If you are in Lake County and craving sushi this has to be a stop. It is not the fanciest of venues but the service is always great and the food is always good. Look for the special roll of the day, try something new, and save a few bucks!

The 2 of us just came back from dining there. Had the Gyoza app and 2 rolls- Jalapeño Popper Roll and Passion Roll. Delish! We read some reviews before visiting and not all were great but hubby wanted sushi while we stayed this weekend at the Lakeview Inn. We were NOT disappointed!!!!!! Our dinner meal included a jumbo Kirin was still only $31.56 and honestly, it was a ton of food! Definitely will be back.....

I have eaten sushi all over the country on my travels and I have to say I love Lake Dora the most! The Salmon lovers combo is heavenly! The staff and owner are always very friendly.

We went on a Friday night , not busy yet after 20 minutes had to flag down waitress and ask if she was going to take our order? She replied " I was busy in the kitchen" with no apology! wtf Ordered 4 sushi rolls and have to say these were the worst! Russian roll was dry, spicy tuna bland and same with Orlando rolls, all bland . Another problem was the rice, it was not sushi grade polished sticky rice, just plain crap rice. Can't recommend this place for sushi.

Visiting in a nearby area and this came up at the top of my yelp for sushi. The food was pretty good. Loved the green muscles and the Maui roll. The owner came and greeted us at the table which is always nice. The waitress was knowledgeable and when we asked her what she recommended she steered us in the right direction. Would definitely come back next time we are here. Took a star off due to the outdated decor and the food came out kind of slow.

I have eaten here three times in the last month. It is soooo good, I'm now thinking it's the best sushi around. Just so fresh and mouth~watering!! There is a big menu but I have only tried various sushi rolls; including the New Orleans Roll (my favorite), Alaskan roll, tavares roll, Orlando roll, Russian roll, and Mt. dora Roll. The prices are no higher than Publix sushi but a million times better! Do yourself a favor and check this place out. The servers are very friendly and the sushi chef wonderful! They are closed Sunday and Monday, and Tuesday's have trivia night if that is your thing. Call ahead for a table if you have a large party and plan on playing trivia.

I have been to japan and had sushi everywhere, and I can say this place is not bad at all. It's not a five star restaurant and the service is not perfect (I was almost finished with my entree by the time the extra roll I ordered arrived), but the fish was mostly fresh and in the extra roll, the fish portion was really generous! Probably twice the amount one would get in any other sushi place. I really liked the personal artsy touches to the decor. It felt like eating at someone's hippy house. In conclusion, the best sushi I have had in lake county thus far!

Amazing! Seriously delicious! My friend and I stopped here because I it was the closest sushi place in the area. Neither of us had been there before and both walked away full and happy. We had Krab Ragoons, Shrimp Tempura roll, Fuji roll, Leesburg roll, Tavares roll, & Tempura Ice-Cream. Krab Ragoons are a MUST! They were to die for. We both agreed that our favorite roll was probably the Leesburg roll. The cucumber was very refreshing and was just perfect. The atmosphere was relaxing and quant. It was also trivia night (Monday) which was cool and it was fun to follow along with the teams. Our server was Krissy and she was super sweet and very helpful explaining the menu and the different rolls! Just a tip, check out their website prior. It has coupons and their menu posted so you can kind of get an idea of what you want prior to going.

Katsudon(pork donburi) my friend ordered looked more authentic Japanese than I see in other so called Japanese restaurants. I used to say that if owner or sushi chef is Japanese, then the Japanese food is pretty good. This is not the case anymore. I had great uni(sea urchin) sushi at Chinese run VKI in The Villages. What matters most with sushi is the freshness of fish, clams etc. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the sushi deluxe I ate here. Hope sushi lovers become more adventurous and eat not just California rolls or an equivalent but venture to real raw fish, clams etc. If the turnover of high end ingredients are fast, eventually sushi places will order better cuts etc. Italian restaurants are no longer just spaghetti and meatballs these days. Hope Japanese restaurants will have better ingredients in the future also.

Love this place. Once a week me and my friend go in for lunch. The place ifs always clean and the sushi is always fresh. Where else can you go for lunch get three rolls of sushi soup and a drink for 10 bucks. I've.never once had a bad meal or bad service.

I am not sure where you guys ate that you would take a date or say the ambiance is nice. This place is a hole in the wall dump. It is in a crappy strip mall type building all the chairs and tables are different and wobble. The service is probably the worst I have ever had at a sushi place. The girl was so slow and acted like she din't want to serve us. We ordered the same exact thing and somehow she brought out one plate that was some other thing we did not order and she said she ordered the dinner special instead and if I wanted that I could have it but I ordered 3 rolls and this was one and cost more. Um no thanks I do not want that. Then we asked for extra eel sauce which took 20 minutes to get. This place was not good. I will not be back.

I've eaten at various top notch sushi restaurants in my time and this place has quickly become one of my favorites. It's a rarity to find anything of real culture in Lake County but Lake Dora Sushi is that delicious rarity. Great food, good service, nice ambiance; I could go on. I highly recommend it especially the Passion Roll~!!!

While the food was acceptable, the service was atrocious. Despite having a 7:00pm reservation, we were unable to get food until after 8:30pm. The stir fry was only saved by using the white sauce. The owner was kind enough to buy a round of drinks for the table, but the slow kitchen turnaround time was so bad we were ready to walk out before the food finally got to the table. This will be the first and last time here.

Wonderful food, friendly service. I would give it 5 stars except the first beer we ordered they were out of. When we ordered dessert, the server forgot one of the main ingredients, coconut. Everything was delicious and there is a wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely go back.

I am very happy that Takashi & Fumiko have opened a new restaurant! Even though Lake Dora Sushi & Sake is a few miles further from my home than their old place, it is well worth the trip. Again, I feel like family when I walk through the door. The ambiance and decor are wonderful, and the view of the lake is unrivaled. And then there's the Sushi- fresh, tasty and beautiful prepared! My mouth waters thinking about the tasty and inventive rolls, and the generous portions of Sashimi and Nigiri. My wife and I have to eat here at least once a week. I travel the world for a living and have had Sushi in many countries over the years, but Lake Dora Sushi rivals any place I have been to- even in Japan. And, much like in Japan, you are a stranger but once when you come here. If you live in the area, you will become a regular here, and if you are from out of town, you will dream about coming back here. Highly recommended!

This is the best sushi in town. I have had sushi at many places, but this place beats them all. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. I will be back!

Worst experience ever at a sushi restaurant. Our server was basically absent the entire time and when asked to come by our table acted as if we were making her go out of her way. The night we were there it was in no way a packed restaurant. she even asked at the end of our meal if we were even going to tip her. The worst part which I've saved for last is that one of our friends rolls had a bug in it. They acted if we had made it up. They couldn't get it right in mt. Dora and obviously not here either!

The sushi is fresh, flavorful and artful! So many sushi restaurants now seem to just throw the ingredients together, roll them up and send it out. At Lake Dora Sushi & Sake, they still take the time to create sushi that is as beautiful as it is delicious. The Spicy Tuna hand roll is chopped just right with a nice chunkiness and the heat is perfectly matched with the cool. Ask Takashi or Ethan to make a special creation and they will. If you're anywhere in the Eustis, Tavares, Mount Dora region, Lake Dora Sushi & Sake is worth the trip and worth every penny.

Best sushi in Lake County, plus fully cooked entres and great deserts. I'm also happy to find Fumiko and Takashi again at their new location in Tavares.
