found them on Yelp to meet some friends for dinner. We had never been, but our dinner companions confirmed our choice. Dinner was excellent, and the menu quite varied. Prices were reasonable, and wine selection was good. Definitely looking forward to going back.

Meh. It's cozy, and it's in one of the more attractive strip malls in the area, but that's about it. Sooo, lunch. The She-Crab Bisque was tasty but SO over-salted. Salads are pretty expensive for canned ingredients on romaine with a topping of fish or chicken ($12-15). Sandwiches had big portions but were also pretty salty. Service was incredibly slow--emptied appetizer plates sat on the table crusting over well after the main food was brought out, and I could probably find more water refills in the desert. It was okay, but I wasn't really impressed & can't really see myself going back. Maybe dinner is better?

I was traveling for work and my coworker and I needed somewhere to go after attending Ash Wednesday Mass. I selected here based on prior yelp reviews and we were not disappointed, I had the Onion Soup and Caeser Salad, my co worker had the Tuna. My soup was great with a good balance of onions, broth and the bread cheese topping. The Salad was atypical, nothing outstandin the Caeser dressing if anything beling a bit bland. and the warm fresh bread they served with garlic butter was enough to make me want to go back for more. My co worker said his Tuna was cooked perfectly (Rare) and had excellent flavor. If I lived in the area I would certainly go back. The staff were all very friendly and the owner/chef came out to make sure everything was to our liking. We shared a piece of key lime pie and it was the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The interior could use a little bit of an uplift but aside from that, a great dining experience.

Michael's is one of my favorite casual restaurants in the city. I truly can't emphasize enough how consistently DELICIOUS and fresh their food is. Only enjoyed lunch here, but I'd eat there any time of day. Almost always I will get a salad with blackened salmon- because its so damn good I never want to try anything else. The seafood is excellent, as well as the soups and quiche. All are full of flavor and taste like from-scratch goodness. The staff obviously takes pride in what they do. The service is always excellent and the kitchen staff always looks professional and hard working. Eat here!! You wont regret it :)

The waitress was very informative and just knew her stuff, and looked very young and it amazed me. It's a very popular spot for a business lunch, and it looked like we weren't the only ones that were there for buiiness. I started out with the lobster bisque and it was nice and creamy and pretty good. The catch of the day is usually always grouper, and I did have it in my salad. Florida and seafood, and if it's their specialty - you have to try it out! It's nice for a light lunch.

Cozy and nice. The steak special the night I went was great but my pasta dish lacked flavor.

I discovered Michael's after the wait at Mimi's Cafe was way too long. We weren't sure if they served breakfast, but upon looking on Yelp, we were happy to see that they did. What an AMAZING breakfast we had! The best part were the banana nut fritters for an appetizer! They were delicious, as was the breakfast- fresh eggs, bacon, homefries, biscuits, freshly squeeze OJ. They also offer eggs benedict, omelettes and more. Skip Mimi's, and give Michael's a try!

Very tasty sandwiches, and huge salads with fresh ingredients. Tried their mango iced tea and that was also delicious They split things for you! It is still a little pricey, though their portions are more than enough for one serving.

This is a great French inspired grill that will satisfy your most complex taste bud. Been coming here for years, and have always enjoyed it. I always sit outside, no matter the weather and come mainly for lunch and Sunday brunch. Brunch is what this review is about. The usual bread loaf came out with the flavored butter. Hot! Woofed it down. Ordered the Eggs Bennie with house potatoes. Another in my party the Western Omelet with fruit. Coffee for everybody! The Eggs Bennie came out perfectly runny and very tasty. The omelet was great. The potatoes sauteed just so. Everything was fantastic. I have had almost everything on the menu. the fish is fresh. All they cook is fresh and I think that is what makes the difference here. There are no tricks or foolery here, just good, honest, tasty food. Try the she crab bisque. Come here. You will really enjoy it.

I have to say that it seems like Michael's has gone downhill a tad from the first few times I went a couple of years ago. The prices sometimes seem a bit steep for this economy and what you are getting. But I do like the brunch and occasional deals you can get via e-mail. Service is decent - not excellent but not poor.

What an awesome brunch experience! My family of four (2 adults, 2 children) ate here today for Sunday brunch based on the reviews we read. The food was excellence and the service was tremendous! What a shock to the system to receive service where the chef actually comes to your table and the wait staff ends every trip with "my pleasure" or "thank you". Will definitely eat her again and refer friends!

Not impressed by the food or service. Visited them for brunch about month ago and will not be back. Overpriced mimosas ($7 each for a small champagne flute is ridiculous) and the food was just average. My husband and I left because we felt very uncomfortable after the table next to us ordered salad, which they were out of lettuce, then french toast, which they were out of syrup, and a couple of other items I can't recall. Oh, and no table visit by a manager!! I can't believe this place is still in business. Our bill was $50 for 4 small mimosas, an egg & cheese bagel, and an omlet! What a ripoff!!!

Nice, quaint, little place with good food and great service. The seafood omelet was tasty but a little over-priced. The Bloody Mary was OK, nothing to write home about. The rest of my party enjoyed their food as well along with their mimosas. Our server was very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend it (just not the Bloody Mary).

This place is busy at lunch, not so much at dinner. But the food is always great and the service is reliable and good, too. And, the wine shop next door is the perfect place to stop after dinner!

Another of my favorite restaurants. They have a great wine selection. We have had large groups and small groups for dinner here and it was great every time. Lunch is always great as well. This is great for date night and/or girls night out. I love the red white and you pasta.

This place is small and sort of quiet, but charming. Very good food with fresh ingredients. The fried brie was so yummy! And the salmon, as my entree, was great! It came with cranberries, a marinara like sauce, and cashews. Awesome chefs. I think they change the menu every once in a while too. Can't wait to come back and try the new stuff.

Really had forgotten this little hidden gen and recently returned to meet some friends. I immediately remembered why I liked this place so much. Besides being warm & inviting it is not overbearing. The casual ambiance, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the she crab bisque and strawberry fields salad. The soup has a real depth of flavor and is full of crab. The salad is a beautiful mix of greens with strawberries in a balsamic tart, yet well rounded dressing. Overall a very pleasant and tasty meal. I will remember it and return soon. What's a girl to do? So many restaurants, so little time.

My wife and I had dinner here last night. I must say that the food was very good. I had the steak au poivre and my wife had the stuffed grouper. Again, the food was excellent --the portions, not so much. The crab bisque was very tasty and quite filling. The crab cakes were also delicious. The menu is quite limited; however, with good choices. The only thing that I really couldn't stand about this place is their attitude towards my wife and I. I guess this place is just not for people of "our kind". We will probably not return because we sensed the "you don't belong here" in the atmosphere but we may just return to see if we were wrong.

Headed out to the nearest four star national seafood chain restaurant without reservations on a Friday night - duh, it was an unplanned outing - didn't want to wait 45 minutes so I used my What's Nearby Yelp app - found this neighborhood gem. Dad and I were greeted and sat almost immediately upon walking in the door. Our server, Carli, promptly greeted us, took our drink orders and answered my menu suggestion questions. The menu is 1 page, a nice change from the multi-page books you must read elsewhere. Glad I broke my bread fast because their garlic butter was just right. The Wasabi Crusted Tuna served rare with rice and mixed vegetables was great. Dad loved the crab cake appetizer. Carli was a great server with a warm smile and happy mood. We definitely will be back.

Last Tuesday a friend and I wanted to try some where new so we choose Michael's it was an amazing choice! We had great service from Brooke followed by delicious sangria. ( I am a little picky with my sangria and I would say it is in my top 3) We shared fried Brie it was so cheesy and melt in your mouth good! For our main course I choose the grilled chicken Greek salad and she had a salmon caesar. Yummy! I am so glad we decided this place, can't wait to come back!

Prices are reasonable and the food is very tasty. Michaels has been around for a while along a section that sees restaurants come and go quite frequently (including Mimi's in front of the restaurant). I'm hoping more find this somewhat hidden place so that we can all keep enjoying professionally prepared food in a nice environment. Or, you could always opt for the Applebee's close by prepared by...well, I'm off to Michaels.

Horrible date night experience. After looking forward to a night out at Michael's, we were extremely disappointed. I ordered the special of the evening. Twin filets with the "chef's choice" garlic mashed potatoes. The potatoes were reheated day or more old mashed potatoes. Anyone who has ever tried to refrigerate mashed potatoes and reheats knows it is awful. They were dry and crumbled all over the plate. The filets were over-cooked with not a trace of pink and also tasted like they had been frozen. Very disappointing for a restaurant with great reviews and claims fresh food. Very sad to see Michael's is cutting food costs. We will definitely not be back!

Great cozy hidden gem. Menu is always changing and interesting with a range of seafood, beef, pork or fish selections. Check out the crab cakes and she-crab soup. Both are always great choices. It's a quiet place with indoor or outdoor seating. Obviously they have a steady local following as folks were greeted like family by name. Give it a try.

Service and food were good. Limited wine selection. But a robust menu. I had the wasabi crested tuna and it was fantastic. I also would recommend the she crab bisque.

Absolutely a winner in my book. I most likely wouldnt have chose this place on my own, so what a delight to be taken here for dinner by my boyfriend's grandfather. Its a somewhat small, intimate restaurant. It was a nice atmosphere, very quiet and relaxed. Our server was attentive and made a great suggestion for an appetizer...the bubble bread! Seriously, i dont think its possible for anyone not to love it. My entree was the "bobby flay" 4oz filet...it was buttery and cooked like i requested - medium rare. I liked the crispy onion strings that came along with it, too. The only con is the southwest sauce, definitely not for everyone and although i liked it, its not what i would first pick to go with my filet mignon. This place is really nothing that I expected and I left more than satisfied, I'll be coming back for more visits for sure.

I was disappointed by the service as well as the food but I have heard great things about this place so I will give it another shot. They were also probably between shifts and doing side work so perhaps there were mitigating circumstances. The good: the she crab soup was delicious, the fried zucchini was good and the New Orleans BBQ shrimp was tasty but not traditional - almost like a gumbo type sauce. The bad: we ordered drinks and waited 15 minutes for server to come back with the drinks (we were 2 of 6 people in the place) - when I got the drink there was lipstick on the glass - no big deal but she poured the old one into a new glass and that glass was also lipsticked - waited 15 minutes to see her again and she again poured into a new glass. Why not inspect the glass and make a fresh one if you miss something? Entree: The broccoli was brown and the filet had a big strip of hard fat down the middle and the carrots were extremely soft and flavorless. Overall it was indicative of a lack of attention to detail and all the issues were avoidable if the chef and the server would have looked at the product and asked "is this worthy of a hundred dollar meal?"

I can't say enough great things about Michael's. It's a small little French bistro tucked behind Mimi's Cafe off Dale Mabry. The she-crab bisque and crab cake appetizer make the perfect lunch for seafood lovers. Full menu with brunch items, salads, sandwiches, and innovative dinner items - including small plate choices. Nothing pretentious, just simple delicious food. Great little neighborhood find!

This is a very good restaurant. My family and I were visiting Tampa for the evening and decided to try this gem. It was well worth it. My family can be very picky and hard to please but this place got great reviews. The service was excellent and so was the food. Will definitely go back when I'm in the Tampa area.

This is our favorite brunch spot in Tampa. I'm from the South, and Chef makes grits so creamy that they remind me of home. I always get the traditional breakfast with bacon, biscuit, and obviously the grits. Everything is made from scratch. George gets the She Crab Bisque as an appetizer, and then always chooses one of the omelets. We are stuffed by the end of the meal, and ruined for the day...so worth it. Oh, I almost forgot. The Bloody Mary's are to die for, eat outside on the porch if possible, and ask for Rachel. She's the best in town.

Sunday brunch here is awesome! Their sicilian omlette is now the only way I eat an omlette! Ricotta cheese and italian sausage...I always add onions to mine, delicious! Lately they have had some mimosa specials which is great. A must try. Dinneris consistent, albeit a bit overpriced it is good to see nonchain restaurants being innovative and delicious!

I stumbled upon this place by making a wring turn. I was looking for somewhere new to eat and im so glad i found it. The dining is subdued and comfortable, you can tell this is one of those places that people love but dont want to tell everyone about lest they spoil the atmosphere. The bread was fresh and warm the service was excellent. I had the french onion soup, a dish that has so many ways to make it. It was pretty good, a little too much cheese for my taste but good non the less. The mail course was recommended to me by the waitress and it didn't disappoint. The crusted tuna was the highlight of my meal. Excellent I will defiantly be back

Nice charming French bistro. Very nice staff, great service and the food is good. I particularly enjoyed the escargot appetizer. Salmon Rockefeller was delicious and the burgers are excellent. Desert was chocolate moose, rich and delicious. In all we had an enjoyable meal.

This was a terrible experience. It was our anniversary, and I made a reservation through Open Table and received a confirmation. We dressed and when we arrived we were told a group had reserved the entire restaurant, and if we wanted to eat it had to be outside, on a cool and foggy night, which we obviously didn't want. I stated I had a reservation, and when they looked, they said "oh, you do, but we thought we had turned Open Table off for tonight". They apologized, but it didn't help our anniversary dinner, and we ended up going to a different restaurant. I consider this to be terrible service, and would not recommend this restaurant. For $85 this was really a terrible experience. Out of the 4 dishes we ordered, 3 were wrong. And not just a little wrong, completely wrong. My mother in law is allergic to eggs. She ordered the burger and asked them to leave off the egg because she's extremely allergic. We said it 2x. Her burger came out with a fried egg on it. She said she wanted it well done, it was medium rare. I ordered the St. Bart's POACHED eggs. It came out with SCRAMBLED eggs on top. My daughter ordered the kids meal with pancakes and scrambled eggs. This meal came with a drink. She got French toast and NO egg. AND the server charged us an extra $3.50 for her orange juice!!! That's just the issues with the ordering. There was no manager apology, and the waitress said she normally works the night shift which is why she got everything wrong. Ok so let's talk about the food. The poached egg was barely cooked- the yellow is supposed to be soft and runny, but the whites are supposed to be cooked. Instead I was eating a cold runny egg, and I could even send it back because my husband was already done eating since his order was the only one they did right. The croissant was soaked completely through so it was a mess. The hash browns were cold, so clearly they just used my original plate. My biscuit was heavy and floury. Yuck. My daughter said IHOPs pancakes tasted better. And I have to agree. These pancakes were not fluffy at all. They tasted like they were made with wheat flour. And the scrambled egg looked like it was made with powdered egg. The dad's steak special tasted good but it was a total rip off at $24. The steak portion was tiny. For that price, we would rather go to Ruth Chris and get a real steak. Overall, it was a very disappointing Father's Day brunch.

Oh, Michael's...it's been a good 4 years since my last visit and I was so sadly disappointed. For years, Michael's was our go-to "finer-dining" restaurant in Carrollwood. We moved out of town for a couple of years, and have been meaning to visit again since moving back We were very early to a movie, so we popped into Michaels for some appetizers. We were seated immediately, but it was a good 8 minutes before the manager noticed we still hadn't been greeted by our server. The appetizer plates on our table were dirty--not spotty, but literally filled with giant crumbs and leftover food as if they just put a clean plate over a stack of dirty plates. We were finally brought drinks (my son ordered sprite, but was brought seltzer or tonic water) and they kept pushing the "$3 apple fritters"--you'd think after the long wait to get our drinks, the dirty plates and bringing the wrong drink they'd have just brought us the $3 fritters as a peace offering. (I say the $3 fritters because she kept telling us what a deal they were at that price.) When our food arrived, it was as good as I remembered, but the off service left me longing for the Michael's of old. I'll definitely give it another chance and update my review accordingly, but this recent experience left a lot to be desired, and that makes me sad because it was one of my favorite places for so long.
Found this place off of Yelp. This is a quant little restaurant. The staff is very friendly. You see the chefs preparing your food. Everything is made to order so except to wait. But you won't be disappointed!

The food was great! We went for breakfast. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. It can be a place you come on a date or with your kids. The staff was extremely attentive and I was able to get a mimosa.

This is our favorite place to brunch in north Tampa. The food is amazing, and they have a nice little patio area outside. Weather permitting, we always sit out there; the restaurant is a bit too loud inside. I highly recommend the eggs Benedict, they're perfect every time and the hollandaise is made from scratch.

Ok. Service and atmosphere were good for a Sunday brunch. Not a long wait. Had a bloody Mary and Greek chicken salad. Salad was adequate, nothing spectacular. Chicken was tasty but excessive dressing. Price was ok @ $13. What turned me off the most was the bloody mary. Tall thin glass full of ice, so little actual drink. 1 measly olive for accompaniment. Bland flavor. $10. Very underwhelming. Turned me off from returning. Receipt 3/30027. Taylor was the server, did a great job.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Tampa. The food is always fresh and flavorful. This is the kind of place where you can get a delicious meal that is light and doesn't make you feel disgusting afterward. They are constantly creating new dishes. All of their fish is fresh and they have different specials every night depending on what is in season or the "catch of the day." I usually try their specials since they have always impressed me. They have a fabulous selection of wine (I think they get it from the awesome wine shop next door). Best part....they usually have deals for 2 people. You can get two meals, an appetizer, and a bottle of wine for around $35-50 when they are running these specials. Oh, and you can enjoy your meal on their relaxing outdoor patio! I love this place because I am always impressed by their food without spending a fortune. The prices are completely reasonable. I wholeheartedly recommend Michael's. You won't be disappointed.

Small and quiet restaurant. Great place to dine if you're not in a rush and want to relax and enjoy the evening. We had the crab bisque and it was just ok in my opinion. We also shared an appetizer...together we had just the right amount of food. Good service. No complaints.

The crab bisque is amazing (looks like a tiny bowl, but quite rich and filling)! :) I've ordered that both times I went there, so I can't really vouch for the other foods I have had (except I sampled some of the food from the people I've eaten with, but the soup still was the most memorable for me). They are a little pricy, so if you sign up for their e-mails they occasionally send coupons!

Ok, so I found this place using Yelp. I was in town on business and my hotel was only a couple of miles away. After reading the excellent reviews, I decided to give it a try by myself. Here are my thoughts..... Service - Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. I was greeted by the host and seated immediately. My waitress was on top of things and the food came out on time an fresh. Food - I had the Tomato & Feta Bruschetta w/Baked Tortilla for an appetizer....it was awesome! I highly recommend it. The bread was fresh and delicious. For an entree, I had the cheeseburger....I would have tried something else, but I really wanted to try the bruschetta appetizer and I didn't think I could eat that and an entree by myself. The burger was excellent....just the right size, not too large and not too small. The fries were steak-cut fries and cooked perfectly....not too hard/soft. Atmosphere - I was here in the Spring time and the weather was awesome....so I ate outside on the patio. I'm glad I did....it was very relaxing. Wine - The wine selection was decent....not great, but decent. I had a glass of the Malbec....don't remember what the vineyard was though. While I was dining....there were no more than 5 tables occupied in the joint. I heard that lunch and brunch are much busier. So, I guess if you want to enjoy the place and have a nice, relaxing time.....go at dinner. Will I return? If I'm in the area.....For Sure!

My friend and I decided to grab a bite to eat after a long day of apartment hunting and she told me about this little place she discovered off of North Dale Mabry behind Mimi's Cafe. I always love trying out new places, but always with a little hesitation and skepticism. Sometimes its easier to go to your favorite place and get the usual, but how will I ever get a favorite place if I never try new ones!? Anyhow, I ordered the avocado chicken salad that was drizzled with cilantro ranch and my friend ordered a Greek salad crumbled with feta cheese drizzled with balsamic dressing (I uploaded a picture of both). I paired it mine with a Chardonnay and my friend paired her salad with their special $5 dollar wine spritzer, I believe it was flavored peach or something fruity. To get to the point it was delicious. One of the top 3 salads I've ever had. The Greek salad was very tasty as well. The only reason why I am giving it a 4 out of 5 stars is because the waitress wasn't that personable and seemed robotic. I also think that it was a bit pricey. I spent around $50 between two people. I suggest you go there if you feel like splurging a bit. If it were based on the food alone and not the experience I would give it 5 stars.

Excellent crab cakes and she-crab bisque. Very friendly staff. We look forward to becoming regulars.

(4)Tim M.

Great steak!, nice little cosy atmosphere. The service is polite and unobtrusive so that we could really enjoy our course without being asked how things are with a mouth full of food.
(4)Melissa C.
What a gem to stumble on !!! Small seating area inside, but ample outdoor ! Food was really good. Had the seafood risotto and my husband had the steak Diane. Both cooked to perfection, no complaints here ! Would definitely return !

Experience was not a delightful one. Usually you pay for what you get in this case that is very untrue. I will not return!

(5)Cathy B.

First time dining at Michaels. It was a great experience. Food was exceptional. Wine was excellent. We also tried their signature dessert, sticky pudding which was outstanding. Fantastic service as well. We will be back. What a great find.

Well we came here because Yelp listed it in the best seafood search engine. What a misleading search result. They have only 4 fish choices. We had Duck and Chicken instead. Appetizer of stuffed mushrooms was disappointingly bland bread stuffing. The Duck was a rubbery half breast with a tasty blackberry sauce. But way too much pepper seasoning as was the half mashed potatoes: wild rice would be a better pairing. The broccoli and carrot side was the best part. Chicken dish was ok. The chocolate creme brûlée was exceptional good, highly recommend. The atmosphere is nice, a little shabby but not offensive. Service was friendly and attentive. We had one glass of wine and an $80 bill seemed high for the quality.

Found this place off of Yelp. This is a quant little restaurant. The staff is very friendly. You see the chefs preparing your food. Everything is made to order so except to wait. But you won't be disappointed!
(4)Toni D.
The food was great! We went for breakfast. Prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. It can be a place you come on a date or with your kids. The staff was extremely attentive and I was able to get a mimosa.
(5)Casey S.
(4)Justin T.

My husband and I had dinner at Michaels and loved everything! The restaurant is quiet and cozy nice for date night or to relax. We ordered salmon and a shrimp pasta for dinner and my husband is still raving over how good the salmon was! So we will be going back for sure :)
(5)Mike R.
Small and quiet restaurant. Great place to dine if you're not in a rush and want to relax and enjoy the evening. We had the crab bisque and it was just ok in my opinion. We also shared an appetizer...together we had just the right amount of food. Good service. No complaints.
(4)Melinda F.
