Really good Mexican Style food in a very casual atmosphere. Counter ordering, they bring to your table. Good value, though portions have eroded over the years. Turnover has been hard on this restaurant, so it's difficult to get to know one manager, then on your next visit, there is a new face again. Same with the staff. Service is fair, it's hard to keep mostly young girls, interested in their work. Great place for Lunch. Really nice hot sauces collection to choose from, though that too, has dwindled. Try it, you'll like it. Have a beer and relax.

Pros: Great Mexican food. Numerous hot sauces Cons: Limited beer selection and only frozen margaritas...c'mon Details: Almost everything on the menu is delish. The Flautas, in my opinion are the best of the best! The hot sauce bar will leave you chuckling at first and then might burn your tongue if you're not careful :) So many flavors and different "spicyness" intensities...you will keep coming back for more. Just don't splurge on the hot sauces as some of them are truly kicka$$ hot.

I was in the mood for some good Mexican food on a Sunday night and was pleasantly suprised with Tijuana Flats. I ordered the Carnitas Enchaladas and would give it 5 stars. Not too saucy like many Enchaladas elsewhere and the carnitas was abundant and tasty. Highly recommended!

You cannot go wrong at Tijuana Flats. They have awesome food which is freshly prepared and never disappoints. The big draw for me is that they have a "hot sauce bar" that includes at least a dozen varieties of heat from manufacturers all across the country including some house brands. They even have their own hot sauce distribution business and have a menu of hard to find sauces you can either buy in the store or order from them. I am a hot food lover, and I always leave this place with a smile on my face, and some sweat on my brow.

This place is great! Great patio, Great food, great staff. The Ultimate Nachos will feed an army (well maybe half of an army). They have the best tacos too! Soft or hard shell either way they're great and packed with stuff. They serve beer and frozen drinks to wash it down with. Since I found this concept, I find myself looking for them where ever I go. Try it you'll like it!

Customers of various Tijuana Flats locations for 13 years. We went to this location over Labor Day weekend. While the staff was pleasant and attentive this place has serious problems in the kitchen. Both my granddaughter and I ordered Chicken Quesadillas (the only food we had in common that day). We both became very sick after eating our meals. I have filed a complaint with the State of Florida DHR and sent a letter to Brad Kaemmer, CEO of Tijuana Flats, hopefully the issues will get resolved soon so they don't get other customers sick. If they can't get food safety right they have major issues. We will no longer be visiting any restaurants in this chain.

Parking: Shared with other businesses in the mall area. I've been here a few times, expected to have some trouble parking, but have always found a space right in front. This is a walk up to the counter, order, sit down, and your meals are brought to you. Service: Very good. Smiles. Our chips and salsa was brought out quickly after ordering. The meals not too long after that. We were there about 40 minutes and were asked 3-4 times if we wanted our drinks refilled. Food: I had a Chimichanga with beef. topping included the sour cream, tomatoes, and jalepenos. Great taste including the fried wrapped tortilla. Done very well. The chips and salsa were slightly above average. Return: yupp. will do so.

Why 1 Star? When you compare this location to the one in New Port Richey, it's night and day. We were greeted at the door, beyond that it was all down hill. Our meal came out incorrect and the food was barely warm. The re-fire seemed to take longer than the original food that came out. Seemed to be a lot of staff on the clock, but all of them were giggling and having fun behind the register and not out on the floor. I had to get up 2x and get my own refills since there was not any staff checking on the guests. Dirty tables around the restaurant during 1/2 of my visit. Love the franchise, but disappointed at this visit. I'll take the extra drive to NPR.

First time there. It was just what I expected (which is not a bad thing) except there's only beer and sangria and no Margaritas. We had the chips and guacamole, chicken tostadas and chicken chimichangas and churros for desert. The food was good, borderline great but not awesome. The staff was very friendly and energetic. The only bad thing was that the churros where a bit overcooked and hard. Overall, it was a good enough 3.5 to get a 4 instead of a 3.

First time trying this place and I must say not bad. Food was good and for the price can't complain out the door 10$. two things that put it over the top for me is one friendly staff and two the fact they have a hot sauce bar. If your a hot sauce person you must try this place. I will be going back

The staff is always friendly and helpful. They have the best fresh food Mexican style around. Tuesday's are kinda crazy with Taco Tuesday but the price is right. Just wear shoes that protect your toes from the brats. I love the chopped ice that makes any drink better and your beer colder. This place is great for meeting friends and having a few drinks and cheap good food.

It used to be an awesome location, however in the past year it's gotten to be a joke to get your order the way you ask for it. After the second week in a row of them ignoring my request for no jalapeños on my burrito and serving my vegetarian husband a beef and bean burrito in place of his vegetarian/bean burrito, we decided we're not going back.

WEAK ASS Burrito!! I got the carnitas but you wouldn't know it as there was only about two bites of pork in there, maybe 3 jalapenos, 1 piece of onion, and maybe 2 pieces of tomato. The rice and beans were ok but I only got one small little spoonful of each. Very disappointed with the small portions. Not worth the expensive prices AT ALL. Save your money and go to a REAL Mexican place where they actually give you a full meal for half the price.
we love this place. all the girls that work there are cute, friendly and extremely helpful. the portions are perfect, the decor is out of this world. restaurant was clean, plenty of parking, beer options, and great weekday deals.

First let me say I can NOT speak of the food or even the alcohol. I arrived, found the menus and immediately someone was there to take my order. The menu is a bit deceptive and it was my first time so I wanted to read the 1 page wonder. The server delivered my water right away and then disappeared for the next 20 minutes and I waited. The gentleman at the counter, possibly the manager got involved in a lengthy discussion, with 3 teen age girls about what the 3 of them could order that wouldn't be too much and wouldn't be too little, but would be just right. Did I mention the restaurant was empty except for me and the 3 young ladies that were together? Did I mention the server did not point out anything about the menu? Did I mention, long after I had mad my selection, I had time to peruse a competitor's menu and make a selection from their menu? Did I mention, I have had this restaurant bookmarked and have really wanted to go there for quite some time? Did I mention Tampa has far too many good restaurants to sit in an empty one for 20 minutes and not have your order taken? What's a girl to do? I guess it will remain bookmarked and I might get around to revisiting the establishment.

This location of Tijuana Flats is on my usual rotation of great places for a quick bite and they have expanded their Taco Tuesdaze and now offer specials on other days as well. Not a huge help to me, as I prefer their tacos to nearly every other menu option, but a good thing for those of us watching our dollars. Service at this location has been quick and friendly, with one or two servers circling the dining area offering refills and checking in on the diners. The only miss I've ever had here was late on a Taco Tuesdaze when the kitchen ran out of corn hard taco shells. The place was packed that night and my order took a bit of time. When my tacos arrived, they were in fried flour tortilla shells - which were not very good. But I have to give TF major props for good customer care. I flagged down a staff member and expressed my unhappiness that I wasn't told they'd run out of shells - as I'd have ordered soft tacos. From the look on his face, I was not the first to be unhappy with their "make do" solution and he whisked my tacos away, no questions asked, and was back shortly with 2 soft beef tacos. It made for a longer dinner stop than I was planning on, but I really appreciated their responsiveness and making the best of what could have been a bad situation. I'm always interested to see how places handle mistakes and problems, as any place can offer good service when everything goes right but you really see the character of a place when things start going wrong. Well played, TF.

I really love Tijuana's menu and the story behind the store and their belief in fresh ingredients, hormone free chicken, and their light, wheat, and fat free options. I also love love their "Smack My Sweet Ass and Call me Sally" sauce. SO good. Because they originated it Tampa, it doesn't bother me so much they are a chain. I'd recommend anyone checking this place out.

The food was very good. The service was good as well. It was very busy on New Year's Eve afternoon and the staff managed the business well. The parking was a pain in the butt because they have a lot of popular places in this this same strip mall. The restaurant was clean and all of the food was delivered exactly as we ordered it. We had six kids with us and they were very patient with the kids and they refilled drinks frequently. I would suggest this restaurant if you are in the area. It might take you a few minutes to find parking, but the food order will be filled quickly. The burritos and the queso were YUMMMMYYYY! The queso is a yellow queso. The chips are seasoned with salt and pepper and this adds a little variety to the typical Mexican restaurant chip. They do have kids meals available for $4.99. My kids loved it!

I have been here regularly for the past couple years; food is reasonable and consistent. I go mostly for the hot sauce bar since the varieties are swapped out regularly so that keeps it interesting. Have to say the one disappointing thing is you get very little meat with both the burritos and especially the quesadillas, which feel like you just got a chese quesadilla with some chicken sprinkles added. I end up paying extra for double meat and it's still probably about the same as a regular Chipotle serving. This has lead me to typically go to Moes or Chipotle more often than not in the past year.

One of my local guilty pleasure spots where I can chow down on a burrito with chips and salsa, and get out without dropping a bundle of cash. Tijuana Flats (or TJF) and I have known each other for years, and I've had the pleasure of eating in many of their fine establishments. This particular TJF is located on N. Dale Mabry in the Publix shopping center located just north of Bush Boulevard and Linebaugh Avenue in southern Carrollwood. TJF's is not the most authentic Mexican joint on the block, but it is known for fast, fresh food served in a fun atmosphere. When you walk in the front door your eyes zoom around at all of the crazy fluorescent colors and wild artwork on the walls and ceiling, and then you're greeted by one of their friendly servers who offers you a menu to read as you wait in line to place your order. If the line is especially long they will serve you your drink while you continue to wait. You place your order and pay at the counter, and then they'll bring your food to you once it is made. Everything is made to order. TJF's menu has the usual assortment of nachos, quesadillas, burritos, tacos, chimichangas, flautas, and salad bowls. You have the choice of steak, beef, chicken, carnitas, and a wide variety of veggie options. The toppings and sides seem to be endless, so you'll need a moment to decide what to order -- unless you happen to be a regular. In my case, I went with the old standby -- Tijuana Burrito with blackened chicken, all the way with the toppings, and make it wet with salsa verde. You can also make it a meal with rice & beans (black beans or refried), or just have it as is with a side of corn tortilla chips. I also add a side of their red salsa, and then doctored everything up at my beloved hot sauce bar. The bar has about a dozen hot sauces ranging from mild (those would be the ones with the smiley faces on the label) all the way up to the extremely hot (those would be the ones with the black face of death labels). Each sauce is offered in a pump bottle and you squirt about an ounce into a paper serving cup before moving on to your next selection. Each has a playful name on the label to give you a hint of what you're about to experience. You can start with the house special "Smack my ass and call me Sally", and then work your way up through the various habanero blends until you reach the "Flaming Ring of Fire" -- well, to be truthful, that would be MY nickname for that particular blend of intestinal inferno. The music is rocking and the crowd is always energized. The food is great, and it's a terrific place to kick back on the weekend and enjoy a cold cerveza or two with your burrito.

Awful! To go order was cold and incorrect. Ordered a beef taco and a chicken taco and received two chicken tacos and each taco literally had one tiny square of chicken in each! My husbands chicken salad was the same thing ONE PIECE OF DIME SIZED CHICKEN! My sons beef taco was swimming in orange grease when I opened the container and cold. Sit down service is hopefully better though I doubt we will be back.

Not impressed! Fowler Ave location is MUCH cleaner and better atmosphere. This location also had an overwhelming moldy bar smell. The beef tacos are amazing, as is the hot sauce bar. Fresh chips tasted good but hated the handmade salsa, very plain tomato taste. The food is very good but if you have the chance, go to a different location! Just to throw in there; Another reviewer mentioned this is a step above Taco Bell, and I would have to agree. It is not very authentic but it's edible.

I thoroughly enjoyed this place. The atmosphere is pretty lively and the eclectic decorations are vibrant & fun. You order at the window, have a seat, and get your food sered hot & fast. They have a huge hot sauce bar. Their queso is delicious, burritos huge, flautas mmm, and atom bombs are amazing.

Nothing to complain about here at all! Love the food and the sweet tea. I love the fact they don't put Cilantro in everything like that other burrito place. The hot sauce bar is great, even for my weak palate and I love the ceiling tiles to make the place more tied to the community! My only suggestion...bring back Throwback Thursdays!

TDawg T.
The chicken is way better quality here than at chipotle but I could have used more than 2 pieces in my taco. Also 5 different people dropped by my table in a 10 minute period to ask me how I was doing: thank you but once is enough y'all! I hate saying it's all good with a mouth full of food....4 times. On the flipside staff were friendly and positive and that's very very nice. I would choose this place over chipotle any day!

Come for the burritos, stay for the ice. I know it's ridiculous to even say, but they have the best ice ever here. I am not alone on this opinion. The ice even has its own Fan Page on Facebook. I've been coming to Tijuana Flats since my college days. Every location I've been to has a great atmosphere and is full of friendly people who seem to love working there. Here's the thing. This is not the best, most authentic Mexican food you will ever eat. It is trumped by my beloved Chipotle in the fast food Mexican chain category. BUT, I still regularly come here, and here's why: - THE ICE - "Power lite" option on any menu item: whole wheat tortilla, light sour cream and light cheese. I can eat lunch here during the week and not slip into a food coma upon returning to work. - Large variety on menu with pretty much every form of Mexican you could ever want. Which is nice when you want something other than a burrito. - Awesome staff - My unofficial research has proven orange soda with Tijuana Flats ice cures hangovers.

I've eaten here several times. The food is okay. Not bad, but not particularly spectacular either. The thing that really annoys me is that they have to point out to every-single-person-that-walks-through-the-door about the hot sauce bar. Yeah, we get it.

I'm a fan of all items I've tried at T-Flats, with the exception of this most recent visit. I don't think it was because of Tijuana Flats, though. I was on a diet so I ordered the low-cal taco salad with blackened chicken and citrus vinaigrette. Next time, I'll just visit T-Flats on my cheat day because the low cal option isn't even worth it when there are so many more other yum yums to be had.

Delicious food fun atmosphere and a great time. I say I enjoyed myself enough that I will definitely be going back. I'm not a big chain food person but this is so good you wouldn't want to believe it was a chain. The Hot Bar is the place to start your meal. Be Sure to try their Green Sauce - It's so flavorful and not overly hot. The wet burrito is a meal in itself.

One of the best Mexican food places around! You can't go wrong with anything here. If your a fan of hot sauces then this is your place, they have a very good selection ranging from mild-hot as hell! They also change them up each month, which sucks if they take the one you like away. Chimichanga is my favorite. There jalapenos however are rubbery and not good at all. Great Place and definitely recommended

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Never found a bad one, every new Tijuana Flats I enter, I enjoy. Love the chicken chimi and smack my ass sauce! I get it without lettuce but EVERYTHING ELSE! My fiancée gets it with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream. And of course she likes the smack my ass and call me sally sauce too! Tijuana Flats is kinda like an upgrade on Qdoba or Chipotle. They have a better selection, more like a Mexican Restaurant, but you still wait in line to order. They do have beer, that is a plus, but the ambiance is really what makes Tijuana Flats better than and different than its competition. Fun and hip with vibrant colors and crazy decor, this place will bring the kid right out of you! What really sets Tijuana flats top notch is the sauces, The smack my ass sauce is always gonna be a pleaser, but their are so many different choices, and lots are really hot and spicy. The smack my ass sauce is not spicy, much more sweet, but when I need to mix it up and get some spice, I can utilize their handy sauce color coding and find whatever hotness I need. With the insane sauce selection, you have endless combinations. Service was fast and friendly, even for a crowded Friday night. Tijuana Flats is fun and filling and you should have a blast at this location.

I usually love Tijuana Flats, but this location needs some major cleaning. It always smells bad near the registers and it is just seems dirtier than the other Tijuanas I have been to. Hopefully they can get some help!

Good food but the girl with the shaved head is extremely rude and should not be a server, she should find a job where she doesn't have to interact with people.
