I've been there Sunday morning with my family. I enjoyed it. I had breakfast foods and wasn't disappointed. Always a good crowd. Good juice and coffee. Nothing special about it though and I've since found other places I would rather have breakfast.

The food wasn't bad, I ordered a skillet. (I didn't get to really eat it at the time of my dining experience, hence the following comments.) I am a reasonable person, I always try to look for the good in people, and I understand that we often don't know the pain people feel behind the facade, however, this was by the far the worst service I've ever suffered through in my life, ever! Seriously, EVER.
Two stars might be too nice! The quality of the food is less than average and the price is high. We waited almost 40 minutes for our food to come out and it was barely warm when it did get to the table. It's slightly dirty. I'm sorry we didn't go to First Watch because we would have paid the same for better quality food and a clean atmosphere. The only bright side was our waitress was very nice and attentive.

So I'm kind of on the fence with this one. While the food was good, there were allot of other factors that make it not good enough. This place is super busy, but after sitting there waiting for awhile, and what normally should be an hour max, for breakfast, took almost two. You will definitely wait 20min for a table, and while the servers are attentive and friendly, you will wait another 35-40 minutes for your food once you place the order. While watching, I noticed not allot of food coming out of the kitchen..seems really slow. I think half the battle and reason why it's so busy, is because the kitchen can't keep up. Also, you can spend about $8 on three chocolate chip pancakes and get nothing else with it, I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous! So I ended up getting eggs Benny with salmon. It was OK. Honestly, I enjoyed the same thing allot better at Daily Eats, who are just as busy, half the size, but allot faster. This place makes breakfast feel like a project, our whole experience with this place took almost two hours. Breakfast should not be complicated, and while the food is good, it is not worth the headache that comes with it. Not when there's so many other options in Tampa.

The meat lovers (Kyle's) omelet was very good. Smaller than the "3 eggs" they claim it has in there, but very good. Coffee was also above average. Strong and not watered down at all. As for the rest of the food on the plate? Awful. Potatoes were terribly bland. I can't even describe how they tasted because I only had a few bites before I decided enough was enough.

This place is what I was expecting- a few notches above a diner, with delicious but reasonably priced breakfast and lunch foods. We went at 10:30 on a Sunday morning and only had to wait 5 minutes for a table which was nice. Our server was friendly and our food was great (I got the Florentine Benedict and the vanilla latte-both delicious). The reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it's nothing mind blowing and also this manager type young woman with long dark hair was talking very nasty to the teens working as greeters and they didn't seem to be doing anything wrong. I hate seeing 'managers' who are only teens/young 20-somethings themselves act as if they are running a militant campaign. She put me off my breakfast with her screeching voice and nasty attitude.

My business networking group meets here every week at 7:30a on Thursdays. Its been about 4 months now and the service has been great. They've even gone so far as to make a special menu just for us. It helps them streamline our orders and we get the specific items we love. They even have a small and larger room available just for groups like ours. I suggest you come by and check it out and get my personal favorite, its the club sandwich with a fried egg on it. It will fill you up for the rest of the day.

Went to Brunchies when my "first" brunch place was too crowded... I went in with good intentions...really. All I wanted was a fruit place and a whole grain bagel. A simple enough order, or so I thought. The plate of fruit came out with no rhyme or reason and to seemed like they just chopped up fruit and threw it on a plate. The strawberries still had stems, the melon still had skin and it looked like the orange slices had been "pre-squeezed" (Which is great because they have fresh squeezed OJ... I just don't want the remnants left on my plate.) The bagel was good... The only other thing that my wife likes that they don't offer are hash browns instead of homefries... and sausage patties instead of links... I know I should not complain about things things that they don't offer, but instead of offering Duck Bacon (which they do), offer more staples.

We will definitely be coming back! The place was very busy when we got there (11:30am on a Sunday) but we only had to wait about 10 minutes. It was clean, and the staff was very attentive despite being very busy. Our server was very nice and brought our drinks very quickly. The menu is a bit large, so it took me some time to decide what I wanted but she was very patient. My boyfriend got the chimichurri steak and eggs...It was excellent! I got the guava stuffed French toast...And it was HUGE and amazing! There are several other things that we want to try on the menu, so we will definitely be back!

Brunchies is my favorite place to get breakfast around the area I live. I'd much rather eat here than chains like Ihop or Dennys. A family owned joint that is always busy on the weekends, so be prepared. I love the "traditional"...eggs(scrambled), bacon, home fries, and an english muffin which I always trade out for a biscuit. The food is actually flavorful and not bland like some chain breakfast places. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and the quality is obvious, I loveeee it. I've also tried the blueberry crunch pancakes, a must if you crave a sweet breakfast. The staff is great and treats you like family. Ill always love brunchies.

Boyfriend had the buccaneer breakfast with the blueberry crunch pancakes and it was fantastic. We could have shared one meal though. I had brunch here yesterday and it was delicious. I shared a breakfast skillet and a pumpkin bacon waffle with my niece. The waffle was unbelievable. I fully recommend it. It took a while to be seated but that was expected because of the after church crowd. This restaurant is a must if you are in the Tampa area!

A friend and I came here for brunch last weekend and we were very impressed! They had a pretty large menu with a lot to choose from. We shared the guava cream cheese french toast (phenomenal) and eggs benedict with spinach and sundried tomatoes. We had never seen guava french toast before on any menu so we had to try it. I'm so glad we decided to share because it was huge! Very very sweet so if you don't have a sweet tooth this is not for you. They make their own hot sauce, fairly spicy but it added a nice kick to our benedict. I will definitely be coming back I prefer it much more than First Watch as a go to breakfast joint.

We've been visiting Brunchies through numerous name incarnations (J. Christophers, then J.C.s then Brunchies) and the menu has stayed the same, the food pretty good, and the overall experience what one would expect from a popular brunch place on the weekends. I am not a big fan of sweets (pancakes, french toast) for brunch so much of their menu is rather lost on me. But oh do I LOVE eggs. Their omelets (the Western being my go-to) are large and packed with fillings. I love that the English muffins always come out with just a tiny ring of char on the edges (I like my toast very TOASTED). The Route 66 skillet is another favorite. Some reviews refer to the fact the corned beef hash comes out of a can. Perhaps - but I actively dislike places that serve huge cubes of beef with a few scant potatoes and perhaps my tastes are just pedestrian, but when I order hash, I sort of expect it to be like the canned kind. Brunchies makes their own chorizo in-house, which does explain why it is featured in so many of the breakfast items. I tried the Breakfast Burrito on one visit and was very confused when it appeared to be diced breakfast sausage in the burrito. While I rarely send things back, I did bring the matter to the waiter's attention and the next thing I knew, the owner was peering critically at my burrito, proclaimed it "not chorizo" and whisked my plate away to have a tete-et-tete with the kitchen. From the look on his face, whichever chef thought the customer wouldn't notice the substitution got quite the earful. Very quickly, I had a fresh burrito in front of me with actual chorizo. It was very nicely done - spiced but no blow-your-head-off spicy and not as greasy as chorizo can sometimes be. Branched out recently and tried the Brunchies' Classic Club - which is anything but the same old, same old. I love a good club sandwich and theirs, with thick-cut bacon crisped up nicely, a smear of honey-mustard, and topped with a fried egg blew me away. Really good and paired with the loaded potato salad, I had a hearty lunch of 1/2 the sandwich the next day. Above average food, good service and a great location for my fam - Brunchies will remain in our top 5 for brunch.

I've been here twice with friends. The wait is better here than First Watch down the street on Dale Mabry so it's a better weekend brunch option. I tried going healthy wheat germ and blueberry pancakes to make up for my delicious but super rich chunky monkey pancakes I had previously, but that was a stupid choice on my part. I should try those blueberry crunch ones though. My friends liked their egg dishes (menu is so large I can't remember which ones, sorry). Waiters are nice and attentive.

Brunchies has an extensive menu, and everything sounded really good. From early risers, to skinny meals, to south of the border brunch menu. Sounds like a great thing, however when you order their meal it's very small in portion. Granted the prices are very cheap, it's still a small brunch portion that you get. I ordered the buccaneer feast which consisted of Blueberry pancakes or maple french toast (can also be substituted with waffles for an extra price), Choice of bacon or sausages, potatoes, and two style of eggs. All that for $8.99, pretty good but again small portions. Everything came out great, except for the bacons which tasted as if it had been frozen for a long time so it had that freezer burn taste to it. Other than that it is an ok brunch place if you are in the area. I'd return and try other items on their menu. Other people in the tables around me ordered their steak and chimichurri which looked very good.

There are few secrets about a place called "Brunchies" which are not divulged by the name itself. It is cutesy, it is all about brunch, and it is frequented by people who find rare satisfaction in contemplating the latest oeuvre of Mary Engelbreit. You may wonder why there are so many references to "J. Christopher's" in other reviews. This was very recently a link in that restaurant chain -- so recently that the charge on my card still appeared as J CHRISTOPHERS. The menu has not diverged significantly. The menu is unintentionally hilarious. The description of a bowl of granola namedrops Ewell (sic) Gibbons, a name that has seldom been uttered since the original granola craze of the 1960s and its chief proponent, Euell Gibbons. Much more alarming is the "Cheval Burger". Horse meat has recently been legalized, and if you know any French at all, you'd be forgiven for believing there were no ground-up cows in the Cheval Burger. Cheval, after all, is French for horse. I asked our server if Brunchies was serving horsemeat. Since he thought of Cheval as a nearby subdivision about which I hadn't known, he was utterly confused. To him, it meant "Agrestic Burger". To be clear: the Cheval Burger does not contain any ground-up horses. It is 100% ground-up cows. This probably comes as a great relief to you, which is why I find carnivores deeply weird. In honor of my fellow vegetarians, I had a breakfast that would make Mr. Ed's mouth water: apple-oat pancakes. They weren't bad. A little dry, perhaps, which made them a perfect match for my sense of humor.

Excellent food, the menu is almost overwhelming. My wife have the Bronx Benny, poached eggs served over lox, on a toasted plain bagel. The hollandaise sauce was out of this world. I had the buckwheat pancakes. They were delicious. The coffee is just OK, and the service was on top of our needs and very helpful and smiling. Their bagels are flown in from NY/Bronx. You could taste the difference. Highly recommend to any before dinner adventurers.

Looking for a breakfast place other than the chain restaurants, we found Brunchies on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Food was great, servers friendly and the atmosphere was great. I had shrimp and grits and they were awesome, hubby had the more traditional eggs/sausage breakfast and was also very pleased. We will be back! The server signed us up for a rewards card and also told us about the ever changing menu, so we're looking forward to going back to see what is new! Highly reccommend!

This is another "What kind of person are you?" place. Food specifics: 1) The 'home fries' are Ore-Ida frozen home fries. They were over-cooked and stale. 2) The hollandaise sauce was from a mix. 3) The corned beef hash was from a can. 4) The over-easy eggs were delivered cooked through, solid. Now, to me, this says, "Never go here again." They don't make real food there, they open cans and heat stuff up. And it doesn't take particularly good if you've developed a taste for real food. However... If you regularly eat at McDonalds, you might like this. If your idea of 'gourmet' is the Hardees ThickBurger, this will seem like an acceptable experience. If you grade the place on that curve, there's nothing wrong with Brunchies. What I'd say was wrong no matter who you are was the waiting: the quoted ten-minute wait for a table was 40 minutes, food took another 35 minutes, and it took our server 10 minutes to get us our check after eating, and another fifteen to pick it up and run the card, and that's after we finally flagged down the hostess and asked to have someone take our money. It was also incredibly loud. Wow. Yet the place was jammed--it's certainly popular. That's Tampa for you, to be sure; if ever a place like Brunchies was going to succeed it'd be in central Florida. If you're from out of town, though, that's what you're getting into.

I decided to try out this place because I noticed that they stated that they were dog friendly, (which is obviously hard to find in a restaurant) and my family was in town with our dog so we decided to try out this place. We went on a Sunday at about 9am and sat outside with our dog, and at first the hostess gave us quite a weird look, which is understandable I suppose. But then our server came out and was extremely friendly and offered our dog water and was extremely attentive. The food took about 20 minutes to come out and was delicious! I ordered the bacon bits waffles, and it was absolutely perfect. My sisters were both very pleased with their meal as well. Although I never saw the inside of the restaurant, I would still recommend this place based on the food and the customer service.

Wife and I ate breakfast on 1/29/14 at 10:30 am. Wife had plain short stack of pancakes took one bite and would not eat anymore said it was very dry/stale tasting. I had the Buccaneer Feast- 2 eggs over easy was fine, turkey sausage was dry no taste, potatoes were over cooked and the maple french toast was nothing to write home about. Only about half dozen people in the restaurant at the time and it took a long time to get waited on. Ordered Cafe Con Leche it arrived just barely warm. The waitress came by one time and asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for another coffee and she did not bring another coffee just the bill. I waited for her to come back an take the money but never saw her again, so I left the cash and small tip and left. I will not eat there again.

My wife and I rode our bikes to Brunchies on a beautiful Sunday in January and were not dissapointed. The place was pretty packed but we found a fine spot on the first come first served dining area which was perfectly adequate. The servers were friendly and somewhat fast given how busy the place was. I had the Eggs Benedict and Fried Green Tomatos which was as good as I have ever had. My wife had a more traditional breakfast with Crunchy Blueberry Pancakes which were just ok. All in all it was a great experience and suspect my wife will get the Eggs Benedict next time we go.

Ate here on Saturday morning with the boyfriend. We were seated immediately at a booth and had an outstanding server. The atmosphere is a bit frenetic, but it was a very busy Saturday morning, after all. I had the billy goat omelet (with goat cheese, mushrooms and roasted red peppers) and it was cooked to perfection. Boyfriend had the blueberry crunch pancakes, which were huge. He ate every bite and said they were great. I can't give this place 5 stars because it was more expensive than Nicki's Omelet, which is where we usually go for breakfast. Nestled in the same plaza as Bally's and next to Cafe Eden, Brucnhies is a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch spot off in Carrolwood on North Dale Mabry Blvd between Fletcher Ave. and Bearrs/Ehrlich Ave. They offer a nice selection of breakfast and lunch choices, some which distinguishes the place from other BBL (breakfast, brunch, lunch) joints in the area. Some items such as their Lobster Bruschetta add a nice change to the menu for BBL, but only for those that are willing to test the waters (i did not order the Lobster Bruschetta, this time). The wife and I both ordered traditional breakfast entrees. I originally ordered the Route 66 skillet, but they were out of corned beef hash(this saddened me quite drastic, jk) so instead I ordered the Traditional Breakfast which came with 2 eggs (I ordered scrambled well), bacon, potatoes and English muffin. My breakfast was alright seeing that these are pretty hard items to mess up. I did wish my bacon to be softer, but it was still good. They used a thick cut style bacon which I like. The potatoes were salty but not too bad, possibly a lil heavy on the seasoning. They reminded me of Irish potatoes so don't expect too much flavor. The wife ordered Strawberry crepes and I must say that they visually appealing. I'm not a fruit fan, but my wife said the dish was delicious. The strawberry compote was nice and warm. Also the strawberries were still somewhat firm and not soggy like the Cheesecake Factory's strawberries. Overall, Brunchies is a nice place for breakfast. On Sunday's do expect a 10-15 minute wait possibly due to late risers from Saturday night clubbin and church goers. The do attract a diverse crowd and with a diverse menu, rightfully so.

The thing I like about J. Christophers is that the service is always good. The people are REALLY friendly and that makes my day especially when it's my first meal. On a scale of local breakfast/brunch places, this place is above First Watch but doesn't quite meet Jackson's but it's very close. The food is fresh, taste amazing, and the prices are just right. I usually get the egg white omelet with toast and potatoes. It's good. The pancakes are also very good too. They are pretty big so have someone help you out. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and made locally. The difference between getting something in the store and the fresh squeezed is remarkable. It's a must have. The other thing I like about J. Christophers is that it makes its own hot sauce. It's soooo good! It's not a vinegar based pepper sauce. it's more like a thinner salsa with a tomato base. If you like spicy, you'll love it! And yes, they'll sell you a bottle. Many people have remarked how good it is when I let other people try it.

JCs has been pretty consistent for me. I like it better than First Watch (not that FW is bad) because they have more bkfast options and a "bar" which makes it easier for singles and couples to get in and out without having to take up an entire table. Sadly service can be a bit lacking at the bar but I've only been on weekend mornings and time is not an issue. Food is good, eggs bene usually prepared correctly.

We went back to J. Christophers today and were a bit disappointed. The first thing we noticed was how dirty the place was....so much stuff...wrappers, crumbs... on the floor and a lot of the tables still had dirty dishes. To get to our table, we actually had to walk around ketchup on the carpeting (disgusting!). We were seated in the side room and it must have been 10 degrees cooler than the main room. I asked for decaf coffee and what I got was a carafe of cold coffee. Also felt like Romper Room in there today. I still don't understand why in today's day and age, parents do not discipline their children. When I grew up, if we were at a table, we were told to sit down and sit still. These kids were standing on the chairs while Dad looked at his cell phone and Mom didn't say anything. I don't think we will go back again. We'll stick with First Watch.

The reason for the poor review of this place was not so much the food, but the service. We went at noon on a Sunday, so we were expecting a bit of a wait but surprisingly, it only took ten minutes to get seated. Unfortunately after that it took nearly an hour to get our food. I realize it was busy, but breakfast places are always busy but still manage to get patrons in and out very quickly since most of the items are quick to prepare. After waiting and waiting while watching the place clear out, we finally were able to get a waitress' attention and ask about our food. She looked panicked and said it was about to come out, but then they brought us out two sandwiches which we didn't order. A few minutes after that our order finally came out. It kind of makes one suspect that they just forgot our order and made it on the fly, but they assured us it was just because the kitchen was backlogged. To make matters worse, my wife is a vegetarian and specifically asked for no meat on her plate. When it arrived all looked well, but after taking a few bites of her grits, she went to stir it and pulled out a very large chunk of sausage that was in the middle of the bowl. When we brought this to the waitress' attention, she simply apologized and offered another bowl. She didn't seem the least bit alarmed or genuinely apologetic. I guess she noticed that we were getting irritated so she brought the check out right after that. I know the wait and the food mistake wasn't her fault, but she didn't offer to take the grits off our bill or offer us any compensation for any of this. The food I did have was great, but I'm having a hard time wanting to go back if we have to deal with all of this just to get to it.

I'm always looking for a casual brunch place near Carrollwood/Citrus Park/Northdale area. I've heard pretty good things about J. Christopher's so I thought i'd give it a go. I went in on Saturday at noon to take a break from xmas shopping. Functioning solely on coffee I was getting cranky. My buddy ordered the Route 66 Skillet. He and I both thought the corned beef hash was good, although we would have liked more chunks of corned beef. We also tried their pumpkin pancakes. Delightful! Always on a search for good grits, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp was done in a creole/cajun style in an andouille sausage gravy. The shrimp was excellent. Great flavor. The grits were horrible. Watery; They looked and tasted like instant grits.

Went here yesterday because I thought I would try something new. The atmosphere was nice even though it was alittle crowded. However, the food was just OK to me. I ordered the Turkey Monte Cristo which was anything but a Monte Cristo. Don't get me wrong I love reinventions of classics but they should consider renaming this a French Toast Turkey Sandwich because that's what it tasted like. The waitress didn't even allow me to choose the side I wanted she chose for me. I haven't had a Monte Cristo in years but the best part of it is the deep fried sandwichness. The sandwich I had at Brunchies was just two pieces of french toast with turkey, cheese and some kind of cranberry cream cheese spread on it with just a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Overall everything made the sandwich waaaaay too sweet for me. On top of that the cream cheese spread or whatever it was wasn't evenly spread on the sandwich before they cut it in half. On one half of my sandwich it was gushing out and on the other half nonexistent. To top everything off it costs me $12 for a meal I didn't enjoy or think was worth $12 in portion had I enjoyed it. Perhaps if I decide to go back I will just get the pumpkin pancakes. They've always been a fave of my mine when my mom makes them.

I ate here, yesterday (2/10/09).Took a little time to get a booth, even though there were like 2 open at the time. I heard about this place from my sister, who used to live in Tampa. I was really hyped for the creme brulee french toast. It was good, but I have to say I had some pretty high expectations, and was just slightly let down. Chelsea got the Reese pancakes, which I tried, they were pretty good as well. When it comes to dessert for breakfast, I compare everything to Bongo Room in Chicago, so it may be an unfair comparison. The dishes were plated with mediocrity. I also got my usual side of sausage, which was actually really good, and the portions were nice. Our waitress was courteous and prompt. Overall a good experience. If your in the neighborhood you should try it.

Great place for brunch. Just be aware that you might have to wait a bit to be seat especially on the weekend. My boyfriend and I ended up sitting at the "bar" area since it was the shortest wait. The food tastes great. I really enjoyed the Lox skillet and Route 66. We got two savory items but I will definitely be back to try the crepes and pankcakes! The customer service experience was good. They hostess and the waiter were both very courteous and tried to get us seated quickly and brought the food out in a timely manner despite how busy it was on Sunday.

This is another breakfast place that is a waste of time. I have been here twice and not a fan. Our table was dirty and had to let the staff know. Of course the table was wiped down with a sour smelling rag. The staff was running around like they weren't sure which direction they should be going in. Food was tasteless. It was so bland that hot sauce couldn't help their breakfast potatoes. I ordered their famous cheese grits but butter nor extra cheese could help. The restaurant wasn't even busy yet for such a bad experience.

3.5 Stars! Brunchies is our spot during our birthday months. You get a free entree coupon the month of your birthday. One entree of higher value is free. Breakfast options are in abundance here. More than a lot of other breakfasts in Tampa in my opinion. But, the execution of the food is not always great. It doesn't mean it tastes bad. I just don't think detail to them is as important. For example, I guess they are known for the benedicts. That is what our server said. If so, they should be awesome so I picked the special Crab Benedict. It was alright, but the bread was soggy. The eggs were just kinda tossed on the bread. My hubby loves their skillets. You can create your own skillets and omelets, but toppings you choose have different prices, & you don't know how much they cost. It does not say. Just an FYI, the back room is quieter. The main room is LOUD!!!! You can sit at the bar, & not wait if you want. The server Jorge, who is new is pretty helpful and nice. He made a mistake & rang up an omelet instead of skillet. Oops, it happened. He got it taken care of ASAP. I noticed the male hostess was yelling about his coworker in the front. I heard it too. Totally, not professional. So Yep! This place is interesting to say the least. Zoo-like perhaps at times, but I guess with it being loud, people like it.

This is probably the WORST breakfast place I have ever been to - never again! My "go to" breakfast/brunch place has always been First Watch but we thought we would give this place a try - WRONG, so very, very wrong :-( The interior is pretty basic & boring, a little on the drab side. We were seated right away & the menu looks great (lots of options). My friend & I ordered pretty basic stuff (eggs & toast) - it took FOREVER ( we waited over 45 minutes for our food. My scrambled eggs were dried out on top & the tomatoes slices were not fresh. The eggs had no salt. Even the coffee was lukewarm at best (before adding any milk). You could go to Publix, buy the same ingredients & make your own eggs/toast at home for all under $10. Our waitress was absent, never came by to ask for refills & I had to flag her down for basic requests. SKIP this place - you'll do better going thru a McD's drive thru! For $35, it was a colossal waste of money. PS: the pictures on their website are obviously styled & professionally taken cause they looked nothing like what we ordered!

"Please, sir, I want some more," as Oliver Twist would say. The food here tasted great. I had waffles, scrabbled eggs and sausage. Before I knew it, all that was left on my plate was morsels of crumbs. No complaints about the food. Service was good. It was packed to the brim so of course we had to wait a while. That's to be expected in anyplace that is as popular as this. If I have any complaints, its the chairs. Is it JUST me or do they seem to be a little low to the ground and uncomfortable? Maybe it was just my imagination but I haven't sat in chairs like that since I was in kindergarten. Overall, however, Brunchie's serves above average breakfast with good service and has a good casual-upbeat atmosphere to it. I would definitely come back!
Brunchies is one of my go to breakfast joints. The coffee is good, you get super friendly service, and there's tons of scrumptious breakfast choices on the menu. Some other reasons this is a fave of mine: 1) Brunchies always features a specialty pancake. In the Fall they have pink pumpkin pancakes that can be topped with praline syrup. Yummm! 2) I don't eat pig bacon and I love, love, love the duck bacon! The turducken Benny has got to be one of my favorite benedicts on the menu. 3) The bagels are flown in from the Bronx. If you've ever eaten baked goods in NYC you'll know why these are special. I get a bag to go after eating a breakfast. 4) When there's a wait you can eat at the low-top bar/lunch counter-looking seating on a first come first served basis and still get exceptional service. 5) Freshly Squeezed OJ

As always, one of the best breakfasts in Tampa. The Huevos Avocado is an delicious rendition of Eggs Benedict. The breakfast burrito is great too, but they never give me enough salsa. We also had the Very Berry Crepes, no syrup and just the right amount of sweet. Be sure to get their breakfast club card to get some points. I'll be back!

Brunchies is casual breakfast dining. They are very Adkins friendly which we really enjoy the low-carb breakfast. They have a really good lunch menu as well. My favorite is the chicken Waldorf croissant. For breakfast I would recommend the make yourself omelette. Delicious!!

This is nice clean inviting place to enjoy breakfast. With that said, I got a basic breakfast (triple play). My poached eggs were great. My potatoes were dry for my taste and my bacon was too dry / crunchy. I prefer to enjoy the flavors of bacon when it's slightly underdone. Dry potatoes and dry bacon were the only issues I had with my experience. I would come back but I'd be specific with my order next time.

I can't help but compare it to First Watch. Some items are great. And some are just good. The wait staff is nice, but not overly friendly. It's not always so clean and the coffee station while u wait is usually a mess and almost out of everything with water on the table dripping down to the floor. When u tell the teenager with braces at the hostess stand she rolls her eyes and pretends to do something about it. I just can't get super into this place like lots of people are. To each their own. Not bad not great.

This place is sooo popular and is therefore very loud. They knew my friend by name! I had french toast with blueberries, strawberries and bananas with a side of sausage and rye toast and some hot black tea. The sausage weren't those skinny little things you usually see. No, these were nice, plump and juicy links. VERY Yummy, all of it. Service was wonderful. I strongly recommend it but not for people who are specifically looking for quiet.
Came here for a late morning brunch, and was greeted and sat pretty quickly. As it was after the breakfast crowd but still before 11, I noticed they had an early bird breakfast deal. The egg Sammie with cheese (bacon comes with but gave that away) comes on your choice of bread or bagel. Had mine on Asiago bagel. Side of potatoes, not the best nor the worst. Kind of meal that is hard to mess up. Server was good up to this point. He dropped off check and then went Mia. Gave me a bum pen and tried flagging down a server to ask for a pen and she said ok but proceeded to whiz by my table several times without stopping. I hate it when you are held hostage by server who is too busy on cell phone to so I decided to get creative and etched my signature and call it a day. Too bad my etching skills didn't reflect my usual tip. Not sure if I would return as the experience didn't blow my socks off.

This is an update to my previous review. My family and I went back today. I prepared myself, and was determined I was going to overwhelm the previously rude hostess that I previously complained about, with kindness, only to find she was not working. Moving on......poor service, incorrect food order delivered to table. Quality of food was fair. Before we left, I went into the LADIES room. Upon entry I noticed our waitress on my left standing by the sinks, on her phone. I walked toward the handicap stall, and upon entry heard a "male" voice from the other stall state that here was still bleach in the stool. When I left, I observed the MALE in the stall next to mine, on his knees, either cleaning or working on the toilet! I approached the waitress, and said " excuse me, I did not notice this bathroom was closed", she replied, " oh, it isn't " WHAT.....???????

This is my favorite breakfast restaurant in the area. I order either an omelet or the make your own skillet. I love avocado and they put fresh slices on top of either and are not stingy. My husband gets their sweet dishes and often tries their specials. He always enjoys his meal! Love that they do seasonal dishes as well. Service is good and if it's not too busy you can get in and out quickly. Parking is easy!

Generous with tea - unlike a lot of places who only give us tea drinkers one tea bag. Server was patient. My friend and I came in during a time the restaurant wasn't too busy. Oh. My. God! Absolutely amazing food! I haven't had something this good in a long time. I stopped here really quick while my daughter was in the Preschool Steps program at Gymboree across the street. I wanted some sort of breakfast sandwich with egg. I asked the waiter what his favorite sandwich was and he recommended the Brunchies Classic Club. It came with potatoes on the side. This was the best club sandwich I've ever had! It was so good, and the portion was great. I also waited less than 10 minutes for my order. I will definitely be returning to try the shrimp and grits!

My brunch sandwich was good... That is why I gave 2 stars and not 1. My husbands burger was messy and forgettable, kids pancakes were dry and their bacon was burnt. We also got and order of duck bacon which was greasy and undercooked. Also it took 20 minutes to get our food which was crazy because the place was pretty empty. Lastly, the soap in the restroom was extremely watered down so it was like washing up with plain water. This means the staff is also not washing up properly .... Yuck.

We have been a couple times as we are in search of a decent breakfast place in the lutz area. We were devout regulars at another brunch restaurant, but changes in staff and upset stomachs made us rethink our patronage. It is truly a solid brunch restaurant. Friendly staff, good food, and some interesting twists if you are adventerous. They can be busy, so patience is necessary at times. However, so are other similar establishments in suburbia. We had special requests and they were honored with a smile. There was a little mix up with an order, but it was corrected quickly. I am pleased to report we came away full, happy, and without upset stomachs of any kind. I would recommend giving Brunchies a try as it beats the area competition with a smile. Edited: I would recommend visiting on a day when the owners are working, as there is a totally different vibe when they are present. When they are present and in the dining room, it runs like a well oiled machine. When they are not - anarchy. Lol. Unfortunately the latest experience we had was not good - wrong food brought out, food was not made to order and inedible, and we were still charged for the plate. This is one thing that will truly lose my business - a kitchen and server that don't pay attention to order specifics. Given this I am most likely striking this from our breakfast rotation. Very disappointing........thankfully I was able to run in to Abby's and grab something after the family ate their meals. Therefore former 4 star rating moved to 2. :(

This is a breakfast staple in the Tampa Bay area. Formerly called "J. Christopher's," this breakfast joint serves up a variety of familiar breakfast platters as well as unique options like duck bacon. I have been a regular patron to this establishment for the past two years, and I keep coming back for more. Personal favorites include the duck bacon and the route 66 skillet. Pro tip: add goat cheese to anything you order. The interior is a little overwhelming at first, meaning that it resembles a giant dining room with very little partitions between tables, offering little for those seeking privacy. There is a separate room immediately to the right, and I've noticed that the temperature tends to be a little on the cooler side, so I generally try to sit there or at the bar area. Pro tip: Bar area is first come first serve. The service is capital. I haven't met a server who wasn't on top of his/her game. Restrooms have always been clean and well-kept. They also offer a rewards program, so be sure to ask about that. Duck bacon: I have never heard of duck bacon before coming to this place. It sounds like it might be odd/gamey at first, but rest assured that the "bacon" is very meaty, slightly lower in fat than pork bacon, and much better than turkey bacon.

Brunchies has a very extensive menu, so everyone should be able to find something they will like. My husband created his own omelet and I got the breakfast with egg whites, fruit, and turkey sausage (I forget the name). His was very good and mine was as good as it can be for turkey sausage and egg whites. :) It was a tad pricey for breakfast, but well worth the cost. It's a pretty big restaraunt, so I imagine they get busy on weekends. The service was perfect.

It was my first time at Brunchies... And it was just an ok experience... There was no waiting to be seating, staff was nice enough, but mediocre food. My food was deliver'D and was incorrect. If you are into SCRAMBLED eggs this place is hopeless, you get more of and egg omelet with cheese on top. My eggs were cold... Do you precook eggs? My French toast had a good taste, but was cold. It wasn't super busy so to deliver cold food kinda bewildered me. My friend order'D the turkey avocado scramble and it was ok, seemed to be missing something taste wise though.. She also had pancake that was so cold the butter wouldn't melt. They do have duck bacon, it was my first time trying it and it was pretty good. The waiter was extremely nice but made many mistakes. Overall it was just an ok experience, I'd choose Waffle House any day.

I would leave zero stars if I could. This was a back experience. from service to food. One of the waitress order a manager and no one came. We ordered breakfast everyone hungry. 30 mins later it was the wrong Order for $34 you just expect more. And food may have been good here but I wouldn't know it and we aren't coming back to find out. Two kids and only one plate comes out 1st after 20mins of waiting. If it wasn't for the the second child having to eat I would have left long time ago. We will not be coming back.

Brunchies is located across the street from grillsmith and serves up great, unpretentious breakfast for a reasonable price. Their blueberry crunch Pancakes were great and my hubby enjoyed his duck bacon-yep. You heard me right...duck bacon. I ordered the veggie omlette. Although it wasn't spectacular, it was a solid choice. I would suggest arriving before 9am. Otherwise you might be waiting a bit.

Been here dozens of times over the years and have never had a bad experience. Only been for breakfast/brunch and would probably stick to that. The blueberry crunch cakes are some of the best pancakes I've ever had, that good. Get a shortstack or even just a single pancake because these things are way, way too big for a normal person to eat three and one would be a normal portion.

This was first time for my wife and I to eat at brunchies. Services was good. Friendly and helpful. I had eggs grits, turkey sausage and blue berry crunch pancakes and coffee to drink. Coffee was okay but not best. The pancakes where different but taste. Overall just a average place. The main dinning area was loud but they do have different dinning that was quieter. Luckily we we where not in the main dinning area. Not sure if I will return for a second visit.

We had a group of 7 go today and enjoyed the food. I made a reservation and changed the time multiple times and they were able to seat us when we wanted. The food was quick and the server was great. Great brunch spot! I had the Goddess Omelette and it was amazing! We were seated immediately on Saturday late morning at 11:45am and the service was prompt and attentive. I measure brunch places based on basic things such as the quality and freshness of their coffee (5-stars), how well they can make egged (eggs should be perfect at a place like this - who messes up eggs anyway) and the service - is my glass full, am I waiting forever and how long does it take for my food to come. A friend and I came here for brunch last weekend and we were very impressed! They had a pretty large menu with a lot to choose from. We shared the guava cream cheese french toast (phenomenal) and eggs benedict with spinach and sundried tomatoes. We had never seen guava french toast before on any menu so we had to try it. I'm so glad we decided to share because it was huge! Very very sweet so if you don't have a sweet tooth this is not for you. They make their own hot sauce, fairly spicy but it added a nice kick to our benedict. I will definitely be coming back I prefer it much more than First Watch as a go to breakfast joint.

We will definitely be coming back! The place was very busy when we got there (11:30am on a Sunday) but we only had to wait about 10 minutes. It was clean, and the staff was very attentive despite being very busy. Our server was very nice and brought our drinks very quickly. The menu is a bit large, so it took me some time to decide what I wanted but she was very patient. My boyfriend got the chimichurri steak and eggs...It was excellent! I got the guava stuffed French toast...And it was HUGE and amazing! There are several other things that we want to try on the menu, so we will definitely be back!

Boyfriend had the buccaneer breakfast with the blueberry crunch pancakes and it was fantastic. We could have shared one meal though. We've been visiting Brunchies through numerous name incarnations (J. Christophers, then J.C.s then Brunchies) and the menu has stayed the same, the food pretty good, and the overall experience what one would expect from a popular brunch place on the weekends. I am not a big fan of sweets (pancakes, french toast) for brunch so much of their menu is rather lost on me. But oh do I LOVE eggs. Their omelets (the Western being my go-to) are large and packed with fillings. I love that the English muffins always come out with just a tiny ring of char on the edges (I like my toast very TOASTED). The Route 66 skillet is another favorite. Some reviews refer to the fact the corned beef hash comes out of a can. Perhaps - but I actively dislike places that serve huge cubes of beef with a few scant potatoes and perhaps my tastes are just pedestrian, but when I order hash, I sort of expect it to be like the canned kind. Brunchies makes their own chorizo in-house, which does explain why it is featured in so many of the breakfast items. I tried the Breakfast Burrito on one visit and was very confused when it appeared to be diced breakfast sausage in the burrito. While I rarely send things back, I did bring the matter to the waiter's attention and the next thing I knew, the owner was peering critically at my burrito, proclaimed it "not chorizo" and whisked my plate away to have a tete-et-tete with the kitchen. From the look on his face, whichever chef thought the customer wouldn't notice the substitution got quite the earful. Very quickly, I had a fresh burrito in front of me with actual chorizo. It was very nicely done - spiced but no blow-your-head-off spicy and not as greasy as chorizo can sometimes be. Branched out recently and tried the Brunchies' Classic Club - which is anything but the same old, same old. I love a good club sandwich and theirs, with thick-cut bacon crisped up nicely, a smear of honey-mustard, and topped with a fried egg blew me away. Really good and paired with the loaded potato salad, I had a hearty lunch of 1/2 the sandwich the next day. Above average food, good service and a great location for my fam - Brunchies will remain in our top 5 for brunch.

This is literally the best breakfast place I've had the pleasure of going to! I was impressed with all aspects of dining here. It was clean, the staff was friendly, the food was great. I had the "turduckin" Benny which is duck bacon , turkey, and tomato eggs Benedict. I really liked the duck bacon. My girlfriend had portabello croissant Benny. Our server, Felipe, was great and attentive and upbeat. I Plan on coming here many times more!

I've been here twice with friends. The wait is better here than First Watch down the street on Dale Mabry so it's a better weekend brunch option. I tried going healthy wheat germ and blueberry pancakes to make up for my delicious but super rich chunky monkey pancakes I had previously, but that was a stupid choice on my part. I should try those blueberry crunch ones though. My friends liked their egg dishes (menu is so large I can't remember which ones, sorry). Waiters are nice and attentive.

Brunchies has an extensive menu, and everything sounded really good. From early risers, to skinny meals, to south of the border brunch menu. Sounds like a great thing, however when you order their meal it's very small in portion. Granted the prices are very cheap, it's still a small brunch portion that you get. I ordered the buccaneer feast which consisted of Blueberry pancakes or maple french toast (can also be substituted with waffles for an extra price), Choice of bacon or sausages, potatoes, and two style of eggs. All that for $8.99, pretty good but again small portions. Everything came out great, except for the bacons which tasted as if it had been frozen for a long time so it had that freezer burn taste to it. Other than that it is an ok brunch place if you are in the area. I'd return and try other items on their menu. Other people in the tables around me ordered their steak and chimichurri which looked very good.

There are few secrets about a place called "Brunchies" which are not divulged by the name itself. It is cutesy, it is all about brunch, and it is frequented by people who find rare satisfaction in contemplating the latest oeuvre of Mary Engelbreit. You may wonder why there are so many references to "J. Christopher's" in other reviews. This was very recently a link in that restaurant chain -- so recently that the charge on my card still appeared as J CHRISTOPHERS. The menu has not diverged significantly. The menu is unintentionally hilarious. The description of a bowl of granola namedrops Ewell (sic) Gibbons, a name that has seldom been uttered since the original granola craze of the 1960s and its chief proponent, Euell Gibbons. Much more alarming is the "Cheval Burger". Horse meat has recently been legalized, and if you know any French at all, you'd be forgiven for believing there were no ground-up cows in the Cheval Burger. Cheval, after all, is French for horse. I asked our server if Brunchies was serving horsemeat. Since he thought of Cheval as a nearby subdivision about which I hadn't known, he was utterly confused. To him, it meant "Agrestic Burger". To be clear: the Cheval Burger does not contain any ground-up horses. It is 100% ground-up cows. This probably comes as a great relief to you, which is why I find carnivores deeply weird. In honor of my fellow vegetarians, I had a breakfast that would make Mr. Ed's mouth water: apple-oat pancakes. They weren't bad. A little dry, perhaps, which made them a perfect match for my sense of humor.

I have been a regular here since they opened. It was J. Christopher's back then, but they still have the same great food, and I love that the servers know us by name. I ran into the owner at IFW Festival at Epcot one evening and stopped for a chat. He is a fan of trying new items on the specials page and this was the first place I ever tried duck bacon. Great food, good prices. I usually take friends from out of town here when they visit.

Excellent food, the menu is almost overwhelming. My wife have the Bronx Benny, poached eggs served over lox, on a toasted plain bagel. The hollandaise sauce was out of this world. I had the buckwheat pancakes. They were delicious. The coffee is just OK, and the service was on top of our needs and very helpful and smiling. Their bagels are flown in from NY/Bronx. You could taste the difference. Highly recommend to any before dinner adventurers.

Looking for a breakfast place other than the chain restaurants, we found Brunchies on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Food was great, servers friendly and the atmosphere was great. I had shrimp and grits and they were awesome, hubby had the more traditional eggs/sausage breakfast and was also very pleased. We will be back! The server signed us up for a rewards card and also told us about the ever changing menu, so we're looking forward to going back to see what is new! Highly reccommend!

This is another "What kind of person are you?" place. Food specifics: 1) The 'home fries' are Ore-Ida frozen home fries. They were over-cooked and stale. 2) The hollandaise sauce was from a mix. 3) The corned beef hash was from a can. 4) The over-easy eggs were delivered cooked through, solid. Now, to me, this says, "Never go here again." They don't make real food there, they open cans and heat stuff up. And it doesn't take particularly good if you've developed a taste for real food. However... If you regularly eat at McDonalds, you might like this. If your idea of 'gourmet' is the Hardees ThickBurger, this will seem like an acceptable experience. If you grade the place on that curve, there's nothing wrong with Brunchies. What I'd say was wrong no matter who you are was the waiting: the quoted ten-minute wait for a table was 40 minutes, food took another 35 minutes, and it took our server 10 minutes to get us our check after eating, and another fifteen to pick it up and run the card, and that's after we finally flagged down the hostess and asked to have someone take our money. It was also incredibly loud. Wow. Yet the place was jammed--it's certainly popular. That's Tampa for you, to be sure; if ever a place like Brunchies was going to succeed it'd be in central Florida. If you're from out of town, though, that's what you're getting into.

I decided to try out this place because I noticed that they stated that they were dog friendly, (which is obviously hard to find in a restaurant) and my family was in town with our dog so we decided to try out this place. We went on a Sunday at about 9am and sat outside with our dog, and at first the hostess gave us quite a weird look, which is understandable I suppose. But then our server came out and was extremely friendly and offered our dog water and was extremely attentive. The food took about 20 minutes to come out and was delicious! I ordered the bacon bits waffles, and it was absolutely perfect. My sisters were both very pleased with their meal as well. Although I never saw the inside of the restaurant, I would still recommend this place based on the food and the customer service.

Wife and I ate breakfast on 1/29/14 at 10:30 am. Wife had plain short stack of pancakes took one bite and would not eat anymore said it was very dry/stale tasting. I had the Buccaneer Feast- 2 eggs over easy was fine, turkey sausage was dry no taste, potatoes were over cooked and the maple french toast was nothing to write home about. Only about half dozen people in the restaurant at the time and it took a long time to get waited on. Ordered Cafe Con Leche it arrived just barely warm. The waitress came by one time and asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for another coffee and she did not bring another coffee just the bill. I waited for her to come back an take the money but never saw her again, so I left the cash and small tip and left. I will not eat there again.

My wife and I rode our bikes to Brunchies on a beautiful Sunday in January and were not dissapointed. The place was pretty packed but we found a fine spot on the first come first served dining area which was perfectly adequate. The servers were friendly and somewhat fast given how busy the place was. I had the Eggs Benedict and Fried Green Tomatos which was as good as I have ever had. My wife had a more traditional breakfast with Crunchy Blueberry Pancakes which were just ok. All in all it was a great experience and suspect my wife will get the Eggs Benedict next time we go.

Nestled in the same plaza as Bally's and next to Cafe Eden, Brucnhies is a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch spot off in Carrolwood on North Dale Mabry Blvd between Fletcher Ave. and Bearrs/Ehrlich Ave. They offer a nice selection of breakfast and lunch choices, some which distinguishes the place from other BBL (breakfast, brunch, lunch) joints in the area. Some items such as their Lobster Bruschetta add a nice change to the menu for BBL, but only for those that are willing to test the waters (i did not order the Lobster Bruschetta, this time). The wife and I both ordered traditional breakfast entrees. I originally ordered the Route 66 skillet, but they were out of corned beef hash(this saddened me quite drastic, jk) so instead I ordered the Traditional Breakfast which came with 2 eggs (I ordered scrambled well), bacon, potatoes and English muffin. My breakfast was alright seeing that these are pretty hard items to mess up. I did wish my bacon to be softer, but it was still good. They used a thick cut style bacon which I like. The potatoes were salty but not too bad, possibly a lil heavy on the seasoning. They reminded me of Irish potatoes so don't expect too much flavor. The wife ordered Strawberry crepes and I must say that they visually appealing. I'm not a fruit fan, but my wife said the dish was delicious. The strawberry compote was nice and warm. Also the strawberries were still somewhat firm and not soggy like the Cheesecake Factory's strawberries. Overall, Brunchies is a nice place for breakfast. On Sunday's do expect a 10-15 minute wait possibly due to late risers from Saturday night clubbin and church goers. The do attract a diverse crowd and with a diverse menu, rightfully so.

The thing I like about J. Christophers is that the service is always good. The people are REALLY friendly and that makes my day especially when it's my first meal. On a scale of local breakfast/brunch places, this place is above First Watch but doesn't quite meet Jackson's but it's very close. The food is fresh, taste amazing, and the prices are just right. I usually get the egg white omelet with toast and potatoes. It's good. The pancakes are also very good too. They are pretty big so have someone help you out. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and made locally. The difference between getting something in the store and the fresh squeezed is remarkable. It's a must have. The other thing I like about J. Christophers is that it makes its own hot sauce. It's soooo good! It's not a vinegar based pepper sauce. it's more like a thinner salsa with a tomato base. If you like spicy, you'll love it! And yes, they'll sell you a bottle. Many people have remarked how good it is when I let other people try it.

JCs has been pretty consistent for me. I like it better than First Watch (not that FW is bad) because they have more bkfast options and a "bar" which makes it easier for singles and couples to get in and out without having to take up an entire table. Sadly service can be a bit lacking at the bar but I've only been on weekend mornings and time is not an issue. Food is good, eggs bene usually prepared correctly.

We went back to J. Christophers today and were a bit disappointed. The first thing we noticed was how dirty the place was....so much stuff...wrappers, crumbs... on the floor and a lot of the tables still had dirty dishes. To get to our table, we actually had to walk around ketchup on the carpeting (disgusting!). We were seated in the side room and it must have been 10 degrees cooler than the main room. I asked for decaf coffee and what I got was a carafe of cold coffee. Also felt like Romper Room in there today. I still don't understand why in today's day and age, parents do not discipline their children. When I grew up, if we were at a table, we were told to sit down and sit still. These kids were standing on the chairs while Dad looked at his cell phone and Mom didn't say anything. I don't think we will go back again. We'll stick with First Watch.

3.5 Stars! Brunchies is our spot during our birthday months. You get a free entree coupon the month of your birthday. One entree of higher value is free. Breakfast options are in abundance here. More than a lot of other breakfasts in Tampa in my opinion. But, the execution of the food is not always great. It doesn't mean it tastes bad. I just don't think detail to them is as important. For example, I guess they are known for the benedicts. That is what our server said. If so, they should be awesome so I picked the special Crab Benedict. It was alright, but the bread was soggy. The eggs were just kinda tossed on the bread. My hubby loves their skillets. You can create your own skillets and omelets, but toppings you choose have different prices, & you don't know how much they cost. It does not say. Just an FYI, the back room is quieter. The main room is LOUD!!!! You can sit at the bar, & not wait if you want. The server Jorge, who is new is pretty helpful and nice. He made a mistake & rang up an omelet instead of skillet. Oops, it happened. He got it taken care of ASAP. I noticed the male hostess was yelling about his coworker in the front. I heard it too. Totally, not professional. So Yep! This place is interesting to say the least. Zoo-like perhaps at times, but I guess with it being loud, people like it.

This is probably the WORST breakfast place I have ever been to - never again! My "go to" breakfast/brunch place has always been First Watch but we thought we would give this place a try - WRONG, so very, very wrong :-( The interior is pretty basic & boring, a little on the drab side. We were seated right away & the menu looks great (lots of options). My friend & I ordered pretty basic stuff (eggs & toast) - it took FOREVER ( we waited over 45 minutes for our food. My scrambled eggs were dried out on top & the tomatoes slices were not fresh. The eggs had no salt. Even the coffee was lukewarm at best (before adding any milk). You could go to Publix, buy the same ingredients & make your own eggs/toast at home for all under $10. Our waitress was absent, never came by to ask for refills & I had to flag her down for basic requests. SKIP this place - you'll do better going thru a McD's drive thru! For $35, it was a colossal waste of money. PS: the pictures on their website are obviously styled & professionally taken cause they looked nothing like what we ordered!

"Please, sir, I want some more," as Oliver Twist would say. The food here tasted great. I had waffles, scrabbled eggs and sausage. Before I knew it, all that was left on my plate was morsels of crumbs. No complaints about the food. Service was good. It was packed to the brim so of course we had to wait a while. That's to be expected in anyplace that is as popular as this. If I have any complaints, its the chairs. Is it JUST me or do they seem to be a little low to the ground and uncomfortable? Maybe it was just my imagination but I haven't sat in chairs like that since I was in kindergarten. Overall, however, Brunchie's serves above average breakfast with good service and has a good casual-upbeat atmosphere to it. I would definitely come back!
Brunchies is one of my go to breakfast joints. The coffee is good, you get super friendly service, and there's tons of scrumptious breakfast choices on the menu. Some other reasons this is a fave of mine: 1) Brunchies always features a specialty pancake. In the Fall they have pink pumpkin pancakes that can be topped with praline syrup. Yummm! 2) I don't eat pig bacon and I love, love, love the duck bacon! The turducken Benny has got to be one of my favorite benedicts on the menu. 3) The bagels are flown in from the Bronx. If you've ever eaten baked goods in NYC you'll know why these are special. I get a bag to go after eating a breakfast. 4) When there's a wait you can eat at the low-top bar/lunch counter-looking seating on a first come first served basis and still get exceptional service. 5) Freshly Squeezed OJ

As always, one of the best breakfasts in Tampa. The Huevos Avocado is an delicious rendition of Eggs Benedict. The breakfast burrito is great too, but they never give me enough salsa. We also had the Very Berry Crepes, no syrup and just the right amount of sweet. Be sure to get their breakfast club card to get some points. I'll be back!

Brunchies is casual breakfast dining. They are very Adkins friendly which we really enjoy the low-carb breakfast. They have a really good lunch menu as well. My favorite is the chicken Waldorf croissant. For breakfast I would recommend the make yourself omelette. Delicious!!

This is nice clean inviting place to enjoy breakfast. With that said, I got a basic breakfast (triple play). My poached eggs were great. My potatoes were dry for my taste and my bacon was too dry / crunchy. I prefer to enjoy the flavors of bacon when it's slightly underdone. Dry potatoes and dry bacon were the only issues I had with my experience. I would come back but I'd be specific with my order next time.

I can't help but compare it to First Watch. Some items are great. And some are just good. The wait staff is nice, but not overly friendly. It's not always so clean and the coffee station while u wait is usually a mess and almost out of everything with water on the table dripping down to the floor. When u tell the teenager with braces at the hostess stand she rolls her eyes and pretends to do something about it. I just can't get super into this place like lots of people are. To each their own. Not bad not great.

This was the most flavorful breakfast I have had in a long time. We received excellent service, and all the ingredients used were fresh. I ordered the huevos avocado, which is like an eggs benedict with cheese and avocado added. It was served with home fries. It was amazing. Came here for a late morning brunch, and was greeted and sat pretty quickly. As it was after the breakfast crowd but still before 11, I noticed they had an early bird breakfast deal. The egg Sammie with cheese (bacon comes with but gave that away) comes on your choice of bread or bagel. Had mine on Asiago bagel. Side of potatoes, not the best nor the worst. Kind of meal that is hard to mess up. Server was good up to this point. He dropped off check and then went Mia. Gave me a bum pen and tried flagging down a server to ask for a pen and she said ok but proceeded to whiz by my table several times without stopping. I hate it when you are held hostage by server who is too busy on cell phone to so I decided to get creative and etched my signature and call it a day. Too bad my etching skills didn't reflect my usual tip. Not sure if I would return as the experience didn't blow my socks off.

This place is sooo popular and is therefore very loud. They knew my friend by name! I had french toast with blueberries, strawberries and bananas with a side of sausage and rye toast and some hot black tea. The sausage weren't those skinny little things you usually see. No, these were nice, plump and juicy links. VERY Yummy, all of it. Service was wonderful. I strongly recommend it but not for people who are specifically looking for quiet.

This is my favorite breakfast restaurant in the area. I order either an omelet or the make your own skillet. I love avocado and they put fresh slices on top of either and are not stingy. My husband gets their sweet dishes and often tries their specials. He always enjoys his meal! Love that they do seasonal dishes as well. Service is good and if it's not too busy you can get in and out quickly. Parking is easy!

This is an update to my previous review. My family and I went back today. I prepared myself, and was determined I was going to overwhelm the previously rude hostess that I previously complained about, with kindness, only to find she was not working. Moving on......poor service, incorrect food order delivered to table. Quality of food was fair. Before we left, I went into the LADIES room. Upon entry I noticed our waitress on my left standing by the sinks, on her phone. I walked toward the handicap stall, and upon entry heard a "male" voice from the other stall state that here was still bleach in the stool. When I left, I observed the MALE in the stall next to mine, on his knees, either cleaning or working on the toilet! I approached the waitress, and said " excuse me, I did not notice this bathroom was closed", she replied, " oh, it isn't " WHAT.....???????

The the graders were very nice and their waitresses very nice also was quick with getting our drinks and service was good. The only bad part which was the most important part was the food. I had biscuits and gravy and it was pretty bad the gravy was from a jar what cut up pieces of sausage. The biscuit was freezer burned and had a horrible taste. So sad since this is a staple here in the south my wife had the huevos rancheros and it was bad... Black beans?? barely cooked and and the Chorizo was well just not very Mexican or spicy. decent place, nice people, but food was sub par.

Generous with tea - unlike a lot of places who only give us tea drinkers one tea bag. Server was patient. My friend and I came in during a time the restaurant wasn't too busy. This is a breakfast staple in the Tampa Bay area. Formerly called "J. Christopher's," this breakfast joint serves up a variety of familiar breakfast platters as well as unique options like duck bacon. I have been a regular patron to this establishment for the past two years, and I keep coming back for more. Personal favorites include the duck bacon and the route 66 skillet. Pro tip: add goat cheese to anything you order. The interior is a little overwhelming at first, meaning that it resembles a giant dining room with very little partitions between tables, offering little for those seeking privacy. There is a separate room immediately to the right, and I've noticed that the temperature tends to be a little on the cooler side, so I generally try to sit there or at the bar area. Pro tip: Bar area is first come first serve. The service is capital. I haven't met a server who wasn't on top of his/her game. Restrooms have always been clean and well-kept. They also offer a rewards program, so be sure to ask about that. Duck bacon: I have never heard of duck bacon before coming to this place. It sounds like it might be odd/gamey at first, but rest assured that the "bacon" is very meaty, slightly lower in fat than pork bacon, and much better than turkey bacon.

Oh. My. God! Absolutely amazing food! I haven't had something this good in a long time. I stopped here really quick while my daughter was in the Preschool Steps program at Gymboree across the street. I wanted some sort of breakfast sandwich with egg. I asked the waiter what his favorite sandwich was and he recommended the Brunchies Classic Club. It came with potatoes on the side. This was the best club sandwich I've ever had! It was so good, and the portion was great. I also waited less than 10 minutes for my order. I will definitely be returning to try the shrimp and grits!

We have been a couple times as we are in search of a decent breakfast place in the lutz area. We were devout regulars at another brunch restaurant, but changes in staff and upset stomachs made us rethink our patronage. It is truly a solid brunch restaurant. Friendly staff, good food, and some interesting twists if you are adventerous. They can be busy, so patience is necessary at times. However, so are other similar establishments in suburbia. We had special requests and they were honored with a smile. There was a little mix up with an order, but it was corrected quickly. I am pleased to report we came away full, happy, and without upset stomachs of any kind. I would recommend giving Brunchies a try as it beats the area competition with a smile. Edited: I would recommend visiting on a day when the owners are working, as there is a totally different vibe when they are present. When they are present and in the dining room, it runs like a well oiled machine. When they are not - anarchy. Lol. Unfortunately the latest experience we had was not good - wrong food brought out, food was not made to order and inedible, and we were still charged for the plate. This is one thing that will truly lose my business - a kitchen and server that don't pay attention to order specifics. Given this I am most likely striking this from our breakfast rotation. Very disappointing........thankfully I was able to run in to Abby's and grab something after the family ate their meals. Therefore former 4 star rating moved to 2. :(

Brunchies has a very extensive menu, so everyone should be able to find something they will like. My husband created his own omelet and I got the breakfast with egg whites, fruit, and turkey sausage (I forget the name). His was very good and mine was as good as it can be for turkey sausage and egg whites. :) It was a tad pricey for breakfast, but well worth the cost. It's a pretty big restaraunt, so I imagine they get busy on weekends. The service was perfect.

It was my first time at Brunchies... And it was just an ok experience... There was no waiting to be seating, staff was nice enough, but mediocre food. My food was deliver'D and was incorrect. If you are into SCRAMBLED eggs this place is hopeless, you get more of and egg omelet with cheese on top. My eggs were cold... Do you precook eggs? My French toast had a good taste, but was cold. It wasn't super busy so to deliver cold food kinda bewildered me. My friend order'D the turkey avocado scramble and it was ok, seemed to be missing something taste wise though.. She also had pancake that was so cold the butter wouldn't melt. They do have duck bacon, it was my first time trying it and it was pretty good. The waiter was extremely nice but made many mistakes. Overall it was just an ok experience, I'd choose Waffle House any day.

I would leave zero stars if I could. This was a back experience. from service to food. One of the waitress order a manager and no one came. We ordered breakfast everyone hungry. 30 mins later it was the wrong Order for $34 you just expect more. And food may have been good here but I wouldn't know it and we aren't coming back to find out. Two kids and only one plate comes out 1st after 20mins of waiting. If it wasn't for the the second child having to eat I would have left long time ago. We will not be coming back.

Brunchies is located across the street from grillsmith and serves up great, unpretentious breakfast for a reasonable price. Their blueberry crunch Pancakes were great and my hubby enjoyed his duck bacon-yep. You heard me right...duck bacon. I ordered the veggie omlette. Although it wasn't spectacular, it was a solid choice. I would suggest arriving before 9am. Otherwise you might be waiting a bit.

Been here dozens of times over the years and have never had a bad experience. Only been for breakfast/brunch and would probably stick to that. The blueberry crunch cakes are some of the best pancakes I've ever had, that good. Get a shortstack or even just a single pancake because these things are way, way too big for a normal person to eat three and one would be a normal portion.

We had a group of 7 go today and enjoyed the food. I made a reservation and changed the time multiple times and they were able to seat us when we wanted. The food was quick and the server was great. One person had eggs that were dry but every one else loved their meal. Our total bill was only $110. The prices are low and food taste great, you can't beat it!!

Great brunch spot! I had the Goddess Omelette and it was amazing! We were seated immediately on Saturday late morning at 11:45am and the service was prompt and attentive. I measure brunch places based on basic things such as the quality and freshness of their coffee (5-stars), how well they can make egged (eggs should be perfect at a place like this - who messes up eggs anyway) and the service - is my glass full, am I waiting forever and how long does it take for my food to come. While watching, I noticed not allot of food coming out of the kitchen..seems really slow. I think half the battle and reason why it's so busy, is because the kitchen can't keep up. Also, you can spend about $8 on three chocolate chip pancakes and get nothing else with it, I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous! So I ended up getting eggs Benny with salmon. It was OK. Honestly, I enjoyed the same thing allot better at Daily Eats, who are just as busy, half the size, but allot faster. This place makes breakfast feel like a project, our whole experience with this place took almost two hours. Breakfast should not be complicated, and while the food is good, it is not worth the headache that comes with it. Not when there's so many other options in Tampa.

We went at 10:30 on a Sunday morning and only had to wait 5 minutes for a table which was nice. Our server was friendly and our food was great (I got the Florentine Benedict and the vanilla latte-both delicious). The reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it's nothing mind blowing and also this manager type young woman with long dark hair was talking very nasty to the teens working as greeters and they didn't seem to be doing anything wrong. I hate seeing 'managers' who are only teens/young 20-somethings themselves act as if they are running a militant campaign. She put me off my breakfast with her screeching voice and nasty attitude.

It helps them streamline our orders and we get the specific items we love. They even have a small and larger room available just for groups like ours. Went to Brunchies when my "first" brunch place was too crowded... I went in with good intentions...really. All I wanted was a fruit place and a whole grain bagel. A simple enough order, or so I thought. The plate of fruit came out with no rhyme or reason and to seemed like they just chopped up fruit and threw it on a plate. The strawberries still had stems, the melon still had skin and it looked like the orange slices had been "pre-squeezed" (Which is great because they have fresh squeezed OJ... I just don't want the remnants left on my plate.) The bagel was good... The only other thing that my wife likes that they don't offer are hash browns instead of homefries... and sausage patties instead of links... I know I should not complain about things things that they don't offer, but instead of offering Duck Bacon (which they do), offer more staples.

A family owned joint that is always busy on the weekends, so be prepared. I love the "traditional"...eggs(scrambled), bacon, home fries, and an english muffin which I always trade out for a biscuit. The food is actually flavorful and not bland like some chain breakfast places. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and the quality is obvious, I loveeee it. The reason for the poor review of this place was not so much the food, but the service. We went at noon on a Sunday, so we were expecting a bit of a wait but surprisingly, it only took ten minutes to get seated. Unfortunately after that it took nearly an hour to get our food. I realize it was busy, but breakfast places are always busy but still manage to get patrons in and out very quickly since most of the items are quick to prepare. After waiting and waiting while watching the place clear out, we finally were able to get a waitress' attention and ask about our food. She looked panicked and said it was about to come out, but then they brought us out two sandwiches which we didn't order. A few minutes after that our order finally came out. It kind of makes one suspect that they just forgot our order and made it on the fly, but they assured us it was just because the kitchen was backlogged. To make matters worse, my wife is a vegetarian and specifically asked for no meat on her plate. When it arrived all looked well, but after taking a few bites of her grits, she went to stir it and pulled out a very large chunk of sausage that was in the middle of the bowl. When we brought this to the waitress' attention, she simply apologized and offered another bowl. She didn't seem the least bit alarmed or genuinely apologetic. I guess she noticed that we were getting irritated so she brought the check out right after that. I know the wait and the food mistake wasn't her fault, but she didn't offer to take the grits off our bill or offer us any compensation for any of this. The food I did have was great, but I'm having a hard time wanting to go back if we have to deal with all of this just to get to it.

I'm always looking for a casual brunch place near Carrollwood/Citrus Park/Northdale area. I've heard pretty good things about J. Christopher's so I thought i'd give it a go. I went in on Saturday at noon to take a break from xmas shopping. Functioning solely on coffee I was getting cranky. My buddy ordered the Route 66 Skillet. He and I both thought the corned beef hash was good, although we would have liked more chunks of corned beef. We also tried their pumpkin pancakes. Delightful! Always on a search for good grits, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp was done in a creole/cajun style in an andouille sausage gravy. The shrimp was excellent. Great flavor. Went here yesterday because I thought I would try something new. The atmosphere was nice even though it was alittle crowded. However, the food was just OK to me. I ordered the Turkey Monte Cristo which was anything but a Monte Cristo. Don't get me wrong I love reinventions of classics but they should consider renaming this a French Toast Turkey Sandwich because that's what it tasted like. The waitress didn't even allow me to choose the side I wanted she chose for me. I haven't had a Monte Cristo in years but the best part of it is the deep fried sandwichness. The sandwich I had at Brunchies was just two pieces of french toast with turkey, cheese and some kind of cranberry cream cheese spread on it with just a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Overall everything made the sandwich waaaaay too sweet for me. On top of that the cream cheese spread or whatever it was wasn't evenly spread on the sandwich before they cut it in half. On one half of my sandwich it was gushing out and on the other half nonexistent. To top everything off it costs me $12 for a meal I didn't enjoy or think was worth $12 in portion had I enjoyed it. Perhaps if I decide to go back I will just get the pumpkin pancakes. They've always been a fave of my mine when my mom makes them.

I ate here, yesterday (2/10/09).Took a little time to get a booth, even though there were like 2 open at the time. I heard about this place from my sister, who used to live in Tampa. I was really hyped for the creme brulee french toast. It was good, but I have to say I had some pretty high expectations, and was just slightly let down. Chelsea got the Reese pancakes, which I tried, they were pretty good as well. When it comes to dessert for breakfast, I compare everything to Bongo Room in Chicago, so it may be an unfair comparison. The dishes were plated with mediocrity. I also got my usual side of sausage, which was actually really good, and the portions were nice. Our waitress was courteous and prompt. Overall a good experience. If your in the neighborhood you should try it.

Brunchies is definitely a place to go for lovers of all breakfast/brunch food. The menu is extensive and there are so many different options to choose from. I had a hard time narrowing down my choices, and finally settled on the Florentine Benny. I can't say that my dish measured up to my excitement after seeing the menu. The Florentine Benny is an English muffin with a poached egg over sautéed spinach and sun dried tomatoes, topped with hollandaise sauce. The food here doesn't seem very fresh, much more like cheap diner food, minus the cheap. The poached egg was nice and runny, but the little spinach that I got was very oily, and the sun dried tomatoes were very hard and short small strips that were overly dried, almost as if they were left in an open container overnight. The hollandaise sauce was also very thick and congealed almost immediately, which made it seem like it was made from a powder or mix. The service here is also very rushed since the place is constantly busy with people coming in and out, whether for a meal or for a cup of coffee with the morning newspaper. I came here to catch up with a friend, and we definitely felt pushed to order then pushed to leave after finishing. At the price of almost $9 for a lackluster meal that wasn't even very filling, I would prefer going somewhere else for breakfast/brunch next time.

The reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it's nothing mind blowing and also this manager type young woman with long dark hair was talking very nasty to the teens working as greeters and they didn't seem to be doing anything wrong. I hate seeing 'managers' who are only teens/young 20-somethings themselves act as if they are running a militant campaign. She put me off my breakfast with her screeching voice and nasty attitude.

My business networking group meets here every week at 7:30a on Thursdays. Its been about 4 months now and the service has been great. They've even gone so far as to make a special menu just for us. It helps them streamline our orders and we get the specific items we love. They even have a small and larger room available just for groups like ours. I suggest you come by and check it out and get my personal favorite, its the club sandwich with a fried egg on it. It will fill you up for the rest of the day.

Huge menu, but dont let you think the food suffers because of it, this place has figured out how to take breakfast like mom used to make and keep the relaxed at home atmosphere. Went to Brunchies when my "first" brunch place was too crowded... I went in with good intentions...really. All I wanted was a fruit place and a whole grain bagel. A simple enough order, or so I thought. The plate of fruit came out with no rhyme or reason and to seemed like they just chopped up fruit and threw it on a plate. The strawberries still had stems, the melon still had skin and it looked like the orange slices had been "pre-squeezed" (Which is great because they have fresh squeezed OJ... I just don't want the remnants left on my plate.) The bagel was good... The only other thing that my wife likes that they don't offer are hash browns instead of homefries... and sausage patties instead of links... I know I should not complain about things things that they don't offer, but instead of offering Duck Bacon (which they do), offer more staples.

We will definitely be coming back! The place was very busy when we got there (11:30am on a Sunday) but we only had to wait about 10 minutes. It was clean, and the staff was very attentive despite being very busy. Our server was very nice and brought our drinks very quickly. The menu is a bit large, so it took me some time to decide what I wanted but she was very patient. My boyfriend got the chimichurri steak and eggs...It was excellent! I got the guava stuffed French toast...And it was HUGE and amazing! There are several other things that we want to try on the menu, so we will definitely be back!

Brunchies is my favorite place to get breakfast around the area I live. I'd much rather eat here than chains like Ihop or Dennys. A family owned joint that is always busy on the weekends, so be prepared. I love the "traditional"...eggs(scrambled), bacon, home fries, and an english muffin which I always trade out for a biscuit. The food is actually flavorful and not bland like some chain breakfast places. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and the quality is obvious, I loveeee it. I've also tried the blueberry crunch pancakes, a must if you crave a sweet breakfast. The staff is great and treats you like family. Ill always love brunchies.

I had brunch here yesterday and it was delicious. I shared a breakfast skillet and a pumpkin bacon waffle with my niece. The waffle was unbelievable. I fully recommend it. It took a while to be seated but that was expected because of the after church crowd. This restaurant is a must if you are in the Tampa area!

A friend and I came here for brunch last weekend and we were very impressed! They had a pretty large menu with a lot to choose from. We shared the guava cream cheese french toast (phenomenal) and eggs benedict with spinach and sundried tomatoes. We had never seen guava french toast before on any menu so we had to try it. I'm so glad we decided to share because it was huge! Very very sweet so if you don't have a sweet tooth this is not for you. They make their own hot sauce, fairly spicy but it added a nice kick to our benedict. I will definitely be coming back I prefer it much more than First Watch as a go to breakfast joint.

We've been visiting Brunchies through numerous name incarnations (J. Christophers, then J.C.s then Brunchies) and the menu has stayed the same, the food pretty good, and the overall experience what one would expect from a popular brunch place on the weekends. I am not a big fan of sweets (pancakes, french toast) for brunch so much of their menu is rather lost on me. But oh do I LOVE eggs. Their omelets (the Western being my go-to) are large and packed with fillings. I love that the English muffins always come out with just a tiny ring of char on the edges (I like my toast very TOASTED). The Route 66 skillet is another favorite. Some reviews refer to the fact the corned beef hash comes out of a can. Perhaps - but I actively dislike places that serve huge cubes of beef with a few scant potatoes and perhaps my tastes are just pedestrian, but when I order hash, I sort of expect it to be like the canned kind. Brunchies makes their own chorizo in-house, which does explain why it is featured in so many of the breakfast items. I tried the Breakfast Burrito on one visit and was very confused when it appeared to be diced breakfast sausage in the burrito. While I rarely send things back, I did bring the matter to the waiter's attention and the next thing I knew, the owner was peering critically at my burrito, proclaimed it "not chorizo" and whisked my plate away to have a tete-et-tete with the kitchen. From the look on his face, whichever chef thought the customer wouldn't notice the substitution got quite the earful. Very quickly, I had a fresh burrito in front of me with actual chorizo. It was very nicely done - spiced but no blow-your-head-off spicy and not as greasy as chorizo can sometimes be. Branched out recently and tried the Brunchies' Classic Club - which is anything but the same old, same old. I love a good club sandwich and theirs, with thick-cut bacon crisped up nicely, a smear of honey-mustard, and topped with a fried egg blew me away. Really good and paired with the loaded potato salad, I had a hearty lunch of 1/2 the sandwich the next day. Above average food, good service and a great location for my fam - Brunchies will remain in our top 5 for brunch.

I've been here twice with friends. The wait is better here than First Watch down the street on Dale Mabry so it's a better weekend brunch option. I tried going healthy wheat germ and blueberry pancakes to make up for my delicious but super rich chunky monkey pancakes I had previously, but that was a stupid choice on my part. I should try those blueberry crunch ones though. My friends liked their egg dishes (menu is so large I can't remember which ones, sorry). Waiters are nice and attentive.

Brunchies has an extensive menu, and everything sounded really good. From early risers, to skinny meals, to south of the border brunch menu. Sounds like a great thing, however when you order their meal it's very small in portion. Granted the prices are very cheap, it's still a small brunch portion that you get. I ordered the buccaneer feast which consisted of Blueberry pancakes or maple french toast (can also be substituted with waffles for an extra price), Choice of bacon or sausages, potatoes, and two style of eggs. All that for $8.99, pretty good but again small portions. Everything came out great, except for the bacons which tasted as if it had been frozen for a long time so it had that freezer burn taste to it. Other than that it is an ok brunch place if you are in the area. I'd return and try other items on their menu. Other people in the tables around me ordered their steak and chimichurri which looked very good.

There are few secrets about a place called "Brunchies" which are not divulged by the name itself. It is cutesy, it is all about brunch, and it is frequented by people who find rare satisfaction in contemplating the latest oeuvre of Mary Engelbreit. You may wonder why there are so many references to "J. Christopher's" in other reviews. This was very recently a link in that restaurant chain -- so recently that the charge on my card still appeared as J CHRISTOPHERS. The menu has not diverged significantly. The menu is unintentionally hilarious. The description of a bowl of granola namedrops Ewell (sic) Gibbons, a name that has seldom been uttered since the original granola craze of the 1960s and its chief proponent, Euell Gibbons. Much more alarming is the "Cheval Burger". Horse meat has recently been legalized, and if you know any French at all, you'd be forgiven for believing there were no ground-up cows in the Cheval Burger. Cheval, after all, is French for horse. I asked our server if Brunchies was serving horsemeat. Since he thought of Cheval as a nearby subdivision about which I hadn't known, he was utterly confused. To him, it meant "Agrestic Burger". To be clear: the Cheval Burger does not contain any ground-up horses. It is 100% ground-up cows. This probably comes as a great relief to you, which is why I find carnivores deeply weird. In honor of my fellow vegetarians, I had a breakfast that would make Mr. Ed's mouth water: apple-oat pancakes. They weren't bad. A little dry, perhaps, which made them a perfect match for my sense of humor.

Excellent food, the menu is almost overwhelming. My wife have the Bronx Benny, poached eggs served over lox, on a toasted plain bagel. The hollandaise sauce was out of this world. I had the buckwheat pancakes. They were delicious. The coffee is just OK, and the service was on top of our needs and very helpful and smiling. Their bagels are flown in from NY/Bronx. You could taste the difference. Highly recommend to any before dinner adventurers.

Looking for a breakfast place other than the chain restaurants, we found Brunchies on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Food was great, servers friendly and the atmosphere was great. I had shrimp and grits and they were awesome, hubby had the more traditional eggs/sausage breakfast and was also very pleased. We will be back! The server signed us up for a rewards card and also told us about the ever changing menu, so we're looking forward to going back to see what is new! Highly reccommend!

This is another "What kind of person are you?" place. Food specifics: 1) The 'home fries' are Ore-Ida frozen home fries. They were over-cooked and stale. 2) The hollandaise sauce was from a mix. 3) The corned beef hash was from a can. 4) The over-easy eggs were delivered cooked through, solid. Now, to me, this says, "Never go here again." They don't make real food there, they open cans and heat stuff up. And it doesn't take particularly good if you've developed a taste for real food. However... If you regularly eat at McDonalds, you might like this. If your idea of 'gourmet' is the Hardees ThickBurger, this will seem like an acceptable experience. If you grade the place on that curve, there's nothing wrong with Brunchies. What I'd say was wrong no matter who you are was the waiting: the quoted ten-minute wait for a table was 40 minutes, food took another 35 minutes, and it took our server 10 minutes to get us our check after eating, and another fifteen to pick it up and run the card, and that's after we finally flagged down the hostess and asked to have someone take our money. It was also incredibly loud. Wow. Yet the place was jammed--it's certainly popular. That's Tampa for you, to be sure; if ever a place like Brunchies was going to succeed it'd be in central Florida. If you're from out of town, though, that's what you're getting into.

I decided to try out this place because I noticed that they stated that they were dog friendly, (which is obviously hard to find in a restaurant) and my family was in town with our dog so we decided to try out this place. We went on a Sunday at about 9am and sat outside with our dog, and at first the hostess gave us quite a weird look, which is understandable I suppose. But then our server came out and was extremely friendly and offered our dog water and was extremely attentive. The food took about 20 minutes to come out and was delicious! I ordered the bacon bits waffles, and it was absolutely perfect. My sisters were both very pleased with their meal as well. Although I never saw the inside of the restaurant, I would still recommend this place based on the food and the customer service.

Wife and I ate breakfast on 1/29/14 at 10:30 am. Wife had plain short stack of pancakes took one bite and would not eat anymore said it was very dry/stale tasting. I had the Buccaneer Feast- 2 eggs over easy was fine, turkey sausage was dry no taste, potatoes were over cooked and the maple french toast was nothing to write home about. Only about half dozen people in the restaurant at the time and it took a long time to get waited on. Ordered Cafe Con Leche it arrived just barely warm. The waitress came by one time and asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for another coffee and she did not bring another coffee just the bill. I waited for her to come back an take the money but never saw her again, so I left the cash and small tip and left. I will not eat there again.

My wife and I rode our bikes to Brunchies on a beautiful Sunday in January and were not dissapointed. The place was pretty packed but we found a fine spot on the first come first served dining area which was perfectly adequate. The servers were friendly and somewhat fast given how busy the place was. I had the Eggs Benedict and Fried Green Tomatos which was as good as I have ever had. My wife had a more traditional breakfast with Crunchy Blueberry Pancakes which were just ok. All in all it was a great experience and suspect my wife will get the Eggs Benedict next time we go.

Ate here on Saturday morning with the boyfriend. We were seated immediately at a booth and had an outstanding server. The atmosphere is a bit frenetic, but it was a very busy Saturday morning, after all. I had the billy goat omelet (with goat cheese, mushrooms and roasted red peppers) and it was cooked to perfection. Boyfriend had the blueberry crunch pancakes, which were huge. He ate every bite and said they were great. I can't give this place 5 stars because it was more expensive than Nicki's Omelet, which is where we usually go for breakfast. Nestled in the same plaza as Bally's and next to Cafe Eden, Brucnhies is a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch spot off in Carrolwood on North Dale Mabry Blvd between Fletcher Ave. and Bearrs/Ehrlich Ave. They offer a nice selection of breakfast and lunch choices, some which distinguishes the place from other BBL (breakfast, brunch, lunch) joints in the area. Some items such as their Lobster Bruschetta add a nice change to the menu for BBL, but only for those that are willing to test the waters (i did not order the Lobster Bruschetta, this time). The wife and I both ordered traditional breakfast entrees. I originally ordered the Route 66 skillet, but they were out of corned beef hash(this saddened me quite drastic, jk) so instead I ordered the Traditional Breakfast which came with 2 eggs (I ordered scrambled well), bacon, potatoes and English muffin. My breakfast was alright seeing that these are pretty hard items to mess up. I did wish my bacon to be softer, but it was still good. They used a thick cut style bacon which I like. The potatoes were salty but not too bad, possibly a lil heavy on the seasoning. They reminded me of Irish potatoes so don't expect too much flavor. The wife ordered Strawberry crepes and I must say that they visually appealing. I'm not a fruit fan, but my wife said the dish was delicious. The strawberry compote was nice and warm. Also the strawberries were still somewhat firm and not soggy like the Cheesecake Factory's strawberries. Overall, Brunchies is a nice place for breakfast. On Sunday's do expect a 10-15 minute wait possibly due to late risers from Saturday night clubbin and church goers. The do attract a diverse crowd and with a diverse menu, rightfully so.

The thing I like about J. Christophers is that the service is always good. The people are REALLY friendly and that makes my day especially when it's my first meal. On a scale of local breakfast/brunch places, this place is above First Watch but doesn't quite meet Jackson's but it's very close. The food is fresh, taste amazing, and the prices are just right. I usually get the egg white omelet with toast and potatoes. It's good. The pancakes are also very good too. They are pretty big so have someone help you out. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and made locally. The difference between getting something in the store and the fresh squeezed is remarkable. It's a must have. The other thing I like about J. Christophers is that it makes its own hot sauce. It's soooo good! It's not a vinegar based pepper sauce. it's more like a thinner salsa with a tomato base. If you like spicy, you'll love it! And yes, they'll sell you a bottle. Many people have remarked how good it is when I let other people try it.

JCs has been pretty consistent for me. I like it better than First Watch (not that FW is bad) because they have more bkfast options and a "bar" which makes it easier for singles and couples to get in and out without having to take up an entire table. Sadly service can be a bit lacking at the bar but I've only been on weekend mornings and time is not an issue. Food is good, eggs bene usually prepared correctly.

We went back to J. Christophers today and were a bit disappointed. The first thing we noticed was how dirty the place was....so much stuff...wrappers, crumbs... on the floor and a lot of the tables still had dirty dishes. To get to our table, we actually had to walk around ketchup on the carpeting (disgusting!). We were seated in the side room and it must have been 10 degrees cooler than the main room. I asked for decaf coffee and what I got was a carafe of cold coffee. Also felt like Romper Room in there today. I still don't understand why in today's day and age, parents do not discipline their children. When I grew up, if we were at a table, we were told to sit down and sit still. These kids were standing on the chairs while Dad looked at his cell phone and Mom didn't say anything. I don't think we will go back again. We'll stick with First Watch.

The reason for the poor review of this place was not so much the food, but the service. We went at noon on a Sunday, so we were expecting a bit of a wait but surprisingly, it only took ten minutes to get seated. Unfortunately after that it took nearly an hour to get our food. I realize it was busy, but breakfast places are always busy but still manage to get patrons in and out very quickly since most of the items are quick to prepare. After waiting and waiting while watching the place clear out, we finally were able to get a waitress' attention and ask about our food. She looked panicked and said it was about to come out, but then they brought us out two sandwiches which we didn't order. A few minutes after that our order finally came out. It kind of makes one suspect that they just forgot our order and made it on the fly, but they assured us it was just because the kitchen was backlogged. To make matters worse, my wife is a vegetarian and specifically asked for no meat on her plate. When it arrived all looked well, but after taking a few bites of her grits, she went to stir it and pulled out a very large chunk of sausage that was in the middle of the bowl. When we brought this to the waitress' attention, she simply apologized and offered another bowl. She didn't seem the least bit alarmed or genuinely apologetic. I guess she noticed that we were getting irritated so she brought the check out right after that. I know the wait and the food mistake wasn't her fault, but she didn't offer to take the grits off our bill or offer us any compensation for any of this. The food I did have was great, but I'm having a hard time wanting to go back if we have to deal with all of this just to get to it.

I'm always looking for a casual brunch place near Carrollwood/Citrus Park/Northdale area. I've heard pretty good things about J. Christopher's so I thought i'd give it a go. I went in on Saturday at noon to take a break from xmas shopping. Functioning solely on coffee I was getting cranky. My buddy ordered the Route 66 Skillet. He and I both thought the corned beef hash was good, although we would have liked more chunks of corned beef. We also tried their pumpkin pancakes. Delightful! Always on a search for good grits, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp was done in a creole/cajun style in an andouille sausage gravy. The shrimp was excellent. Great flavor. The grits were horrible. Watery; They looked and tasted like instant grits.

Went here yesterday because I thought I would try something new. The atmosphere was nice even though it was alittle crowded. However, the food was just OK to me. I ordered the Turkey Monte Cristo which was anything but a Monte Cristo. Don't get me wrong I love reinventions of classics but they should consider renaming this a French Toast Turkey Sandwich because that's what it tasted like. The waitress didn't even allow me to choose the side I wanted she chose for me. I haven't had a Monte Cristo in years but the best part of it is the deep fried sandwichness. The sandwich I had at Brunchies was just two pieces of french toast with turkey, cheese and some kind of cranberry cream cheese spread on it with just a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Overall everything made the sandwich waaaaay too sweet for me. On top of that the cream cheese spread or whatever it was wasn't evenly spread on the sandwich before they cut it in half. On one half of my sandwich it was gushing out and on the other half nonexistent. To top everything off it costs me $12 for a meal I didn't enjoy or think was worth $12 in portion had I enjoyed it. Perhaps if I decide to go back I will just get the pumpkin pancakes. They've always been a fave of my mine when my mom makes them.

I ate here, yesterday (2/10/09).Took a little time to get a booth, even though there were like 2 open at the time. I heard about this place from my sister, who used to live in Tampa. I was really hyped for the creme brulee french toast. It was good, but I have to say I had some pretty high expectations, and was just slightly let down. Chelsea got the Reese pancakes, which I tried, they were pretty good as well. When it comes to dessert for breakfast, I compare everything to Bongo Room in Chicago, so it may be an unfair comparison. The dishes were plated with mediocrity. I also got my usual side of sausage, which was actually really good, and the portions were nice. Our waitress was courteous and prompt. Overall a good experience. If your in the neighborhood you should try it.

Great place for brunch. Just be aware that you might have to wait a bit to be seat especially on the weekend. My boyfriend and I ended up sitting at the "bar" area since it was the shortest wait. The food tastes great. I really enjoyed the Lox skillet and Route 66. We got two savory items but I will definitely be back to try the crepes and pankcakes! The customer service experience was good. They hostess and the waiter were both very courteous and tried to get us seated quickly and brought the food out in a timely manner despite how busy it was on Sunday.

This is another breakfast place that is a waste of time. I have been here twice and not a fan. Our table was dirty and had to let the staff know. Of course the table was wiped down with a sour smelling rag. The staff was running around like they weren't sure which direction they should be going in. Food was tasteless. It was so bland that hot sauce couldn't help their breakfast potatoes. I ordered their famous cheese grits but butter nor extra cheese could help. The restaurant wasn't even busy yet for such a bad experience.

3.5 Stars! Brunchies is our spot during our birthday months. You get a free entree coupon the month of your birthday. One entree of higher value is free. Breakfast options are in abundance here. More than a lot of other breakfasts in Tampa in my opinion. But, the execution of the food is not always great. It doesn't mean it tastes bad. I just don't think detail to them is as important. For example, I guess they are known for the benedicts. That is what our server said. If so, they should be awesome so I picked the special Crab Benedict. It was alright, but the bread was soggy. The eggs were just kinda tossed on the bread. My hubby loves their skillets. You can create your own skillets and omelets, but toppings you choose have different prices, & you don't know how much they cost. It does not say. Just an FYI, the back room is quieter. The main room is LOUD!!!! You can sit at the bar, & not wait if you want. The server Jorge, who is new is pretty helpful and nice. He made a mistake & rang up an omelet instead of skillet. Oops, it happened. He got it taken care of ASAP. I noticed the male hostess was yelling about his coworker in the front. I heard it too. Totally, not professional. So Yep! This place is interesting to say the least. Zoo-like perhaps at times, but I guess with it being loud, people like it.

This is probably the WORST breakfast place I have ever been to - never again! My "go to" breakfast/brunch place has always been First Watch but we thought we would give this place a try - WRONG, so very, very wrong :-( The interior is pretty basic & boring, a little on the drab side. We were seated right away & the menu looks great (lots of options). My friend & I ordered pretty basic stuff (eggs & toast) - it took FOREVER ( we waited over 45 minutes for our food. My scrambled eggs were dried out on top & the tomatoes slices were not fresh. The eggs had no salt. Even the coffee was lukewarm at best (before adding any milk). You could go to Publix, buy the same ingredients & make your own eggs/toast at home for all under $10. Our waitress was absent, never came by to ask for refills & I had to flag her down for basic requests. SKIP this place - you'll do better going thru a McD's drive thru! For $35, it was a colossal waste of money. PS: the pictures on their website are obviously styled & professionally taken cause they looked nothing like what we ordered!

"Please, sir, I want some more," as Oliver Twist would say. The food here tasted great. I had waffles, scrabbled eggs and sausage. Before I knew it, all that was left on my plate was morsels of crumbs. No complaints about the food. Service was good. It was packed to the brim so of course we had to wait a while. That's to be expected in anyplace that is as popular as this. If I have any complaints, its the chairs. Is it JUST me or do they seem to be a little low to the ground and uncomfortable? Maybe it was just my imagination but I haven't sat in chairs like that since I was in kindergarten. Overall, however, Brunchie's serves above average breakfast with good service and has a good casual-upbeat atmosphere to it. I would definitely come back!

I've been eating at Brunchies for many years, and really enjoy this place. You'll find Brunchies tucked into a strip mall along Dale Mabry in Carrollwood, directly across the street from GrillSmith, and right near YouFit and Abby's Nutritionals. They're open 7 days a week from 7am - 2pm. On my most-recent visit the folks at Brunchies were celebrating 10 years in business, and they were throwing a big party for their customers with all sorts of specials. The dining room was decorated with colorful balloons, and the servers were welcoming all of their patrons as if we were long-lost family members. I've always found the staff to be super-friendly and extremely helpful. They'll gladly walk newcomers through the menu, and explain all of the customization options. It's no wonder that you see so many familiar faces eating in here week after week. The menu is voluminous with all sorts of egg dishes, omelettes, Benedicts (called Benny's), skillet scrambles, and lots of pancakes, waffles, French toast, berry crepes, organic granola, and fresh fruit dishes. If you want to get a little crazy you can order the Chunky Monkey pancakes with bananas, pecans, and chocolate chips, or the guava-stuffed French toast, or the white chocolate waffle to get your day started. If you prefer something heartier then you'll find breakfast burritos, duck bacon, chorizo & eggs, steak & eggs, and shrimp & grits on the menu. If you're a late riser then you'll find a wide assortment of lunch salads, homemade soups, burgers and deli sandwiches on the lunch menu. If you're in the mood for something different then try the turkey cranberry Monte Cristo sandwich, or the grilled Portobello sandwich made with melted Swiss over marinated spinach, roasted red peppers, and Portobello mushrooms served on a brioche bun. I had a big glass of fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice along with a Bayou Omelette which was Cajun-spiced and grilled Gulf shrimp, fresh organic spinach, sautéed mushrooms with Jack cheese stuffed into a 3-egg omelette. and served with grits. YUM!!!! I added some hot sauce and went in for the kill while looking through the windows at the restaurant's community room where the mid-morning bridge tournament was in full swing. Brunchies is definitely a well-loved place in the Carrollwood area, and worth a stop when you're searching for a good breakfast.

Some other reasons this is a fave of mine: 1) Brunchies always features a specialty pancake. In the Fall they have pink pumpkin pancakes that can be topped with praline syrup. Yummm! 2) I don't eat pig bacon and I love, love, love the duck bacon! The turducken Benny has got to be one of my favorite benedicts on the menu. 3) The bagels are flown in from the Bronx. If you've ever eaten baked goods in NYC you'll know why these are special. As always, one of the best breakfasts in Tampa. The Huevos Avocado is an delicious rendition of Eggs Benedict. The breakfast burrito is great too, but they never give me enough salsa. We also had the Very Berry Crepes, no syrup and just the right amount of sweet. Be sure to get their breakfast club card to get some points. I'll be back!

Brunchies is casual breakfast dining. They are very Adkins friendly which we really enjoy the low-carb breakfast. They have a really good lunch menu as well. My favorite is the chicken Waldorf croissant. For breakfast I would recommend the make yourself omelette. Delicious!!

My potatoes were dry for my taste and my bacon was too dry / crunchy. I prefer to enjoy the flavors of bacon when it's slightly underdone. Dry potatoes and dry bacon were the only issues I had with my experience. I would come back but I'd be specific with my order next time.

I can't help but compare it to First Watch. Some items are great. And some are just good. The wait staff is nice, but not overly friendly. It's not always so clean and the coffee station while u wait is usually a mess and almost out of everything with water on the table dripping down to the floor. When u tell the teenager with braces at the hostess stand she rolls her eyes and pretends to do something about it. I just can't get super into this place like lots of people are. To each their own. Not bad not great.

This place is sooo popular and is therefore very loud. They knew my friend by name! I had french toast with blueberries, strawberries and bananas with a side of sausage and rye toast and some hot black tea. The sausage weren't those skinny little things you usually see. No, these were nice, plump and juicy links. VERY Yummy, all of it. Service was wonderful. I strongly recommend it but not for people who are specifically looking for quiet.

Only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because of the service. Our waitress was very quick, attentive and pleasant other than that, not much positive to say. I'm not sure if anyone who has ate here as ever eaten at Nicki's on Hillsborough but there is no comparison. I ordered the breakfast burrito and when you cut into the first bite it looked like they puréed all of the ingredients in a blender. I've seen baby food with better consistency. On top of that it had no taste at all. Even more disappointing were the rice and beans that came with it. I'm pretty sure I've cooked canned rice and beans that traded better. Their homemade hot sauce was the savior of the meal, loaded almost a bottle on top of it and made the meal edible. I was really excited based on the reviews and the fact I just moved into the area and love brunch but this place won't be making the cut for me!

Came here for a late morning brunch, and was greeted and sat pretty quickly. As it was after the breakfast crowd but still before 11, I noticed they had an early bird breakfast deal. The egg Sammie with cheese (bacon comes with but gave that away) comes on your choice of bread or bagel. Had mine on Asiago bagel. Side of potatoes, not the best nor the worst. Kind of meal that is hard to mess up. Server was good up to this point. He dropped off check and then went Mia. Gave me a bum pen and tried flagging down a server to ask for a pen and she said ok but proceeded to whiz by my table several times without stopping. I hate it when you are held hostage by server who is too busy on cell phone to so I decided to get creative and etched my signature and call it a day. Too bad my etching skills didn't reflect my usual tip. Not sure if I would return as the experience didn't blow my socks off.

This is an update to my previous review. My family and I went back today. I prepared myself, and was determined I was going to overwhelm the previously rude hostess that I previously complained about, with kindness, only to find she was not working. Moving on......poor service, incorrect food order delivered to table. Quality of food was fair. Before we left, I went into the LADIES room. Upon entry I noticed our waitress on my left standing by the sinks, on her phone. I walked toward the handicap stall, and upon entry heard a "male" voice from the other stall state that here was still bleach in the stool. When I left, I observed the MALE in the stall next to mine, on his knees, either cleaning or working on the toilet! I approached the waitress, and said " excuse me, I did not notice this bathroom was closed", she replied, " oh, it isn't " WHAT.....???????

Oh. My. God! Absolutely amazing food! I haven't had something this good in a long time. I stopped here really quick while my daughter was in the Preschool Steps program at Gymboree across the street. I wanted some sort of breakfast sandwich with egg. I asked the waiter what his favorite sandwich was and he recommended the Brunchies Classic Club. It came with potatoes on the side. This was the best club sandwich I've ever had! It was so good, and the portion was great. I also waited less than 10 minutes for my order. I will definitely be returning to try the shrimp and grits!

We also got and order of duck bacon which was greasy and undercooked. Also it took 20 minutes to get our food which was crazy because the place was pretty empty. Lastly, the soap in the restroom was extremely watered down so it was like washing up with plain water. This means the staff is also not washing up properly .... Yuck.

We have been a couple times as we are in search of a decent breakfast place in the lutz area. We were devout regulars at another brunch restaurant, but changes in staff and upset stomachs made us rethink our patronage. It is truly a solid brunch restaurant. Friendly staff, good food, and some interesting twists if you are adventerous. They can be busy, so patience is necessary at times. However, so are other similar establishments in suburbia. We had special requests and they were honored with a smile. There was a little mix up with an order, but it was corrected quickly. I am pleased to report we came away full, happy, and without upset stomachs of any kind. I would recommend giving Brunchies a try as it beats the area competition with a smile. Edited: I would recommend visiting on a day when the owners are working, as there is a totally different vibe when they are present. When they are present and in the dining room, it runs like a well oiled machine. When they are not - anarchy. Lol. Unfortunately the latest experience we had was not good - wrong food brought out, food was not made to order and inedible, and we were still charged for the plate. This is one thing that will truly lose my business - a kitchen and server that don't pay attention to order specifics. Given this I am most likely striking this from our breakfast rotation. Very disappointing........thankfully I was able to run in to Abby's and grab something after the family ate their meals. Therefore former 4 star rating moved to 2. :(

This is a breakfast staple in the Tampa Bay area. Formerly called "J. Christopher's," this breakfast joint serves up a variety of familiar breakfast platters as well as unique options like duck bacon. I have been a regular patron to this establishment for the past two years, and I keep coming back for more. Personal favorites include the duck bacon and the route 66 skillet. Pro tip: add goat cheese to anything you order. The interior is a little overwhelming at first, meaning that it resembles a giant dining room with very little partitions between tables, offering little for those seeking privacy. There is a separate room immediately to the right, and I've noticed that the temperature tends to be a little on the cooler side, so I generally try to sit there or at the bar area. Pro tip: Bar area is first come first serve. The service is capital. I haven't met a server who wasn't on top of his/her game. Restrooms have always been clean and well-kept. They also offer a rewards program, so be sure to ask about that. Duck bacon: I have never heard of duck bacon before coming to this place. It sounds like it might be odd/gamey at first, but rest assured that the "bacon" is very meaty, slightly lower in fat than pork bacon, and much better than turkey bacon.

Brunchies has a very extensive menu, so everyone should be able to find something they will like. My husband created his own omelet and I got the breakfast with egg whites, fruit, and turkey sausage (I forget the name). His was very good and mine was as good as it can be for turkey sausage and egg whites. :) It was a tad pricey for breakfast, but well worth the cost. It's a pretty big restaraunt, so I imagine they get busy on weekends. The service was perfect.

It was my first time at Brunchies... And it was just an ok experience... There was no waiting to be seating, staff was nice enough, but mediocre food. My food was deliver'D and was incorrect. If you are into SCRAMBLED eggs this place is hopeless, you get more of and egg omelet with cheese on top. My eggs were cold... Do you precook eggs? My French toast had a good taste, but was cold. It wasn't super busy so to deliver cold food kinda bewildered me. My friend order'D the turkey avocado scramble and it was ok, seemed to be missing something taste wise though.. She also had pancake that was so cold the butter wouldn't melt. They do have duck bacon, it was my first time trying it and it was pretty good. The waiter was extremely nice but made many mistakes. Overall it was just an ok experience, I'd choose Waffle House any day.

We ordered breakfast everyone hungry. 30 mins later it was the wrong Order for $34 you just expect more. And food may have been good here but I wouldn't know it and we aren't coming back to find out. Brunchies is located across the street from grillsmith and serves up great, unpretentious breakfast for a reasonable price. Their blueberry crunch Pancakes were great and my hubby enjoyed his duck bacon-yep. You heard me right...duck bacon. I ordered the veggie omlette. Although it wasn't spectacular, it was a solid choice. I would suggest arriving before 9am. Otherwise you might be waiting a bit.

The blueberry crunch cakes are some of the best pancakes I've ever had, that good. This was first time for my wife and I to eat at brunchies. Services was good. Friendly and helpful. I had eggs grits, turkey sausage and blue berry crunch pancakes and coffee to drink. Coffee was okay but not best. The pancakes where different but taste. Overall just a average place. The main dinning area was loud but they do have different dinning that was quieter. Luckily we we where not in the main dinning area. Not sure if I will return for a second visit.

I measure brunch places based on basic things such as the quality and freshness of their coffee (5-stars), how well they can make egged (eggs should be perfect at a place like this - who messes up eggs anyway) and the service - is my glass full, am I waiting forever and how long does it take for my food to come. Great place for brunch. Just be aware that you might have to wait a bit to be seat especially on the weekend. My boyfriend and I ended up sitting at the "bar" area since it was the shortest wait. They hostess and the waiter were both very courteous and tried to get us seated quickly and brought the food out in a timely manner despite how busy it was on Sunday.

This is another breakfast place that is a waste of time. I have been here twice and not a fan. Our table was dirty and had to let the staff know. Of course the table was wiped down with a sour smelling rag. The staff was running around like they weren't sure which direction they should be going in. Food was tasteless. The restaurant wasn't even busy yet for such a bad experience.

A friend and I came here for brunch last weekend and we were very impressed! They had a pretty large menu with a lot to choose from. We shared the guava cream cheese french toast (phenomenal) and eggs benedict with spinach and sundried tomatoes. We had never seen guava french toast before on any menu so we had to try it. I'm so glad we decided to share because it was huge! Very very sweet so if you don't have a sweet tooth this is not for you. They make their own hot sauce, fairly spicy but it added a nice kick to our benedict. I will definitely be coming back I prefer it much more than First Watch as a go to breakfast joint.

We will definitely be coming back! The place was very busy when we got there (11:30am on a Sunday) but we only had to wait about 10 minutes. It was clean, and the staff was very attentive despite being very busy. Our server was very nice and brought our drinks very quickly. The menu is a bit large, so it took me some time to decide what I wanted but she was very patient. My boyfriend got the chimichurri steak and eggs...It was excellent! We've been visiting Brunchies through numerous name incarnations (J. Christophers, then J.C.s then Brunchies) and the menu has stayed the same, the food pretty good, and the overall experience what one would expect from a popular brunch place on the weekends. I am not a big fan of sweets (pancakes, french toast) for brunch so much of their menu is rather lost on me. But oh do I LOVE eggs. Their omelets (the Western being my go-to) are large and packed with fillings. I love that the English muffins always come out with just a tiny ring of char on the edges (I like my toast very TOASTED). The Route 66 skillet is another favorite. Some reviews refer to the fact the corned beef hash comes out of a can. Perhaps - but I actively dislike places that serve huge cubes of beef with a few scant potatoes and perhaps my tastes are just pedestrian, but when I order hash, I sort of expect it to be like the canned kind. Brunchies makes their own chorizo in-house, which does explain why it is featured in so many of the breakfast items. I tried the Breakfast Burrito on one visit and was very confused when it appeared to be diced breakfast sausage in the burrito. While I rarely send things back, I did bring the matter to the waiter's attention and the next thing I knew, the owner was peering critically at my burrito, proclaimed it "not chorizo" and whisked my plate away to have a tete-et-tete with the kitchen. From the look on his face, whichever chef thought the customer wouldn't notice the substitution got quite the earful. Very quickly, I had a fresh burrito in front of me with actual chorizo. It was very nicely done - spiced but no blow-your-head-off spicy and not as greasy as chorizo can sometimes be. Branched out recently and tried the Brunchies' Classic Club - which is anything but the same old, same old. I love a good club sandwich and theirs, with thick-cut bacon crisped up nicely, a smear of honey-mustard, and topped with a fried egg blew me away. Really good and paired with the loaded potato salad, I had a hearty lunch of 1/2 the sandwich the next day. Above average food, good service and a great location for my fam - Brunchies will remain in our top 5 for brunch.

This is literally the best breakfast place I've had the pleasure of going to! I was impressed with all aspects of dining here. It was clean, the staff was friendly, the food was great. I had the "turduckin" Benny which is duck bacon , turkey, and tomato eggs Benedict. I really liked the duck bacon. My girlfriend had portabello croissant Benny. Our server, Felipe, was great and attentive and upbeat. I Plan on coming here many times more!

I've been here twice with friends. The wait is better here than First Watch down the street on Dale Mabry so it's a better weekend brunch option. I tried going healthy wheat germ and blueberry pancakes to make up for my delicious but super rich chunky monkey pancakes I had previously, but that was a stupid choice on my part. I should try those blueberry crunch ones though. My friends liked their egg dishes (menu is so large I can't remember which ones, sorry). Waiters are nice and attentive.

Brunchies has an extensive menu, and everything sounded really good. From early risers, to skinny meals, to south of the border brunch menu. Sounds like a great thing, however when you order their meal it's very small in portion. Granted the prices are very cheap, it's still a small brunch portion that you get. I ordered the buccaneer feast which consisted of Blueberry pancakes or maple french toast (can also be substituted with waffles for an extra price), Choice of bacon or sausages, potatoes, and two style of eggs. All that for $8.99, pretty good but again small portions. Everything came out great, except for the bacons which tasted as if it had been frozen for a long time so it had that freezer burn taste to it. Other than that it is an ok brunch place if you are in the area. I'd return and try other items on their menu. Other people in the tables around me ordered their steak and chimichurri which looked very good.

There are few secrets about a place called "Brunchies" which are not divulged by the name itself. It is cutesy, it is all about brunch, and it is frequented by people who find rare satisfaction in contemplating the latest oeuvre of Mary Engelbreit. You may wonder why there are so many references to "J. Christopher's" in other reviews. This was very recently a link in that restaurant chain -- so recently that the charge on my card still appeared as J CHRISTOPHERS. The menu has not diverged significantly. The menu is unintentionally hilarious. The description of a bowl of granola namedrops Ewell (sic) Gibbons, a name that has seldom been uttered since the original granola craze of the 1960s and its chief proponent, Euell Gibbons. Much more alarming is the "Cheval Burger". Horse meat has recently been legalized, and if you know any French at all, you'd be forgiven for believing there were no ground-up cows in the Cheval Burger. Cheval, after all, is French for horse. I asked our server if Brunchies was serving horsemeat. Since he thought of Cheval as a nearby subdivision about which I hadn't known, he was utterly confused. To him, it meant "Agrestic Burger". To be clear: the Cheval Burger does not contain any ground-up horses. It is 100% ground-up cows. This probably comes as a great relief to you, which is why I find carnivores deeply weird. In honor of my fellow vegetarians, I had a breakfast that would make Mr. Ed's mouth water: apple-oat pancakes. They weren't bad. A little dry, perhaps, which made them a perfect match for my sense of humor.

I have been a regular here since they opened. It was J. Christopher's back then, but they still have the same great food, and I love that the servers know us by name. I ran into the owner at IFW Festival at Epcot one evening and stopped for a chat. He is a fan of trying new items on the specials page and this was the first place I ever tried duck bacon. Great food, good prices. I usually take friends from out of town here when they visit.

Excellent food, the menu is almost overwhelming. My wife have the Bronx Benny, poached eggs served over lox, on a toasted plain bagel. The hollandaise sauce was out of this world. I had the buckwheat pancakes. They were delicious. The coffee is just OK, and the service was on top of our needs and very helpful and smiling. Their bagels are flown in from NY/Bronx. You could taste the difference. Highly recommend to any before dinner adventurers.

Looking for a breakfast place other than the chain restaurants, we found Brunchies on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Food was great, servers friendly and the atmosphere was great. I had shrimp and grits and they were awesome, hubby had the more traditional eggs/sausage breakfast and was also very pleased. We will be back! The server signed us up for a rewards card and also told us about the ever changing menu, so we're looking forward to going back to see what is new! Highly reccommend!

This is another "What kind of person are you?" place. Food specifics: 1) The 'home fries' are Ore-Ida frozen home fries. They were over-cooked and stale. 2) The hollandaise sauce was from a mix. 3) The corned beef hash was from a can. 4) The over-easy eggs were delivered cooked through, solid. Now, to me, this says, "Never go here again." They don't make real food there, they open cans and heat stuff up. And it doesn't take particularly good if you've developed a taste for real food. However... If you regularly eat at McDonalds, you might like this. If your idea of 'gourmet' is the Hardees ThickBurger, this will seem like an acceptable experience. If you grade the place on that curve, there's nothing wrong with Brunchies. What I'd say was wrong no matter who you are was the waiting: the quoted ten-minute wait for a table was 40 minutes, food took another 35 minutes, and it took our server 10 minutes to get us our check after eating, and another fifteen to pick it up and run the card, and that's after we finally flagged down the hostess and asked to have someone take our money. It was also incredibly loud. Wow. Yet the place was jammed--it's certainly popular. That's Tampa for you, to be sure; if ever a place like Brunchies was going to succeed it'd be in central Florida. If you're from out of town, though, that's what you're getting into.

I decided to try out this place because I noticed that they stated that they were dog friendly, (which is obviously hard to find in a restaurant) and my family was in town with our dog so we decided to try out this place. We went on a Sunday at about 9am and sat outside with our dog, and at first the hostess gave us quite a weird look, which is understandable I suppose. But then our server came out and was extremely friendly and offered our dog water and was extremely attentive. The food took about 20 minutes to come out and was delicious! I ordered the bacon bits waffles, and it was absolutely perfect. My sisters were both very pleased with their meal as well. Although I never saw the inside of the restaurant, I would still recommend this place based on the food and the customer service.

Wife and I ate breakfast on 1/29/14 at 10:30 am. Wife had plain short stack of pancakes took one bite and would not eat anymore said it was very dry/stale tasting. I had the Buccaneer Feast- 2 eggs over easy was fine, turkey sausage was dry no taste, potatoes were over cooked and the maple french toast was nothing to write home about. Only about half dozen people in the restaurant at the time and it took a long time to get waited on. Ordered Cafe Con Leche it arrived just barely warm. The waitress came by one time and asked if I wanted anything else and I asked for another coffee and she did not bring another coffee just the bill. I waited for her to come back an take the money but never saw her again, so I left the cash and small tip and left. I will not eat there again.

My wife and I rode our bikes to Brunchies on a beautiful Sunday in January and were not dissapointed. The place was pretty packed but we found a fine spot on the first come first served dining area which was perfectly adequate. The servers were friendly and somewhat fast given how busy the place was. I had the Eggs Benedict and Fried Green Tomatos which was as good as I have ever had. My wife had a more traditional breakfast with Crunchy Blueberry Pancakes which were just ok. All in all it was a great experience and suspect my wife will get the Eggs Benedict next time we go.

Nestled in the same plaza as Bally's and next to Cafe Eden, Brucnhies is a nice breakfast/brunch/lunch spot off in Carrolwood on North Dale Mabry Blvd between Fletcher Ave. and Bearrs/Ehrlich Ave. They offer a nice selection of breakfast and lunch choices, some which distinguishes the place from other BBL (breakfast, brunch, lunch) joints in the area. Some items such as their Lobster Bruschetta add a nice change to the menu for BBL, but only for those that are willing to test the waters (i did not order the Lobster Bruschetta, this time). The wife and I both ordered traditional breakfast entrees. I originally ordered the Route 66 skillet, but they were out of corned beef hash(this saddened me quite drastic, jk) so instead I ordered the Traditional Breakfast which came with 2 eggs (I ordered scrambled well), bacon, potatoes and English muffin. My breakfast was alright seeing that these are pretty hard items to mess up. I did wish my bacon to be softer, but it was still good. They used a thick cut style bacon which I like. The potatoes were salty but not too bad, possibly a lil heavy on the seasoning. They reminded me of Irish potatoes so don't expect too much flavor. The wife ordered Strawberry crepes and I must say that they visually appealing. I'm not a fruit fan, but my wife said the dish was delicious. The strawberry compote was nice and warm. Also the strawberries were still somewhat firm and not soggy like the Cheesecake Factory's strawberries. Overall, Brunchies is a nice place for breakfast. On Sunday's do expect a 10-15 minute wait possibly due to late risers from Saturday night clubbin and church goers. The do attract a diverse crowd and with a diverse menu, rightfully so.

The thing I like about J. Christophers is that the service is always good. The people are REALLY friendly and that makes my day especially when it's my first meal. On a scale of local breakfast/brunch places, this place is above First Watch but doesn't quite meet Jackson's but it's very close. The food is fresh, taste amazing, and the prices are just right. I usually get the egg white omelet with toast and potatoes. It's good. The pancakes are also very good too. They are pretty big so have someone help you out. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and made locally. The difference between getting something in the store and the fresh squeezed is remarkable. It's a must have. The other thing I like about J. Christophers is that it makes its own hot sauce. It's soooo good! It's not a vinegar based pepper sauce. it's more like a thinner salsa with a tomato base. If you like spicy, you'll love it! And yes, they'll sell you a bottle. Many people have remarked how good it is when I let other people try it.

JCs has been pretty consistent for me. I like it better than First Watch (not that FW is bad) because they have more bkfast options and a "bar" which makes it easier for singles and couples to get in and out without having to take up an entire table. Sadly service can be a bit lacking at the bar but I've only been on weekend mornings and time is not an issue. Food is good, eggs bene usually prepared correctly.

We went back to J. Christophers today and were a bit disappointed. The first thing we noticed was how dirty the place was....so much stuff...wrappers, crumbs... on the floor and a lot of the tables still had dirty dishes. To get to our table, we actually had to walk around ketchup on the carpeting (disgusting!). We were seated in the side room and it must have been 10 degrees cooler than the main room. I asked for decaf coffee and what I got was a carafe of cold coffee. Also felt like Romper Room in there today. I still don't understand why in today's day and age, parents do not discipline their children. When I grew up, if we were at a table, we were told to sit down and sit still. These kids were standing on the chairs while Dad looked at his cell phone and Mom didn't say anything. I don't think we will go back again. We'll stick with First Watch.

3.5 Stars! Brunchies is our spot during our birthday months. You get a free entree coupon the month of your birthday. One entree of higher value is free. Breakfast options are in abundance here. More than a lot of other breakfasts in Tampa in my opinion. But, the execution of the food is not always great. It doesn't mean it tastes bad. I just don't think detail to them is as important. For example, I guess they are known for the benedicts. That is what our server said. If so, they should be awesome so I picked the special Crab Benedict. It was alright, but the bread was soggy. The eggs were just kinda tossed on the bread. My hubby loves their skillets. You can create your own skillets and omelets, but toppings you choose have different prices, & you don't know how much they cost. It does not say. Just an FYI, the back room is quieter. The main room is LOUD!!!! You can sit at the bar, & not wait if you want. The server Jorge, who is new is pretty helpful and nice. He made a mistake & rang up an omelet instead of skillet. Oops, it happened. He got it taken care of ASAP. I noticed the male hostess was yelling about his coworker in the front. I heard it too. Totally, not professional. So Yep! This place is interesting to say the least. Zoo-like perhaps at times, but I guess with it being loud, people like it.

This is probably the WORST breakfast place I have ever been to - never again! My "go to" breakfast/brunch place has always been First Watch but we thought we would give this place a try - WRONG, so very, very wrong :-( The interior is pretty basic & boring, a little on the drab side. We were seated right away & the menu looks great (lots of options). My friend & I ordered pretty basic stuff (eggs & toast) - it took FOREVER ( we waited over 45 minutes for our food. My scrambled eggs were dried out on top & the tomatoes slices were not fresh. The eggs had no salt. Even the coffee was lukewarm at best (before adding any milk). You could go to Publix, buy the same ingredients & make your own eggs/toast at home for all under $10. Our waitress was absent, never came by to ask for refills & I had to flag her down for basic requests. SKIP this place - you'll do better going thru a McD's drive thru! For $35, it was a colossal waste of money. PS: the pictures on their website are obviously styled & professionally taken cause they looked nothing like what we ordered!

"Please, sir, I want some more," as Oliver Twist would say. The food here tasted great. I had waffles, scrabbled eggs and sausage. Before I knew it, all that was left on my plate was morsels of crumbs. No complaints about the food. Service was good. It was packed to the brim so of course we had to wait a while. That's to be expected in anyplace that is as popular as this. If I have any complaints, its the chairs. Is it JUST me or do they seem to be a little low to the ground and uncomfortable? Maybe it was just my imagination but I haven't sat in chairs like that since I was in kindergarten. Overall, however, Brunchie's serves above average breakfast with good service and has a good casual-upbeat atmosphere to it. I would definitely come back!

I've been eating at Brunchies for many years, and really enjoy this place. You'll find Brunchies tucked into a strip mall along Dale Mabry in Carrollwood, directly across the street from GrillSmith, and right near YouFit and Abby's Nutritionals. They're open 7 days a week from 7am - 2pm. On my most-recent visit the folks at Brunchies were celebrating 10 years in business, and they were throwing a big party for their customers with all sorts of specials. The dining room was decorated with colorful balloons, and the servers were welcoming all of their patrons as if we were long-lost family members. I've always found the staff to be super-friendly and extremely helpful. They'll gladly walk newcomers through the menu, and explain all of the customization options. It's no wonder that you see so many familiar faces eating in here week after week. The menu is voluminous with all sorts of egg dishes, omelettes, Benedicts (called Benny's), skillet scrambles, and lots of pancakes, waffles, French toast, berry crepes, organic granola, and fresh fruit dishes. If you want to get a little crazy you can order the Chunky Monkey pancakes with bananas, pecans, and chocolate chips, or the guava-stuffed French toast, or the white chocolate waffle to get your day started. If you prefer something heartier then you'll find breakfast burritos, duck bacon, chorizo & eggs, steak & eggs, and shrimp & grits on the menu. If you're a late riser then you'll find a wide assortment of lunch salads, homemade soups, burgers and deli sandwiches on the lunch menu. If you're in the mood for something different then try the turkey cranberry Monte Cristo sandwich, or the grilled Portobello sandwich made with melted Swiss over marinated spinach, roasted red peppers, and Portobello mushrooms served on a brioche bun. I had a big glass of fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice along with a Bayou Omelette which was Cajun-spiced and grilled Gulf shrimp, fresh organic spinach, sautéed mushrooms with Jack cheese stuffed into a 3-egg omelette. and served with grits. YUM!!!! I added some hot sauce and went in for the kill while looking through the windows at the restaurant's community room where the mid-morning bridge tournament was in full swing. Brunchies is definitely a well-loved place in the Carrollwood area, and worth a stop when you're searching for a good breakfast.

Brunchies is one of my go to breakfast joints. The coffee is good, you get super friendly service, and there's tons of scrumptious breakfast choices on the menu. Some other reasons this is a fave of mine: 1) Brunchies always features a specialty pancake. In the Fall they have pink pumpkin pancakes that can be topped with praline syrup. Yummm! 2) I don't eat pig bacon and I love, love, love the duck bacon! The turducken Benny has got to be one of my favorite benedicts on the menu. 3) The bagels are flown in from the Bronx. If you've ever eaten baked goods in NYC you'll know why these are special. I get a bag to go after eating a breakfast. 4) When there's a wait you can eat at the low-top bar/lunch counter-looking seating on a first come first served basis and still get exceptional service. 5) Freshly Squeezed OJ

As always, one of the best breakfasts in Tampa. The Huevos Avocado is an delicious rendition of Eggs Benedict. The breakfast burrito is great too, but they never give me enough salsa. We also had the Very Berry Crepes, no syrup and just the right amount of sweet. Be sure to get their breakfast club card to get some points. I'll be back!

Brunchies is casual breakfast dining. They are very Adkins friendly which we really enjoy the low-carb breakfast. They have a really good lunch menu as well. My favorite is the chicken Waldorf croissant. For breakfast I would recommend the make yourself omelette. Delicious!!

This is nice clean inviting place to enjoy breakfast. With that said, I got a basic breakfast (triple play). My poached eggs were great. My potatoes were dry for my taste and my bacon was too dry / crunchy. I prefer to enjoy the flavors of bacon when it's slightly underdone. Dry potatoes and dry bacon were the only issues I had with my experience. I would come back but I'd be specific with my order next time.

I can't help but compare it to First Watch. Some items are great. And some are just good. The wait staff is nice, but not overly friendly. It's not always so clean and the coffee station while u wait is usually a mess and almost out of everything with water on the table dripping down to the floor. When u tell the teenager with braces at the hostess stand she rolls her eyes and pretends to do something about it. I just can't get super into this place like lots of people are. To each their own. Not bad not great.

This was the most flavorful breakfast I have had in a long time. We received excellent service, and all the ingredients used were fresh. I ordered the huevos avocado, which is like an eggs benedict with cheese and avocado added. It was served with home fries. It was amazing. Only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because of the service. Our waitress was very quick, attentive and pleasant other than that, not much positive to say. I'm not sure if anyone who has ate here as ever eaten at Nicki's on Hillsborough but there is no comparison. I ordered the breakfast burrito and when you cut into the first bite it looked like they puréed all of the ingredients in a blender. I've seen baby food with better consistency. On top of that it had no taste at all. Even more disappointing were the rice and beans that came with it. I'm pretty sure I've cooked canned rice and beans that traded better. Their homemade hot sauce was the savior of the meal, loaded almost a bottle on top of it and made the meal edible. I was really excited based on the reviews and the fact I just moved into the area and love brunch but this place won't be making the cut for me!

Came here for a late morning brunch, and was greeted and sat pretty quickly. As it was after the breakfast crowd but still before 11, I noticed they had an early bird breakfast deal. The egg Sammie with cheese (bacon comes with but gave that away) comes on your choice of bread or bagel. Had mine on Asiago bagel. Side of potatoes, not the best nor the worst. Kind of meal that is hard to mess up. Server was good up to this point. He dropped off check and then went Mia. Gave me a bum pen and tried flagging down a server to ask for a pen and she said ok but proceeded to whiz by my table several times without stopping. I hate it when you are held hostage by server who is too busy on cell phone to so I decided to get creative and etched my signature and call it a day. Too bad my etching skills didn't reflect my usual tip. Not sure if I would return as the experience didn't blow my socks off.

I had french toast with blueberries, strawberries and bananas with a side of sausage and rye toast and some hot black tea. The sausage weren't those skinny little things you usually see. No, these were nice, plump and juicy links. VERY Yummy, all of it. Service was wonderful. I strongly recommend it but not for people who are specifically looking for quiet.

This is my favorite breakfast restaurant in the area. I order either an omelet or the make your own skillet. I love avocado and they put fresh slices on top of either and are not stingy. My husband gets their sweet dishes and often tries their specials. He always enjoys his meal! Love that they do seasonal dishes as well. Service is good and if it's not too busy you can get in and out quickly. Parking is easy!

This is an update to my previous review. My family and I went back today. I prepared myself, and was determined I was going to overwhelm the previously rude hostess that I previously complained about, with kindness, only to find she was not working. Moving on......poor service, incorrect food order delivered to table. Quality of food was fair. Before we left, I went into the LADIES room. Upon entry I noticed our waitress on my left standing by the sinks, on her phone. I walked toward the handicap stall, and upon entry heard a "male" voice from the other stall state that here was still bleach in the stool. When I left, I observed the MALE in the stall next to mine, on his knees, either cleaning or working on the toilet! I approached the waitress, and said " excuse me, I did not notice this bathroom was closed", she replied, " oh, it isn't " WHAT.....???????

The the graders were very nice and their waitresses very nice also was quick with getting our drinks and service was good. The only bad part which was the most important part was the food. I had biscuits and gravy and it was pretty bad the gravy was from a jar what cut up pieces of sausage. The biscuit was freezer burned and had a horrible taste. So sad since this is a staple here in the south my wife had the huevos rancheros and it was bad... Black beans?? barely cooked and and the Chorizo was well just not very Mexican or spicy. decent place, nice people, but food was sub par.

Christopher's," this breakfast joint serves up a variety of familiar breakfast platters as well as unique options like duck bacon. I have been a regular patron to this establishment for the past two years, and I keep coming back for more. Personal favorites include the duck bacon and the route 66 skillet. Pro tip: add goat cheese to anything you order. The interior is a little overwhelming at first, meaning that it resembles a giant dining room with very little partitions between tables, offering little for those seeking privacy. There is a separate room immediately to the right, and I've noticed that the temperature tends to be a little on the cooler side, so I generally try to sit there or at the bar area. Pro tip: Bar area is first come first serve. The service is capital. I haven't met a server who wasn't on top of his/her game. Restrooms have always been clean and well-kept. They also offer a rewards program, so be sure to ask about that. Duck bacon: I have never heard of duck bacon before coming to this place. It sounds like it might be odd/gamey at first, but rest assured that the "bacon" is very meaty, slightly lower in fat than pork bacon, and much better than turkey bacon.

Oh. My. God! Absolutely amazing food! I haven't had something this good in a long time. I stopped here really quick while my daughter was in the Preschool Steps program at Gymboree across the street. I wanted some sort of breakfast sandwich with egg. I asked the waiter what his favorite sandwich was and he recommended the Brunchies Classic Club. It came with potatoes on the side. This was the best club sandwich I've ever had! It was so good, and the portion was great. I also waited less than 10 minutes for my order. I will definitely be returning to try the shrimp and grits!

We have been a couple times as we are in search of a decent breakfast place in the lutz area. We were devout regulars at another brunch restaurant, but changes in staff and upset stomachs made us rethink our patronage. It is truly a solid brunch restaurant. Friendly staff, good food, and some interesting twists if you are adventerous. They can be busy, so patience is necessary at times. However, so are other similar establishments in suburbia. We had special requests and they were honored with a smile. There was a little mix up with an order, but it was corrected quickly. I am pleased to report we came away full, happy, and without upset stomachs of any kind. I would recommend giving Brunchies a try as it beats the area competition with a smile. Edited: I would recommend visiting on a day when the owners are working, as there is a totally different vibe when they are present. When they are present and in the dining room, it runs like a well oiled machine. When they are not - anarchy. Lol. Unfortunately the latest experience we had was not good - wrong food brought out, food was not made to order and inedible, and we were still charged for the plate. This is one thing that will truly lose my business - a kitchen and server that don't pay attention to order specifics. Given this I am most likely striking this from our breakfast rotation. Very disappointing........thankfully I was able to run in to Abby's and grab something after the family ate their meals. Therefore former 4 star rating moved to 2. :(

Best place to grab some brunch in the Tampa area! It is always busy but the service is quick and the food tastes amazing! Prices are good for the amount of food you get. If you are really hungry then the Bucs feast is for you!

Brunchies has a very extensive menu, so everyone should be able to find something they will like. My husband created his own omelet and I got the breakfast with egg whites, fruit, and turkey sausage (I forget the name). His was very good and mine was as good as it can be for turkey sausage and egg whites. :) It was a tad pricey for breakfast, but well worth the cost. It's a pretty big restaraunt, so I imagine they get busy on weekends. The service was perfect.

It was my first time at Brunchies... And it was just an ok experience... There was no waiting to be seating, staff was nice enough, but mediocre food. My food was deliver'D and was incorrect. If you are into SCRAMBLED eggs this place is hopeless, you get more of and egg omelet with cheese on top. My eggs were cold... Do you precook eggs? My French toast had a good taste, but was cold. It wasn't super busy so to deliver cold food kinda bewildered me. My friend order'D the turkey avocado scramble and it was ok, seemed to be missing something taste wise though.. She also had pancake that was so cold the butter wouldn't melt. They do have duck bacon, it was my first time trying it and it was pretty good. The waiter was extremely nice but made many mistakes. Overall it was just an ok experience, I'd choose Waffle House any day.

I would leave zero stars if I could. This was a back experience. from service to food. One of the waitress order a manager and no one came. We ordered breakfast everyone hungry. 30 mins later it was the wrong Order for $34 you just expect more. And food may have been good here but I wouldn't know it and we aren't coming back to find out. Two kids and only one plate comes out 1st after 20mins of waiting. If it wasn't for the the second child having to eat I would have left long time ago. We will not be coming back.

Brunchies is located across the street from grillsmith and serves up great, unpretentious breakfast for a reasonable price. Their blueberry crunch Pancakes were great and my hubby enjoyed his duck bacon-yep. You heard me right...duck bacon. I ordered the veggie omlette. Although it wasn't spectacular, it was a solid choice. I would suggest arriving before 9am. Otherwise you might be waiting a bit.

Been here dozens of times over the years and have never had a bad experience. Only been for breakfast/brunch and would probably stick to that. The blueberry crunch cakes are some of the best pancakes I've ever had, that good. Get a shortstack or even just a single pancake because these things are way, way too big for a normal person to eat three and one would be a normal portion.

This was first time for my wife and I to eat at brunchies. Services was good. Friendly and helpful. I had eggs grits, turkey sausage and blue berry crunch pancakes and coffee to drink. Coffee was okay but not best. The pancakes where different but taste. Overall just a average place. The main dinning area was loud but they do have different dinning that was quieter. Luckily we we where not in the main dinning area. Not sure if I will return for a second visit.

So it's a noisy place but don't let that put you off. Quantities of the food are above par, especially compared to First Watch. Eggs William were ok, as was the bacon. My brunch sandwich was good... That is why I gave 2 stars and not 1. My husbands burger was messy and forgettable, kids pancakes were dry and their bacon was burnt. We also got and order of duck bacon which was greasy and undercooked. Also it took 20 minutes to get our food which was crazy because the place was pretty empty. Lastly, the soap in the restroom was extremely watered down so it was like washing up with plain water. This means the staff is also not washing up properly .... Yuck.

We had a group of 7 go today and enjoyed the food. I made a reservation and changed the time multiple times and they were able to seat us when we wanted. The food was quick and the server was great. One person had eggs that were dry but every one else loved their meal. Our total bill was only $110. The prices are low and food taste great, you can't beat it!!

Great brunch spot! I had the Goddess Omelette and it was amazing! We were seated immediately on Saturday late morning at 11:45am and the service was prompt and attentive. I measure brunch places based on basic things such as the quality and freshness of their coffee (5-stars), how well they can make egged (eggs should be perfect at a place like this - who messes up eggs anyway) and the service - is my glass full, am I waiting forever and how long does it take for my food to come. Happy to shop local here as the experience was excellent. Keep it up Brunchies!!! We will be back.

I had the Billy Goat Omelette which consists of fresh organic spinach, portobello mushrooms and roasted red peppers with creamy fresh goat cheese. Comes with oven-roasted potatoes. Not bad, but nothing amazing either. Potatoes were a little on the bland side. Service is decent. Restaurant is clean.

Coffee - 3.5 stars Kyle's Omelet - 4 stars Potatoes - 0 stars Waited about 20 min to sit down, ~35-40 min to get our food. Seeing as how busy they were, I was expecting better food. The meat lovers (Kyle's) omelet was very good. Smaller than the "3 eggs" they claim it has in there, but very good. Coffee was also above average. Strong and not watered down at all. As for the rest of the food on the plate? Awful. Potatoes were terribly bland. I can't even describe how they tasted because I only had a few bites before I decided enough was enough.

Brunchies is definitely a place to go for lovers of all breakfast/brunch food. The menu is extensive and there are so many different options to choose from. I had a hard time narrowing down my choices, and finally settled on the Florentine Benny. I can't say that my dish measured up to my excitement after seeing the menu. The Florentine Benny is an English muffin with a poached egg over sautéed spinach and sun dried tomatoes, topped with hollandaise sauce. The food here doesn't seem very fresh, much more like cheap diner food, minus the cheap. The poached egg was nice and runny, but the little spinach that I got was very oily, and the sun dried tomatoes were very hard and short small strips that were overly dried, almost as if they were left in an open container overnight. The hollandaise sauce was also very thick and congealed almost immediately, which made it seem like it was made from a powder or mix. The service here is also very rushed since the place is constantly busy with people coming in and out, whether for a meal or for a cup of coffee with the morning newspaper. I came here to catch up with a friend, and we definitely felt pushed to order then pushed to leave after finishing. At the price of almost $9 for a lackluster meal that wasn't even very filling, I would prefer going somewhere else for breakfast/brunch next time.

Two stars might be too nice! The quality of the food is less than average and the price is high. We waited almost 40 minutes for our food to come out and it was barely warm when it did get to the table. It's slightly dirty. I'm sorry we didn't go to First Watch because we would have paid the same for better quality food and a clean atmosphere. The only bright side was our waitress was very nice and attentive.

So I'm kind of on the fence with this one. While the food was good, there were allot of other factors that make it not good enough. This place is super busy, but after sitting there waiting for awhile, and what normally should be an hour max, for breakfast, took almost two. You will definitely wait 20min for a table, and while the servers are attentive and friendly, you will wait another 35-40 minutes for your food once you place the order. While watching, I noticed not allot of food coming out of the kitchen..seems really slow. I think half the battle and reason why it's so busy, is because the kitchen can't keep up. Also, you can spend about $8 on three chocolate chip pancakes and get nothing else with it, I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous! So I ended up getting eggs Benny with salmon. It was OK. Honestly, I enjoyed the same thing allot better at Daily Eats, who are just as busy, half the size, but allot faster. This place makes breakfast feel like a project, our whole experience with this place took almost two hours. Breakfast should not be complicated, and while the food is good, it is not worth the headache that comes with it. Not when there's so many other options in Tampa.

This place is what I was expecting- a few notches above a diner, with delicious but reasonably priced breakfast and lunch foods. We went at 10:30 on a Sunday morning and only had to wait 5 minutes for a table which was nice. Our server was friendly and our food was great (I got the Florentine Benedict and the vanilla latte-both delicious). The reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it's nothing mind blowing and also this manager type young woman with long dark hair was talking very nasty to the teens working as greeters and they didn't seem to be doing anything wrong. I hate seeing 'managers' who are only teens/young 20-somethings themselves act as if they are running a militant campaign. She put me off my breakfast with her screeching voice and nasty attitude.

My business networking group meets here every week at 7:30a on Thursdays. Its been about 4 months now and the service has been great. They've even gone so far as to make a special menu just for us. It helps them streamline our orders and we get the specific items we love. They even have a small and larger room available just for groups like ours. I suggest you come by and check it out and get my personal favorite, its the club sandwich with a fried egg on it. It will fill you up for the rest of the day.

Fittingly had brunch @ Brunchies. Huge menu, but dont let you think the food suffers because of it, this place has figured out how to take breakfast like mom used to make and keep the relaxed at home atmosphere. The only thing that beats the food is the fantastic service and managers. Try the crunch cakes, venetian omlette, and absolutely DONT MISS the duck bacon.

The food at this place is Awesome!!! When you go, and you should, you should have the Blueberry Crunch pancakes!!!! Nothing else like it! I would also suggest the Alfredo's Breakfast Burrito.... Service here is fantastic as well!

Went to Brunchies when my "first" brunch place was too crowded... I went in with good intentions...really. All I wanted was a fruit place and a whole grain bagel. A simple enough order, or so I thought. The plate of fruit came out with no rhyme or reason and to seemed like they just chopped up fruit and threw it on a plate. The strawberries still had stems, the melon still had skin and it looked like the orange slices had been "pre-squeezed" (Which is great because they have fresh squeezed OJ... I just don't want the remnants left on my plate.) The bagel was good... The only other thing that my wife likes that they don't offer are hash browns instead of homefries... and sausage patties instead of links... I know I should not complain about things things that they don't offer, but instead of offering Duck Bacon (which they do), offer more staples.

Brunchies is my favorite place to get breakfast around the area I live. I'd much rather eat here than chains like Ihop or Dennys. A family owned joint that is always busy on the weekends, so be prepared. I love the "traditional"...eggs(scrambled), bacon, home fries, and an english muffin which I always trade out for a biscuit. The food is actually flavorful and not bland like some chain breakfast places. The orange juice is fresh squeezed and the quality is obvious, I loveeee it. I've also tried the blueberry crunch pancakes, a must if you crave a sweet breakfast. The staff is great and treats you like family. Ill always love brunchies.

The reason for the poor review of this place was not so much the food, but the service. We went at noon on a Sunday, so we were expecting a bit of a wait but surprisingly, it only took ten minutes to get seated. Unfortunately after that it took nearly an hour to get our food. I realize it was busy, but breakfast places are always busy but still manage to get patrons in and out very quickly since most of the items are quick to prepare. After waiting and waiting while watching the place clear out, we finally were able to get a waitress' attention and ask about our food. She looked panicked and said it was about to come out, but then they brought us out two sandwiches which we didn't order. A few minutes after that our order finally came out. It kind of makes one suspect that they just forgot our order and made it on the fly, but they assured us it was just because the kitchen was backlogged. To make matters worse, my wife is a vegetarian and specifically asked for no meat on her plate. When it arrived all looked well, but after taking a few bites of her grits, she went to stir it and pulled out a very large chunk of sausage that was in the middle of the bowl. When we brought this to the waitress' attention, she simply apologized and offered another bowl. She didn't seem the least bit alarmed or genuinely apologetic. I guess she noticed that we were getting irritated so she brought the check out right after that. I know the wait and the food mistake wasn't her fault, but she didn't offer to take the grits off our bill or offer us any compensation for any of this. The food I did have was great, but I'm having a hard time wanting to go back if we have to deal with all of this just to get to it.

I'm always looking for a casual brunch place near Carrollwood/Citrus Park/Northdale area. I've heard pretty good things about J. Christopher's so I thought i'd give it a go. I went in on Saturday at noon to take a break from xmas shopping. Functioning solely on coffee I was getting cranky. My buddy ordered the Route 66 Skillet. He and I both thought the corned beef hash was good, although we would have liked more chunks of corned beef. We also tried their pumpkin pancakes. Delightful! Always on a search for good grits, I ordered the Shrimp and Grits. The shrimp was done in a creole/cajun style in an andouille sausage gravy. The shrimp was excellent. Great flavor. The grits were horrible. Watery; They looked and tasted like instant grits.

Went here yesterday because I thought I would try something new. The atmosphere was nice even though it was alittle crowded. However, the food was just OK to me. I ordered the Turkey Monte Cristo which was anything but a Monte Cristo. Don't get me wrong I love reinventions of classics but they should consider renaming this a French Toast Turkey Sandwich because that's what it tasted like. The waitress didn't even allow me to choose the side I wanted she chose for me. I haven't had a Monte Cristo in years but the best part of it is the deep fried sandwichness. The sandwich I had at Brunchies was just two pieces of french toast with turkey, cheese and some kind of cranberry cream cheese spread on it with just a sprinkle of powdered sugar. Overall everything made the sandwich waaaaay too sweet for me. On top of that the cream cheese spread or whatever it was wasn't evenly spread on the sandwich before they cut it in half. On one half of my sandwich it was gushing out and on the other half nonexistent. To top everything off it costs me $12 for a meal I didn't enjoy or think was worth $12 in portion had I enjoyed it. Perhaps if I decide to go back I will just get the pumpkin pancakes. They've always been a fave of my mine when my mom makes them.

I ate here, yesterday (2/10/09).Took a little time to get a booth, even though there were like 2 open at the time. I heard about this place from my sister, who used to live in Tampa. I was really hyped for the creme brulee french toast. It was good, but I have to say I had some pretty high expectations, and was just slightly let down. Chelsea got the Reese pancakes, which I tried, they were pretty good as well. When it comes to dessert for breakfast, I compare everything to Bongo Room in Chicago, so it may be an unfair comparison. The dishes were plated with mediocrity. I also got my usual side of sausage, which was actually really good, and the portions were nice. Our waitress was courteous and prompt. Overall a good experience. If your in the neighborhood you should try it.
