I had been meaning to try this place for a while. Service was friendly and fast. The atmosphere is very casual and good if you are bringing kids. We ordered the Caribbean appetizer and everything was very tasty, I loved the grouper bites and the fried cheese. Hubby ordered the mix n match fried seafood combo with grouper, oysters and clams. He really enjoyed it. I had the blackened scallops and I was impressed with the portions and flavor. It was cooked perfect and I had well over 10 scallops. Very surprising because I'm acostumed to getting only 4 scallops at other seafood places. Overall a great experience and I will Def come back when I'm craving seafood. My only recommendation is to come during slow times because I saw how quickly they get busy and it was just one server.

Disappointing lunch to say the least! I started out by ordering a sweet tea only to make a weird face to which the server came over immediately to see what was the matter. I had her swap out the tea immediately after explaining the strange after taste. I should've known then that this was the downward spiral to my meal. Because Yelpers were raving about the hush puppies I decided to give them a whirl and ordered a side to accompany my meal. They were the highlight and shining star of my lunch! Crispy on the outside and soft and sweetly flavored on the inside. These can be eaten perfectly alone or joined in perfect unity with the secret sauce - the choice is yours! Their name is Shrimp and Company yet their shrimp was probably the worst part of my meal. I ordered the shrimp Po'Boy which comes with a weirdly flavored coleslaw and fries. The Po'Boy barely had any shrimp on it - mostly lettuce and secret sauce which was very good and tasted similar to a remoulade sauce. The shrimp were coated in a crispy batter which was very tasty however they were so over cooked they were tough - the only saving grace was the bread they were served in between and secret sauce they were slathered in. Also like other Yelpers I found that they were a little pricey however I will say they offered a 10% discount for anyone dining for lunch. Although my lunch was served hot, service was good and hush puppies were uber yummy the shrimp did not knock my socks off which is sad considering they were the main attraction of my meal and reason I decided to eat here in the first place.

Although I'm from New England, I'm not a fan of seafood. I can handle lobster and fried clams but that's about the extent of it. So the times I have visited Shrimp & Co, I ordered either the fried clams, grilled chicken sandwich or a hamburger. The fried clams and hamburger were fine, the chicken sandwich is pretty good. French fries are decent also. I've always received very attentive service here. They're always quick to check up on things and refill my drink without having to ask. The ambience is good for a seafood joint. It has a beach picnic decor. Not fancy but better than what you'd expect driving by it. Tip: Check the chalkboard on the wall for daily specials and market prices.

We walked in at 345 and it was completely empty. However, reading the previous reviews, we decided to take a try. We got the mix and match Catfish and Fried Shrimp and for an appetizer we got the Deviled Crab Balls. The balls were fried a bit to.crispy but the taste was good. Also they were a bit spicy, so if you like spicy, this is your choice. The Fried Shrimp only came with 4 pieces and 4 Pieces of Catfish. Pretty tasty. I gave 3 stars because the decor could use ALOT of work. The benches are torn and dirty and the red and white checkered table clothes were very sticky. The air vents looked molded. Basically it needs a slight makeover. The waiter was cool, but he seemed very tired, I guess he had a ruff day with such an empty restaurant. Anyway, I wouldn't come back unless it's to grab just a REALLY quick bite.

This place has an amazing Florida basket that is full of shrimp, corn, potatoes, clams, and crab legs for under $25. It was loaded with at least 20 shrimp. You had to to take the heads off the shrimp, but they added amazing flavor to the spicy butter that they were steamed in. The service was great and the place was nice. I was the only person in the place, so at first I was hesitant. The food made it a great stay!

My momma bear comes here for lunch all the time and I decided to tag along this time. I am not much of a seafood fan, but dang. For an appetizer I had the fried calamari with this lemon sauce that came with it. UGH it was so good. Wasn't chewy and rubbery like most places. For the entree, I had the Mahi Mahi with the mojo seasoning, but it was a bit too saucy and salty. I asked if I could have it without the sauce and they delivered. Was very tasty and sweet after that. They served local craft beers which was a nice touch, so I indulged in those too. Great place for some nice fresh seafood!

I came here for the first time because I've driven past a million times on my way to work. It's the only restaurant that specializes in a mix of Louisiana/Southern influence in the area. They also offer some Ybor classics like "deviled crabs" and such. I wondered what the atmosphere would be like... It's very cute and low-key. The place is clean and the server is friendly. He is very chill- but makes you feel like you're getting served by family. :) I am on a diet- so the entire menu made me drool. everything on the menu looks delicious and unique to itself. I ordered the "green mahi sandwich" which is mahi (grilled or fried) with fried green tomatoes on top! Not exactly on my diet- but I couldn't resist! The sandwich was delicious and I can't wait to come back! :)

Cozy little seafood joint located on the edge of ybor. Shrimp po boy and fries was good, maybe a little too much sauce but it hit the spot.

Drove through Tampa and wanted to try some seafood. Ended up coming here because of their great reviews. Everything we had was great but one thing I don't see on the menu that my wife and I specifically remember about this place was the Alfredo seafood Cajun pasta. Although we enjoyed the other dishes here the Alfredo was perhaps the best tasting Alfredo dish I have ever tasted. When I come back to Tampa, I will be stoping by again.

We both had shrimp po boys and they were the best. It's one of those items for me, that I order whenever it is an option on a menu... And theirs was absolutely delicious! Will definitely be back to cure any future Po Boy cravings.

Ok, I REALLY want to give this place 4 stars. Really bad. I could even see it deserving 5 stars. Really, I could. But today... was not their day. Took the family here after a day of touristing (I know that's not a real word, but what to you call the act of being a tourist?) in the area. It appealed to every member of my family: fried seafood! The food was great. The hush puppies were amazing. My oldest daughter wants to go back, even though it's a 3.5 hour drive, just to have more hush puppies. The fried shrimp were excellent. The scallops were the best I've had in Florida (although the best in the world are in Portland, Maine). The calamari: perfectly cooked, although I wish they had the little body things and not just the rings. The remoulade should be bottled and sold at every grocery store in the free world. My complaint: the service. We got there for an early dinner on a Sunday and there was only one waiter. He was very friendly and I could tell that he was really good at his job, but he was the only one and there were a lot of tables. Water didn't get refilled. But the greatest sin of all: not delivering the tartar sauce with my dinner. It seems small, but when you love tartar sauce on scallops as much as I do, it's right below mortal sin. By the time I did get it, the scallops were no longer at their optimum temperature. I am going to come back one day. I'm going to try this place again. And I hope that I can feel comfortable hitting that 4th or 5th star next time.

A nice though slightly bizarre night here, of which I shall now tell. My party of 3 was shot down on a Tuesday night with a 90-minute wait at the Columbia. We decided to check this place out instead - an empty scene inside suggested we treaded the path of the few. The menu looked pretty good. My co-worker asked for the market price of the grouper. Sounded reasonable. So he decided to go for it - "sorry, we're out of grouper. Oh, and we're out of French fries too, in case you want them." A funny exchange, and I've never heard of a place out of fries, not that I wanted them anyway. I got pink shrimp grilled, and let me say I was surprised with how good they were - bursting with flavor. Hush puppies and corn rounded out my plate. The plate was pretty heavy with liberal butter, but it was worth it. Our checks were brought out without asking us for dessert, a rare time when we actually wanted it. I asked if the "Plant City Strawberry Shortcake" had fresh strawberries - quick answer: "No. Well, they are Florida strawberries, but we're not cutting them up in the back." Okay, key lime pie then. A few minutes later: "we've got a problem with making key lime pie. How about the strawberry shortcake?" Well, I guess so. A bit of a mistake: dead strawberry taste soaked in strawberry syrup. I should have taken the pre-emptive check as a sign. So an odd end to an odd beginning, but man that was some good pink shrimp. The place has potential, but it wasn't quite there that night.

The spicy slaw with baby shrimp was delicious if you like spicy. The hush puppies was seasoned with chopped herbs, the onions gave it a mouthwatering salivating flavor. The shrimp and dipping sauce was so good. The shrimp basket is the smaller portion and the platter give you more of the same items. I had the Gulf Shrimp basket and wished I had gotten the platter :-) I guess next time! I also posted some pictures.

I love shrimp so I was excited to try this place. My husband and I both got the shrimp po'boys. They were not the worst we have ever tasted but they were not very good either. The shrimp was overcooked and slightly rubbery, which was really disappointing coming from a place that supposedly specializes in shrimp. The service was very good. I felt bad for our server because we were the only table in the entire restaurant and he was obviously bored. This place wasn't horrible but there are too many good places to eat in Tampa for me to want to waste money here again.

I'm going to start this off by saying that I LOVE seafood. My boyfriend and I were craving oysters and we decided to stop here instead of driving all the way out to john's pass like we normally would. Well let me start off by saying this place stinks, literally. We walked in and it smelled kind of like sewage but we gave it a chance anyway. The oysters are cheap and for a reason. They were too briney and looked old. Some had parts of obvious oyster feces and she'll in them. The clams were okay but not worth the price and all of the seafood in the Florida steampot seemed old. We hardly finished anything and my boyfriend who ate most of the oysters started feeling sick and threw up multiple times. To top it off the bill was almost $60 for the worst food I've had in a long time. This place needs to be closed down, period.

Started off with the calamari and it was great. Got a triple combo platter and did not expect the amount of food that came with it. Everything tasted great and all the seafood was really fresh. I highly recommend it.

Was in Tampa for a trade show last week and stayed within walking distance of this restaurant. Had lunch one day and dinner another. Had scallops and clam strips for lunch. Scallops were delicious the strips were a little over cooked, but still very tasty. Dinner was absolutely delicious. Started it with the steamed little neck clams and they were sooo good, the broth was very tasty as well. Had scallops plate for dinner and they didn't disappoint! Service was excellent, decor could use some freshening up, but it's all about the food. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed the crawfish! That's how I want to start the review. Did I say I loved the crawfish? Ok aside from that the rest of my party had some great fried shrimp and fried oyster baskets. Nice and attentive service during a time when we were in a hurry. I recommend it and will be going back again soon.

This was our first time here, and it turned out to be the best food and value of any place we ate out at this vacation week. When we first walked in it didn't look like it would be anything great but the waiter provided great service and the food was even better! My 2 adult daughters and I all loved our food: I had pink shrimp, hush puppies, and slaw, they had shrimp, sweet potato fries, fish, slaw. It was presented so beautifully, and it tasted really great. We would come back here. We can't say that for any of the other many places we ate in Florida, one other in Tampa, mostly on Anna Maria Island but also Siesta Key one day.

Even though I got the Mahi Mahi burger with fried green tomato, it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. I far more enjoyed the chicken wings appetizer. Crispy crunchy on the outside and oh so tangy! Their strawberry shortcake was good too because it was not so overwhelmingly sweet -- just right. I would give it another try for something different on the menu. But I have to give them props for thw freshness. They have to go to the market daily.

Used to come here about once a week for lunch. They recently got rid of the lunch menu, so they lost me as a customer. So-so food, but way overpriced for what you get. Will be going to Shells on Dale Mabry from now on.

This place is amazing! All of their food is incredible, but their crawfish entree with a side of hush puppies and cajun coleslaw is better than anything other than possibly New Orleans. But beware, when the gentleman comes to take your order and he asks "how spicy would you like your crawfish" (and he will), if you say spicy expect to have a lot to drink and leave with your mouth on fire. So good. Best part is, you can meet up with friends there on a Friday afternoon, have one of the best meals of your life, and then walk down 7th St. to all the bars in Ybor.

Check in for a free glass of sangria. It's very good. One per table. This place isn't huge, so we had to wait a bit for a table. Then they told us we couldn't use a highchair at our table b/c the door from the kitchen would swing open and hit it. (We WILL be using one the next time!) My husband ordered the blackened Tilapia with a side of veggies and sweet potato fries. All of it was delish! I had the Florida Pink Shrimp (supposedly sweeter than the gulf shrimp) They were HUGE and I had 10 of them on my plate. I also had red potatoes and spicy slaw to go with it. YUMMY! The sangria was also very tasty, as was the Ybor Gold beer. I don't recommend the Gasparilla Madness chocolate empanadas. They came out well done and didn't have much filling.

Good fried seafood. A little pricey. Fried shrimp and fried oysters, you can order a basket or a po boy. Everything is pretty tasty however I feel it's a bit expensive. You leave smelling like a fried basket of grease.

Had a great time eating some good ol fresh seafood. Nothing but happiness and love for this place. I "Checked In" on my Yelp app and recieved a Free SANGRIA. My buddy had a Mai Mai sandwich & another buddy had the shrimp Something or nother. We all enjoyed our meal. I would def. come back!!

Second time here from Orlando and first time food was awesome with clam chowder to die for. Unfortunately they changed owners and previous chef quit with soup recipes so they don't serve it anymore! And they don't honor any coupons from Groupon or yelp for free Sangria. I would've overlooked it all but quality of food was so bad, I would have had a better dinner at chain restaurant like Joes crab Shack! Sweet tea gave me major di*****, should have known since it tasted like someone put tea bag in dirty sink water! Calamari was so overcooked it tasted like fishy chewing gum and Florida steampot was full of unclean shrimp and seasoning was a bit spicy and not much else to it. All in all may have been forgivable had it not taken FOREVER to get the food. It was definitely not worth drive and won't be back! Yelp should take the check in offer off for this business because they don't honor it!!!

Excelent food... Place is not fancy, service was really friendly and familiar, enough parking in the back. Fresh seafood with real sea flavor.

Went here for the first time and the service was terrible! We asked the waitress twice for water and never got it, and took a long time just to get her attention for the check. The food wasn't that great either, in my opinion. The fries crawfish was too salty. However, the ranch sauce that came with it was pretty good. I ordered a lobster po boy and it was average, again, too salty. My friend ordered a shrimp po boy and did not enjoy it too much. I was very disappointed with my first experience here. Hopefully next time it'll be better.

This place is a hidden gem in Ybor City, staff are super friendly and knocks Joe's Crab Shack over-priced seafood buckets out of the park with almost similar dishes and way cheaper. Calamari hit the appetizer spot! Louisiana seafood dish good enough for two! Now room for dessert, the chocolate filled empanadas tasted like hazelnut and so good to share with your partner :)

We enjoyed the fried crawfish & oyster platter, boiled crawfish, kids shrimp basket, kids chicken basket! The server seemed preoccupied.

Was suggested this place by the carhop at my hotel. I didn't want a fancy seafood place, but something casual. It was empty on a Monday afternoon, but sometimes quietness for a traveler can be nice. I got a free sangria for checking in on Yelp! That was a surprise. It was so-so...I wouldn't recommend getting it. Our server was this laid-back surfer type guy. He was very friendly and had good things to say about each menu item. The menu is almost all seafood, most of it is fried. The crawfish app was standard fried crawfish bits. My shrimp po boy lunch sandwich was adequate in size. The coleslaw was fantastic. Honestly, all fried fish tastes the same. The neighborhood didn't seem bad. Parking in the lot right across the street. The place isn't bad for a lunch or even a dinner.

I tried this place for lunch today since the line at the Cloumbia was humongous. Shrimp & Co is located diagonally across the street at the corner of 7th and 22nd, so you're serenaded by all of the truck traffic rolling out of the Port of Tampa. It's safe to call this place a hole-in-the-wall dive with well-worn tables and chairs, and your basic Florida fish house decor inside. The menu is a blend of New Orleans-meets-Florida Gulf Coast. There is plenty of straight up fried, blackened and broiled local seafood; a Lousiana Steam Pot with andouille sausage; a few Caribbean-influenced dishes; steamed crab of several varieties and even lobster. There were about a dozen bottled beers available (a good mix of domestic and imports) with a very basic list of house wine selections. My business partner and I both had cups of the homemade clam chowder which was quite good. Be forewarned that the "cup" of soup is larger than most "bowls" of soup served elsewhere. The chowder had big pieces of clam meat and potatoes, in a creamy broth made with bacon drippings and onions. Yum! I had the lunch special shrimp basket which was served with french fries, cole slaw, and hush puppies. The shrimp were large and sweet, and they were dry-breaded as opposed to battered. The outer crust was very light as if they had not been breaded at all, so you got a tiny bit of crispness and seasoning without the burying the taste of the fresh seafood. Simple place, fair prices, and a nice meal. We will go back and try some more. Shrimp & Co's menu: allmenus.com/fl/tampa/29…

After seeing the prices on their website, I went there with some friends for a work lunch in east Ybor. The food was okay but is was expensive for lunch. The big let down with this restaurant was the ambiguity of the menu vs the menu they place online. Their website is NOT up to date as of 1/14/15, and there are even price differences from their "actual menu" to what they will charge you. It didn't help that our food took 40 minutes to get out of the kitchen or that we had to ask for refills the entire time (poor waitress was the only one during lunch rush), but I just was not very impressed with this place.
(2)
Michael B.
The wait staff is friendly. Food-wise, though, you get what you pay for. The oysters on the half shell are half the price of other seafood restaurants, but they are not as fresh and are "gummy." This could be a serious health hazard. Their "home-made" key lime pie was small, over-crusted, and very dry, with whipped cream covering the whole pie.
(3)
Peter L.
Food was good and not too expensive. The waiter, Jose, was also delightful. Said "You're welcome!," everytime i thanked him. :-D

Yum yum yum! My favorite food is shrimp and this is my favorite place to get it. Originally came with a Groupon over a year ago and I continue to come back with others. The sides as well as main dish (I can only speak for all the shrimp they offer) are always fantastic. The dipping sauce is the most delicious thing I have ever dunked my shrimp into. They have their own flavor - the sauce, the shrimp, the cole slaw, hush puppies - all like nothing you have ever had before. I would have to agree that the service is a bit "meh". The young waiters are never happy and always seem lazy, but they get your refills and order right and the chef cooks it perfectly...so whatever. I'll deal. The only downfall is the prices, but perhaps it is how you get the quality. It does keep me coming back after all, just not as often as I would like.

They get one star for having Abita beers, other than that, our experience was awful. The shrimp were over boiled and chewy and the clam strips were all breading. This felt like a bad Long John Silvers experience with beer.

Dropped in for a quick dinner after having driven past many times, noting this is one of few seafood places in Ybor. Good to have easy parking, and no crowd before 6 pm. The place has a sorta-New Orleans/Island fish house atmosphere with well worn furniture and plastic checked table clothes. Menu offers the usual clam, scallop, shrimp, oyster, crawfish and several fin fish fired, broiled or blackened, plus some unexpected touches like mofongo and a tangy side slaw enhanced with popper shrimp. The Gasparilla dessert with deep fried chocolate empanadas with caramel ice cream and chocolate syrup was very delicious. Portions are well cooked and generous, with quick service in light traffic. Prices were a bit high to pay for the Ybor address, just catty-corner form Columbia, where they may well get overflow willing to eat unadorned seafood rather than dramatically presented and seasoned frutas de mare across the street.

The service is extremely slow. Came in on a Monday night. The female waitress was extremely nasty and unpleasant. Mike the male waiter was nice but seemed overwhelmed as a larger crowd came in. The food was ok. Nothing to write home about. However while we were there a big family came in with 5 screaming children. That wasn't the worst part. The worst was when not 1 but 2 of them decided to change their babies DIAPERS on the restaurant table surrounded by eating patrons. No one thought to say "hey take them to the restroom". It was probably the worst experience of my life in a Tampa restaurant. Needless to say I will never ever visit this restaurant again. Also previous reviews was spot on with the sweet tea. It tasted like it was made with toilet water. I had massive stomach issues right after leaving. The reason for the one star is because at least at the end Mike our waiter apologized for the crappy service. So at least he knew the service was less than par. Far LESS!!!

Great place to go with groups for some fresh, no frills seafood. I liked their many seafood options and appreciated all the different preparation options.

The Florida Pink Shrimp was tasty and was the same size as their Gulf Shrimp. I couldn't taste the difference but the wait staff stated that the FL Pink Shrimp is "sweeter". We checked in via Yelp and facility offers a glass of free Sangria; however, they were out but offered a free glass of wine instead. To keep things in prospective, this is an informal, casual dining facility. The food came out pipping hot (yay!) but the 2-person waitstaff was a little slow last night (it wasn't busy); thank goodness we were not in a rush. It's a nice place to visit and try if you are in the Ybor City area. Word to the Wise: Pay attention to where you park in the parking lot on the side of the building. Read the signs posted, especially if you visit during the daytime (core business hours such as Monday-Friday before 5 PM).

I was really hoping for some good seafood tonight, but this place kind of fell flat. I wanted a dozen oysters, but they had only six. I am not sure who shucks them, but they need to learn not to waste the beautiful, briny liquor inside the oyster. What was left was bland and unappetizing. They were also out of clams, evil crab balls, and soup. Whoever does the ordering needs to step it up. On the upside, the wings my husband ordered were pleasantly crispy. The hush puppies were yummy. The shrimp were definitely fresh, but you could see under the breading that they hadn't been cleaned quite well enough. There were remnants of the guts that linger when you remove the shrimp's head. Overall, the food was decent, but... Not really worth a return visit unless you have a real yen for hush puppies.

We are visiting from Atlanta and I would definitely come back to Shrimp & Co! The wait was short, waiter and waitress were friendly and prompt. The food was fresh and tasty. I had the grilled shrimp and the flavors were awesome on the grilled food. Everyone at our table of 5 cleaned their plate! We will hopefully be back on our visit.

Absolutely delicious! Our appetizers were wonderful (crab dip and half a dozen oysters). We both had the Louisiana steampot. The seasoning was amazing! My husband was sopping up the sauce he liked it so much. My two year old actually are the kids meal (chicken strips). The staff were all very sweet with him and our newborn. We will definitely be back.

I reviewed this place on my blog here: shaqworld.com/2013/04/07… I haven't tried anything but the "Chicken Blues" and if you read my blog, you'll find it was less than stellar. I was so disappointed in it, I've just never made it back. However, in this places defense, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. I've had friends tell me the place has good food, so what I'll say is, try it out if you're in the area. And again, don't order what I had!

This is the best restaurant I've been to in the Tampa/ St. Petersburg area so far! It's also the cheapest! Between two of us we shared the lunch shrimp basket and the fish po boy. Both the shrimp and the fish were lightly battered to perfection. They were fresh and flavorful! The spicy slaw that came with both was delicious, and the hush puppies were oniony and some of the best I've ever had! Our waiter told us that they change the oil often and as needed, which I think contributed to how light and flavorful the breading was. The key lime pie we had for dessert was actually more like a cheesecake, and I probably wouldn't order it again. It wasn't bad--just not to my taste. I'll be back!

I had a nice dinner here last night. We are in town for a convention and we took a customer to dinner. We were looking for somewhere that had fresh seafood and was casual. Shrimp & Co. was all of that and more. Our waiter, Jose was friendly, attentive and was very efficient. We orders a few appetizers. I had the raw oysters, everyone else calamari, fired green tomatoes and we even had a special request for the oysters to be steamed which they were able to accommodate us. All of the appetizers were well done. The oysters were fresh and "meaty" definitely well received. I ordered the blackened grouper for my entree with a side salad and red potatoes. The grouper was perfectly grilled and seasoned perfectly, not too hot but very flavorful. There was nothing that I could change. Everyone else had something they enjoyed, scallops, mahi mahi etc.... Shrimp & co was great, we certainly enjoyed our meal. The only thing that I have to say which wasn't a huge deal was their chairs are the standard, cheap wooden back breaking variety. If your there anytime over an hour, your backside will hate you!

I love Shrimp and Company. The food is always good, although the portion sizes have changed on different visits. The reason for not giving 4 stars is because there is one waiter there (left unnamed) that is not very friendly. It's like he's going through the motions. I get that everyone has "off" days, but when you're in a service industry job, at least smile and fake it. The food is always good and we were able to use a halfoffdepot gift certificate for half off our dinner which was nice :)

This place gave me food poisoning within 2 hours of finishing my meal. Still going on 21 hours later. Won't go back ever!

Before I actually tried this place, I used to drive by the building all the time and mock the logo. Aesthetically, it bothered me because the words were not symmetrical on either side of the "shrimp" logo, and I'm kind of an anal-retentive ass like that. Eventually, I got around to trying this place... and all I can say is I'm glad I did. This place has a cool, laid back "Cajun meets Ybor" vibe. It's not the coolest place you'll ever eat in, but it's definitely a place where you feel comfortable hanging out for a while. I have probably been here a dozen times, and every time except one, I've gotten the Florida Pink Shrimp basket or platter. This is the BEST shrimp I've ever had in Tampa, hands down. In fact, the only place I've ever had that is better is Marker 8 in Goodland, FL (look that up if you can find it), and this is virtually as good. The portions are very good for the price, but the price is a bit higher than might be reasonable for what the food actually is... if that makes sense. The only thing keeping me from giving this place 5 stars is a lack of decent alcohol selections. The beer selections are "meh", although they did have Abita Purple Haze for a while. Landshark just doesn't do it for me, and the sangria was just average to me. This is an awesome place to eat if you're planning on hitting the town in Ybor, but be warned that there can be lines on the weekend.

Decent food. Nice location. Pretty good service. The GOOD - nothing was particularly special The SO-SO - the food was OK. We tried the fried gree tomatoes, fried shrimp, and shrimp scampi. The bad - nothing really. Just no compelling reason to go again. Maybe I will, maybe I won't.

place was not as good as I had expected....Food was just ok and nothing spectacular...The service is what bother me the most.... The waiter acted like he did not care one way or the other....Will not go out of my way to go back.

Service was friendly but VERY slow. We had their oysters which were some of the most flavorful I've ever had but on the small side. The soup, fried oysters, and hush puppies were all awesome!

Went in on a Tuesday night and it took forever to get our drinks and even longer to get our order taken. I did receive my free glass of sangria with my Yelp check-in it was decent. The mofongo is o.k. if you order the corn appetizer be warned all it is is 3 tiny cobs of corn.

I'm a Tampa native and I have seen this place for years and always wanted to go. When I saw it on Groupon I immediately thought "Yippee!!" I had high expectations when I ventured to the small restaurant on the corner of 7th and 4th with my parents. It combined my love of 2 things: a hole in the wall and cajun food. The red and white checkered tables and menus that practically fell apart in my hand had me thinking this place is going to be great! Unfortunately, Shrimp & Co. fell really short. The wait staff was friendly but the kitchen staff was really slow. The place wasn't even half full and we waited almost 30 mins for our food. I understand cook-to-order but they need to understand that I'm hungry and provide bread, or in this case corn bread or hush puppies. When our food finally arrived my dad had "fresh" grouper with sweet potato fries and a side salad. My mom and I got the Louisiana Boil. It was a low country boil with crawfish, shrimp and andouille sausage. I LOVE crawfish. They are in season and it was $22 for 2 lbs which seemed a little steep. My dad's grouper and sweet potato fries came out cold. Not cool, cold. We sent the fries back and they dropped them back into the fryer and gave them back. These were the highlight of the meal. The grouper was pretty fishy still had quite a few bones in it. Our Louisiana Boil was down right bad. So bad, in fact, that I left crawfish sitting on the plate. I have been known to skirt busting out of my pants in order to make sure no crawfish was left behind. The crawfish were really fishy. They put a sauce on them that could have been good if the crawfish hadn't been so awful. The shrimp were over-cooked. The one bright point was the sausage were smoky and delicious. I think it's worth mentioning that the majority of the menu is fried. When you walk in the door it smells like fried deliciousness. Unfortunately, deep fried things and I don't get along. If you want to go gorge yourself on fried food, go for it! I can't speak to that side of the business. I might give this place another try because it's been around for a while so it can't be this bad all the time but I don't think it will be any time this year.

Great Food. We were enjoying a night out with our three boys, 13,15, and 1. Everyone left with full tummies, yes even the one year old- he could not get enough of the potatoes. Jose was our server and he did an excellent job taking care of me and my family which isn't easy with a restaurant full of people and only two servers on staff. My boys shared the crab legs and were both full afterwards, which is difficult to do with teenagers. My husband ordered the soft shelled crab meal and I ordered the Florida Steampot. Even though we traded plates I still enjoyed the Steampot. The shrimp were huge, the crab was excellent, and everything else was good. My hubby just so happened to have something I wanted more and the sauce that came with it was delicious. We arrived around 7:40 and found parking easily. We were able to be seated right away which on a Sat night is difficult, and didn't have to wait too long for our food.

Very good sea food and the service was kool. We had an FNG as our waiter but he worked very hard to do a good job. The wife and I had Pink Shrimp with fries and both where good. The prices are very reasonable and parking lot just to the right. We will return I'm sure with prices like these.

Was in the area and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surpised as to the robust flavors that came with my seafood platter. Not all places make good seafood, however this restaurant knows how to prepare good dishes..two thumbs up.

I went here for a friend's birthday with 5 other people and was pleasantly surprised. The decor reminded me of a beach bar with wooden floor/walls and various surf and island memorabilia decorated throughout...definitely a casual place. The birthday boy had a glass of sangria which had a slice of orange and chunks of diced fruit in it...a nice tangy taste so it wasn't too sweet. I had the 1/2 dozen fresh oysters ($6.99?) to start which came on a plate of ice and sides of lemon slices and a small (like the other reviewer posted) side of cocktail sauce. It was my first time having raw oyster and I guess I expected it to have it's own taste but I shucked lemon juice and cocktail sauce covered oysters happily anyways. My buddy had the escargot ($7.99) which was a shallow square plate of escargot in a bath of garlic butter and herbs with 4 pieces of toasted bread on the side. The texture was chewy and the size wasn't too bad either. I had the Shrimp Po Boy which was I think mayo, lettuce, and lightly fried shrimp (it's a good sized portion) with fries, friends had a basket of chicken tenders and fries...which came with their house mix of mayo and ketchup (which was slightly tangy but otherwise reminded me of thousand island) and hush puppies. My friend had the special of spaghetti with spicy marinara and snow crab legs, I didn't taste it so I don't know how it was but I'm sure it was good. Girlfriend had the Triple Deal which is basically your choice of Tilapia, Shrimp, and Scallops prepared grilled, blackened, or Mojo Caribbean (which she got) with 2 sides (she chose sweet potato fries which actually were salty and arinitas which are fried plantains but it tasted just like fried skins). The fish was all juicy and had enough subtle spices on its own.

I was in Tampa visiting a relative for the weekend and wanted to try someplace other than what we gave here in Miami. Came upon this spot in Ybor City. Not a bad spot. Food was well seasoned, wait staff was nice but the service could've been a bit faster. They were having a little birthday celebration for a staff member in the kitchen and I could hear the happy birthday song being sung which could explain the slow service. All in all...not that bad, I'd try it again.

LOVE it! My favorite is their fried FL pink shrimp. It has the perfect batter. Also, their appetizer sampler is pretty amazing. I wish I knew their secret of fried batter. We have also tried their steamed crawfish, which was the best we've had in FL.

I had fried shrimp. I thought it was slightly overcooked. My dinner mates had fried catfish and clam strips. All three thought their food was excellent. The hush puppies were so good and the sweet potato fries were sweet. The waiter was attentive and enjoyed gracing us with trivia about the area and our meals. All of us would return again.

Surprisingly good Key Lime Pie. The shrimp was average. I might consider returning for dessert after eating somewhere else in Ybor City.

This place is awesome!! Best meal I ever had and I am a major foodie. The seafood is fresh and the escargots were amazing!!!! The waiter (Jose) was friendly even we were the last ones out. FIVE stars all the way.

I was surprised at how good this place was. We got a coupon for $25 off so we decided to check it out. We got a pitcher of sangria and then ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They bread and make them fresh when you order them I could definitely taste the difference. Probably the best I've ever had. Dawn ordered the triple play with tilapia, shrimp and scallops broiled in a garlic butter sauce and it tasted amazing! I had a combo meal with fried oysters, shrimp and crawfish and it was out of this world. I paid an extra buck and got the sweet potato fries with mine and am glad I did. They too were the best we've ever had. Also the spicy shrimp coleslaw (which came with mine) is a must have as well. The bill came to $61 plus the tip before our $25 off. Very worth it for as good as it was (and as much as we got). We both left stuffed.

Was in Ybor and wanted to try something new. Never been here before. First thing I noticed was the 2 man "mariachi" band was VERY loud. The waiter said they are trying to get them to lower the music. I decided to be adventurous and try the Shrimp Stuffed Mofongo- (mashed green plaintain with garlic and stuffed with caribbean mojo style shrimp -$15.99 ). I asked the waiter if it was good and he said that it was good and I would really enjoy it. My boyfriend had the Florida Pink Shrimp Platter (12 fried shrimp, 4 hush puppies, coleslaw and french fries -$12.99). We both ordered a glass of sangria. I'll start off with the positive. The sangria was very good. I liked that it had chunks of diced fruit in it. My dish was a moutain of molded, mush with shrimp inside on a bed of chopped romaine lettuce. $15.99 is outrageous for that! My boyfriend's fried shrimp and fries were slightly undercooked. I did like the spicy coleslaw...had mini shrimp in it. All in all not good and most likely will not return except to have a glass of Sangria

Fairly new place at the end of the Ybor strip on the Columbia side. I had heard a few good things about the place and finally dropped in today for lunch with some coworkers. I had an 1/2 lb order of peel and eat shrimp done with Old Bay, along with a dozen raw oysters on the half shell. Both were very good. Oysters tasted fresh and were well shucked. They were only served with a small amount of horseradish and cocktail sauce, no Tabasco or crackers. While some people may not like this, it was fine with me as I typically eat mine naked. The shrimp were the best part... nicely sized and cooked. I would say they would be equivalent to the large shrimp you get at Publix or Sweetbay. One of my coworkers had chicken tenders and fries, really big portion. The other had an order of the grilled shrimp. It was a very small portion (about 6-8 medium sized shrimp) and came with a side of rice. He didn't seem to thrilled with his order. I will definitely be going back, their oysters are reasonably priced at $10 per dozen and they have a few other seafood items that I'd like to try.

Took my son here for dinner. Had a house salad with grilled shrimp and bacon vinegarette (on the side) which was very good. Shrimp were good size and seasoned well. Portion not big but not expensive either. My son had the fish fillet kids meal and gave it a thumbs up. He subbed their spicy shrimp slaw for the hush puppies and liked it. Didn't get the free sangria because I'm driving . James our waiter was great.

Dined during an off "lunch" hour and the service was great; the food was great as well, the fried items were fried well and very tasty. The grilled items were nice and moist (not at all dry!).

After checking out the reviews here on Yelp and Urban Spoon, I bought a Living Social voucher for this place. We were down in Tampa for the day from Orlando to visit Busch Gardens and were ready to fill ourselves with seafood dinner. The food was okay and the service was okay, but nothing really memorable about the whole dining experience. We probably won't be back.

First time at Shrimp & Co, and very disappointing. My wife ordered the lobster and I ordered the filet mignon. "Sorry! We're all out of filet mignon!" Ok, how about the New York strip steak? "Sorry! Out of that too!". I ended up with the grilled grouper. Not bad, but not that great either for $17. When my wife tried to eat her lobster, it reeked with an ammonia smell, apparently a sign that it hand't been frozen fast enough after being harvested. It was replaced with an ok shrimp poboy. Was nice to try, but wouldn't eat at again.

Great food. Price is right and food was excellent. I got a coupon for $25 off and I felt like I cheated them. The appearance from the outside is definetly deceiving so don't let that deter you. The atmosphere inside is much more appealing but ultimatly the price and the food sold me for a future return.

I have dined there many times because I am a lover of shrimp. Tonight my husband wanted to go because it was his birthday. I ordered the Mix and Match combo fish and shrimp($15.99)and he ordered Mia Pasta($13.99). When I received my meal the fish had a strong fishy smell and I did not enjoy, so I requested to have more shrimp instead. After 5 minutes the manager came over to ask if I would like a different fish because they did not have anymore shrimp thawed. I was a little surprised because after all we were at Shrimp & Company, with no shrimp. I really was upset because I had waited all day to dine there and was disappointed. The manager charged half price($8.00) for my meal with consist of 5 shrimp, overcooked hush puppies and cole slaw. I was disappointed and still hungry. No good to run out of shrimp when your business is shrimp!!

Good seafood selection. Not too packed, so contrary to other reviews, our food came bout quickly and hot, fresh and nicely presented! Fish was fresh, shrimp lo boy was HUGE, and our server Bryan was attentive and helpful. I Would come back again!

I told myself I would eventually eat there, My only reason for wanting to, was I liked seafood. On the other hand I had no idea of what to expect. I'll say this much...it took me by surprise. Very humble looking place, with what i call great fresh Florida seafood & more.We started out with the spicy crawfish with a homemade ranch type dip, had wonderful flavors from both really big portion too. I was really surprised how many pieces came for the price. If this were a Chinese buffet it would have taken 2 hours of picking to get that many tail pieces. For dinner I had the Blue chicken. Its a boneless, skinless chicken breast stuffed with fresh medium gulf shrimp, some sort of cheese, white wine, and garlic sauce none of those cheap bread crumbs in this stuffing that you normally gets from other resturants and than topped with two thick cut bacon strips, more shrimp, and more of that delicious sauce. Decent amount of calories, but almost no carbs, so a nice way to go if your on a diet. The flavors were amazing, and really was the best stuffed chicken I've ever had. My lady friend had the fried soft shelled crabs with roasted, herb and oil tossed red potatoes and sweet pan fried plantains. Crab was cooked perfect potatoes were wonderful, and the plantains were sweet with a nice crispy outside and warm sweet center. Her only complaint was she got excited and ate too many crawfish, and left herself with little room for dinner. All in all a wonderful place that I'd always recommend and can't wait to return to

Best fish I've found so far in Tampa! I've been here like 10 times now and I'm addicted. The place is family run and owned and it shows in the flavors. Everything is so good - I'm a big fan of their Gumbo and the Grouper Sandwich. The steam pot the other night was lick your fingers delicious! I hope they stick around a very, very long time! The price is so reasonable for fish!

Went with my boyfriend. The place is small, about 12 tables. There was 1 or 2 tables already full, and right after we sat down about 3 or 4 more tables came in. There was only one waiter, who was nice, but not too experienced. He took all the tables orders about the same time, (we were the first), but that's not how the food came out. It took about 30 minutes for two entrees. Again only 5-6 tables full, but that is about half of the restaurant. My bf ordered the crab basket and I ordered the pick 4 combo of shrimp, scallops, and mahi mahi (I got double shrimp). We thought we'd have alot of leftovers from my pick 4 dish, but when it came, it wasn't that much food (for a pick 4). I only got 3 scallops and they were NOT big!!! My bf order potatoes for a side, but got fries. I ordered sweet potato fries, but got regular ones. They played Beatles music, and it took so long to get our food that we got all the way to the playlist and the same songs started to play again. The food was okay, but for a total bill of $45 (no alcohol, includes tip), it wasn't that good. I'd much rather go to Red Lobster and save some money.

This place has the best seafood in the city. Cannot recommend the Florida pot with the Louisiana sauce enough, level 5 on the hotness. It will put you on your knees. Been here 4 times, every time it has been outstanding. Louisiana pot is awesome if you like cajun crawfish.

This place could use a facelift, but the food inside is good. I'm a sucker for hush puppies, and they're delicious here. The Florida basket is a good deal.

(4)Sabrina W.
(3)Mark P.

(3)Deepan M.
(5)Pranam P.
(4)Bohemian J.

The staff was friendly and attentive while giving us time to socialize and not being overly present. The food was very good. Enjoyed my dining experience.

Cozy little seafood joint located on the edge of ybor. Shrimp po boy and fries was good, maybe a little too much sauce but it hit the spot.

Great local feeling . Entertaining wait staff. Good food . Reasonable prices. Crawfish good n spicy! Family enjoyed the casual atmosphere.

(5)Vanessa B.
This was a pleasant surprise. Had no expectations but a great place. Had the pink shrimp we also had the grouper both tasty.
(4)Kevin E.
First time their and the food and service was great!!!! Will definitely return! Shrimp PoBoy very good!!!
(4)Travis M.

(3)Myah W.
The food is outstanding for a small little place. I love seafood and this was good everything tasted fresh. I had the mix and match combo platter with shrimp and oysters. Must try this place!!

(3)Joseph C.
This is a great restaurant. The shrimp was excellent and this will be a regular place to eat for us in the future.
(5)Queen A.
The seafood at this place in ybor city is the best and the pricing is great! Good food good value for the money.
(5)Phillipa L.
(5)Brooke K.
(2)Abby P.

I will keep this simple: No one fries seafood better than this place!
(5)Jessica M.

Enjoy!
(5)Jinelies U.
The food is great and the waiter was very attentive. Small and quaint. Affordable prices we are very likely to dine there again when in town.
(5)Doug D.
(4)Chris C.
(4)Natalie B.
(3)Jason S.
Used to come here about once a week for lunch. They recently got rid of the lunch menu, so they lost me as a customer. So-so food, but way overpriced for what you get. Will be going to Shells on Dale Mabry from now on.
(2)D S.
Had the mix & match combo shrimp n mahi mahi....DELICIOUS!!!! And deep fried cheesecake ...tha BOMB!! Cozy little place in Ybor City with adequate seating and views of outside. A definitely recommend.
(4)Austin M.
(5)Elana L.
(4)Randi H.
Good fried seafood. A little pricey. Fried shrimp and fried oysters, you can order a basket or a po boy. Everything is pretty tasty however I feel it's a bit expensive. You leave smelling like a fried basket of grease.
(3)Mike S.
I would def. come back!!
(4)Suki N.
(1)Douglas N.
Craving Louisiana style seafood? This establishment turns out some amazing food. It's right in Ybor City too!!
(4)Ricardo P.
Excelent food... Place is not fancy, service was really friendly and familiar, enough parking in the back. Fresh seafood with real sea flavor.
(5)Thuy L.
(2)S R.
(4)Evangeline T.
We enjoyed the fried crawfish & oyster platter, boiled crawfish, kids shrimp basket, kids chicken basket! The server seemed preoccupied.
(4)Andrew Z.
(4)Steve E.
(4)Ana Victoria M.
I stopped by on a Friday night. I had the salmon with Caribbean Mojo. It was so good! The staff is very friendly. Looking forward to go back and try their Shrimp Po' Boys.
(4)Jacob K.
(2)Michael B.
(3)Peter L.
Food was good and not too expensive. The waiter, Jose, was also delightful. Said "You're welcome!," everytime i thanked him. :-D
(4)Barbara S.
(4)Catherine D.
They get one star for having Abita beers, other than that, our experience was awful. The shrimp were over boiled and chewy and the clam strips were all breading. This felt like a bad Long John Silvers experience with beer.
(1)Mike S.
(3)Leori P.
Far LESS!!!
(1)Jason C.
Great place to go with groups for some fresh, no frills seafood. I liked their many seafood options and appreciated all the different preparation options.
(4)Bonita B.

(2)Bonnie B.
(4)Jessalyn H.
(5)Patt S.
Must try this seafood restaurant!!! Everything is very fresh & tasty. Sweet potato fried is the best ever!!!!
(5)Mike O.
Awesome food, quick service and friendly staff.
(5)Shaquea B.
(2)Julia M.
(4)Mike C.
(4)Ashley B.
Not my favorite place. Food is okay nothing special. Price is good. It's located right off 4th street and can get a little noisy outside, outside patio is a little cramped. Slow service.
(3)Steve P.
Small place, big flavor and friendly. We will go back to try more things. Columbia restaurant too busy, walk across the street for good chow without the pomp. Loved it.
(5)Noelle L.
(3)Jose C.
The hush puppies were oniony and delicious. Nice laid back place for lunch... Will definitely return with friends for beers and shrimps...
(4)Abi J.
yummy
(5)Ron D.
The Crayfish meat is deep fried like popcorn shrimp. The coleslaw is fantastic. The staff is excellent. Parking can be an issue before 5pm
(4)David H.
This place gave me food poisoning within 2 hours of finishing my meal. Still going on 21 hours later. Won't go back ever!
(1)Matthew M.
(4)Gerard B.
(2)henry b.
place was not as good as I had expected....Food was just ok and nothing spectacular...The service is what bother me the most.... The waiter acted like he did not care one way or the other....Will not go out of my way to go back.
(2)Nicole S.
Service was friendly but VERY slow. We had their oysters which were some of the most flavorful I've ever had but on the small side. The soup, fried oysters, and hush puppies were all awesome!
(4)Robby M.
Went in on a Tuesday night and it took forever to get our drinks and even longer to get our order taken. I did receive my free glass of sangria with my Yelp check-in it was decent. The mofongo is o.k. if you order the corn appetizer be warned all it is is 3 tiny cobs of corn.
(3)Cari E.
(1)Sara D.
(4)K C.
Very good sea food and the service was kool. We had an FNG as our waiter but he worked very hard to do a good job. The wife and I had Pink Shrimp with fries and both where good. The prices are very reasonable and parking lot just to the right. We will return I'm sure with prices like these.
(4)David S.
Was in the area and decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surpised as to the robust flavors that came with my seafood platter. Not all places make good seafood, however this restaurant knows how to prepare good dishes..two thumbs up.
(4)Raymond Z.

(3)Megan W.
LOVE it! My favorite is their fried FL pink shrimp. It has the perfect batter. Also, their appetizer sampler is pretty amazing. I wish I knew their secret of fried batter. We have also tried their steamed crawfish, which was the best we've had in FL.
(5)Alissa M.
(4)Alan L.
Surprisingly good Key Lime Pie. The shrimp was average. I might consider returning for dessert after eating somewhere else in Ybor City.
(2)Andrew S.
This place is awesome!! Best meal I ever had and I am a major foodie. The seafood is fresh and the escargots were amazing!!!! The waiter (Jose) was friendly even we were the last ones out. FIVE stars all the way.
(5)Rick H.
(5)Diana L.
(2)Matt S.

I've eaten here for dinner a few times. The food is always good and it's consistent. The staff is very friendly.

Great atmosphere and delicious seafood. The staff and our waiter were fun to deal with and made the meal a memorable experience. This is definetly a gem of Ybor City and we will most certainly be back again.

Great Fresh seafood. Cozy atmosphere. I love it. Some one said it's closed. But it's not correct. Best shrimp in town.
