Got to Tallahassee starving, and walked into this deli. I was recommended to try the chicken cordon bleu (chicken, ham, swiss, light lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard). I ordered it with garlic sauce, and it hit the spot. It was pressed, and perfectly done. I hate wraps that drip the dressing all over your fingers, and make a complete mess - not the case here. I'd recommend it for a quick, delicious and economical lunch spot! Great oldies music selection, too!

Excellent for a light and Filling lunch. Broccoli and cheddar soup was delicious and for a half sandwich and a bowl of soup 6 bucks was extremely fair. My sandwich was well put together and tastes fresh. Will definitely be back! Very delicious! Nice workers. Crowded and poor parking but easily acceptable.

Stumbled un this place while walking downtown and had the perfect deli lunch. The service was great and the food was even better. Biggest surprise for me was three different vegetarian options. I chose the veggie melt and they made it exactly to my liking. The young guy making sandwiches is fantastic. He was helpful in ordering and made sure our good was just how we wanted it. Where rude can you get service like that and fill your belly downtown for under 9 bucks a piece with a drink and side?

Stopped here for a fast lunch and it was great! I chose the chicken cordon bleu wrap and was not disappointed. It's toasted, with just the right amount of honey mustard dressing, and fresh yummy chicken. I love that their sandwiches come with a pickle. Prices are reasonable, as the portions are quite large. Can't wait to go for breakfast tomorrow!

Best dang sandwich in town. The meats are all nitrate and preservative free. The salad dressings and soups are homemade. Fresh baked cookies. Fresh brewed tea is delish. Veggies all fresh cut, breads soft and tasty, huge portions, I can't say enough. Not only is the food top notch, but the service is quick and friendly. This locally owned deli is one of the best stops in Tallahassee. I highly recommend the garlic turkey grinder, cool and spicy turkey wrap or The Baze.

Five Star In Class: I've been here about a dozen times so I'm by no means "a regular". If I worked within walking distance, Metro Deli would be on a regular (weekly) rotation. This place depends on the downtown lunch bunch, and by the hubbub of diners on most any weekday, it would seem that the patrons depend on this place - and with good reason(s): 1. They are a "go-to" operation for dependable delivery to the local firms, associations, businesses and the like. Judging what I've seen go out the door with an in-house courier, it appears that no order is too big - or too small. 2. Service is very considerate and customer focused. While very casual (the guys wear black "Metro Deli" t-shirts but they're consistently in uniform), the service is squarely focused on the operation of what I'd call a well greased machine. 3. The menu has the usual suspects in a deli line-up, along with some trailblazers (bistro roast beef grinder, the "Baze" to name 2). They do a great job of representing the standards (pastrami, corned beef) and have the sides to boot. Additionally, there's often a lunch special that does a good job of enticing the people to come. 4. Ambiance - modest but well decorated with celebrity and movie posters as well as personal photos, the occasional framed LP cover, and regional team pennants. (Yes, there are two big-screens casting ESPN). I largely come for breakfast - and always get the Fire Wrap. It's good - although perhaps I should wander a bit and check out the other items over time. I will always opt for the unique and "home-grown" places rather than franchises and the like. There's only one Metro Deli. I always prefer downtown over suburban or rural, when all else is equal. Metro Deli is "all up in the downtown" with a location that many an association envies - a stone's throw from the capital. I really like Metro Deli.

Good for a quick bite, never had anything that completely blew me away, but haven't eaten here since I began eating meat, so I could be unfairly biased

Conveniently located near the State Capitol, Metro Deli's menu is nothing spectacular -- just what you would find in any other deli -- but their staff is among the most pleasant folks I have ever encountered. We stopped by here on a roadtrip to simply use their facilities. I always feel guilty when I do this, so I at least try to get something so I feel like I am not taking advantage of anyone. The daughter was hungry and ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. It turned out to be bigger than I was anticipating and cheaper compared to the other grilled cheese sandwiches at other places. I had a bite and it was good. What would make me recommend Metro Deli are the friendly guys who were there that day. When we told them that we really are just passing through and have probably just half an hour to get an impression of Tallahassee, they encouraged us to check out the capitol and go to the top floor to get a great view of the city. They also told us to try to visit the museum which was literally just across the State Capitol (20 steps from the daughter's count -- she was kind of leaping). So go check out Metro Deli for legit sandwiches and pleasant service.

Great location near the capital. Only popped in for a drink but the staff had no issue with allowing us to linger and talk for as much time as we needed. Seemed clean and I'll try to check out the menu next time I'm in downtown.

Their meatball and cheese steak subs are very lackluster. I've been disappointed with them every time I've gotten one there. Their deli sandwiches and grinders are much better and are actually pretty tasty. I had their broccoli cheese soup the other day and it was pretty horrible. It's very watered down and there was absolutely no cheese in it whatsoever. It was basically yellow water with a few pieces of broccoli in it. Very very disappointed in the broccoli cheese soup! In addition, this place is getting very very pricey! I ordered a grinder sandwich, cup of soup, and a fountain drink. The price came to $12.31! Then I of course felt obligated to tip $2 to the delivery guy..so my simple deli lunch came to about $15! For a company that depends on downtown workers to buy their food on a daily basis, this is way too much to pay for a deli lunch. To add insult to injury, they upped all their prices but failed to update their website. So when you place an order by phone expecting it to be a particular price, you end up paying more in the end because they upped their prices without bothering to change their menu on their OWN website. As of today, their soups are listed as $2.50. Now they are $2.75 but haven't been updated. Their drinks aren't $1.50 anymore, they are $1.75. Due to this place being very hit or miss with their subs and soups, and the expensiveness of the food, I can't give it more than 2 stars.

One of my favorite lunch spots. Great specials. Cordon bleu, cheeseburger wrap, pizza sub. Can't beat it.

For me the Benchmark Deli sandwich I like to order is simple it goes by many names and at Metro Deli it rocks and rolls! Rye Corn Beef Swiss Coleslaw Russian Dressing Grilled (I add tomato sometimes but thats just me not typical) It was awesome, I ate half and wanted to stop, knew I should, tried to talk myself into it, ultimately my primal side took over and before I could stop the forward momentum the whole darn heap of happy flavor was no where to be seen, I knew where it went, down my gullet, and wow, how happy was I! Complimented along the way with a crisp bottle of IBC root beer what else can one ask for? If I lived around here this spot would be a regular stop for me with out a doubt! Hope I can make it back one day for another round of great deli delight!

Was on a trip to Tallahassee with my son and wandered in here about 3pm after doing the walking tours all day. Ordered a whole Cuban, bag of chips, Brunswick stew and drink. Was plenty of food to split with my kid and it was delicious. Also, we stayed until 3:40, not realizing they close at 3:30, and the guys never said a word. They were so sweet and polite. I really like this place. Cuban was thick and hot and yummy. Stew was chunky and very flavorful.

A Michelin three star, it's not. A good deli, it sure is. When we first walked in, my girlfriend remarked, "It reminds me of New York!" Except they're friendly here...not so much in New York. It's a no frills deli, but they have great sandwiches.

Tasty, well prepared sandwiches. A signature downtown tallahassee location popular with the business crowd. This place makes the downtown area one of those "cool" places to go. If you are a fan of chicken salad sandwiches, the "Baze" is about as good as it gets.

I've been meaning to come by here for a while but its closed Saturdays and Sundays, and i usually try not to go out to eat during my lunch break. Anywho, after hanging around downtown today I finally had a chance to stop in, and to my surprise there was a line out the door for the restaurant! The service was fast though, we ordered in just under 2 minutes and the food was delicious. I got a tuna on rye and the veggies and everything on it was great, but I do wish the bread was fresh rye ...or at least Publix rye, but that's asking a bit much for Tallahassee deli. The prices were a little steep, almost $6 for just a sandwich and nothing else, but the chips were only a dollar extra, and the soup seemed good and I didn't realize until afterwards I could get soup and half a sandwich for the same price as a full sandwich. I'd definitely recommend it, especially if you need something quick and you're in the area. Definitely going to try the garlic turkey sandwich the next time I come. I wish I could give this 3.5 stars instead of just three but what can ya do...
