The staff is always friendly and the sushi is delicious. For a change the other night we tried the tempura and the teriaki chicken, which were equally as good. I have to say though that I am not a fan of the salad and the soup... they lack flavor and do not beg me to order them again. Overall though, it is one of our favorite places.

I used to work at Tanya & Matt's Ice Creamiest back in the day and stumbled upon this place when a coworker ordered her sushi to-go and brought it for lunch. I must say their Mexican roll topped with smelt roe was pretty good and it melted in my mouth. So after that I went there a few times to try their specialty rolls and their Halloween roll, which includes eel and black and orange smelt roe was really good too. The place is rather quaint and small for a sushi place and atmosphere is nice for a small get-together. I don't think it's possible to have large parties there. The prices were really decent up until recently they went up on their specialty rolls and even made them noticeably smaller. I was disappointed when I asked the manager and got a negative somewhat rude reply. I haven't been back there since.

Love it for years! My husband and I have been coming to Sushi Haru for 7 years. It is a little store front sushi restaurant with a full non sushi menu as well. The staff recognize us and always have a great smile for us. We mostly eat sushi and are very happy with the items we order. We really like the Rachel Roll and rock n roll #1 is tasty too. Mexican, Tampa, and Bagel rolls are always ordered and we will also order nigiri sushi on occasion and the test of just fish and rice has never been a disappointment. There are a few seats at the sushi bar and a few tables. This place is not big. It is next door to a Subway in the building. We have tried Sushi Alive which is basically across the street and definitely prefer Sushi Haru over the other hands down.

My husband and I had dinner here and all we have to say is we completely agree with Sherry G. in the description of the place. A nice quiet little place with really nice fresh sushi and nice friendly staff. So much nicer than the last place we went in the same neighborhood.

I had my usual nigiri salmon & eel and a few specialty rolls, one in particular the rainbow roll was excellent. The quality was right up there with Yoko & Caf Japon. I kind of found this place by accident, as me and my friend were trying to find Alive Sushi on Dale but it was not showing up on my GPS. A real "hidden jewel" Can't wait to go back!

I was super impressed with this little hole in the wall sushi place. Upon first blush it seems a little run down and perhaps less than spotlessly clean, but it's definitely worth overlooking the shabbiness. The fish is phenomenally fresh. I had tuna, salmon, and whitefish sashimi, and as loyal as I am to Takara, this is probably the best fish I've had in tampa. It does not taste fishy whatsoever. I will definitely be back here when I'm in the area!

Very quaint sushi place !! I would definitely say this is a hidden gem. The happy hour deals are pretty great, they have dollar sushi and three dollar rolls

This place has the best sushi in tampa hands down. There are idiots who only eat california and mexican rolls that claim sushi alive across the street is better but they just dont know their sushi. They actually prep the rice that gives the roll its flavor right here. The frisky snapper appetizers my favorite and i have a hard time picking a favorite roll. I like the spicy conch, crazy roll, rock n roll, dragon and rachael roll.

The food was great. But the hostess isnt the friendliest. The 1st time I came for $1 sushi happy hr I was too late. This time she made it a point to tell me there was a minimum $10 order. Okay, thats fine. I mean I was with my mom, I think between the 2 of us we can order over $10 worth of food. Im hoping it was a bad day. Ill come again and give them another try. Otherwise Ill stick with ocean blue.

I have been here many times, and currently is our favorite restaurant for quality and great tasting food. We have had both the sushi and kitchen food- and it has all been great! I like maki rolls, and their rolls are great. My husband enjoys sashimi, and he said their sashimi is the freshest and tastiest he has had in Tampa. I appreciate the quick and friendly service, it is not overly crowded, which means great service fast. I was a fan of close-by Sushi Alive- but my experience was tainted with poor service in the past- in fact, my husband is willing to get take-out there but won't go back for in-dining! And that is how Sushi Haru became our go-to restaurant! We enjoy the sashimi lunch/dinner entrees, teriyaki, udon noodles and regular maki rolls (spicy tuna, tampa, philadelphia, eel, kentucky). We actually came here for lunch last Friday, and ended up getting take-out for dinner too!! Come here for a more private, quiet experience in a cozy, clean environment!

Pompay roll & halloween roll. The best. Very nice staff and very attentive. Won't be disappointed if you order these 2 things! =)

Sushi Haru is very cute and pleasant on the eye. The decor is great! The sushi isn't the best I've ever had. On a really good day, it's ok. On a bad day, it's awful. Due to the price and quality, I can't justify returning.

I have dined here a number of times and the food is just ok, not awesome, not terrible. Last dined here in May and brought my parents. The service was good, the food was ok, but the atmosphere in this place is such a downer. It is not clean looking or inviting. A fresh coat of paint, a good cleaning of the windows, new wall hangings and replacing the crummy menus with something a bit more "presentable" would make a huge difference. There are so many other sushi places around, that I do not see any real draw to come here. everyone has sushi happy hour these days. Go early and stand in line at Sushi Alive or head down to Kona Grill for the best sushi quality and happy hour prices. Both offer a WAY better dining experience at the same price.

The rolls and service is great! I especially liked the Rachel roll and the Pompeii roll. Spicy tuna salad was amazing. With a mix of tuna, cucumbers, and seaweed per bite. The happy hour special should be abused!

Sushi Haru is my go to sushi restaurant, the sushi is top notch and all of the sides and appetizers are out of this world especially the fried rice. The service is always incredible and there is nearly no wait time for the food. There seems to be a lot of competition in the area but I wouldn't even think twice about them, after so many misses when it comes to sushi, this place is where to go, on top of fair prices they have the happy hour from 5-7 which makes eating here even more guilt free!!!! If you're looking for somewhere to go and are on the fence give sushi haru a shot, I promise you will NOT be disappointed. :)

This place is small compared to some other sushi places such as Cafe Japon and Motai, but the food is excellent. The atmosphere and the staff are very friendly, especially their sushi chef. Also the prices are good as it can get, for quality and tastefulness. They also have this apple sake, and tempura ice cream for dessert, it is delicious!!

The wait at Sushi Alive was 50 minutes and my friend and I were really hungry so I told her there was another place close by that offered happy hour sushi also! We went to Sushi Haru and there was no wait at all (Now I know why!). It was our first time here. From the beginning we did not feel welcome. The staff was not friendly and the atmosphere was strange. The rolls were decent, but by no means the best I've ever eaten. Right as we were leaving my friend's 1 year old son starting getting louder and louder. We were packing up our things to leave and a waiter asked the table next to us if they wanted to switch tables... To which they said no. I thought that was incredibly rude especially since we were obviously trying to keep him quiet and pack our things at the same time. I will not be returning to this restaurant and will wait the 50 minutes at Sushi Alive next time!

2nd time here for the Happy Hour 5-7 deal they offer, first time was great. This time we arrived at 6:15pm-were greeted within 5 minutes which was time to place drink and sushi order and we waited for 45 minutes for our food. the server brought the plates and chop stick set up and i asked him at that point to see a menu as we wanted to order more since it was taking so long to get our original order. he came with our food at 7:05 and still with no menu and I asked again for the menu and if we were still going to be charged happy hour prices and he said yes. It took us about 10 minutes to eat what we ordered...the owner came up and asked if we were done and i explained to her that we had asked for a menu to order more food and she brought us one. A regular priced menu. I told her everything we went through and we were told by the original server and she just said it was after 7pm. Didnt care to extend the offer, didnt care that I asked for the check at that point and didnt care that she was losing a customer. I will never go back. they intentionally took their time to push us past 7pm so we would have to pay more and the sushi isnt the best ive had. goodbye sushi haru

I love sushi Haru! I have been going for years. The staff is friendly and the best part is it is ran by a family so the resteraunt is a little small but that's what I love most about it. Very fresh sushi. I've seen signs recently that they have a happy hour (finally!) I'll defitanley have to check it out soon!

I ate at this restaurant for the first time last night. I typically eat sushi at Sushi Alive but there was a long wait so my boyfriend and I thought we'd try out Sushi Haru. The sushi rolls were good, though mine weren't rolled very tightly and were kind of falling apart. My complaints: I had the ginger salad and it was literally just lettuce and ginger dressing (no cucumbers or carrots which these salads typically contain). I also asked for spicy mayo and it had way too much mayonnaise for my liking. Lastly, the overall atmosphere of this restaurant is really a downer. The restaurant seems a bit unclean, the decor is old and it was so quiet and depressing inside. Sushi Alive is worth the wait in my opinion and I won't be going back to Sushi Haru.

Mediocrity is what defines this restaurant. It's not downright horrible but nothing makes you stop and say that this restaurant is all that memorable. Visually, the sushi looks appealing but, oh, if only the taste matched. I believe the fish is not all that fresh and I've had to, along with my partner, make some trips to the bathroom afterwards.

Love this place. The food and the staff are great, and very friendly. The rolls and miso soup are delicious! My boyfriend and I went for the first time the other day, and decided to go back a few days later because we loved it so much.

If you want fancy-schmancy decor and a 19year old dude who's had a 1 hour crash course in sushi-making after he was promoted from bus-boy, don't go here. If you want melt-in-your-mouth goodness and flavor that explodes in your mouth and induces you to make "When Harry Met Sally" yum-yum noises, you should be at Sushi Haru NOW. Each and every time we go, it's the same Sushi Chef, the same waitress, the same hostess and the same quality. These people know their stuff. Don't be put off by the fact that the menu doesn't feature glossy photos. We tend to eat with our eyes and actually reading the menu takes some getting used to but they do have some Sushi-themed artwork and, if all else fails, you can just point and nod & soon enough, your tastebuds will be partying. I feel more educated about Sushi in general after coming here (Now I actually know the names of those things I like!) and I highly recommend the Crunch Munch Roll. Expect to spend about $50 for 2 people to leave with a couple of beers and 2 full tummies (and maybe a couple of pieces of sushi for breakfast the next day).
