The moment we entered the restaurant, my husband and I were welcomed with great aroma of Indian Spices. My husband and I went to this restaurant for dinner on a friday date night and we were very pleased. The servers were nice and the food was EXCELLENT. Everything we ordered were delicious. It was my first time to eat authentic indian dishes, and it is sure, it won't be my last.

Let me start with the best part and if that was the only part to rate on, I will give 5. That is the service and the nice staff. They were courteous and super attentive and asked many times if anything was needed. Now that main part This is my first time here and perhaps the last (unless I am too hungry and in the area with nothing else to eat) That tells you about food. I was here for buffet - Sambar tasted of ..ummm.. Salt Chicken tandoori was .. At the best boiled before dropped in tandoor for crust on skin, goat curry ... Ummm .. Goat meat was missing had all other ingredients and esp bones, and did I tell of Kheer - I mean even I can boil rice, add cold milk and lots and lots of Kewda If that's not enough bashing - I am not a cleanliness freak but there were one or two dead ants in the eating bowl - oh wait there was some meat Owners you have a nice location and good place - make your food better - don't let India down

Mediocre Indian food. Avoid- Indo-Chinese [ Items like Gobi Manchurian, Fried Rice, and Lollypop]. Try - Lunch Buffet, North Indian curries

This restaurant previously name Cilantro. It has changed its name to Dhaniya Drums Indian food. The new management started 2 months ago. The setting is the same but food has change a bit. They do have some chicken dish. For the buffet, they have served the lollipop chicken and tandoori chicken. They also serve butter curry tofu, red curry with eggplants; their nan is getting better since they bring it to your table. They also have a lot selection on veggie dish. It also has soup, desert, salad, additional chili paste to increase spiciness. The cooking is more to American Tolerance. The taste is a bit sweet instead of spicy. The tandoori chicken has it flavor enter into the deeper part of the chicken. The lollipop chicken is great, but the hot plate only keeps it warm instead of hot. I like the curry eggplants. It go well with nan and the rice. The cost is under $10 for the buffet is considering good value. I like their soup of the day. I could not make up the ingredient for the soup but it is good. I like the food to be spicier. At the chili paste to make it spicy is not the same to cook it spicy. This restaurant did not give me a return immediately for more. It is just a list for lunch if we have too many people in party that need to finish quicker then we will consider.

I love Indian food! I'm so happy to find good Indian food not too far from South Tampa. I hadn't been when the name was Cilantro but I've been a couple of times since their name/menu change. The food and the service are both great! They've also been offering a great Living Social deal which is an app, 2 entrees and 2 naans for $30. Their butter chicken is super flavorful and creamy. It isn't necessarily spicy, but if you do request spice, make sure you specify American spicy or Indian spicy because they can make it crazy hot if you want! We enjoyed the garlic naan which had great texture and just enough garlic to not overpower the food. We also tried the chicken wings which are a new addition to the menu. Wings aren't my favorite but the chicken was really moist and my husband loved them. I love mango lassi (a yogurt drink) and they also have strawberry and another flavor (can't remember), which I haven't seen before and look forward to trying. Dhaniya Drums even posts a recipe of the month on their website. This month it's my favorite, butter chicken. I made it and it was good. I don't have a tandoori oven so I couldn't quite recreate it, but the sauce was delicious. They haven't been busy the 2 times we've been for weekend dinner, so I hope they stay open.

We went to Patel Brothers to get some groceries tonight and suddenly was in the mood for Indian food. We checked out yelp and found several nearby. I selected this one and I am glad we did! I would have to say this is the best Indian food I have had in Tampa Bay! It is in what appears to be a business complex that is out of the way a little bit but worth the effort. Check it out yourself! They said their menu is 2 weeks old and the place looks like I stepped into india.

This is my first time back here since they changed their name from Cilantro. I came for their lunch buffet. I got seated really quickly. Got their mango lassi which is always nice. I immediately went to the buffet and got my plates since I was here during my lunch break. I liked all the curries and the tandoori chicken. There were two types of rice- basmati and a lemon basmati. There was so much food- salad, fried options, vegetables, sauces, relishes- and I enjoyed everything! There seemed to be more meat this time also along with all the vegetarian options. The sauces were a little spicier than the usual mild so it you might want to test things out first. Spice level was perfect for me though. One thing I did like was that there was a sign posted that said you can ask for anything to be made fresh. Another diner asked for naan since there was only a little bit left on the buffet atm. The server said he would bring fresh naan to his table. When it was brought out, they actually offered the fresh naan to every table! Fresh, warm naan is always welcome! For dessert, I was slightly sad that they didn't have rice pudding that day but they had gulab jamun which were like fried round dough balls soaked in syrup. It was my first time having these and they were amazing! I went back and got two servings! Overall, Cilantro, now known as Dhaniya Drums is and has always been my favorite Indian restaurant in Tampa Bay. Although, I prefer coming for dinner over their lunch buffet. Especially since they have chicken tikka dosa (it's hard to find dosa)! I'll probably only go to lunch occasionally since I get itis after and have to go back to work!

This restaurant boasts a great Indian buffet with enough fresh food to make it worth the trip for me. I appreciate that dessert and naan are always on the buffet. As a vegetarian, I love stuffing my face and staying full all day in this lunch buffet. I do like the entrees, too. The staff has always been super nice and attentive, even back when it was Cilantro. I have never been disappointed here. It's exactly what I'd expect and appreciate in Indian food.

Not impressed with the mystic mango. Chicken nuggets for kids was overcooked and would have been better if white chicken meat. Same goes for the entries balti chicken and chicken hakka noodles.

I have been to several Indian restaurants and tried many typical dishes, but this restaurant by far makes THE TOP of my list of favorite restaurants! Their butter chicken is DELICIOUS! And there's a mango yogurt drink made by a staff member Victor... we call it Victor Juice.... it's my personal favorite! I have become a regular here.... it's just my favorite place to have dinner now!

Reviews always amuse me...especially since I am in the restaurant industry. Reading the older reviews I would have to say I do not agree with these "one star" food critics. I did not see any major pros/cons Our experience was average food, prices, portions, courteous/efficient service. Tasty! Let's face it things change constantly with employees in the dining area and kitchen. My experience was great. My husband and I don't eat Indian a lot but when we get the craving again we'll be back.

Stopped by here for dinner recently when I was in the area. I'll preface this to include I have been here a few times in the past few years and have usually had a pretty decent experience. The restaurant is under new management so decided to come back and give it another try. It took almost 10 minutes for us to be seated and approached by someone to get drink orders. Not unusual if it's a busy time, but we were one of four tables in this rather large restaurant. We ordered a mixed grill for appetizers and a host of other vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes for our entrees to share. The mixed grill does not include any lamb kebabs as you would expect so be forewarned. The chicken tikka masala, which is a staple dish at all Indian restaurants, was too tomatoey and tasted way off from how it should. The rest of our dishes including a lamb dish and lentil dish were all very bland and not up to par of other Indian restaurants in the area. Overall, I would say skip this place until they can get their menu under control. There are many other options in this general area.

If you want a variety of authentic Indian food then this is the place. Their new menu is so exciting. Lamb gulati is to die for. Mango lassi kills the heat and refreshes your mood. The hostess is very friendly and I personally loved the service. Don't forget to try Indian beer Taj. You don't find it any where else in Florida

Not the best Indian in town. Perhaps they are trying to appeal to the masses but my Lamb Vindalo tasted more like spiced tomato paste. This less than mediocre food was paired with a confused and inattentive staff. Sadly I won't be returning.

The first thing I have to say is that this place is hard to find. We drove twice by it, because we were looking for Cilantro, but they changed the name and erm... yea. I'm starting to feel a deja vous coming. We went to this restaurant on a Sunday, two weeks ago, and they were also serving a buffet. No idea if this is the norm here in Tampa but it's extremely disappointing to walk in a restaurant and seeing that there is a buffet. Luckily, I was able to order a la carte. However, even if it was lucky because I was dying for the Lamb Rogan Josh, the service was so bad that my dish arrived when everyone in my party was either done or having their desserts. The hostess sat us promptly and took our orders of Mango Lassi. It was really delicious, the best one I've had in the States so far. After that, as most people in my party opted for the buffet, I went in search of the hostess as she took the orders as well, to let her know that I already knew what I wanted. Then she told me that she couldn't take my order. I had to wait for the gentleman who was in the kitchen to come and take my order. I waited... and then I waited some more until he finally came to see me. By this time everyone at the table was eating. After ordering, it took another ridiculous amount of time for the food to be served. We used to order food from this restaurant when it was called Cilantro's, unfortunately after this visit, I don't think we'll return as the food is not the same quality as it used to be and quite frankly, I don't like to have to wait almost 40 min for food.

I was excited to see the change in name and was looking forward to improved food. I visited once about 1-2 years ago, and thought I would give it another try. Unfortunately, this will be my last attempt. I placed the order over the phone. I was immediately greeted and asked how many were in my party. 1 star. My order of chicken saag and garlic naan was ready at arrival. I was surprised at the small takeout boxes but happy to see the order was correct. 1 star. I love Indian food, but was disappointed. The chicken saag was very salty and all dark meat. The naan tasted plain and wet (for lack of a better word) until I ran into a large section of half cooked garlic. Midway through my meal, I encountered hair. Needless to say, lunch was over.

I've been here once a couple years ago when it was still known as Cilantro. My sister and I ordered C-2 Chi Vindaloo and C-3 Doi Murg...why am I writing a review now? I never got around to it and I just found the old receipt going through my crap, haha. I just remember being unimpressed by the meat portions as a lot of the volume was sauce, although it was good I felt like it skimped on the meat. And for $13/dish I really did expect more. Service was friendly, and additional rice was offered free of charge to take home with my leftovers, which I appreciated but declined bc I wasn't a fan of the rice. I like my rice to have some moisture, but from what I recall what I was served was a bit dry and stiff. I may give them another shot some day if I happen to be in the area.

Good food, great service. The best indian food in tampa. The buffet is much better than the a la carte as you get to taste everything for a great price. Highly recommend.

A solid Indian lunch buffet. The food on the buffet was tasty, some items more than others (personal tastes differ). They had a respectable amount of vegetarian options. The buffet also has plenty of different food options that other Indian buffets don't have. The service was awesome! I really enjoyed Cilantro. I'll eat here again.

Great Indian buffet. I've noticed that Indian buffets are a either a hit or miss. This one is as good as it comes. They have a very friendly staff and a clean atmosphere. I was truly surprised by the amount of options especially for the affordable price. I would go to Cilantro all the time if it wasn't 15 miles away from me. I recommend the lunch buffet - can't beat the price, assortment of food and friendly staff.

Good food, nice big restaurant with lots of space. I was put off by the final bill... I misread the price when ordering my main and it ended up being $50 for two people. I'm not used to paying that... But it was dinner time, so I guess that's normal. Still its good Indian food :) I'm going back with a coupon or for lunch!!

This place deserves a better rating. I went for dinner with my husband and the saag and dosa were on point. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. Best Naan in Tampa. The spice was just right.

This is probably my least favorite Indian lunch buffet near USF. Pros: good naan, rice, lentils. Very attentive, friendly staff. Cons: super bland food. Today the only meat dishes were chicken -- there was no lamb or goat. Even the chutney/relish was bland. Most of the veggie dishes were more starch (potato) than actual vegetable.

My wife, daughter, and I visited Cilantro this past weekend for Father's Day, and I am happy that we made the decision to come here and try a place that we have never dined at before. Without a doubt, the overall experience was very positive! The employees are extremely friendly and provide an exceptionally warm atmosphere which is a definite contrast to other Indian restaurants in the area. The buffet was of high quality and very filling. In fact, I believe that it was the best butter chicken that I have ever consumed, and I have had my share over the years. To top it all off, the bill was very reasonable and consequently made me smile. :) We will definitely be back!

We just moved to the Temple Terrace area from upstate NY and quite honestly where we came from has set the bar high for Indian food. BUT we were quite happy with our meal! Everything was very tasty, served hot, and tasted fresh! We were very delighted to also get a complimentary h'orderve, since our meal was cooked fresh and took a little bit to come out. We order a chicken dish (makhani is my fav and not on the menu and they made anyway...very nice) and a vegetarian dish. We also ordered plain Naan which was hot and fresh AND a Mango Lassi which was delish. The service was very nice and we were well taken care of. We will be back!

New owners. Impending new name- Dhaniya. Went for the weekday lunch buffet. Dal and sambhar watery. Nothing exceptional about the rest of the standard Indian fare. Oops, I forgot- the Masala Chai was good. Service was okay. They better improve the quality of food, or they'll be closing doors shortly.

Went here for lunch & tried the buffet. They have a very interesting burger bar on the buffet. I tried the chicken burger & a tika burger. Lots of Indian spices & very flavorful. I also enjoyed the butter chicken & the nan.

I stopped in for lunch just traveling through. The buffet did not look very appetizing so I ordered from the menu. Eggplant (Balti Baingan) was very tasty. But the rice they first brought out was cold and served in a not so clean dish. The nan was old, disgusting and had a sourish smell to it. This was a miss for me, but I hear they are changing the name of the restaurant to Dhaniya Drums Indian Food, maybe with the new name they will have a new attitude.

What a great find. When you find an Indian restaurant owned and operated by a warm, welcoming, knowledgeable Indian, whose passion just happens to be cooking, then you are in for a good experience. Cilantro offers great dishes from different regions of India, which I find wonderful. I consider myself a fairly educated Indian cuisine diner, but there were awesome dishes that I had never seen or tasted. Everything was made fresh and the service was immaculate. The owner, seeing the perplexed look on my face, kindly came over and explained some of the dishes to me, and even helped with creating some of the more complex creations on the buffet. This kind of attention and care is priceless. Needless to say, I will be back next time I am in Tampa.

Olly T.
Not good. The raita was watery and chalky. The chicken tikka masala had little chicken and more peppers and onions. The biriyani has good flavor but I think they put left over chicken in it. The chana was under seasoned, and the naan had been warmed up one too many times. It and the aloo paratha were old, greasy and falling apart. And don't get takeout because they will just serve you the food from the buffet even though you are paying for full priced entrees that should be freshly made. I gave this place two chances and that's it. It's just not good.

We were very pleased with our lunch. Each of us found at least several items we liked and everything seemed fresh. The specialty mango tea was delicious. They walked around with fresh naan periodically and the service was cheerful and efficient. Loss of one star because the room with the buffet was not as pleasing as the rest of the experience. Enjoyed our meal very much - we'll be back.
(4)
Pogie T.
I'll give it 4 stars because the food was very tasty and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There are not a lot of items but certainly enough to satisfy us, both a vegetarian and a meat-eater. The name will soon change to Dhaniya, and the new owners now run it. I never went there under the old owners, but it they continue to do as well as they did today, it will thrive. This was a Sunday and it was chock-full of Indian families, kids, etc.

I love it! I had it tonight and definitely the best Indian food I've had in Tampa so far. I would probably say that it is the best considering the rest of the yelp reviews I've seen on other Indian places. The only thing I didn't like was that the rice was kind of dry, but the Chicken Sag was wondrous. You should try it! Super friendly service as well. I got take out though and it was quite the drive from Ybor, but it was the best reviewed Indian place, so I felt the need!

I didn't think I liked Indian food prior to visiting this restaurant. I tried samosas and a few other Indian foods during high school when friends would bring them to class and never really liked anything I tried. One reason is because I have a natural aversion to spicy foods. My friend from South Korea really likes Indian food though so he convinced me to go and try Indian food again. We arrived at Cilantro and were seated quickly. The waitress was very friendly and helpful to an Indian noob like myself. After perusing the menu I decided I was only going to order dessert and ordered Gulab Jamun (Round dumplings of Indian cottage cheese, fried and immersed in sweet cardamom-flavored syrup). Unfortunately, they were low on this dessert and so I ordered their Chocolate Temptation dessert (Two decadent layers of dark chocolate cake, with chocolate pudding in each layer and separated by chocolate cream cheese icing) instead. They still gave me the last Gulab Jamun left just to be nice! My friend ordered their Chicken Tikka Dosa (Crispy crepes made of rice and lentils, stuffed with grilled shrimp served on a bed of hot & tangy sauce char-cooked chicken with potatoes). He ordered it with mild spiciness. While we waited we snacked on these Indian chips that were delicious. They came with 3 dips, which were all equally good. After a short time our food came. My dessert was excellent! The Gulab Jamun was fantastic and sweet. It tasted like a soaked donut...but much better than just any donut. The Chocolate Temptation has to be one of the richest desserts I have ever had. It was almost a chocolate overkill, but not quite there so still enjoyable. My friend wanted me to try his Chicken Tikka Dosa...once I took a bit I couldn't stop. It was that good. We split it after he decided it was too much for him anyway. Every bite of this Chicken Tikka Dosa was superb and all three ingredients worked together perfectly...and thus I learned that I actually like Indian food and there is some potential for me to enjoy this cuisine. I'd definitely return in the future!

I would give this at least a 3 star rating but the previous review saying that the kitchen closes out at 12:00 noon and that they get stingy with the food that they put on to their serving trays is very true! I was there with my family a little past 12 noon and by 12:20 they were no longer filling up their serving trays. I mean seriously, why advertise buffet if this is how you are set up?

Whem this place was still Cilantro I gave it a horrible review because the management sucked. But now I've edited my review because they've improved so much under the new name and direction. Great food, and perfect for people worried about trying new foods. The lunch buffet is their best deal and they change a part of it weekly to reflect the different tastes and cultures within India. A must go if you're in Tampa and love experimenting with delicious food.

The food is just ok the tandoori chicken that I ordered was uncooked and taste like they just marinated and put it in oven :( and as we were requested for spicy food we got food full of red chilli powder.. Who told them that spicy only means chilli ? There are n' number of spices and combination of spices in india which make foof full of flavor and as well as spicy. You can visit this place if u want Indian food badly and doesn't care how it taste like..

Order the Dosa fillings separate and enjoy the bud and taste. There was something about this last visit that wants me to ask the kitchen to work on their sauces a little more. Consistancy I believe will win more new fans. Still a great place for a large party and one of the only local restaurants with a decent Dosa

So I have been here before a business a dinner, it's been a few years. The food the first time was great. I showed up with my boyfriend with our own wine this time, no reservations on a Saturday night...they were GREAT!! We paid a corkage fee but they complimented our wine with their food...awesome. The best experience ever. Thank you Peter for a great evening and the manager gave us a taste of her recipe of paneer as an appetizer. Just wonderful. Thank you for a delicious experience. We will be back.

Probably the best Indian food we have found so far in the Tampa area. Very classy place with a very deep menu, plus a nice lunch buffet. Prices are a bit high for dinner, but the buffet lets you sample at a bargain rate. Loved the soups, chutneys & sauces, which made the meat, legume & rice/grains/starch dishes and let you modify the level of heat/spiciness. Fine curry seasoning in some but not all dishes and delectable desserts. Very good service with explanations for unfamiliar dishes. You can get fresh coconut milk, served in a freshly chopped green nut. A bit hard to find in Temple Terrace, in a strip shopping area set back from 56th Street north of the main part of the city. And if you are not a fan of the herb cilantro permeating foods, do not worry....it is just the name of the place, not the dominant flavor.

Nasty food. Have eaten Indian food all over the States this is hands down the nastiest shit I've ever eaten. The Aloo Gobhi and Bhindi were ordered as separate dishes but when they arrives ten minutes later was cooked in the exact same gravy very heavy with cloves. Yuck.

My favorite restaurant in Tampa. It doesn't bother me that I have to drive to Temple Terrace, or park in a weird business complex, because it is that good. I love Indian food more than any other cuisine and this does it right. It matches the curries I've had in Asia and while some of the best Indian food I've eaten has been from England, this is a good runner up. I always try to go for the buffet but we go at dinner a lot and the buffet isn't an option then (at least it hasn't when we've been during the week). There are always lots of options on the buffet, nothing to spicy if you are looking for that which is a shame because they can do spicy amazingly well. My only complaint about the buffet is the slow coming of naan. Sometimes it's plentiful, sometimes they let it get a little stale before replacing. To their credit, I complained once and they brought our table a fresh plate of it, which I consumed by myself. If you are going for dinner, get the garlic naan. Worth the extra .25. Trust me. For dinner, I've ordered the following and really loved every bite. Balti Baingan; an eggplant dish. I ordered hot (which isn't the hottest it goes) and holy fire balls it was hot. I loved it. Every fiery bite. Chana Masala; chickpeas and spices. Amazing flavor, a good dish for people not accustomed yet to Indian spices. Bhindi Piazza; baked okra and spices. This is on the buffet nearly every time we go and the fresh tasting okra blows me away. It's super green and delicious.

Stopped in for lunch and had the buffet. Can't say I was impressed at all. Viewed the menu, which looked good. I may come back to see if dinner is better another day. As for the buffet, I'll pass the next time.

Tried out the lunch buffet with a friend and liked how it is split up into a vegetarian and non-vegetarian section. The food was alright as far as buffets' go. I liked the chutneys as they were home made and not the generic out of the bottle stuff that other restaurants try to feed you. The food was extremely bland, would have liked more spice in some of the food items. I will likely go to this place again for the lunch buffet. Not that exciting that I would make a special trip just for this place.

The food was terrible. Portion sizes were the smallest that we've ever had. We ordered the Paneer Khurchan and the Balti Baingan and both the dishes were tepidly served with the Dal being bland as ever. That said, the decor was elaborate and well done and the staff were friendly!

This is, by far, my favorite Indian restaurant! My husband and I used to go there every other week. They are always very consist with the food. If you order once, and you like it, you can order every time, because it's going to taste the same! Delicious! The Chilly mushrooms are just TO DIE for it! The texture outside is crunchy and the inside is soft! Does not taste like mushroom at all!! You will not regret! :) Peter is always very attentive! Absolutely love this place!

In my opinion best Indian food in the area. I love love love it! The buffet it $9.62 if you drink water which I do. They have lots of Different choices my favorites are the butter chicken and the chiken korma. During none buffet hours I usually get one of their lamb dishes, very tender and tasty. I can't wait to go again soon.

If you want slow service, very bland food with rude and insincere staff then come to Cilantro located at 11009 N 56th St, Tampa, FL 33617 . If you want superb food, welcoming staff in a friendly atmosphere then go to some other places. Ate at Cilantro for the first time in with a group of 7 friends on a special occasion. Almost every dish served had a fault. After taking our seats we had to wait 20 mins for our drinks. Food was served cold. No on finished their food and not because there was lots of it but because it just didn't taste that nice! All the food we ordered was stuffed with Indian spices over 500% so you taste your food like you are eating just spices. Staff were grumpy, rude and very inefficient mainly the Manager and the lady who claimed that she is the owner of that place. The only good thing about Cilantro was.... wish there was anything that i could talk about, it's so SAD!! This is my first ever review for the worst ever restaurant. By far this is the most disgusting food we ever had. The owner is all about making money and insulting the great indian food. I bet on one ever eats more than once in this place. The poor tourists are "Ripped off"with their extremely over priced menu and annoyingly late service for the sick food. I'm afraid that the first timers will be scared to touch indian food again. I am of Indian ethnicity and have been around good Indian food since birth. Here's the "fun" part, THEY ADD a 18% GRATUITY to your bill...you do not get to show your displeasure through your tip...or lack thereof...THEY ADD IT TO YOUR BILL!! When I saw that, I asked the server if we do not get the option of giving a tip, he simply smiled and said nothing. Of course, if the tip is added to the bill, they do not have an incentive to provide you with good service. Also, using American Express card will cost you extra $7.5 flat rate. There has to be an action against such restaurants. I learnt a lesson today to write reviews and help other travelers from such bad experiences.

A pretty avg Indian buffet. Very disappointed in no saag paneer on the buffet line, esp considering how vege and vegan friendly the place is. The goat dish was far too boney. Too much consentration while eating. The butter chx was tasty as were the cabbage and lentil dishes. The naan was fresh as well. The decor is quite lacking. Not a very inviting place. No windows and lots of different dining rooms. Cilantro is not a place I'd return too or at least not a recommended spit I'd tout. Right now I'd leave Tun-Dur-Ee on Kennedy/Bay To Bay at the top if the list. Albert

This is the first place I've ever had Indian food and, I didn't know it at the time, but Cilantro's spoiled me. It is still my favorite Indian restaurant. The peshawari naan is to die for. It is something I crave. This restaurant isn't convenient to where I live but I make the special trip for this naan. It's that good. From the menu: "Nan bread stuffed with finely-ground raisins, nuts and cheese". The chicken korma and sag paneer are also very good. I have a hard time deciding between the two when I go. Aside from the amazing food, the staff is very accommodating and friendly. I usually go w/ a large group of people from work and it has never been an issue.

This place has opened my eyes to Indian food. One of my buddies used to work here when we were living in Temple Terrace and he would just order for us. I never knew what he ordered but my god. Everything was just spectacular! I've only had Indian food outside of home cooking a couple places other than Cilantro, but nowhere else has the fare stood out.

This review is only based on their lunch buffet. I'll start with the positives. Great variety in lunch options - both meat eaters and vegetarians can be satisfied with selection. The food on the buffet is seasoned just right - not too spicy at all. They have salads, chutney, and desserts to choose from too. I really love their butter chicken, when they have it on the buffet. Now, why I only gave two stars. I've been there twice in the last month for their buffet. Both times the food was barely room temperature. The first time, we got there just as they opened. So it was alarming that the food was so cold. Then we were just there last week, near the end of the lunch buffet and again, cold food. It's very unappetizing to get cool food from a buffet - and against food code regulations. I've been going to Cilantro for 4 years now, and this seems to be a more recent issue. I hope they get their act together - they have great food. But it's unsafe to serve it at that temperature.

Went today with my kids for dinner. Had the Tandoori Vegetables, Tandoori Mixed Grill and Chicken Tikka Masala for dinner and Chocolate Temptation for dessert. Food had a awesome taste and it was hot. Service was great as well. No complaints.

Never really had much Indian food so can't compare, but the lunch buffet was very good. There are two unlabeled buckets of sauce and I HIGHLY recommend you try both of them. I could eat the red sauce on everything. Very nice atmosphere for very little money. Fancy but comfortable and relatively inexpensive for how good the service is.

You can't go wrong starting off with some chicken lollypops followed by the tandoori mixed grill. I liked that the menu here is pretty clear about which dishes have dairy, nuts, wheat, etc.

Best Indian food in Tampa bay period. Others do not compare. try this place soon!

Best tasting Indian food I've had in a while. All the items in their buffet were hot, fresh and tasty. They also had an excellent variety of dishes. Yummy! This is soul food for the brown man.

hands down one of the best restaurants in Tampa. Give it a try!

Plain and simple, just a solid Indian restaraunt all-around. Good and friendly service, good food, what more do you need? While not absolutely blown away by the food, I wouldn't complain at all if someone wanted to go here for a bite. Protip: If you're a fan of really spicy food like me, order one spice level higher than you normally would (I always try the 'hot' the first time I go somewhere new to guage and to me it tasted like what most other places consider medium).

Terrible. The old chef left, and the food is terrible now. The shrimp paps was tasteless, and the dosa was more like a soft taco then a dose. We do not recommend this place at all, and hope they get their old mojo back soon.

I absolutely love this restaurant! It made me switch from the other place I'd been going to for years. Every dish is fantastic, each person who works there is pleasant and considerate. I do take out and I dine in sometimes because the interior is so interesting and enjoyable. I'm very happy I came upon this restaurant.

I love this place. As soon as you get out of your car, you smell strong Indian spices. You know you've come to the right place. The service is always so friendly and helpful. They can adjust the spice level on the dishes so that's useful for people like me who don't like too much spice. The goat korma and butter chicken are by far my favorite things on the menu, and I highly recommend them with a heaping pile of the cilantro rice. I've also heard gleaming reviews of the lamb rogan josh, so give it a try. We also always get some raita to cool off the taste buds, maybe a mango lassi if we're not already stuffed by the meal. Overall, I'm giving it aces because of the quality food, helpful service, and welcoming feel.

This is the second time we went to this restaurant and I was shocked with their service and their food. My previous experience was pleasant with twice as much food in the lunch buffet. This time the food was cold. The bread was hard rock. Upon asking for fresh bread the server made a face. The female server came to refill our water but never offered to refill the coke with my guest which was embarrassing. The appetizer was over at 1:00pm. Their lunch buffet is supposed to last untill 2:30 pm. I called them beforehand but it looked like at 1:30pm while there were people and we were eating they were about to close. There were no cups to take dal. Overall we all agreed that we are never visiting this place again. The management needs to make it how it used to be before to have us come back.

Pretty good food. I have never had Indian food before so it was a little weird at first. But once you get over that, everything was pretty good. Lunch buffet is a little slim on variety but still has a slew of different flavors. I would definitely come here again. Whatever the red sauce is next to the salad bar, put it on everything, it is delicious.

It ain't Mexican!I Indian - thank goodness. have only been here once for a long dinner but am shocked no one has written about this great place on 56th Street near Temple Terrace. It is really great food and vey warm and nice service. We had chicken and cashews, and another chicken and spinach dish. It was all tasty as was the naan that they brought us. I think they have a lunch special which would be a real good deal. I love Indian food in NYC and thnk it is great that Temple Terrace have a place like Cilantro to soice up Applebee land!!! Try it. I am going back soon and will report again.

I just got back from eating dinner at Cilantro and being Indian myself, I have no complaints. The okra (bhindi) was a bit oily, but the chilli paneer appetizer, Kerala fish curry, and goat rogan jhost were all delicious! And a cold Kingfisher to accompany the food - can't go wrong! I've found my go-to Indian restaurant in Tampa - will definitely be back for some food from the motherland!

We went to Cilantro on the recommendation of a friend (well, a friend of a friend). I am surprised to hear so many polarizing, negative reviews of this restaurant as our group (6 adults and 4 children) had a good experience. Perhaps my positivity is driven by the terrible Indian food we had in Orlando the night before (see review of "New Punjab"). In comparison, the food at Cilantro was quite tasty. My wife had lamb balti gosht which was very nicely done. Good balance of spices and of a good quality. My experience was a little mixed as the goat korma was essentialy all BONES I had to work around. Is this normal? There are not many restaurants which serve goat, so I was not sure if that was a typical experience. In any case I would not recommend the dish as you will be paying for a dish which is 80% inedible. Our garlic naan was burned but we worked around that. Naan seems to be an unpredictable experience at almost all Indian restaurants and has been, in my experience, typically disappointing. The others in our group liked their meals which included chicken tikka masala and chicken korma. The service was very good, however it should be noted that we went to dinner on New Year's Day at about 5pm. It appeared that the wait staff was execting a large turnout because they were loading each empty table up with chutney and papadam. It seems to me that if you came at, let's say, 7pm you would be eating chutney and papadam which may have been sitting there for several hours. Also, from the other reviews, it seems that the wait staff is on the ball when the restaurant is totally empty (at 5pm) but you may have service issues if you dine when the restaurant is full. So I suppose my review is mixed too. We dine and travel by the recommendations of Yelp members and it is my feeling after reading the other reviews that, if we were to come here again, we'd have a 50/50 chance of having a terrible experience.

YUMMY! This is as good as it gets for me in Tampa. Indian food like they serve in London! Kumar was wonderful as was Melanie our waitress! The Somosa's were as good as any I've had, fresh and flavorful. Garlic Nan, Gaot Rogan Josh, perfectly cooked and seasoned and Chicken Tikka Masala. We had a lovely meal and a great evening. I have to agree that the decor isn't very posh, but for what they lack in decor, they make up for with delicious food and great service!

If you blink you will drive right by this place. It's nestled in what looks like an old office complex, but don't let the exterior fool you. The food is quality and the service was great. The curried lamb was tender and tasty. The goat wasn't gamey and spiced well. The tandori chicken was pretty yummy too. To top it off we had some rose water tapioca with a hint of cumin dessert that was quite interesting, but it was nice to try. Don't forget the naan...

Exceptional all around. Service and food are great. They have a pretty large lunch buffet all days of the week. Most Indian buffets skimp a bit but here they actually have quite a few dishes and even simple desserts. True to Indian beliefs they do not serve any beef. While I am not a vegetarian they cook all vegetarian dishes separately from the meat. They don't even use animal oils for their vege selections. Their menu is very detailed in case you have any allergies. Their dinner menu is very good the tandoori meats are well prepared. They have a large range of spiciness to suit your tastes. Stick with the dishes that are the most familiar, the curries and the tandoori dishes and you will not go wrong.

We had lunch there. The buffet is relatively well stocked, and the food is tasty. The place itself has the typical hallmarks of shoddy Florida workmanship including the typical slightly moldy smell. The prices are moderate to high: $10 per lunch. Soft drinks $2. There are considerably better deals to be had around USF.

India is the birth place of Chicken Tikka Masala and Curries. Indian foods are prepared with a blend of finely mixed spices quite popular across the region. The spices develop the rich taste in Indian food enough to boggle your mind. The ever-increasing fan base of Indian food around the New York city is steadily increasing because of the large number of Indians who traveled to the land of dreams. The Indians also brought their very own vibrant, colorful, and aromatic authentic dishes for the people in the West. While most of the Indian population is Vegetarian, Indian food is great for people who are looking for vegan or vegetarian food option. If you are a Meat lover, don't get disappointed yet. Indian food also boasts of some popular non-vegetarian dishes too. Few examples are the famous Butter Chicken, Mutton Biryani and Tandoori Chicken are enough to satisfy your taste buds.
Indian food has gained reputation all over the world especially in the United States. You can find many places serving the appetizing Indian food across all major cities in the US. India is a diverse country with different food culture originated from different parts of the country. While the Northern region boasts tandoori dishes and korma offering royal taste, the Western Ghats offers sea foods that is made in naturally sweet tender coconut milk. The South Indian food servers a quality of different dishes made from rice accompanied with spicy chutneys, curries and famous sambhar. Also, the Indian sweets are a delight to relish. If you ever want to have a burst of sugar syrup in mouth, don't forget to try few Bengali Sweets. Be it spicy, tangy, or sweet flavor, you can find everything in the Indian cuisine. Be assured that the melody of spices will surely bring delight to you.

Very tasty Portion sizes are okay I'd prefer a little more for a to go order other than that amazing service great for vegetarians and great prices !

(5)Jenny C.
(4)Kait A.
(4)S S.
Not impressed with the mystic mango. Chicken nuggets for kids was overcooked and would have been better if white chicken meat. Same goes for the entries balti chicken and chicken hakka noodles.
(3)Kathleen G.
(5)Steven G.
I had Lamb Biryani and shared Fish Biryani with another friend. I like the place too - pretty cozy - and our server is very friendly too. It was a good experience for me.
(4)Taira F.
(3)Ameesh P.
(2)Ishrain H.
(5)Elizabeth R.
Not the best Indian in town. Perhaps they are trying to appeal to the masses but my Lamb Vindalo tasted more like spiced tomato paste. This less than mediocre food was paired with a confused and inattentive staff. Sadly I won't be returning.
(1)Lyn J.
(2)Jill P.
(2)Annie N.

See Jon S's review...we went together! And will be back! We had a nice meal...and were well attended too!
(4)Anamika M.
Good food, great service. The best indian food in tampa. The buffet is much better than the a la carte as you get to taste everything for a great price. Highly recommend.
(4)Kevin G.
(4)Tushar K.
Really good food and service. Amazing value for money for restaurants in Tampa Bay area. Enjoyable experience overall.
(5)Brendan G.
Just stopped into this place on a business trip and was I satisfied. One of the best Indian restaurants I have tried. Very good food and good service.
(5)Marley J.
(5)Sagar S.
Awesome food with excellent service. Chicken gravy and naal combination is juicy/tasty. I would like to visit this restaurant again.
(5)Maggie G.
First time try Indian food, fabulous! The owner is very friendly, warm, help us choice the dishes , food taste very yummy!
(5)Pratigya T.
I use to love the chicken tikka masala there but the last time I went it tasted very different. Also the chicken lollipop I ordered was stuffed with chicken skin. It was just nasty. Must be the new management
(3)Amy P.
(4)Juliana L.
This place deserves a better rating. I went for dinner with my husband and the saag and dosa were on point. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. Best Naan in Tampa. The spice was just right.
(4)michelle l.
(3)Blake T.
(5)Matt H.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Go and try it! Get the lamb rogan josh and the garlic naan.
(5)Jonathan S.
(4)Salil J.
(3)Keval K.
Good And Responsive Management.....

Not really great. Lacks cleanliness, the cutlery is not properly cleaned. Will never visit this restaurant again.
(1)Kimberly B.
Went here for lunch & tried the buffet. They have a very interesting burger bar on the buffet. I tried the chicken burger & a tika burger. Lots of Indian spices & very flavorful. I also enjoyed the butter chicken & the nan.
(4)Swan S.

Delicious indian food. Maximum flavor. If you want indian food you must come here
(4)Olly T.

Great food! Was so happy with my experience at Dhaniya Drums! My family and I really enjoyed the variety of food on their menu. Wonderful service and a great meal at fair prices!
(5)Sharon K.
(4)Pogie T.

(1)John F.
(5)Akash S.
(2)Johnny C.

Yuck.

Great food. V good service. Me and my friend were driving back to Texas and found this place. One of the best Indian restaurants I have been to.
(5)Rachel H.
(5)Terrance M.
Stopped in for lunch and had the buffet. Can't say I was impressed at all. Viewed the menu, which looked good. I may come back to see if dinner is better another day. As for the buffet, I'll pass the next time.
(2)Jane E.
(3)Poojan P.
The food was terrible. Portion sizes were the smallest that we've ever had. We ordered the Paneer Khurchan and the Balti Baingan and both the dishes were tepidly served with the Dal being bland as ever. That said, the decor was elaborate and well done and the staff were friendly!
(2)Farnoush S.
(5)Daniela M.

(5)Mark A.
(5)Kristy S.

(5)Justin M.
(4)Kevin F.
You can't go wrong starting off with some chicken lollypops followed by the tandoori mixed grill. I liked that the menu here is pretty clear about which dishes have dairy, nuts, wheat, etc.
(3)Phill B.
Best Indian food in Tampa bay period. Others do not compare. try this place soon!
(5)Prashad S.
Best tasting Indian food I've had in a while. All the items in their buffet were hot, fresh and tasty. They also had an excellent variety of dishes. Yummy! This is soul food for the brown man.
(5)Malhar T.
hands down one of the best restaurants in Tampa. Give it a try!
(5)Charlie K.
(4)Katleen B.
Terrible. The old chef left, and the food is terrible now. The shrimp paps was tasteless, and the dosa was more like a soft taco then a dose. We do not recommend this place at all, and hope they get their old mojo back soon.
(1)Nicolette V.
(5)Rachel S.
(5)Hina S.
(1)Jacob M.
(4)Emily H.
(3)Jaski K.
(4)Richa K.
This is one of the best Indian restaurant's in US. The authentic Indian taste, tastefully done interiors and great service make it even more appealing. 5 stars from me!
(5)Melody M.
Delicious. Tandoori chicken tender and juicy. Garlic naan awesome. Vindaloo good but didnt taste as Im used to. Great atmosphere. Worth the drive.
(5)Michael A.
(3)Jeanine S.
(4)Phil H.
(4)Annie H.
(5)Mark S.
