    Las Tapas is in the tradition of Spanish restaurants specializing in Tapas. It is too bad that some who post negative reviews don't understand the concept of Tapas. Tapas is not Mexican food but is small portions of outstanding quality served immediately. Tapas is not served to everyone all at once. When you go to a Tapas place, you judge on the quality of the food, not the portion or when the food comes. I learned about Tapas in Madrid and Toledo Spain 20 years ago and have been a devotee since. When I judge a place like this, it is on the quality of food, the service, and the recommended wine. We have taken many guests here and all liked it very much. I love to have lunch here because the portion is just right and the bartender, especially Kathy, is really great. If you know what Tapas is all about, you should try it. If you don't, then learn the concept before you go.

    I really hope Las Tapas makes it in The Villages since it is not the standard meat and potatoes fare. Have been here several times and really enjoy this place. Usually go with another couple so we can share several tapas. Yummy octopus, mushrooms, cold meat and cheese platter. Great place!

    Very nice place. Attentive staff. A little pricey since everything is a la carte. I had tasty salmon with leeks(not as tasty) with a béchamel sauce? I think. Hubby had very tasty #51- steak, potatoes, red sweet peppers on a nice sauce. it was Valentines so they were busy so we did wait a little longer. We did come in with a table for 6. My vegetarian friend ordered the portabella mushroom with spinach and cheese....she didn't love it and won't order again.

    Just recently returned from Spain and I give these guys a lot of credit. I hope this place catches on with the locals and survives. For those that have actually had tapas in Spain, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the affordability of this establishment. This location offers larger portions that are less expensive than Europe. Example: I had a 4 meatball dish for $8. A similar dish in Barcelona cost me 7 euros for only 2 meatballs. When I ate this dish in Europe, I was still hungry, in The Villages, I was full. Some people will say the point of the smaller portion is so you can enjoy a variety of dishes -- they're right, but this place still offers a nice diversion to the standard Villages fare. A great place to order several dishes with your friends for sharing. Try the sangria -- great flavor. Looking forward to a return trip.

    Food was and is always great, but when one part of the order was incorrectly put in, it took an hour to get a steak sandwich. This was after the rest of the order came out and was told a mistake was made and they were re-firing the sandwich. If I had been told about the mistake, I would have eaten the mistake that had been brought out! I asked to speak to a manager, as none had come over to apologize for the error or the wait. Come to find out that there was no manager for either the front of house OR back of house! We have been here on numerous occasions and this was the first time experiencing something like this, but there are way too many great restaurants in The Villages for this to continue!

    Just ate here on June 19th but decided to post after when I saw the score. I travel a lot and it is traditional Tapas - small portions - although some like the Paella are a small meal on their own. It is very authentic. The drinks are very low priced (under $5 for a large craft beer, $3 for a decent house wine). The service was very good the brewmaster came to our table personally to check without asking. Two of our waiters also sang - beautiful voices. After dinner we moved to the small inside bar. They have extensive outdoor seating across from the square where you can hear the nighly music. We were very impressed and will be back. I did not give 5s lightly.

    Took a longtime friend who was visiting and we were impressed. We hung out at the bar and Noelle's customer service was outstanding. My friend had the Lamb Shank and it was tender and seasoned to perfection. I had Seafood Tapas and it was delectable. For dessert... we ordered both the Flan & Creme Brulee and they were world-class. The whip cream and cherry on top was when the chef introduced himself, we had a chance to chat with him.

    My wife and I went here while visiting my parents. We had Jen as our server. She was great! Attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was tasty but a tad pricey for what we got. Some dishes were a little to "garlicky" but all-in-all, give it a try!

    I ordered paella. I received overcooked Spanish rice & chewy seafood. Mom said best with "it isn't like it was in Puerto Rico". I don't want to be mean, but our server acted like an immature child. Finally, the dishes came out staggered resulting in everyone in the party eating alone. I will not be back because of bad food & service that was WAY overpriced. I found it to be a bad dining value.

    We were looking for a different kind of place and we remembered Las Tapas. Brownstone was busy but the restaurant was not crowded. We had a cup of asparagus soup with chicken, very good, I had never had it before so I do not really have anything to compare it with, but it was very good. We ordered some calamari and it was 100% perfect. The best I have had in awhile. I ordered the shrimp and grits. It was perfect. Took some home and it was just a good. The dinners are large and you may have to take some home. Our waitress was great and took the time to explain the food choices. The chef came out later and checked to see if we liked our meal. Nice guy and proud of his work. We will go there again.

    Let me first start off by saying that the waiter was excellent. The ford, for what little you received was good. It was terribly overpriced for what you received. It cost the 2 of us $55 and we came home and ordered a pizza!!!

    As someone who lived in Spain for a time, Las Tapas is one of the most authentic Spanish restaurants I've been to in a long time. The food and service were both great all around. Hope this place does well!

    We just visited after eating at a similar restaurant in St Petersburg. La Tapas was a bit more expensive. While more expensive, the portions were large and the food was excellent. They have a nice selection of beer and in a few months will be brewing their own beer too. The service was very good. We ordered three tapas for two of us. The quantity was just right. While the overall price was a little high for dinner ($50 plus tip), the experience was very good. We will be back.

    Just returned from Las Tapas after a movie next door in Brownwood. My friend and I loved the menu that can take quite a while to go thru. We asked our waiter for recommendations and he was so helpful. The portions were good enough for two people and we shared two items. Happy hour Pinot Grigio for two hit the spot! We will DEFINATELY be going back again as there are many other items to try. Also the dessert page looked fabulous. Our waiter was great and service divine. Loved it!

    My wife and I decided to try the newly opened Tapas Bar in Paddock Square in Brownwood. The food was good, the service was good, but we made the mistake of ordering mohitos this time. They were awful. You'd think this type of drink would be good at a Latin restaurant. Told waitress on how bad it was, she took them back and they came back just as bad. Just because it was Happy. Hour does not mean patrons want a crappy drink with their meal. It seems this place cheapens the drinks at HH time. Probably would not return.

    New to the Villages, and a wonderful change from the main stream American fair. A taste delight, fresh, hot, properly cooked, served with simplicity, and a beverage of your liking. Though wine, or sangria is the right choice for me. The staff is still working out little problems of running this establishment, and this activity distracts Customers. Background Latin music is nice, but just a little loud. I would suggest they could do a better Sangria. Match the nice presentation of draft beer! Yes, we will return. The Villages needed your change of pace, and refreshing approach to casual dining!

    GREAT food and a very creative menu! We ate dinner just 10 days after they opened, and fell in love! The menu is very unique and everything we ordered arrived hot and great! The service was a bit slow - we think they are still working out the bugs. LOVED IT

    Amazing food. Had a dinner for four and ordered six dishes, dessert and a bottle of wine. Everything was great, but would especially recommend the oxtail and scallops (if you are there during the winter, get the hot chocolate for desert...so good!). Possibly best scallops we have had in a very long time. This is tapas, so expect small plates and to share with your group, but for the quality and price, best restaurant we have visited in The Villages so far, by far.

    For those of you who visited Spain and had real Tapas, this will be a let down. If you don't know what tapas is, then this could be a treat. In Spain, it's a small morsel of dishes you can choose from the counter and one might go from bar to bar drinking and picking different dishes. Here it is a restaurant and you order from the menu and size is more like an appetizer and a price to match. You might still find interesting dishes and you'll want to have more than one tapas to choose. Am glad even the name tapas came to The Villages so we can have more variety of food.

    It's nice that there's a place open after the villages closes down. However, the bartenders are either so inept or understaffed or both that you might have to wait 20 min til you get a drink if you're even lucky enough that they notice you at their maybe only 15 seat bar. Time for more training, hopefully. Maybe potential for real bar in the villages.

    We went here this evening for dinner, they were extremely busy and not taking reservations. Our party ordered a pitcher of sangria, and a selection of tapas , everything from ceviche, to andouille sausages, flat breads and paella. All plates were fresh and tasty. The only issue with this establishment is that they are disorganized. While we were seated, a couple of different waiters and the hostess came over to ask if we were ready to place our order. Communication between stations needs to be improved. Prices ranged from $6.00-$12.00 per plate, I think we ordered about 7-8 plates for the four of us. I would return for another taste!

    No way! I was really disappointed in the place! WAY WAY WAY overprice for the quality of food you get. Items are so small. Yes, I know it's a tapas place... I love going to restaurants of this kind but, my goodness! $9 for a plate that was smaller then my fist, and I'm a small girl. It tasted like it was made hours before and sitting under a heat lamp. Yuck. Just yuck. Service was just plane embarrassing. Never greeted after we were seated. I actually had to go to the hostess and ask if we had a server. She had to find someone...? Seriously?!? Finally we ordered. Waiter said it's easier to order by number... We did. When food arrived the runner was just rude! She would just start putting plates on the table. Nothing looked like what we ordered. As I tried to explain this to her she muttered to another food runner that these people have no clue (talking about us) I stood up and looked at her dead in the eye and said "Look at what you put on our table... Before you say one more word check your ticket and see that YOU have no clue" turns out she did bring us another tables order. I will absolutely never return to this place.

    Pleasantly surprised!! My son, mom and I stopped here, not realizing it was in the villages (we were driving from south Florida to NC) and ended up having an amazing meal!! We could not believe how flavorful all our small meals were. We found a few dishes my young son loved, the meatballs and chicken. Our waiter was very friendly and very informative about the area; we learned a lot about the villages.

    My husband and I had lunch there today. Our server Raimie was great and the owner/manager was awesome too. They microbrew their own beer and use Germany's Purity Standards established in 1516. The beer and food were delicious!! Will definitely go back!!

    We headed to The Villages today to dine at Las Tapas. Located off SR 44 in Brownwood, it's about 5 minutes from the Turnpike. They offer a large seating area outside as well as a nicely decorated dining room. The menu is large and offers something for everyone. Some of the tapas have an American spin to them and some of the items suffer as a result. Chicken Croquetas: Did not like, too large and the chicken was cut into big chunks with little flavor. Gambas Al Ajillo: A-Ok, not enough salt and not enough heat/sizzle. A bit undercooked. Tabla De Embutidos (Meats): Small portion but good quality of Jamon Serrano, Chorizo and Lomo. Served with apple slices and grapes. Tortilla Espanola: Served hot which is a big no no in Spain. It had good flavor but at room temp, would've been better. Calamari: Fried perfectly and fresh. Sangria: Good, a lot of fruit and decent overall flavor. We ended up skipping dessert because Russell Stover is less than 3 miles away. The service was very good and our server checked on us throughout our meal. I think they still have to work out some kinks in the kitchen but I think it will have success with the residents of The Villages.

    I have tried Las Tapas twice.I have nothing good to say. Overpriced, horrible service...my friends felt the same. We did have great entertainment though. On of the guys in our group ordered a cappuccino. We were near the cappuccino machine. We watched as several wait staff (and eventually the manager) tried, without success, to make the order. The whole evening was a comedy of errors and bad food. I gave it a second shot, as I understand that every restaurant can have an off night. The service was a bit better, but the food was not acceptable for the price.

    Great, Fun, & Delicious! For starters our waiter Paul was phenomenal, he knew the menu inside and out and was able to make suggestions that were spot on. The food was fresh, well portioned and tasty. My sister is a strict vegan and there was plenty for her to choose, a concern before we entered. As tapas goes the portions are above average, two choices should satisfy most. My seared tuna was cooked perfect, as were all the entrees. Looking forward to their craft beers!

    Food different in a good kind of way. Small plates to share between two people brought to the table as each has been prepared so consistently hot. Bring an open mind and taste several dishes. Beware, however, as each comes with a price tag and they add up as surprisingly pricey. Four servings, one dessert, a wine, a tea & a coffee: $51. Add tax & tip: $64. That will keep us from being more than once or twice a year patrons. Brownwood seems, to us, likely to be the most expensive of the three Villages' squares.

    Amazing! Food was delicious.. Service was great.. And scenery was beautiful:) the menu could be overwhelming for some who aren't used to this style of dining. It's a fun experience.

    Food different in a good kind of way. Small plates to share between two people brought to the table as each has been prepared so consistently hot. Bring an open mind and taste several dishes. Beware, however, as each comes with a price tag and they add up as surprisingly pricey. Four servings, one dessert, a wine, a tea & a coffee: $51. Add tax & tip: $64. That will keep us from being more than once or twice a year patrons. Brownwood seems, to us, likely to be the most expensive of the three Villages' squares.

    The food was great. Lots of interesting items to choose from. The bread and cilantro pesto was amazing! This is a great place to stop between Cocoa and Gainesville :)

    Food was and is always great, but when one part of the order was incorrectly put in, it took an hour to get a steak sandwich. This was after the rest of the order came out and was told a mistake was made and they were re-firing the sandwich. If I had been told about the mistake, I would have eaten the mistake that had been brought out! I asked to speak to a manager, as none had come over to apologize for the error or the wait. Come to find out that there was no manager for either the front of house OR back of house! We have been here on numerous occasions and this was the first time experiencing something like this, but there are way too many great restaurants in The Villages for this to continue!

    Just ate here on June 19th but decided to post after when I saw the score. I travel a lot and it is traditional Tapas - small portions - although some like the Paella are a small meal on their own. It is very authentic. The drinks are very low priced (under $5 for a large craft beer, $3 for a decent house wine). The service was very good the brewmaster came to our table personally to check without asking. Two of our waiters also sang - beautiful voices. After dinner we moved to the small inside bar. They have extensive outdoor seating across from the square where you can hear the nighly music. We were very impressed and will be back. I did not give 5s lightly.

    It's nice that there's a place open after the villages closes down. However, the bartenders are either so inept or understaffed or both that you might have to wait 20 min til you get a drink if you're even lucky enough that they notice you at their maybe only 15 seat bar. Time for more training, hopefully. Maybe potential for real bar in the villages.

    My wife and I went here while visiting my parents. We had Jen as our server. She was great! Attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. Food was tasty but a tad pricey for what we got. Some dishes were a little to "garlicky" but all-in-all, give it a try!

    I ordered paella. I received overcooked Spanish rice & chewy seafood. Mom said best with "it isn't like it was in Puerto Rico". I don't want to be mean, but our server acted like an immature child. Finally, the dishes came out staggered resulting in everyone in the party eating alone. I will not be back because of bad food & service that was WAY overpriced. I found it to be a bad dining value.

    Amazing food. Had a dinner for four and ordered six dishes, dessert and a bottle of wine. Everything was great, but would especially recommend the oxtail and scallops (if you are there during the winter, get the hot chocolate for desert...so good!). Possibly best scallops we have had in a very long time. This is tapas, so expect small plates and to share with your group, but for the quality and price, best restaurant we have visited in The Villages so far, by far.

    For those of you who visited Spain and had real Tapas, this will be a let down. If you don't know what tapas is, then this could be a treat. In Spain, it's a small morsel of dishes you can choose from the counter and one might go from bar to bar drinking and picking different dishes. Here it is a restaurant and you order from the menu and size is more like an appetizer and a price to match. You might still find interesting dishes and you'll want to have more than one tapas to choose. Am glad even the name tapas came to The Villages so we can have more variety of food.

    My wife and I decided to try the newly opened Tapas Bar in Paddock Square in Brownwood. The food was good, the service was good, but we made the mistake of ordering mohitos this time. They were awful. You'd think this type of drink would be good at a Latin restaurant. Told waitress on how bad it was, she took them back and they came back just as bad. Just because it was Happy. Hour does not mean patrons want a crappy drink with their meal. It seems this place cheapens the drinks at HH time. Probably would not return.

    New to the Villages, and a wonderful change from the main stream American fair. A taste delight, fresh, hot, properly cooked, served with simplicity, and a beverage of your liking. Though wine, or sangria is the right choice for me. The staff is still working out little problems of running this establishment, and this activity distracts Customers. Background Latin music is nice, but just a little loud. I would suggest they could do a better Sangria. Match the nice presentation of draft beer! Yes, we will return. The Villages needed your change of pace, and refreshing approach to casual dining!

    Just returned from Sweden and ate at a Tapas in Eskiltuna. This Tapas is far superior in menu, choices and price. Food is excellent. Will definitely go back.

    GREAT food and a very creative menu! We ate dinner just 10 days after they opened, and fell in love! The menu is very unique and everything we ordered arrived hot and great! The service was a bit slow - we think they are still working out the bugs. LOVED IT

    The place was nearly empty when we arrived (5:00pm) Service staff very friendly and efficient Did a good job of explaining the menu Food was OK, not great but not too bad either Will probably try it again Not sure the concept will catch on in the villages
