4 stars +! I lived on Jamaica for several years, when I moved to Florida I was happy to find a nearby place with a taste if the island... Curried goat (awesome) oxtail, Jerk Chicken and Red Stripe - home cooked by charming and friendly Cliff! It feels like a home away from home, pull up at the bar have a pattie and a red stripe! Awesome place, never fails me!!

Can't believe there is an authentic Jamaican place in Tarpon Springs. Seems like a a family operation from son to dad, mom and grand dad. It looks like a little shop you would find off the street in Montego Bay with some nice reggae playing in the background. I am very particular about my Jerk chicken, and I have been disappointed more than once with some of the places in Tampa. The seasoning they use here reminds me of the days I spent in Negril eating jerk chicken almost everyday. It was not as spicy as I wanted but I was told later that if I ask for it spicy they will gladly make it "Jamaican style" so I came back a few days later and they did not disappoint. I also tried the curry goat which was good, but I like Indian curry goat better, but still it was not bad. great place, will definitely be back when I'm in the area for a quick lunch.

As an Island girl a well prepared goat is very important because if you can smell the goat then its not cleaned or prepared right and this place does it RIGHT. My Boyfriend absolutely loves it here, he says the goat melts in his mouth and he has been going back since our first time here. I love their Jamaican patties because it actually authentic and has meat in it. I'm so glad Yelp helped me find this place because we hated jerk hut for their overpriced food. we always get the oxtail, curry goat, and Jamaican patties. This place is a must try!

I'm a lover of Caribbean food and I can say that the food is good here. I've tried everything on the menu except for the pork. Not always a big pork fan, period. The dishes I like best are the curry goat and chicken. The side dishes are great. The rice and peas is always moist. Good steamed cabbage, festivals, etc. I like spicy so I always ask the owner for the homemade hot sauce he keeps in the back. It's extra hot so be careful. The only thing that is a hit or miss for me here is the Jerk chicken. The flavor and the sauce is great, but sometimes the chicken can be on the dry side, but when it's moist , it's really good. Besides the food, what I also love about this place is that they serve beer.. and one of my favorites too, Guinness extra Stout .

If you like Jamaican food this is the place for quick takeout, if you like goat try it, chicken ribs plantains it's all the real deal, highly recommended for a different type of lunch

Finger-lickin awesomeness. Try everything! Pause.

Really good food! We had the jerk chicken and ribs and both were delicious although the chicken was a bit dry. The ribs were amazing! The rice and beans were a great side dish

Since the close of 'Rasta Express', it has been months I haven't had any jerk chicken. So, when I found Jerk Center at Tarpon Spring, I've got to try! The Jerk Center is on Alt 19 few blocks away from downtown Tarpon Spring. Simple diner interior presents a neat surrounding. Cliff is the owner and chef. He is from Jamaica. The shop has been opened for 3 years. Most of his business are take out. Price is reasonable. A set of Jerk lunch is around 6 dollars, including Jerk chicken, steam cabbage and rice peas. Dinner costs $ 7 to 8. We ordered 1 pound of Jerk pork, and one jerk chicken dinner to go. We sat at the bar while we were waiting, we ordered 2 red-stripe beers and had good chat with Cliff. The total bill was $ 28 (one third is the cost of the beers). Since it was our first visit, Cliff gave us a piece of Rum Cake to try. Home made no doubt and the real thing it is! Jerk pork is delicious. Meat is tender and full of flavor. We asked Cliff to give us extra Jerk sauce. It certainly add the punch. Jerk chicken is authentic! Dark meat is the best. Jamaican food is spicy! Although Cliff had tuned it down, but to customers who are not used to hot spicy food, you are forewarned! They serve fresh made fish dish on Friday and Saturday. Quick fried whole fish covered with Escoveitch sauce is a traditional dish in Jamaica. Great flavor for those who loves fish, but if you don't know how to eat fish with millions bones inside, I suggest you to pass. Cliff also serve oxtail soup, curry goat, brown stews chicken. Judged by the Jerk chicken I've tried, I have no doubt the rest of dishes are as authentic as I had in Jamaica. You may not familiar with those dishes, but I tell you, they are good and rich. Once you give them a chance, you will get hooked. Well, the football season is approaching. I am thinking to throw some surprise to the accustomed food when hubby's buddies come to the house watching games. 2 pound of jerk pork and chicken will keep the boys well behaved!

This was pretty amazing, beef patties (mild and spicy) were perfect. Jerk chicken (dark meat) was also perfect, chicken was not over cooked and flavored just right. I'll be back to try more soon.......

I am currently chewing up what's called a festival. I love this place and my boyfriend and I come whenever we're in town! Oxtail was fun to try and was my first time trying. Interesting, sort of tastes like beef stew to me! Curry chicken is also worth a try, as well as jerk chicken. Overal wonderful and great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Try it!

I went last week for evening meal because of good review.I ordered the jerk chicken and waited for ten minutes. when I tried on chicken, it is not warm and tasted like they are reheat the chicken in the microwave. its Not Freshï¼I admit that sause is ok though. also tried beef Patty. To my surprise, it seems that they use very low quality ground beef to make the patty since it doesn't taste like beef at all.dont know why a lot of people give them five star though..Not sure if I wanna try that again...

After reading some reviews on Yelp, we checked out the Jerk Center and ordered Brown Stew Chicken and Jerk Pork. They indicated they were out of Jerk Perk, but had Jerk Chicken left, so I tried that instead. We both loved our chicken dishes servied with rice and cabbage. The service was great and the prices were very reasonable. If you want to try some good Carribean food, this place fits the bill!

I have been wanting to try Jerk Chicken for quite a while, and during a recent trip to Florida spotted this place while driving through Tarpon Springs. I immediately decided I was going to give it a try. What can I say that has not already been said. The depth of flavor in his Jerk Chicken is phenomenal. From the delicate, but rich smoke flavor, to the just right amount of spice, jerk rub, it all blends together in a well layered flavorful bite. The side of red beans and rice with his red sauce is nearly just as good. This is the type of food that makes you feel warm and homey inside, even if your home isn't in Jamaica. I can't recommend this place enough.

This is a small place with Jamaican decor and music which is fun. The food is good and the prices are pretty great. I would definitely go back here again. The only downfall - the location leaves something to be desired .
(4)Lori L.
I went there for lunch. We had a meat patty, curried goat, and oxtail. The food was excellent. Both the goat and the oxtail were fall off the bone tender. The sauce for the goat was good and unique to the oxtail. We had the spicy meat patty and it had a nice bite...not hot if you like hot food...but a good flavorful bite. The staff was very friendly- the food came out hot and fast. Small place...maybe hard to spot if you are not on the look out for it. I will go back again and would recommend it.

Super Friendly service! The food is off the hook! I had the jerk pork and it was very tasty. I would come visit again if I'm ever in the area.

Wow!! Great food. Had the JC jerk pork. Amazing. Will be back.

This place is soooo good. Lots of local Jamaicans frequenting the place while we were there (always a good sign). I had the Jerk Pork and Mom had the brown stew chicken and we shared a vegetable pie and the the rum cake. Red Stripes to accompany highly recommended! I'll be back EVERY trip down to Florida to visit the family.

Excellent. Thanks to Yelp for helping me find this little gem on my recent trip to Clearwater. My jerk pork was great. My dining partner had a chicken dish in a brown sauce that was truly sublime. Simple restaurant, affordable, great food, friendly service...excellent combination. I wish this restaurant the best of luck and will see you again soon.

I love this place! This diner needs to be on the Food Network! I love the service.. they make you feel like a close friend - it's just that genuine. The food is so flavorful and ethnic. This place is just amazing

Delicious!!! Great sauces to put on the jerk chicken!!

I tried goat for the first time about a year ago. I prepared it myself, and it was not very good. Thank goodness I gave it another chance at a place that knows how to prepare it correctly. The Jerk Center fits the definition of a hole in the wall establishment. The floral chairs may not have you coming back, but the food darn sure will. The goat curry was equisit, and the JC jerk wings were not too shabby either. The seasoning really stands out, and I have now tasted the full potential of goat. Fast, friendly service, great food, and fair pricing. Worth checking out of you're in the area and craving something a bit different.

My husband and I had the oxtail and jerk chicken both with rice and peas and cabbage. The oxtail was very good, it was tasty and the gravy was rich and savory. I loved that they use dumpling in their oxtail instead of butter beans like most Jamaican restaurants. The rice and peas were good but I found the portion of cabbage to be kind of small. Now on to the not so good... My jerk chicken was flavorful and topped with a nice tangy sauce but it was extremely dry and overcooked. The jerk chicken did not taste like it was just pulled off of a grill the way jerk chicken should taste. It taste like it was cooked earlier, refrigerated and then reheated in a microwave. The temperature was also not very hot. Because I also got white meat chicken, it being so dry made parts of it very very hard to swallow. Would have given it 4 stars if the review was based on the oxtail dish alone.

Best Jamaican food hands down! Patties are perfect on the way to Howard beach, or get an entree to go on the way back home, the jerk seasoning is the perfect blend of delicate & heat. Prices are reasonable too!

I'll cut right to the chase: I'm a foodie and this was the best meal I had during my 4 days in Tampa, that includes some excellent USDA prime steaks that my buddy BBQd (sorry Paul). I've been living in Panama City, Panama for the past 5 years and I don't get to satisfy my West Indian cravings too often so I dragged my friend to some strip mall in the middle of Tarpon Springs / Nowhere based on the excellent but few Yelp reviews. We got there late so unfortunately the patties were done for the day. I had the jerk pork with oxtail gravy for the rice & beans and my buddy had the oxtail. Both are definitely among the very best I've ever had. The pork was very nicely cooked, and obviously of excellent quality. The oxtail was beautiful - tender, and all nice pieces of meat and entire bone, good to the last drop. I'm giving 4* because I didn't get to try the patties. That'll learn you, Cliff. The room isn't pretty, but the service made me feel like a regular customer even though it was my first and possibly last time for at least a while. They deserve more than a handful of reviews. Go there. Order what I had, or maybe the curry goat, which I'll get if I make it out there again. You'll leave happy, having paid very little for a great meal.

Didn't expect such a nice place in this little town. I am from Miami and I'd say this place is superior than most I've tried back home. Friendly service, flavorful dishes. Even the cabbage side is so delicious we ordered an extra plateful of it. We love the curry goat and the jerk pork the best, but nothing is bad on the menu. Definitely a gem! And a nice change if you get tired of all the Greek food.
(5)Chris C.
Excellent! the atmosphere is great, the food is delicious. I always get the jerk chicken, but people I know have gotten the ribs, pork, ox tail, and never a complaint. very impressed! give it a try
(5)Shanada K.
Service sucked they are rude That sucks cause I was really in the mood for Jamaican food.
(1)Zee A.
Probably best goat curry I've ever had. Great ox tail also. Great basic Jamaican food
(5)Nick S.
This small Jamaican Restaurant offers no pretensions. It's decorated simply with Jamaican photographs and other memorabilia. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. They are happy to help share the cuisine. The Jamaican offerings we've had have all been very tasty! We've tried two kinds of patties, jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtail, and various beverages. This is a fun and authentic place to explore. Enjoy and relax mOn. Ire!!! They have specials including ecovitch fish which they sometimes offer.
