Love the place, always clean, the food flavor is delicious. The "queso" is overpriced..... Overall everything is really good!

Taco bus doesn't satisfy my craving for Mexican... It just doesn't do it for me... I would like to see the corn tortillas rolled out on a stone made dress daily please.. If you want to call it authentic.. They should take the time to make items from scratch.

Somewhat disappointed with the new location. It's close to my work but not sure I'll be making a return visit to this spot. The order takers are slow.....very, very slow. They had to keep getting up to get people their drinks. Would probably make sense to have a drink maker helping the three registers out to speed up the service. The woman who took my order was very confused by my request (no beans). Simple enough you'd think. No, it took a while to explain. What's going on with the prices? I remember when I thought Taco Bus was a good deal. But it was $9.50 just for a burrito and rice. I get that food costs are probably rising but at the same time I think the quality is going down the more they expand (noticed it at the downtown and USF locations too). The burrito was pretty good, but I've had better from Taco Bus... It was hard to get in and out in under an hour.

Update 12-2-2014: I waited in line for 20min and when I got the the counter, they closed the window and sent me to the back of another line where I waited for another 10 min. Needless to say, it will be a loooong time before I come back to this Taco Bus. _______________ I love the Tampa Taco Bus on Hillsborough. But this one just doesn't have it figured out. It literally took over 30 minutes for me to get 3 tacos. Most of the rest of the people in my group waited about 20min. The food seems to be of good quality but the staff seemed mostly disorganized. And they rarely called out numbers when looking for people to deliver their food. Needless to say, I saw most people waiting a very long time for their food. In short, don't come here unless you have an hour or more to commit for lunch. As for me, I may visit again. But I'm going to give them a month or so to figure out their business first.

I live a few blocks from the original Taco Bus. It is one of my favorite spots for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or 4th meal. I was quite excited when I heard the new that a Taco Bus would be opening in the same neighborhood as my work. Since it's opening 2 weeks ago, I have been twice. The first experience was a bit of a mess, being that they had just opened and it was extremely crowded. I figure this is growing pains. My second experience was much better as I called ahead and got my food as soon as I arrived. I like to order the plain ole Barbacoa Tacos typically, but I actually tried the Chicken Tostadas yesterday and loved them. The guac is also a highly recommended appetizer! I really do think that Taco Bus lives up to the hype and am happy to continuously support this local business.

I'd been to Taco Bus Tampa - loved it. Taco Bus - downtown Tampa - loved it. And when I discovered a Taco Bus was coming to the Brandon area I almost died. We were able to come here 7/30, with the opening being on 7/29. Now, I will say I was sad when I saw the sign up saying Spring 2013 - and that didn't happen. Now that it's open, I've wiped my tears and moved on to the yummy goodness that IS taco bus. Food: Consistent. I always get 2 tacos, no onions (ick!) with the Pollo Desebrada (shredded chicken with a green sauce) which is always delicious. We ordered the guacamole with chips, no onion also. They brought it out with onion and immediately brought us a new plate when they realized the error. No biggie! Service: awesome. The new guys what work here were very quick to check on us, bring our food and ask if we needed drink refills! Atmosphere: I LOVE how there is still the Taco BUS facade out front, where you pick up your food. There is plenty of space inside to sit as well. There's a neat middle high top area where you can sit at one long table. I haven't been here at lunch time yet, but with the businesses around the area can only imagine how busy it'll get. Nonetheless, it's always worth the wait. Yummy Mexican food at very reasonable prices always wins!

Taco bus always delivers on fast, delicious food and this new location offers nothing less. I love the space at this location and there is plenty of inside and outside seating. I would recommend calling ahead to order at lunch if you're pressed for time. Since this is brand new to Brandon tons of people flock there during their lunch breaks. I highly recommend the guacamole appetizer and getting 2-3 tacos to be able to try different meats (I really like the pork and steak). If you haven't been here and you're reading this review....trust me... Go...now.... You won't be disappointed :)

Tacos from a bus they didn't have burritos and quesadillas did you imagine pulling up to a long yellow school bus serving Mexican food. The food is wonderful enough to have multiple locations which is why they have a following. if you eat here you will be back

A friend was raving about this place, so we decided to try it. First time there, we were not impressed. The tacos were small for the price paid, and only average tasting. A few months later, we decided to try it again. It was worse! The tacos were covered in oil. I complained and they were replaced, but the staff acted like it was a huge deal for them to do so. We won't be going back again.

Friday was busy at 11:30 am. Friday special was awesome: Chicken Chipotle! Creamy and mild. Very subtle chipotle (don't complain...you can ad sauce if you want) . I had a quesadilla with the special and they added some cabbage and some other crunchy veggies that made it a happy dish. I had a bad experience on a different Taco Bus on a Friday when I had to wait 45 mins for my lunch and ended up taking it to-go. This was my make-up lunch...we're good now.

Taco Bus is a cute Mexican dive. Definitely worth trying. Slightly pricey but fresh, good quality food on the plate. I ordered Butternut squash appetizer and a Cochinida Pibil Tostada, Chido (all the extra toppings). My husband ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla combo. Thankfully he got extra beans & rice b/c I finished my meal and some of his sides. Portions could definitely be larger or just order more! Overall worth the trip.

Came back for breakfast a few days ago after my initial attempt was unsuccessful. Had a chorizo burrito with eggs, cheese, tomato, onion, and jalapeno. Grabbed it to-go on the way to work. While the chorizo was delicious, I didn't find the overall burrito to be as delicious as your typical Taco Bus fare. That's a high bar to reach, I know. But if I had blind taste-tested this, I wouldn't know immediately that it was Taco Bus. Very standard breakfast. Pair it with the red salsa and you'll be over the moon. All in all, though, I'll stick to the lunch/dinner/drunk at 2am Taco Bus selections.

This place has the best fish tacos! Everything tastes fresh and flavorful, although I'm not a huge fan of their beans and rice. All of the meats are delicious, especially the pollo verde and the cochinita pibil. The veggies for toppings are awesome, love the onions! It's also nice to see a place that offers vegetarian and vegan options. The agua frescos are fabulous, I wait every year for the watermelon water, and the Horchata is delicious! It's moderately priced, but the quality is always consistent. I also like the indoor and outdoor seating, and the late weekend hours. Sometimes you get a late night craving that only a good taco can satisfy, and this place delivers!

We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. They were swamped. Because its a new location and thry were so busy I was concerned the food may suffer. Not at all! It was excellent. I recognized servers from the downtown location helping out. When we arrived we had 13 orders at the window in front of us. We had our order taken within 10 minutes and our food in another 10. Amazing job.

Places like Taco Bus are the perfect example of how superb food doesn't have to come w/ an uncomfortably stuffy atmosphere and outrageous prices. My hubby and I love their carnitas and carne asada tacos. We also order chips w/ guac to start w/ a couple $1.99 Coronas. The flavor of the tacos is amazing, but if you prefer burrito or some other style, they'll make it for you. Just choose your filling. For very little, my hubbie and I leave feeling full and like we had the best tacos in the Bay! If you've been to other Taco Bus locations this one's nice because it has a much bigger indoor seating area for those sweltering FL days.

I attended margarita fest and the line at taco bus was insane. So you could imagine my excitement when I learned about the Brandon location. Boy, was I disappointed! We were told to seat ourselves and someone would come by to take our order. After about 20 mins and asking this man who I think was the manager (who I figured would just take our order but didn't) he told someone to come take it. We ordered and I hoped for some great food since the service was not the best. The carne asada tasted like it had been sitting for while and had a lot fat. Had the food been what I expected I could have over looked the horrible disorganized mess but it was sadly a disappointment. When we went to sign out card slip they have us a green marker to sign with. Hopefully the downtown tampa location will be better.

Whoa so for the past 8 years I've ordered a steak burrito no rice no beans. The meat quality and flavor has been the reason why I come back and recommend this place. First as they expanded I noticed the burrito got smaller...no big deal the quality and now more convenient locations made sense for the business to cover its increased overhead. Today I bring my mom after raving about the place and the "steak" is now shredded, ground, greasy, hamburger at best. I went and asked maybe they gave me the wrong one. No that's the right one so I asked did it change over the last couple months? No been the same for a while. I looked perplexed then the employee asked when did we change the steak?....oh last couple months. Not good! Lost size and quality! Taco Bus just became another fast food joint! Eat at Moe's I guess at least it's still steak. 2 stars, great sauce and salsa 5 stars but I can't eat just salsa and sauce that's not how u got to the top of the food chain! I still want good carne!

Was in the area so I thought I would try it again and I have to say I am still disappointed the Spanish rice was dry and nasty. the beans tasted horrible. tostadas are small and overpriced. ... Overall again very disappointed. Seriously 11 bucks for 2 small tostadas and some rice

Taco Bus is definitely worth trying. My dad came to visit from Tallahassee and had heard about Taco Bus somehow and he had to try it. It was good, authentic food at a decent price. Will definitely go again.

  • Norris B.

The Taco Bus food is good but overpriced in comparison to other similar Mexican restaurants in the area. I got a 2 taco chicken combo with an appetizer with an additional small drink and it was 20.00. While the appetizer was listed as "large"; it was on a small plate. Overall, all portions were small compared to other Mexican Restaurants in the area Chips do not come with the meal and it is basically a walk up order yourself style restaurant. The tacos were very fresh and good, the butternut squash appetizer was tasty. While they may have a higher quality food product, the value is low.

This place might surprise you! The food is very good! I have had a lot of Mexican food, and this one was definitely good! We sat outside which is very nice and rustic, the only thing was the Mosquitos but besides that it was nice. It is a must try!!

I've been a Taco Bus fan ever since a friend took me to this strange little hole in the wall on Hillsborough Ave. several years ago that I'd never gone to unless he hadn't taken me. It's been love ever since, for Taco Bus that is. I really enjoy the Falkenburg location the most. It's near my office, it's newer and I like the patio area. My favorite is the chicken taco on flour tortilla and I love, love the guacamole here. Everything's always fresh. Seems like over the years the refried bean recipe has changed but I like the new version. I suspect it either has a different fat/oil or they've cut back on the lard. My non-carnivore friends really go for the vegetarian options (butternut squash), my sister loves the shrimp burrito and hubby's a big fan of the pibil (they have a special ancient pork recipe). They added a combo plate option lately that includes rice, beans and a drink for $2.50 (I think) and a 2 taco combo plate costs about $8, very reasonable for good, fresh food. This is not Taco Hell so don't except 59 cent tacos and mystery meat. This is Taco Heaven.

Once was great...portions,price,service....since they have grown from a "bus" on Hillsborough Ave to like 6 full service restaurants they have fallen back a little...still very good food...give them a try if you never have....I suggest the Hillsborough Ave location...they still have the original bus!

  • John-Paul B.

I am a long time customer of the Taco Bus. I have eaten at the original location on Hillsborough Ave dozens of times. It has always been great. Taste was fantastic and food was big enough for a real man to get full. This was not the case at this location. Food was bland and the chicken burrito was about half the size as the one from the old store on Hillsborough Ave. The facility is new and very nice but actually kinda ruins the experience if you are a custom to the real cantina feel you get at the original. By all means eat at the Taco Bus...just not this one. Make the drive to Hillsborough Ave...you won't be sorry!!!!!

Great vegetarian options. The offer food that contain tofu, soy steak, and black beans. Plus you can order and pay for your take out food on-line.

It's a bit pricey for Mexican food. But the flavors are good and the heat is there. Avoid lunch hour if you can, it can get pretty packed around here. When I first came here about 6 months ago, I was expecting it to be similar to the Hillsboro location (i.e. taco BUS). Ok, so there's a mock bus there, I guess that serves the name. Dining room and outside patio areas are always clean, staff are friendly, food is good. Four stars for overpriced tacos.

We met a good friend at the Brandon Taco Bus for lunch on the way to our vacation spot in June. This is another Triple D recommendation we had been dying to try for over a year, but we don't get to Central Florida too often. I had a burrito with ground meat and veggies, my guy had the Burrito Prenado. I had a Coke with cane sugar (bottled) as well. The food was great. The meat was lean, freshly cooked, and the veggies were crisp and fresh. My guy loved his food, and was ready for more, but we were so full we needed to walk it off. Everyone with our group really enjoyed their meals, and agreed it was worth a return trip.

Taco Bus isn't exactly what I would call 'cheap' for mexican food, but it sure is tasty. When I go, I like to get the barbacoa tacos or tostados. I ordered to go on the spot and got my order fairly quickly. On Tuesdays, they have beef kabob filling with bacon and on the weekends they have yummy carnitas. Taco Bus also has a great selection of vegetarian options, such as butternut squash or tofu. This location has a lot more space than the one on Hillsborough Ave and way closer for Brandon folks. It is strange that they chose Faulkenburg for their location though. Regardless, go try food from one of the best Food Trucks in America. You won't be sorry.

Great late night spot for the Brandon Area and I-75 Traffic. But late night only, there are other Mexican and Latin Restaurant that are priced similar, quicker and over all better quality of food. Still check out this late night spot and judge for yourself. Its still totally worth it on the late night.

This is the second Taco Bus location that I have tried and still believe that it's ok. First time here I tried the Ceviche and I was surprise it's made in some sort of tomato base. Second visit I decided to try the butternut squash and with all the seasonings it was very tasty it comes with big fried tortillas. Third visit I went back to the butternut Squash and added barbacoa, now they don't sell the meat separately so they charge me for a Taco and I told them I didn't wanted the tortilla so it was a bit confusing. I didn't find the meat had a lot of flavor but maybe that's what the sauce it's for except I found it to be too spicy for my taste. Now that it has been open for a bit the lines have gone down but be prepare to wait.

Since I used to love going to the one on Hillsborough, I was happy when I heard the news of a Taco Bus opening in Brandon. The food is very good, although I would work on pricing a bit.

Downgrading based on today's visit. As I said the staff at Brandon does not have it together! I called in my very simple order of guacamole, a Plato, and a pineapple water. Right before pulling in to pick it up it began pouring so after getting soaked running up to the window I received my order, ran back to the car only to discover they forgot my drink, ran in the pouring rain to get my drink and got attitude, then got back to my car and took a sip, GROSS!!! There was no ice and it tasted fermented, as if it went several days without refrigeration! To top it all off instead of the Plato I ordered I got a 1 taco! Wth taco bus!? I will be sticking to the hills borough location from now on.

Cool concept and interior. Very nice staff and fast service. I ordered a tostada with Carne asada. The meat was ok, tender but I couldn't taste any seasoning. The guacamole was probably the best part overall and the use of shredded cabbage instead of lettuce was refreshing . Overall I had a craving for some authentic Mexican food and still do :'(

Stopped in here for my first Taco Bus experience a few weeks ago. I have never been to the other locations, but have heard about them for almost 4 years now! I'm never close to the other locations and too much of a prude to end up on Nebraska Ave in the wee hours of the morning, I guess? I ordered the creamy chipotle chicken plate (daily special). It was SO GOOD. A huge pile of shredded chicken, rice, 3 soft corn tortillas, toppings (lettuce, tomato, sour cream), and a selection of sauces to pick from on the table. I couldn't finish my plate alone - portions for the plates are huge. Everyone in my group liked their dishes which ranged from toastadas to burritos - all impressed. It was a busy evening, but our orders were out fairly quickly and the food was fresh. Prices were good! My whole plate of food was $7-8. I like that they have an air conditioned dining room with access to the soda fountain at your own refill disposal. there is a nice sized covered out door area near the "tacobus" too. I'll be back despite the mediocre reviews that have been posted as of late.

New location in Brandon and in my opinion is just as yummy as HILLSBOROUGH site. Large outdoor seating area. Self service soda and iced tea. Family friendly. Ample parking. Quick service. Love the taco bus!

Tried this place on opening week and although the wait was long, as they worked out their kinks, it was the usual Taco Bus experience that has made this place famous. The new location has plenty of outdoor and indoor room and is a very convenient to get to from any place in the Brandon area. Their call ahead would probably be a good idea if you are on a time constraint and would help alleviate having to wait in line. Typical Taco Bus fare and you can't go wrong with any selection.

Taco Bus was a huge letdown for me. When they first came to town, everyone I talked to was excited for their arrival. I gave them 3 chances and each time was more disappointing than the last. The first visit experience was understandable to some degree. They had just opened and the lines were somewhat long. After waiting 15 minutes to place my order, I patiently waited 45 minutes for my single steak burrito to arrive. My excitement to get my meal was quickly squashed when I opened it up. There was hardly any filling and the extras I asked for were MIA. After waiting a couple of weeks for the madness to die down, I decided to give the Bus another try. This time I decided to use the website so I didn't have to fight any lines during the ordering process. It was quick and easy and I was told exactly when my meal would be ready, which was around 20 minutes or so. Once I opened my meal, I was pleasantly surprised to find it exactly how I ordered it. My seemingly good experience soon took a turn for the worse when I started to eat my meal. While I didn't think it was possible with the amount of ingredients, the chicken burrito was almost devoid of flavor. After a good drowning in sauce, I managed to barely finish it. I realize places can have off days so I decided to give the short bus one last try before I wrote them off for good. I tried a different chicken burrito and, to my pleasure, it came pretty quickly. Upon first bite, I knew I would never ever be back, even if I was poor, starving, and they were handing out free food. The chicken, which was supposedly marinated, was so dry, I could almost feel it stealing water from my mouth before it even touched my lips. Unlike the last time, there was a hint of flavor, but I wish there wasn't because it was almost sour (and not the good kind from cream). I gave the Bus their 3 chances and they struck out. I highly suggest finding somewhere else to eat.

Ehhhh... less than impressed. After many friends and family members recommended this place we finally decided to give it a try. I ordered the Carne Asada Tacos and did the meal and my wife did the Chicken Tacos meal. I regret not trying any appetizers after all the positive reviews on Yelp mentioning the guacamole. Anyways, the food came out and for $10/plate I wasn't expecting the best taco of my life but something a step up from the cheap Mexican places around here. We were very excited based on looks alone, the plates aesthetically looked great! My Carne Asada was chewy which wouldn't be a deal breaker in itself except that it also had NO flavor...Literally none at all. I thought maybe it was just being overpowered by the slight flavors of corn tortillas and cilantro so I took out a piece of steak out of my taco and ate it by itself and sure enough, no flavor at all (not even a beefy flavor, really really odd if you ask me). The beans were good and honestly, the best part of the plate. The rice appeared to be delicious with veggies (corn, peas, etc) but after a couple spoons of rice, I came to the conclusion that it too was suffering from lack of seasoning. I've never had such a bland plate of food in my life. My wife's Chicken Taco meal came out looking nice as well and she was excited to try it. After looking at her taco's for about 45 seconds I asked if everything was ok and she responded "why would my chicken be yellow?". I assumed it was some type of marinade and convinced her to try it. After one bite, she looked very disappointed. I asked what was wrong and even with the sour cream she had, she stated it was extremely dry. The chicken, same as the beef, had NO flavor. She said the beans were delicious and had the same opinion as me on the rice. How a restaurant, with such a great reputation, forgets to season their food is incomprehensible. The only saving grace making both of our meals somewhat edible was the fresh cold salsas on the tables. After all the great Yelp reviews, I thought maybe we ordered the wrong items/meals/meats and on the way out saw a few people with burritos and quesadillas that looked fantastic. I then saw them covering them in salsa and shaking what must have been a full teaspoon of salt on each bite so maybe I wasn't the only one that thought the meal was lacking. In summary..... Pros: Unique menu, Interesting concept, Bus parked outside to order from, Food delivered to your tables, Cold salsa on each table, Indoor & outdoor seating Cons: Food severely lacking in seasoning, High prices for the quality of food being served, Limited combo selections. Will we be back? Only time will tell....

Love, love, love Taco Bus. Happy that this new location opened up and is closer to my house. I agree with the folks that are disappointed with the prices going up and the portions getting smaller. This has happened, but the taste is still EXCELLENT!! Stop by there often, good thing I don't live across the street.

I've gone several times after trusting my fellow yelpers and I have to agree that I am a fan. Is it the best I've ever had? NO, I'm from Chicago, nothing here compares to food there but this is one of the best places to get trusty fresh food in the Tampa area. Try the "conchinita pibil" in your burrito, taco, whatever, it's delicious! Service is ok, they don't go out of their way to make you feel special but it's not like you're at a fine dining establishment. For the most part, they are fairly nice, can't say that I've ever encountered anyone being rude or nasty.

The food is okay, nothing special, but better than places like Tijuana Flats or some of the other chains. That said, for the amount of food given, this place is a rip off. A fairly small taco is $3. For the portion size, and what was included, it isn't worth more than a buck fifty. Also, the service is pretty slow. I know none of the meats are made to order, so I can't understand why the service is so slow. I ordered 3 tacos -- carne asada, pollo, and lengua, and the order must have taken at least 15 minutes. Also, the amount of time it takes to order is crazy. The lines were long, but they need to learn how to speed that up. I went the first (or second) week it was open, so that may have played into the delays, but it's still no excuse for a less than average experience.

Nice place for fairly quick casual meal. Food tastes freshly made. Had te carnitas taco and fish taco today on corn tortillas, with cabbage tomatoes cilantro. Tasty. One large quesadilla for kids to split. The butternut squash has a really great, different flavor. Would definitely come back.

  • Xavier R.

I had a carne asada quesadilla with tomatoes, onions and cilantro and a chicken taco with the same veggies and a large drink for almost $14....Ok, a little pricey but let's see what the food tastes like - not good. No wonder they're open until 4am on the weekends - anything tastes good when you're drunk! The steak looked and tasted like a street taco that I had in Tijuana at 4am (TJ street taco was better though, but then again that was after a night of partying), the chicken was decent, but nothing to brag about. Overall, I would save my time, money and taste buds and go to Chipotle or even Taco Bell for that matter!

  • Keri B.

Meh just about sums it up. It is very overrated and more expensive than it should be. The food, quit frankly, just wasn't very good. It was decent, and normal. Nothing to write home about.

First time to the Brandon location, beans were cold, order wasn't correct ( they did correct the mix up) the location on Hillsbourgh Ave was better. I will give them another try in the future to see if it is better next time.

portions could be larger for the price...went there to see what all the "hype" was about at the infamous Taco Bus...overall it was average...may or may not go back.

What in the world is going on here? Never seen more fuss over mediocre Mexican food, which to me is marginally Mexican, than the accolades bestowed on this place. I can't argue with their success however but to me ?????? Having spent most of my life in California I think I have a pretty good idea of what Mexican is. This is a mish mash of Mexi-Cubano-Spanish cuisine which on the surface sounds and looks ok but. Let's get to specifics, Ceviche was a glorified shrimp cocktail, not the marriage of seafood, onion, cilantro, tomato and cucumber all cooked by marinating in lime juice. The shredded beef, a twin of the Spanish ropa beef was tough and chewy. I could go on and on but I'll close with this thought, expensive . The bus fare is steep for what you get. California is littered with these roadside taquerias where similar meals would come in just over $10. Our check was over $30. Look, go there take a picture to prove you've been there and then eat elsewhere. Guy's not always right.

The first time I went to Taco Bus I was so disappointed (the one in St Pete). The chicken quesadillas were awful and every piece of chicken had gristle in it. I decided to give this one a try after my Fiancé told me how good the tacos were and I'm so glad I did because they're really good! They're no California tacos, but closest to it that you'll find around here.

Omg I love the taco bus in tampa. This one in brandon is a big disappointment . The service sucks the food is not great. Food lacks freshness. To expensive for what you get. Cold food yuck. Now I have to drive to tampa ...

Went here for lunch today. We both ordered the 2 taco dinner which comes with rice and beans. I got the butternut squash in my tacos and my friend got the chicken tacos. Both of us were pleased. We also ordered some chips and guacamole, which were not originally in our bag. (We ordered to go.) So if you order to go, make sure you check your bag before you leave! But overall the food was very tasty. I'll definitely be back!

Not having a good time here. I ordered online. Was given a pick up time and it took awhile to get the order. Then I opened it up and it's not even my order. Come on Taco Bus. I expected more

Omg... Is this even FOOD? Absolutely inedible! The cheese is totally overwhelming... Just awful! Seriously, Totally awful food. Go to Tijuana Flats if you want good, fast Mexican!

The food is the best Mexican in Brandon, bar none. It is a Hole in the wall place, with good food and not much else. If you want ambiance, etc go someplace else. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and online ordering for takeout.

My husband and I (when we were dating, three years ago) visited for a vacation and stopped by the original Tampa location. I've been lusting after Taco Bus for THREE YEARS. Nothing would do. Now that we've moved to Brandon, it's our weekly stop. The service is always great, not to mention the food is mind blowing. The El Hefe is a monster, my husband and I (we are good eaters) can split it and be totally full after! Filled to the brim with two proteins of your choice, rice and beans, veggies, guac and sour cream and cheese.. Heaven. The tacos are fresh and light, never stuffed too full, and always delicious. The quesadillas are our go to appetizer, and our favorite fillings are the portobellos, carnitas, chicken, or the butternut squash (don't knock it till you try it! It's filling, richer than you'd expect, and exquisitely tasty)! I can go on and on, but I have to close out with mentioning their horchata. I have to get one EVERY time. Every. Single. Time. It's creamy and refreshing and not too sweet. It's perfect. (I confess: I've taken it home and frozen it for later in Popsicle molds, and put iced coffee in it. Life changing.) You will NOT be disappointed!

I had the chicken Chipotle quesadilla. It was delicious, the chicken was juicy tender and flavorful. I noticed the dining area was very clean. The service was fast and friendly. I like the fact that the outside dining area is dog friendly.

Years ago I went to taco bus and to be completely honest I hated it. I don't remember what I got but it was full of grease. So I was hesitant on going again but was I surprised. The food was perfect & I'm not sure if it's due to this location is on a road we all don't take. It's always empty but if that's what it takes to get good Mexican food I'll take it. We will be returning!!!!

Tried this place after coming out of a concert in the MidFlorida Amphitheater.. It was the only place we found open late, nearby. This place is pretty isolated, there's nothing close by except a jail. Not exactly inviting late at night. I really loved the look of the bus outside... It was fun. You walk up to order and the girl helping us was not friendly or unfriendly... Just working. We took our order to go.. And didn't take too long a wait. We tried the preñado burrito and el plato with chicken. Nothing was particularly exceptional... Just ok. I actually really disliked the chicken. Simply not for my taste. My husband said the chipotle chicken was better. It worked out since it was open and we were hungry. Otherwise, i would skip it.

What a fun concept! The name may be misleading though, because while you do order at a window in the side of a bus, it's simply a prop. This is no food truck, it's a complete quick-serve restaurant that serves terrific (and authentic) Mexican food. The two tacos I tried (soft corn tortillas with pibil pork in one and pastor pork in the other--the pibil was better) were as good as any street tacos I've had, and the crispy vegetable accompaniments were very fresh. On a return visit I tried the tostada with pastor, which I didn't think was as good as the tacos. The dip duo (I chose queso and guacamole) was also excellent. At almost $8 it seemed a bit pricey, but the chips were fresh and the queso had a wonderful creamy spiciness.

Good fish tacos. Very fresh a little messy to eat-just the way i like them. Loved the verde sauce in table. Wish was closer to me.

It took me a few minutes to figure out the menu as it was my first time. I ordered the Burrito with Desebarada De Res. I was a little off put by how long it took to make. It was about 15-20 for my to go order. I was also really bummed that it didnt come with chips. Instead it cost $2.99 for chips n salsa and $5 for any other dipping sauce. $8+ for just a burrito and nothing on the side was a little much.. Once I got home and tried it, I was truely Amazed by the flavors in the burrito. It was like nothing I have every experience. It was a Fantastic explosion of flavors and crunch from the cabbage inside. I loved it!!! It was very filling.

  • Bo W.

This place is pretty good. All the ingredients seemed fresh. I would be giving them 5 stars, but they left out the queso and chips from my order. I did not realize it until I got home (ordered to go, blueray night). It was kind of a bummer. I'll be going back to try some other things on the menu as well as the queso dip. When I do, I will update this review as appropriate.

Oh, Taco Bus! The food is okay (not much flavor!) and the prices are not quite justified to me. They claim to be authentic, but the tortillas used are not hand-made. Instead, they're the kind that taste fake and stale. Their sauces are really nice though. I was not too thrilled about their food. It does not outshine fast food "pick and choose" restaurants. I find Qdoba and Chipotle to offer similar food without the hefty price tag. Also, their queso blanco dip portions are small. I also did not feel satisfied with my service. Firstly, the cashier is located in the bus, and you are responsible to order and pay there. That is very creative, but it was not that obvious - especially when no customer is ahead of you ordering. We waited very long as well for our order as well and it didn't seem too crowded. I think this place is overrated, especially considering how many restaurants offer similar non-authentic food (with great taste too) for cheaper prices.

Recently we paid a visit to the Taco Bus. My friend was telling us how much she loved the Taco Bus and how great it was. When we arrived, it was a bit confusing as to where do you order? Do you order outside at the bus that was attached to the building... or inside.. We looked like a bunch of lost little children. Finally someone advised us to have a seat and they would bring over menus. We ended up order a couple different items. The chips and salsa were out first... the chips taste stale. Not fresh at all. Then our meal items came out. I ordered the shrimp tacos. The shrimp were o..k. I pretty much only ate that because the taco part was now simply put... looked like soup. There was so much grease that the taco no longer looked like a taco. My husband ordered steak tacos and he said it was the worse that he has ever had. The plates were so shiny because there was soooo much grease in these tacos it was horrible. My friend said hers was not as good as the other locations that she has been to. The manager came over and we explained that it was not edible. We ended up having our meals comp'd. We most likely will not be visiting be visiting another Taco Bus.

Was not impressed and did not see what all the hype was about . Wish I would've returned my food. The chicken was not very good, no flavor .... And large chunks. Not very happy with my experience .

Perhaps I need to try a different location, but I'm not quite sure about all the hype... it has never not been busy when I've gone however and tonight was no different. It was extremely loud tonight which caused me to make my husband wait for the food while I sat in the car after ordering. I have to say basic service for the cashier, although I have to say she was nicer than the others I've encountered here. I've been there before and the food never been bad, but not ever my first suggestion nor choice, although I do like their cochinita. This trip I ordered a Mexican torta sandwich with no cheese as I'm breastfeeding and my daughter has a reaction to any dairy I eat. Because of this I asked how it was prepared and asked for it to be made so that I could enjoy it, adding guac to sort of make up for the cheese I'd be losing out on. I made it a combo with the rice and refried beans on the side along with a fountain drink for the extra two bucks. All together for four people it ended up being forty dollars give or take. They have one of those drink dispensers with the billion different coke choices which is always nice for the variety and I went ahead and got my drink and ran back to my vehicle while I waited for my to go order which thankfully didn't take too long. When I got home, however, I was less thrilled. Overall the sandwich wasn't awful but it was definitely toasted in butter which I wish I would have been informed of, ya know, perhaps when I mentioned that I couldn't have dairy...also the jalapeños on my sandwich were essentially a jalapeño sliced in half and thrown on to the cochinita which was just piled into the middle of the sandwich and needed to be reconstructed by me. When I had asked what came on the sandwich I was told beans. Lies :p I added the beans that came on the side after scraping of the cheese they had sprinkled on top of those as well. :/ I ate the sandwich against my better judgement and while my baby hasn't seemed affected by any of the dairy yet (and hopefully it was a small enough amount she won't), my own stomach feels wrecked.

Cute concept. The food was fresh but lacking much flavor and oomph. Saved by the really good green salsa.

    (3)
  • Tracy M.

So sad that this location still doesn't get it. A burrito needs to be stuffed. We both got the burrito with cochinita pabil (still delicious) and got a marginal amount of stuff. What's the deal? We both discarded about half the tortilla because there wasn't anything in it. You guys are killing me!

So you all know Taco Bus has some tasty eats...they do a great job with seasoning and flavors. And it has always been consistent for me. I love their shredded beef and all of their veggies are fresh. Prices are a bit high for task/quick service...but taste is awesome. I put it at a four star and definitely a recommendation for anyone to try.

This Taco Bus is one of my favorite places to go when I go to Top Golf (down the street). I've had the mobile Taco Bus and this fixed location is equally as good. The marinated mayan meat recipe is the most delicious thing in the menu! I am excited for more locations to open up in the TB area.

  • Lo S.

Ummm...I ate here simply based off it's proximity to my new hair salon. Keep in mind after sitting there for 7 hours with only a glass of water, I was hungry enough to eat from a buffet of hissing cockroach legs. Against my better judgement, I ordered a salad and cucumber and lime water. Healthy, right? If that's not begging for failure...I cannot fathom what would. When you're hungry, your brain plays a dirty trick and convinces you that the salad before you is not nearly as big as it should be. AND THERE'S only 5 shrimp. Oh yea...the cucumber WATER has so much sugar in it, it tasted more like lime molasses. Errr... Guess I need to order fat food next time.

Atmosphere was neat. Area was clean...employees were working hard. But i came for the food...not the extras Long wait to order but not too long for the food I got 2 tacos, Al pastor... Not worth 5.99 definitely overpriced They were Dry and bland Pork was cold and the corn tortillas tasted Store bought from walmart! $1.50 tacos in Ruskin @ the taco truck off 41 blow this out of the water! Feeling ripped off... Based on this meal. Not coming back

The first time I tried this place, I thought it was ok. Simply because of the fact that they served Cochinita pibil, I've gone back 3 additional times to try the burritos, tacos, and I really don't think I will be gong back. The beans taste of Can they were poured out of, I don't know what's worst that? Or the ridiculous portion of cold rice you Pay for.

Good food and delicious. Open till 4 am on weekends , can drop in any time and have EL JEFE . For 12.99 this is enough for 2 people anytime and order a bucket of beer for 10. Perfect way to enjoy Mexican food. The one on Falkenburg has lots of seating space and sitting here on a Friday night you can see tons of people drop in to eat or for take outs.

  • Kurtis K.

I work in the area and first visited when they opened...and it was a nightmare from how packed it was and the attempt to serve food at the same quality Taco Bus is known for across the area. Had I reviewed then, I probably would've given 2 stars for this location. That changed when I decided to try again this week. First off, it seems they have improved the menu and added some quality additions. The food tasted fresh and came out quickly. We sat in the inside dining hall and I should note the acoustics in that area are odd...small conversations really carried and it got louder than I would want for lunch. It was a quick dining experience that left me very satisfied- about all you can ask for at lunch!

  • Jen M.

"Broken English spoken perfectly." Don't be scared by the photos of the bus. You don't have to dine afresco unless you choose to do so. There is an indoor room with plenty of air-conditioning. This place has a funky feel and the food is excellent. Also many many vegetarian choices (tofu, Tempe and even vegan cheese) and choices for seafood lovers, too. Guacamole is great. Fast service. Fresh ingredients. You basically build you lunch. Hubbie had seasonal watermelon water which is awesome. Love this place!!

Whether your here during the day or late at night. Taco Bus always satisfies. Stop by and grub out on the burritos or tacos. You will not be disappointed. Also have vegetarian items for the non meat eaters in the world.

I love this place. I only wish they had one over here near Oldsmar. I long to have Taco Bus every so often. It would be more often if it didn't take me 1- 1 1/2 hours there and back home again. Their food is excellent though. I am originally from southern CA and the tacos are so similar to the places where I grew up.

I had the quest quesadillas. They were yummy. Seasoned to perfection. Ground beef mixture with authentic Mexican flavors. Others in my party enjoyed their meals as well. Service was fast and establishment was clean. I would definitely go back again on s date night.

For the very first time; I just ate some taco bus, catered food to be exact. Truth be told, I'm not impressed, it's not all that it's hyped up too be. Maybe because the chicken, steak, tortillas, rice and refried beans were cold and I couldn't taste any flavor. The only enjoyable part of my lunch was the sweet tea. It's ashamed to hear my colleagues and the whole department's dissatisfaction. I really wish it tasted better. Companies first and last time catering taco bus.

Let me start by saying I love the Taco Bus downtown but this was terrible! I ordered a chicken quesadilla. I specifically said I only want rice, cheese and a very small amount of chicken. What I was served was anything but! Two of the slices were filled with onions! YUCK! Two more were filled with pea, carrots & corn, huh?! And the other with what looks like leaves!!? I don't know what's going on here but it's nothing like the DT location. The indoor/outdoor seating is nice but it's kind of loud inside...

I'm obsessed with this place. It's my go to for quick and yummy Mexican. Whenever a friend is in town I always taken them to the Taco Bus. I usually order the fish tacos. I had never been a fan before, but these have me hooked. They are so fresh. I do agree that their pricing is a little high for the amount of food they give you, but I'm glad to pay it.

Great place that has friendly staff, quick on food delivery, and fresh flavorful food. I typically don't like my food covered in cilantro and they give you just the right amount. You get that burst of freshness that doesn't overpower what you're eating. The chicken tostadas are soooo good. My new favorite.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
