If you're looking for a diner-type establishment for a decent bite of food, this is it. At the Garden Grille Cafe, the service is average (slightly slow) and the food is typical. You can find everything you would at a average diner. However, it's nothing with blazing glory and flavor.

DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU LOVE YOUR LIFE OR BATHROOM!!!! I posted a similar review yesterday... But the "owner" had it removed... She really hates the truth.. So HERE we go again. If you love to have your destroyed by unlawful sanitation, pulled from the trash, or taken from someone else's plate earlier in the day, the you'll love Garden Grille! Disclosure: I am a former employee that accepted the job to help turn this dismal place with a Confused owner around. And no matter how many times I suggested, begged, and yelled to stop buying good food, cool food down before you place it in the cooler, and date objects it fell on deaf ears. And I can't allow them to continue to KILL people with the cross-contamination and lax environment of cleanliness. I have seen this "owner" go in the trash and place food in containers to be used for tomorrow. She even once told me that she added the extra roast beef to a sandwich because it was spoiled! WHAT!!! You know it's spoiled and you are still serving it. The kitchen sits at 110 degrees on average, the breakfast crew has eggshells that have been in the floor for God knows how long. The hoods which are supposed to suck out the hot air DONT Work... and for the longest several of the freezers (yea all the fresh things are frozen after being cooked a week or so in advanced) were out and they served "molded and mildewed" desserts to people knowing that it was a hazard. You don't believe me? Go check the dumpster on any given night, see how many garbage bags have food in them... Slim to NONE! This lady doesn't through away anything... and its abysmal. She claims that she only walks people into her kitchen that know the industry, I am SORRY.. but I have owned 2 restaurants and currently I am on number 3 and my kitchens are no where near as dirty at the busiest times (and we do 4 times the volume of Garbage Grille) than the disillussioned mess she calls a kitchen. And for dessert, I hope you enjoy a little saliva with your cake.. because she cuts the frozen dated cakes, then cleans the knife with here grimmy fingers then licks her fingers before she uproots your cake and places it on a plate for you.. .Bon Appetite! And that bread pudding it was made from some one else's toast that morning... YUM! The proper way to thaw meat or product is to have it under running water or in a cooler to defrost. Simple right? The Garden Grille Way... lets leave this 20# turkey on this prep table, with no pan, in this 100+ degree heated kitchen all day until it defrosts... (Can I get a glass of Chardonnay with salmonella on the side?) That can kill people. The coolers are mildewed and reek of decay and rot. All the produce rots because she much rather prefers to feed you Garbage than to purchase frugally. When you order that shrimp scampi or seafood alfredo, YOUR shellfish is defrosted and most likely over cooked in the microwave because they don't defrost anything properly! If you love garbage for breakfast, lunch, or dinner then dine here. If not, eat at the BUFFET across the way... at least there food isn't prepared from a month ago and then fed to you!

Very disappointed. Place was empty and service was slow but friendly. Food quality pretty bad as we all ordered American staples.

My family and I would often eat here on Sunday's for breakfast/brunch. Usually I'd give it two stars--the food isn't terrible, just mediocre. But after my experience today, I'm going to have to give it one star and here is why: the service. Of the multiple times I've eaten there, every time our orders would come out wrong. Like I said, the food isn't terrible, just mediocre--I've definitely had better. We would order typical things--French toast, over medium eggs, and omelets, and they would all be wrong in one way or another. The French toast I ordered had so little egg that it tasted like toast with syrup and the over medium eggs and omelets would have runny egg whites. Whatever. The real problem arises when we have to wait 50 plus minutes with an inattentive waitress only to get incorrect orders. For example, when I was brought my omelet today, it had American cheese instead of feta. When I asked if they could please fix it, I was told they would remake it. It came back out about 1 minute later and it was the same omelet with runny feta cheese placed on top of the American cheese. When I pointed this out, the waitress insisted it was a new omelet. We went back and forth multiple times before she left to get the manager. When the manager approached our table she had a rather aggressive attitude--insisting that I must have ordered the omelet wrong to begin with. She admitted it was not a new omelet and said, "I didn't want you to wait 20 or more minutes for a new omelet", to which I replied, "I don't appreciate being lied to about my food and no omelet should take 20 freaking minutes to make." When someone else at our table pointed out that her over medium eggs were still runny (the white, not the yolk--which is supposed to me runny), the manager looked at her food and said, "no they're not. they're fine." After the manager left our waitress refused to come back to our table and stated to another waitress, loudly enough for us to hear, "I'm not going back, they can kiss my white ass". Upon leaving and trying to pay the bill, the manager was very confrontational, raising her voice and continuing to argue. When I said I did not want to pay for the omelet, she continued to argue with me and grabbed my arm to emphasize her point. The bottom line is, I have NEVER experienced such awful service in my life. I am not a picky eater and I do not order complicated meals but when I order breakfast from a place that serves breakfast, I expect them to be able to handle things like eggs and French toast. I will never eat at the Garden Grille again and I will warn my friends and family to stay away.

I frequent Garden Grille pretty regularly. The decor is pretty outdated and its an older place, but the food is good. Its not a gourment kind of place so if you are expecting that, you will be disappointed. But the service is great and while its older, the restaurant (and restrooms) are clean. The food is great and the prices are awesome! I tend to prefer the breakfast over lunch or dinner. Breakfast is very generous and is served all day. For lunch, I've only ever had the gyro platter and chicken souvlaki. Both were okay. But the breakfast is their main attraction.

We have been looking for a great breakfast place and found it! We have eaten here several times on busy weekends the last couple of months. The wait staff is very attentive, the food is generously portioned and good, the selection has many options spanning from Greek to American cuisine. Today the owner took time to spend a few minutes with us and connect. It's a great representation of a local Tampa gem! We will continue to come back to this inviting dining spot. #happycustomers

This place is one of that fast-dying breed, the family-owned diner where you can get breakfast any time of day and the waitresses are warm and personal. If you want a sterile corporate feeding trough this isn't it, but the food is probably faster in arriving on your table than most chain-food restaurants. I highly recommend the 2+2+2; the crêpes are excellent and the eggs aren't dried out. Goldilocks-style: "just right". Food is best when prepared with personal attention and the chef does just that. There are stools at the counter or booths you can disappear in easily and the coffee or tea (fresh-brewed) is replenished when needed without having to ask. Not into breakfast? That's okay; check out the lunch and dinner platters. If you come in later in the day you might be lucky enough to enjoy the music (no, not live, but radio at a comfortable level.). Comfy food, down-home atmosphere, and friendly staff.

So I am not sure if this place has just deteriorated over the years but my inlaws used to love this place. They've lived in oldsmar for over 20 years and so I took my mom for brunch and we were so disappointed. My mom ordered a mushroom and cheese omelet and I ordered the nova lox with bagel and cream cheese. First of all, the omelet had two perfect squares of American cheese on top! Yuck! Who puts American cheese on an omelet? Also, the mushrooms were clearly from a can. It was awful. The hashbrowns were ok. I ordered the nova lox with bagel and cream cheese. The waitress brought it out with just the bagel and the salmon. (The bagel had hardly any cream cheese). I asked for red onion and capers to be added. She wasn't sure they had it but took the order back and they did, luckily. Lastly, we ordered a breakfast sandwich to go. Honestly, what. The. Heck? They put scrambled eggs on two pieces of Texas toast with two sausage patties and American cheese. AGAIN! With the American cheese?! Gross! The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because the staff were attentive and very friendly.

If you've been on Hillsborough in Town n' Country, you've most likely driven past the Garden Grille Cafe. I've driven past it more times than I can remember, and while I had to take a late lunch, figured I would give it a shot. Seems like this is a better place for breakfast, but is a typical diner. As you walk up, you see the "Garden" which has a nice little fountain. I will say this, the landscaping outside of places like this and Lee Garden do help them stand out from an exterior standpoint. Again, inside is typical diner, though the book exchange in the corner is a nice touch. Lunch menu has a variety of sandwiches, both hot and cold, salads, soups, fried chicken, and a surprising selection of Italian pasta dishes. As I do sandwiches most days of the week, decided to get the honey dipped fried chicken plate, with veggies and rice, and a cup of the New England clam chowder. While the carrots made the chowder sweeter than I usually prefer, the fact that it was an actual thick clam chowder won me over. As seen in my picture, I could put my spoon straight in and it didn't fall over. The chicken was good for the price - not huge, but definitely had leftovers. If you want something simple and affordable, I recommend this place.

Dirty and outdated, and it took entirely too long to get a reuben that was soggy and missing the thousand island dressing. Husband had texas skillet which was a pile of mushy potatoes, fresh vegetables and corned beef hash topped with eggs. Adding insult to injury was the $2.49 charged to add greasy and flavorless homefries to the $6.99 reuben. I couldn't even add ketchup because I was afraid to pick up the bottle.

Neighborhood diner at it's best. No frills..just really good food in abundant amounts, friendly helpful wait staff and an owner who is happy to eat any mistskes!.My husband eats NO cheese and the cook prepared his chorizo scramble with cheese..the owner came to the table to apologize for the mistake and thank us for breakfast. It is a favorite of ours and we have never bee m disappointed.

One of my favorite places for breakfast! I usually go on Saturday or Sunday morning after a night out and their food hits the spot. My favorite dish is the Chorizo Skillet which has link chorizo cut into chunks and sautéed with onions, bell pepper, and tomato. It's served over cheese-covered hashbrowns and then two eggs over all of that, plus toast. It is so flavorful and delicious. The portion is large and I rarely finish it all. The staff is very friendly and after just a few times going, they treated me like a regular, memorizing my order and getting to know me on a personal level. All the women that work there work very hard and they are attentive and want to be sure you are pleased.

Since moving to Westchase about a month ago, we have been looking for a weekend breakfast joint. Our criteria? Cheap, good food, and no wait for tables. This place meets these criteria pretty well. We walked in at 12:30 on a Sunday and sat immediately. I had the Western Skillet (hash browns, eggs, cheese, bacon and toast) for $7.99. My hubby had blackberry pancakes for $6.99. Bonus: they serve beer, wine and mimosas! Less than $3 for a Bud light. Overall, super clean, cute, and bright with great food. Will definitely go back.

I have been passing this place for months and finally decided to stop for breakfast on my last day off. The restaurant is sort of has an home town country feel to it. The prices were about average. I ordered the Western Skillet. It turned out to be a load of hash-browns on a plate topped with a cut up processed chicken fried steak, topped with a scrambled egg. I personally thought it looked like a plate of someone Else's leftovers. With that being said, my partner ordered biscuits and gravy. He got a plate with 2 biscuits sliced in half with gravy on top for $5.99. The 2 plates and a coffee plus tips was $25.00. Honestly, I did not eat most of my plate and left wishing I would have stopped at McDonald's for a Sausage, egg and Cheese biscuit. I have no desire to go back.

Driven past this place numerous times and finally stopped by for breakfast. Great breakfast spot, typical breakfast menu with various choices and combinations of egg dishes. The restaurant itself is very clean with and modern, the wait staff is friendly and attentive. Great food and good prices.

Cute little diner with the typical fare. I randomly came here with a girlfriend because the chili's across the street way crazy busy. It was better than anything i could have recieved at chili's, though, which made me forget my frustration. I had the french dip sandwhich...the ingridients were fresh and the bread...oo, buttery and delicious. And as simple as french fries may be, they were GOOD! Our waitress was friendly and made conversation, overall decent service. Although on the otherside of town from where i live, id definitely stop in again if i happen to be in the area.

Garden Grill is one of those divey places that you might be scared to try, but will thoroughly enjoy once you are in it. This is going to be your old style American diner but with a few unique tastes. One of the more intimidating aspects for some people is that you seat yourself. Once you get past that though, you will really enjoy the food. All of your typical diner food is here, and most of it is really great. Breakfast is made up of your typical egg selections, omelettes, and other items. I really recommend the gyro omelette, its a great take on a classic item. Lunch and dinner again aren't going to offer too many surprises, although like breakfast, gyro's and gyro platters are available and taste great. Don't expect to run in, eat, and be out. There are normally only two servers working, and getting your order taken can take a bit of time, but the wait is well worth it. I've never had a bad meal here, and I frequent it pretty often. Again, if you have a little while to kill, and want some great diner food, this is a great place.

Great neighborhood breakfast diner! I had the chorizo skillet which was piled high with onions, peppers, shredded chorizo, cheese, potatoes, and eggs on top. Huge portion, and it even comes with toast on the side! Coffee was better than decent, flavorful, and not watered down swill. I recommend this as a quick breakfast place. Note, expect to pay about $10 for breakfast and coffee, plus tip.

The typical breakfast and lunch selections. The place was clean, the food was good, especially the yummy fries, and the service was great. This was the most reasonably price stop on our trip so far. We got a kick out of the snowman they had painted on their window. Being from New York, we didn't expect snow in Florida.

Just had breakfast, coffee very weak, ceiling fans filthy, bathroom filthy, coffee cup was chipped. Service was wonderful however, I will never go back.

With a name like Garden Grille, I have to admit I was expecting some healthy, farm to table options.... I was wrong. This is more of your classic, roadside diner. I had the eggs Benedict based on previous yelpers suggestions. It was good! It came with cheese (not mentioned on the menu) and some yummy, albeit slightly overcooked, greasy potatoes. Prices are cheap and the service was friendly, diner-esk. The food was good, even if it was a heart attack waiting to happen.

If I could give zero stars I probably would. We ordered the breakfast special and the shrimp scampi off the menu and our food took 45 Minutes. The server never came back to after taking our drink order at the same time as the meal order. I couldn't even return my meal or ask for something else because the server never came back. I literally ate one bite of my entree. My husband didn't care for his either but still ate some, as at this point we were just starving. We waited for a out 15 more minutes before asking for the check. The table behind us had to send back their bread because it had mold on it... There was also a hair in our food.. Terrible food. Terrible service. Place looks dirty and outdated.

After church today, we decided to go out to breakfast. Originally we tried to get into Nikki's but there was a herd of people outside, so we kept on driving. We stopped here and luckily it was only a 5 mon wait. The place was packed and was small but they maximized their space as much as they could. The menu is your basic diner food-eggs various ways, corned beef hash, pancakes, omelettes etc. My husband orders the gyro and feta omelette with hashbrowns and I had the farmer's omelette (which was basically an everything omelette). I asked for home fries with mine. Both cost $9 each. Nothing was wrong with our meal, but nothing was stellar either. It's a typical diner/breakfast joint. Would I return? Sure but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Server was very friendly. Menu was affordable. We came across this place after getting lost from Tampa airport. My 8 year old wanted pancakes and it was 6pm. The place was a dump. It smelled like mildew and 1970s airconditioning. The booths had duct tape sloppily covering rips. Restroom was dirty. Coffee was lukewarm but my daughter said the chocolate milk was great. The food was actually pretty good. She got pancakes and bacon and I got a veggie omelette. No complaints, especially considering the price So, refurbish, paint, and CLEAN the whole place I might have given it 4 or maybe even 5 stars.

Nicki's was packed today so a short drive down the road is Garden Grill Cafe. This place has been here forever! We were in the breakfast mood and their building has the word "breakfast" painted really big on the side, so of course, we stopped in. It's roomy inside but still retains a homey feeling of an old time diner. But not on purpose, I mean, not like an old time diner in Disney. More like an old time diner because they've been here for a long time. And the decor shows it. But not in a bad way. It's what Disney is trying to imitate, but here it's real. The menu is pretty extensive, so we homed in on the omelettes. They have a very wide variety. They only advertise egg substitute, but they'll do egg whites on request. I'm trying to shed 50 pounds of extra baggage around my waist (yes Yelp, I blame you for that, not my lack of self control) so a fresh garlic, feta, spinach, and tomato egg white omelette with sliced tomato (won't review the bacon or hash browns this time). Check out the pics. The omelette wasn't huge, but I'm giving it two enthusiastic thumbs up. Why? I ordered it with fresh garlic. There was no doubt that thing had garlic. And everyone I spoke to later that day confirmed it. Service is very prompt and courteous. Food came out relatively quick. I'm coming back. It's great to have another breakfast alternative to the chain restaurants. I'm a fan.

This is our favorite breakfast spot in the city. The have the best eggs Benedict I have ever eaten.
