Found this restaurant via recommendation from my handy GPS unit. I found the name of the restaurant entertaining and decided to go with it. When I arrived, the parking lot was packed and I was concerned that I wouldn't find a low-key seat (read: at the bar). No worries! The place is lots larger than it looks! I sat at the bar and was immediately helped by the friendly bartender, who made his own recommendations (Coco Shrimp and Baja Burger, both DELICIOUS) and discussed my choice of beer to go along with it. Excellent, friendly, quick service, great atmosphere at the bar, tasty tasty food (I normally hate burgers, but with $5 burger Mondays, how can you say no??) and friendly staff and patrons... I'll be back. Oh, and it also converts to a normal bar after hours, staying open until at least 3, and has live music 7 nights a week. Great!

Go to see Nitro on blues night, whenever that is. There's nothing else to do on that end of town anyway.

It's no secret...I like to get drunk. I am 23 going on 21, and the Green Iguana is a good place to drink...a lot. They also have a good selection of WAY above average bar food. This bar and grill features fresh seafood, crab rangoon, hummus, pizzas, fajitas, and some of the best burgers you'll find in Tampa (hit or miss). I had one that made me dream happy thoughts, and another that was so charred I didn't even finish it. As for the drinks - $1 beer Wednesday's is when you'll typically find me at "The Green." They usually have a pretty decent band belting out some classic bar covers. The one hidden gem I found was on Monday aka- 'blues night', where I discovered that I like the blues. Crazy. However, sometimes the music is too loud, and the crowd is a little hillbilly. I'm pretty much in love with one of their cute little bartenders. I actually get nervous to order drinks from her like I'm in the fifth grade again. Not that I ordered drinks from cute girls in the fifth grade or anything...what I was I talking about again?

While the food was decent, our waitress was rarely seen. We had to ask another waitress to get ours so we could order. When we did order the kitchen took so long to make food a friend I was with cancelled her order as we had already waited 30 minutes. End of the day I will not be coming back soon.

Good menu - different selection than average bar. Cute beach theme and outdoor seating bar area was nice. Large wood tables fun swings on the bar. One down fall - bathrooms were a wreck LOTS of bugs no ventilation poor lighting. Just bad. But overall good atmosphere good drink good food.

Monday nights, the Green Iguana on Westshore has a live Blues Jam band. I've been at least a dozen times, and am always blown away by the quality of the music. Local musicians drop in and play with the band, and sometimes a national act will stroll through and jump in. Some of my favorite nights in Tampa have been here on a Monday night listening to blues and dancing with some of the Blues dancers who come here to dance. Warning, it gets really warm here if you're dancing. Also, I think they do a 5$ burger special on Mondays, so grab a late dinner, a drink and enjoy some really great blues music!

I was finishing up lunch at a restaurant near International Plaza when I received a message from my Yelp friend Kelly K. asking if I wanted to meet up with her and some friends for a Happy Hour drink at the Green Iguana in South Tampa. I've long been a fan of Green Iguana, since I'm a regular at their location on Anderson Road and also at the former location on Dale Mabry just north of I-275, so I rowed my pontoon boat down Westshore and met up with Kelly and her friends. Now I should point out that the city of Tampa got slammed by thunderstorms on this particular Friday, and the roads were a real mess as I dropped further and further south. I'm used to the much larger Green Iguana restaurant / bar layout, so this smaller tiki bar-style setup was a bit of a surprise to me. Sure enough, Kelly and her neighbors were seated at a 4-top table just to the side of the bar, and so I pulled up the chair and ordered a frosty, cold Adult beverage. Right about this time the Heavens opened up with another torrential downpour, so we had a good laugh about the poor soles who were paddling their canoes along Westshore as they slopped their ways back home. This was also about the time that the tiki roof started leaking. Not just a drip, drip, drip kind of leak, but a steady trickle from many different spots over the bar area. We got up and moved to a different table, but it honestly wasn't much better so we just sat there and laughed about the whole thing while getting wet. What the heck -- it was Friday afternoon, and we were there to decompress and have some drinks. Besides, there was no soap in the water so what was the big deal? The drinks were reasonably priced, and our server checked in on us frequently without being annoying. He did make a fantastic sliding stop on the wet deck which earned him a round of applause from our table. If I remember correctly, this is the original Green Iguana location and you'll find it roughly midway between El Prado and Gandy along Westshore. Obviously they need to do some work on the leaky roof, but the atmosphere is certainly fun, the staff is terrific, and the piped-in music was a perfect blend. Since my local Green Iguana is closing, I'll have to make the drive down to South Tampa more often to enjoy the island atmosphere. Go Green!

I like the Green Iguana! I have one by my office and one by my place. They have good bar food: burger, wings, chicken tenders and most of their appetizers are great (specially the Kickin' shrimp). I've come here with my business associates, with friends, and sometimes by myself to watch a soccer game. They always have drinks special available and they are famous for their $1.50 drinks on Wednesdays. I have met some interesting people in my visits to this place. The service is good but it depends on who you get. I will continue to come to this place. Good luck!

I like this place. I probably frequent it on a weekly or biweekly basis. It is close to home. The food is good. I haven't had a bad meal and the drinks aren't real pricey. They have bands every night. There have been some really good bands there in the past. The burger special on Monday night is good. I also love their buffalo chicken or shrimp mac and cheese. It is a favorite of mine. The service is usually good and the servers are friendly and remember you. The people in the bar are a mixed crowd. Sometimes it's also good for people watching.

I used to love this place - the food, the drinks and the entertainment were all great. The past few times I've been there, however, the service has been atrocious! We tried sitting at a table and never got service for at least 10 minutes. We finally went up to the bar and ordered a drink, and waited another 10 minutes with no drink delivery. Finally, we walked out - and getting into the car, we saw the bartender IN THE PARKING LOT! no wonder those drinks weren't getting served! definitely no way to run a restaurant.

I love this place! There are many Green Iguana's, but this one is mine! I have visited the Green Iguana since June 2011. I love the food (Best Burger of Tampa) and the music. Many regulars visit nightly, so there are familiar faces; but I have seen many new faces too. All different types of people are welcome at the Green Iguana West Shore, doggies too!!!

The hostess that was working there today was shitty and rude. I decided not to give that place any business because of her attitude towards me. When I walked up to the host stand she didn't even smile or welcome me. I was the one who initiated the conversation after the awkward 5 second staring contest. Like, hello? Use your words.... Anyways I went down the street to Tequilas instead. That place was GREAT!

I had been to every Green Iguana in Tampa except this one. What took me so long?I think this one might be my favorite. I loved how the while place is surrounded by trees so you don't feel like you're surrounded by a bunch of businesses. It's a little smaller than every other GI I've been to, but outs sputter cute! When we walked in the door,a server quickly greeted us and let us know we could sit wherever we wanted. We chose a nearby stand-up. Service was great. I got the Buffalo Mac and Cheese... My favorite...it's just like it sounds, buffalo chicken ends on top of a big bowl of Mac n cheese. The only reason I'm giving for stars instead of five is because the love music is so loud. I love live music but in my opinion when it's in a restaurant it's nice to still be able to hold a conversation and not awkwardly look at each other because you can't hear each other. I'll def be back!

We had drinks and appetizers here tonight. The atmosphere was fun and very clean. We had the "Cali Mari" and the chicken quesadillas. Both were excellent. The server was very friendly and efficient. Nice menu with lots of different selections. They have a much larger menu than what is posted online so do not let that discourage you from patronizing this great bar/restaurant. The outdoor bar area was really cool -- there are swings at the bar! According to the server, they have entertainment every night. We will definitely visit there again.

Love the live music and the tiki roof on the outdoor patio. Food is good, loved "the stinky" burger!

Our first time at Green Iguana was in July 2012 (how have I not been here sooner??) when a friend suggested we meet up here after the 311 concert a group of us were attending. We arrived late, hungry and ready for some decent drinks. We ordered burgers and I immediately fell in love with Green Iguana. There was a great band playing and the food was delicious. I have been here many times since then and I have yet to have a bad experience. I seriously crave their burgers. They are incredibly juicy and fresh tasting. Definitely one of the best burgers in the area. We have also had their nachos which are the perfect buzzed food. The portions are large and the service is great. I only wish that there was a Green Iguana in downtown St. Pete.

Awesome place to have a chill dinner and drinks. The layout of the outside bar is awesome and you can clearly hear the live music from inside. Almost all of the apps are delicious, the burgers are good, and the margaritas are poured well. I throw on flip flops and come here every time I visit Tampa.

I really wanted to love this place. The setting itself is reminscent of a tiki bar in Hawaii -- very lush with lots of greenery and wood. The food is decent if you stick with burgers. Everything else felt and tasted like it was just taken out of the freezer, plopped in the microwave, and then dished up. The service, though, was completely hit or miss and is why I lowered the score from three to two stars. My husband and I tried this place a total of three times. Only one time did we have a "nice" server. The other two times the service was either non-existent or, when we were able to get someone's attention, it was as though we were bothering them -- and this was at 5PM in the evening. It's not like the place was packed -- it was only about 1/5th full at the time. No THANKS to that kind of treatment! We took our money elsewhere, happily.

This place is a lot of fun to dance and have a good time. It has the feel of a tiki hut and the drinks are cheap. Be sure to look up the specials for the night. Parking can get packed and if you are planning on getting a table you will want to get there before the bar scene. This is a great place to get together with friends, wear some flip-flops and take fun pictures dancing to the live band

This place was alright. Probably the best coconut rice I've ever had. Other than that, it was a bit loud with the live music and nothing too special.

Great tuna sashimi, especially for a bar/grill. Waiter was very nice, place was clean, and the band was decent. I'll try out the one closer to my home next time round.

Well after being asked over a hundred times by co-workers to "GO GREEN" as they called it I finally said alright I will be there!! So I never been to this location but it's very small and has a wooden deck which is where I spent my time at the music was kool they played a little of everything and the joint was packed and was rocking!! First stop was obviously the bar and I ordered four drinks and I promise I heard the bartender say $50 (coming from miami thats about right) but she said no $15!!! I almost dropped the drinks, I ordered two long beach ice teas and two tequila sunrise and it was $15 I knew then I wasn't in kansas anymore........So going green on a wednesday night was cool.

awesome place. lots of locals. The vibe is nice, the bartenders are awesome. Joe, Josh, and Saint are especially nice and always remember me. I am new in town and was recommended this place to grab a quick bite--- I am obsessed with their buffalo chic wrap! you must do it with the sweet potato fries! wings are good too!

I have only eaten at the Green Iguana once and had wings, they were delicious. I often go late night for drinks with friends. Staff is friendly and fast. I have heard so much about their burgers and really want to try one. The only drawback to the Green is the smoking on the patio since I am very sensative to smoke. Other than that, great place and great service.

I like this place. This is my go-to burger joint and I meet here almost on a weekly basis with friends for dinner and drinks. The Southwestern Bacon Burger is my favorite item on the menu. It is always cooked to the right temperature and comes with a healthy amount of their fries. The service can be spotty depending on who you get as your server, but overall a nice place for a burger, happy hour, and live entertainment.

This place gets a solid 4! I've been coming here for over 20 years (showing my age).... This is the ORIGINAL Green Iguana. And the best! (I've visited the one in Ybor and the one on Anderson and this one's just the classic real deal). The big deal more recently is years ago when they added the outdoor thatched covered deck area with seating for eating and drinking, the bar outside there....a great addition to the establishment. The menu has changed often with refreshing new takes on their classics and new items. I've always enjoyed everything I've had here. And there's live music most nights! It's not the best bands in town, but they are always fun. Monday night, it was unexpected to me - but live music! Their burgers are great! Their fish (the grouper was the huge highlight for years) is always good. Beer, wine, liquor - whatever you wish. The shrimp appetizers (martini and garlic) are both winners! I'm itching to try to different taco options, but most of all, this place offers live music, outdoor seating, is always open - late night dining! and has never disappointed!

Had a great night here last night. They had an awesome British guy there singing and playing the guitar. The food was really good as well. Ordered the tuna sashimi, shrimp avocado dip, and another saucy shrimp that was served with garlic bread. Everything was amazing! The service was good considering the poor girl serving us had the entire bar area by her self. I would recommend this location for their great food, fun atmosphere, and great choices in music.

Get Jenna to make you a mojito, they're incredible. The food is good the staff is awesome and they have live music everyday. The only band they get that I don't like is retribution (who still listens to hair metal bands). It's just a good local neighborhood bar

Some of the best burgers in Tampa, but not too much else special. The outside bar reeks of mildew and god knows what else. Granted it's kind of out in the elements, but it's just not a pleasant smell. I usually sit inside anyway and the service has always been pretty good. Like I said, the burgers are great and some other menu items are worth trying too. The Buffalo Mac N Cheese is pretty tasty. Crispy buffalo chicken and really creamy mac and cheese. Good food and great place to grab a beer after work. When there's a live band, it can get very loud inside and Wednesday nights can be way too crowded when they have their $1 drinks after 10. Another small issue would be the bathroom attendants. They are usually there at nights on weekends, but it's just not that kind of place that would require this and it becomes a hassle to think you have to tip someone for a paper towel in a tiki/sports bar.

I suppose reading the other reviews got my expectations up. The cheeseburger selections and ideas are creative and tasty. However, I ordered my burger cooked medium and it was burnt and dried up. Another guy I was with found a hair in his cheeseburger, though it was difficult to see from the tons of ketchup he had to pour on the meat to hide the burnt taste. I'm definitely not coming back.

Good food, great location, fun live music however the staff (especially inside) have absolutely no manners/professionalism and the amount of smoking literally keeps me from coming more often. We only ever do take out now, if anything. Last time we picked up, after politely waiting to give our name, the girl behind the bar finally looked up and proceeded to tell us that we hadn't called. We had to wait for the other girl to come back from her smoke break only to find out that the food had been ready. We paid and on the way out, heard the girls cursing (literally screamed F*** among other things) and playing on their phones. I like a good expletive now and then, but not at work ladies.

Had an amazing burger tonight. The southwest bacon burger was perfectly medium, and the bacon was crispy. The fries were seasoned well...and if you've never tried their ranch, you're missing out.

I had an okay experience with Green Iguana. Granted it's a nice place, they serve decent bar food and the atmosphere is well decorated. I'm a vegetarian, I avoid meat. I don't mind some cheeses and eggs but I avoid any proteins with a passion. I had the 1/2 primevera with house salad. Nothing special. I'll try the other dishes next time but I was just being picky and trying to find a purely vegetarian friendly dish. Overall it was a good dinner and this place has a great atmosphere, I think the next time I try out Green Iguana I hope to have a better experience. I know this place is known locally as a great bar spot especially late at night. If I have a better experience I'll update my review.

I have been frequenting this place for years, recently we have been conducting our "Thirsty Thursday's" for lunch here. We usually have a table of 4 and always ask for Mary Jane to be our server. She is one reason we return! The lunch's are reasonably priced, the drink specials are dangerous and the atmosphere is nothing shy of perfect. Sitting is available outside or in depending on your preference. I had the Cuban with fries and the sandwich was massive. It was good, not great but for the price it was reasonable. Check out the Yelp Deal, it's $5 off $25! One of the things about the Green Iguana is the location, it's tucked away so that most that frequent the bar are somewhat regulars. We will continue our tradition of Thirsty Thursday's here!

Ugh Wednesdays suck unless you like club style bar hopping. The crew there are always good to me and I can not say anything bad about the place other than Wednesdays, they are not for me anymore.

This is a very popular local watering hole with a reputation for great hamburgers. Not so! Our hamburgers ordered medium came well over done. The frozen generic fries were undercooked and limp. When the waitress asked how was our hamburgers and was told that that they were way overcooked, she said "sorry" and walked away.

This restaurant was horrible. My family of 11 were vacationing in Treasure Island, Florida and wanted to go here after the one in St . Petersburg closed 2 years ago. I called the restaurant at 5:30pm and asked if they had indoor seating because we have 2 young children and didnt want to sit outside. Was told that they have plenty of indoor seating and that they did not take reservation but if we were there within the hour then we would be fine. I explained 3 times that we were driving from a half and hour away, she said no problem. After getting to the resturant a 6:10pm I walked in and told them that there was a total of 11 and they told me sorry we have now closed all indoor seating due to a funeral celebration. I then asked to speak to the manager who told me in his exact words "sorry about your bad luck". I then asked for the general manager or district manager phone number and a guy came from kitchen claiming to be GM. He then stated that he didnt care that we just traveled 30 minutes there only after calling me a liar saying I didnt call at 530 pm so I so him my phone log and then he insisted that the hostess has no clue about anything. My party of 11 then loaded back up in our cars and left. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. They wonder why they are closing up when ypu have piss poor managrment like that. I am still trying to contact there district manager.

We came with a large crowd (12 people) and the waitress was very accommodating. We all placed our orders and she was quick to ask if this was going to be separate checks which was nice. None of the food or drinks were mixed up. The waitress also made sure all our drinks were constantly refilled and we weren't missing anything. Food was served slightly slow but we did have a large order so it probably was hard to time it perfectly. I ordered the pork sliders which lacked seasoning but it was tender. I left my fries untouched because they were cold and stale. I ordered the side capri salad for an additional 99 cents and it was decent. Overall, it was a laid-back and relaxing way to end the day after an afternoon by the pool.

I used to live at the cove which was great being just a walking distance to the bar. I moved about 6 months ago and decided to go up there tonight for Monday Night Football. I stayed until close and called a cab around 2:40 am. At 3:50, Josh, my bartender saw me outside still and offered to give me a ride home. Apparently cabs in Tampa don't run on Monday nights. I've been out to a lot of bars in many cities and would never in any way expect this from a bartender, especially being in the industry, but it was super cool and far beyond any scope of his duties as an employee. I really appreciated it. Thanks again for all the good times and for inconveniencing yourself to help me out.

This is the original green Iguana. I think its a stomping ground for Tampa locals. Its your normal bar with an outside deck and pub fare. A small draft selection with ok food. The service was a little slow was my only complaint. Its a normal place to just grab a drink and chew on some apps.

I've been going to this Green Iguana (dare I say it?!??!) since I was 19 years old. Now that I am 40, I still love this place! I've been there when I was single, married and now our kids enjoy going with us. This place started out pretty small, with a tiny back room with a pool table. Over the years, they have grown and expanded. When I was younger, I never really ate here... just a place for us to go and listen to a good band and have some beer. Throughout the years, their menu has grown and now (since I am much older) we visit Green Iguana more for the food than for the beers and band. (Altho' we do still have a cocktail or two with our meal). I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal from here. Their portions are huge and even though I am a huge eater, I haven't been able to finish an entire meal by myself. Also, in the 20 years that I have been coming here, besides slow service every now and again (when they are busy), I have never had a rude server/bartender. I don't mind the smoke... I know if I sit outside all places in FL allow you to smoke... If this was a huge problem, I would just eat inside.

I can't say enough good things about Green Iguana. It's our neighborhood bar & grill that we frequent at least once a week. We have found favorite dishes on the menu plus they add new items once in a while. The drinks are always great and you truly can't beat the price. We love the outdoor patio bar and it's always a destination for our guests visiting from out of state. The Iguana has that Tampa charm that the big chains just can't deliver plus we are never disappointed with the servers--Jenna, Krystal, Vanessa, Josh to name a few. Keep up the great work guys!!!!!!

I love coming here with my boyfriend on burger Mondays. The service is good and I enjoy the live music while my boyfriend enjoys the hockey game. We always have a good time and I always order my burger medium rare. My last visit however my burger was extremely rare! I still ate half of it but was a little disappointed that time but I will continue to go back ( I might actually go tonight ) just making sure I check my temp. On my next burger! Try " the stinky " blue cheese burger, it's one of our faves.

I love this place! They have a great happy hour with a 2 for 1 wine deal (perfect for moi) and a good deal on draft beer (perfect for my beau). For apps, I recommend the smokey fish dip or the crab rangoon. For dinner I usually go with their version of the cobb salad (I'm not sure what they call it). I wont knock off any stars for it, but the wings are just a no-go. They aren't spicy at all and the sauce isn't very tasty. This is a great place to watch the game or listen to live music, too! All the servers are great and the place itself has a great look to it.

Green Iguana (as an overall chain) is popular in this area, but this particular location is not that enticing. We had drinks and dinner here late one and everything was sub-par for taste. I had a Mai-Tai with the White Bean Hummus appetizer, the Mediterranean style Grouper and the Deep Fried Key Lime Pie dessert (they only have that and a Deep Fried Cheesecake, which wasn't available at this spot that night). My partner had a Mojito with the "Cali-Mari" appetizer, I can't recall his entree but it was also a "healthy" plate with rice and steamed veggies and he had the deep fried key lime pie for dessert as well. The calamari was crunchy (it should be tender), the hummus was average, and both of our entrees were "just ok". Dessert was the best part and even still- it's deep friend key lime pie... Let me say this- Neither of us ate more than half (if even that) of any plate that came to our table. When our waitress cleared our dessert plates (still covered in mounds of whipped cream and pie filling) she said to us "Wow! I can't believe you guys ate ALL that food!!.... Wow... I've never seen anyone eat that much.... No, um, that's a GOOD thing!" SMH... Yes, I wanted to smack her. On the up-side, the location has a nice outdoor area with a pleasant view of the water and the sky and cozy/intimate outdoor seating areas, as well as a huge dance-floor that opens to the outdoors.

The Green Iguana is a great place to watch a game. You, quite literally, cannot turn your head in any direction without seeing one or more televisions. (On a sidenote, it is a terrible place for a date, as it is terribly difficult to pay attention to the conversation when there are multible tvs above your date's head). The food is ok. The burgers are worth getting on Mondays ($5 burger special), but are otherwise overpriced. The appetizers and sandwiches are generally fine, but nothing special. The service is a bit slow. They keep drinks full, but it tends to take a long time for food to come out. (Thus, it is not a good option if you need a quick lunch.) The beer selection is limited, but the drink specials can be very good. It is best to limit your visits to the Green Iguana to its happy hour and to occasionally watching games. Otherwise, you can do better.

I've gotta say, this place did everything for everyone, of course when that is the case you normally sacrifice something for someone. It is a great general purpose bar/watering hole/face stuffing hole. The food was great and the beer was of a reasonable price. Also the waitresses were quite easy on the eyes. We were there on a Friday night and I'm sure they had the A-team out, but hey it was a great time either way. Aside from the middle-aged lass addicted to special-k that graced our presence (apparently she makes the rounds) we had a really lovely time at the Green Iguana, I must say, more fun than the Ybor City locale.

The burger was pretty good. I ordered it medium but I think it was delivered medium-well. Either way it was delicious. They have a lot of somewhat exotic toppings for the burgers, apparently "1000 different burgers". Definitely worth checking out.

Good local bar for people living in this part of town. Great place to meetup from friends and hang out in the tikki bar, very laid back. Decent food as far as bar food goes. Live music almost every night of the week, which is both good and bad. A few of the bands, not so good.

I went here 2 years ago with my fiancee & father in law, before we went fishing off of the Gandy Bridge. I remember enjoying my hamburger as we sat outside under the thatched roof (the trademark of a Green Iguana), but more importantly I remember the fried gator tail! They seem to have taken it off of the menu since, though. :(

While the food was decent, our waitress was rarely seen. We had to ask another waitress to get ours so we could order. When we did order the kitchen took so long to make food a friend I was with cancelled her order as we had already waited 30 minutes. End of the day I will not be coming back soon.

Get Jenna to make you a mojito, they're incredible. The food is good the staff is awesome and they have live music everyday. The only band they get that I don't like is retribution (who still listens to hair metal bands). It's just a good local neighborhood bar

Great!

Blues on Monday nights, grouper bites for lunch, or just happy hour with old friends....the Original Green Iguana on Westshore has been a local hangout for at least two decades.

Flew into MacDill...late, hungry, friend picked me up. They are open late so here we go. Ate a huge yummy burger...and a cocktail. Good. Would eat more, but I must watch my weight (ha ha ha) Late, must go work soon. See ya.

Bar food with an outdoor tiki bar feel. They have a live band almost every night. I recommend the burgers, they have a ton of them.

Mojo pork sliders are nom-tastic. The burger with the chipotel mayo and fried jalepenos...also nomtastic.

Good local bar for people living in this part of town. Great place to meetup from friends and hang out in the tikki bar, very laid back. Decent food as far as bar food goes. Live music almost every night of the week, which is both good and bad. A few of the bands, not so good.

Good luck!

Get Jenna to make you a mojito, they're incredible. The food is good the staff is awesome and they have live music everyday. The only band they get that I don't like is retribution (who still listens to hair metal bands). It's just a good local neighborhood bar

I had one that made me dream happy thoughts, and another that was so charred I didn't even finish it. As for the drinks - $1 beer Wednesday's is when you'll typically find me at "The Green." I went here 2 years ago with my fiancee & father in law, before we went fishing off of the Gandy Bridge. I remember enjoying my hamburger as we sat outside under the thatched roof (the trademark of a Green Iguana), but more importantly I remember the fried gator tail! They seem to have taken it off of the menu since, though. :(

Great!

While the food was decent, our waitress was rarely seen. We had to ask another waitress to get ours so we could order. When we did order the kitchen took so long to make food a friend I was with cancelled her order as we had already waited 30 minutes. End of the day I will not be coming back soon.

Laid back spot with tons of outdoor/open air space. Got a tight-ass Green Iguana t-shirt for my Boston Terrier there. Too bad his massive barrel chest has caused him to grow out of it.

Not that I ordered drinks from cute girls in the fifth grade or anything...what I was I talking about again?

loved it... lol so not my crowd though! very frat house college crowd but it had a hugeeeeeeeee outdoor dancefloor.. cheap drinks.. great music! i had fun!

While the food was decent, our waitress was rarely seen. We had to ask another waitress to get ours so we could order. When we did order the kitchen took so long to make food a friend I was with cancelled her order as we had already waited 30 minutes. End of the day I will not be coming back soon.

Good luck!
(3)Renay P.
This is my go-to place. Close to where I live, live music nightly and consistently good food. Servers and bartenders are always very cool and nice.
(4)Leighann S.
(4)Scott W.
(1)Mimi H.
(5)Reba P.
(1)Cassandra S.

Pete.
(5)Kevin J.
Awesome place to have a chill dinner and drinks. The layout of the outside bar is awesome and you can clearly hear the live music from inside. Almost all of the apps are delicious, the burgers are good, and the margaritas are poured well. I throw on flip flops and come here every time I visit Tampa.
(5)Boun C.
Come hungry and enjoy their burgers. My favorite is the Southwest Bacon burger. Yum yum
(4)Carrie P.
Swings at the bar!! Josh Mackeller is bartending on Tuesday nights...excellent service. Very clean and great energy...Monday is $5 burgers and Wednesday night is $1.50 wells all night.

(2)Tina H.
(3)Jack F.
This place was alright. Probably the best coconut rice I've ever had. Other than that, it was a bit loud with the live music and nothing too special.
(3)Matthew C.
Great tuna sashimi, especially for a bar/grill. Waiter was very nice, place was clean, and the band was decent. I'll try out the one closer to my home next time round.
(3)Travis H.
(4)Bibi A.
awesome place. lots of locals.
(5)Tracy G.
(3)Kenny A.

(4)Shannon S.

Great food! Great staff , fast timely and friendly! Went Sunday night for the first time, great experience !
(4)Judi M.
The good morning America burger is AWESOME! Hubby loves the mac & cheese and PBR in a cold can! Good live music!
(5)Jason C.
I mostly come. here for the lunch. Good food & lunch happy hour makes it cheap to have a cocktail/beer/wine. But MaryJane makes the whole place work!
(5)Christopher F.
Get Jenna to make you a mojito, they're incredible. The food is good the staff is awesome and they have live music everyday. The only band they get that I don't like is retribution (who still listens to hair metal bands). It's just a good local neighborhood bar
(5)Josiah G.

(1)Rachel S.
(3)Bethany J.
Had an amazing burger tonight. The southwest bacon burger was perfectly medium, and the bacon was crispy. The fries were seasoned well...and if you've never tried their ranch, you're missing out.
(5)Brendan C.
(3)Kelly K.
(4)Dominic S.
Ugh Wednesdays suck unless you like club style bar hopping. The crew there are always good to me and I can not say anything bad about the place other than Wednesdays, they are not for me anymore.
(5)Gerald S.
(1)David C.
I just come here to hangout have a Burger and a few beers while listening to live music. In all a cool place to hangout.

(5)Michael D.
This is the original green Iguana. I think its a stomping ground for Tampa locals. Its your normal bar with an outside deck and pub fare. A small draft selection with ok food. The service was a little slow was my only complaint. Its a normal place to just grab a drink and chew on some apps.
(3)Jan S.
(4)Patricia M.
(5)Giselle O.

Son loves BBQ wings

The beer selection is limited, but the drink specials can be very good.

(4)Wes S.
The burger was pretty good. I ordered it medium but I think it was delivered medium-well. Either way it was delicious. They have a lot of somewhat exotic toppings for the burgers, apparently "1000 different burgers". Definitely worth checking out.

Blues on Monday nights, grouper bites for lunch, or just happy hour with old friends....the Original Green Iguana on Westshore has been a local hangout for at least two decades.
(4)Invisible P.
Flew into MacDill...late, hungry, friend picked me up. They are open late so here we go. Ate a huge yummy burger...and a cocktail. Good. Would eat more, but I must watch my weight (ha ha ha) Late, must go work soon. See ya.
(4)Cody S.
Bar food with an outdoor tiki bar feel. They have a live band almost every night. I recommend the burgers, they have a ton of them.
(4)Chris M.
A little creepy around happy hour but amazing drink specials and cool out door patio.
(4)Kelly F.
Mojo pork sliders are nom-tastic. The burger with the chipotel mayo and fried jalepenos...also nomtastic.
(4)Devin S.
Laid back spot with tons of outdoor/open air space. Got a tight-ass Green Iguana t-shirt for my Boston Terrier there. Too bad his massive barrel chest has caused him to grow out of it.
(4)Carlos L.
This is my favorite hamburger joint. Best hamburgers in the city and some awards back it up! very casual atmosphere, music, bar. love it here.
(4)Ryan M.
Good local bar for people living in this part of town. Great place to meetup from friends and hang out in the tikki bar, very laid back. Decent food as far as bar food goes. Live music almost every night of the week, which is both good and bad. A few of the bands, not so good.
(4)Jason R.
Good burgers and laid back vibe.
(4)Sally M.
(4)Leighann S.
(4)Annabelle C.
(4)Katie T.
(4)Jason L.
Good burgers and drinks. I really like the interior.
(4)Mimi H.
(5)Reba P.
(1)Cassandra S.
(4)Stephanie D.
While the food was decent, our waitress was rarely seen. We had to ask another waitress to get ours so we could order. When we did order the kitchen took so long to make food a friend I was with cancelled her order as we had already waited 30 minutes. End of the day I will not be coming back soon.
(2)Mineh I.
(5)Scott W.

Go Green!
(3)Fabian M.
Good luck!
(3)Renay P.
This is my go-to place. Close to where I live, live music nightly and consistently good food. Servers and bartenders are always very cool and nice.
(4)S G.
Love the live music and the tiki roof on the outdoor patio. Food is good, loved "the stinky" burger!
(5)Kenny A.
(4)Alicia P.

Pete.
(5)Kevin J.
Awesome place to have a chill dinner and drinks. The layout of the outside bar is awesome and you can clearly hear the live music from inside. Almost all of the apps are delicious, the burgers are good, and the margaritas are poured well. I throw on flip flops and come here every time I visit Tampa.
(5)Josiah G.

Interesting security

I suppose reading the other reviews got my expectations up. The cheeseburger selections and ideas are creative and tasty. However, I ordered my burger cooked medium and it was burnt and dried up. Another guy I was with found a hair in his cheeseburger, though it was difficult to see from the tons of ketchup he had to pour on the meat to hide the burnt taste. I'm definitely not coming back.
(1)Shannon S.
(5)Alan M.
(5)Rachel S.
(3)Boun C.
(5)Christopher F.
Get Jenna to make you a mojito, they're incredible. The food is good the staff is awesome and they have live music everyday. The only band they get that I don't like is retribution (who still listens to hair metal bands). It's just a good local neighborhood bar
(5)Bethany J.
Had an amazing burger tonight. The southwest bacon burger was perfectly medium, and the bacon was crispy. The fries were seasoned well...and if you've never tried their ranch, you're missing out.
(5)Brendan C.
(3)Kelly K.
(4)Dominic S.
Ugh Wednesdays suck unless you like club style bar hopping. The crew there are always good to me and I can not say anything bad about the place other than Wednesdays, they are not for me anymore.
(5)Rebeccah W.
(2)Tina H.
(4)Bibi A.
awesome place. lots of locals.
(5)Tracy G.

(3)Jan S.
(4)Patricia M.
(5)Giselle O.
(3)Jennie W.
Son loves BBQ wings
(3)Liz A.
(5)Susan H.

Decent sports bar

(2)Alex N.
(4)Wes S.
The burger was pretty good. I ordered it medium but I think it was delivered medium-well. Either way it was delicious. They have a lot of somewhat exotic toppings for the burgers, apparently "1000 different burgers". Definitely worth checking out.
(4)Gerald S.

I just come here to hangout have a Burger and a few beers while listening to live music. In all a cool place to hangout.

Blues on Monday nights, grouper bites for lunch, or just happy hour with old friends....the Original Green Iguana on Westshore has been a local hangout for at least two decades.

Great!
(4)Nada R.

(4)danielle d.
loved it... lol so not my crowd though! very frat house college crowd but it had a hugeeeeeeeee outdoor dancefloor.. cheap drinks.. great music! i had fun!

(4)Wes S.
The burger was pretty good. I ordered it medium but I think it was delivered medium-well. Either way it was delicious. They have a lot of somewhat exotic toppings for the burgers, apparently "1000 different burgers". Definitely worth checking out.
(4)Gerald S.
(1)David C.
I just come here to hangout have a Burger and a few beers while listening to live music. In all a cool place to hangout.
(3)Maria C.

(4)John R.
(1)Mimi H.
(5)Reba P.
(1)Mineh I.
(5)Scott W.

Go Green!
(3)Fabian M.
Good luck!
(3)Renay P.
This is my go-to place. Close to where I live, live music nightly and consistently good food. Servers and bartenders are always very cool and nice.
(4)S G.
Love the live music and the tiki roof on the outdoor patio. Food is good, loved "the stinky" burger!
(5)Alicia P.

Pete.

(5)Alan M.
(5)Rachel S.
(3)Boun C.
(3)Kelly K.
(4)Dominic S.
Ugh Wednesdays suck unless you like club style bar hopping. The crew there are always good to me and I can not say anything bad about the place other than Wednesdays, they are not for me anymore.
(5)Rebeccah W.
(2)Tina H.

(4)Bibi A.
awesome place. lots of locals.
(5)Tracy G.

(3)Jan S.
(4)Patricia M.
(5)Giselle O.

I like this place. I probably frequent it on a weekly or biweekly basis. It is close to home. The food is good. I haven't had a bad meal and the drinks aren't real pricey. They have bands every night. There have been some really good bands there in the past. The burger special on Monday night is good. I also love their buffalo chicken or shrimp mac and cheese. It is a favorite of mine. The service is usually good and the servers are friendly and remember you. The people in the bar are a mixed crowd. Sometimes it's also good for people watching.

While the food was decent, our waitress was rarely seen. We had to ask another waitress to get ours so we could order. When we did order the kitchen took so long to make food a friend I was with cancelled her order as we had already waited 30 minutes. End of the day I will not be coming back soon.

Laid back spot with tons of outdoor/open air space. Got a tight-ass Green Iguana t-shirt for my Boston Terrier there. Too bad his massive barrel chest has caused him to grow out of it.
