Simple and elegant setting, good service and flavorful dishes ! It was my first time trying frog legs, and it still makes my mouth water, years later!

We started with the chicken rice soup which I was a little hesitant about but it ended up being absolutely delicious. I got the chicken fried rice which was pretty good but it shocks me how much restaurants have cut down on how much rice they give in the past couple of years! My mother got the shrimp fried rice which promised to have basil in the menu but she didn't get any basil leaves and she was pretty upset. When we asked they said that the shrimp spicy fried rice (which was listed in the same exact line as the shrimp fried rice) comes with basil and hers does not. It wasn't obvious in the menu and they really should fix that or at least point out the difference between two dishes if they're going to be listed in the same line in the daily lunches special. Overall, the quality and taste of the food was good but the lack of basil leaves made my mom pretty upset!

This Thai restaurant does everything right! Crispy spring rolls served with a delicious sauce, coconut chicken soup that is full of flavor and Tofu in chili sauce that is perfectly spicy but not hot! The Amazing Chicken entree is yummy too. The service is friendly, fast and efficient. You will love the food, atmosphere and service. I'll return often.

This my frequent lunch place. Today we have an office lunch at this restaurant at Christmas Eve. The reservation was very easy today since there is not much of customer. Most if the people is off today from work, as a result, it is easy to get reservation. Usually this place is pack with people at lunch time. Today we have 11 people in a group. The waiter took our order in less 2.5 minute. I have order the garlic pepper squid with Thai hot. The lunch here is a combo with the soup and appetizer. The soup is chicken rice clear soup. The chicken was marinate and process before it put on the soup. I always like chef to make an extra step of food process. As a result, the chicken is a bit salty when you separate from the soup but not overpower the soup taste. I usually don't like plain chicken that was not process. The chef here did a good job. The appetizer is the crab Rangoon (fried wanton skin wrap the ground pork). It came with see Thai chili dipping sauce. The main course is the squid in Galicia pepper. I like they prepare the pepper burn in high heated oil with garlic. This make the flavor enhance and great to eat. The restaurant majority of the food including some sweetness to the taste except this dish and a few dish are salt base. Overall the service is good and the food is good. If you have group, please call ahead before lunch. This place easy fill up.

Real good food and good service. Portions are huge! Average price of a meal about $18 p.p. Will come back.

The food was ok. However, the service did't seem as professional as it should be, the area was a little stuffy, and two times I wanted to order something but they then told me it was sold out. It should of been told to me when I was given the menu.

Delicious. Best Thai in Tampa! Great lunch special! i hope this place is still open and still just as delicious. What ever you do make sure that you try the Thai Tea! yummmmm!!! the lunch spacial is so worth it, you get an app, entree, and even mini donuts as dessert. The servers are friendly and the service is quick. their decor is also amazing!!

This is my another my favorite place that I have to stop by every time I am in the area. Great food with very reasonable price, nice atmosphere and very relaxing with a nice music. I love all the food here especially the double tornado which is big and super yummy in a green curry sauce. The pad thai here is tasty than others that i tried before. For lunch They are kinda busy all the time I stop by but it is worth to wait for a good food great taste and very good deal. Love it!!!!

I love the food here. Taste is spot on if you are ordering the curries...the thing that I hate how big they cut the chicken pieces and how it becomes so hard. I always keep coming back to Thai Ruby just because of the taste and not the chicken. Its always tough and chewy. I found it smelly 1-2 times too but the were consistent with the taste. Hope someone from Thai Ruby reads this and change their way they use their chicken. Its in the same complex as Fushia, Sushi Tsu and Peabody

Overall, a really good Thai restaurant. Me being a Thai food enthusiast (minus the curry part), is currently partaking in a mini journey to find the best Pad Thai out of having to buy a ticket to Thailand. I've had my fair share of pad thai around Tampa and most of them fell far short of my ultimate favorite one in my hometown of Pittsburgh. However, I've finally found an amazing, authentic, and affordable Thai restaurant in North Tampa. Plus, it's only a mile from my house in an overlooked plaza. Good portions and fresh veggies. Also it's pretty saucy, which I'm always a fan of. Nothing is worse than dried up rice noodles with a hint of pad thai sauce sticking together. I think this place is worth a try for anyone in the area.

Delicious thai food!!... The soft shell crab is just awesome!!.. It is a little far from downtown or south Tampa, but If you are in the area it is a great option!!... I really like this place!!

I recently moved back to Wesley Chapel after 6 years and was so pleased to see that Thai Ruby was still open. The food is just as good as I remember. Especially the Pork with garlic sauce...and their crab rangoon! The c.r. is so different than anywhere else I've eaten it. Yum yum yum. They offer brown rice which I love, and have great prices for lunchtime. If you're looking for a totally unhealthy (but worth every calorie) treat, get the thai donuts for dessert. (Ask for the sauce on the side) Staff is super friendly, and the restaurant decor is neat. Cool booths with pillows (decorated Asian style). Very happy to be back in the area and worth the drive down for the food every time.

I have eaten here for lunch once and gotten take out several times, the food is always great. This is some of the best Thai food I've had anywhere. Tom Yum Goon is my favorite soup and its better here than anywhere else I've had it. The amazing sauce is good on...probably anything, I know the amazing beef and chicken are very tasty, beef is my favorite and they come with tons of veggies. If you dine in for lunch you get a nice chicken and rice soup in a garlic broth along with a fried wonton and a Thai donut for free. The tom kha soup is so good here, even just with veggies, the broth is so flavorful(try to get it at least a little spicy, heat makes this soup so much better). I have also had the massaman chicken curry here, another of my favorite Thai foods, and it was on point as was the Nom Sod, also one of my go to dishes. I've also split the volcano shrimp and the snapper lad prig before because both dishes are huge it would be hard for someone to take them down solo. The sauce that comes with the snapper lad prig is so good I could probably drink it. The volcano shrimp was different than I expected but delicious. It came with not only jumbo shrimp but a fried softshell crab, scallops, muscles, scored squid, and tons of veggies in a sweet chile type sauce for under 20 bucks. Bottom line if you like Thai food you must go here, you don't know what your missing.

This is by far the best Thai food in Tampa! I have been eating at this location for about 10 years and is one of my favorite places to eat! Lunch is the best deal - soup and side plus main course and donuts for desert about 8 bucks.

Finally I found a good Thai restaurant in Tampa area. Cozy thai atmosphere and decor. The waiter was genuinely friendly, strong delicious Thai ice tea, I ordered the chicken red curry and my husband ordered the panang curry chicken, both were delicious and authentic. This place is definitely going to be on list of favorite Thai restaurant.

I can't give a negative review otherwise I will rate this thai restaurant the worst in the country! Bad!Bad! Really bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Jiackie L.

This one star only means I can't review zero or below. They charge u 18% service fee when u get 6 or more people!!!!!! The food are not really good taste, but really in not reasonable price. The scallop dish is $19 with 7 piece! The manager got vey rude when we question about the 18%, even it is their fault to miscalculate the price!

Awesome lunch, had the panang chicken and it was great! The food came out blazing fast and the wait staff was friendly.

The service here is really sucks!!!!! The food here sucks too!!!! The worse is they charge us extra fees without any reason!!!! If we didn't calculate the price by ourselves, we couldn't find this ridiculous problem!!!! I suggest everyone double check your bill before you pay it!!!!

Had a great lunch of chicken pumpkin curry for $8.95. That came with a soup, a fried wonton, and a Thai doughnut. I also had a pot of Jasmine tea. Out the door for $11 and even had leftovers. The service is always fabulous. I prefer lunch to dinner here because I feel it`s a better value, but it's always delicious!

When I worked in Temple Terrace last year, this became my favorite spot to eat for lunch. The panang curry was fantastic and very reasonable. I was completely satisfied for $10.70. The staff were incredibly hard working, courteous and professional. I really enjoyed the ambiance as well. The only issue I had was the cell phone reception (Sprint) - which there was none. However I do not believe that is a bad thing (or should impact their score negatively) - only something to be aware of if you visit their location. A must go if you are in the area.

I've been to a fair few Thai restaurants and definitely have a sense of what makes good Thai food (at least in terms of Thai restaurants in the US, as I've never been to Thailand... yet). We had take-out, so I can't really say much about the restaurant, though I did like the low-key lighting and the vibe of the place. Plus, my sister and I battled over who would pay for it and the hostess deferred to me "The gentleman, please." Ha! Anyway, the food is high quality and very flavorful. We had the shrimp pad thai, Gai Larb, fresh spring rolls (aka salad rolls), pineapple fried rice, and tofu red curry (ordered "Thai hot"). Everything had bright, fresh color and was well-prepared. Nothing was wilted, stale, or bland. For my taste, the "Thai hot" could have been hotter (didn't even break a sweat!) and the portions could have been larger. The bill came to around $57 and we didn't really have any leftovers, though given the quality of the ingredients and the food, I suppose the prices are fair.

Love this place! Great food, especially for lunch deals, and the servers are always very polite and accommodating. Also, unlike other Thai restaurants, you don't get charged extra for extra portions of rice when you dine in. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated Thai style and there are nice restrooms, but they also do take out in about 20 minutes, which is nice if you live close tot be area. Try the tom yum soup!

The food is very good, but my wife and I were rushed out the last time we were there. It was not even close to closing time. I think that they need to work on their customer service skills. Otherwise, a place to get "decent" Thai food.

Poor service (I was not checked on during my entire meal) and unfriendly waitress (even after I mentioned this was my first visit). Also disappointing to be charged extra for a vegetable other than a bell pepper. Food tasted okay (nothing to call my girlfriends about)

This place is nestled in a strip mall next to an Asian bistro and a head shop. From the outside, the place is unassuming. The inside is decorated very well and the booths include fancy pillows I ordered the wonton soup and the spicy chicken with peppers. The soup was extremely flavorful and orders of magnitude better than what you would find at a typical Asian restaurant. The portions of meat on the entree were generous and it was seasoned to perfection.

First off let me say my wife loves Thai especially green curry chicken. So wherever we go she orders this and after eating it here she declared it was the best green curry in Tampa. I had the spicy shrimp dinner really tasty not spicy but tasty. The only thing I didn't like was they left the tails on so it was hard to eat when it was hot. The Thai tea was sweet but not so much that you were pinging the rest of the night. The staff was friendly and made several recommendations that we will be trying next time or well I'll be trying while Susan sticks with the green curry.

Pleasant atmosphere, tasty food, tiny portions. I probably won't return due to the latter; I'm used to bigger portions at Asian restaurants.

Had lunch there this afternoon with some colleagues. Decor is typical Thai restaurant, but very clean, spacious and nice. Food is the star and the prices. The food is presented so beautifully that you eat with your eyes first and then everything else. I did not signify a spice level as they did not ask, and yet the dish was perfect. Not too hot and not too bland. The dish had such fresh ingredients, that many I have never seen in real life before. I think most Thai places put dehydrated things and they put the real deal. Just beautiful. Perfect symphony of flavors. We went during lunch time and their lunch menu is steller. For just 7 or 9 dollars you get a small appetizer, soup, main entree and a yummy dessert. The yummy dessert is deep fried batter with some sugar and nuts. It is so delicious that I just wanted to eat it all. I may go to this location just for the dessert but may end up getting a whole meal. A definite repeat on a weekly basis type of place!

The pumpkin curry salmon was really an interesting and great taste. Very good soup. The service was prompt. The atmosphere was Thai.

The reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because once we came in and I ordered some fish dish and the fish was so unbelievably bad that I had to send it back (I hardly ever send food back, it has to be really really bad). All the other times we've been here the food has been great. The prices are on par with comparable restaurants in the area in regards to ambience, quality of food, and service. During lunch, they give you a free dessert. The dessert is these crescent moon shaped fried donuts and a sweetened condensed milk dipping sauce. Totally yum. Also, this place seriously knows how to make tasty spicy food, so if you ask for spicy, be prepared for some real heat, they won't hold back.

Been going for years when I visit the in-laws. Consistently good food (I'm partial to spicy pad thai, but the rest of my family gets others items off the menu). Great decor. One star off for being in a strip mall, but other than that, this place has the best Thai around.

One of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been too. Service has declined over the years, but the food is still excellent.

Have only been here once so far and ordered the Chicken Panang. The portions are a bit on the small side but the seasoning and flavors were really good. I would definitely come back here again. Great decor and service is good as well.

Been to Thai Ruby many times and they always have great food at reasonable prices. If you get the spice tray be careful and do not over do the crushed peppers, HOTTTT!!

I have only been here once, with coworkers. Based on their recommendation, I ordered the salmon and pumpkin curry, which sounded strange but was actually extremely delicious. Another coworker ordered a whole fish dish, and the other one got pad thai. The dishes were beautifully presented and quite tasty. Dishes were moderately priced (I think between $8-15 per entree, depending on what you get). I would go again.

Great Thai food here, they have a very friendly staff and their food is very good. I came at lunch time and I was surprised at how much food comes with lunch. I ordered a Pad Thai, Thai hot with beef and it as mouth numbingly good. I love that they have a nice spice tray also so you can add more spice if you wish. The lunch came with a bowl of soup and a fried wonton which was a great way to start my meal and to keep my lunch time hunger at bay. They also give a fried Thai donut with condensed milk for dessert, I wasn't expecting it and it was a pleasant surprise ending to a great meal.

Went here for quick lunch break with some classmates. The place is nestled in the complex with LA Fitness. They had a decent lunch menu, not to expensive either (~$7.50). They had the typical thai dishes like curry, pad thai, stir-fry, etc. Each lunch special comes with a fired wonton/chicken soup appetizer and thai donuts for dessert. I decided to go with the Pad Thai. I always enjoy a good pad thai. To me a good pad thai has a balance if flavors. This one wasn't bad, but they put way too much sauce. Each bite was too tasty in my opinion. I would probably ask for less sauce next time when I order it. I would probably come back to try other items on the lunch special since its not a bad deal, but won't be a regular place to eat for me.

I love Thai food, and love to cook it also. So I am a bit picky about how it is prepared. I stopped by Thai Ruby for lunch, based on the reviews. I found good service, traditional decor, and a nice ambiance. I ordered my standby, Thai Green Curry... and asked if the soup that is included could be upgraded to the Tom Kha Gai (Chicken Coconut Curry soup), and was told no substitutions unfortunately (I was willing to pay more if needed). So I stuck with the house soup. It came shortly, and was quite good... a clear, garlicky chicken broth with bits of chicken and some rice. The Green Curry was well presented, and tasty.. although much sweeter than I am used to in Green Curry.. and very little heat (and since Green Curry is Green because of pureed green peppers (jalapenos,etc..), I found that odd). I enjoyed it barring the sweet taste (and as mentioned in another review I read, there was what appeared to be canned corn, canned peas, and canned green beans served with it... not traditional at all, but reasonable for a inexpensive lunch) The two small Thai donuts (Pa Thong Ko) were ok (they appeared to be made from canned biscuit dough... which is a reasonable substitution, although not as light as real homemade Pa Thong Ko). I will have to try them for a full dinner and see if the food is more traditional, and if they are more willing to work with substitutions and such. I will probably update this review after having done so.

Great lunch specials. LOVE THE AMAZING sauce on the beef and chicken. Includes soup, salad, spring roll, rice, meat, and a donut for dessert all under 9.00 depending on what dish you select.

I come here pretty regularly. They have excellent lunch specials. My favorites are the pad see ew and tofu spicy noodle. I find their pad thai a bit too sweet personally. If you like spice, be sure to ask for the spice tray. It is out of this world!

  • Tom P.

This is a really nice place to have a meal. But having said that, I really want to rate it higher, but I can't. My issue with this restaurant boils down to the meat they claim to use. The "tenderloin" as listed in its menu on many of its beef dishes looks, tastes, and chews like a chuck steak you can get at a publix. And while I absolutely loved the sauce of the chicken curry dish, the chicken itself tasted like it was freezer-burned. I would recommend this restaurant, but with strong reservation. Judge for yourself.

Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in Tampa. Appetizers: you cannot go wrong with Krab Rangoon. Just do it. We just tried their steamed dumplings tonight, also yum! They make a solid nam sod. If you're feeling soupy, Tom kah gai is the way to go! We always get stuck ordering the same entrees because they are so damn good: Panang chicken, mussaman chicken, amazing beef (yes, it's really called that, and yes, it is), and volcano shrimp. If you still have room by the end of dinner, the Thai donuts are killer :)

Had lunch here twice. Orders pad Thai, orange curry grouper, mango curry salmon. The food is in small quality. I don't eat a lot but I don't think it's enough for the price. Over $10 for 3 fish slides and a small bowl of rice?! Won't come back if I don't have to. Taste is good but too pricy

  • Miguel G.

The restaurant on the inside looks simple yet has a very elegant layout. The dim lighting definitely sets a very relaxing mood. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken and my friend ordered the curry chicken. Both meals had so much flavor and the vegetables complicated the dish. Service was also great and the manager was very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place if you are craving Thai food, all the spices and flavor in the food will leave your taste buds satisfied. Expect to leave this place with a full stomach!

Overall a good experience. There are some Thai restaurants that stand out an others that are very good that exceed the standard. I would not say this is not the best but it exceeds the standard. Good service, fresh food, and reasonable prices. I would definitely come back.

This is the one place we come to EVERY time we visit Tampa- the food is that good. Always delicious and consistent. Wish I had some right now. Best mussaman, pad thai and thai coffee ever. Tried the pineapple fried rice for the first time and it was great! Will be back soon!
