This is the best Chinese food in all of Tallahassee. For four years of my life, I would eat Zheng's every Saturday. Back then they had a $2.99 General Tso's lunch special. I still haven't had a better General Tso's. This family owned restaurant is one of the fondest memories from my college years. I don't know if that's a sad thing. Maybe you're just a robot! The chef is just a delight. He is such a kind person that works hard and puts in so much effort to support his family. I watched his little boy grow up over the 4 years. His toys scattered around the restaurant. it was fun watching his action figures battle it out, closest thing to a dinner theater I'm willing to sit through. I know you're probably thinking: "What does this have to do with the food?" Well, there's a very rare ingredient that is hard to find in today's kitchens. Love. This guy is sprinkling love all up in that food. (Don't get all dirty minded on me) The General Tso's is on a different level. It's hot, spicy, crispy, tender, and oh so saucy sweet. Generous portions that you can't even finish, or shouldn't be able to. It's delicious. I remember one time he delivered my dinner clear across town to High Road when I was without a car. He came himself at 9 pm. Recognized me and handed me my dinner with a smile. Genuinely happy to see me. How do you beat that? I last ate there close to 7 years ago and something made me think of Zheng's. Something led me to write this. I hope he's still there. I hope his family is well. Seminoles and people of Tallahassee...Eat at Zheng's

Avoid like the plague, food is bad, place is filthy, ordered the General Tso, how on earth could you screw this up, yet I am amazed. It's almost as if they went out of their way to make it bad

Chinese take out in Tallahassee is notoriously awful. Zhengs is the exception. I have been a customer for well over a decade, through college, dating and a first marriage and this has been my GO TO pick up spot for excellent Chinese take out. Because it is family owned and operated, when you call you will most likely get a chance to speak with Han, the epitome of grace in an otherwise hectic kitchen to counter business. The wontons are authentic, the cashews are toasted daily, the handmade crab rangoons are pinched ever so erratically that you can tell somebody was in a hurry. The lunch specials are legit and I can say that the 'shrimp and vegetable with black bean sauce' might be the best takeout dish in North Florida. I usually go with the 'sesame chicken and broccoli' because I'm a simple man with simple tastes. There are MANY other take out shops in Tallahassee...but this one (and probably Tans) is the best around. I think even Kathy Bates would agree.

YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!!!! I wish I had read the reviews on here and Google+ before I went & ordered take-out from there. OMG this was the WORST crap I have ever had in my life. Seriously inedible, and I'm no food snob. My standards for acceptable Chinese food are really quite low. This place managed to limbo well under that bar. I should have known better from the moment I walked in the door. I placed my order online, but went to pick it up in person. The entire place is SO dirty, and a little girl's dingy and broken toys are piled EVERYWHERE, including Barbie dolls covering one of the 4 tables in the place. The little girl and a man, probably dad/a cook were both completely engrossed in watching shows on tablet computers at another table. "Mom" was finishing cooking my order in the kitchen, wearing flip-flops--kitchen footwear that also struck me as weird. I got a few minutes to look around, which was a mistake, because the longer I stood there, the more disgusted I became at the thought of eating anything from this place. Seriously, this is the grossest looking, dirtiest restaurant I have ever stepped foot in. When I got my food back to my office break room, it was definitely hot and fresh, but before long, I discovered I just couldn't eat any of it. The honey chicken was mostly breading with tough, chemical-tasting "chicken" hidden deep inside, and the sauce also had a truly awful chemical flavor too. I ordered one spring roll and one shrimp roll (both were $1.39 and I was curious what the difference was), but both tasted equally disgusting, again with the chemical flavor, in addition to an awful bitter taste that I just could not make myself choke down, even after adding soy sauce to try to salvage something of my late lunch. I basically threw away $14 worth of "food." I was so hungry I did eat the white rice--it too was soggy and not the best, but at least I'm not quite as hangry as when I first sat down to eat. I did end up adding another packet of soy sauce from the break room to give it at least some flavor. I Will NEVER go there again, and I will warn any students and co-workers to stay away as well. They're probably wiser than I was and already knew. Blech. I'm pissed to be out $14 because I don't get paid for more than 2 weeks yet, and it was a decent amount of "food." Had it been edible I would have had leftovers for another meal too. :-/

This is honestly the worst Chinese food that I have ever had, not just in Tallahassee but in my life! The fried rice is soaking in oil and doesn't even look edible. I tried this place twice as I always like to give a bad experience a second chance and the second time was even worse. I'm really not sure how this place is still in business but I will not be going back. There are other Chinese restaurants here that knock them out of the water just on the fried rice alone.

I'm giving this a single star. i entered Zheng's after a two year "break". it merits a repost of my 2011 Urbanspoon entry. i wanted it to be neutral, at best. here goes: Anyone who can honestly suggest this latrine of a food-outlet is actually above the pale has either been on Zheng's paltry take or is accustomed to dry pet food. Seriously - I went in to this joint twice - both times WANTING to render doubt's benefit but... Damn... I simply couldn't extend anything above an F for Failure. How can Leon County Health Department truly allow these doors to remain open? Oh... Incidentally... Don't paint me as unkind. I assure, dear reader, that it is kindness to you that motivates me to be honest here.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
