The pizza is great. When I visit my parents in Venice, I live off of it. I would actually give it 4.5 stars if I could.

A local favorite of my parents and their friends. We visited for a nice dinner with my parents and family in from Germany. We had our table ready when we arrived, set for 8 of us. Service was very friendly, and since my parents are regulars, the owner came by to say 'hello' and ensure we had great service - it pays to go anywhere with 'regulars'. Our server was patient as we translated food items and made our dinner choices from a very rich and varied menu. From what I gather, the current owner is the son of the previous owners, taking over after a time of confusion. I'm guessing & hoping the poor reviews were from that transition time. Our meals were excellent! I tried the blackened trout (I think this was the fish - we looked at so many choices) which came with vegetables and garlic potatoes. The recommended wine of Pinot Grigio was perhaps a bit bit sweet for the meal, but a good wine for what it was. The fish was perfectly prepared, and blackened well - something I don't like at most restaurants as they just season it rather than actually blacken it. Yes, I checked how it was done before ordering. Vegetables were excellent, and the potatoes were also very good. Atmosphere was nice casual, not quite elegant, but clean & welcoming. With many good seafood restaurants in the Venice area, this is one solid Italian restaurant to stand out from the crowd. I've been here several times over the years, though not in the past 5 or so, and have always been pleased by the food. I see the current owner as taking this restaurant back to the top for a good, sit down meal. A note on carry out: We enjoyed a couple carry out pizza's from here earlier in our week. The pizza was very good, but no longer hot and fresh like you would receive in house. I'd recommend eating at the restaurant. Their pizza, though very good, may not be their strongest dish.

Macaroni and cheese out of a box has more flavor than any of their pasta dishes. Ordered six dishes, all it one was terrible. One so bad (Alfredo) that we received our money back. Won't go here again.

Went here for the first time to this popular restaurant. Outstanding food, especially for the reasonable price. My pasta dish was perfectly cooked al dente, my husband's eggplant Parmesan was lightly breaded and excellent. A nice salad and garlic bread comes with main dishes. Our friends had pizza( you can choose the thickness of the crust and you pay the base price for cheese pizza plus extra for each ingredient). Also quite good. Decent house wine by the glass, 1/2 or full carafe. The restaurant was full and there was a pleasant buzz with canned Italian- American music in the background. Service was very quick. Everyone was full enough to have leftovers. Happy Hour on cocktails between 5-7:00. Will definitely return soon !

Fabulous! Great service! I had ordered the veal parmesan. I didn't care for the marinara sauce because it just was sweeter than what I would choose. They brought me penne with vodka sauce instead, and it was to die for! They did not have to do that. I will be back and bring my family to enjoy this gem so close to home! Best vodka sauce ever! Yumm

We visited 4th July in early afternoon and were the only ones there at the time. Mary Smith was our waitress and was very friendly and cordial. We ordered a large white pizza and salad to go with it. The food was excellent as was the service. Mary's service was a plus to the restaurant and we will be back to try some of the other dishes. Mike and Judy of Naples

I went here for lunch one day. I was alittle worried based on some of the other reviews but decided to give it a try anyway. I had the penne vodka pasta. It was excellent. It came with a salad and bread. The staff was pleasant. Definitely will be coming back again.

Well we are new to Venice. We stopped in to get a couple slices of pizza. We found out they do not sell slices. they suggested a small pizza ( 8 slices). We sat down and were interested with the lunch special of a Grilled Blacken Chicken with Ranch Dressing, which we decided to share. The Wrap was only so so there was to much Balsamic Dressing and very little Ranch dressing When we received our check we ended up with a $3.50 plate charge for sharing, WOW1. Yes it was apparently printed on the menu, are fault but it was lunch and a Pizza shop LOL!. I hope they don't plate charge for sharing a $10 pizza LOL! There is enough Italian Pizza Places around, We won't be back here. Weak on food quality and poor on customer care. and the chicken was fast food type.

Amazing Pizza at a great price!! Authentic italian cuisine! Ive only had theyre pizza, and wings. Which are amazing. I have not sat inside to eat, but I hear its really nice inside as well. Awesome service and quick delivery!

The take out Pizza is Ok. I had a small 8" or 9" with Pepperoni and Sausage for $14.45, not that good.

We ordered a take-out pizza from Leone's during our visit to Venice on December 26th and found a penny hidden underneath the toppings when we bit into the pizza. When I returned to the restaurant to report the incident, the owner dismissed my complaint by saying he'd been in the business for 30 years and he's never had this problem. When I told him that he had the problem now and that he was probably dealing with a disgruntled employee, he told me, "you probably put it there" and walked away. I have never had an experience like this at a restaurant and I've never been treated so rudely by the owner of a restaurant or any other establishment. There are plenty of fine Italian restaurants in the Venice area so I would strongly recommend that you not frequent this establishment.

This restaurant has two locations, and I have dined at both. If it were not for the unbelievably awful experience at both, I would chalk it up to a fluke. However I think its a standard occurrence for Mama Leone's. The service is my main complaint - on both occasions the wait staff was unfriendly and even more unhelpful when issues with the food arose. Their paste fagioli had a very acidic and off taste. The pasta dish we ordered was actually served with under-cooked, crunchy pasta. This to me is unacceptable that even pasta cannot be cooked properly in an Italian restaurant. There was no point in sending anything back, instead I would just never return or recommend this restaurant.

Solid local place. Had lots of multigenerational families on a recent Monday night. Portions of pasta dishes and pizza were so large that we enjoyed them as leftovers on Tuesday! Huge wine list. Tons of parking. We'll be back.

Looking for some good pizza in Florida? Mama Leones - will definitely satisfy! Pizza pies have a medium crust which is quite crunchy and delicious! Good amounts of sauce cheese and toppings make it a perfect pie! My wife enjoyed the eggplant parm but I thought that it was too drenched in marina sauce. Portions however are enormous and price point is very reasonable! Defintely stay with the pizzas - you will be more happy! Atmosphere is a little blah -- -

We were very happy with our meal at Mama Leone's. The service was very good. Our server went above and beyond what most servers would do without being asked. Our leftovers were packaged away from the table and brought back to us in bag ready to take home. Portion sizes are very generous and the food was delicious. We didn't wait very long and the garlic bread was enough to hold us over until our food arrived. My only criticism is that the prices are a little on the high side. If the portions were smaller and the prices more modest I would go home without leftovers gladly. Pasta dishes that cost what a steak costs seem high. I also would like to order a tap beer but only bottles were available. No happy hour for beer. Wine happy hour, not until summer starts.

I recently contacted the restaurant to make reservations for a group of from 10-30 ladies who meet the last Saturday of the month for lunch. The manager was very helpful. Upon arriving we found that they had set aside a very nice area for our group of what turned out to be 20. The service was out of this world - we could not have asked for better. I ordered the soup of the day which happened to be Italian wedding. It was a large bowl brimming with good things. Delicioso. I also ordered a Greek salad. The salad came out in a huge bowl but the server brought a chilled plate so that I could transfer it to the plate. I ate maybe a quarter of it. She very nicely packaged it so i could take home complete with a small container of dressing. My bill? $9.04 with tax. Everyone in the group was extremely pleased with their lunches and several said they would return. For the reviewer who charged the owners with fraud - it is my understanding that the two partners recently split and that the Nokomis location is still owned by the other partner. There are signs everywhere saying that they do not accept the coupons.

Old-fashioned locally owned, family run restaurant which we often go to for decent traditional Italian food at a good price. "Mama Leone"actually exists and sometimes presides over the scene from her own table. I see one very negative one-star review below, and suppose any restaurant can have a bad day or a grumpy server, but that has NEVER been our experience here!
