It's Sunday afternoon, I'm hungry, and I have no idea what I might want to have for lunch. What is a fellow to do? I this case, I went to the trusty yelp app on my phone to scan what might be in the area. A few strokes later, up pops Havana Dreamers Café. Unless you are a resident of the Longleaf community, you would not likely have ever encountered this place. I'm sure glad that I did! Apparently they are only open from early breakfast (6:30 AM) through late lunch (4:00 PM). The menu is short and sweet. My Roast Pork Meal ($7.50) was indeed a meal! The pork was moist, tender, and plentiful. The black beans and yellow rice were quite tasty as well. The only thing that kept the plate from reaching perfection was perhaps a few pieces of fried plantains, and a wedge of lime. The missing items were forgivable, and I am looking forward to my next visit!

Best place for a Cafe con Leche you're going to find in the New Port a Richey. Cubans are the best in the area as well! We go back all the time. The service is always quick and very friendly. Nice indoor and outdoor seating

Wow!!! So far the friendliest people in Florida that I have met. Busy place too. Coffee is amazing!!!! Ordered a double shot espresso $2 ... It looked like a triple double!!! Came in more then half a cup. At Starbucks it's literally less then two drops -.- Also got the mocha blend for $4. SO delicious!!!! If I lived around here, I would be coming here religiously.

LOVE THIS PLACE! I have eaten here a thousand times and every meal is awesome. My husband loves their Cubans. I enjoy their pastries and the potato balls are incredible! Best cafe con leches ever! The staff is always friendly and the prices are just right. Highly recommend!

Just thinking about the one Cuban sandwich my husband brought me home one day makes me want to go in there tomorrow. I've had my share of Cuban subs and I was really impressed and dying for more! The price can't be beat. Try it! You won't be let down.

I love this place! I always get rice and beans and then split a cuban sandwhich with whoever I'm with. The owner is very friendly and always checks to make sure you have everything you need. Great little cafe in Longleaf.

We went for breakfast and really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was nice, and the food and drink was great. Cafe con leche a little sweeter than I usually like, but I will definitely be back for more (unsweet next time)! Longleaf is a great area and this cafe is a perfect addition to the cute neighborhood.

Outstanding Cuban food. Small clean establishment just off starkey. Great Cuban sandwiches for a cheap price. Very friendly place. Either eat inside or outside along the street. We have been here twice on our visit and have been impressed both times. Family owned.

The Tampa Cuban is one of the best I have ever had... Nice, cozy location to enjoy an awesome Cuban sandwich.

It's good, but not great. They offer two types of Cuban sandwiches; a Tampa version and a Miami version. Their variation of the Cuban sandwich is of the mojo sort. (For a list of how I separate the types, see my list here: yelp.com/list/the-cuban-… ) I don't have an overall problem with the mojo pork variation, so long as the mojo isn't overwhelming. The mojo marinade should ADD TO the natural flavor of the pork, not BE THE FLAVOR of the pork. Here at Havana Dreamers, the pork is quite literally DOUSED in mojo, leaving it to taste very tangy and citrusy. The actual taste of the meat is a distant memory that faded away the minute 17 gallons of liquid mojo marinade was poured all over it. I think if they cut back on the mojo a bit, they'd have a much better tasting sammich. My second problem with their Cuban was how skimpy they go on ham and salami. One single folded slice of each. My third and final gripe is the cheese. A Cuban sandwich should be made with a punch-you-in-your-freaking-face-sharp Swiss cheese. The menu states they use Swiss cheese, but if this was Swiss, it was the worst I'd ever had. It tasted more like bland ass White American cheese to me. My junior high school used to make Cubans with White American cheese. I hated it when I was 10, and I still hate it today. Major let down. There are some pros to Havana Dreamers tho. The place is adorable, and the staff is super friendly. The rice and blacks are delicious, and they make their sandwiches on Casino Bakery Cuban bread, which is my favorite. Lastly, the prices are extremely affordable. Some Cuban eateries try to jack up the price like they're selling diamonds. This is inexpensive food to make, and the prices should always reflect that. I think with a few simple tweaks to their Cuban sandwich, they could potentially boast the best outside of Tampa. Until then, I will stick to the 813 for ordering my Cubans.

Great local place .... they have a small but delicious menu Great Cuban coffee ! There breakfast Cuban sandwich is very yummy as well. Also very convenient for the Longleaf neighborhood. . Still haven't tried the lunch, but I very anxious to. They have a roast pork sandwich that looks good. Can't wait to try it next. Will be back many more times.

In a sparse town where you are more likely to run into a cow than a concierge, this place is a treat. Sure, the pork is certainly drenched and dripping with tangy Mojo, but I can forgive that egregious error when they are picking up their Cuban Bread at the best bakery in Tampa. (Casino) They also tout some impressive black beans and rice here. Those beans and rice would be the stars of the show if not for the friendly service, ice cream offerings, and thoughtful water station in an adorable little condo setting across from a welcoming gazebo. It may not be the very best, but it's the best way out here, and I enjoyed my pork platter! The Tampa Cuban was alright, but desperatley needed a cup of that most holy bean juice soup to wash away it's mojo sins and keep it juicy. Not an unthinkable fix, and still totally worth it.

My work friend and I typically visit this Cafe during our lunch at least twice a week. After trying a few menu items, we have found our 'regular' order. This Cafe makes one of the best Miami Cubans I've ever had. They have a special blend of mayo, mustard and spices that mixes well with the roast pork. Those tastes blend nicely with the slightly buttered and wonderfully crispy pressed bread. My friend normally gets the pork meal. It consists of rice, black beans, roast pork and some buttered Cuban bread. Very healthy portions for under $6. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere feels like an authentic Cafe, filled with good aromas and chatting friends. Highly recommended. Check in around Noon and you might see us there!

Havana Dreamers has fantastic Cuban sandwiches. I have had the Tampa and Miami versions. Both great. I prefer the Tampa version that includes salami. My son and wife were visiting from Richmond and said the Cubans were better than anything around them. I'm sure the other items on their menu are tasty. Call an order in and it will be ready by the time you can get there. Restaurant is small but very neat. You an eat outside as well. They have a good catering menu. My wife has used them for lunch and learns. I would highly recommend.
