I've been back a few times since my first time here, and I'm happy to say the the food is still good. I've also tried the pad thai, fried talapia with basil sauce, and the sweet and spicy curry, all were really good. If you have a sweet tooth, I would strongly recommend the sticky rice with mango. I also saw that they are serving Thai iced teas now, but I was too full so I will have to try that next time. They have two twin brothers serving now (the owners' sons, perhaps?) that are very quick and attentive. Glad to see that business is getting better for the Thai Place as word is getting out. Hope they stay consistent and I wish them luck!

Been here twice and will be back. Very solid flavors and I am happy that they are here in the NE. My last visit was not as enjoyable as my first (my first being at lunch). We ordered steamed dumplings and another appetizer and the dumplings had been steamed so long that they were falling apart. The Pad Se Ew I ordered for dinner tasted fine, but the noodles were mushy, as if they has been pre-cooked and then reheated in water too long. My wife ordered the same dish and had the same experience. Our kids enjoyed their meals and there was enough there for them to take home, which is always a treat. The staff is always so friendly - and I get that it is a family business, but the kids working there needed a little more direction or the service needs a little more organization. Seemed very chaotic at best though everything reached our table in a reasonable time. Will be back, of course!

Favorite Thai in town! It blows other Thai restaurants out of the water. This place is such a gem. It's a small neighborhood Thai joint. The restaurant has nice ambiance with lovely Thai decors. Servers are two school aged boys (twin brothers) who are just helping out the family business during the summer break. How cute! I've seen other family members too. So clearly it's family run. I've been here twice so far. I've tried the drunken noodle with shrimp that came with a coconut soup. I think you can opt to have an egg roll as well. My meal was absolutely delicious! I'd suggest asking for the Thai hot sauces. They will give you four different kinds. Awesomeness! Deff plan on coming back. The sticky nice with mango is calling me name!

Wow is all I can really say. I stopped into Thai Place one evening just looking for some good curry nearby and I was not disappointed! The place was not really that busy and I was able to sit down immediately. Service was quick and friendly. At the recommendation of my waitress, I ordered the green curry with chicken and no rice. I was asked whether I wanted coconut soup or a spring roll before my meal, something that I honestly have never had the option of at any other Thai place I've been to! So, that was a great surprise. I opted for the coconut chicken soup, and it was a great choice -- really bursting with flavor and was a good size as well. When the green curry came out, I was really excited because the coconut soup had been so awesome so I was highly anticipating how good the curry would be. Well, it definitely didn't disappoint! Honestly I can say this was the best curry I've ever had (and in Tallahassee of all places!) and I would for sure return just to get the curry. It had plenty of vegetables and chicken and the flavor was outstanding. I cannot wait to patronize this place regularly!

Solid thai food. Asked for something off the menu (pork namsod) and the cooks had no problem whipping it up. It was great.

I love this place. The Peanut Curry and Pad Thai. Are awesome. I also love their calamari. As a matter of fact I've loved everything I've ever had there. It is now our birthday dinner restaurant of choice. The owner is very nice and will come out and talk to you and make special requests if wanted. I told him about a squid salad I had in Chicago once and how the fish sauce was overwhelming. He said let me make one and see what you think. He still used fish sauce but it was wonderful. I thanked him for making it and asked how much he charges for it. He told me it was his pleasure and that it was on the house, and thanked me for coming in.

Best Thai in town! Delicious spring rolls and Pad Thai. Absolutely returning for more!

One of my favorite Thai spots in Tallahassee. Panang curry and Thai teas are incredible, and I recommend the Pad Thai for dine in only as it can be a little dry as take out. Always great service and super friendly staff. Take out time is pretty fast too! Definitely a spot we will continue to frequent in Tally.

Happened to be shopping at the nearby Goodwill when hunger kicked in, saw this place on yelp and thought my prayers had been answered when I saw a Thai place with almost 5 stars. Boy was I mistaken! Ordered the Red chicken curry with soup and rice included plus an order of spring rolls. Spring rolls were greasy and stuffed with noodles (no meats or cabbage or any other veggies) they werent good but not terrible. The Thom Kai soup on the other hand was bad, very salty and had a faint taste of bathroom cleaner like pine sol or something. I managed to down that before moving on to the curry which was the worst dish of all! It had a very strong cleaner taste, I compare it to pine sol but its a little different, more floral. Anyway, very unpleasant experience. I forced myself to eat it because I was starving but this place definitely is not worthy. Hoping I dont die from this awful food now, BEWARE!

Finally! Consistently good Thai food in Tallahassee! I've been to the Thai Place twice and have been delighted with the food and the attentive service. Yesterday I had Pad Thai with shrimp, followed by Sticky Rice with Mango. Mango is in season NOW, and I highly recommend folks try it! I ordered another Sticky Rice w Mango to go to share with a dear friend -- and she loved it too. I can't wait to go back and take my friends who want to explore Thai food!! Prices are reasonable and they have a wonderful spice tray for those of us who like to kick it up a notch at times.

I really enjoyed the green chicken curry. It was spicy, but very good. I ordered take-out and it was ready on time and delicious.

I have to brag about Thai Place. It is easily the best Thai food I have eaten in this country. The food is amazingly flavorful and they obviously use fresh ingredients. The prices are more than fair and the service prompt and cheerful. No need to go anywhere else! #1 in my book! Try them....you'll most certainly agree!

Consistently excellent food and service from this wonderful family owned restaurant. I'm working my way through the menu; today I had Tom Yum Talay, a seafood soup with lemongrass, crab, calamari, and mussels, and Lad Na, wide rice noodles with lots of delicious fresh vegetables. I had the Lad Na with tofu, but you can also get it with chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp. One website says Tom Yum Talay is "known for its health benefits and is the Thai equivalent of chicken noodle soup when you're feeling ill", and as a matter of fact it did fill me with a sense of well-being! Their menu has more items than are listed on their website, so grab a menu when you visit so you don't miss out on anything when you need takeout.

Everything is excellent here! Everyone is very friendly and the service is great! We really love the Yellow Curry and the coconut soup! The atmosphere is cozy and we haven't had to wait for a table at all. We do take out from here often and they always have it ready really quick. Really, this is some of the best Thai food we have had!

Just discovered this place driving around today. Excellent food and great service. Relaxing environment to enjoy some good Thai food with a drink.

We are big fans of Thai food, and felt for a while that Tallahassee needs more Thai restaurants. We are thrilled to report that we love the food here! Our favorite so far is the cashew nut curry.

Thai Place opened around the beginning of October, 2013 and I moved to Tallahassee around the middle of that month. I was fortunate to find my go-to Thai food restaurant so quickly! The atmosphere inside is very pleasant, with oriental pictures, paintings, and murals adorning the walls. The chairs and tables are comfortable and accessible. Everything was clean and there was no sign of dust or dirt on the tables. There is a bar in the back facing the kitchen entrance mounted by a lovely Buddha statue. Flowers are on every table and the place mats have home-made feel to them. The restaurant is well lit, but not bright, and a TV is mounted on the back wall. Of the Thai restaurants that I have been to in north and south Florida, the atmosphere is in the top five. 4/5 The service has been fantastic. My drinks were kept full without me feeling like I was being hovered over. My food came out before I even finished my soup, and the bill was promptly delivered after clearing the table. The staff even gave me recommendations of other menu items to try based on what I ordered. Kind and friendly people work here. 5/5 The prices are fantastic for a Thai restaurant. I'm a decently big guy, and the $8 lunch filled me to the brim. Dinner entrees are about $10 and no menu item (aside from the carafe and fish) goes above $11. For Thai food without the Thai price, this is a great pick. 5/5 The food is delicious! Lunches come with a unique spicy coconut and chicken soup called Tom Kha Gai. In an interesting flavor combination, this bowl of tasty soothes the stomach while making sure your drink doesn't get neglected. The soup has a rich flavor and will leave you wanting more. 5/5 The Pad Thai, which I judge all Thai restaurants by, passes the test with flying colors. Not too wet and not too dry, this noodle dish is a perfect serving size and features all the wonderful peanut flavors you love. While the flavor is not as strong as other Pad Thai dishes I've had, this is definitely not one to pass up. 4/5 The Red Curry was tasty and well presented. The plate came with a mound of rice and a bowl filled with the curry and vegetables, which you can then pour onto the rice as you like. The vegetables and chicken were fully cooked and perfectly tenderized. The curry, which I ordered as 3* spicy, was the perfect amount for me (I like spicy foods), while still being subtly sweet. It was a perfect amount of curry, vegetables, and rice so no sauce was left behind. 5/5 I have definitely found my local Thai restaurant and I highly recommend it. If you work in NE Tallahassee and are craving Thai food for lunch, this is the place your stomach and wallet will love.

Love this new restaurant! The food is delicious and the family that runs it is very endearing. Great service and good prices. I especially recommend the Pad See-Eew, a true comfort food!

It's not Republic in Union Square but the Pho was good enough for it to become my ToGo Thai eatery in TLH.

The other great reviews on Yelp and Urban Spoon are spot on. This is a great little Thai Restaurant, especially for Tallahassee. Food is great, and, so is the service. I took my wife here for Valentines day. The coconut soup is delicious. The crispy duck is terrific. And, all the staff go out of their way to offer friendly service. We'll be back for sure.

The people could not be nicer, and the food is good, but in my opinion, not great. I have eaten there three times now over the last year, and have yet to get excited by anything I've ordered. Last night everything we ordered was crazy sweet -- so much so that our teenager said there was no need to order desert. We will likely be back because of the location and because of how nice the staff is, but when we really want great Thai food, this won't be the place.
