give it a 2. There was Parmesan cheese but it had no flavor. The dressing also was mostly flavorless and the romaine had been around awhile. The view is lovely and I took the opportunity to try a hard apple cider which was served icy cold in a frozen glass. That was nice. Burgers looked good. I'll go back with guests.

Great Atmosphere with a great view! We traveled and hour and a half to celebrate a 90th birthday. They were accommodating to our party. Courtney our server was fantastic, extremely polite and efficient and especially sweet to great grandma ! Fried green tomatoes were great. Shrimp and grits Delish. Catfish PO Boy seasoning so good. Coke products mix on point. Will definitely be back. .

  • Rob S.

The food here is very tasty. All of the Po Boys sandwiches are good and so is the mahi mahi sandwich. Be sure to get the cheese grits as a side dish. Be aware: The wait can be between an hour and an hour and a half on weekends. Live music at the downstairs bar.

Party of 9 on Labor Day weekend. Called ahead and we're seated within a few minutes after arriving. Dined upstairs as they run a different menu (not bar basics like the beach bar menu downstairs). Many had shrimp & grits. I had a bronzed redfish dish that was amazing. Everyone raved about the grits so I ordered a side and was very happy with the quality. Peel & eat shrimp were overcooked - other than that all dishes were devoured. Not as busy as I would have expected on a holiday weekend. Our server Julie was on point. Didn't miss a beat and took the time to learn our names as well as getting them right even after a seating arrangement change. This was our second visit here. First was during Memorial Day and the place was packed and we were forced to eat downstairs which is great if you want to party. Not a great dining experience, but we always do second chances and we are glad we did!

The view is amazing, the service is absolutely horrible. The server downstairs literally waited on one table at a time on a busy Sunday, and in the main area, our server Jessica didn't serve me for 15 minutes when I got to the table, and didn't even acknowledge me, even with an empty drink. Furthermore, our dad wanted a coozie as we walked out the door and he picked up the car, and my husband and I waited 10 minutes for someone to help us. Extremely disappointing service as the atmosphere was great.

  • Alison T.

I really liked the atmosphere here. It makes you feel like you're actually at the beach. The service and food were great! I'll definitely be back to try other things like their fried green tomatoes

Our party of 8 arrived around 4:30 pm on a Sunday and had no wait; I would imagine that the dinner hour is more crowded. The shrimp & grits, Spanish catfish, and grilled mahi were all very tasty. The Cajun sweet fried chicken was dry. Some people thought the andouille sausage was spicy; others didn't. The price on the 21 oz beer includes the souvenir glass. You can also order a 16 oz beer without the glass for a better price. Our server Courtney was very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. We'll be back.

Ate there a few times and the food is over priced and not nearly that good and parking is to tight. Lots of non eaters at the beach. Went for last time today, four tables eating five waitresses standing by the counter yet no one ever waited on us, we waited long enough to know before we ordered service is horrible.

Best oyster Po Boy ever ! The bbq shrimp I begged the waitress for the recipe lol. Been here twice when I visit Florida yearly. The place is always busy. So call ahead. Great view and atmosphere. Will be back again this winter.

I've never had a bad meal! Love the BarBQue shrimp as an appetizer and the Spanish catfish is fresh and delicious! We love the atmosphere and live music....always a fun time!

After hearing about this restaurant I was finally able to visit. We arrived extra early as my family says it's usually packed! They said on any given night at 7:00 there is a 2 hour wait! Being that they have 3 parking lots....possibly more but that's what I saw... I believe this place gets busy! Awaiting for the time to catch up to opening time we took a walk down the a dock that went over a beach.... And half way down they had a hut like covering that had lights and a couple of tables. If you continued down you would get to the boat dock. Heading back I was told stories and that at night they being out a big bin fire on the beach for everyone to enjoy. They have a more laid back restaurant downstairs that they open the garage doors for enjoyment. We went back upstairs and they were happy to sit us even though we were a few min early. Our orders were taken and the waitress was super nice. My aunt made a comment that she was their waitress last time and she politely responded with yes I remember, even if she didn't it was believe able! The fish of the day was grouper and could be blackened, fried or grilled. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and opted for provolone instead of Swiss. Everyone else at the table for the pulled pork sand which. Each sandwich came with shoestring fries and coleslaw. The chicken sand which came out and the chicken was longer than the sandwich and was so delish. The apple smoked bacon was a great addition. It had so much flavour I didn't need to add any sauces. Everyone also loved their pork sandwiches. It was all devoured as there was no sandwiches left!! Will be coming back!

Great place to eat/drink with a view! Sat outside in the screened in patio. HIGHLY recommend the fried green tomatoes, shrimp creole, and orange cake for dessert!

My Spanish cat fish was oily and over breaded, obviously came right out of a freezer. The entire meal was boring and over priced. Never to return.

Fun location right on the lake, with frequent beach volleyball tournaments and white sand beach area to enjoy. We observed several sea planes landing and taking off which was cool. Very busy on weekends, especially in good weather. Due to being so busy, there was an hour plus wait for upstairs restaurant tables. We finally got a table downstairs in the bar. A server-side fairly quickly to take our order. We enjoyed live music during the very long wait for drinks and longer wait for limited menu food (we're talking easy stuff like hotdogs, brats and Cesar salad!) We later found out they will accept calls in advance to put your name on the wait list so we'll do that next time. Hopefully service upstairs is better.

The food, music, scenery and atmosphere I divine; it feels like I'm back in Tampa having dinner on the beach. I really enjoyed my time here. There's live music and a beautiful dock to go walk on. The service is a hit it or miss; the first time I went we got service immediately at the seat - yourself section but the second time it took at least 20 minutes for someone to come take a drink order. The prices are a little up there and the mixed drinks aren't that good but the food makes up for it. I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend or take a large group there.

  • Kim S.

This place is perfect for the lake front. There is plenty of seating in the bar and dining room with choices. There is seating overlooking the lake and inside seating. My husband ordered the Bayou Pasta and I ordered the shrimp and grits. Both were packed with flavor and had a generous portion. It was not busy but that's because we visited on a Monday early afternoon. Our server was friendly and kept our drinks full.

My family was in town for easter so we decided to go to eatins restsurant for our second time. We called ahead and when we arrived on a Monday evening we got seated quickly. We sat against a wall by the kitchen first sign of a not very good experience, my husband got the special grouper...it was not good at all completely fishy taste. Turned out its not grouper season in Florida so either this was frozen fish or came from another area but needless to say not fresh.. Our waitress had 5 more tables on the outside area and it would take her a long time to tend to us... I got the shrimp and grits. I loved it the first time I was here but this time it was kind of cold and not as good at all...there was nine of us. We had all been there before and everyone was kind of disappointed with their meals...I though the service was not good and I'm not sure I would give this place another try or not.

First time at this lake beachfront restaurant in Weirsdale, FL. Went there with another couple that have been here a few times. We called ahead for a table and was surprised when we arrived and the place was packed. This was on a Sunday afternoon. The other couple told us it's always crowded. It was a great idea to call ahead because we only waited for about 5 mins for a table outside with a lake view (exactly what we asked for). Great service from George. We started with drinks and a couple of appetizers (peel and eat shrimp & fried green tomatoes) which were delicious. Moved on to the main course. I had the shrimp creole with just enough heat to make it interesting. Our group sampled each other's selection and no one was disappointed. Looking forward to my next visit so I can try a few of the other menu items. Don't be afraid to sit outside if it looks rain. We had a downpour but stayed dry with the rain curtains they have on the deck. Enjoyed watching the boats go by the restaurant pulling the tubers. Definitely on my return list.

A group of friends suggested Eaton Beach for lunch. The menu was very limited so I ordered their specialty hamburger. Every person in our group received stone cold burgers that had not seen a trace of heat in hours. Apparently they cook up burger patties in the morning and load a pan full to dish out on a cheap bun to order. Very low quality. A road side hot dog cart, McDonalds, or Burger King would be way better food quality. The view of the sandy beach is nice overlooking Lake Weir.

Terrible. Bad service, bad food, long wait, greasy. The manager doesn't know her job and is in way over her head. Wait to be seated for almost an hour and 45 minutes. Finally walked up to desk and they "overlooked" me. If you want to be seated you have to bother them, remind them, and stare them down. Too friction crowded with old people from the Villages and they hire really young kids as servers that could could give a crap about anything. Why dear god would I ever go back there again.....I wouldn't. Come on managers, learn how do do your jobs.

Wait staff very helpful - neat place - great view in the daytime - went on a chilly night and that had an impact. Food came quickly but was Luke warm. Will try again.

Holy cow.....the shrimp and grits are just as good as mine ;) It was so nice to start with fried green tomatoes, Sangria, and then the shrimp and grits were to die for. The place brings the perfect beach vibe, with a perfect sandy shore and great water views.

My wife and I went here at 1:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon. As we pulled in we noticed a small parking lot near the building and another at the side and all where full. We followed a couple coming out like you would at Christmas at the mall and snatched their spot. The place was crowded but the restaurant seemed to handle it well. We were told it would only be a 10 minute wait, which surprised me, or we could sit outside on the deck, we chose the deck. It had multiple fans to handle the heat and a beautiful view of the lake and beach activities, definitely the right choice. The menu was a step above typical "grill" fare with several novel sandwiches and plates that all looked great, My wife and I wanted to split a Muffaletta sandwich because they seemed to have what they coined as "Florisiana" favorites like Shrimp and Grits, Chicken and Waffles and Bayou Pasta plus many others. The sandwich was fantastic and service was quick and friendly. The bar itself is a must see place as a total water and sand extravaganza, great place and a lot of fun! Also had a band downstairs where the true bar area is, right off the beach. Note: We found another parking lot down the road a piece that had a six passenger golf cart shuttle to take you back and forth!

Went on Sunday afternoon to eat with 7 friends. We waited about 45 minutes after calling ahead 30 minutes prior to arriving. Service was good and got a table with a nice water view. Food was good but can be expensive. Drinks are priced higher than normal. Draft beer 5.50. Had the signature dish of Shrimp and Grits at $15. Large portion served with a wonderful FAT FAT creamy smooth sauce over grits and shrimp. Boy was it good but I am going to need to work it off over the next few days. Other dishes in the group included shrimp creole, pastrami dish, crawfish cake. All were good according to others but not great. Nice experience IF you go when crowds are not there. Wait times can be 2 hours. Another point--the bar tenders were busy but in my view wanted to wait on their friends. I finally gave up and left the bar without a drink. Will go again only for lunch in low season. This is a place for an occasional visit. Too much hassle in getting a table just for normal dining.

Beautiful location with two dining choices. The main dining room is where you can enjoy their "Florisiana" food they've made so famous. CALL AHEAD SEATING... it doesn't mean a reservation, but it means you'll wait less. My favorites are the Cajun Sweet Fried chicken and the Back Porch Lemonade (adult beverage). It's crowded here for a reason; it's worth it! Ask for Carrie, Stacy or Tracy, they are worth the wait too! Downstairs is the Sandbar. A great place to not be in a hurry. It's a different, convenience menu; it's not meant to be gourmet. (I'd recommend drinks downstairs while you wait to eat upstairs) Great if you're chillin on the white sandy beach or listening to the local musicians. A few kinks to work out, but this is an alternative choice to dine. First come, first serve or walk up and order. Bartenders are good, and make delicious drinks. Kimmie will always give you a smile. So enjoy. It's busiest when the snowbirds are in full force. May thru September are quieter.

I'll make it short n sweet til the next time we visit. The outside restaurant deck is an awesome place to have lunch, overlooking Lake Weir with a rather pleasant breeze. Sadly, the day we went, the sky opened up in an effort to swallow the planet...or so it seemed. Still, the plastic curtains were secured in place, we stayed relatively dry, and watched an incredible lightning show! The Bloody Mary was decent, with a nice celery-slim jim-etc flag The Spanish catfish was delish: crisp, flaky, fresh and tasty. Our server was very pleasant and handled the separate checks with a smile. Biker friendly! Theres a more casual lower area, which we did not visit, which apparently serves lighter fare outdoors. Parking can be tricky, but they'll golf cart you in from the adjacent parking lot as required.

Service has always been hit or miss. Food is okay. Nothing to get overly excited over. The actual restaurant was built first class. Very unique interior and exterior. I just wish the service and food had a little more umph for the $$ you pay. I only visit because it's close by to my home and I really like the location.

My parents have been raving about this place for a while now! My husband and I finally got the chance to join them there for a Saturday evening dinner. We didn't get there until about 8:45, so we figured we'd have a short wait. We were told 15-20 minutes, but the hostess assured us it wouldn't be long. So we went down by the water to relax while waiting, after a while we made our way back upstairs to wait outside. All in all we waited at least 30 minutes, seeing people come out but never getting paged. I wasn't keeping an eye on the time at all, but we knew we had waited way too long. My mom then went in and the hostess told her they had paged us 20 min earlier! Well, this seemed strange because our buzzer never went off (sure, we can blame that on a tech issue) but you'd think they'd want the buzzer back. So, they paged only once and never wondered why we didn't come back in with the buzzer? Or when it's not slammed, you can't take 2 seconds to come out and call the person's name? It was very strange, and honestly I feel like we were just forgotten about. Luckily, once we finally got seated our waiter was very nice and the food was good as well! Though, I'd suggest not saying "Good luck finishing that" and "I knew you wouldn't be able to finish that" about the mac and cheese meal. Can definitely make people feel very awkward - especially if they came close to finishing it! All in all, it's a beautiful view with decent food that I would be willing to give another shot for sure, especially because my mom kept insisting that the experience was something they've never dealt with and they've been there at least 7 times! But for myself, and for others, I'd definitely recommend really keeping an eye on the time you're waiting and checking in with the hostess if you feel you've waited longer than told.

Went for lunch. Very good no wait for a table. Shrimp with blaya rice and succotash were excellent. Frozen strawberry drinks were bland. Draft beer was fresh. Looked like a fun place to play beach volleyball and party with a group. Water was pretty green and questionable for swimming. Docks were available to stop while boating. Hidden secret on Lake Weir. Short drive from the Villages. A real asset to the area.

We called ahead and arrived before noon on a Sunday however in order to get a seat overlooking the beach we had to wait over 20 mins. My husbands Bayou pasta was great according to him (I didn't sample as I don't like seafood). I ordered a medium rare burger and as I got into eating it, I noticed that it was well done. It was too late to send it back, and the place was mobbed. The wife of the other couple ordered a well done burger, and her burger was totally dried out to the point that she didn't want to eat it. On another note, I ordered sauted mushrooms and onions to go with my burger and when I got my bill I was charged $3.99 each! Our server told me when I questioned him that it was $3.99 for mushrooms, and $3.99 for onions. He was kind enough to remove one of the charges, however I think that charging that amount is more than I have ever seen anywhere. Glancing at the menu it is easy to see how one would think that it is a combo of mushrooms and onions together for $3.99. Another thing is, the guys really enjoyed their gumbo. Not sure if we would go back as their specialty is seafood, and I don't eat anything but haddock and the big scallops (coming from New England). It was a nice experience though.

What a great spot----looking over beautiful lake Weir. They have great food too. We were there for lunch. We shared a smoked fish appetizer and it was excellent. I ordered the smoked pastrami plate and it was delicious. It was a large serving of thick cut meat, tender and tasty. I got some excellent coleslaw instead of the mashed potatoes and it was very good too. My wife then had a the vegetable soup of the day and loved it. One of our friends got the shrimp and grits and raved about it. Overall an exceptional lunch and Martina P was the best of the best as our server.

We arrived at 6:30 pm on a Saturday night. We were told it would be about a two hour wait. We hung around the bar and got a couple of seats in about a half an hour. I had a cup of gumbo and shrimp and grits. My wife had the fillet with dirty rice and succotash. The gumbo was marvelous, every bit as good as I've had in the crescent city. My shrimp and grits was loaded with a rich creamy sauce, which somewhat overpowered the shrimp, grits and bacon. It was perfect temperature and very tasty. My partner said that her fillet was very tender and delicious. We were too full to try the desserts, but they sounded great. Ah well next time.

Really nice lake side bar and restaurant. The menu has a bunch of nice southern options and the drinks are good. Very busy but servers are cheery so it's not too bad.

A place in the middle of nowhere with very good Florida/Cajun dishes. My dining companion found the house pastrami smokey, a bit sweet and melt-in-your mouth tender. I found the andouille sausage tender, pleasingly lighter than most with plenty of nip. Service is friendly and timely.

Wow this is not the old Eaton's beach! The service is great and the lake view makes for a nice atmosphere. The food was great quality for the price. The only complaint was the small bits of chicken in my pasta dish were quite overcooked.

I've been hearing about this place and as I can see it from another restaurant i frequent a lot, across the lake, I resolved to give it a try. As I drove up I was impressed with the grounds and location, very nice and new. Beach looked awesome and parking was easy. Interior was very nice and i could tell they were very busy. I got in line behind a couple at the hostess stand and waited.....and waited...and waited. Even though there appeared to be a lot of staff around, no one even came by and acknowledged our existence. A simple. "be right with you" would have been nice. Finally an employee motioned me over to the gift sales counter and started to assist me and the other couple. As she was talking with us, another employee, maybe a manger interrupted us, without an "excuse me" or nothing and unfortunately, the first employee proceeded to ignore us, right in the middle of a sentence. I turned around and walked out. I also noticed a number of other people walking back to their cars refusing to wait any longer. I hear the food is very good. But I will never find out. The whole lot needs to take a restaurant 101 class, starting with customer service! If you go, get reservations, if they are available.

Food and atmosphere were great. Get the pastrami dinner it is crazy good. Service was horrible and inattentive and i think it's from lack of training and lack of policy and procedure.

WOW! I have to say much better than we anticipated. My partner's folks wanted to take us here so off we went. I had the Chicken and Waffles, fantastic! My partner and step mom each had the Hot Pastrami Sandwich.......unbelievable! These sandwiches were jaw droppingly delicious, butter soft, and the portion was incredible. My partner's dad had the Mahi sandwich equally as good. Mahi is not my goto fish yet I will order this upon another return. The atmosphere is a little stark inside the main dining area but still well done. I must say if you are in the area stop in you will not be sorry.

Finally able to get in and enjoy this place (December) as we were part of a vendor's Christmas dinner (FREE food, YIPPEE!). We started downstairs at the open bar while everyone was getting there. The weather was perfect, about 72, sun was setting and the cute barmaid poured me a VERY generous glass of Irish. Once we proceeded upstairs, the experience got even better. When this place first opened, we tried numerous times to get in but, being new and near The Villages, it was ALWAYS packed, so we always wound up at Gator Joe's across the lake. Expecting it to be similar, we were pleasantly surprised by the menu selections - not your basic burger and fries place at all! I liked the fried green tomatoes and the mussels appetizers (we had a large crowd and numerous apps on the table) and the Cajun sweet fried chicken as an entree. CRISPY and delicious (those who read my reviews know my scorn for fried chicken that isn't crispy). The shrimp and grits got rave reviews by those who enjoyed that entree as did the redfish and salmon. Only 4 stars at the moment because there's too many I want to try before giving it 5. I would DEFINITELY make a reservation to avoid a LONG wait (well, unless you like to sit and talk to pretty barmaids at the open downstairs bar!)

Best cajun I have had out side of Louisiana and I'm picky. I had the wash day meal with and andouille sausage and it was amazing. Fried chicken and mash potatoes was also great. It's a casual place but it's full of retired people dressed nicely. Great view by the lake.

Apparently, this place was originally founded by a race cyclist from New Jersey. It would be a nice stopping point on a cycle route that circumnavigated the lake. We stopped in for Sunday brunch. The ambience of his place is the best in central Florida: a large, naturally lit dining area opens, if weather permits, to a generous deck, and all seats have a great view of Lake Weir. There's docks for boats to stop and tie up for awhile, there's a dock for walking, there's an indoor-outdoor bar area....just a perfectly designed facility for this location: brand new everything. Of the one meal I have had there, I can testify to the deliciousness of the orange cake--just light enough and fresh enough to be perfect. I also had a salad, which was in an interesting bowl, but I am not a fan of great hunks of iceberg, so I ended up eating maybe half of it--all the salmon, nuts, onions, leaving half the lettuce--right? My partner had a sandwich and seemed satisfied. The most gorgeous place to sit and enjoy something to eat in the region, for sure. i intend to go back, and I have been telling people about it--also, as the horse show season gets underway and folks start residing for awhile at Grand Oaks, this place is a strong contender for favorite, instead of some of the slummy places in the Villages

What a wonderful find! Great views of the lake and shore lines. I cannot think of a better place for drinks, good meal and sunset. It is early December and they have been open for just over a month. Indoor/outdoor seating, and the menu has a good variety from start to finish. The wait staff was attentive and service was prompt. My new fav to take guests. My only suggestion would be to ensure the staff leave their perfumes in their bottles while at work.

I have been here several times and the food was great. Today the Shrimp & Grits looked dried out and I had to search for the shrimp. I should of sent it back, but I didn't. The Bloody Mary was very good. Beautiful day on the lake.

I have been twice and was not impressed either time. The outside dining area is first come first served. To get a table, you have to wait quite a while and hover over other people to ensure you can grab their table when they leave. The service was also slow and the food was not worth the wait. My tuna sandwich was just okay, but my daughter ordered the hamburger and it was not edible. It was so overcooked I thought they had brought her a piece of charcoal. The drinks were overpriced and also not great. On top of all that- they do not recycle and guffawed at me when I asked if they had it for the plastic cups. I tried talking to the manager on the way out and he was the rudest person alive. The beach was beautiful and it's a great location, but we won't be going back because it was so awful.

This was a great place! Being from Chicago wanted a place to sit by the water. This was great. Sat outside and had a great view of the water. It was a Friday lunch and we only had a 15 min wait, just enough time to grab a great tasting Bloody Mary. The menu was different than I expected for a place like this. It's got a Louisiana twist to it. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was so yummy tasting! The fried chicken was also very good. Great flavor and juicy. I would highly recommend this place for the food and view.

Great atmosphere and really good food. The service was really good and, considering how crowded the restaurant was, the food came quickly. I had the red beans and sausage and my wife had the cajun shrimp, both were very good. I would recommend anybody wishing to go, go early.

Visited today, on a Sunday afternoon. Food was excellent, and we tried a lot of things on the menu. However the service was terrible. We waited one hour to be seated, one hour to get our food, and 20 minutes for ticket. And this wasn't a busy time, there were a lot of empty tables and a lot of staff that had nothing to do. Don't go unless you're good at dealing with frustration!
