Had breakfast there 3 weeks ago. Just amazing like everyone says. Listen to your waitress. I was torn between two dishes but she said the corn beef hash is a special , made fresh form their own corn beef and it is only available once in a while. Now I love this dish. It was by far the best I ever had. Now I know the difference between fresh and really home made and the others. Going for lunch there today. I think I'll try the taco's everyone raves about.

While the motel next door may not let you know what awaits you, the Blu Island Bistro is that perfect little breakfast and lunch spot ( I have not yet tried their game meat nights) Eggs Benedict on pastrami --- Brilliant. Good pancakes and a list of specials. Fried green tomato BLT, homemade muffins and pleasant service. Outside offers doggie dining option (especially fun after going to the dog beach for a swim with the pups) Indoor has a cute decor and complimentary coffee and mini muffin while there is a wait which is often on the weekends.

We visited on Easter Sunday. There was a very brief wait. We ordered the banana French toast, western omelet, home fries, and my a breakfast sandwich. Everything was delicious! I have to say that this was the best breakfast out we've had in a really long time. My husband and I were extremely impressed. My 2-year-old son was as well. He ate his entire plate of banana French toast. I took a couple of bites of it, and I could see why he loved it! I definitely recommend getting the French toast. The home fries were very different that I was expecting, but the were good. Service was awesome too! They gave my son a surprise Easter egg as a little gift for Easter. That was a nice touch. Next time we go to Venice, we will be back!
(5)Gregory B.
Everything was excellent. The food, price, service and atmosphere were all very nice.
(5)Sheila H.
We chose Blu because of the great reviews and were glad that we did. We both ordered the breakfast burrito and loved it. The staff is very Friendly and helpful. I even bought a T shirt. You won't be disappointed!!
(5)Lydia B.
Love the down to earth friendly & efficient staff. This was a real surprise but thanks to Yelp we found it. The food was first class with that urban east coast sophistication that was not expected in Venice....but then, of course, Chef was from the Philly area so it all made sense. Also, it seemed like we were surrounded by New Yorkers & Jerseyans. Could never go anywhere without running into Jerseyans.
(5)Debra R.
Our new breakfast and lunch favorite!! What a flavor experience with each bite! This and wonderful staff to boot!! Winner winner! Thank you Blu Island Bistro!!
(5)Stacy N.
Make this a must do while you are in Venice! The menu of unique protein choices drew us in & I'm so glad we went! We started w/ the grouper cheeks which were seasoned very well. Then I ordered the Caprese salad & my mom had the wedge salad...both of which were wonderful! For entrees we choose blackened sea scallops & the buffalo steak. Delicious dinner & the wine pairings were good as well! Dinner is only served Friday & Saturday nights. I would highly recommend making a reservation as the restaurant is not very large.

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Please don't review this business if you received a freebie for writing this review, or if you're connected in any way to the owner or employees. Absolutely the best breakfast in Venice!!! The pancakes...... I will never order pancakes anywhere else, they could never stand up to these moist fluffy buttery offerings at the Bistro!!!!!
(5)Jennifer H.
Great little spot, enjoyable lunch!
(5)Jane C.
Went for lunch, great food, good size portions, friendly staff Hidden gem, will be returning
(5)Brandon F.
Our family enjoy this gem of a place off the beaten path from downtown for lunch. The crab cake sandwich top everything. Service just right. Breakfast items were delightful.
(5)Abram S.
It was an average breakfast. Nothing to write home about. I'd like to come back for dinner and see what's cooking. They did on the other hand have a really kid friendly atmosphere and the waitress was excellent.
(3)Caitlin M.
You can tell Chef Alan put a lot of thought, care and preparation in to the food. All condiments, sides etc are made fresh in the kitchen. Pancakes have s nice crispy outside and fluffy inside. I especially enjoy the special benedicts and omelets. On the weekends they tend to use extras from the dinner service. He makes killer weekly ice cream flavors. Only four stars because servers can be hit and miss.
(4)Scott J.
Literally the best breakfast place I've been to. Small little twists on classics with excellent attention to detail. Pork roll sandwich is fantastic, the BLT with fried egg is even better. Their version of hash browns is outstanding if you like things a little spicy. I go here everyday when I'm in Venice.
(5)Rebecca B.
Our family of 5 came for breakfast and we were seated right away. Coloring books and a pitcher of crayons appeared immediately. Super cute interior with throw pillows on the benches. Extremely friendly staff who treated everyone like a regular...maybe we were the only non-regulars. Quiet, cozy, comfortable. The food was GREAT. Simple basics done right. It can be hard to find food in this area that isn't batter fried or smothered in white sauce (or both)...this spot is like a breath of fresh air. Did I mention it's cheap? We were there yesterday and are now plotting to go back again today.
(4)Barbara W.
In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Venice. The staff is friendly, the food is great. They take reservations for dinner ( Friday and Saturday night only), which is hard to find in Venice during high season. The food is beautifully presented. Be sure to ask for seating in the back room, or at least inside, as the outside seating overlooks the parking lot. Not good for groups larger than 6 max due to seating capacity, unless you want to be outside. I go there for breakfast whenever I can (love the 3 mushroom omelette), but dinner is really special. Beautifully presented, too. Wish the restaurant was open for dinner every night. During the high season, be sure to make reservations early in the week for the following weekend if you want to have a good choice of seating times.
(5)Bethany T.
Thanks to Yelp for leading us to this gem; which has become our "must stop" lunch location when in the area. Crab Cakes sandwich with homemade chips is ooooo so good. Service is always friendly and efficient.
(5)Larry T.
Good variety for fancy eaters and volume eaters. Great service and cosy atmosphere for relaxed conversation. Love coming here to catch up with friends.
(5)Tonya L.
Grouper tacos were awesome. The french fries are hand cut and fresh and the onion rings are fresh thin cut and hand breaded! Amazing!! Outside patio dining was pet friendly. Very clean and quick service. We will be back!
(5)Frank V.
A gem among all the restaurants in the area. The chef's octopus appetizer was the best I ever had, a memorable treat. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner and will continue to eat at Blu's.
(5)Caryn J.
We found Blu Island Bistro after church. It's quite a gem! We were seated right away, but it's a small place, and will probably be quite busy during season. The food was wonderful, quick, and imaginative. We will definitely be back. We want to try lunch and dinner!
(5)Kk W.
Finally! A great place for breakfast in Venice, Florida. Pancakes, scrapple, a perfect mushroom omelet. All perfection. The only complaint would be that the coffee was not that good. Weak ,diner coffee. I am particular about coffee and will have mine before I leave for a stellar breakfast at Blu'. Complements to the chef for a delish meal. Note: the setting is cozy casual.. Anxious to try dinner, lunch here..
(4)Brad W.
I had the pleasure of finally having dinner at this restaurant last night. My wife had the salmon and I decided to go a little more exotic with the kangaroo. I was very satisfied with my dinner and will be returning soon to try the Elk. Living in Venice there are not too many different choices for dinner restaurants. This place is a gem! The cook is very talented and the menu has something for everyone. Very impressed. I only wish I took a picture of the amazing meal.
(5)Paul E J.
What a great place. Unique menu with many daily specials. My Blu burrito was outstanding.
(5)Tim H.
I sat down with three other tables. I was the only one by myself trying to grab a quick work lunch. I ignored a phone call to order which is why l know exactly how long this took. I was the last of the three tables to order my grouper sandwich with onion rings. 20 minutes later the other three tables had there food and the waitress informed me that mine would be out next. The next time she came out when I asked her to check my order she told me that it was because the filet was sooo big. 28 minutes later my food came. No apology. No excuses. 48 minutes to cook a 'not that big filet' of fish and fry some onion rings. The place wasn't even busy. The other three tables ate and paid and left before my food even came out. That being said I gave them 2 stars because the food was pretty good but the experience was a bust. I won't be going back.
(2)Steven C.
This place is Da bomb. The food is so good and very fresh. The folks here love what they do and it shows. Chef Alan is a phenomenal cook. We had the pancakes which were delicious. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon flavorful. Do yourself a favor and find your way here.
(5)Gary F.
Here for breakfast. Very friendly staff. Seated immediately. Great relaxing, homey atmosphere. Steak and mushroom quiche with fresh fruit, and fresh orange juice was delicious. Did I mention the friendly staff?
(5)Elle R.
U DONT NEED TO DIE TO GO TO HEAVEN I HAVE TRAVELED ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY AND THIS PLACE TOPS THEM ALL. It needs to be on "the open table" list of America best restaurants Sadly this place is only open for dinner on weekends and is known for breakfasts which I haven't tried yet being we went there for dinner They have three unusual meats on their menu of which we had the elk and buffalo I strongly suggest you make reservations
(5)Nadine N.
Favorite breakfast place. Always fresh and tasty. They have gluten free options and have a nice variety of breakfast choices. I usually spring for an omelet but friends say the banana French toast is pretty stellar too. Service is friendly and quick as well. Even though I usually come for breakfast, the lunch menu is awesome too. The grass fed beef burger and the fish tacos are pretty delicious, oh and the Mediterranean platter is yummy too!
(5)Jaclyn N.
A local gem!! Shabby chic with gourmet cuisine. Venice is so lucky to have the talented Chef Alan cooking up his yummy treats. My husband and I go there often for breakfast, lunch and weekend dinners. Our favorites are the corned beef Reuben, homemade mushroom soup, pressed Cuban and all the salads.
(5)Sara G.
Came here tonight to take my grandparents out for a delicious dinner. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. My family has lived here for 20 years and had never been, and they are already planning their trip back. Thank you!!
(5)Julian A.
Yelpers this restaurant is very good and with great service. My daughters are both very picky eaters and they wiped their plate clean. I had the spinach and goat cheese egg omelet. I'm not a fan of goat cheese but it was pretty good. My wife had the banana French toast and she said it was delicious. My daughter had grilled cheese and they enjoyed it a lot. The place is very economical. I believe for 5 big dishes and tons of side and drinks. We spent a total of $48.00 dollars. I am very happy with that. Come see their diverse menu. It looks great!!!!
(5)Norman D.
Great food, knowledgable staff, attentive servers. Would get 5 stars if dining area wasn't a little too warm at 10am. I had the goat cheese and spinach omelet and it exceeded my expectations. The coffee was fresh with plenty of table-side creamers and my water and coffee were never in danger of running out. The ambiance was friendly and welcoming. The menu provides a mini-bio of the chef summarizing his career and awards ( a little prelude that your food will be top-notch!). I will definitely be back.
(4)Linda D.
Had brunch and it was delicious. I a bacon and egg sandwich , hubby had quiche. A side of breakfast potatoes. It was all very good. Glad we stopped in.
(5)Aleah M.
First of all, the vibe in this place is wonderful. It's summery and beachy and lighthearted. Fabulous. The customer service was on point. AND THE FOOD. I got the blt and the cheese and bacon and old bay fried green tomatoes went together magically. Adam got the meat lovers omelette and it was fantastic. I know that because I stole half. We also shared a perfect puffy pancake with delicious powdered sugar. Gorgeous. Happily, there were mimosas and coffee, and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely be coming back.
(5)IJules D.
Tastefully decorated somewhat eclectic little bistro in a motel setting, with Chef Alan's creative exotic American menu. Blu consistently serves up friendly service and top quality scrumptious food! Living locally, it's a nice hidden secret, it's an easy go to for breakfast and lunch. Dinner is served only on Friday & Saturday evening, by reservation (recommended). The quiche of the day is always mouthwatering, along with the most luscious pecan smoked bacon on the planet! The menu is always changing using seasonal fruits and vegetables and FRESH fish! Highly recommended.
(5)Catherine G.
I think Chef Alan had the morning off. Both plates of Eggs Benedict had to be sent back because the eggs were bordering on raw. We did not want to risk getting sick from undercooked eggs. They also were not garnished and came without any sides like potatoes. The staff was friendly though they could have used one more waitress. They were hustling and I felt bad complaining. The dining area was adorably decorated but my high hopes were not realized here :(
(2)Jenny T.
Best place . Good service owner very nice and friendly Very clean ......,, good ... I'm want come back everyday
(5)Matthew E.
We were in Venice recently where yelp (thank you yelp!) led us to the best evening dinner of our entire 1 week Florida vacation. Blu Island Bistro was amazing. We entered with a "hangry" son who just wanted a quick burger. He ended up selecting an amazing salmon dish. Our "hangry" son departed that evening happy having cleaned the entire plate, including the spinach side. My wife loved her grouper with guac. My Sliders (duck and beef) with parmesan fries were perfect. We finished by sharing the chef's recommended dessert that day: a bread pudding with ice cream made by the chef. Every bite was perfect. We were thrilled with our entire dining experience.
(5)Blake H.
Went here with some friends for lunch. Opted to eat outside since it was so hot inside. Had about a 20 minute wait. Our table had the all american burger, Cuban, Reuben, and Philly Cheesesteak, all served with their homemade waffle chips (which were a little well done). Great portion sizes. All the breads were good, ciabatta roll, fresh Cuban bread and French bread. Lots of menu choices, looking forward to coming back. Breakfast also looked great, I saw someone with plate sized pancakes. Looked over their dinner menu, very interesting. Today's specials included kangaroo, wild boar, filet, and scallops, among others. Said during season to call on Tuesday or Wednesday for dinner reservations for Friday and Saturday.
(4)Steve M.
We're moving from the Venice area and our biggest regret is that we will no longer have the Blu Island Bistro. We've never been disappointed going there for any meal Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Alan, Kim and the entire staff make it a great place for dining in Venice. We'll miss you Alan and Kim.
(5)J D.
So good we went twice! Food is fresh, fresh, fresh. Breakfast and lunch with a real chef's touch. Had fish tacos, banana pancakes, egg bacon and fried green tomato sandwich and eggs Benedict. Every dish was excellent. So many things on the menu we would like to try. Service was excellent also.
(5)Lindsay M.
A gem in Venice. The only downside is the wait, but they offer water/tea and cookies while you're waiting, which is a nice touch. The inside is cozy, cutely decorated, nothing crazy but not a diner-feel. Went twice this past weekend, Saturday and Sunday, because, well, why not? The reason I gave four stars was because I was on a strict protein-only diet and asked for a chicken breast on Sunday around 11:15 a.m. as I had it on Saturday and it was delicious. The waitress informed me they were not yet serving lunch and went into intricate detail as to why they cannot "mix the two" on the grill. That's odd, because they serve breakfast all day. Either way, the food is great, and the location is easy to miss if you aren't aware of it (or staying in the hotel it's inside). It's nice to have a professional chef in Venice that takes pride in his work. Too many restaurants just have "cooks" nowadays (this coming from a girl in a restaurant family). Prices are reasonable. We will definitely be back.
(4)Stephany V.
Improved from our first visit, where the main courses were good but everyone came with a side of pickled cabbage that didn't exactly compliment the entres. This time we came for lunch and were overwhelmed by the portion sizes. My cuban sandwich could have fed four people. Add a grilled halibut sandwich (very good), a side of hand cut fries (good) and thin, crispy onion rings (great) and we were ready to be rolled out. This is a really good option in Venice where a lot of places serve mediocre food.
(4)Rebecca G.
Great staff, great food, great environment! Had banana french toast, which was amazing! Definitely need to check this place out if you are in Venice!
(5)Kim L.
Where else can you get true "Northern" food like this around Venice...no where! A little Philly (where the owner is from) influence goes a long way. From pork roll and scrapple to high end dinners and everything in between. Gourmet twist to everyday favorites. Omelets and pancakes the best I've ever had. "Best of Philadelphia" awards adorn the walls of this adorable beachy casual, comfortable find. A real sleeper-location odd with the attachment of a neighboring hotel. Don't miss it, and who doesn't love breakfast all day! Make sure you make reservations for dinner-only Fri/Sat nights. Private parties in-house and out, catering. Open 7 days!
(5)Ronni M.
We have been here numerous times for dinner, but just visited for the first time at breakfast after hearing wonderful reviews from our friends. Our experience was wonderful. My husband had the meat lovers' omelette and I had the crazy good banana French toast (hey, it was our anniversary). Tara, our waitress, was great. The coffee they served to those waiting for tables was a nice touch. This restaurant is a real gem!
(5)Jenna N.
Simply amazing. Everything from the atmosphere to the food was perfect. The chef is very talented. Coming from the nyc area and dining at some of the top rated restaurants.. Blu island bistro could hold it's own there.
(5)Artem I.
Great place! Probably the best place to eat in Venice. Food is top quality and there is usually to a long wait. The staff are great. Highly recommended. I eat here all the time and always bring people here. Love this place. Great atmosphere. If your in town make sure you stop by and get something.
(5)Stefanie P.
Fish tacos are great. I am not a cilantro fan but the toppings aren't heavy on the cilantro. Everything tasted very fresh. Ambiance is cute. Spoke with the staff and they got us pretty excited to come for dinner as they make some exotic items.
(4)Salvatore V.
This restaurant offers a big city 5 star menu at our little city of Venice . We have eaten here three times and the food and service has exceeded our expectations. SV
(5)Kim S.
Ann Marie is a cheerful and provides great service!
(4)Marylee V.
I've only been in Venice for 4 days, but I've eaten here twice - it's that good. I've had the Blu Salad, which is delicious. It's hard to find a good salad here (or anywhere) but this is a keeper - great fresh fruit, great greens. The other day I had the mushroom omelet, which was also delicious. Friends ordered the grouper sandwich, and it's great too. I'd have eaten the hummus plate as an entree - so nice that it wasn't drowning in olive oil. The bargain is the pitcher of sangria - which comes with that same fabulous premium fruit as the salad. Normally restaurant fruit cups are filler melons that have no flavor, but not here. Its big sweet blueberries, fat blackberries, tasty strawberries, oranges, grapefruits, etc. I'll be here another 5 days, and I'm hoping to get to eat here at least 3 more times - it's head and shoulders above everywhere else we've eaten in Venice. Ambiance is good outside - it's dog friendly on the patio, and the service is warm and friendly without being smothering. YUM!
(5)Megan E.
Had a great, quick brunch here. First of all, the mimosas are $4 which is incredible. Second, the food is extremely fresh and flavorful. The staff was attentive. Overall, a great experience.
(5)Richard A.
My pulled pork sandwich was wonderful. My wife's gyro sandwich was also very good. We want to go back and try more menu items. The location is almost unidentifiable but give it a try.
(5)Jean G.
We went for breakfast. Had great expectations based on the reviews . Ordered the eggs Benedict and husband had homemade corn beef hash with eggs over easy. Waitress service was great for a busy Saturday morning. Food and coffee was not. Eggs Benedict was okay. My husband's over easy eggs were undercooked- clear whites in the center. We sent them back. Next round of eggs were better but at that point we just wished we had gotten the check and left. The waitress handled the request very well. And they took our coffees off the bill. We won't be going back.
(2)Spencer J.
Very solid breakfast spot. We had the Eggs Benedict with crab as well as one of the breakfast sandwiches and they were both very good. The atmosphere, decor and service was also very good and inviting. I'll definitely be back to try some of the lunch items as well. A great find!
(4)Maryjo F.
Have eaten breakfast here several times....great selections. Great chef, well prepared & seasoned! Recommend. Definitely not "chain" dining.......Recommend.
(4)Sandy S.
We wanted a place in Venice that would take lunch reservations (unlike Sharkeys) for our group of 8 and Blu' was well recommended. We sat outside which was comfortable and quiet (unlike the inside).although not especially attractive, since you basically are surrounded by the parking lot Unforrtunately, it took a FULL HOUR for our food to come; the friendly staff apologized with a "sorry, everyone came at the same time" but seriously -- this is not haute cuisine. At the least, they could have brought us some free chips and salsa or something. The food itself was OK. The fish tacos were delicous and the portion very generous. The Blu salad with blackened grouper was OK -- nothing special. The food was OK and no one complained -- but no one raved either.
(3)Holly N.
When looking for a middle ground spot to meet in Venice, we decided on Blu' Island Bistro and were glad we did. The location is unassuming and easily overlooked since I believe it is associated with a small motel, however the establishment is quaint and food is excellent. Our group met here for a late lunch. We were seated quickly and courteously. Since two of us arrived a couple minutes early we had time to take in our surroundings. The restaurant is adorable! Booths are covered by great prints and adorned with various throw pillows. A tiny poinsettia sat on each table for a hint of holiday cheer. All of the decor is deliberate and makes you forget you are only a stones throw from the busy Venice thoroughfare. For lunch, I ordered the Blu' Salad with grilled basso fish (+$3). It was delicious! Mixed greens, strawberries, blueberries, dried cranberries, walnuts, and strawberry vinaigrette - could have used a touch of blue cheese perhaps, but it was excellent. Around the table various sandwiches and salads were ordered, all received decent reviews. Our waitress was nice and kept the water/tea flowing. A great spot worth a return trip. However, note that they only do a breakfast/lunch service and close at 3:30pm most days (except Fri/Sat... I think).
(5)Frederick K.
Have lived on Venice Island for many years and finally had a chance to have dinner here and it was over the top delicious. I had the special, delectable short ribs. My date had the stuffed chicken. Everything was great. Good service and friendly staff.
(5)Brittany J.
Found Blu' Island for the weekend getaway my mom and I just had, we were hoping for somewhere unique to the Venice area with good food and we definitely found it. I really liked the ambiance fun beachy look. We had delicious homemade cinnamon muffins to start and the servers were very attentive and kept our coffee mugs full. The selection of dishes was great I went with the special - wild boar eggs benedict! I had never had wild boar but absolutely loved it, the eggs were poached perfectly. It took a little bit long for us to get our food and we were in a bit of a hurry so that's why I'm at 4 stars instead of 5. When I go down again I will definitely want to go back!
(4)Julie S.
Very good food, excellent pancakes. Great outside seating, dog friendly. Excellent lunch meals also. Very fresh Staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is very clean and I like the decor.
(5)Al M.
First time here. Wife and I both had great meals. Service was very good. We had the blueberry pancakes and a spinach and goat cheese omelette. The pancakes were done with real buttermilk, were melt in your mouth and had great flavor. The omelette was very light and fluffy. The spinach was fresh and the goat cheese melted perfectly. Had a side of fresh cut fruit and fresh squeezed OJ. Heading back today for something else.
(5)Michael N.
Great place and food. I went here with my wife and mother in law. Be aware they don't serve dinner everyday, only on Friday and Saturday I believe. It is not cheap, but you get what you pay for here. Everything was delicious. My mother in law is not easily impressed and she loved it. I had home made butter pecan ice cream for desert and it was divine. My mother in law had scallops and they were the best I've ever had. The staff is great, they are attentive without being on top of you. The place is a little small and I hear it can get crowded. We went early and didn't have a problem. We were going to go the next day for breakfast but the parking lot looked PACKED so we went somewhere else. I definitely recommend you give them a try for dinner
(4)Joey D.
Visiting from las vegas where we have tons of great eats, Blu Island Bistro was a real treat to find in Venice. From the Ahi Tuna to the crusted scallops topped off with home made ice cream made for a special night out. The staff extremely pleasant and made me feel as if I were family. Kudos to Blu Island!
(5)Andrew H.
Simply the only place you want to eat in the neck of the woods - delicious food and laid back atmosphere !
(5)CC C.
Had lunch here- we ordered the grouper sandwich and Cuban. Both were good- not earth shattering, but solid. Atmosphere is cute. Service a little lacking-
(3)Loretta M.
Always have a wonderful experience here. Food is always very fresh and innovative. Great for breakfast and lunch. We really have to try it for dinner. I' m sure it will be great.
(4)Kevin F.
Cute little spot for breakfast. Pretty standard food choices at a good price.
(3)Jan D.
Waited about 30 minutes before food came. Service very slow. Fish tacos were extraordinary, omelette was sent back to the kitchen. Lunch better than breakfast?
(3)Grace B.
Pretty tasty little place. Venice desperately needed a cozy little restaurant like Blu. I will say that I have been there 3 times and have never been impressed with the amount of time it takes from ordering to receiving your food. Overall, definitely worth trying and supporting the local businesses of V-Town!
(4)Elaine J.
I love this place and eat here often on the weekends. If it was close to my office I would have lunch here daily! Inventive menu choices, always delicious meals with great coffee and wine on the weekends. Don't eat here if you want bland cafeteria food--this is the place to go for flavors and fantastic specials. Dinner on Friday and Saturday nights is a must!
(5)Mary G.
Very cool.... We had the nicest server Nicole,, She made our visit a lovely experience.. the food was awesome.. Veg Panini and a grilled Portabello Sand...... great Presentation and Taste. CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK.... Thank you Nicole and Blu Island for such good things.
(5)Bob B.
Small bkfst and lunch bistro across from the Venice Hospital. Dinner Fri/Sat only. Beer/Wine only. Wife thought it was very cute. I didn't find much to eat (not much seafood on the menu). But what we had was quite good. Cream of Mushroom soup and Grouper Sandwich (When I told the waitress I couldn't find anything to eat, she then mentioned the Grouper special!).
(3)isaac m.
Smoked salmon Benedict was amazing. Didn't expect to find breakfast this good in this area.
(5)Joyce K.
It was really hard to rate this restaurant after this one experience but it was a zinger! The food was good , I think but it was hard to tell. We were told by several people that it was a sleeper and the chef is from Philly, our hometown . So off we went for brunch. There a was short wait and the hostess was friendly. We sat down at the table and there was only one rolled up silverware set. After a bit the young waitress came by and gave us menus & asked about drinks . I ordered my ice tea and my husband asked for his when he received him food. I ordered the Italian omelette & my husband ordered pancakes and eggs. Well, out comes my breakfast w/out toast & my husband gets one fried egg on a dish ...nothing else. When questioned, the waitress said the kitchen is tiny and is overwhelmed w/ orders. It will be right out. Well, after flagging her down and inquiring about the situation, she again tells us about the kitchen being small and they can,t get the food out fast enough. Ok. The pancakes come ; they r under cooked, his 1st egg is cold, where is the 2nd egg, , no coffee, forgot the toast, new egg come and finally new pancakes and coffee. In between all this waiting , we heard at least 1/2 doz times that "kitchen is tiny and can't keep up w/ the orders" . So while my food was good, this was not a pleasant meal. I did speak w/ the hostess but she used the same excuse and was not so friendly about our poor dining experience . To their defense , they stapled a coupon to our check to come back , which we certainly will. Then , maybe, the "tiny" kitchen will b able to keep up w/the orders!
(3)Don P.
WOW...thanks Yelp! This was a nice surprise. Found the eatery for a late lunch. The decor is quirky, clean, and cool. The waitstaff is exceptional. Try the desserts...Nicole loves preparing the dish for you. It comes out ready to be photographed. I had the fish and chicken tacos. Light and fresh...the homemade salsa is fantastic. The waffle chips are handcut and the onion rings are clean and light without the oiliness that you find most of the time. If youre in Venice FL you've gotta give them a try.
(5)Jim S.
We had an excellent breakfast there this morning. We were greeted by the manager who was very funny and friendly, then the chef actually came out to hear how my mother wanted her potato pancakes, which were delivered shortly thereafter, cooked perfectly. Some of us had the daily quiche or, I had banana/pecan pancakes. Everything was excellent. We will be back!!
(5)Dan M.
Food was good. My onions rings were homemade but the sauce was a little spicy. My husband had the salmon benedict and said it was good. My cousin had the goat cheese omelet and he didn't like it because he said he doesnt like goat cheese. He did like the sausage that came with it. My grandmother had scrambled eggs, and had no complaints, and my mother had the vegetable panini and also had no complaints. All in all a decent place to eat if you are in the area although I do think there may be better options around.

My wife and I ate lunch here (Blu Island Bistro) today and had a very good meal. I had fish tacos and it was outstanding. The bistro-made chips were also great as an accompaniment. My wife had the mushroom soup (excellent) and a plate of fries which are freshly made (not frozen) on site. The service was excellent and the staff were all very accommodating and helpful. We will come again, perhaps for dinner sometime soon.

Lunch at the Blu' Island Bistro was excellent! (My niece, a long time veteran of the restaurant business, was extremely impressed.) We (three of us) can't say enough about our great experience. The service was wonderful and the prices are incredibly reasonable for such amazing food. This is one of the best restaurants in the area!

I found this place here on Yelp and am so glad I did. Been back with 2 different and both times, my guest and I had wonderful meals. The second time the service was a bit slow but nothing that would stop me from going again. I love the atmosphere too. The chef's sister did the decor and its charming. Love the real plants and the casual feel. Visit this place for a wonderful experience.

Wandered in for Bfast. Recommend Dave's Favorite Nice combo. Tasty grits and sourdough. Spice lovers: ask for the hot sauce. It's homemade on site and really good.

Yes! A great new place to go for breakfast and lunch. Inventive menu, great food and excellent service. They even make their own hot sauce and pancake syrup. I'm looking forward to enjoying lots more goodies from their menu. This was our first time there and hubby ordered the spinach and goat cheese omelet while I had the mixed mushroom omelet. Both were absolute perfection.
