Mr Manatee’s Casual Grille Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

This is for sure a casual dining experience. If you are looking for something low key, on the water, and not wanting to spend a bunch of bucks, then this is the place to go. We went on .39 cent wing night, Wednesday night. The wings were really good. I got the non breaded wings which were better than the breaded wings. So if your looking for some casual dining (nothing fancy) go here.

Mr. Manatees has been in my life for over 15 years. Sadly, the one in my town closed and now I have to trek 30 minutes south to relive my childhood. The menu has changed some but the food is still awesome. Much of it is fried but you can get some of the sandwiches grilled or blackened. It's good, fresh seafood with a relaxed feel. They have a good happy hour where some menu items are half price. Nice view of the marina. Very clean and good service.

Met with some relatives and really tied up a table for too long. But got good and very pleasant service. Food was very good and prices reasonable. Would recommend.

I went in a large group and we pretty much just tried all the appetizers and drank some beer. The food was excellent, and our server was very good with us. I recommend it as a meeting place, just call and get the back room reserved.

It was my first time here and luckily it was a Friday. Fridays they have all you can eat fried shrimp with fries and cole slaw for $15.99 very delicious. The customer service needs improvement though!

I came here because they had oysters. Unfortunately the oysters were not very fresh and slimy, and were returned. I ordered the steamed clams and cod taco, very good and light. Only two stars due to the oysters, but very friendly staff and the cooked food is delicious.

Pretty underwhelmed. My Mom is living in Vero now and heard that this was a good restaurant. We went for dinner with a group of 8. Had very good service but the food was meh. I had a burger since none of the fish options looked interesting to me. Got super sick over night and think that it was dinner. I'd find somewhere else to eat in Vero.

Went with a party of 4, Sunday night place half full. Service fair, food average at best. My fish over cooked, no flavor and I believe it was frozen. In my opinion pricey for the quality of food.I would not return, many better places in the area.

I went to Vero Beach for the first time this weekend to visit a friend. When I got to town I told him I'd like something local and I'd like seafood. Mr Manatee's was close by so he suggested it. The place was quirky and something you'd expect to see in a coastal town. I wasn't sure what to order, so I went with the COMBINATION BASKET which had cracked conch, shrimp, and clam strips. It came with fries and cole slaw, but I was able to switch out the cole slaw for steamed veggies. The basket wasn't anything super special, but it was hot and tasty. It was the perfect start to my mini-vacation! The restaurant was clean and the service was good. They weren't super busy, but it was after 8 pm when we got there. All in all I enjoyed my experience.

Service is great. Food is good. A nice place to bring friends and show them southern hospitality

  • Jeff K.

Start off with slow service, overpriced frozen mahi, $4.25 domestic beer, under cooked wings, had to send back, small oysters blah blah blah. Will not return or recommend......

It's Vero's basic bitch that everyone knows. It's actually amazing with great staff. Vero loves Mr Manatees! =)

Good bar food and nice views. Love to eat near the water. Most everything is fried and battered though. Be nice to see some variety.

Amazing service here at Mr. Manatee's. It's better than Docksider Grille and Lobster Shanty. When you come in you ait, order, get the food and your out. Natalay was our server. Cheerful and attentive. I love Mr. Manatee's and I wish for a water

Went on burger night which is on Mondays. Burgers were great and cooked perfectly. Burgers come with fries or coleslaw for $5. Unfortunately I Started out with a cup of lobster bisque which was AWFUL!!! Too salty and had a weird grainy texture. Yuk. Will be back for burgers, though.

We have visited vero beach at least once a year for at least 20 years. I think that we stop at manatees at lease once, twice or more per visit. We keep going back because: The food is always as expected.....good The service Is always good or excellent The value is always good Great place for a casual dinner or lunch Good job to the Mantees staff. We'll be back 5 stars

Great new happy hour all week long as well as a brand new menu featuring a variety of fresh fish, platters, sandwiches, salads, and burgers!! Must check it all out, you will love it!

Very average. Server was new, but tried hard. One of our guests was a PITA and had her jumping through hoops. It wasn't crowded, food was very slow coming out. Nothing wrong per se, just utterly unimpressive. Wouldn't go again.

Nice Sunday afternoon dinner. Waitress was a nice young lady who was very helpful. We shared the conch as an appetizer.nice, lightly breaded, similar to calamari. I had coconut shrimp and they were done properly, crispy and slightly sweet with cole slaw and fries. Decent portions and tasty. My husband had blackened, grilled Mahi Mahi sand which and he enjoyed it as well

  • Stephanie D.

No. Don't do it. Waste of a meal in Vero! Conch in fritters - super hard. Fried seafood platter - everything tasted mass produced. Sad we wasted our last meal here

The restaurant was recommended by a local and it was great fast service and the food was was really good. Good stop for lunch or dinner

  • Harvey K.

Staff was excellent even though the place was crowded record amount of oysters eaten, set this night. Yes the record 110 oysters and they never stoped schucking. The loser stopped at 80. Yes what a night oh yes I almost forgot 2 dollar rolling rock... Yippee

  • The D.

Very inexperienced slow service. 18 year olds at first jobs. Portions on the sandwiches are pathetic. Tiny slice of fish that is smaller than the tomato. Total RIP OFF!!!!!!!

  • Tom C.

Limited menu based on the theming. Their specials, though, are really good (oysters, etc.) Service is hit or miss since they regularly change server staff. Recommendation: get the fried shrimp.

Been coming here for several years as we visit Vero annually. The menu has changed a little bit but they still have some nice favorites. Fresh fish is a staple, as is the raw bar (oysters). Nice selection if fried seafood too, plus sandwiches--which is a nice option as the entree prices have increased over time. Dessert favorite is the orange sunshine cake. Only four stars as the prices have really gone up over the years.

Great prices! Great food! The onion crusted mahi mahi sandwich and mixed grill entree are amazing!

  • Chad I.

Great casual dining. For happy hour, you can't beat their appetizer and domestic beer prices. I had calamari and crab legs, and the food was great! Excellent service for my experience as well. I will go to again when visiting Vero. Overall a nice casual place.

I've been coming to Mr. Manatee's for years with mixed experiences, but this review will be about one specific recent experience. A family friend recently passed away, and we wanted to have a gathering of sorts after the funeral. Of course, we wanted to celebrate life, and find a casual, comfortable, happy place within everyone's budget. Mr. Manatee's was convenient, more than willing to take our large group, and told us "not to worry - we'll have everything you need." Well, the service was much faster than we had expected - we were almost two hours earlier than we planned. Mr. Manatee's adapted flawlessly! We arrived with our entourage to trays and trays of piping hot, delicious appetizers. The servers were attentive, and quick with our beverages (including alcoholic, of course.) We were sat in the patio with lots of tables pushed together. Plenty of room for everyone, and a nice view of the water (and parking lot.) Mr. Manatee's made a solemn day into a pleasant one, and for that, we were very appreciative. :)

Not too bad, they are now owned by the same folks who own Jack Bakers and that place has gone down-hill so I was a bit nervous but all-in-all not bad. Casual dining, good seafood and good service.

We ate at Mr Manatees on a Thursday my husband and I both ordered an appetizer off the specials I got 1/2 lb steamed shrimp for $4.95 and he got 1 lb of steamed clams for about the same for our meals we got the combination basket with bay scallops, oyster strips and shrimp and I got the chicken Alfredo. We also got key lime pie for dessert. Everything was great and very reasonably priced compared to other restaurants nearby. Service was good and nice atmosphere! We will definitely be returning on our next trip!

I LOVE going to Mr. Manatees. It transports me to my favorite vacation spot. And while not as "upscale" as the Lobster Shanty down the road, I actually prefer the food here. I love getting a good fish sandwich, or anything seafood. I don't always eat seafood, but I trust it here. The servers are friendly and attentive, and everything about this place is FUN. Also, the florida orange cake makes me feel like a FLORIDA native.

  • Ana B.

Overpriced. Ordered coconut shrimp basket, obvious it's the frozen kind, not fresh. Burger flavor was good but it had a piece of cartilage in it, not the best feeling when bitting into meat. Waitress brought back refills, confused lemonade for water. Won't be coming back anytime soon.

We ended up here on the recommendation of the concierge at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. She suggested three casual seafood places and we headed here because my daughter thought the name was "cool". Well...not the best reason to pick a restaurant. The prices were reasonable, but the portions were small! Every one of us commented that we were still hungry after the meal was finished. I ordered the fried shrimp basket and the shrimp was mediocre. Honestly, it was no different than any frozen shrimp one could get in Ohio! The kid's meals were priced right...so it's hard to complain at 3.25 each. However, my husbands 11.00 panini only came with cole slaw (or fries---but not both) and, while he said it was good, didn't look like an 11 dollar sandwich. We waited awhile to be seated, we waited a longer while to be served, and when we were done....we waited (and waited and waited) to finally settle the bill. Then we went for ice cream elsewhere! Would I return, no.......was it miserable.....no! But there are better places to find seafood!

Go for the oyster special and the early apps and the drinks special. Nice place great service. Always crowded. The seafood chowder is excellent. Wings are great. Steak tips and tuna are very nice.

Great food. Casual atmosphere. Had lunch. the chicken salad was divine. Our server was very attentive and good. I think her name was Dana. We also had shrimp cocktail and snow crab, along with fried shrimp and the fish tacos. The lightly breaded oysters were very good. I definitely would return here for lunch. It is a great beach town place with good food and great service.

Once upon a time, about 19 years ago, I was a server at Manatee's. I loved it then, and I'm STILL a fan. I'm shocked at the bad reviews that have been posted. I chalk it up to being the exception, and not the rule. I've never had a bad experience there. On a recent trip, I was alone and stopped in for lunch to kind of play "remember when", as this was where I met my late husband. I sat at the bar, and was told by my bartender that wings and appetizers were 50% off, and that all domestic drafts were $1.50. Are ya fucking kidding me? WIN. I wasn't terribly hungry, so I had a house salad with the peppercorn parm dressing (YUM), and an order of jalapeno poppers, (as they were always my favorite), and washed it all down with a couple of ice cold Yuengling drafts. I have to be honest, the poppers were nothing like the poppers of old. They were smaller, and the sauce was some kind of raspberry concoction. While it was tasty, it wasn't what I anticipated. The habanero sauce that they sell doesn't disappoint. Spicy hot, and delicious!

The service is good and the food is worth the price. It is very casual and reasonably priced. Great happy hour deals to. Wish they had actual outdoor seating on the water, but the porch was still nice. Would go again for a cheap but good meal.

This is a Vero Beach staple for my family. Most of us love seafood. It is a casual and reliable spot. I like anything they do with clams and oysters. The nightly specials - cheap oysters, wings, etc. are worth noting. (It would be nice if there were some vegetarian options for a certain trooper of a family member since we...ok I drag her here every visit.)

Went on a Tuesday for their oyster special and found out they had just raised prices from $.49 to $.59. Oysters were ok but rest of food was poor. Disappointed with the conch chowder. Remember it being better in past. The peel and eat shrimp were small and not good either. Will have to pass on future visits.

Not a bad place but if you're off the special menu you will be spending a bit. I am a fan of fish dip and love to try it where ever I go. For about $8.00 I was given a plastic souffle cup of their dip..........really? I would have rathered it be priced higher and given a decent portion than that. But there was some good too. Wing night with .49 wings was nice. $3.50 pitchers of PBR and very good service make it OK and worth checking out the other specials

whoa whoa whoa how did I forget to write a review for this beloved haunt? Mr. Manatee's is one of the greatest. My favorite spot to go in all of Flawridder. $0.39 Oyster night on Tuesdays. Get there early and have a dozen for me. I'll be back, Senor Manatee! Good hot wings too.

We went on a Monday night for the BOGO burger special. The meat was tender and had a good flavor. Our server Dana was great! Good meal and service. (Have to purchase a beverage to get special)

We come to Vero on vacation every year and we try to make it to Mr Manatee's each time we visit. Food is typical bar style, nothing special. I wouldnt go out of your way to come here, but if you're in the area it's a decent place to have lunch.

    (3)
  • Marie D.

I keep going here , very occasionally, because I know so many people that love it. I don't! Everything is fried, and its not hot and fresh fried, its just fried and greasy. The place is dark and while it was clean, it felt dingy. If I were going to just drink and eat bar food, this place would be awesome, maybe thats why all the good reviews. For people wanting a true taste of fresh seafood and typical Vero Beach fare, go elsewhere. You can get oysters in lots of better places around here.

I'm not sure what went wrong the night we went, but 3 of the 4 of us didn't even eat our food it was so bad. My daughter got the combination basket with scallops, shrimp, and clam strips. The shrimp were like salad shrimp, tiny and over battered. I got shrimp and chicken served with rice & beans, and broccoli...I ate the shrimp and quit (anyone who knows me knows it had to be bad since I don't skip meals!); my bf got the conch chowder, which was a horrible looking and tasting red disaster. My younger daughter got chicken fingers and fries. I will say the fries were good, according to my other daughter the slaw was good. We left $50 broker and still hungry! So I guess we just made bad choices.....NOT!

We had lunch a Mr Manatee's and it was very good. The atmosphere is that of a sports bar/restaurant so nothing fancy. Our waitress was very good and quick with the service. I had a cup of the grouper chowder that was to die for....you could stand the spoon up in the bowl there was so much grouper and the cheddar sauce was very thick. I could have made a lunch out of a bowl of this. To go with the soup I had a grilled grouper sandwich and it was also excellent. The fish was grilled to perfection and the tartar sauce that came with it was very tasty. My wife had the coconut shrimp that was also excellent. Along with good beer and wine this was a great place for lunch. We hear that it is very crowded at dinner time and the menu seemed to us to be more of a lunch type place so we will probably be back for another noontime meal.

Since I reviewed Mr Manatees, they have changed their menu and increased their prices. The food is nicely prepared, but the quantities have changed. Some dishes are overflowing , while others are not worth the increase in price. This has been one of our favorites, but that has changed and evrything considered, they should be 3 1/2 -4 stars.

The food here is just bad. Sorry, I know so many of the tourists love it but it really is. Fried or fried is your choice. Fried stuff with veggies drenched in oil, why is there oil on my veggies? It is just gross. I went last week b/c my daughter made honor roll and they gave her a free dinner certificate. I do appreciate the fact that they are supporting education but please hire a chef and stop using cooks.
