The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

It's not high quality. On Maslow's hierarchy of food needs there is three levels. 1. Did you get enough. 2.How did it taste. 3. How did it look. This restaurant is stuck on "1. Did you get enough". Reasonable portions, moderate quality. Would go back but am also looking for another option for casual Itlaian restaurant. Only try it if it is convenient for you, don't go out of your way.

We happened upon this little restaurant while looking for someplace to celebrate post graduation. This small family oriented establishment was perfect for our group. While not ideal for large groups, they accommodated our group of 15 very well. This is one of those neighborhood restaurants where the staff knows almost everyone that comes in. So we figured the food must be decent and it was. Staff was also very nice. The large garlic roll that they serve with the pasta dishes was very good.

I was really excited to find this place just down the street from where I live. I never knew it existed! Riccardo's is hidden away in a little plaza. It's just an unimposing storefront. The Italian food at Bella Bella is better quality (and more expensive), and there is virtually no beer/wine selection at Riccardo's, but for a cheap neighborhood Italian joint you won't do better than this place! I nearly forgot to mention the garlic rolls are fantastic.

Matt's parents LOVE to get take out from this place. So we ordered one night, and due to them not wanting to miss the FSU basketball game, I volunteered to go pick up. I thought that his mom called the place "I Love Lucy's" because its called Riccardo's. Then I walked in. And had to wait a minute for the food, which meant I got to look around the restaurant a bit. OK, who am I kidding. I got to look around the shelves of I Love Lucy memorabilia. Then I understood the nickname. But really, the important part. Matt's mom always orders the baked spaghetti, and loves it. His dad had the lasagna, and said it was really good. Matt had the baked penne with meatballs. The meatballs were good, and the pasta was what I would expect. Nothing special. I had the beef ravioli with baked mozzarella, and I think that was the best thing ordered. It was REALLY good. One thing I will say all around, though, is that the dishes were all lacking in the sauce department. Matt's parents were prepared though, and ordered an extra serving of marinara sauce, and that pretty well covered all four dishes. I'll agree with Larry L on the salad situation - not particularly worth it unless you really feel the need for some greens. The only thing that could have made this dinner any better would have been if they delivered!!

If you are the type of person who enjoys Ragu sauce, this is your place. This is frozen Italian food offerings at its finest. Any one serious about Italian food should keep moving. I don't know how this place has earned the number of stars it has, but it frightens me to think that people find this to be "authentic"

Best baked beef ravioli I have ever had! Husband ordered Veal Parmigiana and we heard the chef pounding the veal in back, so it was made to order. Will definitely go back when in the area again. Owner came out and made a point to speak to us and welcome everyone to the restaurant, very welcoming atmosphere and yes the secret bread recipe and garlic butter was amazing!

Popular, low-cost, red-sauce cooking. Exactly what it promises. Family-owned and long-established, this place is famous for its baked goods. I've been a few times and while the bread recipe is excellent, they should cool their oven down a little so the bread cooks more on the inside and less on the outside. Side salad ($2.49) was fine. Anything baked is very good - I had some of my friend's meat calzone ($8.59 and the size of a football) and it was nicely done, although the housemade red sauce was nothing to write home about. Chicken parm ($10, bread included) is average with store-bought pasta, but nobody goes here to be adventurous. They go here because they'll get tasty Italian-American food at a low price. Good selection of beers, including an excellent mango witbier. You may struggle for parking and there's nowhere inside to wait for a table to open up. There is an inexplicable 'German Night' each Thursday with Wiener schnitzel or roasted pork.

Always good food when I eat here, with fantastic prices. I am a huge fan of their bread (who isn't) and their subs. Service could be a little friendlier. Same staff has been there for years, but I tend to feel more like a bother than a welcomed patron. This won't keep me from returning - or bringing guests, but it would be great to bring a little warmth to the service.

Ordered to go. Chicken parm & lasagna. Heard a few good reviews, had to give it a try. It was not good. But than again, have not had any luck finding a good Italian meal in Tallahassee.

I'm keeping my original review (below) but increasing a star. Here's why: Ricardo's is consistently good. The dishes are served HOT and the bread is unusually good (my wife seeks out the bread alone). Last year's review is below. ------ In a nut-shell, I see Riccardo's as a charming Tallahassee tradition for Italian dining. All the usual suspects are on the menu and the ambiance is cozy. There is no outside dining, which (to us) is a detractor. The interior is small but gives off a "charming/cozy" feel. More frequently than not, there is a wait. Open for lunch. On Thursdays, "German Night" consists of the added option of Weiner Schnitzel. If there have been additional options for German food, they've been offered on the Thursdays that I've not been.

This small family owned business is one of Tallahassee's hidden gems. The owners are very particular about the quality of food they serve and that it is done with a great attitude. The make perhaps the best sub I have ever had, their number "10" is an awesome collection of piled high Italian meats served on bread baked fresh everyday. This is easily the best sub in the area and I am always amazed at folks who are clients but have never tried the subs.

This place has delicious food! The pizza, calzones and garlic bread are to die for. You can smell fresh, herby bread baking at all times in this place and it makes your mouth water. I always say it's hard to mess up pizza, but then I also think it's hard to make good pizza stand out. Riccardo's does it though; the pizza is amazing. The ambiance leaves much to be desired, but the place is always packed on weekend nights as a testament to how delicious the food is. Get there early to put your name on the list because there is always a wait for dinner on weekends.

This restaurant has your run of the mill Italian menu choices. Get a sandwich! The secret to enjoying a meal at this place is to ensure the consumption of their homemade bread. The sandwiches are very cheap for the amount of food you get. Not only that, the bread is fantastic. A hot sub from Riccardo's will not disappoint!

Nice staff but the quality is terrible. Got the Chicken Alfredo and the manicotti. Both had canned sauce and the chicken in the Alfredo was mechanically pressed chicken paddy. Over all was pretty disappointed. It seems this place is aimed toward senior citizens. If quality and taste are important to you I would suggest stealing clean of Riccardo's.

While in Tally on business last fall, discovered Ricardo's from a local associate's recommendation. Although it's a bit of a drive from downtown, it's worth the trip. It's small, and really a neighborhood kind of place. The first time we went (several associates and I) it was a Friday night, and quite busy. The waiting area is a bit cramped when full, but the staff made sure everyone got drinks, and checked in on everyone there regularly. The wait was about 20 minutes, which wasn't bad considering how busy it was. This is "home style" Italian, and being of that heritage, I found the food just GREAT. I'd put my own meatballs up against any on the planet, but Ricardo's were excellent. One of the patrons in the waiting area couldn't stop recommending them, and he was dead on. Very much worth the trip, and the prices are really good. Oh, and the "Lucy and Ricky" decorations are charming, they have quite a collection from the "I Love Lucy" days.

I just moved here to Tallahassee, FL from California. In CA we have a HUGE amount of amazing Italian restaurant's. Riccardo's was right up there with some of my favorites! Spaghetti with Italian sausage, simple and amazing! next time I will try the garlic bread...yum!

OK full disclosure, I worked here on and off for several years. Most people will not eat the food of the place that they work, but I LOVE it! Chef salad is great, the bread is so good that I sometimes buy it, freeze the dough, and cook it in Orlando where I now live! The sauce has extra seasonings and has just the right amount of sweet and tangy. The garlic butter is so so great. Also, if you have never had a Riccardo's calzone, you have not lived. I can not live without their tiramisu and the wine and beer is not priced too expensively as it is any many other local establishments. Seriously become a regular here and be sure to arrive early on Thursday for German night sometime, it is fantastic!

I'm a little confused about why this place is listed as "moderately priced". It's pretty dirt cheap unless you order a glass of wine. Anyway... The food was okay. I went for spaghetti and meatballs, but I only received two meatballs. I guess that's okay, considering that my meal cost me seven dollars and change, but still...for a plate of store-bought pasta I only get 2 meatballs? I thought that was pretty stingy. My boyfriend had the veal and enjoyed that for the most part. The bread was good, although I'm a little curious as to why it's "secret bread". Really? It's not amazing enough to be a secret. I probably wouldn't come back here again, because it just wasn't special enough for me to do so. It is cheap Italian food, though.

Ricardo's is a hole in the wall place up on capitol circle NE and is easily the best authentic Italian place that I have ever ate at. I had the baked penne pasta and meatballs. They put spinach on it. I hate spinach but on this dish it was amazing. They hand make the bread and meatballs (you can tell). I love finding and supporting tallahassee's local restaurants. It is definitely worth the 20-30min drive from campus if your looking for great Italian within the student budget. My fairly large meal and drink was $12.57 plus tip. they have cheaper food their as well I just got a dinner portioned meal.

Riccardo's is a fun, very friendly Italian restaurant that features simple, straight-forward food. FOOD: Simple, standard Italian dishes (e.g., lasagna, chicken parmesan, pastas, etc.). Their homemade bread is very, very good. Their main dishes are all simple, but good. You're not going to be blown away by the food, but you're not going to be disappointed in anything, either. SERVICE: Very, very friendly. Quick, helpful, and not overbearing. ATMOSPHERE: Riccardo's is as casual and friendly as it can be. This place really delivers a family-friendly type feel, and that really is the essence of this restaurant. The restaurant has an I Love Lucy theme to it, which adds to the charm of the place (I never watched the show, but it helps give Riccardo's that family-style feel). SUMMARY: You're not going to get five-star food at Riccardo's-- you're going to get good food at reasonable prices with very friendly service. It's an enjoyable place to spend a casual evening.

In highschool, I dated a girl who loved "I Love Lucy" so I've come here off and on for over a decade. The food is decent, but I would suggest you skip the german night. The salads are around $3 and are like four leaves of roman lettuce. The key here is any pasta dish or the calzone.

Definately a hidden treasure in Tallahassee! My husband loves their German food on Thursday nights! I always enjoy the baked spaghetti. It is a small restaurant and not somewhere to go for ambiance, but you won't find a better Italian restaurant in town!

Riccardo's is one of my favorite places to eat in town. The atmosphere is very intimate, and I always feel like I'm with family when I'm there. The servers are always familiar faces. One thing to note for large groups: it's a tiny place. They'll work to accomodate you, but just know there may be a wait. Is it worth it... definitely! I'm not typically a fan of meat sauce, but I recently ordered the baked ravioli that was to die for! We've also had their calzones, which are split-worthy. The Friday Night Dinner Club decided to visit Riccardos last week. It's been quite some time since we first tried Riccardo's, and it now occupies two bays in the little strip mall. Front parking is a bit small, but ample space is available in the rear. R's doesn't open the doors until 5, so don't plan on arriving too early. The dining areas are small, so big groups be forewarned. The restaurant is decorated with a Lucy Ricardo theme, but the fare is Italian, albeit with an American heritage (in other words not truly Italian). The menu is limited -- don't expect the full array of Italian dishes. One of our foursome was delayed from our 5:15 date, so we ordered a plate of garlic bread. That was a mistake -- not that the bread was bad, but you get a large chunk of fresh bread with your meal. Dinner salad is extra. For $2 and change, your presented with a small (or maybe I should say SMALL) portion of iceberg lettuce and two grape tomatoes. Our suggestion -- skip the salad. The homemade bread was good. For our entrees we had three spaghetti with meatballs & one meat lasagna. The spaghetti is not house made, but was prepared al dente. Marinara sauce (meat sauce is not offered) is a bit thin on flavor, and the 2 meatballs were a bit overworked, and that makes for a dense texture. Overall we rated this okay, but not something we'd make the trip to R's for. The meat lasagna was an okay minus. Worth the $8 each. Overall Riccardo's is a fair place to eat. Small and intimate, very good table service, and a decent selection from what is likely a small kitchen. It needs something other than Lucy to make it memorable.

Was recommended by a friend, and the food was pretty good, but let's just say that it's popular because it's cheap. Decor is dated, and they are only opened very limited hours. Too much trouble to try and get a table honestly. It's almost like going out to dinner and having your mother serve you dinner. You won't feel special, and you'll actually feel rushed because there will be 10-20 people standing around waiting to take your table, as they watch you eat. Awkward to say the least.

This must be Ricky and Lucy's place--there is I LOVE LUCY paraphernalia all over the place. The menu cover features the owner dressed up like Looocee---a pretty good likeness, too. The restaurant is mainly Italian, but on Thursdays, they include some German dishes. I ordered the weinersnitzel to compare it with Nino' s (see my review) and it was no comparison. Nino's had it prepared like I have enjoyed when I have visited my daughter in Austria. Riccardo's seemed too American, especially with the veal swimming in mash potatoes and gravy. Good grief, where was the spaetzel? I was disappointed. I won't refuse to go back if anyone wants to treat me there, but I don't intend to spend any more of my hard earned bucks there myself. With all of this yelping, I am gaining weight. Guess I will have to start yelping fitness centers. Next time...

This place really delivers a family-friendly type feel, and that really is the essence of this restaurant. The restaurant has an I Love Lucy theme to it, which adds to the charm of the place (I never watched the show, but it helps give Riccardo's that family-style feel). SUMMARY: You're not going to get five-star food at Riccardo's-- you're going to get good food at reasonable prices with very friendly service. It's an enjoyable place to spend a casual evening.

In highschool, I dated a girl who loved "I Love Lucy" so I've come here off and on for over a decade. The food is decent, but I would suggest you skip the german night. The salads are around $3 and are like four leaves of roman lettuce. The key here is any pasta dish or the calzone.

Riccardo's is one of my favorite places to eat in town. The atmosphere is very intimate, and I always feel like I'm with family when I'm there. The servers are always familiar faces. One thing to note for large groups: it's a tiny place. They'll work to accomodate you, but just know there may be a wait. Is it worth it... definitely! I'm not typically a fan of meat sauce, but I recently ordered the baked ravioli that was to die for! We've also had their calzones, which are split-worthy. Hearty portions of homestyle Italian food, at reasonable prices. Yes, please!

The Friday Night Dinner Club decided to visit Riccardos last week. It's been quite some time since we first tried Riccardo's, and it now occupies two bays in the little strip mall. Front parking is a bit small, but ample space is available in the rear. R's doesn't open the doors until 5, so don't plan on arriving too early. The dining areas are small, so big groups be forewarned. The restaurant is decorated with a Lucy Ricardo theme, but the fare is Italian, albeit with an American heritage (in other words not truly Italian). The menu is limited -- don't expect the full array of Italian dishes. One of our foursome was delayed from our 5:15 date, so we ordered a plate of garlic bread. That was a mistake -- not that the bread was bad, but you get a large chunk of fresh bread with your meal. Dinner salad is extra. For $2 and change, your presented with a small (or maybe I should say SMALL) portion of iceberg lettuce and two grape tomatoes. Our suggestion -- skip the salad. The homemade bread was good. For our entrees we had three spaghetti with meatballs & one meat lasagna. The spaghetti is not house made, but was prepared al dente. Marinara sauce (meat sauce is not offered) is a bit thin on flavor, and the 2 meatballs were a bit overworked, and that makes for a dense texture. Overall we rated this okay, but not something we'd make the trip to R's for. The meat lasagna was an okay minus. Worth the $8 each. Overall Riccardo's is a fair place to eat. Small and intimate, very good table service, and a decent selection from what is likely a small kitchen. It needs something other than Lucy to make it memorable.

Was recommended by a friend, and the food was pretty good, but let's just say that it's popular because it's cheap. Decor is dated, and they are only opened very limited hours. Too much trouble to try and get a table honestly. It's almost like going out to dinner and having your mother serve you dinner. You won't feel special, and you'll actually feel rushed because there will be 10-20 people standing around waiting to take your table, as they watch you eat. Awkward to say the least.

Matt's parents LOVE to get take out from this place. So we ordered one night, and due to them not wanting to miss the FSU basketball game, I volunteered to go pick up. I thought that his mom called the place "I Love Lucy's" because its called Riccardo's. Then I walked in. And had to wait a minute for the food, which meant I got to look around the restaurant a bit. OK, who am I kidding. I got to look around the shelves of I Love Lucy memorabilia. Then I understood the nickname. But really, the important part. Matt's mom always orders the baked spaghetti, and loves it. His dad had the lasagna, and said it was really good. Matt had the baked penne with meatballs. The meatballs were good, and the pasta was what I would expect. Nothing special. I had the beef ravioli with baked mozzarella, and I think that was the best thing ordered. It was REALLY good. One thing I will say all around, though, is that the dishes were all lacking in the sauce department. Matt's parents were prepared though, and ordered an extra serving of marinara sauce, and that pretty well covered all four dishes. I'll agree with Larry L on the salad situation - not particularly worth it unless you really feel the need for some greens. The only thing that could have made this dinner any better would have been if they delivered!!

This must be Ricky and Lucy's place--there is I LOVE LUCY paraphernalia all over the place. The menu cover features the owner dressed up like Looocee---a pretty good likeness, too. The restaurant is mainly Italian, but on Thursdays, they include some German dishes. I ordered the weinersnitzel to compare it with Nino' s (see my review) and it was no comparison. Nino's had it prepared like I have enjoyed when I have visited my daughter in Austria. Riccardo's seemed too American, especially with the veal swimming in mash potatoes and gravy. Good grief, where was the spaetzel? I was disappointed. I won't refuse to go back if anyone wants to treat me there, but I don't intend to spend any more of my hard earned bucks there myself. With all of this yelping, I am gaining weight. Guess I will have to start yelping fitness centers. Next time...
