I used to live in Virginia. I have moved to Bradenton now. I have been back and it is fabulous as usual. Curried goat (there are bones) is phenomenal. Portions are huge. I'll be back the next time I drive to Tampa. It's in north Tampa but worth the drive.

I'm going to say that Golden Krust is A-OK for me because I have only had the beef, spicy beef and curry chicken patties. The patties are only $1 on Mondays and to my luck, I've been to Golden Krust twice- both times on a Monday! I love patties of any kind, in particular my native Colombian beef empanadas. The Golden Krust patties are quite large in size compared to your typical Colombian empanada. For instance, two Golden Krust patties are enough to fill me up, whereas 14 Colombian empanadas might do the trick for me. At Golden Krust, I feel like the patty pastry itself is a bit dry but adding hot sauce gives it some moisture. The spicy beef has just the right amount of kick to where adding hot sauce isn't overbearing. The curry chicken patty was interesting. Not overbearingly curried but definitely detectable. Last time I went, there were lots of Caribbean people coming in for patties on the go. They were having conversations with the friendly staff ladies and let me just say that their accents were lovely. :-) NOTE: They do not accept credit cards for orders less than $5. How to get around it? Order enough patties to equal $5 and you're set!

Not impressed food tastes like it's been sitting all day. The cashier was nice. Not clean. Nothing was good as I expected it to be :( don't waste your time !!!!!

I've been here a few times but have experienced some diminishing returns. The beef patty normal, tastes like the ones you pick up in Sam's club and their cafeteria style food looks to either have been sitting on the steamers all day or poured directly from a can. Jamaican patties taste the same almost everywhere and here they aren't bad, but i wouldn't risk trying another shrimp patty, the texture was odd and smelled very uh interesting. Their hot sauce is melt your tongue spicy and sweet at the same time, very good to mask the bland taste of the patties.

The brown stew chicken lunch special was amazing and for only $3.99 made even better. The cocoa bread was cold I'm used to being warmed and a bit softer and beef patty wasn't so good could have been better.

The people working here were so nice. I never tried Caribbean food,. and they had a hot plate where they show all that is available. They had different types of chicken, beef, and oxtail. They were all stews. I was able to try all of them out, and then pick from what I liked. The prices were not bad at all, and they had huge servings. I also tried the pasties which are like spanish empanadas. I am glad I tried the food. I know now how it is. It's a tiny bit spicy for me, so I don't think I will have it again, but glad I know that I have tried it. The people here were very generous, and were happy to tell me all about their food.

Very tasty and nice staff. I had the curried goat. Had a few surprise pieces of bone, but that's the joy of goat ;) On the "side orders" menu, I saw plantains were listed. Can't resist those, so I ordered them with the meal. I was only given a SINGLE piece of plantain. Most places will usually give you at least three. Meh. Small portion of plantains aside, though, the meal was tasty and I'd go again. The decent portion of meat and the large amount of rice filled me up pretty quickly. It's too bad I don't live closer to this location or I'd probably try it out for breakfast sometime.

Food is incredible serving size is wonderful (enough to eat for lunch and dinner). Staff friendly and it's an all around great experience to go there to eat! I love their brown stew chicken and curry chicken with red beans and rice! One compliant give me more plantains. They only serve one plantain per meal.

Golden Krust is a restaurant franchise that is as popular as KFC in Manhattan. I would often frequent these shops late at night for a snack, or even for breakfast. Since it is a franchise are of these shops are run differently and have different specials. So when I saw that they just opened two in Tampa, I had to go and see if it met the NYC standards. The best thing here is the meat patties; I recommend the Spicy Beef or the Curry patties. If you have never had meat patties, they are similar to empanadas, but with more of a tender croissant like crust. Golden Krust is known for their crust being a yellow color from the food dye that they put in it. Also, make sure to drink an original or pink grapefruit Ting with your patties for the full experience. They also have other items like Curry Goat and other types of stews. But, I come here for two patties and a Ting.

Tried the jerk chicken patty. Tasty and pretty cheap, but then again it's a franchise Caribbean bakery chain. They have monday night specials $1 for their beef patty. Tastes like a tasty empanada to me!

I just visited this place today for the first & last time ever. The young lady that waited on me was friendly & helpful with answering my questions, I did appreciate her patience with me since this was my first visit. I decided to order the goat curry with rice for lunch to go. I also brought a jerk chicken patty. Yes, nice side portion & the price was bad for lunch. When I home I ate the jerk chicken patty first which was really good, but when I started my main course which was the goat curry there was a PIECE OF HAIR in my food!!!! Yes, I had eaten some of the food before finding the hair. I was so GROSSED out when I discovered the long hair string on a piece of the goat meat & no it was not my hair. :( :-( :-( Couldn't get the rest of it in the garbage quick enough. My first & last experience with this place. It's a shame because the food was tasting good until the HAIR appeared. So, my suggestion would be if you do visit this place for any type of cooked food done by them BEWARE OF THE HAIR!!! Yak!! :(
