We just found out about this awesome restaurant and the food was fantastic. We will be back.

We decided to go for lunch yesterday and I have to tell you the food was fantastic! There was only 2 servers in the place and it's not small. But they were super attentive and made sure to keep checking in on us. Super friendly and great atmosphere. I had the fish burrito and my wife had the shrimp tacos. Both were amazing. We started off with the conch fritter and they are the best I've had so far! I would definitely recommend this place for lunch to anyone and will be going back!

Love the atmosphere. I have been there quite a few times and have had nicely fresh prepared food. The next time ordered the same thing and it wasn't nearly as good. Service is a little inconsistent as well, however overall a good experience.

When with my friends last night! Yummy food was very impressed! Angel hair onion rings were the best! Blackened Mahi sandwich was incredible!

I love coming to Fishack when I'm visiting my parents in Vero. On a recent visit, I thoroughly enjoyed my tuna tacos. I swapped out the fries for a salad (the fries are good, though), and asked for a side salad instead. Their crab ranch dressing is totally delicious. My husband enjoyed his oyster po boy, and my dieting dad gave his veggie wrap a 7 out of 10 (the wrap was tasty, but the vegetables needed to be drained more--"tasty but messy"). On my recent visit, I wasn't drinking beyond the tasty unsweetened tea my dad and I ordered. However, I've had great luck with their margaritas in the past--totally delicious. For the price, we really like fishack. Don't come here for a hot date or for the atmosphere--come for the cheap beers and the delicious tacos.

The Fishack is a funky beach-themed bar and restaurant featuring many varieties of seafood. The decor is mostly beach kitsch with lots of hand-painted details and some great murals. (The ladies room included!) We were in the neighborhood to visit the place next door and decided to stop in for a pre-drink beverage. After seeing some yummy food options delivered to others sitting at the bar we had a look at the menu and ordered the conch fritters and the lobster mac & cheese. The conch fritters were small, but had nice big chucks of conch in them. They were the conch-iest fritters I have ever had and I would order them again and again! The folks next to us also order some oysters that looked great, some fish tacos and a grilled fish sandwich, all of which they seemed really happy with. In addition to the yummy food options, they had a great choices at the bar, both in beer and in flavored vodka selections. Next time we are in the area I would love to stop back in!

It was my boyfriend and I's first time at the Fishack this past Wednesday, the 6th... and WOW! Our dinners were absolutely delicious! Hard to go wrong with a whole Lobster, and the Seafood Stew had a VERY generous amount of seafood, especially lobster, which wasn't expected! The King Margarita was great too, and our lady bartender was very nice and attentive . Thanks for the fantastic experience, we will definitely be returning!

Servers were jerks!!! The oysters were full of shells. Will NOT return!! Will NOT recommend to family and friends.

We love trying a little taste of everything and if you use Localdines it's half price. .Try the pan sheared scallops or Chowdah and the Lob Lob Mac rocks

Our intention was to go to the Kilted Mermaid next door for lunch but they do not open until 5:00.So we decided to give this place a try. Lots of people were having lunch here. Decorations were bright with a beach theme. The owner was very friendly when she greeted us. Our waitress was very attentive. Started out with the mussels as an appetizer. They were served in a white wine, garlic sauce. Excellent and tasty. Mahi fish tacos were very good but the portion of fish was a little on the skimpy side. The coleslaw was served in a plastic container the size of a shot glass...ridiculous! French fries were tasty.

I was pretty impressed with our lunch stop to Fishack! My wife and I were staying in Vero Beach and just kinda started driving around to see the area and find some lunch and (with help to Yelp's app lol) we came across this place. It was a friendly atmosphere, clean looking place and the servers were very nice. I had some fresh oysters with their hot sauce, and the hot sauce is AMAZING. They sell it. I made the mistake of not buying it and now I miss it. I had tuna taco's which were outstanding and the hot sauce flowed over those too! We had a great experience and I would definitely swing by again next time I am in the area!

Preface: Maybe my taste for seafood is spoiled, from having lived 14 years in dc/md, but this trip to fishack was thoroughly un-impressive. I normally won't post a review on a local restaurant, until my third time in; but this meal was so bad, that I couldn't let it slide. The entree: Following my typical routine for local restaurants, I ordered something familiar for my first trip; in this case, crab cakes in a cream sauce, with a vegetable medley. The crab was both flavorless and old. It had the texture of over-cooked asparagus(soft and stringy). The vegetables were so old, that they ate like jell-o and the "cream sauce" both tasted and looked, like salty milk. The experience: The server was very attentive and courteous; he never made me wait and payed close attention to my table. He didn't make me ask for anything twice and didn't present the bill, until I asked. To summarize; the food was crap and for being 10 minutes from the Atlantic(in traffic), this is inexcusable. At 14.95, the entree was obviously, terrible value for money. However, the service was good. I'd seriously consider giving this place a single star, if the server wasn't as good as he was. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, whom I actually cared for.

Had the smoked fish dip -it was good, stuffed snapper was yummy, and the shacktastic Sandwich was uneventful/ bland. Hokey beach decor, but there are TVs all around to watch whatever sport is on.

Good service, kitchy decor, and a fabulous key lime pie, though overall a tad overpriced. We started with the conch fritters, which were good. I went with the Shackarita, which i didnt even finish because it was so bad. I ordered the pompano dinner special, which was mediocre. It was covered in creamed spinach, fried onions and bacon and served with rice and veggies. My husband ordered off the menu and got the mahi, which was also slathered in feta cheese, spinach and tomatoes. No salad came with either dinner.

I must admit first that I didn't go looking for this place, I was wanting to go to the place next door. The place next door didn't open until much later in the day and I was hungry.... And then let me tell you the bad thing first so I can be done with it..... great big neon in the window for Kona Beer, no Kona Beer available. There, the bad is done so lets get on to the good stuff.... The place: fun, somewhere between a beach hangout, a fishing shack, and a tiki bar. Bamboo on the walls, pictures and ehpemera of all things fishing related and, like I mentioned above, a nice big Kona Beer sign on the wall. The service: our waiter was new but did a good job. The manager type person was walking around checking with the crowd, she was very nice. The bartender even came around once to check on us. I presume the manager person and bartender person were checking up on the new waiter person, but it wasn't obtrusive or obvious. The food: There were three of us along so tried a couple of things. The special for the day was Mahi over spinach and pasta, it was awesome! Just enough sauce to give it flavor, but not so much sauce that you had pasta soup in your bowl. The fish sandwich was equally well done, fish was still flaky and tender and the spice rub was awesome. The fish and chips were the least exciting thing we ordered and even they were done very well. I am not local to Vero Beach which is a shame because this place was really good. I do know that any time I am in Vero Beach I will be going here to eat! Oh.... don't forget to ask them for some of the house hot sauce! Its amazing!

We found this place via Trip advisor, while on vacation. We took our 6 & 9 year old's there for dinner, this place was decorated awesomely... The waiter was super cool, we ordered all kinds of food that we don't see much of in MI & my kids tried it all, the lobster, fried shrimp & all you can eat fish tacos were delicious. They made the all you can eat tacos to order, so you're not getting old, heat lamp warmed, dried out tacos... We were there for a while, we asked a lot from our waiter that night... He never seemed to mind & even offer up suggestions. This place is rad, check it.

While visiting family in FL, I like to try new places, and Fish Shack sounded like a cool name. They have really good sauce they make in house, and their chowder was great with a nice kick to it. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. I was thinking, three of four stars, but I couldn't think of why to only give out three. Definitely will be back to try more off their menu when in Vero beach.

Avg to low avg...what a disappointment after reviews here. Fried scallops were foul...bacon on salmon sandwich not good quality...buffalo chicken fingers okay same for onion rings...and key lime really is good. Marg might be best in Vero...but didn't help food this night.

I had heard that the fishack had the best fish tacos in town so I couldn't wait to try them for lunch today, we started with the calamari which was decent slightly different as no red sauce just a thousand island type dressing, the batter was light but was very bland had to add salt and drench in lemon to add some flavor, my wife ordered the oyster po boy and I of course the mahi tacos, the po boy had very little flavor and the bread was soggy she just ate the oysters which seemed frozen again very bland, the tacos that I had been looking forward to were disappointing as the bulk of them is cabbage and cheese and a sliver of mahi on top about one inch wide by 3 1/2 inches long and about 3/4 inch thick. The French fries seemed as though they had been sitting out and had been reheated or just old oil neither my wife or myself could eat them. My wife had ordered a pineapple coconut cocktail from the menu a joe something, it came with a dry piece of orange on top and was very sour she couldn't drink more than a 1/4 of the drink, on a good note the server was on point and friendly but overall a disappointing lunch especially for the price

Fast friendly and fresh. I was passing trough town and had a hankering for a fish taco. They knocked it out of the park. Nothing too fancy or complicated - I had the mahi-mahi and everything was fresh with nice clean flavours. My advice - peak in the door, it's exactly what it seems.

We were antiquing in Vero and stumbled across this place by accident. A very nice surprise. We started with their Seafood Smack appetizer and then moved onto an Oyster Po'boy and a Fish Burrito both with Sweet Potato Tater Tots. Both were excellent choices with the oysters and fish being cooked perfectly. Service was well managed with us never needing to ask for something. We will be returning without a doubt

Food was great. Very reasonable prices. Kids meals were very fresh and my kids ate every bite and reasonably priced. The lobster roll was awesome!

I'm always a bit hesitant to give out 5 stars to a place unless it seriously impresses me. Culinary is one of the most subjective fields on the planet. What I like, you might find appalling and vice versa. However after dining at this new place last week and listening to the other diners, it receives a 5 star and deservedly so. From what I am told it is the owners of a well know hot spot and let me tell you, they know what they are doing. Usually when a place opens up there are alot of trip ups but I could not find one. Live dinner music, bar and plenty of seating make this place more then comfortable. I give a hats off to the wait staff as well including the front end manager who understands the value of "face time" with guests. Obviously they specialize in seafood. They have the best conch fritters hands down I have ever had and we just came back from the BVI's where it's "their" thing. The only thing that I wasn't aware of is the steamers. Being a "Yankee" we are use to hard shelled steamers and these were soft shell clams. They were however delicious and not gritty at all. I had grouper which was blackened to perfection and a very good sized portion. My son had fish and chips which he all but licked the plate and the Mrs. had the Mahi which I think getting a taste from a ravenous pit bull's bone would have been easier. However after holding my breath and throwing myself on the floor she allowed me a nibble. I see why she didn't want to share. On old Dixie Hwy it is easy to get to. Heck you'll see me there every visit to Vero. I'll be the big guy in some stupid Tee shirt with sayings like.."Shut up and Drink.."

Fish shack offers a great variety of good fresh seafood and attentive, friendly servers in a low key setting. We had conch fritters and conch chowder followed by crab cakes and scallops. All were well prepared and good portions. The interesting menu will see us return.

Came in for lunch and was surprised by a delicious conch chowder and a fried fish sandwich. It was crispy as it was fried with panko. The fries were spicy as they were flavored with old bay. It was yummy! Will definitely be back!

Well maybe 4.5 stars, but this is Vero, so this is as good as it gets within an hour drive. This place is both fun and friendly. There's a full bar and often some live acoustic music to add to the atmosphere. I'm on a diet so I don't eat a lot of fried food, but I've tried the fried oyster po boy and the fried clams and I think they are awesome here. I normally just get a blackened fish (there's normally like 4 kinds of fish to choose from each day) on top of a Caesar Salad, and my fish is always prepared nicely. I love to come here for the reasonable drink prices during happy hour and stick around for a good healthy dinner.

Visited Fishack twice on our recent vacation. This is now our favorite restaurant in Vero Beach. It's some of the best seafood we've found in Florida. I particularly liked that they had many seafood options on the menu that were well balanced and not fried. Would give it 4.5 stars if this were an option. Food was excellent overall. Staff was attentive and friendly. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that the TVs on the walls distract from an otherwise nice dining experience. People shouting at the TVs during the March Madness games made it difficult to hold a reasonable conversation.

Not good, overpriced, small portions. After reading their menu, we decided to try out, mainly because they had whole belly clams. Being from New England we hadn't had any since we moved to Florida 4 years ago. What a LETDOWN! Not just the clams, EVERYTHING. We got Conch fritters, and fried Oysters for our appetizers. The fritters were small and overdone, I don't know why people rave about them. Squid Lips are much better and prepared the right way. Could barely tell if I was eating conch. My girl got the fried Oysters and they were tiny, as if they were just pieces of oysters, and not many of them! My Whole belly clams were small, tasteless and just disappointing. These aren't like the Ipswich clams, more like fried steamers, and I know my clams. Got them with the sweet potato tots, small and mushy-yuck! My girl ordered the broiled scallops, another loser. They were small (definitely NOT sea scallops) and not bay scallops. It came with bread crumbs sprinkled on them! What's that about?? It came with a teeny portion of mixed vegetables, that were soggy. When we ordered our food we thought we'd be bringing home leftovers-NOT! The drinks were way overpriced, $10 for a small glass of Kendall Jackson chardonnay, and $7 for a Yeungling draft! Only reason it gets a star at all is the keylime pie was half-decent. The shocker was when the bill came-$89! The service was okay, and honestly was the only thing that was. Would not recommend at all.

Good food and good prices. We had the Conch Fritters and Lob Lob Mac & Cheese for appetizers and The Barge Challenge for an entree (a 24" Po'Boy with fries and slaw) as well as the blackened Shackwitch with sweet potato 'tater tots, chicken fingers, mac & cheese, and a fried Shackwitch with fries. They had a booth that fit our party of 8 but it was a bit tight. I really liked the fries. They were tossed with Old Bay and were nice and crispy and HOT. We'll be back there soon to give a few more menu items a try. There are plenty of TVs hanging from the ceiling so it'd be a fun place to go to watch your favorite game.

Back at Fishack. Shrimp tacos and Conch fritters. Their conch fritters are so frickin' delicious. Ya'll need to try this place.

Bright, open layout with a somewhat hodgepodge decor. There's an open kitchen area but it serves no purpose and really confuses and distracts. Very friendly staff and thanks to them this place probably stays afloat. The food is mediocre at best. Paid $10.95 for 3 quarter size scallops appetizer on a 10 inch plate. 7/8 or the plate was covered with field greens it should have been a salad. Shrimp appetizer was plentiful but not fresh. The seasoning was pretty good but the shrimp were probably sitting around for a while in the shell which makes them a little rubbery. The last thing I had was oysters. Which by the way I wanted steamed but they had nothing steamed on the menu. Again they were pathetically small like the scallops. If you put them all together they wouldn't have covered a slice of bread. I won't go back. Being a clean restaurant with a good staff means nothing when your food is lackluster.

OMG, I loved this place! Have been coming to Vero Beach to visit Mom for at least a decade and we were always dragged to places that were overpriced and overcooked. This is without a doubt the BEST seafood I've had in this town, and I'm originally from the Boston area so it's not like I'm not a bit on the high maintenance side when it comes to this sort of thing. Mom had the Shacktastic and loved it, the fish couldn't have been fresher tasting. I had the fried clam platter (I hadn't had clams since we moved to AZ five years ago) and it was worth the wait! I'm not a big french fries fan, so I opted for the extra buck and got the sweet potato tater tots....which I highly recommend. . We were there around 1P on a Wednesday. Great friendly service and a totally acceptable wait time for the meal to arrive. I thought the atmosphere was great (loved the fabric on the booths...which were pretty cool in themselves as they're nice and long, so could very easily accommodate at least 3 (or 4 if you're my Mom's size) people on each side. My only regret is that I waited until the last day I was in town to try this place. Can hardly wait until we come back in March for spring training; it's going to be the first place we go. I'm looking forward to working my way through the menu on subsequent visits...I'll keep you posted!

Had lunch here with a couple of guys last week and sat at the bar. All in all we had a nice lunch, salad etc., a couple of reasonably priced drinks, and plenty of bartender chat. It was Saturday afternoon and it was pretty quiet, but worth the effort.

Had dinner at this place tonight. Totally disgusted with this service. No amount of tasty food would convince me to return. The all you can eat fish and chips was way over priced. The mojitos were $7! One bowl of clam chowder: $6.Three drinks and 5 meals = $144! Ridiculous! I probably would not have minded if the service had been pleasant. Thursday night is all you can eat tacos. My sonasked them to only use tomatoes and cheese on the tacos (no cabbage) and we were told that was not possible. What? Even Burger King let's you have it your way. They just couldn't make it without the cabbage? Really? Since when is something that simple not something you can provide for your customer. Obviously, making your customer's wishes a priority wasn't a a priority at all. Disgusted and will not return. Too many other great places to eat in Vero Beach. When we were done eating we went next door for dessert. It was like night and day. What a total let down.

I guess it depends on what you get, but the biggest downer was the service. The guy could have cared less that we were there.... the Jalapeno Margarita was so gross...he recommended it but never asked if I liked it. We were sad, because we don't go out to eat very often and we'd heard good things... but had a bad experience. I should have said something but he never came back to the table, someone else delivered our food and then we only saw him when he brought the check. By then you just want to leave right??????

We liked this place so much we came back for lunch twice on our weekend trip! The menu is diverse enough even for picky eaters; we are pescatarians, and I was so impressed with the large selection of entrees. On our first trip, my husband had the Shacktastic sandwich, fried cod, melted American cheese topped with coleslaw and French fries on a toasted bun, for $10.95. This was very good; the fish was flavorful, with a nice, clean (almost sweet) taste. The portion size was large, too. He felt that the coleslaw added a nice temperature contrast to this sandwich. At the server's suggestion, he added Sriracha to his tartar sauce. The fries accompanying this were good, seasoned with Old Bay, and were nice and crisp. My first lunch was the blackened, rare tuna tacos for $11.95. These were very good, cooked rare enough for even me (I love my tuna RARE!). I wish that the tuna portions had been a bit larger; I ate the half of each taco that had tuna on it and left the rest. On our second lunch, my husband had the New England clam roll for $12.95. He liked that the bun was a split-top bun, and the clams were soft, not chewy at all, and very well flavored. This was another great choice for him! I had the Shack Burrito for $10.95, blackened cod wrapped in a burrito with slaw, lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, and black bean salsa. This was also very good; the cod was delicious and well-seasoned. We had different servers on each visit: Kyle and Robert. Both were friendly and personable, and their service was very prompt. We had a great time and will definitely go back when we're next in the Vero Beach area!

This is one of the best places to eat in Vero. Fresh fish, full belly fried clams ( a rarity) best shrimp po boy and most delicious lobstah salad are definitely on my recommendation list.

This place is packed! Good food, great service. Friend and I asked to split a dish in half cause we wanted to share, and the waiter was more than willing to accommodate to our request. They literally split the sandwich we ordered in two. My half portion was just nice to fulfill my not-so-empty-and-not-so-hungry-self. Fish was fresh and the combination of the bun taste and the grilled fish was...great! Definitely a good place to eat seafood at.

Heard good things about the other restaurants the owners own, but decided to try Fishack first - we were in the mood for seafood. My husband and I have eaten at Fishack twice and plan to go back again and again! Fishack has a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The service is great. Everyone helps your table even though they may not be your server (and without giving attitude or funny faces). The food is awesome (and reasonably priced)! The desserts are made in-house. AYCE fish taco night was our favorite so far. We like Fishack so much, we can't wait to try the owner's other restaurants!

Almost didn't go because of a couple of other reviews but had a wonderful meal. The fish and chips were great - sweet potato nuggets were outstanding. Also the huge appetizer of angel hair onion rings. The service was quick and everyone was very cordial and welcoming. We will definitely go back.

This was just OK. The steamed clams were good as were the conch fritters. The lobster mac and cheese was watery. The fish tacos were very good. As a previous poster mentioned, my wife had the fish sandwich and it too had that strong ammonia smell. That is OLD fish. I am struggling to give it a three, but 50% of our meal was good. I would give it another shot I guess.

Fishack has a Tuesday night special for 9.95 all you can eat cod so we went Tuesday for the special. We specified we came for the Tues. Special, all was fine until the check came, who would have thought that we would be charged 13.95 the entree price? After reminding the waiter of our earlier discussion he just thought we wanted the entree: on a Tuesday night! Watch out either the wait staff or the management are ripping us off, stay clear! You've been warned!

Great feel and atmosphere, but food fell just a bit short. Friend and I had shrimp and fish tacos. Nice presentation, but tacos were more cabbage and cheese than seafood. Thin strips of fish, three shrimp on each taco. Both appeared to have been over-seasoned with old-bay seasoning, which overpowered the taste of the seafood. This place has the look and feel of a great seafood place, but our particular orders on this day were disappointing.

Well, our old favorite Stax is gone and in its place has sprung up a great new addition to the Vero Beach restaurant scene. We dropped in on a Tuesday night as this seems to be a good night to test a restaurant's mettle. We arrived a little after 5:00 and the place was relatively empty (save for one other small group). We were 4 and were waiting for 2 others. We were greeted and seated quickly and cordially and handed menus and drink orders were taken. While waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, we were told the specials. Over the next 30 min. the place filled to capacity. We later learned that Tuesday is their all-you-can-eat fish fry for $9.95. Normally I equate this with some cornmeal crusted catfish and soggy fries that are thrown at you at a holding temperature. What we received was some of the freshest Atlantic Cod in a light beer batter and well-seasoned crispy fries that I would easily pay twice that for, served piping hit and fried to order. AMAZING! We also sampled a few of the daily specials which were tasty and inspired. The appetizers were conch fritters and smoked fish spread.(Smack, a Florida specialty that they do exceptionally well) which were both tasty and an excellent value as one order fed six easily. I had a dozen oysters (Apalachicola, Gulf Coast which the waiter actually knew) that were sweet, briny and ice cold. Overall the food was superior but the service, seemed a little slow, especially for a night that they know to be one of their busiest. We will definitely be back for this Vero gem.

I just got back from Fishack. I would have gave them a 5 but Im from MD and I'm sick of old bay which they had on the fries. I had the blackened fish sandwich ..I went with the 3 buck upgrade to the hogfish/wrasse. It was fresh, cooked well and very tasty. The coleslaw was perfect with a hint of sweetness...even the bun for the sandwich seemed home made which was a nice touch. I will be back one or 2 more times before I leave next week.

Good food. Sweet potato tater tots are the BOMB! Food was good and prices were reasonable. Would go back if we are in town again.
