Mama's kitchen is AMAZING. Quaint little diner, with great food, and great service. Their portions are hearty, prices perfect. They always have breakfast and dinner specials, so you can try something different every time. I love their pancakes and pies! You must take a slice home. You can even call in your order for pickup.

How on earth is this place number 2? Food is very bland. I had the biscuit and gravy with hash browns. The biscuit was NOT fresh and hard as a rock. The gravy obviously came out of a can and the hash browns tasted like the freezer. My husband had the omlette which he said was very tasty with the home fries. The home fries were tasteless, not even the hot sauce helped. The only possible way this place is number 2 is because there is no other resturants around. Very disappointed!!

Stopped in for breakfast while my nephews were visiting. The staff was very nice and service was fast. They offer traditional breakfast options with large portions and good prices. My nephews had chocolate chip pancakes (special of the day), a Greek omelet and the 2 egg special. Everything was delicious, we even shared a pancake which was nice and fluffy. Coffee was nicely refilled without asking, yay! The restaurant has a nice home feeling. I will definitely be stopping by again soon!

Great cheap eats in S. Tampa. If you're in the market for no frills diner food, as I was, this'll do the job

A contractor highly recommended this place and decided to take him on his offer to go there for lunch. This quaint place felt like a regular diner owned by a mom and pop outfit. Apparently there are 3 locations, one in Seminole, one outside MacDill AFB and not sure of the last location. The chicken pot pie was supposedly awesome and huge for $8 as seen on the picture. It was a lasagna type dish with the crust overflowing above it. The lamb shank for $9.99 was the cheapest I have ever seen and it fell off the bone. The gravy it was smothered in united the flavors in perfect harmony. On a bed of rice and mixed vegetables, I felt like I was eating a healthy meal, but as we all know, gravy is never healthy.I caught myself picking up the bone and chewing/gnawing on all the available meat... like a savage beast, but I couldn't put it down... Oh so yummy. They didn't have sweet tea, but the lemonade/ tea combo, per the waitress's suggestion was worth it. I wont say this is the cleanest place, but I think I found the place for hearty lunch close to work and affordable.

Went here with some friends after a day filled with drinking. The corned beef hash is perfect, not too salty and just the right amount of hangover cure. If you have a sweet tooth in the morning they have great french toast. If they had fresh squeezed OJ they would be at 5 stars. Overall the experience was great good service, not a long wait, and delicious food. I would definitely recommend this spot to a friend for a good wholesome breakfast.

We were in the area looking for the highest yelp ratings. We were led to Mama's Kitchen!! Great place for food and friendly people. We ordered the original omelette and hash browns. Kids ordered pancakes. Coffee was made. All the food was eaten. I was waiting for a kicker to give this place 4-5 stars but it never came. Maybe if l had ordered hot sauce it would have bumped it up. The decor of lions, Eagles, and Bin Laudin was entertaining.

Delicious home style breakfast. I loved the Greek omelette and French toast! Service was fast and my coffee was always hot.

Drove here by chance looking for breakfast . Highly recommend Mamas. traditional American breakfast, real food, good portions. eggs, meat, breakfast potatoes, toast all for about $6 Great food, great service, great price. Will return

I woke up one morning and wanted a biscuit with a fried egg, cheese and bacon and looked it up on Yelp. This place is exactly what the other reviews have said! Mom and Pop feel, affordable, delicious food! The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars because I've only been once. I will definitely come back again.

Cozy, family restaurant. Service was good but food was just okay. Nothing totally memorable in my opinion.
(3)David J.
The quality, flavor, and service were right on the mark. My first visit and I am a long time soul food lover. I opted for today's special fish and grits with a side of collared greens. Everything came out hot and fresh. I think I would have preferred the fish fried but ordered it grilled. A very good meal and I will return. The fish and grits could have gone a bit more low country with some cheers and hot pepper in the grits, but that's just a great dish this very good one reminded me to recall.

Ive been going to this place since I was kid and their menu is still the same the food however has changed its not cooked with the same love I remember

A decent small mom and pops diner with parking plenty of seating inside of the restaurant. They have different cold drinks, coffee, milk, unsweet tea. Many different kinds of food you can order off the menu. Also they do allow smoking right outside of the door just in case you want to grab a quick smoke if you are non smoker keep in mind when someone comes in and out of the door you can smell the heavy smoke from customers smoking outside. I had the white clam chowder which was delicious some what warm but manageable abled to eat it down with some crackers and sipping on some Pepsi! When my parents got there it was busy from the people coming from the AFB and other places. Only draw back becareful about using the sugar container for coffee or something else I saw a customer eating out of the sugar container and throwing a dirty napkin in the container which was really nasty and the lady waitress just took the napkin out and didn't pick up the container to take it to the back to wash it. This is my families first time here to this place we liked it since it was very close to the AFB. Keep in mind it's close to the base, Subway and some other businesses next to here.

I love breakfast food and I'm so glad I was not disappointed here. I ordered the French toast with eggs and bacon. The French toast was delicious and perfectly cooked. Decent prices for an awesome breakfast. Now the only downside of eating here, it is tiny inside. There isn't a lot of seating. If you come during the weekend your most likely looking at waiting for a table. The bathroom is also outside of the restaurant. Definitely would come back for some homemade breakfast.

Second time at Mama's, great breakfast! Coffee and homemade treats. Awesome! Great service!

Went to this place because the reviews said it was a mom and pop greasy spoon kind of diner and my husband loves breakfast any time of day. It was 4 pm and the menu said breakfast any time but the waitress said they couldn't make biscuits, sausage gravy or grits after 1130. That knocked the chicken fried steak out of the running unless we wanted brown gravy...and that's just wrong. The waitress was very nice and the clam chowder and chicken noodle soup were good. The first danger sign was how fast the food came out. Chef mike was working overtime in the kitchen, meaning my husband saw the cook and waitress nuking everything in the microwave. We had the fried clam strips dinner for an appetizer... The tartar sauce was good, the fries were hot but needed tons of salt and the clams were overbreaded and bland. The 2nd warning sign was the many ppl over 60 coming in. A sure sign of bland food. My gyro was Steak Umm with a decent tzaziki and my husband had Salisbury steak (read a chunk of overcooked hamburger) and dry stale powdered mashed potatoes all covered with a disturbing watery tomato sauce with limp onions, carrots and celery. Bottom line is nothing homemade, everything heated and reheated until its coagulated with NO seasoning. I like a good cheap diner with simple, good homecooking. This isn't one.

My Favorite Sunday morning hangover cure! Everything is so yummy from the omelets to the waffles and the staff is so sweet.
(5)Aaron B.
Great mom and pop spot! Felt comfortable immediately after entering. The staff were cordial and attentive. The meals were very reasonably priced and delicious. Get the steak skillet with a side of French toast if 2 of you want to leave stuffed and satisfied. I'd go there all the time if I lived here. Special thanks to Valor for taking care of us!
(4)Nikki D.
Favorite place for biscuits ever. Always get egg and cheese with extra cheese. :) family owned and very VERY good.
(5)Allie L.
Delicious breakfast! I really enjoy the Greek omelette and the corned beef and hash. Hash browns are the best! Great service and prices, definitely recommend.
(5)Lea K.
The food was amazing. The menu offered iconic southern soul food dishes. The portions were large. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They offer a mil discount too.
(5)Bibi A.
this was a good little spot. I had the mushroom omelette, which is just mushroom so i had them add cheese, peppers, and onions. I was initially upset when i noticed it was yellow american cheese- but i also did not specify. Anyhow it was a good omelet. I also was craving a waffle- but their waffle machine was down so the girl suggested their french toast! the french toast was awesome! I figured i would have half of it and ended up eating the whole thing! OMG! the service was fast, my server was friendly. Over all nice little spot. I don't eat out often but when i do i mostly stick to breakfast foods (love omelets), i would go back here!
(4)Heather T.
We found this place by searching yelp and it definitely is a good place to eat. We come here for breakfast all the time. We either eat in or get it to go. They always have specials. We've been here for dinner once and it was delicious! I got stuffed tilapia with crab meat and it was amazing! And only $10.50! The food always comes quickly so you're never waiting long for your food which is great when you go in there starving! It's decent pricing. Also, nothing too crazy here with the menus so Iif you're looking for a good home cooked meal This is definitely the place to go. All around its a good place! Definitely check it out!

We love this place. We went for Mothers Day for our first visit, and it was packed! The owner/host got us a table quickly. This is a Greek family owned business, and the food is delicious. We have gone back several times since, for breakfast only. The French toast is something I LITERALLY dream about!! We are going tomorrow for breakfast....
(5)Sydney H.
Great place for breakfast! I had the waffle, which was fluffy and perfect, and home fries which were nice and smashed and crunchy. Friendly waitstaff. Will definitely be back!
(5)Melissa M.
Went for breakfast twice, once with daughter and once with a friend...both times it was delicious food and wonderful service. Will definitely go back, it's now one of our weekend breakfast/brunch go-to places!
(5)Robert S.
What better than corn beef hash and eggs in the wee hours of 6 in the morning. The coffee and meal were very good.
(3)Carrie D.
This place makes great corned beef hash. All the regular breakfast fare. The only thing about this place that isn't great is the seating-it's much too small. Good luck on the weekends. Unless your in a booth you will be eating with strangers because the tables are so close together. If they expanded this place it wouldn't lose the charm it would be a good thing.
(4)Robert S.
Breakfast and lunch are great! It's good to go at off peak times because it's so popular you'll have to wait a while for a table. Definitely worth it though!
(4)Aaron M.
From the call-in to the final delivered product-- just not good. What is everyone talking about? The host was short and unfriendly on the phone and in person... The food we ordered was a steak sandwich and I had a club... The sandwich itself was fine.. Nothing great.. nothing bad... But you can instantly tell everything was all processed and/or ordered fresh out of Sycso.. The fries had no flavor and 0 salt.. and were just taken out of a freezer bag and dropped in.. I ate one. The togo ketchup they gave us must have been 5 years old or more.. How did I know? It came out black! The coleslaw they served was awful.. It was just tainted and not good. That being said, my friend said the steak sandwich was ok. Eating inside reminded me of 1950's drab lifeless and boring food. My mistake.
(1)Bonita B.
Friendly staff, home-style/homey feel setup, and the food is tasty.
(5)Erin R.
Great local place. Doesn't look like much from the road but the servers are friendly and attentive and the food portions are generous. Only things I found lacking were the hash browns were cold and the orange juice was canned concentrate (personal preference here so not necessarily a negative). We both got the mama'a special and had more than enough food (French toast was especially good). If you want upscale healthy, this is not your place. But if you want a place where the servers know you by name and a good home cooked breakfast, come on by. This will be part of our Sunday routine from now on.
(4)Dylan K.
Good place. The restaurant is clean. Service was excellent; one waitstaff was handling several tables as well as politely inviting through the door newbies to please find a seat and that she would be right with them. We enjoyed the food. IMO the food was superior to many highly rated restaurants. Will we return? Absolutely. Greasy Spoon? That depends, doesn't it? If generally you order a salad custom designed for a bunny and top it off with several tablespoons of "Healthy Fat Dressing?????", then referring to Mamas as a greasy spoon is disingenuous. My hash browns and omelet were both cooked with oil, but not smothered in oil. My son enjoyed his hamburger, and my wife enjoyed her gyro.
(5)Ramon R.
I stopped by one time to check it out since I drive by S. Dale Mabry a lot. The soup of day tasted canned and processed, same with spaghetti and meatballs. The food definitely is not made from scratch. The food arrived within 2 minutes after I ordered it. I was there for 15 minutes. If you want a quick in and out meal that is pre-made then this is your place. Obviously, people like it because the lot is full some times, or it may be an old person's place since they like bland food.
(1)Katie L.
This place was sooo soo good! You must have the homemade biscuits!!! Sausage links and waffles were really good too! Great little diamond in the rough ! Great service as well.
(5)Jessica H.
I had a previously good experience here and then came back with my parents and received dirty silverware and they gave me a mug that still had someone's fresh lipstick print on it. We all lost our appetite worrying about the cleanliness. The food was not too outstanding either. Their biscuits taste like I'm biting into a clump of flour.
(1)Jacob H.
Food was great but unfortunately bad service is what killed this place for me doubtful I will return
(2)Dan C.
For the money, you can't beat it. Good burgers, great fries, and friendly staff. Go a few times and you will feel like a regular.
(4)G. Troy S.
Nothing special but not bad
(3)Deondre B.
Great!!! It u love greasy spoons nothing beats mamas for bunch or breakfast. I whole heartily support this place. Great service and staff are very friendly... I even got to argue about Tim Tebow (it's a good thing). Taste so good makes you want to slap your mama :)
(5)Kenton M.
I'm not usually hard to please when it comes to food but I was NOT impressed. Had the prices of Cracker Barrel breakfast but definitely not the quality. Small and homey feel, but that didn't make up for everything else that was half par. Pretty overrated in my opinion.
(2)Karyn W.
In the area for work and unexpectedly stumbled on mama's. This place was awesome. Absolutely coming back!
(5)Rhianna M.
Had the veggie omelette and got made fun of for being healthy. I had a better omelet last night@IHOP. Just sayin
(3)David R.
Very good service food was awesome
(4)Tim K.
As greasy spoons go, this one was great. Service was friendly and fast, the meal was of considerable portion size and excellent quality. The best part? Like any good greasy spoon, the meal was very reasonable. If you want something quick while passing through, this is a great option.
(5)Anthony A.
I stopped by on a Sunday morning and had the best biscuit I've ever had. The hash browns were amazing. The french toast was out of this world. Everybody knows everybody it's amazing
(5)Christie T.
Been here for lunch a couple of times with some co-workers, so one night we were in South Tampa and I had a craving for some different so suggested some omelettes for dinner. When I walked in with my black wife and mixed son, it was like a scene out of a 1960s movie. Everyone in the restaurant stopped talking, eating, and turned to us with the most confused, unwelcoming expression I've ever seen. Food wasn't bad, and neither was the service, but unless you are white and blue-collar, I don't recommend going there for dinner.
