What a lovely place! I chose to have Chicken Strips and my two sides were veggies and yellow rice. The only downside was that I had to wait a few minutes, but I still want to give this restaurant five stars because the food tasted great meaning that my wait was 100% worth it. This restaurant is very comparable to the chain Pollo Tropical. Although this may be true, I'd head over to Plato Latino any day before Pollo Tropical. The meal tasted like it was homemade, which is always appreciated. Whatever this small restaurant is doing, they're doing it VERY right!

The food is good, service is great. Prices are way too high for what they offer. There are better places for less $. It's not that it's expensive. Just that you can get this same food for about 1/2 the price elsewhere. I'll still go here and support them. The yucca is the best I've ever had. But damn, $17 for one dinner and $12 for lunch is a lot for this type of food and service.

Craving a great Cuban sandwich we ate met a friend here. My husband and I had traditional Cubans and our friend had the Pork plate with two sides, this and two orders of plantains and two large coffe con leche we barely spent $20.00. The service was great the food was great just the variety of sides to have was the down fall. Everything else was great.

Every time I visit during the holidays, I try to stop by a small, local Cuban restaurant before I go back up north for school. At Plato Latino, I had a savory pork stew over yellow rice, with a side of platanos. Delicious, affordable, and highly recommended! The owner, Fernando, is a great guy: super friendly and seems to be friends with his regulars. I'll definitely be stopping by in my future visits to Tampa!

Excellent food, and a very friendly staff. Plato Latino has become a North Tampa fixture over the past few years by sticking to that formula, and it works. I highly recommend the Cubanito sandwich, and their Cuban has recently beat out contenders from much more established Columbus Ave. and East Tampa establishments in competitions. That isn't a surprise. It is a small, but nicely kept diner style establishment. Highly recommended.

They're known for that their cuban sandwiches but do have variety, anything from fish to pork. They do have beer too. Service is always a bit slow but everyone's nice. I recommend this place for the best Cubans.

I think an $ 8.51 lunch with either baked chicken & yellow rice, Cuban bananas or you can get the pork with onions was great. It's family owned . It's reasonable and very good ! I've eaten there many times and have never received a bad meal I recommend for it's family environment. Great place to go !! Try it !

Love this place, it's a casual Hispanic place with great family style food. I call it family style as I feel like I am eating at a Hispanic friend's house and their grandma is cooking. They have a bunch of fresh quick favorites in the steam table like roast pork and yellow rice or black beans and rice, but today I picked something I have had there before and loved, chicken fingers. I know crazy right? But it's the best and always fresh made. They make it like my grandma, fresh breaded and quick fried. That and a side of rice and nice big bowl of their amazing Spanish Bean soup/ garbanzo and I am in culinary heaven. This is my go to place for great comfort food. Cubans are pretty good here too. But I go there on the days when they have Spanish Bean soup and I would put theirs up against any of the good ones in Ybor City, yes it is that good, but sadly not on the menu every day. Call ahead, I do. Try it and they got ya!

I've lived in Tampa my whole life and am very aware of our reputation for Cuban and "Latin" food. When this place opened in Lutz, I was skeptical, but the food is consistently great. Really good Cuban sandwich and my daughter loves the fish sandwich. We tried the caldo gallego (my father is Gallego) and it was quite good. It's a great neighborhood place. Staff have always been friendly and prompt. Great stop for lunch or to take out for dinner.

Discovered this place on my way to DD for a coolata. Unfortunately on my first go round they were closed. So I decided to get there a bit early. I ordered the picadillo, one of their specialties that change daily, with yellow rice and maduros (sweet plantains). For dessert- FLAN! I've had this dish at several other places often with it being too sweet. Everything about this dish was pleasing to my most important senses. It made me wish I had more when I was done with my plate. Next time I go back I think I will try the empanadas. The environment was quaint with chairs and tables set up for eating in. There was no one there when I went in so the environment might be different during the day.

I guess Im spoiled I like good spanish food, fresh rice and beans and more then 3 or 4 plantains with an order. But you are eating at Bearss and Florida Ave. Take a trip over to Columbus and have good food. I have given this place many chances. Everytime I have brought people and we look at each other in disgust. They are not cheap either almost 12 bucks for crap. The roast pork is awful and portions small. Stay clear and very unfriendly. Again been there 8 times, never again.

I went there once and NEVER again. This is not authentic Spanish food. The rice tasted like Minute Rice. Not impressed at all.

Good for takeout...the seasonings are toned down for the average American taste. Portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The hot bar changes daily, call ahead to make sure they have what you want that day.

Really quite good if you want a home cooked hot lunch in a hurry. Meatballs were very good as was the yellow rice and the corn with onions and ham. Black bean soup also quite good. Only negative is limited menu but selection they had all looked great.
