We were driving through on a road trip and were craving good Mexican food. From previous reviews we decided to try this place. We were in a hurry so we called ahead and placed our order to dine in. They were very accommodating, service was excellent, and the food was amazing! The chips were warm and fresh and the salsa was delicious. My wife and I both opted for the chicken fajitas which were full of flavor. Compared to what we pay for good fajitas in Houston, we felt they were underpriced for the quality and quantity (which seems odd to say). Drink specials were also a great value! This will forever be our go to Mexican food spot when traveling back to Florida!

Looked like only one waiter was working that night, therefore service wasn't great! Margarita pitcher great to share and not that expensive. Wasn't the best quesadilla I've had but definitely not the worst. Would give them a second chance hoping service is better! Good for larger groups to sit outside on the patio!

I stopped in with a coworker while in town on business. The decor was average but the service was friendly and attentive. I had the enchiladas verde with chicken and my friend had the steak tacos. The serving sizes were huge! They can't be making any money on the lunch plates. The food was good but not particularly authentic or memorable. I'd give them a 3.5 if I could but it's not a 4 for me.

Love this restaurant! Best Mexican food in town. The waiters & owner are always nice & helpful. I always chose this restaurant over other Mexican restaurants. Their food is the best. They do close for lunch, so make sure you are familiar with their hours. Overall, 5 stars for me!

Great family restaurant. The settings and the food are truly Mexican. The food is above average and the staff is really friendly. San Miguel is a favorite for all my co workers.

I was disappointed. The food tasted very ordinary for me, nothing horrible but nothing to rave about either. The good points are that it is very inexpensive and huge portions so you definitely get your money's worth. Service is friendly, the place itself is clean but nothing special. I recommend this place for a big, good for your money meal but nothing much more.

Better than El Jalisco. I don't know why I've passed by this restaurant so many times. Perhaps it was that it never seemed like many cars were there, but it turns out that San Miguel is spacious and delicious. We went on Cinco de Mayo, which is absolutely crazy, but everything turned out all right, even with the place being packed. Service was a bit slower than I expect it generally is, but it was a full house. First, the chips and salsa were both above average. The salsa was too hot for the Mrs., but I loved it, and the chips were that sort of light and flaky you don't get from a bag. We had two baskets full. Since it was Cinco de Mayo - an excuse for drinking - we broke character and had frozen margaritas - $3 each. It was a decently sized "small" in a tall cup and, while nothing special, was perfectly serviceable. For my meal I chose the #30 meal, which for the price ($8.50) was a lot of food - a tamale, an enchilada, rice, beans, and a tostada. All were delicious, with the tostada being a bit of a revelation and the tamale tasting different than your usual Tex-Mex tamale. Service, while slow due to the holiday, was friendly and the servers quite personable. All-in-all, I was pleasantly surprised with San Miguel and next time I want Tex-Mex on North Monroe I will choose this over El Jalisco.

Blah, I always have some kind of weird issue with this place. One time, I found dried up nacho cheese inside my water cup. One time, the waiter only talked to the male friend I had with me, brought me a water without asking what I'd like to drink, and just stared blankly at me when it was my turn to order food. With all the other options for Mexican food just up and down Monroe street, I don't see the point of coming here, ever. Oh and I had to edit my review to add that one time, I was eating a ground beef taco and I found a small bone in it. I know this is normal, because it's ground beef, but it's still burned into my memory... it hurt my tooth :(

This is what I can best describe as Mexican comfort food- especially true if you grew up eating Tex-Mex, and are now located where said food is basically unavailable. They are very generous with the chips and salsa: our table of 4 got 2 huge bowls of salsa and frequent refills on the chips. The food portions are also generous. All of our dishes (tacos; 3 enchiladas, quesadilla, chilies rellenos) came with generous sides of rice and beans; all dishes were under $10. The food is not spectacular, but it's darn tasty and a good value to boot.

This place has pretty decent food. It's cheap (most plates are under $10) and the portions are fairly big. I like the way the place is decorated... ok, it's not anything fantastic. Just the low key colors and art on the walls. The seating isn't super comfortable though - at least not the booths. They're completely wooden with no cushion anywhere. I'm pretty sure there are regular tables with chairs too though, and there's also outdoor seating which I liked. I'm not a connoisseur of Mexican food by any stretch, but I've eaten here many times and have never had a meal I didn't like. I love their mushroom and spinach quesadillas! Two come to an order, and they're both big. I always bring one home for later. Worth trying out. Hardly be losing any money if it's not really your thing.

So many Mexican restaurants in the area but with it being Cinco de Mayo, good luck getting into one. Our favorite restaurant was over a two hour wait so we decided on coming here. We did wait about one hour. The hostess finally sat us in the patio area where they had live music. Music was cool with a dance floor and everyone having a swell time. Our server was very busy, he had so many tables to take care of. They needed more servers especially for this night of celebration. We ordered a bucket of Corona's and queso dip with chips to start. Queso dip was creamy delish with great flavor. Entree's daughter ordered tamales with rice and beans and I chose the quesadilla with spinach. The food was good. Spinach was fresh and the melted cheese was awesome! Nice portions, with great prices, very reasonable. We drank, ate, enjoyed the music, laughed and had a great time. All except the dude next to us who was showing crack! Not a pretty sight when you are trying to eat....eeeekk Hours later we were ready to leave and literally the line to pay your bill was about twenty people deep. They had one register, line out the door to pay your tab, even if you were paying cash. The server told me they are not allowed to handle cash. Are you kidding me, excuse me but I am NOT waiting in line with cash for over thirty minutes, nope not gonna happen. Our server was very friendly and he could tell I was not a happy camper so he ran got us more bottles of Corona on the house to calm me down and wait for the line to get smaller. Then he gave my daughter a t-shirt for Cinco De Mayo. We each drank two more beers as the line somewhat went down. We still waited about twenty minutes in line to pay the bill. They were very disorganized with the way they operated. We chalked it up because of the holiday. Otherwise we enjoyed our evening very much. Food is good and reasonable. I would check them out again.

I've been dining at this restaurant for over 10 years. Trendy Mexican places come and go but these guys are here to stay. I always get wonderful service and the food is always great. I love the fresh chips and salsa - they're the best in town! The value can't be beat and you get great service as well. I highly recommend! Great Margaritas too....

Delicious! I went here for dinner on a Tuesday and spent less than $10, which is fantastic. I had the chicken burrito and enchilada combo plate, which came with rice and beans. I ate everything but the rice and beans, which I saved as leftovers for a quick meal the next day. The chicken was nicely seasoned and spicy, and everything was cooked well. The staff was very friendly and overall the environment of the place was very relaxed and welcoming. They did the cutest thing; on our take-out boxes they drew a flower and a heart and a message inviting us to come back. It was appreciated. :)

Of all the lookalike taste alike Mexican restaurants in Tallahassee, San Miguel manages to be slightly better than the rest. Hearty serving sizes and cheap prices make it a can't miss if you're in the mood for Mexican. Also features a back patio area for the smokers of the world. Good drink specials.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
