This was the best Peruvian food we've had outside if Peru!!! We went on a Friday for dinner..peak hours, yet seated immediately. We had marinated grilled octopus app...amazing flavor. Then the Paella and Jalea seafood platter with peruvian corn nuts and hominy and sauces. It had to be the best I've had! Nice light crunch batter around seafood without being heavy or greasy. Fish was tender and juicy, not Fishy. Plenty of calmari and shrimp and oysters. Large portions--well worth the money! You definitely get your money's worth! The wait staff was attentative. Kris, our waiter was helpful, friendly, cheerful--phenominal! They have an amazing wine list, from all over the world! Beer list is long as well. The decor was beautiful and cosy and had nice ambiance. Overall experience so good...we are going back again on Sunday to try more, and only here for the weekend...but it is that good! Dessert of Pear infused cake...was like a Pear Tiramisu...Delish! Don't miss this....Go!

Like most restaurants with longevity, Terra Sur has gone through its ups and downs over the years. Unfortunately, it appears to be going through a serious valley at the moment. This is still my go to place when someone wants to try Peruvian for the first time. See, most Peruvians places are dives, almost a prerequisite for Peruvian joints in Tampa. But Terra Sur is actually super nice, clean and well decorated. They also have music from time to time and a decent beer and wine list. This time I took a friend who was being fuzzy about food choices, leaving ceviche and anticuchos out of the equation, two things Terra Sur traditionally does well. So I had to improvise. We ordered papa rellena, yuquitas, chaufa especial and pescado a la chorillana. The papa rellana was good, while the yuquitas and taqueños disappointed with their uninspiring sauces. The pescado was ok, a bit bland. The chaufa was terrible. I mean, it's fried rice! It should be hard to screw up, but they did so epically. Whatever soy sauce they used was overpowering and the meat just tasted off. Took most of it home just to throw it away after a second attempt at eating it. I also noticed several things gone from the menu, like Chupe. I will probably be back in a while to give it another shot, but come on guys, get it together!

Fantastic restaurant that is great for a date night. Leave the kids at home and come enjoy a great evening of food and fun. Ceviche is worth the trip by itself, but add in a solid wine and beer list, and a cozy atmosphere and you have a place you'll enjoy. Don't try to rush through your meal and the wait isn't bad- just don't try to get in and out quick. This is a place to enjoy the time.

Delicious! Nice intimate atmosphere, fabulous sparkling sangria, and most of the food was SO good. For starters our table of 4 shared yucca fries and octopus medallions. The fries were great-crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Served with a tasty dipping sauce. I wouldn't bother again with the medallions, though - not much flavor in the tiny shaved pieces even though its dipping sauces were good, too. My entree, the Bouillabaisse, was incredible. Flavorful tomato-based soup broth, stuffed to the gills (hah!) with seafood. Crab legs were piled in the top of the bowl, and mussels, clams, shrimp, squid, and huge chunks of fish were swimming below. One would think I'd be stuffed after such a treat, and yet I still managed to find room for the salted caramel cake. Yum! Cake was moist, and the combo of salty/sweet was just right. I think I might need to visit Terra Sur Cafe every month!

My husband and I go are frequent visitors of this restaurant after my fabulous Spanish teacher told me this is a must-go restaurant. We love everything about this cozy restaurant. I love its atmosphere, outstanding service, food and wine list. They serve Latin food, but in a sophisticated way. Each plate is a delicate explosion of flavors. I love the fact that they space out the plates and don't bring you the check unless you ask for it. They truly makes you feel as a guest. Their shrimp ceviche is simply outstanding, their cauzas (a type of Peruvian appetizer) as well as their fish... actually their skirt steak too. Everything we have tried so far in this restaurant we love. This is our impress-your-friends place. My husband and I recommend!

My wife and I came here after hearing so many great comments by our neighbors. We were disappointed the first time. We felt lost on what to order and the menu was so different. The food was very different too so we left unsure. We tried again 6 months later and had the same result. Now this is one of our regular weekly restaurants. Once we learned the menu and tried a few new things we now love and look forward too. We take guests there also to show the place off. My advice is to have the mango ceviche and the grilled steak with chimi churro sauce on your first visit and go from there. Talk the waiters about your palate. Don't get hotter then mild on any ceviche unless you can take heat.

I love it here! The lomo saltado is sooooo good! I love all their ceviches! It's a great place for a romantic date, very dark and intimate.

Yesterday was my first time on this restaurant, nice service, very good food, the menu was easy to read, they have an overwhelming wines menu, but if you're looking for a place to eat peruvian food, this is a place to go, the only thing I didn't like was the lights it was A kinda dark for my taste, but everybody is different may be people that like that kind of light...

Pretty good beer and wine menu selections, lots of European beer options. The ceviche we ordered was quite delicious and the risotto was delightful. My friend ordered steak which came with sweet plantains and French fries (not sure why French fries came with it), the steak was ordered medium and was definitely med-well but the dish was seasoned well and other than a few missteps on service and steak temperature the meal was good and I will come back to try more of the dishes on the menu.

This place has been on my list of places to try for over a year now and It did not disappoint. We ordered the Ceviche Pescado to share and it was loaded with fish, hardly a filler in sight. It was bursting with freshness and tons of citrus flavor. I ordered the Lomo Saltado on a recommendation of a friend. Normally when I see something topping french fries I would steer away thinking it would be sub par. But this was the perfect combination of superbly cooked morsels of tender beef with tomatoes and onions in a delicious gravy topping some great fries that soaked up all the tasty sauce. My wife ordered the Papa Rellena that I can't recall what's in it but I do know it tasted mighty fine. She also ordered the Pulpo al Olivo which was a great example of how to prepare octopus. Tender slices of char grilled octopus with chimichurri sauce. The lunch prices are very reasonable. The wine and beer list was very extensive with price points from very affordable to the spendy with a lot in between.

This is the 2nd time we have been here, but the first time it had been a few years ago. Out of all of the Peruvian restaurants I have been to in the area, this is my favorite. The food is tasty. The service is perfect, The atmosphere Is beautiful. It is dog friendly, and the sangria is perfect. This restaurant is good for both casual dining and special occasions. That may sound weird, but I feel like it's all around perfect. We ordered the tequenas & yuquitas for an appetizer which is cheese and yuca. It comes with two dipping sauces. With yelp app, it ends up being free because you get $10 off when you check in. We ordered lomo saltado and the special grilled swordfish. Both were very good, as well as plated nicely. We lastly ordered tiramisu. That was good too. All around, a perfect place in Carrollwood, a little bit off the beaten path. It is worth a drive for this wonderful place.

Really enjoyed this. I don't have a lot of experience with Peruvian dishes, however my husband is a Peruvian food snob which is the only reason it didn't get 5 stars. The ceviche was ok- we did the sampler and wish we had gone just the basic ceviche route. My entree was great Lomo Saltado. Very tender.

We came back for dinner and we're not disappointed. Our server, Lucia, was very sweet and knowledgeable. I tried the popular Arroz Chaufa and my wife tried the Lomo Saltado. Yummy! !!!!

From the outside its a good looking strip mall restaurant and parking was easy on a Monday night. I enjoy the interior of this place, some nice attention to detail even in the bathroom area . The menu was a little limited and perhaps needed more scrutiny than I gave it. The Lomo was on the chewier side of the tenderloin cut but not offensive.

I came here searching for a nearby Tres Leche. Lo and behold it comes with a peruvian dining experience. I was kind of confused there was a sign for silencing your cellphones for the "experience," but I come in and there is no host to greet me. It took a moment for a server to realize I'm awkwardly standing there. I asked to be seated at the bar. I instantly notice there is tres leche on a counter just sitting out. This is a big no no. Desserts that have dairy product especially do not sit out. Ironically it's called tres leche, three milks. Facepalm. The 2 servers worked hard. They greet the guests, they answer the phones, they even plate the desserts with the syrup design. Both of them were really friendly. I am recommended the tacu tacu with Lomo saltado. The meat is cooked perfectly, seasoned well, veggies are tasty. For the price? Well it's a generous portion. I am satisfied with it, but not really impressed. In any case this was all pretense for the Tres leche. I try to have him convince me on another dessert but he says it's their best. I was was given enough reason to say no, but the Tres leche is why I'm here. I'm really curiousssssss and I get it. Buyer's remorse. It was plated by my server, love the guy, but overuse of syrup. Their take on tres leche was topped with buttercreme. Like a cupcake??! Sacrilege it's supposed to be topped with whip. It was a thin cut, I only got a little bit of the soak caked texture. There wasn't the lightness or airiness. Tres leche is all about texture. It wasn't good. I'm not going to come down hard on the servers. They have a lot of duties, of course there will be mistakes. The owner/manager needs to get it together. You don't have a restaurant operate at this price point and not have a host to greet guests and take phone calls. You do not have a server plate the already subpar desserts with syrup. This is laughable.

Decided to try this place out for lunch takeout since it is actually in my neighborhood and had some great reviews. I split my hoagie with my husband and felt that it was a good portion of food to share. Lunch comes with the choice of a salad or soup. I tried the lobster bisque and it was just ok. I was really interested in trying their Chimichurri sauce since I tried it for the first time at Platos in Puerto Rico. The sauce was ok but the flavors didn't POP like my Puerto Rico experience. The sandwich seemed to be lacking onions and the meat needed more flavor. The waitress suggested that I tried the Lomo Al Jungo Hoagie which was also a steak Hoagie with onions and mushrooms but no Chimichurri sauce. It would cost an additional $3 to add the sauce to that sandwich. Would I return to this restaurant? The answer would be yes. I will like to try out their seafood. The ambiance was very nice and it is very small in there.

Explain why you advertise that you close at 9 but then tell people at 8:40 that you are closed..... I only gave a few stars since I've eaten there and enjoyed the food but after driving 30mins to be told you are closed (even though people were clearly still being served when we walked in) I don't think I'll make the trip or reccommend to anyone else.

With only two visits to Terra Sur, I can confidently say that I can count on a good Peruvian meal here. We've never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to be seated. They've got a large selection of beer and wine, both domestic and international. It's always fun to try something new when ever we go. Sadly, Terra Sur is too far from where we live but it's a great place to visit when we are in the area. It's always a nice, random surprise! For starters, we've tried the Tequeños y Yuquitas Fritas and Pulpo al Olivo. I always love fried goodies, especially when there is cheese involved (Really though, who doesn't love this?). So, the tequeños and yuquitas were pretty good, particularly with the dipping sauces. I don't recall their names exactly but they were green and orange-ish, and definitely spicy! I recommend them both. The pulpo (octopus) had a nice texture to it, definitely chewy but not to the point where your jaw gets tired from it. A negative for me was that I thought the appetizer would have had more octopus. I was disappointed to see only 5-6 pieces of pulpo on our plate. On the upside, the black olive puree was delicious and the chimichurri was fantastic. For entrees, we've had the Ceviche de Camaron, Chupe and Jalea. I've grown up eating my dad's Ecuadorian ceviche, which is different than Peruvian ceviche. So, I'll admit I was skeptical that this ceviche would be good. I won't say that it surpassed my dad's ceviche because all components of it were completely different than my dad's; however, Terra Sur's ceviche was incredibly good and fresh. A small order of the shrimp ceviche was enough for my dinner and a couple bites for my husband to try. The Chupe is a delicious seafood broth made up of potatoes, peas, an egg, rice, corn and lima beans with either shrimp or a mixed combination of shrimp and fish. I've gained confidence in Terra Sur's fresh seafood so I went for the mixed Chupe with shrimp and red snapper. WOW! This was so flavorful and hearty. I could imagine myself eating this soup for breakfast in the mountains of Peru. It was really good. I finished the entire soup myself, to the waiter's surprise and my own! Lastly, the Jalea is what I would say is the Peruvian version of a fried sampler dish. You can find mussels, calamari, fish, shrimp and yuca, all fried to a delicious golden brown. On the side, you get your fresh corn and cancha to add to the mix. Also, they include a cup of marinated red onions (on the side) to top off the fried goodies. What a great mix of textures and flavors! We will come back to Terra Sur should we ever be in the neighborhood. Hands down, a really good place to eat!

I stumbled in here on accident and hoped I had found a hidden gem. I ordered a glass of wine, true no to ignore the pretentiousness of the place (their menu is not in English but in Italian). I also ordered a mixed civiche. The wine was good, but it was run of the mill supermarket wine. The civiche was a mess. The seafood was prepared with limes juice, then coated with lime/lemon sauce then served with concentrated lome/lemon sauce. I had ordered it mild so i asked the bar girl, Maria what the difference was and she said it was a perusian chili. U said it was WAY too acidic and she suggested I order it in the side next time. As I sat at my stool I watched her make sangria from a mix and toss in a handful of frozen strawberries to make it look better. If a wine bar isn't going to make thir own sangria I wonder how canned/frozen the civiche actually is. Sangria is not hard to make. If you are looking for a trendy hangout come to Terra Sur otherwise head to another trendy wine bar like Carmel.

My coworker took me here because he said it's the best cebiche in Tampa. Ok, I'm from California and I don't know what cebiche is. I know what ceviche is. I kept thinking they just couldn't properly pronounce things. Nope, it's called cebiche. My coworker ordered the cebiche mixto which included several types of seafood including calamari, scallops, fish, and shrimp. It was tasty but it took my SoCal taste buds awhile to realize this was cebiche and not ceviche. I love that you can get it in a varying level of heat but my coworker wanted no heat. I was slightly disappointed because I love spicy food. The cebiche was good but I think I would have been better with the heat. As my main dish (the one I didn't want to share), I ordered the risotto and it was amazzzzzing. Oh my gosh! So much flavor it was insane! Oh, I almost forgot to mention the sangria. I don't even like sangria but this sangria was sooooo good. And I didn't have a hangover the next day so kudos to them for not using cheap ass wine as the base. The service was great and the restaurant itself is a cute little place. We thoroughly annoyed the other couple that wanted to enjoy a quiet little dinner. I don't care. The food was good and I'll go back.

I hate to give such a disappointing review for Terra Sur, as I really had good expectations, but it just didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. The first time I came here was with a large group as part of a "meetup" group. I arrived at our agreed upon time of 630 pm and we had made a reservation for 18 people far ahead of time. Being that the restaurant is quite small we were split into 2 different tables. From the outside it doesn't look too impressive as its a small place tucked in at the end of a strip plaza, but inside it is very nicely decorated with an array of artwork covering the walls. Very cozy feel, which is nice, considering you're likely to be here for a LONG time. I'm not sure if it was due to the large size of our group but everything took far longer than it should have. We got water right away but no drinks menus until we asked for them at least 15 minutes later. They do have an extensive wine and beer list with libations from around the world, presuming you can get anyone to come take your drink order before you decide to just give up on it. Another 45 minutes later of sitting there staring into space before someone takes our appetizer order. Yes, 45 minutes! 5 minutes after we finally get a bread basket for the table. By the time they took our order I was so starving I decided to get just an app rather than wait to order a whole entrée in order to avoid waiting longer. I chose the tostones with seasoned minced beef, onion and red bell pepper on top. Luckily after all that waiting my app did come out quickly along with the Ceviche that others at our table ordered for their app. Those who ordered meals were stuck waiting for another extensive period of time. Sadly I wasn't all that impressed with my tostones. The menu description should read "large tostones cakes with tiny pieces of fatty beef on top, 1 sad little bell pepper slice and an ENTIRE large onion" Seriously there was so much onion I could barely find my other food underneath. It was overkill. My first thought was that perhaps I just didn't order the "right" thing, and that's why I was disappointed, but then I thought "shouldn't anything on on the menu be a "right" thing to order?!" Meh. By this point I was over the whole experience and ready to get out of there. Due to the size of our group we were told they could only split our bill into 6 per table but I was able to flag down one of the servers, paid cash and skidaddled out of there. Not sure that I would go back again

I was introduced to Terra Sur at a large Yelpers event a few months back. That's when I decided this would be my birthday dinner place! As it happens my dining friends weren't as excited as I, so I visited with a fellow ceviche eating friend for a "day after" dinner. First, small place with lots of personality and ambiance. We arrived around 7 and had the place nearly to ourselves (World Cup time, you know). The bartender/server was very accommodating when it came to the wine list and trying out different things. The wine list is gargantuan, by the way. Thank goodness my friend knows wine better than I and was able to help me choose. We were seated quickly. Warm rolls came to the table first (with REAL butter!!). Our order of the ceviche pescado sampler arrived quickly along with yucca fries and chorizo y morcilla. Ceviche was fresh and the "Peruvian hot" was perfect for us - not burn your face off hot, but nicely spiced with good flavor. While the yucca fries came with their own sauce, I preferred using the left over ceviche sauce. The morcilla was pretty fantastic in my opinion. I wasn't crazy about the chorizo, but it was good as well. Dessert was an incredibly rich double chocolate cake. I mean, just wow. Since we were stuffed I rescued about half of it for tomorrow's breakfast!! All in all, I really loved eating here. The food, the atmosphere, the people and service - all really made this dinner an enjoyable experience I hope to revisit soon. I absolutely will strong arm friends into going here for dinner in the near future (or I'll round up my ceviche eating partner in crime!).!

We tried this restaurant out after seeing the reviews on Yelp. The ambiance, the staff and service was great. Its because of the food that we are giving Terra Sur a 3 star..it was not that tasty.... We had Ceviche, Peruvian rice and beef.

Dinner here last night with friends. Food was very good and I would go back. Atmosphere was nice with some interesting art. Server was nice but seemed pretty new and unorganized, but we all learned a new job once. We ordered a glass of house cab. When the bill came we were charged $13/glass which seemed excessive. They did adjust the bill to $8/glass. We did not request a specific wine nor was any alternative wines suggested, so that was a bit of a negative to the end of the evening.

The place itself is so cute, the decor is welcoming. The service is ok. Had a server talk to my table about his political views and aliens for 20 min. The sangria is ok. The ceviche is pricey. While very good, there are better places to get ceviche for a better price.

  • Amber H.

The food is really good and authentic. The service is not the best, but it could be worse. I love the wine and beer list, and the portions are huge. I would like to see a few more non seafood items added to the menu. I tried to order Arroz con pollo and was told they did not have it, even though there are plenty of items on the menu that have either chicken or rice in them. Can we not combine the two? I like the atmosphere, and it is a great place for a romantic dinner.

This is always a go-to place if I want guaranteed great Peruvian food! I've been here a handful of times and every single time, I get tempted to order something different than last, hesitating because what I ordered last time was so good but I take the risk and it is rewarded. Every. Time. I always get the mixed ceviche platter though the original is my favorite. I've had ossobuco (though I don't think that's in the menu anymore), the best paella I've ever had anywhere, the pescado a lo macho, the list goes on. I cannot reiterate how good the food is. On top of the excellent savory dishes, their desserts are decadent and fabulous. Definitely in the heavier side, so it's nice to share with a dinner partner. And then, on top of THAT, they have a great beer/wine selection! I'm more of a beer person and they have a good looking list of foreign beers more than decent to satisfy beer enthusiasts. A must if you're in Tampa. Especially great for dates because there's a co-owned bar right next door too for desserts, drinks after an impeccable meal.

Dined here a couple months ago with a friend, I tried their Ceviche which was by far some of the best Ceviche I've eaten. I also tried some steak skewers which were very good. The service, cleanliness & ambiance were good.

This is one of my favorite ceviche spots in Tampa! In fact maybe the only one ! I always order the mixed ceviche with a side of white rice, (if you haven't tried it with rice, do yourself a favor and try it!) I always have left overs as well! The only time I've been disappointed was in relation with the sangria and what they charge for the amount they serve. I was told a pitcher would be x amount and equal 2 1/2 glasses so it's a deal when in reality the 2 1/2 glass is a smaller oz glass. Ok so besides that the ceviche has always been fabulous! Super happy with this restaurant :-)

One of our favoites. We take folks from out of town here Great wine selections. Try the beef heart and oyster medallion apps. Ceviche options are also good. Had pan seared snapper and it was big so didn't think I would eat it all. Wrong. It's a hidden gem.

Ordered the "poor man's steak" and it was pure grit. While waiting over 20 minutes for our bottle of wine, I asked to speak to the manager to change my order- a blond woman, who immediately said it wouldn't be possible to refund me and/or allow me choose another entree. I would have to pay for it. Only two bites out a $25 meal and this is the treatment shown to GUESTS? Stingy and classless does not begin to cover it. Judging by the disgusting attitudes of the wait staff and the incompetence and indifference of the manager, she and the owners are getting something wrong. This was the most pretentious dining experience I have had in a while. Perhaps remember that you are in the business of HOSPITALITY and your success is owed to the people of the neighborhood. If that wasn't enough, I hear that they treat their employees beyond terribly. Will not be going back and made sure to tell friends about my awful experience.

Arroz chaufa is BOMB and my favorite is tallarin verde. The owner is very pleasant and attentive. Service is always very fast. I am Peruvian and very picky about good restaurants but this one never fails.

My incredibly lovely girlfriend called me after she completed one of her marathon 12-hour shifts at the hospital and asked if I could take her to one of those "neat Yelp places" for lunch. :-) I did a quick search for someplace on our side of town, and spotted a great review by Kelleigh M. for Terra Sur Café. The restaurant is located near the intersection of Ehrlich Road and W. Village Drive, in a mostly-vacant shopping center. Terra Sur is listed as fine South American cuisine, and that sounded like a great place to enjoy a quiet lunch. The restaurant sits next door to Alex's Southern Style Bar-B-Que, and Terra Sur has been a neighborhood staple for the past seven or eight years. I drive by this place all the time, but had not eaten there until today. Inside the front door you'll find a small Peruvian restaurant that seats about 50 diners in an ambiance best described as "date-night intimate". There are some gorgeous pieces of South American art on the walls, and a large wooden bar featuring a vast selection of South American wines and beers. I understand that they serve a mean pitcher of sangria, but I was still working and could not partake. For our lunch we split a full-sized helping of the ceviche de pescado y camaron which was fresh cuts of raw fish and shrimp, marinated in lime juice and spices, aji limo, and cilantro. The ceviche was served in the middle of the plate and topped with julienne slices of red onions, and then the plate was garnished with Peruvian soft white corn (hominy), toasted corn, and a slice of sweet potato. That came with a basket of freshly-cooked rolls, and it was delicious! I had Lomo Saltado for my main course, and that came with a cup of their homemade fish bisque. The Saltado was seasoned strips of tender beef sautéed with red onions, wedges of tomatoes, and mixed with French fries, The dish came with a mound of white rice, and was covered in a delicious brown sauce and sprinkled with fresh herbs. Brittany had the Chicken Milanesa with a side salad, and ended up taking most of it home for later, since she was busy snitching nibbles off of my plate throughout lunch. We really enjoyed this place, and will definitely be back for dinner one evening so that we can share a pitcher of Sangria and a wonderful meal.

I don't know what I'm missing but I don't understand all these good reviews. Lunch for my 12 year old son and me was $52 plus tip. He got the poor mans steak which was pure gristle. And I had steak tips with rice. The rice was funky tasting and mushy. And two sodas. That was it... $60 later. My friend got the chupe which was not good for $18. I mean it was a small bowl of soup for $18. Ridiculous. We were swindled.

I played golf at Carrollwood Country Club yesterday. This, by itself, is unremarkable. When we finished, though, I had the wonderful idea to bring food home to my family. When I Yelped nearby restaurants and saw this place, I wondered how I could have missed it for so long. 85 reviews with a 4.5 star average? How had I not previously discovered this Peruvian gem? The decor was lovely, and I believe I was the only gringo in the place. I'm sure I was quite the sight in my sweaty golf attire. Still, an older gentleman who was leaving asked me if I like Peruvian food and how I found Terra Sur. I picked 4 entrees that looked tasty, and waited. 20-25 minutes later, I was driving back home with a car full of delicious aromas. When I got it to the crib and unboxed it, we ravenously attacked the seafood entrees. They were outstanding. The flavors were robust, the food amazing, and everything tasted fresh. Yet another Yelp find!

Not the greatest service here, I go when it's pretty slow and the wait staff seem to disappear somewhere in the back when I need some help. The heart dish is very good and the ceviche are top notch, unfortunately their plate was changed for the sampler and the ceviche no longer comes with popped hominy and sweet potatoes. I really can't get enough of their yellow sauce they spread on most potato dishes and their cheesy yuca bites are just the right crunch you want. It's odd to see fried rice on the menu, but give it a try it's not too bad. Grab a glass of wine and take in the beautiful paintings that adorn every wall.

I would say off the 2 things I ordered that the Lomo Saltado was very tasty , I would give that a 5 star .. Delicious! But unfortunately, that wasn't my meal, I only had a couple bites of that. My meal was the Pescado a lo Macho which was so so.. Everything in it was cooked to perfection. The fish was fried perfect. Tender and flaky. The shrimp and calamari were tender... The only thing lacking was the flavor in the sauce. There wasn't any really .. I added some of a creamy orange hot sauce that I asked for to kick it up a notch and see what happens, but it still was lacking. I thought Pescado a Lo Macho was already supposed to have a little spiciness to it already, but this one did not have one hint.. I can't put my finger on what it needed. Definitely salt though, I know that, but there was none on the table. I looked around, but there were none on any of the tables in the whole restaurant ! I still half enjoyed it after the addition of the hot sauce. I'm glad I had the $10 check in offer from Yelp. It definitely made it more ok. I would go back and try something else, I know this place has much more to offer.

Do not judge this book by its cover. Located in a strip center that has few occupants, Terra Sur did not disappoint. This restaurant has been on my "must try" list for awhile. We arrived around 6pm on a saturday and surprisingly we were NOT the only patrons here. We checked in on Yelp and took advantage of the $10 off coupon. I started with a glass of their red sangria and it was refreshing. The glass was quite large and tasty-it didn't have an alcohol taste to it yet I left a little loopy ;) We shared the causa de pollo and it was Devine. It's hard to explain but it's a cold mashed potato with a fantastic chicken salad on top and garnished with avocado and a hard boiled egg. Superb. For my main meal I ordered the mango and shrimp ceviche. That too was tasty and it had cubed avocado as well. My husband ordered the lomo Saltado and this is the meal that stole the show. I couldn't stop stealing bites of the flavorful steak. Soooo goood!! I'd definitely return and would want to try more of their menu.

Where do I even start with this place??? First of all I'm giving this place five stars which I really do. And you may ask why are you giving it five stars? Well ladies and gents because this place was unbelievably fantastic. From the food to the service you bet your bottom dollar that it is worth five stars! The restaurant is located kind of off the beaten path in west village. I do have to admit that I almost past it. It is in a strip mall type setting. But there is a BBQ restaurant next to it. When you first walk in you defiantly get that Mediterranean feel (at least I think so). The hostess will seat you. If you are coming with a fairly large party I would call ahead because the place is kind of small with limited seating. They have a nice wine selection which I didn't try because when I went it was not a cheat meal for me (I'm on a diet...booo lol). But definitely will try next time. They do offer other types of adults beverages such as beer. And if you like ciders they even have angry orchard (which I absolutely love!!). I think for the size of the restaurant or cafe a you would call it their food selection is decent. I ordered the Apollo Cafe (pls don't hold me to the spelling: I sucked in Spanish class hahah). But it's fried rice with shrimp, chicken, and beef. You can order with either one or have it mixed like I did which is called the special. For the appetizer I ordered yucca fries and OMG....it was pure heaven. I think the service was great. Our waiter was really really really nice and he was super cute which is always a plus hahah. Also for the amount of food and the quality of the food the prices are reasonable. If you live in the area or just want to try something that is not chain related I would definitely put this at the top of your list. So all in all it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back. Next time I will have to save room for dessert. Oh and if you check in on yelp you get 10.00 in food. The only down fall is if you go with a group you can only use one per table and no split checks. But it is still worth it.

This place will surprise you! It is not what you expect to find in a strip mall, but the ambiance, service and food are top notch. The ceviche is the best I've tried outside Peru. Everything is amazingly flavorful!

You need to come here and get the Arroz a la Chiclayana, it's a rice dish with various seafood (scallops, etc) but it's the seasoned rice that made this delicious. I think it's the best rice I've ever had! The calamari is so-so, not great but not bad either. Also there's a drink that's a traditional Peruvian drink, I don't remember the name, but the waitress recommended it and it was very good, non-alcoholic but comes in a wine glass. Only thing I didn't really like was during dinner they keep the place dimly lit, it was difficult to read the menu. Food and service was excellent though.

Sad to say, I won't be going back. Been once before and food was just okay. I liked the concept of this place being a family run restaurant so I decided to give it another try, assuming I maybe just ordered the wrong thing. Everything I ordered on the 2nd visit was unpleasant tasting. So much so, I couldn't finish. But service was beyond bad. I mean, really, really bad. As in, absent. Very few check ins on us, no drink refills, and incorrect tab. No excuse for bad service when a restaurant is this tiny. Also be warned, the prices have either increased or there's a discrepancy on their website. Menu prices are more than you see online. And by that I mean, overpriced.

Ideal for date night. Nice establishment with good service and a great atmosphere. Sad to say though appetizers, ended up being the main event for the night. The ceviche and octopus were delicious. Had that ended the night, I would've been satisfied. Ordered the bistec a lo pobre. It was just ok, overpriced for the quality of the steak, I make a better steak at home on the grill. This is true! Not a bad meal but far from great. I like the addition of the egg and all but do u really need that much starch... Rice, plantains and fries?? Is that necessary?? A bit much IMO. Ok moving on. My wife ordered the churrasco, she felt the same way... Not worth it. The ceviche sampler was excellent. Truly the star of the show. All in all, I would come back and give them a second chance. I liked the atmosphere and starters just wasn't crazy about the entree, expected more for the price. It was a terrific date night for us and that's all that matters.

Why 3 stars? Because there's no 3.5 option. --- --- --- This could easily be chalked up to one of those "expectations were set too high" experiences. Because this was a good meal and I don't have any real complaints about the food, aside from the fact that I was expecting something more amazing than they could deliver. I read some mouth watering reviews and pictures, which led to this internal hype machine. My steak was good, but not the best I have ever had. Same can be said for the rice. The plantains were good. The fries were fries. The service was slow, as I have come to expect from all Cuban/South American restaurants. I did have my first experience with a Chicha Morada drink. The server's english was broken, the best way he could describe it is that it was a, "non-alcoholic, corn base." That doesn't sound so great, but I was in an adventurous mood. It was tasty. Like wine with no alcohol and more sugar. Will I go back? Yes. I absolutely will.

After hearing so much about this place, I had to try it. Been there twice and each time I've been disappointed! First of all, the service isn't great. I was ignored the first time for about 20 mins. Second time, the waitress talked excessively such that I felt she was a fourth companion to our table. It is nice to have a friendly server but you also want to be able to talk to your friends at dinner. I've found the food to be lacking in flavor. The problem may be that I expected so much based on how much people talk about it. I would go again but not rushing to do so.

The Tacu Tacu was a party in my mouth. Everything else ceases to matter. When we first arrived I was a little hesitant. It is situated in a row of shops, which worried me. The restaurant itself is small and dark. It is nicely decorated, but on a sunny day outside I was thinking maybe this was not the best choice of places to eat. There were a couple tables outside, but no one was sitting out there. There is also a bar area. As others have mentioned, service is slow, but I do not really fault the restaurant for this. I think it is more of a cultural thing and adds to the charm. Honestly, if you're eating, drinking, and laughing, the speed of the service fits right in. They give you bread to begin and it is adequate. Nothing to write home about, but not terrible. When I was looking at the menu, I realized I was extremely out of my comfort zone. Everything seemed to be a novel idea. This menu is filled with seafood, so it is a little difficult if you do not like seafood. However, that isn't to say that there are not a couple options that might satisfy you. I ended up choosing the Tacu Tacu, which is billed as crispy rice and white beans with a seafood topping, in a tomato/coconut milk sauce (my words, not theirs). My fiance got the flat, fried chicken with fries (I'm sure there is a more specific name, but I do not remember it). The Tacu Tacu was huge. I actually just ate my left overs for dinner. It was absolutely delicious. All the different elements worked perfectly together. The seafood consists mainly of shrimp and squid, which was fine by me. I loved the generous helping of squid. Honestly, I cannot remember a meal that I enjoyed as greatly as this one in terms of the actual food. I know that any time I come back, I will always order that. No branching out for me, I love it so much. My fiance really enjoyed his chicken too. The fries were ok, but I wouldn't keep ordering them. This is one of those more upscale places that it is not out of place to wear jeans at. Not a place to see and be seen, but definitely a place for exquisite food. I would suggest this place as a low key date night or a fun outing with friends.

I continue to frequent this restaurant and it's become one of my favorites. I can indulge with a steak and a delicious dessert or I can go healthy with some amazing ceviche. Ether way, it's a treat. The service could be better, but the ambience and food keep me coming back!

Forget about coming here with Children. Not kid friendly establishment at all. Showed terrible customer service by not even attempting to make simple rice and beans plate for a 2 year old child as a "special order". Adult meals are good, not great, and large portions. Unfortunately if you have a family, skip this place at all cost.

Don't let the mostly empty plaza fool you. This place is a hidden gem. Quick service for a late lunch! Nice hot fresh rolls, but you might save room for the generous portions. Seafood is very fresh! Don't miss stopping here!

Yay, Im a fan! What makes Terra Sur such a hit for me, is their offering of perfectly aromatic and amazing food bursting with flavor and taste. Influenced by Peruvian style of preparation, this small and cozy eatery impresses even the highly discriminating food critics. Start with any of their several ceviche ( some have cooked shrimp vs all raw fish ) to get your adventure on a great start. Move onto one of their salad ( note the portion sizes are quite large, enough for two ). For entrée you can go seafood route or meat. If meat try the thin cut steak. You'll be eating to the last bite. Each of their dish are a perfect blend of spices and well balanced with fresh ingredients and garnish. There isn't a single item that you can go wrong with. Reservations are always preferred due to their small seating space. Their service is very attentive and quite interactive. My repeated visits have left me wanting to go back repeatedly. Their extensive wine list is a silver lining to the whole experience. Don't let their plain exterior and location at a strip mall fool you. This place is like a bat cave of delicious Peruvian cuisine - plain on the outside, holly batman this is unbelievably fabulous on the inside !!

What a hidden gem! I've never really had Peruvian food but I really enjoyed this place. Even the bread was delicious, though they ran out of it at some point throughout the night, which was slightly disappointing. I had a really tough time deciding on what to get because everything looked so good... ended up getting the Lomo Salteado which was fantastic! It came with fries in it, which was a little bit strange at first, but I ended up liking it once I got used to it. I wish that this place wasn't so far out in the middle of nowhere or else I'd go much more frequently!

I hate to do this because the Food at Terra Sur is absolutely AMAZING!!!! I am a big fan of this place, and for that reason I decided to invite all my friends for a Sunday brunch during my Tampa visit. We were the first people to get inside the restaurant and for a while ....we were the only customers. We ended up being a group of 9, which will automatically require a 18% service charge... Which my group was completely happy to pay for and if the waitress were to provide good service we would have gladly added a little extra$$$!!! Little did we know that this obligated service charge became the perfect excuse for our waitress to become unbelievably RUDE to my friends. I was so ashamed!!! And when we politely complained to the owner's wife, she seemed upset at US instead of the waitress. Again, I am in love with this restaurant... But this lady (waitress) gave us the worst restaurant/service experience anyone could ever imagine!!!!I wish I knew her name!!! This awful review is to that waitress who shouldn't work in customer service at all!!! There are so many nice-professional-polite individuals who are unemployed that would give the world to work at a restaurant like Terra Sur... And who would definitely provide an amazing unforgettable experience!!!

Great place to eat. The papas rellenas and papa a la huancaina are great appetizers. Their paella is awesome and so are their sangrias. Their ceviche is delicious. Other main dishes are worth trying, too. Its a little pricey but worth it. Certainly beats Columbia restaurant for Latin food.

I ate lunch here recently compliments of my uncle who was in town on an extended visit. I am so glad we came here! The outside is absolutely underwhelming, being in a strip mall, but once you enter, you are enveloped in a cozy, ambient environment that transports you somewhere exotic. Never having been to Peru, I can't say if it is an authentically Peruvian atmosphere, but having been to both Mexico and Brazil, I was sufficiently impressed. The music, at times Brazilian and at times Spanish, added greatly to the overall experience, as did the colorful and evocative art on the walls. Everyone was very pleased with the food! My uncle had the Arroz Chaufa with beef, and my father had the same with chicken. My husband had the seafood Picante de Mariscos, and our friend had the Pescado a lo Macho. After the meal, we all sat there raving about the food, and I suddenly realized that because of a raw vegan cleanse I am doing, all I had was the Terra Sur salad minus the cheese, chicken and dressing, which meant lettuce and salad veg with oil and vinegar! That's how amazing the smells and atmosphere were at the table. The wait staff were fabulous too! I will definitely return after my cleanse at some point to sample more of the delights on the menu. Wow- a definite surprise in Carrollwood! Who knew?

I was pleasantly surprised by Terra Sur. A friend suggested it on a whim and I was nervous at first, but as soon as I stepped through the door, the ambiance and decor impressed me and made me feel cozy, yet classy, and I had the feeling I was going to have an excellent meal. And that I did! To start, the bread was oh so yummy and warm. Then the appetizers -- the Terra Sur calamari, it comes perfectly fried, very lightly breaded. And on the recommendation of the server, we broke out and tried a cow heart appetizer. It sounds scary, but it was divine! Tender and the spicy sauce on the side was a nice kick. I gave into a pasta dish for my entre, the Tallarin Saltado, and my friend also with a pasta dish, the Tallarin Verde. We were so full from the appetizers we ended up taking the majority of our main course home, but we saved room for dessert! And so should you. Three words: Tres Leche Cake. Ahhhhmazing. I would suggest making a reservation before you go as seating is limited and I would also expect a little more lax service speed. Just kick back, relax, grab a drink and take it easy. This experience should not be rushed. I am definitely going to be going back as there is more on the menu I'm dying to try. And the $10 off your meal for a yelp check-in was definitely an extra sweet ending to the night.

This place has the BEST ceviche in tampa!! Even though they only serve wine and beer, they have an amazing selection. I love the yuca fries and my favorite entree is the steak with the pesto pasta. It's so amazing!!

I wished I can give it 4 star due to the service but the food is only ok. Portions were small and ingredients used were not the best of choice. The thing about being boutique, one must use higher quality ingredients to offset small portions. This often means using exotic flavors and uncommon ingredients. I found no such thing here, just a replicate of something that could be.

We've had a number of visitors the past few months. When we review the local dining options, everyone has picked Terra Sur. Then we tell them it is one of our favorite restaurants. We were there again last night with foodie friends from Chicago. We did a sampler dinner because it is always too hard for first timers (And us as well) to choose from all the great menu items. A few ceviche, Arroz con Mariscos and Anticuchos de Carne. I don't know what they marinate this beef in but it is amazing. It was getting testy who was getting the last piece of carne. ;-) The only knock on this visit was the service was a bit slow and they were out of two wines we selected from the wine list. They have a nice wine list and we like to try different ones on each visit. The substitutes were excellent but we had already had them. Terra Sur is great for lunch or dinner. We don't get tired going to Terra Sur.

Terra Sur is an upscale Peruvian restaurant located on the side of a dead strip mall. This is not a place you just drive by, but it's a place you need to make a point to visit. The food is outstanding. I had the paella sans mussels, a mixture of seasoned rice, tenderloin, chicken strips, shrimp and chorizo. OMG. Bring your big boy clothes, the servings are huge! My wife had the Anticuchos de Carne, 8 grilled pieces of skirt steak served with yellow rice and an amazing chimichurri sauce. My wife ate that and half the paella, and we rolled out of this place fat and happy. The service was outstanding. The ambiance is nice, classy, and upscale. I'd definitely bring a client here. Nice looking AND tasting Latin American restaurants are few and far between. Terra Sur is a gem of a restaurant for those looking for a delicious meal in a classy environment with great service. This is as good as it gets!

Very disappointing food. Too bad I cannot give a minus 1 star. The food was just below average and overpriced. I know Good Peruvian food, I also know a bad imitation trying to pass for decent food. The bad service was also another disappointment. Overall this place gives Peruvian Cuisine a bad name. I will never return or recommend this place.

My husband and I frequent Terra pretty often and the service + food have always been 5 stars. I've introduced Terra to SEVERAL people and have even been talking up there new location. This review is solely based on my last visit there. Dinner was spot on, but our server ruined the typical dining experience. He was inattentive and dry. I had to ask for a refill on water then when I requested the check, he leaves the bill on table and walks away. Not even one word! We paid and as we got up to leave, he said nothing!! its unfortunate that one bad experience left such a bad taste. It wasn't busy, we weren't demanding and we still tipped according to the bill and not his lackadaisical service.

I'm out of my element when I arrived at this modest yet swanky Terra Sur Cafe. It's definitely intinate because I see many small tables seated with couples and their glasses of wines. I met up with my friend and his group of close colleagues. Our server was prompt and friendly. My experienced was helped when everyone including the waiter were all outgoing. I was pleasantly surprised that we started with a pitcher of red sangria mix that could be shared among everyone (1 small glass for 6 people). The items were a bit pricey, which sometimes throws me off. But the menu looked appetizing. Before our meals, we got to try bread with their dipping sauces, whcih were yummy. I could just that. Since I had a late lunch, I wasn't very hungry so I opted for the shrimp and mango ceviche. It was light and had a very pungent citrus flavor. I had a good time and was fascinated by the different array of choices. One person tried the beef heart. That was interesting. It was really tender and flavorful like a steak would be. I never thought I'd try anything like that, but I'm glad I did. I think this place is great to have a nice gathering and definitely a date. Although, I liked the atmosphere, I'm not sure when the next time around I'd go again. I think I'd rather stick to going with a group again. Next time I'll have to try their desserts.

Ate here a couple of weeks ago and my taste buds are still reminiscing. We ordered the Chicha Morada, Tostones Con Carne, Lomo Saltado, Arroz con Mariscos, Ceviche...it was all amazing. Combine the food with the authentic atmosphere decorated with traditional artwork from Peru and you have an easy escape from the usual. The staff was accommodating and friendly, always returning with a smile. For me this one is worth the drive!

Cinco de mayo means margaritas and sangria and all things fried... this great place does a nice job with combining flavors of several different ethnicities and backgrounds and develops recipes that are unique. Although not touted as a "Mexican" destination they know how to rock the rock salt and pour that tequila. They also just opened a wine bar a couple doors down for overflow and specialty bottles. A high five for the on the rocks margaritas and house made white or red sangria - definitely worth the trip!

I drink a lot of sangria and this is some of the best I've ever had in Tampa. The food was really good and the yuca was fried to perfection. Only reason I'm not giving perfect rating is that the service was a little slow to come around and the steak was a little too salty but very minor overall great experience and worth the money for a nice dinner out. Again cannot express how GOOD the sangria was I wanted to ask if I could take a pitcher to go.

We made reservations here, thinking it would be the best Peruvian restaurant in the area. My bestie's husband is Peruvian so he was going to be the major critic.... Unfortunately, it was not the best Peruvian spot in Tampa! The portions were small for the price and it was rather loud. We ordered the Ceviche Mixto, which was a good portion for 2 people, but not for the party 5 we had (like the waitress recommended). Also, we had more onions on our appetizer plate instead of the ceviche we wanted to enjoy. I ordered the Apanado De Carne, which was delicious, but did not look too appetizing due to the lack of presentation. The other dishes ordered by my party included the following: Lomo Saltado and Alcapuchos De Carne. Everything was delicious, despite the price. I know you can get the same delicious food elsewhere and it will be a lot cheaper! However, I think my favorite here was the sangria! It was delicious and we were tempted to order another pitcher!

With not much experience with Peruvian food, I was not sure what to expect. Although after taking a look through the dinner menu, I sure had an idea of what I wanted to order. We started with a few Entradas - Papa a la Huancaina, Terra Sur Calamari and Causa de Pollo. Out of the three, I have to say I enjoyed the latter the best. The calamari was good, not the best I've ever had, and it was so large it looked more like onion rings. Then we ordered some main dishes, which turned out to be my favorite part of the meal. Between the Ceviche de Pescado y Camaron, Anticuchos de Carne and Paella, I couldn't decide what was the best. The Ceviche was delicious, the steak was seasoned perfectly and the Paella was one of the best I've ever had. The atmosphere was quiet and more quaint, so probably not the best place to take a large group, but I was in a small group of 4, so it worked well. There was a lot of cool art on the walls, so interesting to look around, but also had an authentic Peruvian feel, which was a nice change from some of my regular haunts. Terra Sur is also a bit off the beaten path, so if you're not looking for it, it may be hard to find without a recommendation. I'll be back for future visits I'm sure as there are a number of other menu items I'd like to try.

I had the Papa Rellena to start me off and then the Lomo Saltado to finish things off. The food here is excellent. The only reason I didn't give it a higher rating was that the service was insanely slow. Part of it may have been my own fault, as I came here around 8pm or so and it was already quite packed. Still, I didn't like having to wait so long to put in my order and get my food. Given how busy it was, I would have thought they'd be anxious to get rid of me... yet, still, the wait to pay my bill seemed just as long as for getting the food. If you come earlier when it isn't so busy or if you don't mind waiting, definitely give this place a try.

Ummm Ummm Good! This is the place to come to. I had the duck and my goodness it was good. My friend had beef anticucho and it was delicious. I truly recommend this place and I don't do that much. Delicious! Service could have been a little better but the food made up.

Let me start off by saying that Peruvian food happens to be my favorite! I am a huge seafood lover so the most important dishes to me are the Ceviche Mixto and Jalea. I used to frequently dine at two Peruvian restaurants in Tampa (Machu Picchu and Happy Fish) and they used to be so amazing to me. Lol. Now I am slightly embarrassed to admit that! Lol. This restaurant puts these two to shame. Pricing is more expensive than the other restaurants, but the flavor in the food, the presentation in the plates, and the ambiance is SOOOO worth the extra bucks spent at Terra Sur. Now, my first experience with their service was not the best. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and we were a party of 10....this was TOOOOOOOO much for our waiter! The food on the other hand was AMAZING!!!!! I've came here plenty of times after (because the food is that amazing) and have yet to experience bad service again. My reviews on the appetizers: -The "Yucca Frita" was delicious! I find it pretty funny that I'm even reviewing this because you would think frying yucca shouldn't be too difficult. BUT this place makes it just right. They were just extremely fresh (not stale like some places). I normally like eating the yucca with their green spicy sauce which is also different than what I am used to. It's more like a paste than a sauce and very spicy which I do like but not too fond of the paste texture. -My absolute favorite appetizer thus far, has got to be the "Tostones con Carne." The tostones are fresh, not stale, not soggy...they're just perfect! Order this appetizer if you enjoy eating tostones. The Ceviche Mixto is absolutely the best! It is extremely fresh and the amount of lime used is PERFECT!!! The Jalea is also amazing but be sure to order the "Leche de Tigere" as a dipping sauce (this is basically the lime-tasting-sauce used in the Ceviche Mixto). I enjoy their Lomo, Pollo, and Mariscos Saltado. Their menu has sooooo much variety (this is almost unheard of at most Peruvian restaurants)! I enjoy trying something new every time I visit. Some of the dishes I would recommend you pass on are the following: -Ceviche en Crema de Aji Amarillo- It was basically Ceviche Mixto with Aji Amarillo sauce which made it taste extremely dry. If you're looking for spicy, order the Ceviche Mixto with their red spicy sauce on the side. -Saltados Nikkei- It tasted kind of like Chinese food (due to the oyster base) but extremely plain in flavor. -Sangria- Although I am no wine connoisseur, I will pass on their sangria because it's just not strong enough (if my BF can drink it then believe me when I say it tastes more like juice :). Enjoy :)

While the food was good the service was terrible. We joined two other couples and unbeknownst to us the regular customer and the waiter decided to split the bill into thirds. We ended up paying about double what we expected. I asked the manager if he would comp us another meal for the extra price and he said no. I guess that's the South American way of doing business.

I love this place! Peruvian food is wonderful! I have had several items on the menu. I enjoy the ceviche! Saturdays are busy and they don't take reservations for large parties but you can usually get in without a problem. They have a good selection of beer and wine! The prices are reasonable and good portions!

By far, this is THE best Peruvian food I've ever had. I've tried a couple other restaurants in larger cities and their food is great but, Terra Sur Cafe now has another person who can't wait to go back. I had the Arroz con Mariscos, my buddy's had the Tallarin Saltado with Chicken and his wife had the Risotto de Camarones. We also split 2 appetizers between the 3 of us. Everything that came out of that kitchen was fantastic. I tried all 3 dishes and would order any one of them again. My friends and I have decided that when we go to Terra Sur, we've pretty much decided that we're not going out anywhere else for the evening. The food is so unbelievably great and their servings are so large, you pretty much eat until you can't. I'm sure it says something about our lack of self control but also about how their food is so tasty. Don't go here if you're on a diet or don't want to find a new restaurant that you crave everytime you're hungry. There are plenty of choices for dining in Carrollwood but Terra Sur is one you must try. I can't believe that I'm the first person to review this place on yelp. We also had some sangria, which was just fine. The only weird thing about this place is how warm and inviting the interior is for a restaurant in a strip mall. Yes, this is in a strip mall but, don't let that dissuade you. Also, our waitress was friendly, nicely dressed and very attentive. This was by far my best dining experience in Tampa since I moved here 4 months ago.

Very nice atmosphere and the servers are top notch. Plates are huge and presented very well. Lots of interesting art work on the walls to looks at. They have a great wine selection and the cappuccinos are amazing, CPAS is a tappas place that is owned by the same people and they share a kitchen. It too is a great place to kick of an evening with some light fare and a good glass of wine.

I've been to Terra Sur twice and I've loved it both times. I chose to go here for my graduation dinner. The staff is knowledgable, friendly, and just awesome. The food is incredible. Love, love, love this place. Do yourself a favor and order the ceviche mixta. If you are feeling adventurous, try the beef heart dish. It's all good stuff.

My first experience with Terra Sur was at the kickoff event for Dine Tampa Bay. They were sampling some awesome ceviche as well as some steak and rice. It was so good I put it on my short list for next restaurant to visit. Before I could make it there I found out it was one of the destinations on a Sangria Tasting Tour I was taking part in. They did not disappoint and in fact among the 30 people on the tour Terra Sur was voted #1 among the six restaurants we visited. Their ceviche is fantastic and their white sangria is fruity and refreshing. You won't be disappointed.

WOWWY WOWWY WEEE WHAAAA!!!! I am in love with this place. Ok so I saw the reviews on this place and had to give it a try. It's in a little plaza off Ehrlich with no real anchor. I would say the space is about 2500 sq ft, it sits about 60 and my god it is amazing. The first thing I noticed while sitting down was that me and my fiance were the only 2 people in the place that didn't speak Spanish. Every guest and employee were speaking Spanish to each other, we looked at one another and said this place must be good. GO THERE We looked at the beer menu and to our surprise they had about 100 different beers by the bottle, we tried 6 different kinds allowing the server to chose and they were all great lager's. We peeked at the wine menu and it was equally as impressive and the prices were fair too. GO THERE We started off with a civeche sampler and I have to say all three styles were amazing. 3 levels of spice, 3 different flavors, and the only problem was trying to decide on a favorite, so we just demolished all three. For the main coarse we split the paella, it was absolutly perfect. The rice and veggies were fresh and cooked to perfection and the meat was as well. It was a longer lunch than usual but with the relaxed atmosphere and the signals we were giving to the server I won't hold that against them. I would say the weakest part of the experience was service, their servers are very unpolished and seem to be family and friends, they all must have to speak fluent spanish to even be considered so I will let that slide. Also I would serve myself to have food this fresh and tasty. GO THERE. GET THE PAELLA

I was skeptical because of the sign outside but as soon as you step in, that hesitation is gone. The place is classy and the food is great. Our waiter was the bomb. For those who haven't been here before, call to make a reservation. Nothing worse than getting cut down when you get here. Great beer selection and their wine selection is amazing. Where do they put all these wines? Anyways. Overall, great food, great atmosphere and it's in a quiet part of Tampa.

Just had our first meal here. Chose the restaurant based on reviews, and it did not disappoint! Food was fantastic, sangria was delicious and plentiful and Amanda was terrific. The pace of service was perfect - not slow but not hovering. Had the ceviche sampler for appetizer and skirt steak. Food was great and plentiful - looking forward to leftovers tomorrow! Would recommend making reservations.

Delicious and reasonably priced Peruvian restaurant. Incredible ceviche, octopus and salad. A must try in the area. The place is very nice, service is great. If you are around, stop and try.

I love this place. Excellent ceviche - recommend the three mix sampler. I forgot which entre I had - that's how good the ceviche was. I travel to Tampa several times a year and this is one of my must visit restraunts. Also suggest having the sangria. My favorite is the passion fruit with cava. With the sangria and ceviche, no wonder I forgot what entre I had.

Went to Terra Sur based on a friend's and Yelp recommendations tonight. Started out with the Monk in the Trunk Amber Ale...delicious...highly recommend it. It's a microbrew and very good. For an appetizer I had the Tequenos and Yucca combo plate. Very tasty with two dipping sauces. My friend had the octopus in olive oil. It was sliced thin, very tender and roasted just right. Too often octopus is overcooked or cut too thick so it's like chewing rubber. This was perfect! The highlight was the Ceviche Mixto. What I liked about it was that it wasn't swimming in a bath of lemon/lime juices but was arranged artistically on the plate covered with slivers of red onions. One nice touch that I've never seen before is the use of corn....hominy and roasted corn kernals. The counterpoint of the soft, almost grape-like hominy, with the crunchy but not hard, roasted corn kernals was wonderfully tasty and interesting. The fish, squid, and octopus were flavorful, spiced just right, and firm so you know it was fresh. I didn't think it could get any better until the waitress mentioned the mango cheesecake. If you can't eat another bite, get a slice to go...you won't regret it!

I have been to Peru, and this food is even better than the real thing! (They have perfected it for american taste) The Mixta Ceviche plate was awesome, as was everythign else! I doubt you could find a better Peruvian Place in FL, Though the Price could be better...

Wow! This was our first experience with Peruvian style cooking. It was delish! I love different stuff, so beef hearts sliced, marinated in chili paste and grilled was right up my alley! Be careful of the pink sauce on the side- it has a bite. Ceviche pescado was very fresh. The fish was, admittedly, overpowered by the lime, and some on the bottom wasn't "cooked". I had some seafood and rice dish which was delicately seasoned and again, fresh. One child had the steak on French fries and cleaned his plate, while my wife had the catch of the day fried and topped with a red sauce and shrimp. Scrumptious! A ribeye for another child was tasty, but a little chewy. At least the pieces she gave me... I looked at the wine list and gave up. Too many choices. Their manager, sight unseen, took into consideration our food choices in picking some nice pairings for us. They also have a ton of beers. We had dulce de leche cheesecake and tres leches because they were home made. Neither will disappoint, but I preferred the tres leches. I recommend it, and really look forward to our return.

Was visiting to Fort de Soto for Spring Break when I found this little gem through Yelp. Had the Ceviche Mixto which was fresh. I was completely surprised at how the ceviche tasted very fresh. Peruvian food is one of my favorite food. Thankfully, they didn't botched this dish. I had the arroz chaufa with chicken. It was pretty good, but unfortunately the rice is a undercooked. This was kind of a turn off for me because of the undercooked rice. Honestly, it will be a good arroz chaufa if it had used fully cooked rice. I suggested the bistec a la chorillana. The chorillana sauce was delicious. The steak was juicy (he'd asked for medium). The yuccas were crispy on the outside and not mashed. The arroz that came along with his meal was once again undercooked. The sangria was pretty damn good as well. Can't go wrong with a glass of sangria in the hot weather of Florida. It was 6 dollars too. Cant go wrong with that. Forgot to mention about the portion size. The portion size here is really big! I could totally make my arroz chaufa to be my lunch for the next day, and my date's meal was pretty large sized too. Anyhow, if I come back around Tampa again. I will defiitely give this place a second try.

Very nice food with a great atmosphere to go with it. I've been there a few times and my favs were the pescado a la macho and their paella. Amazing. Actually, everything that comes out of that kitchen is amazing. Stop by, you wont regret it.

I am Peruvian, thus love the cuisine. Terra Sur has some mediocre dishes. I visited during Tampa Bay Dining week a month or so ago. It was the second to worse service I have ever experienced! We ate outside and the male waiter (it was a late Saturday night shift) was horrible. He brought out the wrong wine for me to drink, never refilled my water, did not ask how our food tasted and forgot to bring us a pen when it was time to pay the bill. Overall, I am not going back until they can afford seating hat is inside only and to train the staff there. The food is also nothing to rave about and thus I am done with Peruvian dining in the Tampa Bay area.

I am a regular at Terra Sur Cafe. I keep on coming back for the Jalea, Ceviche Mixto, Lomo Saltado, Arroz con Mariscos,Parihuela,Pescado a lo Macho and the Sangria is to die for. Sometimes the service can be a little slow but it has surely gotten better. The price point is a little high but obviously I don't mind paying. They are opening a tapas bar next to the restaurant at the end of the month, I can't wait to see what it has to offer. If you LOVE ceviche....you've gotta try the ceviche here.

Love the ceviche!! Always get the mixito plate of ceviche, its soo good, I never want to order anything else!! We have done the small plate thing a time or two and everything was excellent. We've been here many times and any time relatives come to Tampa, this is where we go! Service can be slow, but considering how many times we come here, overall, its great!

Terra Sur Cafe's first impression was an ok one. I went with a big group of friends to celebrate someone's birthday. This restaurant is petite and cozy. In short, you cannot dine here with a big party of friends and expect to get adequate service. You will feel claustrophobic. Our waiters also did not seem that happy they had to serve our monster size party. I waited 20 minutes for water I requested and eventually had to ask a different waiter for some. In the end, I got my water and the food was very tasty. Now if you read this far you may be wondering why I gave Terra Sur Cafe 4 stars after my previous complaints. Well, my second visit to Terra Sur Cafe was more enjoyable. I went with only a few people so we didn't feel cramped. Our waitress was also very polite and welcoming of our visit. I've been to a few Peruvian restaurants and I must say this one tops them all as far as style. The environment is classy, decorated with hundreds of wine bottles and art. It definitely makes you want to stay and chat with your friends. Or consume your food slowly so you can enjoy the scenery. Their portions are smaller than other Peruvian restaurants, but the flavor in their food is good. I ordered Ceviche Mixto and it came out great. The plate was dressed just as impressive as the restaurant's walls. In all, this place serves good food and the owner clearly understands the importance how a restaurant is perceived by the decorations and cleanliness. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys Peruvian food and a pleasant place to dine.

Wonderful Peruvian food and as close as it gets to "real peruvian", or so my boyfriend tells me. The atmosphere is inviting, relaxing, and upscale. The food is full of flavor and variety. Definately a must visit!

my husband and I were delighted with the quality and value of the meals during our visit... the morcilla in the chorizo/morcilla starter was tasty and moist... I had parihuela (in my parents' native Spain, zarzuela) -- and I was astounded at the amount of seafood and how flavourful the broth was for under $20! dessert was lovely -- a nice spice cake made up for no flan on the dessert menu... The sangria was a bit too sweet for me, but my husband was in love with it... Definitely recommended -- we plan a return trip next time we're in Tampa!

Went for girls' night. It's a little dark (I was holding the menu to the light to see the lettering) but once my eyes were accustomed it was fine. I was impressed that there were separate beer and wine lists - something for everyone. I have food sensitivities (gluten and dairy) and allergies (coconut) and the staff were attentive to all my issues. Since the ceviche is made to order, they were able to do mine without the customary dairy ingredients. I really appreciate it when a restaurant doesn't make a big deal out of food issues and you still get a plateful of Delicious. I ordered the ceviche mixto and it was amazing. For appetizer I had the mussels (the only dairy and gluten-free option) and again I felt I made the right choice. Terra Sur has date-night ambiance and prices to match. We noticed that the restaurant got busier, but we never felt rushed to leave. The service at the beginning was a little slow (would have loved for our wine order to be taken sooner - it was a Friday evening after all!!), but we had service when we needed it and there were no mistakes or missteps. One convenience - we had 5 separate checks and they were even able to divide the cost of the bottle of wine we ordered between the 2 who shared it. Smaller details like that make it easier to want to go back. Because of the prices I can't say I'd become a regular, but I'd definitely recommend Terra Sur for a nice night out.

Good food, terrible service. The staff is very unhelpful with your questions. I called to make reservations and the lady on the other line told me that she couldn't do that, yet upon arrival we were told we could not be seated because there was a large party taking up half the restaurant. They need new management ASAP.

Best Peruvian restaurant outside of Peru! Food and service are outstanding. My husband and I go there very often. Lots of good things in the menu, our favorites are "Aji amarillo ceviche" and "Picante de Mariscos."

Absolutely LOVED this place. This is by far the best Peruvian food I have ever had in Florida. I ordered the Saltado de Pollo (a chicken stir fry with an assortment of spices, onions, tomatoes, fries, and rice), which was absolutely delicious! My boyfriend (who happens to be from Peru) had ceviche, which he said was absolutely wonderful, so you know this place is amazing. They also have a large alcohol selection as well. Definitely going to go here again whenever I am in the Tampa area.

In response to Mark Collins review of Terra Sur. I was one of the people at the table with him and his wife. I unfortunately invited them to dine with us at this wonderful restaurant. I was friends with his wife and she was sitting right beside me. The waiter was excellent as always and very helpful. He did as Dr. B requested and split the bill three ways, however all of the wine was paid for by Dr. B. We had all had a lovely evening and enjoyed the excellent service and the food was amazing as always. At the end of the evening when the checks came, I had no idea that there was any issue. As I said, I was seated right beside Mr. Collins' wife and had invited her, I would think that she would have said something to me at that time. Since then I have even offered to pay them for what they felt they were out, $40. Wow, all this over $40 that I would gladly have handed them right at the table had they complained at the time. I am shocked and embarrassed that $40 has caused this type of issue. The other couple that dined with us was equally shocked and embarrassed. My apologizes to Terra Sur.
