Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Servers are excellent and personable. Food was fantastic. Bruschetta for appetizer. Penne with broccoli and penne alla Siciliana. Perfection. Busy busy busy. Truly great and authentic Italian food. Here with a Tuscan native and we are both full and happy! Will come back.

All in all, a very "eh" experience. They harp on being an Italian fine dining experience on a college budget, but that's a lie. Most dishes are upwards of $20 and the portions aren't all too large either. The free garlic bread we got wasn't good at all. The plate we had was inconsistent in the garlic. I ordered the fish of the day, which was a sesame-seed crusted tuna steak. It wasn't bad, but it didn't blow me away either. Although I will say the accompanying sauce was good. Not the best waiting staff either. Once again, just eh. My waiter was particularly slow at times, but in his defense our party was about 15+ and he was the only one helping. If it weren't for the high prices I would give a higher rating but they are so, a generous 3.

All that shines and glitters is not always gold. While Moda is the hip Italian fancy college restaurant with a nice setting, it does not always live up to the hype. I have been here about three times and every single visit was a different setting. Let me break it down for you.. Visit one was during dinner time on a Wednesday that supposedly had Half-Off Pasta all day. Apparently the advertisement failed to tell me that it does not work before 7pm. So then I was thinking that maybe it was happy hour.....eh the waiter told me again that it is before 7pm. I sucked it up and ordered a lasagna and my friend had lobster ravioli. We both liked our dishes, but my goodness the prices are not worth it. I also wanted some dessert and if you check-in on yelp you get a free one with an entree. But can you guess what strike 3 was???? The yelp check-in only works before 7pm. OMGGGG shoot me. But I was going to keep it a solid 3 stars. Here we are now to the 2nd visit, which does not count so much since it was a St Patrick's day block party and the lounge clubbing scene was on at night. Loud Music, Strobe lights, and drunk college kids everywhere. Yea it was expected and hey I had fun! I was keeping the solid 3 stars. Now I am at the dreaded 3rd visit. It was Easter Brunch and my friends and I wanted the bottomless mimosas. I expected the crowds and I expected the loudness, but I was not expecting the disappointing crap service. First off we were shoved off to the corner and squeezed 4 on a table meant for 2. This table was also right next to the DJ booth which unfortunately forced us to yell like crazy. Third of all was the mimosa fiasco. We have drinks and the waiters and waitresses are walking around refilling everyone's drinks...except for ours. It was as if we had to beg to get more. Food was constantly being drained and every time I walked up, half of the buffet was always missing. Tasted bland and I think the manager or somebody noticed our sad faces and attempted to make us feel better, but then again maybe he had a few too many mimosas too. Once we got our bill there was a 18% tip added to it. excuse me....I do not think you deserved that tip. And who adds tip for a party of 4? I thought 6 was typical for that. blah is all I will say. fin.

I had the chicken piccata, and it was terrible. Very bland and my side of pasta came out after I was done. The Caesar salad was dry, the minuscule amount of dressing was very watery. The garlic bread LITERALLY burned my taste buds. The garlic was so strong and so overpowering it cinched my lips. 240 dollars later I am still hungry and my breath smells like a garlic garden.
(2)Shenika L.
Pretty good first time there we had brunch buffet for $20 and it included unlimited mimosas. The food took a little bit to come out and it wasn't a big selection. But what they did have was good and I'll pay $20 again.

PREFACE: this is one of my longer ones. Bottom line is that even though this may be intended to be a student venue, students too should experience value for their dollar. The service here - on this visit - does not come close to lining up with the price tag. That said, good service costs nothing. I've never so eagerly given a less-than-stellar review for an establishment than I am right now - as I sit down with a party of seven. The establishment, if they chance upon this review, should clearly remember who we were, since we experienced a number of unfortunate hiccups which could have been avoided, provided a modicum of customer service, hospitality-management experience, and general common sense presented itself. From the onset, I knew we were in for a rocky ride. We arrived at around 12:30 on Sunday, and a hostess in evening wear asked if we had reservations. Naturally, we hadn't. (Tallahassee? Reservations for lunch? We just didn't know...) We get a table. It's a six-top (3/3) with a chair hitting into the end diners. That's fine - we've dealt with that at crowded places before. However... The table has a (no-exaggeration) 4" play that causes an interesting table dynamic. If a video could capture the phenomenon, I would include it... I must say that our server was VERY good - too good, in my opinion, for this joint. She was attentive and swiftly handled table requests. Back to the detailing. The manager, a nice guy in a purple shirt, came by a couple of times - once 15 minutes into it, and once after the check was dropped. The first time, we let him know about the uneven table and he looked at it, determining nothing could be done. In his defense, he did offer to move us - however there was no other option for seven of us, so we stayed put. One in our party asked if bread was offered and the nice manager said "of course, we'll have some right over". A few minutes after the plates had been dropped, one of us inquired as to the missing bread. Our server (keep in mind, we like her and she's focused on doing a good job) told us that bread wasn't offered during buffet hours - that was a dinner thing only. (A point the manager should have known, rather than telling us as the end that he'd asked a server to send a basket our way). The music... About ten minutes after we were seated, South Beach-ish / early 20's mall clothing store music ratcheted up. Here's where I tell you that I'm about to turn 50 (it's true), so my initial instinct was to look around at how the other tables were reacting to the volume. The table behind us (a six-top of seemingly undergrad types) wryly shouted at each other across their table: "how's your buffet pancakes?" "FINE! how are YOUR buffet scrambled eggs?" - I.e., the volume was absurdly high... But, here's the kicker: one of the servers (not ours, mind you) passed by and I asked him incredulously if the music was really going to be played at that volume to which he replied "yep - it probably will". I asked him if he could look into getting it turned down a little, so we didn't need to compete with it. He just walked away. Our food arrived. It took longer than I would have thought necessary, but I get that on Sunday's, this is essentially a hopped up Shoney's buffet ($15) with an optional mimosa kicker (bringing it up to $20) operation so I cut the output timing a little slack. We had two Carbonara's (incidentally, nice work, back-of-the-house! They were good!) Three Gnocchi (the report was that they were decent, but that the sauce reminded one diner of the pre-fab Double Cheddar cheese sauce that Ragu came out with a few years back), a penne dish (diner said the pasta was undercooked - I verified and agreed that it was about a minute the wrong side of Al dente) and another dish that I can't recall. Post-Mortem: 1. It's probable that this place prefers to exclude the grandparents/grandkids/Mom/Dad set. That's fine - we won't be back as a group - nor as individuals (again, I realize there's an amicable agreement by all involved here that this wasn't a match made in heaven. 2. Undergrads & Grads with transportation: there are actually many, many options for not only Sunday Brunch, but tasteful lunch and dinner experiences around town. In the event you're already coming here - that means you're acclimated to spending a pretty penny on food/drink to begin with -so you'll be very pleased once you realize you can get a more valuable experience in exchange for the same amount of money elsewhere. Yes - this is conveniently located in CollegeTown, but you can do this establishment a favor by letting them know you too know that they need to do a better job in light of all the equally priced places out there. 3. The good news for Moda is that necessary adjustments for a better rating (from me) require no money. They only require a dedicated hospitality-focused F&B manager to hire folks that want to do a good job. (Uh oh - I hit the yelp limit!)

The Lobster Ravioli is too die for! You must try it if you go there.
(5)Eric J.
Had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The sauce was good and the noodles were fine, but the chicken was kind of bland. Either needed more seasoning or to be soaked in a marinade prior to cooking. Our server was good and we were given a free dessert because it was Thursday. Overall I would go back again.

*So Ginza red didn't survive long, and in that beautiful spot there's now a new Italian place. On my first visit I ordered 4 appetizers, a house salad with salmon, and a tiramisu. Almost all of them were better than any other Italian chain or local restaurants in town. And everything is made from scratch, our server told us. Involtini melanzane was really good, with tangy and not overly salty marinara/ pasta trio was great& portion is generous/ fritto misto, very well prepared, not over salted or over-fried/ salad was good. (The only dish that didn't stand out was vongole in wine sauce..I wished for more garlic and wine flavor!) Service was mostly good (our server, Tory, was very good, knowledgeable with the food, well organized and friendly), but there were some new (still training, possibly) servers with nothing to do. I suppose this will get better with time. Also the price point is excellent compared to other locally owned restaurants. Tiramisu was $5! (Elsewhere it would have been $7-8) Appetizer prices are especially attractive. I'll definitely go again and get more main dishes. Our server says he is a lasagna fanatic, and they have the best lasagna. So I'll try that for sure next time. The owner seems to be very proud of his food, which I really admire, and everything was prepared very well. I am so glad finally there's a good Italian restaurant in tally! * I recommend their "fiocchi" filled with Gorgonzola and pear. Delicious! * The only minor problem I had was..Flat screen TVs& loud music. I wish this weren't in the college town. It's a very nicely decorated rather upscale place, and the loud noise and TVs don't match the overall atmosphere. * I would give 3.5+, but probably not 4.
(3)Karen S.
Great drink list. Not your typical Tally restaurant. Shared a pizza as an appetizer. Really good. Grilled salmon over arucola salad cooked to perfection. Read a negative review from someone claiming to be Sicilian. He must be from New York and not Sicily or Italy because he obviously doesn't know that Italian food in Italy is not covered in garlic like in New York.
(5)Michael D.
The decor is modern and interesting. The food is outstanding but the experience was marred by the over all noise level and large wall mounted tv's despite the fact that the guests were trying to talk. It was difficult to hold a conversation.
(3)Karen C.
Loved this place. I'm a bit surprised at some of the negative reviews. The drinks are phenomenal. I do like a cocktail or 2 when I go out so I appreciate innovative drinks. Their herb crusted salmon is as good as it gets. My dining partner had the lobster thermidor and it was to die for. Yes, the place is geared towards the younger set but it is in college town so I expected no less. Service was very good and I really enjoyed the hip south beach look. I travel to Tallahassee numerous times a year as I do business there. Can't wait to go back. Heard they opened a small private dining area. Good to know when I have to take clients for dinner.

Impressed with first visit. We loved the atmosphere and menu, and enjoyed everything we ordered. In a whole other league compared the other placed in town calling themselves Italian restaurants. Look forward to a return visit!

The restaurant layout is nice, as well as the concept. Once inside it does not feel like Tallahassee anymore. We went in a Saturday night to have a nice dinner...be advised that on Saturday the place turns into a "lounge". We were on the middle of eating our dinner when the restaurant started to be transformed into the lounge around us (tables/chairs are removed, music is on, strobe lights...etc) Since the hostess sat us in the middle of the restaurant (which was now the dance floor) we decided to skip dessert and leave to avoid being in the way. The complimentary bread is AWFUL. Maybe we got a bad batch, or maybe it was warmed up in the microwave . It was quite hard and slightly warm on the outside, but cold and hard in the inside. It had cheese sprinkled on top of it, and looked appetizing, but it was very disappointing. To give you an idea: The bread at Panera shines in comparison to Moda's bread. The food was nice, I had the Ravioli di Aragosta alla Vodka (Lobster Ravioli) which was good, but I was definitely left hungry. The other plates did look more plentiful. I tried another pasta dish and it very good as well. There is a full bar as well as a wine selection, but the server never brought the drink I asked for, though he was very nice! I also got to see a birthday celebration! A little dessert was brought out with someone carrying out strobe lights, and heard the most unenthusiastic rendition of Happy Birthday ever! :) I attribute the lack of enthusiasm of the staff and all the other glitches (seating someone in the middle of an empty soon-to-be dance floor, forgetting a drink..) to the restaurant and the staff being new. Overall, it was an alright experience.

The service was so bad here it brought me back to Yelp to write a review about it (took a few years off). First of, what a shame the service is gawd-awful, because the food was amazing. I was here on a Friday night with a group of 14 for a birthday party, 7:30 reservation. This was a 33rd bday party...no college kids here, all working professionals happy to spend our money on a great meal and lots of drinks. Seemed our server had a different idea as he completely passed over a few of us when the group was ordering starters and drinks. We had to call him back because 4 of us had not been able to order. Really no big deal. I had the caprese salad as a starter. It was pretty good. Some of my friends had the pasta trio (yum!) and the calamari (the marinara sauce was delicious). For my main meal I ordered the seafood risotto, and with my meal I ordered a glass of the $7 Brancott Sauvignon Blanc. The risotto was fantastic, really an incredible dish. Now we get to where the night took a bad turn. With dessert 6 of us ordered the espresso martini. On the menu the martini was listed as "stoli vanilla (may have said Smirnoff vanilla), espresso, baileys". Having been a bartender and martini drinker for years, I typically except my martinis to be cold when served. What came out was a espresso brown drink and hot in a martini glass. I took one sip and nearly spit it out. It was awful. Obviously the Baileys had been forgotten. It took a minute to flag down our waiter and when he came over I explained that the Baileys had been forgotten. This was his response: Waiter: "Oh yea, that's because we didn't use Baileys. We actually switched it up for you and made it special. You'll notice the notes of orange as you take a sip. We used marshmallow vodka, espresso and Patron XO Café." For all those wondering, that espresso flavored tequila. Me: "So basically this is a completely different drink than we ordered." Waiter: "Yes, but its an authentic Italian martini made special for all of you." Me: "Authentic Italian using tequila?????" Waiter: Blank stare, turn around and walk away. Ummmm...what??? I tried to suffer through my martini as everyone else seemed ok with theirs. It was possibly the worst drink I ever had. I kept hoping that it would get better as I drank more, but it didn't. I ended up giving mine to a friend who agreed it was horrible (I think perhaps everyone elses was a little sweeter?").. The bill was delivered and when I received mine there were 2 drinks I hadn't ordered (a glass of cab and a glass of fume blanc). I asked for the waiter to come over and explained I think he messed up on the check and mixed mine up with someone elses. Waiter: "No, we were out of the Sauvignon Blanc so I gave you the Fume Blanc instead." (its a $12 glass of wine as compared to a $7 glass of wine.) Me: "Ok, but that's not what I ordered, I ordered Sauvignon Blanc." W: "Yes, but you drank the other glass." M: "Yea, but that's not the point. That's not what I ordered. This is the second time tonight this has happened." W: "When was the first time?" M: "The espresso martinis....completely different that what was listed on the menu." W: "But you drank it." M: "Again, that's not the point. The point is in both cases you were out of something and rather than telling me or the table you brought us something totally different and added it to our bill. That's not how this works. This is a customer service job, believe me I have done this for years. You needed to give us the option rather than assume that's what we wanted and let us make the decision. Also, this cab was not mine." W: "The people beside you had it then." It was my sister and her boyfriend he was referring to, and they had already left, but had been drinking chianti. M: "No it wasn't theirs. I'm going to need you to remove this and the fume blanc from my bill as I didn't order them." W: "Well somebody ordered the cab..." M: "Well it wasn't me, so please remove this." Who ever trained this waiter should seriously consider a career change. I've never had something like this happen before. I don't think I'll rush back considering how sour the experience turned. When/if I go back, it will be for happy hour at the bar only.

The service is awful. I've been there several times and each time the same host is rude as hell. He once made me and my fiance wait at the door even though the restaurant was pretty much empty, just so he could talk on the phone. Also, I learned quickly bot to order anything with a red sauce. The meatballs are bland and they use the same red sauce for the meatballs as they do for the bread and the pasta.... which is awful because the red sauce is watery, bland and all around just bad. The drinks are good but the price is OUTRAGEOUS. Seriously, unreasonable. This is Tallahassee, not New York City. There is no reason their drinks should cost as much as they do. Over all, I am not pleased with this venue. The music sucks. The service sucks. The food is good if you dont order anything with a red sauce. The bread is too garlicky. Ugh. And any place that tries to seat a table of 2 by the door in an empty restaurant is not for me. The need a new manager because the dude with the glasses is a complete arrogant jerk off. And the whole staff can go. This is definitely not fine dining and the interior looks like a C interior design student rushed to put something together. Therr are nicer places to spend your money in Tallahassee.

We came here for Sunday brunch. The service at this restaurant was perfect. Montana was a great waitress, clearly knew how to serve wine properly and was friendly to chat with. She took great care of us and was highly attentive. Adam was not our server but was also friendly and great to talk to. The menu looked great and we did have a fantastic breakfast crepe. My fiance very much enjoyed her lemon ricotta pancake - which I highly recommend trying! You should also request whipped creme on the side (doesn't normally come with the pancake) and extra lemon ricotta on the side. Both appear to be homemade and is incredibly tasty. My steak and eggs were well prepared and I recommend them as well. We really liked the place settings, of all things. The decor was pretty great - I can tell this is a fun lounge at night. Sunday brunch was well priced for a nicer Italian restaurant. Unfortunately, that is where the positives end. There were several negatives that diminished the experience for us: - The hostess informed us that a party of 50 was expected so available seating was either the bar top or outside in the frigid, windy weather. At first we were seated inside at our request, but the hip hop music was so loud we decided to move outside. I'm glad we did, because clearly this was the unfiltered mix and every other word was "N-word," "Mother*er," or "Bitches" (lyrics such as "I'm a real n*ga, I ain't no snitch" and "Real n*gas only, rich bitches only"). After about an hour, someone turned down the music. Eventually they got away from hip hop and played a normal mix. - I sensed that the Mimosas need better / higher quality ingredients. I have had better Mimosas many other places in Tallahassee, such as Front Porch or Sage. - The wine list either needs more variety in the middle price range ($60 - $100), or needs to come down from Vegas-level pricing. I saw a couple wines that I have seen elsewhere in town at half the price. I understand margins and the need to mark things up based on location, but there should be more than 10 wines by-the-bottle for under $100. Compare that with several dozen ranging from $100 - $400. This restaurant has a lot of potential, and I will likely revise my review once we go back for dinner at some point. For now, several other Italian restaurants will serve you better such as Andrew's 228, Bella Bella and Z'Bhardi's. However, these will not provide the lounge atmosphere, if that is what you are looking for. Perhaps I'm just too old to eat in college town!
(2)Lindsay R.
Amazing food and amazing service! I got the spinach salad and added salmon and my friend got zuppa di pesce and both were absolutely delicious. I definitely recommend checking it out
(5)Christin Y.
Ask for the lobster ravioli for lunch. Delicious. Super fresh bruschetta. Also tried the gnocchi, which was tasty. Great lunch spot (I'm sure for dinner, also), close to campus.
(4)Jenny O.
Amazing homemade Italian wedding soup....bruschetta is also amazing !! Only complaint is the student (non-professional) service. Students try, but they ask too many questions and interrupt the meal.
(4)Emily M.
I had a frighteningly bad experience here. I ordered a beer from the bar, and wanted to open a tab. Instead I was immediately handed a receipt and had to wait for the drink. After a few minutes, I tried to get the bartenders attention to let her know I had paid but was still waiting for my drink and was completely ignored, and told I was wrong. Eventually, I asked to speak with a manager but she instead called security who promptly took me outside and asked me to leave. I had to show them my receipt to prove I was still waiting, and after a few minutes was unceremoniously handed a beer and let back with no apology. I understand they have a crowd to control sometimes, but this was a tuesday and absolutely unacceptable.

Beautiful place, great location, good service, all the atmosphere you'd want but some things are just not there. Hopefully that needs a "yet" attached, given the potential. I'll differ for now and will give it a 2nd shot in January after FSU claims it's 2nd consecutive national title. And no, I am not an FSU fan - I am all Auburn. Back to food and such - Dover sole done right is fabulous; a favorite of mine. This sole, and I asked if it was truly Dover and assured that it was, had an odd texture. Frozen perhaps, something other than what was represented, precooked and reheated? Regardless of the cause, the effect was a not - so - good dish with way too many almonds on the crust. Pasta was perfectly al dente but with too much raw or semi - raw garlic for my garlic loving self. Marinara sauce was very good. Bread was very good but was served late in the meal and too was overly heavy with garlic. We were visited by (he did not intro himself - owner, manager) and asked about our experience. I greatly appreciated the visit and questions but was left wondering if our input carried any weight. Not sure why - body language, speech nuances . . . Maybe I read it all wrong and again his visit was much appreciated. See you guys in January!

We had a birthday reservation and they completely messed it up. Had to wait 15 mins to be seated, then ended up moving tables. Service was mediocre but food was pretty good. Don't come here in large parties.
(2)Jeanette P.
Incredible atmosphere. Much needed place here in college town offering excellent Italian food for the price. The penne with red sauce was great. But the lobster ravioli with pink sauce was the best; smooth and flavorful! The tiramasu was sweet and moist. I recommend anybody looking for a different vibe than most lounge and dine restaurants to come here!
(4)Jolie A.
Been here a few times and I still love it!! The atmosphere is great and the food is authentic Italian! I love coming here for lunch and dinner, especially to relax after a long week of working. You have to try the fiocchi when you done here!!
(4)Cdp O.
I've had the mushroom risotto and this wonderful appetizer that's a bunch of cold marinated vegetables, though I can't remember the Italian name. The cocktails were pretty good as well and the atmosphere is fun and fancy, but not overly so. The service is also been very good both times I've been there. There was a small hair in one of my dining companion's dishes and they apologized profusely. The manager voluntarily came over to apologize for it and make sure we were happy. i'm not that freaked out about hair, it happens in every kitchen and they acted appropriately. Why am I giving it three stars you ask? Because they charge an EXTRA dollar per alcoholic drink if you ask for it on the rocks. We questioned our very nice server about it when we got the bill and saw it, who seemed embarrassed, but powerless to take it off. When you go here, I guess you should bring your own ice if you want to avoid paying that. :-)

AVOID THIS RESTAURANT ALTOGETHER...... The food was pricey (for what you got) and the experience was not good. I would not go back. Read on for the gory details. The atmosphere is quite loud. You must shout your conversation to be heard as there is no cloth or acoustic tiles to absorb the sound. Loud conversations are generally tolerated best by the young crowd, but the menu prices here were out-of-sync. Moda's prices are not cheap. I ordered the bow tie pasta with salmon in a pink cream sauce, $18. I asked the waitress if the salmon was cooked all the way through and she said yes. A question such as this implies that a slab of fish is to be delivered. The dish came with hardly a speckle of salmon in it. 99-percent noodles and heavy cream sauce. No sides, no garnish. I ate a quarter of it and left the rest to be thrown away. After all, how much heavy cream can you digest in one sitting? My date ordered the anti-pasta appetizer. It came with very little meat and had a large section of the plate devoted to an eggplant relish. He didn't like the relish and expected more meat. And lastly, I believe the wait staff need some additional training IMHO. Aside from the waitress overlook about the salmon dish, here are some other undesirable behaviors. One waiter cut in front of me when I was being led to my table to be seated. Another problem was the continual jarring of my chair by wait staff bumping into it.

MODA has a resplendent menu full of Italian comfort food! My sons and I had the Brunch and it was fantastic! If I lived in town I'd be a Sunday regular! The steak and eggs were cooked to perfection and my lox and cream cheese the best I've had. Attentive server Chloe made all our experience awesome! This is a must go place to savor the excellent menu items!
(5)Adriana C.
Real and authentic Italian food. The Fiocchi is to die for!! I have never had a plate there that disappointed. Service is great also. The restaurant looks and feels like it belongs in a high end hotel. Very nice ambiance. If you're looking for great food and a great ambiance I would highly recommend Moda.
(5)Luke T.
Awesome place! Swanky atmosphere. Nice staff. Try the Focchi or the Chicken Parm. Will be back soon!
(4)Scot H.
Was disappointed at the fact that our server did not offer / provide any free and or "tap" water. When approaching the table the server asked what kind of water we preferred. When my guest questioned what they had the server only suggested flat or sparkling. Flat is regular water. When the server brought out the already opened bottle of Aqua Panna we assumed the glass was just for decoration due to improper serving etiquette. The bill was brought and there's the charge. The other table had water poured for them before they even sat. They were not charged. Thanks with your attempt at up charge; and tell your beverage worker to pour ladies first. Thanks.

Tonight I indulged in pasta,my favorite after a long day working. The pasta was cooked perfectly, and simply with a tomato basil...not exactly sauce, rather sautéed tomatoes and a few basil leaves. If you like big chunks of garlic in your Italian food this is for you. My only complaint-my first drink served was the wrong one, and when I got back with my to go dessert order, it was wrong also. Oh, and the music, disco Tina Turner style, was incredibly loud; that, combined with a few large group tables made for a riotously loud dinner. The actual pasta though...yum.

Went for brunch and it was just terrible. Food was awful, mimosas tasted like they were made from Tang and our stomachs hurt for hours after. I mean, they ran out of syrup. How does a brunch place run out of syrup before 1 o'clock? $20 seems like a reasonable price for all you can eat and all you can drink but I would not go here again even if it was free.

I would've given a 5 star review , but at the end of our fabulous dinner and great service surrounded by an enchanting atmosphere, all was interrupted on our very last glass of white sangria ( especially made for us, which was delicious) when the waitress told us her manager asked her to ask us to please hurry up with the drinks so they could sit other ppl. We only had 1/2 a glass left, truly about 5 more minutes. After about 2 minutes, the manager comes and asked us again if we could please hurry up with our drinks or move to the bar, which we couldn't because we had an under age with us. I nicely told them how SHOCKED I was to have been told to hurry up so they could use the table. The manager started a discussion with me about why we needed to move. This "discussion" prompted the owner to come and embarrassed by the actions of the manager, apologized ( a little late now, since we had already got up, left our sangrias, annoyed at the fact that if they would've waited just 5 minutes we could've finished our family dinner) offered free drinks at the bar, but clearly thought it was ok to rush us out of our table. IDK if this is common practice in restaurants but this has never ever happened to us anywhere! We are going back to where we always get the most delicious food, great service and awesome atmosphere...BELLA BELLA Restaurant!

I travel often and I'm always looking for authentic food wherever I go. I do my best to stay out of the chain restaurants because I enjoy finding the best local spots. I can honestly say that Moda is an outstanding choice for fresh authentic Italian food in Tallahassee! The service is also outstanding and makes the overall experience that much more special. I have to thank Steven, our bar tender, for introducing himself and making excellent drink and dinner recommendations. You are in great hands if you've got Steven working for you and can expect a standard of excellence that you'll find in any of the best places.

My boyfriend and I had the worst service of our lives here last night. After being seated, it took about 5-7 minutes for us to even be greeted ( I should note that besides another couple and a few people at the bar, we were the only people in the restaurant). Upon greeting us our waitress then told us that she would be with us in a few more minutes. After which, we saw her approach the bar to chat with her friends and said "we should take shots", taking shots while working? Really? So unprofessional. Then when she finally came over to take our order, we asked for bread and she never brought any. Another waiter seemed to notice her behavior as he was giving her strange glances and brought us our bread. When the food came out she asked if we wanted any parmesan cheese or cracked pepper and we said yes but of course it never came. I wasn't surprised when it took forever to get the check and another 5 minutes for her to come back and take our card. She spent the entire night chatting and drinking with her friends. I was so disappointed because our last experience was so wonderful but now we will NEVER be returning here again. I hope the manager wasn't on duty because if he saw this and allowed it then I am even more disappointed.

My wife and I ate here for Sunday brunch. I ordered steak and eggs. When I asked for bread to go with my eggs the server told me they don't serve bread with brunch (!) but she would bring me some anyway. What came out was toasted pre-sliced American grocery store bread which any Italian restaurant should be ashamed to have on its premises. My sunny-side-up eggs were way over-cooked so I sent them back. The steak was not medium rare as I ordered but closer to well done but I didn't send it back because I didn't want to wait. My wife ordered eggs Benedict. Her eggs were over-cooked also, and instead of being served on English muffins were served on small pieces of the aforementioned bread. The hollandaise sauce was rather skimpy. There were no sides. There was a blue and red strobe light above our table that cast a purple glow over us from time to time. When we asked our server about it she said that the place was a "lounge" at night. Well, it wasn't night then but I guess nobody knew how to turn it off. I noticed that the family of six sitting at the next table were also having problems. One of them was served the wrong thing and three of them got cold food which they sent back. The two who didn't send their's back finished eating and the others still hadn't gotten their food so they left.

Great service and reasonable prices + walking distance to stadium. As good as Italian food gets in Tally!
