We have now been to this incredible local gem two times and both experiences were excellent. The service staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, preparation and ingredients. I was also most grateful that most of the menu is both vegetarian / pescatarian friendly! So many dishes can be made to accomodate both of these choices. For all carnivores the pork-belly dish with the cornbread, pepper honey and pickled apples is an amazing combination- it is almost as good as the gnocchi w/ short ribs! One of my favorite 'crudos' (cold and raw seafood) was the scallop crudo with smoked avocado- incredible creamy flavors and combination of fresh vegetables, herbs and amazing texture and flavors. The pole bean dish is also not to be missed-fresh flavorful and a real delicious vegetable. All dishes have unique flavor combinations but are not fussy. There wine list is a nice mix of introductory to medium priced and quality wines. If you want to bring your own super-bottle in you can for a modest corkage fee. Don't get hung up on the traditional app/salad/entree/dessert routine- order lots, sample, share and stroll through a most relaxing and delicious evening. We will be back with more friends!

Neat little place.... Excellent dishes. Enjoyed the dirty Farro, wahoo krudo, and black drum. All were delicious and the black drum may be one of the best seafood dishes to be had in the area. The entire staff was friendly and helpful... Great beer and wine offerings. We'll be back!

Just wow! What an unexpected delicious surprise. By far, this is the best meal out I've had in quite some time with equally awesome service. Love the fact that nearly everything on the menu can be made vegetarian friendly and still taste amazing. This is definitely going to be a repeat again and again.

This is the second time I've dined here. From the cheese slate to the pasta, the fish and the mushrooms. I've had most of the menu (which changes) and never had a bad dish. The chef is super friendly and so is the staff. You must eat here! Everything is fresh and thoughtful. Highly recommend.

Server attentiveness, knowledge, attitude; atmosphere; sommelier's knowledge; and food quality, flavor, unique combinations - all outstanding!

The best dinning experience I think I've ever had. We ordered the chefs tasting and our friends ordered the entire menu. I enjoyed tasting rabbit and goat for the first time. The chefs are accessible for questions and conversation. Great wine selection. I can't wait to return!

Update from previous review (4 stars). They recently updated their menu and its even better than before. Wife and I really love this restaurant and it's quickly becoming one of the best in the city. Yes, portion sizes are small, but the entrees are $16-18 which i think is very reasonable. At our second visit we had -COAL GRILLED TOAST, BACON, MUSHROOMS, BLEU D'AUVERGNE, ROAST MARROW EMULSION -HOUSE PASTA, BROCCOLI LEAVES, CONFIT TOMATOES, CHILI FLAKE, UNI BUTTER, BOTTARGA -DIRTY FARRO, CHICKEN LIVER, PORK JOWL, COLLARD GREENS All were great, we're looking forward to going back again soon. Another note, theyre also now offering a 5 course tasting menu, which is, I believe, $65.

Okay so here's the deal.. Small chef run restaurant that caters to a foodie clientele. For what it is its great. I had 3 dishes and was perfectly full and not at all opposed to the price they were charging. Very good wine selection and service as well. Thanks for coming to my neighborhood.

The food they are creating at this restaurant is astounding. I wish I could express this as vividly as is deserved, but my words would not do it justice. If you are passionate about food, you must eat here - there are few establishments that can compare to the quality and creativity that you will find. Dine at this restaurant and you will thank yourself for doing so - I know I did.

Thank you, miles, for a great dinner service. He answered every question without hesitation and with perfect accuracy. The food was tapas style, which is my wife's favorite. The pork belly and cornbread made me weep with happiness. Try it. Worth it.

Left Hungrier than we arrived...I like the idea of locally available/sustainable but the portions were laughable....We went to independent after to eat bc we were starving

This is great local dining and a real gem in the neighborhood. The food was delicious and creative. We will definitely make this one of our "usual haunts."

Food: Delicious- had tasting platter, pasta, and smoked mushrooms. Flavors were better than average and had a homespun charm, but were not innovative enough to warrant a browser's portion at a glutton's price. Service: Charming young ladies doing the best they can with what they have, a little jammed at the front door, no real way to sequence things. More casual than a cafeteria on this front, warm, seemingly sincere interactions, but little else to fill in the time between arrival, seating, ordering, and waiting. Atmosphere: Lively, but not really designed. A couple cool Pinterest moves and some restraint with color, but had an amateur feel. Prices were high enough to expect a more thoughtful environment. Overall: Good cooking, small portions, high prices, and so-so space.

You might want to eat dinner before you go. The portions are ridiculously small. The food is good but we seriously laughed out loud when our food was served. Afterwards we went to another local establishment and ordered more food because we were still pretty hungry. The prices were just too high for how small the plates were. The decor was pretty awesome. But they also only have 4 tables inside, so most people were sitting at the bar.

So after reading all the reviews, we had to try it and was sadly dissappointed. The service was exceptional but the food is very mediocre. We had started with the meat & cheese. The meat was very fatty and it was the only meat that came w/the platter. I ordered the rabbit entree and although it was good, it was not worth anything to write home about. The portions are very small and after paying $180 for two people, it was definitely not worth the price or making rhe hike to Seminole Heights.

The food here is great. There's just not enough of it for the price. We went to Rooster and the Till for my birthday and were looking forward to a great and satisfying meal. We we both had two appetizers and an entree. Upon leaving, we went to get dinner...at another restaurant. I hate to give an okay rating when the food, service, and plating were generally superb but I just don't see us going here again unless the portions or prices change.

Came here for a birthday dinner. We had the honor of sitting with Executive Chef Ferrell. He made us a special birthday tasting menu with wine pairing. We ordered extra desert because we didn't want the experience to end. The deserts were on the house. SideBerns has always been our number one place and now thanks to Joe our waiter and Chef Ferrell, Rooster in the Till is number one for Tampa Bay! We are excited for our next dinner experience here. This is a true gem in not only Seminole Heights but all of the Tampa Bay Area!

Very well executed menu with a laid back environment. Here, you can eat upscale food without the stuffy atmosphere that usually accompanies it.

If considering spending in the range of fine dining then go to a fine dining restaurant. No matter how many plates consumed here they will not equal a pound of Meyers beef or a nice Black Grouper dinner. Just my 2 cents worth.

Cute place! Amazing dinner and service. The Kitchen Sink was perfect for four people, and we all left full and very happy. The wine suggestions were perfect as well. What a joy to see and taste such passion in cooking!

This was hands down one of the best dining experiences I can remember. My husband and I slipped in for an early dinner, not planning to have much, we just wanted to try them out before they got busy on a Saturday night, but the menu was so original and creative that we were enticed into a full meal, from the cheese and charcuterie plate, through two entrees, beers, dessert, and coffee, and I regret nothing! The beer selection was solid, featuring a good mix of local and craft brews. The cheese and beer plate featured in-house charcuteries, including a chicken pate that I loved, even though liver is normally not my thing. The meats and cheeses were paired with house made (sense a theme here?) jams and chutneys that were excellent and unexpected (coffee apple butter-amazing). I had the duck breast with charred carrot and spicy lentils, my husband had the rabbit ballotine stuffed with chicken liver and raisins on polenta with kale. Both were phenomenal, crispy skinned and juicy. We wrapped up our meal by trying both the flourless chocolate bar and the Oh-my-god-good kumquat and gooseberry compote with (housemade) granola and hazelnut cream with two pour-over coffees (local, Buddy Brew). And on top of the excellent food, it was a great experience. The restaurant has an open kitchen, and we sat at the counter. Because we caught them before the crowds came in, we had the opportunity to watch our food come together and talk to the chefs and waitstaff. Their passion for food, quality, and the neighborhood came through. We could tell that we were eating labors of love, and it was a pleasure to get to know the people behind it. Seminole Heights already enjoys some of Tampa's best dining, but this place will stand out even among such great company. The closest I can come to regretting anything is that they had more appealing options than I had room in my stomach. I can't wait to go back and try putting together a dinner from their small plate options. And here's a tip, they have something a lot of other places around here don't: Parking! They don't have the signs up yet, but the neat freshly paved parking lot on the north side of Diana St. is theirs.

Rooster and the Till is my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere is great and the food is consistently beautiful and delicious. I have tried many things on the menu, but my favorites are the Brussels sprouts and the Gnocchi. They usually offer two desserts, and I order both and share. They have wine starting at $5 a glass, and $25 a bottle. The best seat in the restaurant is at the bar where you can watch the food prepared and plated.

We discovered this place by Yelp giving it a great rating. They certainly got it right. We had the scallops crudo, which was perfect, and several other small plates. The rabbit dish was spectacular. My wife had the flan desert which had several elements on it, and i presume it was great because she would not share it. Service was great, we will be back.

Rooster and the Till's chef is clearly the most creative in all of Tampa now. The food is outstanding and presentation is superb. I have been 4 times and have been more impressed each time. Support the restaurant it desires it.

Some of the best food I have eaten in Florida. Comments about the portion sizes being a bit small are fair game, but flavor is the reason you eat at Rooster & the Till, and that is something other restaurants don't currently offer at this level. The pork belly and mushrooms in particular are worth the 30 minute wait, complimented nicely by a $5 glass of Foxglove Cabernet, one of the better valued Cabernet's I've enjoyed. This is the kind of place you go for culinary inspiration. The presence of this restaurant is evidence that Tampa (and Seminole Heights in particular) has become a surprising mecca of culinary creativity. Thank You to the owners for bringing excellent flavors to the city, we will come back for seconds.

I thought I had reviewed this a while ago and I suppose I never noticed it hadn't gone through. Anyway, this place is fantastic! I was new to town and wanted to try some of the top spots and so I took myself on a date to Rooster. I sat at the bar and got to watch them make all of the food. The head chef took time out of his busy night (on a week day it was packed) to talk to me about their mission and all of the food they had on the menu. It is typically a place you would like to go with another person so you can try lots of different things, but that didn't stop me from experimenting on my own. Everything I ordered was unique and absolutely delicious. My favorite were the featured oysters that were on the board. The chef was even so awesome as to write down some of his favorite places for me to check out in my exploring! The server was also super friendly and it definitely didn't feel like a "locals only" kind of spot. They are passionate and talented there, and I highly recommend it!

What a masterpiece of a meal! I'm literally in awe of the flavors I experienced last night. Rooster and the till is a sister restaurant of The Refinery, and similar in the way that the menu changes often, and ingredients are sourced locally when possible. Going in, we were prepared to spend a pretty penny knowing portions are on the small side, and quite frankly - we wanted to try quite a bit of their offerings. I think I'll just do a breakdown of each dish. Cheese slate- I knew we were in for a real treat after devouring this. The blue cheese was my favorite, along with a goat milk cheese that was buttery and on the mild side. Clams and oysters from raw menu- yum!! Two different oyster types, one being smokey and one with a melon finish. Both delicious and so were the clams. Tuna crudo from raw menu- raw tuna on a yummy Thai salad. so good! Gnocchi from small plates- gnocchi with short rib and ricotta. The couple next to us told us it would be their choice for a "last meal" if on death row. Um yeah...i concur! The gnocchi literally melted in your mouth and paired wonderfully with the tender short rib and ricotta cheese. Foie gras from small plates- I don't like foie gras, but boyfriend gives it an A+ Pork cheeks from small plates- still good but not my favorite. The meat was a little gamey. Ribeye from larger plates- amazing! Cooked a perfect medium rare, and I loved the potato cakes. Pistachio cake from dessert- this was my favorite part of the meal. Pistachio cake, candied beet granola, lemon curd, lavender honey, and olive oil gelato. OH MY. sounds strange, but the perfect combo of flavors. Just heavenly. 2nd dessert- cinnamon toast crunch ice cream, chocolate cake crumble, bananas brulee. Our waiter called this the "stoners delight", lol. Makes sense, though...incredible!! This is the type of place that has you daydreaming about their dishes. I seriously cannot wait to come back. Rooster and the till is without a doubt, one of the best restaurants in tampa bay.

This is my second visit to Rooster & the Till and my first review. I wanted SO BADLY to give this place 5 stars, but 4 it is...read below and you will see why. Our reservation was for 4 folks at 7:30. We arrived at 7 to have a few drinks before dinner...well our guests would have a few drinks, we hardly engage in the "sauce". That said, we were actually led to our table about 5 minutes after we arrived. SWEET. We noticed when we arrived that the temperature in the building was a little on the warm side, but hoped that it would get a bit cooler once we were seated. Let me also say this- the staff are exceptional in every way and you can tell from the get go that they are there to please. Pia was our server and she was FANTASTIC. Thorough, sweet, attentive...everything that makes a great server. Because Rooster is a special experience, the servers take the time to explain everything so as to make sure that your experience is the best. I was the only one in the group of 4 that had been to the restaurant so I was considered and "expert"- HA! Two of our guests had a glass of wine and I had the pear cider which was delicious...I wanted to call attention to Pia again. When she arrived at the table with my cider and a glass of ice she says this "The manufacturers of the cider recommend that it be served over ice- would this be acceptable to you?" I loved how that much attention is paid to the experience. On to the FOOOOOOD- We started with the Charcuterie and cheese plate...it arrives with 3 or 4 cheeses, a chicken liver pate', some olives and several relishes as well as an amazing cobia- salami. Yes, I said cobia salami (which by the way is to die for). The plate is well proportioned though we had to ask for additional bread, it serves 4 people comfortably. Though I am not a fan of liver anything, everything else on the platter was simply delightful! On a side note, the warmth of the restaurant was not subsiding and many many times throughout the meal, each of us commented on how slightly uncomfortable the restaurant was becoming. Rooster & the Till is kind of a tapas place, ok it is tapas...kind of. You have a choice of small and larger plates. We chose the following- The Gnocchi with short ribs, the Crispy Cobia, the Pork Cheek, and two orders of the Ribeye dish. Our favorites are in this order- Gnocchi and Ribeye tied for first place, Crispy Cobia 2nd place and Pork cheek third. The Gnocchi dish was delightful- flavorful and actually a great portion for 4 people to get a couple of hefty spoonfuls. The spicy peperonata really added an extra zing to the dish. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection and so delicious that we ordered another dish during the meal. The meat was cooked to perfection at a Medium temp and the accompanying cauliflower and potato cake was so yummy. The Crispy Cobia was ok. According to the server it was like eating a chicken wing only fish- well not so much, but the flavors were nice just not everyone at the table interested in using their fingers to eat. The pork cheek was probably the least favorite but it was still a good dish. The pork is not very flavorful but it is cooked to perfection as well and literally falls apart. I want to go back to the temp in the room again at this point, because as we were eating we were perspiring. Perspiring while you are eating is not pleasant and we experienced a similar situation at Chop Chop Shop. We brought this to the server's attention and she went into a long explanation about the duct work and the vents...suffice it to say that this is why the 4 stars. FIX THE A/C PLEASE!!!! No one likes to sweat while they are eating $140.00 worth of food. Ok...off the soap box. We opted not to have desert, because we were stuffed. LOVE THIS PLACE LOVE THIS PLACE LOVE THIS PLACE- just fix the A/C please??? OH- and make sure you make reservations, because this place fills up fast!

Yes, very small plates. Raw lamb, oysters, local yum. Give your dough local. Rooster & the Till is an experience. It's tiny plates for a big price and a unique (if not overly salty) flavor. I love that they're super local and trying to be sustainable, but man, I want more food please. The waitstaff even seemed apologetic about the prices/portions... If you're going to go, you're going to go all out, and it's going to be expensive. Know this before you make a mistake and go here thinking you can get out with a full tummys for under $20. You cannot. If you only order one thing and a drink, you'll just leave tipsy and hangry. Is this place overly hyped? Maybe. I've had better meals for cheaper and with leftovers. The bites really made it feel like such a tease, and I don't want to be teased while I eat. I want to eat! I don't want my food to taunt me, I want it to soothe and satiate me. I want it to serve me. I want to savor every bite, and I would like more than one or two. The ambiance is very yuppie and very loud. The tone of the restaurant is a bit incongruent. If someone just walked in off the street, they'd think they entered a regular bar with regular bar food and prices--they would be wrong. Such a swanky place should have a quieter swanky attitude, to say to the non-reserved customer, "This is not the place you were looking for, but you'll want to come back for a special hot date night, that is, once you save enough from your millennial DINK." The noise was kind of lonesome and oppressive. The waiter told us that they serve "family style," and I think of two things when I think "family style". 1) Big portions. And 2) Sharing. Only the second part is true. If you're more than one person, it's really more like a shared tasting menu than "family style". Family implies pounds of meat, cheese, and dessert. So, it might be better to change the language on that. Now the food: If I was ever to return here it would be for the raw bar and drinks before a real (cheaper and bigger) meal somewhere else. Those professional slurpers: Take note. We ordered the locals clams, which I loved with the pickle relish on top. But my buddy was not impressed, and I agree with his critique--too much pickle. I love raw shellfish fresh, with nothing else. Let me add my own topper (if I so choose). Let the bivalve speak for itself! Lamb crudo was awesome, well-portioned, and priced. A lot going on, but good. Cheese and charcuterie plates were good, but underwhelming. First time there--go for it, but I doubt you'll do it a second time. Gnocchi--really delicious. I think I even got 4-5 bites out of it sharing between 4 people. Pork jowl is not to be missed. Delicious salty porky fatty goodness. Probably my favorite of the "larger" plates. Oxtail pierogi. I liked the idea, but was just ok in the end. Dessert is kind of like the cheese/meat plates. Do it the first time, but go somewhere else afterwards the second tim. We got half a cup worth of coconut ice cream yogurt fruit thing that I'm pretty sure I could make, and a cake thing that was so tiny is was upsetting. The cake was super delicious, and I wanted it to be 8 times as big. Chef--I know you have larger portion recipes for all this stuff. Give the people want they want. All and all, 4 people, all the courses and drinks came to $200. Not stuffed, a little frustrating, but delicious. I'm really excited to see how this restaurant evolves. So, if you're ok with the caveats, and want to experience a different kind of cuisine style in Tampa, do it here. And at least you know you're money is going to a self-aware super locally committed food endeavor. That's enough for me to empty my wallet (and open my mouth).

The only way this place gets better is if they were open on Sundays as well. This is quite probably the best restaurant in Tampa, and for the creativity on the menu, the price is downright cheap. Keep in mind that plates here are meant to be shared. Don't go here with someone who is going to be turned off by that; go here with people that are passionate about food and drinks. This is one of the few places that also gets their drink list right with good local beers and decent wines at varying price points. Dessert here is also a treat and is always different. The new expansion was well done and it makes it more likely you can just walk in and grab a seat at the bar... but plan ahead and book a reservation whenever possible.

An absolute delight! From the minute we sat down, the wait staff was attentive and much detailed was paid to heighten the experiences. From beer and wine suggestions with samples, to explaining each item we order in detail, we felt like we were a judge on Top Chef. The thought process and care put into each dish is apparent and much appreciated. We ordered the happy hour kitchen sink; so much food for $32!! Cheese plate with 3 cheeses, 2 accompaniments and bread, charcuterie plate with same about and 3 speciality dishes. Everything we ate was cooked to perfection, seasoned perfectly and plated with care. Dessert was phenomenal and perfect way to end the meal. Truly a dining experience I can't wait to experience again. We do a lot of happy hours and this is now on top of my list. Shout out to the head chef, you know how to run a fantastic restaurant!

I went to Rooster and The Till in February and IMMEDIATELY deemed it my favorite restaurant in Tampa (I've lived here 25 years and try to explore new restaurants all the time), and probably my top 3 dining experiences ever. We made a reservation to sit at the "bar" - I was bummed because I expected it to be a typical restaurant bar. Boy was I wrong. The bar is actually a food bar where all the prep and cooking happens. We lucked out, and the owner was cooking right in front of us all night. We didn't know what to order because everything looked amazing. So, we asked the chef what to eat and I am so glad we did. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, pork belly, ricotta , and gnocchi. Hands down, the BEST GNOCCHI I've ever had (and I studied in Italy for 2 months and had my fair share) . We're going again soon to check out the renovations/expansion and can't wait to get some more R+T in my belly.

This place isn't in the best part of town and I was starting to second guess my choice as I was getting closer to the restaurant. As soon as I opened the door I knew that this place was gonna be great, awesome ambiance. We started off with oysters and clams for apps and the vinaigrette really put the flavor on a different level. The gnocchi with short ribs is amazing. Imagine little pillows of fluff and flavor almost dissolving slowly in the mouth cause someone put a lot of love into this food. Everything we had here was hands down the best food I've had in Tampa. Everyone working here as well made our experience that much better cause it looks like they love what they do.

Farm to table restaurant offering delicious eats like beef tongue, chicken liver, pork cheeks, and grouper cheek tonnato. The menu changes frequently based on what's available and it's great to see so many different cuts used in such deliciously creative ways. The charcuterie board included chicken liver pate, candied walnut crumble, zucchini butter, goat sausage, some type of tasty gelee, an apricot compote, cheddar, a delicious bleu and an amazing honeycomb. The pairings of meats, cheeses, and fruity, nutty accents were perfect flavor combinations. The gnocchi small plate with short ribs was amazing. Tender, short rib meat with stewed San Marzanos and dollops of smoked ricotta. The gnocchi wasn't made from the heavy semolina or potato flour but instead a wheat-free pastry flour which makes them somewhat melt in your mouth. Our server called them "pillows of heaven." This "pillow" of delicious flavor combined with bites of tender, salty beef with smoky ricotta and a juicy, sweet stewed San Marzano... bam! Delicious! Romantically rustic and charming ambiance. Excellent service. Delicious, unique and locally sourced eats. Great spot for a dinner date or even to stop in just for an amazing dessert. Dee-lish!

I almost did not go this weekend for fear that it was out of budget. Hubby and I had a surprise (free) sitter and thought we might try one of the many new spots that have been popping up here. I love spots like this (reminded me a lot of barley swine in AUS) but if you want to try everything, it can get pricy. Anyway, we had a late lunch and figured we would get a cheeseboard ($13-17/can't remember) and 4 dishes to try (all between $9-14). Then we went cray and tacked dessert on top not was PLENTY of food. We left full for sure. Here is what we had: Gnocchi, short ribs, smoked ricotta, San Marzanos pickled peperonata - this was one of the best dishes. The gnocchi was outrageous, meat perfectly tender and great vinegary crunchy tangy peppers on too. To die for. Pig cheek, broccoli stem cheddar casserole, picked mustard seed gremolata - this was super good and came out last. We left a little in the bowl because we were getting so full. I felt guilty doing that! Roast squash, brown butter molasses, smoked almonds, cinnamon marshmallows - of all the dishes this one seemed the simplest but has so many flavors and textures. Every tiny detail was perfect. Loved it! Roasted broccoli, puffed farro, confit garlic, cured egg yolk, charred bread vinegerette - my favorite dish. This was crunchy, vinegary - perfect. I wanted to order another one! Dessert was a strawberry cake with olive oil IceCream and some other goodies. I barely heard what she said at that point as I was in food La La land. Speaking of service it was impeccable. Very patient - staff worked as a team. Hubby isn't always comfortable in settings where burgers are NOT available on the menu and he loved it here. Very un-fussy and relaxed spot. All in all, with tip we came in under $150. For two people at a place like this - a fair deal really. I would imagine they swap out dishes pretty often. Really looking forward to coming back!

As I entered the R&t I noticed incredibly trendy surroundings. This place is gorgeous, seriously if your going for a drink this is the place to go. It feels like another world. Now onto what matters, service, cost, and of course FOOD. Service A+ except for the hostesses, for a place that small get rid of them and get an extra table instead. Cost: Here's where it gets uglyish, way too expensive for what you get.

Our new favorite restaurant in Tampa. Rooster & the Till did not disappoint! The best farm to table restaurant. I hear they are expanding into the space next door, which I'm sure many are happy about given how hard it is to get a reservation. It's fine dining quality food and service in a casual setting. There is so much thought put into our dining experience by the staff, chef, and owners. You can't help but notice how much detail went into making it a memorable meal for their diners. We sampled so many items and by sample I mean, ordered the small plates, which were not small by any means. Previous reviews had us expecting tapas-sized portions, but their small plates are very generous portions. There was not a dish we were not wowed by. Every ingredient, every bite was a medley of flavors to savor and enjoy. If I had to pick my favorite, it would have to be the gnocchi, because I'm not a fan of gnocchi and this was the best gnocchi I ever had. It is made with pasty flour, not potato, so it was light and not starchy. I highly recommend those who don't like gnocchi to give this a try. Those who love gnocchi, may not look at other gnocchi the same :) The staff and the restaurant ambiance really added to the experience. It's a very hip rustic-style restaurant with limited seating, and although we had reservations for a table, we opted to sit at the bar to watch the food preparation. There we could see the chef and sous chef work meticulously to create masterpieces placing dots and drops in just the right places, carefully crafting plates and desserts. The line cooks were the backbone of the restaurant cooking up the dishes and tasting sauces to ensure they were prepared well and ready to send out to customers. They have a good system and it was entertaining to watch. Both our server and the chef were good about educating us on the restaurant and the dishes. Plates were cleared quickly, drinks were never empty. We could not have asked for a better meal.

The food was excellent as was the service. We really enjoyed everything. my one drawback was portion side. We were told everything was shareable and that was how we should order because even if the order was placed together the kitchen could not guarantee that the food would come out together. The food was delicious but the portions were too small for the price. We were three people and it came to $43 per person and we were not full (that might not be a bad thing, it kept me to my diet) but I felt that I should not have walked away feeling like maybe i wanted a little more. Again the food was good. Just give me a little more per serving.

So I read the reviews before going and it seemed as though the most common complaint is how tiny the servings are. I thought how small can the food be? Well... yes... the food is complete microscopic. They list the ingredients and when they bring it out you're staring at the food like how can there be so many ingredients listed on the menu but my plate has literally 3 bites? So why 5 stars? Because the 3 bites that I had was the most gratifying 3 bites I have had in tampa. My taste buds exploded and I was just in awe how such a small bite can have so many different flavors. I ordered short ribs, oysters, and pork belly. Everything was literally cooked to perfection. They tell you it's sharing size, but thats untrue, the dishes are so small it's hard to share without being the prick that eats all of it, and even if you wanted to share... you won't want to after you have had your first bite.

I've never had a meal as beautifully prepared or as enthusiastically served as the one I enjoyed at Rooster & the Till. Our server Pia explained the 'Tapas' style portions, and that we would probably want to try several plates. We did, and it is now my mission to try the entire menu. I've literally never had better food at a restaurant. Ever. Even my EXTREMELY picky Fiancee loved everything we ate, and we had so much fun trying some new, fairly off the wall ingredients you don't have the pleasure of coming across too often. (Pork Jowl. Don't ask. Don't google. Just eat.) I personally liked the idea of having a little of this and that on each plate rather than huge honking portions of one or two selections of mediocre food. It was a culinary excursion that I loved embarking on and I can't wait to go back. You won't leave so full that you hate yourself, but you will leave absolutely satisfied. Trust me.

I can't say a single bad thing at all. I recommend highly sitting at the bar. You get the best experience and the chefs love talking about each dish. You feel their pride in the creations. We had a shrimp dish from the raw menu which was delicious. Then the cheese plate with 5 cheese offerings from coast to coast. The Greyson was my favorite along with Pike Place cheddar but all 5 were so good. Dinner was from "small offerings": gnocchi is a must have! It's freshly made daily. Froie gras was incredible. The pork cheeks looked amazing but we didn't get it this time. Desserts were incredible. Bread pudding was so good & we aren't bread pudding people so that says a lot! The strawberry cake was so good, I'd lick the plate if it weren't frowned upon. :) Miles was a perfect server. The conversations with the staff was the best part of the meal.

The different combinations of foods prepared almost as a tapas. All portions are for 2.... So u will need to go back a few times to enjoy the whole menu!

As soon as you walk in you can get the vibe of this is going to be a great experience. The staff were very helpful with clarification on some of the dishes; the cooks also took the time to answer our questions and the food was PHENOMENAL!!!! The wine selection was good, however adding liquor would make it more palatable for the people that do not drink beer and wine only.

This is a 6 in my book. The food scene in Tampa is moving on up thanks to R&T moving to town. The Heights is making a move to be the 'Brooklyn' of the Tampa area. Its amazing what a couple of tatted up guys can accomplish with 2 convection burners, a reach in oven and a sous vide bath. Its absolutely mind blowing. They push out plates that rival the best restaurants with the most expensive kitchens. Balanced, colorful and extremely well thought out. I totally align with the small(ish) plate theme they got going on here. It allows you to taste as many things as you can stomach. For my wife and I, we had 4 plates (see pics), dessert and a couple rounds of PBR. Id say we were rather full after the mouthgasms we endured. I would put this place in the $$ realm. Absolutely not overpriced and definitely above the status quo for quality and creativity. The staff is all around dope. The hostess and waitstaff are very knowledgeable and the chefs are willing to chat it up while you eat (assuming you sit at the chefs table - which I highly recommend). This place is not very big and the parking is a bit tight so I would make a reso and show up early...but those are high class problems. If thats the worst of it then we arent doing to bad.

It took me a long time to come here because they didn't originally take reservations, but finally, they do. We started with the cheese plate. I loved that each cheese came paired with the perfect accompaniment (jam or honey, etc.). There wasn't quite enough bread given that most of the cheeses were quite soft, but our server did offer to bring more bread after we ran out. We then moved on to many small plates. We started with the pork belly, which was wonderful. I loved the acidic apple with the fatty pork belly. We moved onto the brussel sprouts, which were perfect. I thought the beef loin was less successful. It was done as a sort of deconstructed reuben, but the beef didn't pick up enough of the pastrami pickling spices, and the sauerkraut was too sour. Same with the pork jowl. It was very fatty and greasy. There were a couple other dishes I was more interested in than the pork jowl and beef loin, but they were out. We started out with a wine and a beer, but then we ordered a bottle of the tempranillo. I liked the idea of the affordable wine list, but as I was spending so much on food, I would have liked the option to have a nicer bottle. I did ask about corkage ($20), but they had no decanters. I think this place is certainly one of the most interesting in Tampa.

Really fun menu with a lot of small plate options. Great meat and cheese plates with a few items that really stand out. Wine list is a bit sparse but has a lot of great selections on it. Staff is friendly and knowledgable. Always fun to see a hipster in jeans do proper wine service. The space is great, but the high ceilings let sounds bounce around, so can get a little loud. All and all a great part of Seminole heights

Rooster & the Till is a place many Yelpers have raved about, so I obviously succumbed to peer pressure and decided to give it a go. I called a few days before to make reservations since I had heard the place fills up on Fridays and on the weekends, and was given the option of sitting at a regular table or the bar area. Now, usually I am not one to sit at the bar because I feel like it generally detracts from conversation and can be awkward, but the hostess convinced me that this was a much better option because you could see the food being prepared right in front of you. So, at that point, it was a no-brainer: we would sit at the bar. We actually passed this place on our way here since there was no huge sign, but we took some back streets and finally made it to the restaurant. It's very small inside and there are not many tables, but the decor is very cute. It has sort of an old-school/vintage feel that is very "hip" these days. Sitting at the bar, we were given drinks and checked out the menu. As a true Yelp-obsessed person, I had already checked the menu out and looked through all of the photos on R&T's review page, so I had a decent idea of what I wanted to try, but still vowed to remain somewhat adventurous. We tried several items: the cheese plate, the pork belly, the strip loin, buffalo tartare, and this sausage thing called butifarra. The cheese plate was pretty delicious. It came with some Spanish cheeses (woohoo) as well as some meats and pates. Now, some pates are really gross, so my boyfriend and I were hesitant on the chicken pate specifically. But those fears were assuaged after the first bite because that chicken pate was off the chain. It was very good and paired with nuts and some sort of wine jell-o like concoction that was very delicious and not too overpowering. My favorite cheese was probably the blue cheese since it was incredibly strong and paired well with the honeycomb. The pork belly was incredible, definitely the highlight of the meal. The pork was perfectly soft and tender. Paired with a little piece of cornbread and some sweet honey, this was the perfect combination of foods. The strip loin was pretty good -- it had some nice, strong flavor. The crisps they brought with the pork loin had a nutty taste to them which worked well with the meat and the sauerkraut. Buffalo tartare was on point -- usually tartare is brought out in some sort of block form but this was spread out all over the plate. It was accompanied with a mustard sauce and had a great variety of flavors, with hints of apple inside. The sausage/butifarra dish was also excellent, but I found the sausage a little bit dry. It wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't order it again. My boyfriend loved it though. The service was great throughout the night. Clean plates were brought out quickly and the chefs explained all the dishes to us, which was very helpful and interesting. So, a tl;dr summary of my R&T visit: small plates brought me oodles of joy and packed a punch full of taste. I would totally come back and plan to do so soon!

It took only one bite of short rib gnocchi to know, with the utmost clarity and confidence, that this was going to be the best meal I've had so far this year, and that Rooster and the Till would likely hold this title indefinitely. Sitting at the bar overlooking the chef area is a dangerous play: on one hand you get to witness firsthand the care and artistry that goes into every dish, but it will cause serious order envy. Come hungry, and come ready to shell out for some brilliant things you never thought to try before, but definitely do make it a point to come.

Plain and simple. This place puts out phenomenal food! Platings are great and the food is executed wonderfully. No unnecessary elements to lose the flavor of what's important, they let the food speak on its own, plain and simple. Foie, cobia collar, gnocchi, all dishes I've had at lots of restaurants and their dishes stack up with the very best. I do have to say I was not expecting to have such a great meal when we were pulling up. The location and neighborhood just throw you off until you get inside. Open kitchen, lots of wood, modern/rustic chic decor is beautiful! Even the hanging artisanal exposed lightbulbs shows you their attention to detail on everything Rooster and the Till before you even sit down. A friend and I dined before a concert without a reservation and had no problem being sat. We ate almost every app they had on the small plate section, charcuterie and cheese plus desert. Everything was just killer, again the best in my opinion was the foie, cobia collar and gnocchi!! Wine list was quite good and beer selection was great. Desert wine list could have been bigger but at a spot that seats 70 max and as a newer restaurant I can understand why. That being said they had a Vin Santo that was everything I ever wanted in a desert wine. Service was great and the Chefs and owners really care, you can tell how deep the passion to give you great food is. So here is my view on Rooster and the Till. Yes the portions are smaller and the prices sit on the larger side. Yes you can't order one dish and be full. Yes they have tongue, livers, pig jowls and other offal cuisine. GOOD! I want to try as many dishes as possible and for the quality of food they put out it should cost a little more than your run of the mill spot that outsources for their charcuterie plates (which at the Till it's all made in house, actually I think they make everything in house). GOOD! I try to find spots that have pork belly, liver of all sorts and other amazing cuts of meat other places are scared of putting on a menu, it doesn't hurt that they prepare it perfectly. So if you agree with even some of what I'm saying Congrats!! Here is what I now consider the best place to have a decadent meal in Tampa that you'll remember for a while. And if not maybe try Brio, Cheesecake Factory or Olive Garden.

Everything is perfect here...but you have to be prepared to drop some cash. If you plan to only spend $50 on dinner and drinks for 2 you probably will leave hungry. HOWEVER if you skip the drinks you can probably just eat for $50-60 plus tip. Most of the small plates are in the $9-12 range and are about 4-6 bites of food. The larger plates cost a few dollars more and are slightly larger but they still aren't what I'd consider "entree sized". This is a place you go with others who really enjoy innovative cuisine and then you all share a bunch of bites of food with each other and discuss how amazing everything is...while you share a bottle of wine or some craft beer. I would never bring my family here because it would serve only to confuse them. Other people whose families have better taste? They'd love it. My 2 favorite dishes of all time have been the short rib gnocchi which we've had multiple times and the squash which we had for the first time this past weekend. I hesitate to order squash because it's usually butternut which can be a bit too sweet and sometimes stringy. We were told this was locally-grown kabocha squash, and it had house-made marshmallow fluff, browned butter-molasses sauce, chile pepper threads, and some sort of salty smoked nuts. Perfect texture for the squash and the toppings were divine and the ideal complement. I wanted to order 3 more plates of it! I'm daydreaming of this squash. Oh, and the desserts are fantastic. We've enjoyed all the dishes we've had, and service has always been great. The only time anything has been just slightly less than perfect was when we came in during the tail-end of a Cigar City multi-course tasting event. The chefs had been preparing food for the dozen or so people at the bar and the temp was low on 2 of our dishes. Acceptable, considering how they were all working like food wizards behind the bar to churn out all those dishes at the same time...in addition to a full house of regular diners. Employees can answer any question you may have about the food, wine, beer, oysters and although you may label them as hipsters, all have been friendly and approachable. The restaurant is quite small, so I'd recommend reservations on weekends or going later in the night. They do have a small parking lot that pretty much matches up with the size of the restaurant. The building is non-descript from the outside but the decor inside is very cool. I love that the lighting fixtures are made from chicken feeders. This is my favorite restaurant in Seminole Heights. I hesitate to give this answer when people ask me, "So if you live there...what's your favorite restaurant?" because I think, "Are they like my family?" But this is it. I love Rooster & the Till and I hope you will too.

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and they get extra credit for having so many vegetarian options, plus special notes for menu items that can be made vegetarian. The menu changes because it's local and seasonal, but I had the gnocchi and roasted squash and both plates were amazing. I know some of the reviews complain about small portions but I thought they were reasonable for the quality, and I definitely walked out full! Tables are hard to get (although they're expanding into the next-door space in July 2015) but the kitchen bar has a better view anyway.

Unbelievable. Fantastic food because every dish is made individually with fresh ingredients. This is how food is supposed to be cooked. Come here with an open pallet and you won't be disappointed. Get the gnocchi and short ribs.

What an amazing dining experience! So much thought goes into every single item here, and it really comes through when you taste this food. We started with oysters and some local wahoo crudo. The oysters were good. They are already sauced for you and it was a different taste for sure. The crudo was amazing. The fish was super fresh and it came with this excellent jalapeño sorbet that was the perfect compliment to the slightly spicy almond milk sauce the fish sat in. My 2 favorite dishes were the short rib gnocchi and the pork belly. The gnocchi was simply amazing. The different but complimentary flavors in every bite.....just wow. The pork belly was outstanding. The cornbread was in this slightly spicy honey and the pickled apples went so perfectly. I can't imagine eating pork belly without that taste now! Our server was awesome. Super knowledgeable and he explained each dish to us. Service is obviously very important here. We had a nice ipa on tap as well. I really really enjoyed myself here and I'm looking forward to going back soon and trying even more dishes.

There was a group of 3 of us and we decided to order the Kitchen Sink (full tasting menu). Our server informed us that it serves up to 4-6 people, but we weren't discouraged, we all have pretty large appetites. In addition to the Kitchen Sink, we ordered oysters (dozen) to start the meal. The oysters were from Maine and they are served just the way they should be enjoyed (no horseradish or cocktail sauce). They were seasoned/garnished beautifully and deliciously. The oysters were sweet and they were complimented with an almost citrus seasoning. Next, we had the charcuterie and cheese tasting. I'm usually not a fan of ordering something like this because I'm oftentimes left disappointed, but I was blown away by the pairings that were featured. Some of my favorites: blue cheese, fresh honeycomb, chicken liver pate, and BBQ spiced pork pate. (We devoured everything on the slate and we loved everything). Small plates: Burrata, tomatoes, eggplant pine nut agrodolce, breadcrumbs, and whey emulsion. This dish was light, refreshing, and it helped cleanse the palate after the charcuterie and cheese tasting. Strip loin, pastrami spice, juniper kraut, eye mayo, pickled mustard seed, and oat and horseradish bread. A wonderful twist on a deli sandwich. The sliced strip loin was beautiful and delicious when paired with the texture of the bread. We ended up making an open faced sandwich because it was much easier to eat compared to using the knife and fork. The struggle would have been real to attempt bite size portions whilst trying to get the delicate mustard seeds and kraut to stay atop the bite. Roast squash, brown butter molasses, smoked almonds, and cinnamon marshmallows. If you love squash, this dish is a must. Pork belly, cornbread, pickled apple, and peppercorn honey. This was one of my favorite dishes. The portions were small, so I ate it in one large bite (yes, I could have been lady-like and cut it all in half or in small portions, but alas, my hunger won the battle over my desire to appear lady-like). The pork belly may have been the best I've ever had, and the pickled apple was the perfect compliment. Roast mushrooms, coal grilled toast, bacon, whipped bleu, and roast born marrow. Everything about this dish was perfect. The mushrooms were delicious, the whipped bleu along with the bone marrow were delicate and perfect, and the coal grilled toast was the perfect thing to tie it all together. The dish would not have been the same had the toast not been grilled over coals. It was amazing. Hmmm, maybe this was also one of my favorite dishes. Brussel sprouts, Tasso ham, burnt onion, mustard vinegar, and smoked aioli. This dish was perfect. The mustard vinegar gave the entire dish a perfect hint of acidity when paired with the ham and sweetness of the burnt onions. Bravo. Gnocchi, short ribs, smoked ricotta, san marzano's, and spicy peperonata. "Is this what gnocchi is supposed to taste like?" That is exactly what I said. I haven't had much exposure to gnocchi because, well, perhaps because I had it once or twice and I didn't think it was all that great. But I'll tell you this, Rooster and the Till's gnocchi is on point and has set a pretty high standard. Larger dishes: Pork jowl, corn pudding, crisp pig ear, pickled turnips, and porky jus. This was my first time enjoying pork cheeks. It was fatty and delicious. When eaten with the corn pudding and the pickled turnips, it transformed the taste immediately. Pappardelle, red wine braised beef tongue, currants, and zucchini chestnut goat cheese pesto. Do you love beef tongue? If you do, please do yourself a favor and order this dish. I happen to be a fan of beef tongue in all of it's culinary glory, whether served yakiniku style or simply in tacos. This dish was quite a treat! Rooster and the Till fish, milk and butter potatoes, rapini, corona beans, and stewed tomatoes. Forgive me, I can't remember what kind of fish it was. But it was meaty and had a wonderful texture. The stewed tomatoes were amazing. This dish was a beautiful and delicious. Dirty farro, chicken liver, guanciale, collard greens, and an egg served at 74 degrees. I'm not going to lie, at this point, we were feeling pretty full, but we mustered the energy to keep eating. We broke the egg and began to eat. The dish is very hearty. If you are going to order it on its own or to share amongst a few other dishes, this is an excellent choice. But eating this dish after having, I've lost count of how many dishes preceded this one, was a difficult task. (We took it home for leftovers). Mangalitsa butifarra, lardo whipped potatoes, and sofrita marmalade. Pork sausage, but not any kind of pork sausage. Some people call it the Kobe beef of pork. And if you know anything about Kobe beef, then you know you're in for a treat. If you love pork/sausage, order this dish, you won't be disappointed. Dessert: 2 desserts. Amazing. Yelp has just notified me that I have exceeded the text limit.

My husband and I love this place! When we dine alone we always sit at the chef's counter. The front is the house and the back of the house staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. We always feel welcomed and at home here. They serve small plates of food that are meant to be shared. This works perfectly for us as we like to try several dishes and always leave happy and satisfied. The chefs put so much thought into each dish-it's incredible.

Food was superb! We ordered the gnocchi, broccoli, and last cheese sampler listed on the menu. You don't get a lot of food per item. I would recommend getting 2 small plates per person. Expensive but worth it. Gnocchi was my favorite but everything was tasty. Make sure you get a reservation.

My husband surprised me with date night reservations. Recently we've been to New York, Vegas, Tahoe, Breckenridge, etc. so we've eaten at phenomenal restaurants. I made the comment last week that I wish Tampa had restaurants comparable to ones we had been eating at lately. Tonight we found a place in Tampa that finally stepped up to the plate. Rooster and The Till brings the finesse and technique of fine dinning to Seminole Heights. We did the 5 course tasting menu w wine pairing. Each course was fantastic and delicately executed, it's a welcomed difference to the Tampa food scene.

4.5 Stars, but rounded up because Bailey, our server, was outstanding. This restaurant was a great choice to go to with another couple. Because we split everything, I feel like we got to try a wider variety of items. We started with the cheese plate, which was an interesting portion of 4 different cheeses. As it only came with 4 or so toast points, do yourself a favor and order extras at the start. Next we shared four small plates: the Brussel sprouts, then salmon (from the raw bar), then pork bellies with cornbread, and gnocchi. Sprouts combined with a salty ham were delicious, salmon was incredibly fresh, and the pork belly melted in your mouth. I loved the little piece of pickled apple served with the pork belly. That whole flavor combo really explodes in your mouth. Gnocchi was good, but probably my least favorite (although I was the exception at the table) - not enough short rib/too much ricotta? Finally we had two larger plates; the homemade sausage with whipped potatoes, and the fish of the night, which was wahoo. Of those two, the fish was my favorite because I loved the cabbage, pork shoulder, and fish combined in the creamy sauce. For dessert I had my very own layered mason jar treat, made of custard, blueberry compote, and ice cream - yummy! I love that they fresh brew your single serving cup of coffee, though I would have enjoyed having it with my dessert. A second cup would have been nice, as well, but their system is not set up that way. R&tT has so many winning elements: excellent service, amazing fresh flavors, interesting food combinations, and a clean farm/industrial atmosphere with enough soundproofing you can actually hold a conversation - we will definitely treat ourselves again to this little gem.

Hands-Down my favorite restaurant in Tampa! Ferrell Alvarez and crew consistently turn out culinary delights that leave you wondering how food could even taste this good! The service is always spot-on as well. The servers always have encyclopedic knowledge of the entire menu. I recommend making reservations to sit at the kitchen bar and watch them work their magic! A+++

Probably the most complete, and most completely satisfying, restaurant experience I have had in a very long time. The decision to go was due to inclement weather that forced our outdoor plans to be scrapped and an indoor option explored. It was a busy Friday night but we were fortunate to be offered two seats at the bar. Best break ever. We really enjoyed watching the open kitchen in action, being able to ask questions and interact with several members of the staff. We were greeted, seated and given menus promptly along with a quick tutorial on the chilled items listed on the chalk board and the printed menu dishes. It all rang true rather than sound like someone reciting from a script. And our questions were graciously acknowledged and appropriately answered. This is a group of people working together who know what they are doing, know what they are representing and know how to share their passion with the public. We were really more interested in conversation than food but once the food arrived that was all we could talk about. The food and the incredible setting that gives this restaurant a personality that both my friend and I agreed good easily fit into a larger urban setting like Seattle or Vancouver. This is food done with flourish and finesse. The service was professional and the presentation polished. It took driving rain to get me to finally drive to the doorstep of this restaurant. For the bad weather, I am thankful. For the fabulous food, I am extremely grateful.

While in Tampa, we stayed in a lovely little district called Seminole Heights. On our way through, we spotted this restaurant and decided to head back there for dinner. So glad we stopped in! The atmosphere was wonderful, rustic craftsmen touches that turned reclaimed materials into a great place to hang out, with nice details like barebulb lighting. The food was also crafted very thoughtfully, using local & organic foods. We ordered several small plates and enjoyed sharing the unique flavor combinations like strip loin with juniper kraut and pickled mustard seed, or the pole beans with potato confit and duck cracklings. A lovely experience, and highly recommended if you visit Tampa, Florida! Also, quite paleo diet friendly.

Why 5 stars? Because this is more science than food. --- --- --- I'm convinced that instead of a kitchen in the back of Rooster & the Till, there's actually a science lab, where experiments of the human tongue are constantly being performed. I admit, I was skeptical of the microscopic portions here, but I've been twice, and left content each time. That being said, R&T is undoubtedly more expensive than Bern's, if you plan on eating something close to a full meal. (I'm obviously not including the potential for massive, expensive wine consumption at Bern's.) But my two tickets tallied to $100 and $132 for a normal, human-sized amount of food. You don't leave here without trying two things: -The Oysters - Assuming they have the Old Bay ice. It's the most genius idea I've ever seen. It's so amazing that I feel like it's a craze that will soon be sweeping America. -Pork Belly - Probably the most laughable portion I've seen. The amusing part is that they bring it out on a plate that would hold an entire cheesecake. But, I tell you this... it's incredible and worth every cent of the $11 it costs. -I'd add a third item to the must-have list, but the dessert menu constantly changes. But for both of my visits, I was lucky enough to have some sort of salted caramel parfait with orange Hooker tea, and a whole bunch of other items straight from the pearly gates. While enjoying many of the items at R&T, I find myself thinking the same thing, "I'm feeling parts of my tongue that I didn't know existed." One of the best foodie experiences in Tampa Bay, and I'm oh-so-lucky to have it in my backyard. My love for Seminole Heights grows more and more every day. And as a bonus, I think the decor is as awesome as the food. I want my house to look like R&T.

Fantastic! My wife and I thoroughly enjoy our experiences here. As others have suggested, the pricing is a bit high for the portion size, but you the quality makes it worth every cent. We normally go and get 5-6 "smalls" + a couple of drinks each and will walk out of spending on average of $80. I can not give enough praise to the overall concept and the execution of the concept. The restaurant is small (plans to expand are in the works), but its rustic charm is a great setting for the quality of food you will experience. The fact that the food is sourced locally contributes to the freshness and the variety of the menu as the seasons change. Bottom line...if you're in Seminole Heights and looking for a nice restaurant with great food and a cool vibe, GO HERE!

I always get excited when a new restaurant is set to open in Seminole Heights, but I never could have imagined how great this one would be. My hubby and I decided to check it out on a Monday night in order to avoid the crowds and we are so glad we did! First of all, our waitress was so passionate about the concept and the food and talked us through the many items on the menu. It was great to have a bit of a coaching session before ordering because I would have had so many questions. My husband and I sat at a table, but next time I really want to sit at the counter where you can watch them make the food, as this is seriously food art here. Okay - the food. We ordered the Charcuterie and cheese board to start. It was really good. There were so many items on there that I couldn't even keep track of what I was eating, but it all tasted great so I wasn't too worried about what it was. We ordered 2 small plates: the mushroom small plate and the pork belly. Both were EXCELLENT. We also ordered 2 large plates: the goat pasta and the lamb shanks. I had never had goat before that I can remember and I was really pleasantly surprised with the taste. We ended the meal with a dessert they were offering that night that was kind of like a sundae: a layer of orange tea infused cream, a layer of salted caramel, and a layer of granola (there was probably more in it that I can't remember). So good. So I've seen some reviews talking about the pricing and portion sizes. This isn't a restaurant you go to if you are famished and wanting and inexpensive and filling meal. This is a restaurant you go to if you are willing to spend a little extra to get to taste flavors that you won't get anywhere else. Every single thing we had was not something I would ever dream of pairing together, yet it was so tasty and different. We left very full (we may have over ordered) and can't wait to come back and try some other items that R&tT have to offer. Thanks for picking Seminole Heights to open this gem of a restaurant!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Anyone that loves amazing food should try this place. My wife and I went for Valentine's Day with the 3 course menu. The burrata and tomato appetizer is perfection. Yes perfection. I like great restaurants (Gary danko, Tru, purple pig, spotted pig, Jose Andrés mini bar, Balthazar, ravenous pig, luma, ABC kitchen, monks kettle) and the is a great restaurant. I'll be back! Arnold arnold schwarzenegger! Great beer and wine selection. I had a Belgium blonde ale! It was like whoa! Black rob. Cleanest kitchen I've ever seen. We ate at bar overlooking the kitchen and chef. This chef takes pride in his workspace. Staff was really polite.

We were here a couple of months ago. This place is fantastic. Deserving of 5 stars. If we lived closer we would have been there again already. We were staying in Tampa for a little staycation and were not far from here. The duck spread on the charcuterie and cheese slate is out of this world. The staff is extremely helpful. You will need them to explain the menu because most of it is pretty complicated but don't let that stop you from coming here. You will be glad you did.

Quaint location off N. Florida ave, don't drive too fast as you'll miss it. The restaurant has a cozy feeling, looks like it seats 40 or so people. It's tapas style so you'll have a chance to try many dishes. I went with my wife and another couple and we enjoyed the food. Starters: Dozen oysters from the raw bar. I feel the oysters could have been served colder, ours was kinda warm, the kim chee ice was melted before we got them but was a nice touch. Charcuterie and cheese board: Was certainly a favorite, fresh chicken liver pate, pork pate, cheeses were ample and they bought out lots of bread for us. Gnocchi and Short ribs - Amazing! Wish there was more on the plate! Burrata and tomatoes were very refreshing and flavorful. Pappardelle with red wine braised beef tongue was excellent, the flowing sheets of pasta were cooked well and goat cheese pesto was inspiring. R&T fish with milk butter potatoes, rapini, corona beans was awesome! I don't remember what the fish was but it was tender and flaky. The beans were plentiful and broth was amazing - tart and savory from the fish and stewed tomatoes. Definately a place to go with some friends! Will return!!! Had the Dale's Pale Ale with everything.

This place is AMAZING! Very very tiny, so you definitely want to make a reservation a few days in advance. Everything is meant for sharing, so the dishes are small like tapas. However, you can just order tons of different things, and get to taste more. You know the drill... They offer a raw bar, surprisingly one of the few in Tampa considering our proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and the Ocean. This is a huge plus! Additionally, everything we ordered from the raw section was incredibly fresh tasting and delightful. Get the Oysters. Next, you won't want to skip the Charcuterie trays. Each cheese is strategically paired with a sometimes odd sounding accompaniment. Be brave, and try all of the pairings the way they've laid it out for you. Your tastebuds will come to life, and your mind will be blown away that cheese could be so exciting! Don't go too fast, we still have to get to the food. As I mentioned earlier, order lots of dishes with the intention of sharing with the table. All the food is cooked 10 feet away in an open kitchen the size of a post stamp. That means there is no room to keep dishes sitting and waiting. Each dish will come to the table as it is ready to be served. Another great reason for sharing with the whole table. You won't have to let your dish get cold, while waiting for someone else's to arrive. I cannot say enough about each and everything we ordered from the hot side of the menu. Veggie or Protein, it was all mouthwatering. I found myself sighing with an under my breath "Mmmmm" every time a bite entered my mouth. I've lived in Tampa for 9 years, I love food adventures, and have eaten Everywhere. I can say without hesitation, this is the best food I've ever eaten in Tampa Bay.

Our friends almost did not go this weekend for fear that it was out of their budget. I had a surprise (free) baby sitter and thought we might try one of the many new spots that have been popping up here. I love spots like this (reminded me a lot of barley swine in AUS) but if you want to try everything, it can get pricy But its well worth it. We will be going back soon !.

Yo this place is great. Had an 8:30 reso on a Saturday night. Sit at the bar. Open kitchen is an under statement. They prepared everything right under our noses. Pace was great. Staff was knowledgeable, kind, and laid back. Got: oysters, cheese slate, gnocchi, foie gras, pork jowl, and ribeye for two people. If you're looking for a unique and intimate dining experience in Tampa, this place is for you.

This is actually the best restaurant in Tampa that I've found. Tiny, intimate space (make a reservation!) with rustic yet elegant decor. A "new American" menu featuring local ingredients that makes it very hard to order wrong. A fun wine list with some unusual and tasty selections. This is a must-visit.

Love this place. The food has remained consistently creative and so tasty. The flavors in the combinations always mesh well. The pork belly with corn bread remains as good as it was the first time I tried it. Love this place.

This place is simply amazing. From the minute you walk in, to the minute you walk out, and everything in between, flawless in every way. Food is absolutely spectacular. I have yet to eat somewhere in the area that balances flavor and textures as seamlessly as this crew does. Split nearly the entire menu with one other person and was stuffed for about $60 all said and done. Considering other restaurants do 5 course tastings around $90, I look at this place as the most affordable tasting menu ever, especially when it is some of the best food I've ever had. Make an evening out of this place. You will be very pleased. Guaranteed. Great job.

I had the most amazing foi gras here! It was a piece of heaven. If the oysters were better I would have gave it 5 stars. I like adding my own sauces to the oysters but I think it was pre-added. Also there was something weird in the oysters that I had to spit out. Other than that everything was very good and intricately prepared.

First impression - slightly funky smell when you walk in. Kinda like the Asian supermarkets in town. Not a good start. Really casual and friendly servers, and a lot of regulars. Server took the time to explain the menu and beer selections. Food wise, quality was above average. Some of the dishes I liked were the foie gras and gnocchi (which was exceptional). We all felt the cheese charcuterie platter was a bit of the disappointment last night. Prices are pretty ok

The Owner/Chef and Staff are a great team for a wonderful flavor adventure. We have never asked to hug the chef before in our lives. Tiny portions to tease you and make you almost lick the plate for more. Its been a long time since we have had such a culinary delight for 120.00 including two glasses of wine. We are hooked and bringing friends. This place is not easy to find by GPS as it is off about 100 yards. There is a pub on the same side of the street about 300 feet south. Maybe seating for 50-60 including the bar. We really enjoyed the food and the staff~!!! We found this through a yelp notice and decided to check it out. Thanks Yelp~!

I haven't written a review in quite some time. However, Rooster and the Till deserves the effort. First off, I suggest reservations. Secondly, sit at the bar if possible. Watching the food preparations and plating was a great experience. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive and willing to explain anything and everything. The menu is refreshingly unique without an overall cuisine theme. I won't get into what we ate, because it's been a few weeks, and quite frankly, I can't remember the specifics because it involved a lot of firsts for me. What I can tell you is that it is one of the best, if not the best food I've ever had. If you are not an experimental eater, this is not the restaurant for you. Furthermore, don't bring your children. It's an adult dining experience in a small space, so please leave your kids at home with a sitter.

This is my favorite restaurant in Tampa...and I own one! Not cheap but worth it. I have been several times and never had a negative experience. Worth a special trip to the Heights...and afterward come to Mermaid Tavern ;)

Pros - delicious food, friendly staff, cool ambience Cons - the place is tiny and therefore it feels very crowded, and the music was quite loud you have to almost shout to hear your friends talking We ordered 6 out of the 7 Smalls and they were all very delicately seasoned. My favorite was the foie gras. We also ordered the charcuterie and cheese tasting platter. They were quite cheap with the slices of bread, we kept asking for more. Overall a very pleasant dining experience. Will come back and bring friends from out of town.

Great little place in Seminole Heights. Everything was first rate. Started with meat and cheese platter. Then got steak crudo crostini. Amazing! Then short rib gnocchi which was awesome. All plates are very small and meant to be shared. Finished with the rib eye. Again very small and ours was unfortunately over cooked. Desserts seemed to be an after thought. They offer two and both were a little lack luster. Overall a great evening. Service was top notch.

I'm torn on this one. It's probably in the 3.5 range for me. I came here with a friend for their Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) release. The service was very good, the food was good, but nothing that left me saying "wow I have to get back here soon". I really like the feel of the space. It has a San Francisco quality to it because it is a small space and it is very stylish, but not in a stuffy way. I had the raw oysters which were very tasty and fresh. I also had the famous pork belly with pickled apple dish and was not overly impressed. I liked the corn bread and how it soaked up the black peppercorn honey. I also liked the pickled apple spheres and how they were flavorful and crisp. The pork belly was just not what I was expecting. It was like cutting into a really tough steak (albeit minuscule). I am so used to nice gelatinous, tender presentation that this really threw me for a loop. The portions were on the small side, especially considering I had to spit two pieces of cartilage out from the slices of belly. Overall, I liked the flavors and composition of the dish, but the star of the show (pork belly) was lacking and really took a backseat to the cornbread. I will try to make it back here to try a few other dishes, but like I said, with so many other places in the area, I won't be in a rush to do so.

So Mark H. and I got the charcuterie combined with the cheese, and a drink each. Looking around, another hipster haven complete with bartenders in suspenders and funky haircuts. Over 40.00 later I'm starving and pissed off because an entire corner of my cheese/meat board is covered in cheek fat. Perhaps someone could tell me what I'm supposed to do with a pig jowl piece of slack flesh on my plate, because I was clueless. I held it up to the light looking for any trace of meat I could strip but there was nothing to be found. I thought pork jowls were fried? I know jowl bacon exists, but I was caught off guard with a huge stack of fat on this thing and totally grossed out. Talk about chewing the fat with Mark H! I guess I'm not a refined enough hipster to get this place, and will never be back. Leaving this one to "the pros".

The service is amazing! I thought it would be stuffy but it wasn't at all. A very relaxed atmosphere. We didn't love everything we had but that was to be expected since we got to try a lot of things we've never had before. But hands down, the gnocchi was by far the best I've ever had, and I nearly swooned with pleasure at the coconut panna cotta with mochi ice cream dessert.

My best friend took me here while visiting in Tampa and it was by far one of the best dining experiences ever. From the very beginning it was awesome, started with a great oyster selection and a few very fresh clams. Moved on to an amazing charcuterie and cheese slate, with some very delicious selections. Finished off sharing the pork jowl that was very tasty and an absolutely outstanding r&t fish that blew us all away! Pairing all that with a great bottle of wine and a view of all the food being made from our seats at the bar and good conversation with the friendly staff, truly an awesome gem in Tampa!

I'm old enough to know when something just ain't my thing, and this is one of those "things." I'm all for hipster indie establishments in old shitty neighborhoods, but Rooster and the Till just didn't do it for me. I liked the quaint and vibrant atmosphere, but La Chica and I ordered a charcuterie and cheese taster that was less than stellar. The cheeses were okay, and I loved they way they were paired up with sweets, but the so-called "meats" were just too far from left field. Freakin' pork jowl, beef heart and a sausage meatloaf type thing? I guess it would have been alright had they tasted good, but they didn't. The best one was the beef heart, and that rivaled your common 7-11 brand beef jerky. Seriously unimpressive. However, I'm not ruling them out just yet. I'd consider returning for an entrée, but with so many places to feed, I'm just not sure when that will happen. Until then, "meh."

This place is fucking amazing. Hands down, one of the best meals I've had (I had the duck). They practice very sustainable methods of deliciousness and the space is very well designed. Not to mention every god damn waitress there seems to be an extension of Zoey Deschanel. The place is small, but looks are deceiving. One of the places you want to eat when you are in Tampa Bay. The portions are small but the flavor is large. You would not like this place if you are an overweight, unhealthy fat glub of lard that would order large drinks and buys in bulk. I feel the clientele here prefer the flavor and good food over bulk.

I don't post a ton of reviews, but I wanted to give a shout-out to my new favorite restaurant in Tampa. I used to tell people that Sideburns was the tops in this town (they're closed for reservations, FYI), but now I unreservedly recommend The Rooster & the Till. It's a tiny place (for now- they're planning an expansion soon), and the kitchen is right there in front of you behind the bar. The fact that they make such stunning food in this little space using induction hot plates, a single oven, and a sous vide circulator is remarkable in and of itself. Anyway, we prefer to sit at the kitchen bar to watch them work, and we always have lively conversations with those on the other side (including chefs Farrell and Brian, who are warm and generous with their time, even when the place is slammed). There are always-changing raw seafood options on the chalkboard, including two different oysters, fresh clams, and one or two crudo offerings. This last time we started with both crudos: an amberjack ceviche and a beef tenderloin crudo. They were both amazing, well balanced, intricate dishes, and beautifully presented. The charcuterie selection is awesome, and chef makes some of the best I've ever had anywhere. I could go on about that, but then this will get really long. There's an inviting selection of small plates, and I think I've tried them all over the last few months. There's not a bad one in the bunch, but my current favorite is is the gnocchi with short ribs, smoked ricotta, san marzano's, and pickled peperonata. The cheeky deconstructed ruben dish is a close second. The larger plates are similarly inventive and delicious. Don't expect a heaping plate of food (this is the only negative comment I've read in other reviews, but some people just don't get haute cuisine); instead expect incredible flavors that all make sense when you assemble that perfect bite. The deserts are always good too. We usually spend around $100, including 3 or 4 glasses of wine for me (or local beers, when I'm in the mood), and we always feel like we got our money's worth, and were very well taken care of. What's more, we feel like we've had s great time, laughing it up with the chefs and staff, and eating food that reminds us what real culinary talent is.

Seminole Heights' profile has been elevated by other restaurants that have come into our quaint 'hood over the past three years and I am so thankful for the "cred" we've recently received from previous naysayers that once told us that buying a house near Nebraska Avenue was ridiculous/stupid/scary/waste of money. Well color me ridiculous because I'm certain, we've made it now. Either by this new addition or by my outstanding ability to create run on sentences. Rooster and the Till is the bees knees y'all. I have a short but inclusive list of what makes a good restaurant and readily checked off each as we enjoyed our New Year's Eve there. And it was opening night. What kind of culinary wizardry is going here to ensure it's patrons have a flawless meal on opening night? The owner greeted us and was incredibly friendly and helpful as we selected our food. We ordered a cheese slate (AMAZING), the pork belly small plate (can't tell you, I draw lines at food with the word "belly" in them; my husband swooned though), and smoked mushroom small plate (AMAZING), the dishes looked incredibly and the two I tasted were delicious. The flavors from the mushrooms were enhanced by a pork vinaigrette (probably from the belly....DAMN IT!) and pickled apple and raisins and the cheese slate was served with a sampling (a large sampling) of five cheeses. The interior was lovely, and was made more so by the fact it look less time to walk to the restaurant than it would have to start the car and drive. I mean look at us, practically New Yorkers. Love it love it love it. We didn't try their wines as it was New Years Eve and we had Bailey's and hot chocolate to bring us into 2014 at home. But they have them, and they are sitting on the coolest wine rack I ever did see. I think I like this place. :)

Great food period! You can tell these guys are passionate about their craft. We sat at the bar and marveled at the 3 induction burners and a convection oven; proof it's not the equipment that matters but a passion for cooking. You witness the chemistry these guys have w their chef right away. We started w the oysters and I personally could have eaten 2 dozen, perfect balance of flavors and the shaved ice on top sealed the deal. Cheese slate great! Pork belly great! Wahoo & stewed tomatoes fantastic, gnocchi, great! Great service by one of the chefs wife and just a great dining experience overall! Wish they could all be like this

Charcuterie plate components were good quality but on the skimpy side - also, the bread perhaps should have been lightly toasted. The Blue Point Oysters were fresh but the sauce I did not care for. The R&T Fish and Pork shoulder was amazing! Finally, we really liked the Roasted Cauliflower - delicious! Highly recommended. The custard desert with blueberries and candied pecans and lemon curd ice cream was out of this world - my husband, who usually is not a dessert person, loved it. Overall, a highly recommended restaurant with great potential - and the service was excellent too! A great dining experience.

The rooster and the till has a lot of potential. It seems to be in an up and coming neighborhood. The decor is trendy for the area. The staff is friendly and it shows that this a fun place to work. It shows in staff interaction with customers. My complaint is the quality of food we received. I'm a culinary grad from CIA and own a food and beverage company in Vegas. I took my mother here while visiting her in Tampa. We ordered the cheese and charcuterie board. The price was a little high for what was given. It's competing with Las Vegas strip pricing. This is the suburbs of Tampa. The worst part was that two of the meats were inedible. One looked like it had sat out in the sun for 3 days, and was like chewing on slimy rubber. The chicken liver mousse was great and so were all of the cheeses. Portions sizes could've been slightly larger. Lastly I feel like the glasses of wine, for the price, should have 1 more oz added. I'm sure I caught them on an off day, and I look forward to trying the rooster and the till again

Finally! A dining experience worthy of praise in Tampa! This meal was spectacular. We were a party of 9 and selected two orders of the tasting menu which allowed us to taste everything on the menu. Our bill came out to about $50 each with alcohol. The vegetable dishes were so flavorful and the homemade MANGALITSA BUTIFARRA was out of this world. Melted in your mouth. Congratulations to the chefs, you have stepped up the food game in Tampa Bay single-handedly. Bravo.

Amazing dining experience. You can sit, relax, and enjoy great company while watching artists at work if you sit at the bar. The staff is passionate, excited about the food, and helpful. Food is prepared rapidly, so you can order as you go. This makes for relaxing dining. We chose multiple small plates, which were inventive and delicious. Despite being winter, the menu wasn't overly rich or satiating yet still hardy. Well balanced overall. If you are a true foodie, this should be on your list.

Adventurous haute southern cuisine on small plates. Portion sizes are small, but they always are when they're this good. Great for a special date night, not cheap, but not crazy expensive. Great selection of wine and beer. In a small strip building in Seminole Heights, and is a nice addition to the burgeoning culinary scene there, that includes Fodder and Shine, The Refinery, Ella's, and the Independent.

Another hidden gem erupts in Seminole Heights!! I've been anxiously awaiting the grand opening of this place and caught word they opened for service before the grand opening. Some Chefs can compare themselves to rockstar status and being that I've followed chef Alvarez from restaurant to restaurant, I guess you can say I'm a lil groupie when it comes to his cuisine and culinary technique. I say hidden Gem in many meanings from many different aspects. One being, driving past this restaurant you can easily miss it if you didn't know exactly where your going. Upon entering this establishment you get this feeling of transportation into a major metropolitan dining establishment on a small scale, where it is inviting to bump elbows with your neighbor and strike up conversation. This establishment only seats 37 people, this includes the bar area. As a result, there is no reservations. Despite, even if there is a wait the staff and owner updates you on seating status and will gladly get you a beverage as you wait. Another aspect would be this menu screams food forward all the way. There is no "safe dishes" if your coming here to dine. The concept of food forward cuisine Seminole Heights establishments screams it like no other area of town. Warm hospitality of being greeted and placed on a well expedited wait list by one of the co-owner Ty Rodriguez was quite an inviting touch entering this establishment. Miles the bartender and my server that night was very knowledgeable about the menu and if I threw a curve of a question, he carried a little notebook in his back pocket to make sure he described the chefs creations properly. Being a culinary gadget nut myself I can only help notice things most people might not notice about a kitchen. On the open kitchen line, this menu is executed on a sousvide which in short is a water oven and 3 induction plates that's it... This in itself goes hand in hand with the Seminole heights culture as a whole. This kitchen is energy efficient, yet modern culinary execution. Lets talk food: -Amberjack Crudo with orange, arugula, pesto and pickled mushrooms. The amberjack is thinly sliced to easily absorb the flavors of the citrus and pesto drizzle on the plate. Added boost of acid was the pickled mushrooms. This dish was light refreshing and cohesive. -Lamb heart tartare with fermented duck egg. surprisingly this this tartare mimics a beef tartare precisely, from texture to appearance to taste. The downside of this, I felt the tartare lacked a cohesive flavor ingredient. -Pork belly, cornbread, pickled apples, peppercorn honey. This dish is a Must Try. This is refined southern inspired cuisine that screams bacon candy heaven!!! -Chocolate wafer with strawberry coulis and crema. Flavors blend well for a finishing sweet treat, but the chocolate wafer really was almost wafer like and a little drier than I expected. Rooster & the Till places a bold, cutting edge and food forward menu to the public. Their menu is constantly evolving based on what they can local harvesting as much as possible. Like I said, these guys are rockstars of the culinary world tattoos and all to fit the role. Go visit Ty and chef Ferell and support their dream and vision.

Love this place! Came for Valentine's day and sat at the chef's bar. It was a perfect experience. The food was creative, delicious, and memorable. I loved sitting at the bar because the chef explained each dish to us right down to where some of the ingredients came from! If you feel like being adventurous and trying new things that you normally would not order -- come here. We ordered the beef crudo; gnocchi; pork jowl; ribeye; and two desserts. Perfect dinner for two.

AMAZING!!. We have been at this restaurant twice. The first time it was just my husband and I, I had the best Pork belly ever!!!!. Delicious combination of cornbread and apple that was just amazing. The second time we took my inlaws who have dined at the best restaurants all over the world. We decided to try THE KITCHEN SINK Basically you get to taste the complete menu for 200 dollars. From the Oysters to Desserts PERFECTION!. They loved it. Fresh food ,local products, good wine selection. Excellent service. Portions are small but you will not be disappointed.

I read once: "He who works with his hands is a laborer; he who works with his hands and brain a craftsman; but he who works with his hands, brain and heart is an artist." What they do here is absolutely art, and the space - with a bar centered around a small, open kitchen - lets you watch the whole process. Beautiful design,. I now live in San Francisco, and find myself missing this place dearly, even with the wealth of options here. I didn't go enough when I was living in Tampa!

Very affordable. Each dish was a little adventurous but they also nailed it each time. One of the better meals I've had in Tampa, and I'd highly recommend it. My only feedback would be to have a few more higher-end bottles of wine but in the end, they had a nice reasonably priced selection. Service was great. The decor was nice as well. I'd return. Menu seemed to be seasonal.

Ok, I stand corrected! This was one of the most fabulous meals ever! The small portions have been corrected. The mushroom dish with dollops of blue cheese is exquisite, the scallop crudo perfect. The lamb, which was a special, was a perfect balance of flavors; it was one of the best dishes I have EVER eaten. Even the beers were well chosen to pair with food. Bravo!

Amazing! The best new restaurant Tampa has seen in a long, long time. Puts Edison, the Refinery and other hip cool new restaurants to bed! This place is so comfortable and inviting, the hospitality and the true love of food is so evident and pervasive, you cannot help but fall in love with it. You're missing out on something sublime if you pass up the opportunity to dine here - the food, the staff, the restaurant itself are all on par with the finest most innovative restaurants that can be found in major cities across the country, rivaling the best to be had between NY and SF! Many other detailed reviews written here are far more eloquent and articulate than I could ever hope to be. I can't add anymore to them. Other than to say this will become my new fav place and I will return again and again. Thank you guys for making our evening a spectacular dining experience! Well done!

If you want a glass of wine and a very small (albeit beautiful) bite to eat, this is your place. If you have any sort of appetite, skip it. The portions are laughable for the price you pay. You will need to grab dinner somewhere else upon leaving. Go to The Refinery or Anise Gastrobar downtown. Any of their appetizers are larger than an entree at the Rooster & the Till. This is not a go-to place for comfort food of any kind. The oysters, oh boy. I like big oysters. I like to drown my oysters in hot sauce and horse radish and serve 'em up on a saltine cracker. Not here. These are highfaluting, hipster oysters people. And they are the size of an egg. Am I missing something here? I love the ambiance and the decor. It is very similar to Cru Cellars in South Tampa. I really wanted to love the food here, but I just can't get excited about any of it. I'm sorry.

This was truly a fantastic dining experience. While not the cheapest, it was by far a wonderful gastronomic journey!

So I have to say its a slice of brooklyn in tampa. The waitstaff and decor are really what made me put a 4, but the food was more 3.5. The best dish we had was the gnocchi, which they do a french version of. The salmon crudo was beautiful, but the number of ingredients they tried to incorporate didnt really make the dish shine. We also got the rabbit dish with chicken liver, which was good but chicken liver taste dominated the dish. I would def go back and try new dishes purely because the experience and concept was great. I see a lot of potential in this place.

Farm to table meets fine dining. The chefs here are artists and masters at their craft. The portions are small but the flavors are exceptional. The wine pairings are excellent, and the micro brews are inspiring. Starters like the crudos and cheese platter will definitely awaken your palette. I highly recommend making reservations, this has become a favorite destination of many.

Rooster and The Till is an experience that can only be described in one word, and that's magic. Born and raised in Tampa it is hard to find restaurants that's nurture the foodie side of anyone. In the last few years less than a handful of joints have sprouted up, and I can confidently say that the Rooster and The Till will provide you a life changing meal. My husband and I started with the Oysters. They were cleaned to perfection and topped with a relish and jalapeno that complimented the oysters amazingly. We followed that with the charcuterie and cheese tasting slate, and until this meal I was sure that I did not like honey; however, the honeycomb and bleu cheese has forever changed my mind, and then steak loin small plate, mushroom and bacon small plate, and of course we had to try the pork belly, pickled apples, corn bread, and honey peppercorn small plate which will in fact make you "weep tears of joy". If that doesn't sound amazing enough the dessert to follow will surely do you in. We decided to order both, the chocolate flan with caramel and guava paste with little cheerio doughnuts and a chocolate ganache with gram-cracker crumbles, cherry compote and toasted marshmallow. I can whole- heartedly say that this was in fact one of the most phenomenal meals I have ever had the pleasure of eating.

Awesome, incredible dining experience! My boyfriend and I are major foodies and are used to having a variety of great restaurants in Chicago, so when he moved to Tampa we were disappointed to find most of our options were chain restaurants. After searching for some new places in the area, I found Rooster & The Till on Yelp and we were extremely impressed with the food and service here. Chef Farrell Alvarez was incredibly personable and described each dish to us himself while we watched him prepare them! Andrea was an incredibly attentive and cool server. This place made us feel like we were back in Chicago again! I highly recommend Rooster & The Till to anyone looking for a unique high end (but still friendly and personal) dining experience!!!

LOVE this place. It seems passion driven and has great selections. I keep going back for my favorite thing the cheese board with some beers. Each cheese has a scratch made partner like chutney, jam or a fresh honeycomb. Everything is so good that I blindly chose entrees I would normally avoid or modify and it has all exceeded my expectations.

I love everything about this restaurant. The vibe is great and the food is creative and delicious. The open kitchen makes dining at the counter a really fun experience. Loved it!

Yuck! The smell when you first walk in is disgusting. Pia, our server was very snobby and when I had a bad piece of fish, she certainly had an attitude about it. I did have one piece that was very good, but the other was very fishy. I asked her if I could have a piece that was fresh and she stated she did not want to take a chance to select something else. She was not very nice at all and way too snobby for me! Perhaps an apology would have been in order. If you look at the menu descriptions you want to run!!! Pigs ear, calves tongue, need I say more! It does not exactly get the juices flowing in a good way. Never again for me!

We came on a Friday night hoping we would get lucky and not have to wait too long. Unfortunately we were wrong and there was a hour wait but we decided it was totally worth it. As we waiting in a standing room full of people waiting to check this place out I actually got more and more excited. It probably would have been better to wait outside but it was cold and rainy outside so everyone was packed inside. While we waited the hostess checked on us many times and brought us drinks while we waited. This is not the place to go with a group ,there was 3 of us but they will not be able to accommodate a party over 4 people. My hope is that they remain popular enough to buy one of the businesses next door to increase their space. Also... I think it would be really nice if they had tinkle lights outside to bring more attention to the cozy restaurant since it is a little hard to spot from the street. Ok.. on to the good stuff. The restaurant is adorable, very cozy, modern and very warm. They used a lot of recycled good, such as, the wood on the walls and the lights at the bar... very cool! They do specialize in small plates and the entrees aren't big at all so don't come expecting to eat a massive meal. Despite the size of the meals I felt really satisfied and full, mostly, due to the richness of the food. We started with the Cheese Slate and some of the oysters on special. I don't like oysters but these were very good and didn't taste a bit fishy. The cheese slate was pretty good, the blue cheese and honeycomb was a unexpectedly decisions paring. From the small plates we tried the roast cauliflower (AWESOME), the smoked mushrooms (delicious) and the pork belly (very good but I liked the other stuff better). We also got the rabbit, goat pasta and duck (we were hungry don't judge lol). My hands down favorite thing I tried all night was the orcchitette braised goat. Seriously... it was AMAZING... so much so, I would have scraped the bowl with my finger to get every bit of the yummy sauce! I loved the lentils in the duck dish and the polenta with the rabbit was very good- I will stick with the goat as my #1 though. This place is pricey. We got a bottle of wine and all the dishes listed above for around $200 for 3 people. It was a great 'experience' type meal and very tasty. I loved the originality of each dish... it made me feel like I was eating food from top chef! Definitely a GREAT addition to the Tampa restaurant scene!

I have been back twice since my original review and it continues to amaze. They have fixed the ventilation issue completely. They have also added more seating. The food is simply top notch from beginning to end. Every time. I have tried things I swore I would never put in my mouth and each one becomes the best thing I've ever tasted. I LOVE THIS PLACE. DO NOT MISS IT.

Place is awesome, great good, great setup, you can sit at the bar and basically be in the kitchen, very exciting menu, really great flavors, great service, and the food came out quick. Duck had amazing flavors and the preparation on the oysters was unique and delicious. Great work! Keep it up!

Amazing food. Every, single dish we ordered was incredible. Service was timely. Super cute decor. Only negative was how tiny each dish was for the price. Love this place, but will save it for special occasions due to the prices.

We visited the "Rooster" last night. We heard it was a place for foodies like ourselves, and we were impressed. Location seems a bit strange on Florida Ave in a very marginal area....and the sign could use a upgrade, we drove by twice using our GPS. It's a small place, with a great communal type seating arrangement and we got great seats right in front of the chefs. I ordered a local craft beer "graffiti orange" and my girlfriend chose a glass of wine off the very thoughtful beverage list. The staff is incredible, helpful and friendly....and you will need to use them like culinary Sherpas as you navigate their extremely complex and Delicious menu. We were blown away by the cheese and meat sampler with aged pork jowl sliced thin like prosciutto, pâté, Irish cheddar, and the most incredible duck spread(tastes like gourmet duck bacon)that you will ever taste! I wish I had mastered all of the fancy names of these offerings, we will surely be back again for the "tasting" menu offered mon-Thursday and happily explained by the staff that understands how to take care of their guests. Shazam, this place is a winner...if you love food, and you want to be creative and try some upscale delightful dishes this is a must try restaurant! I predict this restaurant has a huge future if they continue with the great people that they have!!!! Thank you Rooster for a wonderful experience!

The presentation and unique dishes were amazing! The raw oysters had an amazing flavor with just a dollop of purée that was ten times better then the usual accompaniments. The dishes are small plates so you do have to order several to fill you up. The atmosphere was also unique--rustic farm decor dressed up.

This place is way over rated! I thought about giving them 1 star to offset the current biased reviews but 2 is much more accurate. We eat out quite a bit and are regulars at places like The Refinery, Edison, Side Bern's, Elevage, Pane Rustica, Mise en Place, CRU, etc. so we know good food and we are not gluttons. So, where to begin... Positives: The food is fresh and very well prepared, yet the servings are miniscule. The place is well designed, yet very small. The staff is extremely friendly. Negatives: The servings are ridiculous and the price is very high for what you get. We ordered a nice array of plates from their menu, approx 3 per person, and honestly were ready to go eat dinner afterwards at the Refinery. Overall Summary: This place needs to increase their food portions or lower their prices. Plates like cauliflower should have more than 3 little pieces on it. They say their food is for sharing. What are we supposed to share the crumbs? We spent $40 per person on food alone and all left hungry. As of now I would Rate this restaurant as Avoid.

This is the best dining experience we've had on this side of the bay. The menu is creative, expertly-executed and locally sourced. My wife and I sat at the "kitchen bar" and the chef and wait staff made us feel like regulars. Service was attentive without being intrusive. The food was so creative and delicious, we probably ordered too much food, but it's hard to say no to that menu. This is our new favorite!!! Please don't miss this one!

My new favorite place!! As my first time here I was thrown a lot of new plates I had never tried or even heard of before. The pork belly and the gnocchi with short ribs are INCREDIBLE!! Great wine list and provide local and craft beers. Small in size so call ahead for groups. Perfect for a date night. The owner, Ferrell, and his staff are extremely friendly, outgoing and helpful. The menu items change frequently so always new things to try! The menu items are similar to a tapas style so it's perfect for sharing or you can bring some friends to sample THE ENTIRE MENU for a very reasonable price. This place is unique and eccentric. It's exactly where you need to be at this very moment.

Another phenomenal meal at Rooster & the Till. We were just there a week ago, but we ran into Chef Brian Saturday during the day and he helped us snag a coveted last-minute Saturday evening reservation. When we arrived, Chef Brian greeted us warmly. Rather than ordering from the menu, we asked him to just whip up some of his favorites (their chef's tasting is on hold until the expansion is complete, so this was the next best option). His choices did not disappoint! This time we enjoyed the duck heart tartare again (last order available), a few oysters, mushroom dish with blue cheese and bone marrow emulsion, tomato salad with smoked yogurt (holy smokes was that yogurt good), pork belly and cornbread, beef braciolo and goat merguez, and dirty farro with pork jowls (sooo good) and chicken liver. And of course we had to get both desserts - the peach dish, which was phenomenal for the second week week, and the peanut butter captain crunch ice cream over chocolate chiffon cake and salted caramel. Everything was absolutely delicious and Chef Brian and crew treated us like family. And a $25 Napa cab? Can't beat it. My only complaint is that the wine glasses are really difficult for small-handed people to grip...I need to pick up my glass with two hands! Regardless, e couldn't have been happier with our meal and look forward to our return visit in 2 weeks.

This is one of those places with tiny portions (but you still feel full by the end). The food was great and they had such interesting combinations in their dishes. It is a bit pricey but definitely worth going.

The staff, the menu, the execution and the experience were all more than excellent. We were a party of 5 and were fortunate to be seated at the kitchen bar. I couldn't recommend that vantage more. The staff was knowledgable and interesting and were happy to be engaged in conversation. They are really proud of their product and rightly so. Couldn't be better.

Hands down tres magnifique! Everything about Rooster and Till was beyond what I expected. The interior was well thought out, it had this Americana antiquity feel, the old light bulbs and rustic furniture really set the mood for a fine culinary experience. We were seated immediately, there really was not a wait, but I can not promise that will be the case in the future, once the word gets out, I'm sure this place will be packed to the walls. Our server was outstanding; beyond friendly, courteous and very helpful. If you've read my previous reviews then you know service is a big thing on the menu for me, so the fact that they set the bar so high for hospitality was refreshing. The food was really the coup de grâce. Seminole Heights is quickly turning into the place where if you want a locally sourced meal, that is a small business, and of exemplary quality, it's where you go to find such diamonds. We started with the cauliflower that was light an airy, tinted with tones of a vinaigrette, offset by sweet white raisins. The counter-posturing of the flavors created a flavorful dish that was an excellent starter. We followed up with the pork belly and cornbread. I'm a huge fan of pork-belly, and this is by far some of the best prepared pork belly I have ever eaten. The meat was amazing in quality you could taste the fat, it was clean and juicy, and melted in your mouth. Coupled with the corn bread and drizzled with a syrup, it was a great play on a southern dish, that really made me want to eat an infinite amount of servings. The finishing plate was the duck, served on, from what I recall, a bed of lentils. Duck can go many ways, and it's personally one of my other favorite poultry dishes; the duck at Rooster and Till was served and prepared to perfection, and the bed of lentils added a excellent compliment in flavor. I honestly wished I would have taken notes during my meal, but I was there with my daughter, so this review is a bit impromptu, but the bottom line is that everything was superb from an experience point of view. Throughout the course of our meal we were able to meet the chef, and both owners. It was amazing they took the time to chat with us for a moment, and honestly I think this is where the line is set, that separates Rooster and Till from it's competitors. Everything is open, you see them preparing your meal, the chef is right there, he's not hidden behind a facade, he's is right there, making your food, grinding it out with his staff. I enjoyed this factor, the openness, the transparency into the culinary voyage.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! We went for my husbands birthday with his sister, a local. She was raving about Rooster the whole ride there and when we got there it was soon obvious why. The place is quaint but cleverly put together. The kitchen is open and almost everything comes off portable induction burners! Despite their challenges with space and other things; they cranked out the most amazing meal we've ever had. EVER. From start to finish everything was expertly crafted and finessed. The beer and wine selection was great also. The wait staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The chefs are top notch here, and if I was in the area you wouldn't be able to keep me away. We will definitely be returning. As far as what to order, you really can't go wrong, order anything. It will be fantastic.

Had high hope after reading all the yelp reviews, but walked out a little disappointed, and even more when I got home. Yes, the deco is very nice, and the waiting staff very friendly. But the food is, well, a little over rated, and over-priced. We had the charcuterie and cheese plate. The beef heart was pretty nice, but the pig cheek was a thud: looks like a piece of raw bacon, but flavorless. Others (e.g. chicken liver pate, various cheese) are ok, yet nothing worth writing home about. Portion is pretty small for a $23 combo. Pork belly is tasty, but way too much on the fatty side. One of the 4 slices was 75% fat. The corn bread is the star of that dish Brussel Sprouts is the best dish of the night, and I call that B+ grade, among gourmet restaurants. Gnocchi with short ribs: where is the meat? I felt like eating a few Captain Crunch covered with cheese sauce. I am being more than fair giving it a two star, considering I got home with food poisoning. I can not pin point to one particular dish that caused it, but only thing I ate and drank between 2p and 9:30p are from this restaurant. Refinery is a much better choice next time in this neighborhood.

This place is amazing! Hands down, the second best dining experience I have ever had in my entire life, only second next to Bull and Bear in Orlando. That's saying A LOT!!! I seriously can't wait to go back there! My husband and I tried the oysters on the half shell, pork belly, gnocchi short ribs, brussel sprouts, strip loin pastrami, and the pork jowl with corn pudding. For dessert we had the most amazing creation ever! Strange sounding but brilliantly executed was a Captain Crunch and milk ice cream over chocolate cake crumbles, drizzled with caramel, and sprinkled with caramel popcorn! AMAZING! I can't even pick a favorite because everything was very different but so very delicious. My husband is not a fan of brussel sprouts but he loved them here! I suggest trying the kitchen sink. After having a little bit of everything, we were regretful we didn't try the "Kitchen Sink". With the Kitchen Sink, you get to taste a little of everything on the menu. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for something new and stimulating. The place is very cozy so I recommend making reservations if you plan on bringing a large party.

Since original visit , we have been back 4 times. Every time has been wonderful. The really cool thing is that on our second visit they remembered us. Each visit the chef stops by and chats and so does our original waitress. The staff is great - we feel like family walking in to here. Not to mention, the food has been stellar each time.

I stopped in Rooster and the Till for a drink and light early dinner after looking at some furniture in Seminole Heights. It is a small, intimate so reservations are highly encouraged if you plan to visit during dinner hours. We split 4 plates and dessert between two of us. The plates are small but incredibly flavorful and unique so you get the opportunity to try a lot of the menu. If you have time, order the kitchen sink. You get a small plate of everything on the menu!

Hands-down one of the greatest places to eat in all of Tampa...if you have the chance go in, get a glass of wine, and order anything from the menu...you won't regret it!!!
