Best chili around, delicious burgers, surprisingly varied menu and the friendly service, good view of the airport activity and the ability to have your food custom cooked to your preferences make this a hidden gem. Try the chili cheese fries, the menu options or get a wonderful omelet. It's all good. Nothing fancy, but really good food. Breakfast and lunch only, so get in early.

Tough to find. It's in the airport. Great crab cake, great food. Super friendly service. Was looking for a simple well prepared breakfast and found this place. Highly recommend. Super friendly server from Illinois. She was great.

Food is always delicious!! Especially like the "island touch" added to some of the dishes. Great place for breakfast and lunch.

My 8 year old really liked the planes and being able to go outside where I could see him while I waited for my breakfast. Service was good but the menu seemed pricey for breakfast fare. Pecan pancakes which I ordered came quickly but seemed heavy and glue-like. Coffee was very good however after my only refill the waiter never returned except to drop off my check. The tables were full and I assume I was supposed to understand that someone else needed mine. I like that the kitchen is visible behind the counter and everything seemed clean. Lots of sunlight to read by which is important for my diminishing eyesight. Nice comfortable couch in the airport lobby and newspaper boxes out front. Ample parking.

For the size of the town, Venice has an especially beautiful airport, lots of small planes and business jets coming and going, and a small restaurant on-site from which to enjoy it all. It is only open for breakfast and lunch, unfortunately. The food is fine, but a little pricy for the quantity. Hopefully, they'll adjust that in the future as they get more feedback! I would like to see this chef stay around for a long time.

I'm sold this place is yummy. Yes they do have a limited menu but given the size of the place I can see why. The chef is from the islands and the cuisine reflects this. I went today and had the 3 slider plate. Jerk chicken, crab cake and cheeseburger. Everything was great the jerk chicken outstanding as was the crab cake. The dish came with 2 sides, I chose sweet potato fries and French fries both were well done and tasted nothing like fish. In all it was a huge amount of food! Great views of the airport and nice people, this is the place to go!

Found this gem on TripAdvisor while looking for a local lunch spot. Service was good. Tony brought a plate with 3 small bowls to our table to taste chili, conch stew and cream of mushroom soup. All were excellent. I ordered the shrimp curry (one of the daily specials) asked Tony for medium heat, it came out perfect. My friend was convinced to try the Reuben with the homemade chips. She said it was one of the best Reuben she's had. I highly recommend this place for lunch.

We found this place by accident. It is the best kept secret in Venice. The owner/Chef, Tony, was trained at one of the best cooking schools in the world and cooked for cruise lines for years (we sit at the bar and he is great fun to talk to). We are in town for a few months and have now eaten there around 10 times. In most small cafes we typically wouldn't try a grilled fish meal but today I had the grilled tilapia Caesar salad with garlic bread and plantains. It was one of the best meals I have had in Venice. The Cuban is the best I have ever had. My son ate it every day for a week. We ate at the Columbia restaurant in Sarasota, where the Cuban was supposedly invented, and this Cuban was better by far. The chili is great. Whatever you get, be sure to get a cup of the black beans on the side They are fantastic.

Breakfast quesadilla very good. Cuban tortilla was recommended and rightly so. Portions are huge. Could only manage to eat half. Place has only 7 tables but with lots of big windows to watch planes landing and taking off. Great service with friendly people. Clean and inviting.

I've been to several small airport cafes and this one is definitely in the top 10. As a pilot I'm looking for good quick food in a clean place with friendly staff. This places hits all those points with room to spare. Having not been here before, my measuring stick is a good old fashion cheeseburger. My son had the mac and cheese. Everything tasted great and the staff really made an effort to make my son smile several times over. I think I'll have one more opportunity to grab a bite here before heading back home and I can't wait. I read something about a good Cuban sandwich, so I guess that's next on the list.

We watched the movie Chef on Netflix. One of the scenes featured a Cuban sandwich which my wife had never experienced. I searched Yelp and saw the reviews. Without a doubt the best Cuban sandwich I have ever had. My wife loved it. The service and friendliness were exceptional. I really do not understand the poor reviews although to be fair we have only eaten there once. We will go back soon. One of the customers said we have to try their Rueben. I will post an update.

Amazing Cubans here but everything is good. Chips are homemade, and everything is prepared fresh, right in front of you. Great lunch spot.

I had the eggs Benedict. At first I wasn't sure about the sauce place on top. First bite... POW right in mouth! The food was great. A different taste in a great way. The chef takes great care in what he cooks and the service was very fast!

Wow chef Tony really goes out of his way to greet customers. On my first visit he brought samples of chili and soup to the table. Nice lunch spot in Venice's beautiful airport. Prices are a bit higher than I would expect but the food hits the spot.

Just moved to Venice and had heard this place was pretty good. Tried it for lunch and was disappointed. Meager portions at ambitious prices. Maybe breakfast is better. But I don't think I'll take that chance.

Had breakfast at Suncoast cafe don't know what all the fuss is about its ok at best , a little over priced for what you get ,won't be returning any time soon just your average breakfast. ...

Nope. Said it all in my tip. Heyday, if there was one, is passed. You should pass it over as well. Prices are inflated for diner fare, perhaps as it is meant to serve the leisure pilots with a bit of extra dosh on them. Service disappeared after we placed our order, and reappeared only to deposit the dishes. I had to send my dish back, as it contained feta cheese that had unintentionally gone over to bleu. Head into town, you will find better fare.

Just love this place, its owner and chef, Tony, and the great food he so lovingly prepares! The airport ambiance makes it special for sure, but it really is the food and Tony that makes me want to go back over and over again. I recommend this place HIGHLY!!!!

We flew in with the intention of going to Sharky's, but they had such a long wait that we decided to give the airport restaurant a try. We asked the waitress what they were known for, and she told us the Cubans. My husband and I both got that, his with the homemade chips, and mine with the sweet potato fries. The Cubans were okay, nowhere near the best we've had. There's a thick piece of pork they put on the sandwich that would taste far better if it had some seasoning. His potato chips were pretty tasty, and my sweet potato fries (not homemade) were fair. We topped it off with a couple of glasses of very weak iced tea. The waitress asked if we'd like to have dessert, and she said they were featuring key lime pie. Since I've never had truly bad key lime pie, I figured it was worth a shot. For $4.95, we got a tiny sliver of pie colored like I've never seen key lime pie colored (hint-not green in the least). I was horrified when I put it in my mouth and it had this very sticky, almost caramel-like quality! I've always had kind of a creamy or fluffy texture to my KLP, never a stick-to-your-teeth texture. Believe me, do yourself a favor and do NOT try that pie! We enjoyed the view of the runway, of course, but we know of plenty of other airport restaurants with much better food and the same type of view. It was okay food, but not good enough to ever bring us back.
