Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Los Compadres is one of those restaurants that you have to appreciate for what it is. It's inexpensive Mexican food, delicious Margaritas and unlimited chips and salsa. I'd say the staff tends to get overwhelmed on busier nights (such as a Saturday), but I think that's more of a management problem than the actual servers. The most enjoyable time to go is mid day when it's not very busy, the service is better and it's a more relaxed environment. More on the positive elements of Los Compadres. It is a great location, located on the popular Pensacola Street and close to a lot of student housing; if you and your friends want to snag a couple of their 2-4-1 Margaritas you can probably just walk there. Also, more on their Margarita deals, their lime Margaritas "on the rocks" are typically half off. Another thing I love about Los is the unlimited chips and salsa. It's is one of my guilty pleasures in life. By the time I order food I usually just order something off the "A La Carte" menu which costs anywhere from $2.00-$7.00. To reiterate, this isn't somewhere I would bring my parents to when they come in town but it is a great place to go with a group of friends for some food and delicious Margs.

This place isn't the cleanest but has really strong, really good margaritas. The ground beef is of dubious quality, but you get what you pay for. Cheap, standard food. This place is good to celebrate birthdays because they will make a spectacle for you.

I think I could go to jsut about every mexican restaurant in the world. This place is right up the road (meaning closer than by absolute fav mexican place). It is pretty large and they have some outdoor seating too. The wait staff is nice, and can be fun. The food, is okay....I always get tamales or a quesadilla. I have tried both and they are decent. nothing special. their beans are good but rice is normally overcooked....or should i saw, over microwaved. Their chips are good always fresh, but the salsa is a little bland. You can ever go wrong with the queso!!! MARGARITASSSSSS.......no word to describe them other than strong!!!. they always have 2-4-1 everyday for the lime marg ont he rocks with salt. they are a pretty big size too....yet I have still had better.... Their prices are higher than what they should be. But overall, it is a good place to try. I might just have a little bias due to my favorite place :)

Decent "Americanized" Mexican food, decent vegetarian menu! AWESOME drink specials and a super cheap lunch menu! As far as vegan options go, they have several options that work out very well! Their veggie fajitas can be made vegan without sour cream or cheese. Obviously you can always get a veggie burrito without cheese, but the fajitas are the way to go! Best Mexican food that I've had in Tallahassee!

Food here is decent nothing special. Pretty cheap and the margarita's are ok. My biggest pet peave about this place - and why I won;t here again - it's not always clean. You will get seated at a table that is "clean" prior to you getting seated. I always see someone wipe down the table. But as soon as I get to it I ALWAYS have to call someone back. And they put guacamole on everything. (Por favor, no guacamole.... "oh okay") I get my food and this green glob is telling me "I look like ish don't I." (I'm against sending food back I can just picture Eminem in the kitchen). So I just eat around it. Then when they come back they ask "Oh you don't like guacamole?"). I miss the old location.

Great drinks, great food and great prices! Los Compadres is easily my favorite restaurant in the Tallahassee area. The waiters are always a pleasure to talk to and are very attentive. The drinks are strong and inexpensive, while the food is absolutely delicious. If you've never been, I highly recommend a large margarita and an order of carnitas. Mmmm! :)

I went on a Friday at lunchtime and they were fairly busy, but easily able to accommodate my party of 2. They had several larger parties. The lunch menu was very reasonably priced and I had the chicken fajita. The chips and salsa were good, but I really liked the guacamole. The food came quickly and the chicken fajita was sizzling and delicious. Our server was very polite and efficient, and even offered to split our check with no prompting. Overall, a great lunch experience!

Loved it. Cheap and tasty. Similar to Mexican I've had in other cities. The margaritas were great too. AND they were like $4 each in huge glasses. Worth it.

Went in just now was seated then given chips and sat 15 minutes no service.. Seems understaffed . Chips were mediocre at best with tiny sauce bowls lol

Loved this place! Went for a friends birthday and chips are good, the waiters there are really nice, I ordered seafood tacos, pretty decent~We even got the birthday special singing from the waiters there! it is just such a good place to hang out. Would definitely go again! Happy experience! And I will bring my ID for margarita!

Why 2 stars? Because I've never had a server make so many mistakes on one order. --- --- --- After work one day, my girlfriend and I drove straight up to Tallahassee from Tampa. I hadn't eaten much since lunch time and by the time we made the four hour journey to North Florida, I was almost hungry enough to do something really awful. I briefly considered....eating at.....McDonald's. Fortunately, I was able to persevere and hold out for Los Compadres. Unfortunately, our server tried his hardest to give us everything that we did not ask for. My order: Diet Pepsi and Beef Quesadillas What I got: Pepsi and Chicken Quesadillas My girlfriend's order: Pepsi and 2 Hard Tacos What my girlfriend got: Pepsi and 2 Soft Tacos So is getting 1 out of 4 things correct a good thing or a bad thing? If it's baseball, I guess being a .250 isn't too shabby. I didin't hate my chicken quesadilla, but it wasn't anything special. And that was when my hunger meter was red lining at dangerous levels. At times like that EVERYTHING is supposed to taste like the best meal of your life. Bottom line - I probably would give Los Compadres another shot next time I am in Tallahassee and just make sure that I don't end up with Mister 1 out of 4.

When it comes to mexican restaurants, I have already come to accept the fact that I'm usually getting microwaved food with minimal service, and if I'm lucky I can find a good margarita. I was in Tallahassee visiting an associate and he suggested we try Los Compadres. After the server asked our drink order, he returned to ask for my drink order again, so I changed it to see if he noticed which he didn't. Then came the chips, which seemed stale enough to possibly be from earlier tables, and a 4 oz to-go plastic ramekin of salsa. We wanted to order cheese dip, but we were deserted by our waiter and eventually ended up walking out. The experience was "El Horrible"

They remodel the place not to long ago and modify their menu. The place is clean and has great atmosphere. We asked our server about the changes and said that they had a new owner. I really recommend this place. A must go for students and families.

Ordered two cheese enchilada and a bean burrito and got two bean enchiladas with a beef burrito. I waited for them to remake it and the cheese in my enchilada was not melted. It tasted terrible. :(

One of my favorite spots for Mexican in Tallahassee! The food is Tex Mex style. I always get the pick 3, they also have a pick 2 but for one more dollar you can get an extra item. With that deal there's many options. I usually get the quesadilla, enchilada, and the burrito with queso sauce. They all have so much flavor and you will be stuffed afterwards!! They have 2 for 1 margaritas on Saturdays (or you can do half off) they are huge and pretty strong! My favorite is the frozen strawberry.

Not the best place to eat as Yelp rating seems to hold true. I was dragged to this place with coworkers aiming to try the local Mexican restaurant nearby the office. The prices are very competitive but the food quality is not the greatest.

ONLY DRINKS, NOT FOOD. The drinks online ON ALL THIER WEBSITES said "2 for 1 Margaritas after 2pm" but server said that was incorrect and was 2nd 1/2 off, but even then, the food me and my sister split was awful...Ugh those chili rellenos were the worst. You can't fry something and then reheat it in the microwave expecting them to be crispy... And don't even get me started on our bad server. Came to the table a total of 4 times over a span of 2.5 hours. Drinks strong but overall awful

ok so los campadres is deff a great place to get some pretty decent as close to authentic as u can get Mexican food in Florida. this place is always a great stop in. the service is always very nice and attentive. if u dont speak Spanish not even a little u may find it difficult to understand what they are saying however they will work with u to figure it out. and if u do speak Spanish or even just a little things go rather smoothly. now as i said dont think that just cuz ur not knowledgeable in the native tongue means u shouldnt go.. cuz ur wrong.. everything i have ever had here was excellent.. a couple of my all time favorites is the chicken taco salad.. the chesses they shred on top of it is oh so good. and the chicken quesadilla, u will be surprised how big it is when it comes out. Everything on there menu is very well priced so even the person on a budget or your average college student will have no problem affording the meal here... and hey not sure if they still do but they used to have an all u can eat night on wed. it was like 8 bux or so and a limited menu but it had a lot of there best items.. and for 8 bux u cant beat that. so check it out they may still do that. all in all this place is great if your craving some good mexican food or even just some chips and salsa with a nice margarita or corona. deff stop on in and check it out. you'll be pleased u did.

I went here Friday night for a birthday party and enjoyed it. The food was good and came promptly and the service was good too. They had great drink specials and the food pricing was very reasonable as well. The only reason, I did not give 5 stars is because it was very very loud in there. I know they have no control over the noise level but it was just a bit much for me. I definitely will return but maybe at a not so busy time.

Nom nom nom. I love Los Compradres. It is all about the combo of chicken quesadilla with a taco and rice and beans. mmmm this place is cheap and delish.

I'm surprised Los Compadres has gotten so many good reviews. The only thing that makes this place worth it is the all you can eat Wednesdays, and even that's overpriced. The food is mediocre, never as hot as I wish it was, and way too much cheese on everything. The quality of the meat here is probably a little bit higher than Taco Hell's. Once I thought ahead and ordered no cheese on my food and the cooks made every person at my table's food without cheese...uhhh talk about unaccomidating.

You won't find the best Mexican food ever made here but it's good and cheap which works for me. The 2-4-1 Margaritas are never watered down and that's a plus for me. Until Morelia's reopens in Tally, Los is my go to spot when I'm craving Mexican.
