Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Went here after my sister's FSU graduation. Great service and great food! Beautiful outside seating.

It had been years since I had been to Little Italy. So when a work luncheon was arranged there a few months ago, I looked forard to dining there. So yeah. Italian. The menu seemed so "old school." No pesto, no gnocchi, no risottto, no veal osso busco, no proscitto.... The only ravioli was cheese ravioli. The menu could have been from 1985, rather than 2015. Our group of 15 ordered from the menu. Service was efficient. But honestly, nothing stood out. No one said "oh wow, this _____ is great, try a bite."The marinara sauce was OK, We showed up, we ate some decent I-talian food, and we left.

Came for dinner with wife and two teen sons, all were pleasantly surprised. Arrived at 7pm, nice out. Loved the courtyard and outside seating. Fresh flowers and candle on all tables. Water fountain made nice ambiance. Decent prices. Fresh bread was excellent. Boys split large pepperoni pizza, they liked it. Wife got the baby eggplant pizza, thought it was delicious. I got a ham and cheese calzone, really enjoyed it -- could've had more of the ham and cheese but still ok. TWO THINGS THAT WERE GREAT SURPRISES... Live blue-grass music every Tuesday, and 15% off entire bill on Tuesdays!! We'll definitely be back - and with our community of friends!!!

A true gem in Tallahassee! After living in Tallahassee for several years I only JUST discovered "Little Italy" -- really wish I had found it sooner. It's on Magnolia Drive in the same complex as Winn Dixie. Not the first location you'd think of when going to an Italian restaurant, but there's actually a very nice courtyard courtyard set back within the complex. It creates a very nice atmosphere. My group ate at night, outside. The inside of the restaurant looked pretty dated. Outside was very nice though, there were lit candles on the tables. Either way this place has been open for 25 years or so so we had expectations that despite the initial appearances they must be doing something right. The food was pretty good -- friends convinced it was all made fresh. Could have been...maybe not, but it was good either way. I'm a fan of this place, will certainly give it another try.

This restaurant delivers every time! Hands down, best pizza in town and the service is amazing. Great atmosphere and make this restaurant a weekly visit!

What a great little restaurant! If you want simple, delicious, family food, this is the place! Quiet, and relaxed. Good service. And a wonderful true Italian meal. Bread was hot, even though plain. Butter- real. Loved it! Sauces were heavenly. We will be back.

I really enjoyed Little Italy... When I lived in Tallahassee I would visit for lunch or frequent for Friday night dinner. When friends visited in town, this was my go-to for a decent meal out. I liked that they offered outdoor seating, which I always took advantage of. I found this place to be quaint. They were affordable, too, and the food was of pretty good quality. I often ordered the calzone, which was large and delicious and my leftovers often served as a late-night snack. For $6 you couldn't go wrong. The cannoli was excellent, as well.

Went here at the recommendation of a friend. Should have checked the Yelp reviews first. Pasta fagioli soup was so-so, a bit salty. The veal marsala was a nice portion but bland in taste. Although my server was very nice and attentive, the food quality wouldn't compel me to return.

From the decor, to the food, to the service, this is a place to avoid at all costs. It couldn't be any worse.

A nice little Italian place with good food and (usually) generous portions. I loved the spinach calzone (finished it myself) and the chicken parmigiana is easily enough for two. The service is ok, but nothing out of the ordinary. I would say it is better than much of the Italian I have had in Tallahassee, and the fact that they have takeout has saved us on many an evening.

Ive been here more than I ever wanted due to others wanting to go. I don't care for it at all. Even the Calzones need help. I've had the Marsala, parmesan, and carbonara- each one lacking And making it overpriced for what you get. Have tea instead of the house wine.

Was hoping for better; sadly not impressed at all. Spaghetti & meatballs was OK, if a little smaller than Olive Garden's entree at about the same price. OG also provides not just more, but a salad too, which doesn't come with Little Italy's entree. LI's bread was good, though; hot & tasty. Not comparable to OG's breadsticks, but only because it's a different style. The cheesecake wasn't anything special; it was small (half the size of OG's, with 3 minuscule taps of whipped cream) & reminded me much more of store-bought than scratch. For (again) the same $$ as OG it was half the size & nowhere near as good. The difference in the check for a roughly equivalent dinner for two at the two places was $5, which considering OG's excellent salad & LI's no-salad-at-all makes it more like $10, never mind the cheesecake difference. Normally I'll give a place at least two tries before deciding I won't go back, but as with La Fiesta I'm forced to make an exception for Little Italy. I hope this doesn't happen to again. I *can* be sure it won't happen at this place again, unfortunately.

Went here with my school while we were visiting for Lobby Day! We were a huge party but our waitress was on the ball. She made sure our drinks were filled and our food was exactly how we ordered it. She went out of her way to ensure we were all happy. I had the Eggplant Florentine, which was delicious, and I also tried a chicken dish that was quite yummy! If I am ever back in Tally, I would certainly go back.

Come for the ambiance - and the usual suspects on a "casera" style Italian ristorante. Outdoors is always best - we came tonight and the courtyard was packed - kids and canines welcome. I like the carbonara myself, but often get a piccata as well.
(4)Tiff H.
We came here because we had a groupon. Its obvious why the restaurant had to resort to coupon, it was deserted when we were there. kinda scary how creeped out we felt..... The food was alright with very affordable prices. Calorie count to price ratio was ridiculous. Got a calzone, which wasn't bad, but I'm pretty sure its hard to mess one of those up. may not come here again unless someone bought another groupon and brought me along for a free meal...

My dining experience has been phenomenal. The calamari was fresh, and cooked perfectly. The Gorgonzola dressing on my salad was excellent, and my chicken ptarmigan was that of the gods. I will 100% eat here again.
(5)Kris M.
Been coming here a number of times. Food and service are excellent. Honestly, its one of mine and my girlfriend's favorite places to eat. We've had a number of dishes here and everything has been great.

Great little mom n pop restaurant with as close as I can find to Brooklyn style pizza in Tallahassee. Love the cheese they use on their pizza. They also have great bread, don't like that it comes with pre packaged individual butter, but the butters good. They also have homemade cease dressing that is great.
(5)Elyse F.
The Sicilian pizza is my favorite here, I have never been disappointed with the food. Service is always extremely friendly, not perfect but you can tell the staff means well and really cares. The courtyard is wonderful!
(4)April G.
Little Italy is a favorite restaurant of ours. The bread always comes out hot and on a nice night, there is nothing better than sitting in the courtyard. They have some fantastic pizzas and I recommend the calzones. I also love the chicken piccata (though I do usually add a pinch of salt). The service is always friendly and attentive but not overly aggressive. Forget the chain Italian restaurants in town! Check out Little Italy and you won't be disappointed.

Food is solid here. It is normal Italian. Pizza. Pasta soups and salad. A good deal and good hot food
(4)Phillip W.
Best Italian food in Tallahassee that I've found so far. Service is above average as well, and it's affordable. Not sure what everyone is complaining about here, as I've eaten here on multiple occasions, and always have a great experience.
(4)Ryan A.
Awesome atmosphere and even better food! The staff were incredibly nice! Best thing by far is the live blue grass band on Tuesdays! I will definitely go back and recommend to friends!
(5)Jessica V.
Charming restaurant, awesome food and great, welcoming staff. This place is the real deal, you're feel like you're in Italy, everything is fresh and handmade. It's a tie between the chicken picatta and (any) pizza for my favorite. Their soups are wonderful too! They've also got a nicely lit courtyard area with a fountain, it's a perfect date night spot!
(5)Maddy L.
Nice staff, family owned and (mostly) operated. Awesome outdoor seating. Indoor decor is a little dated if you care about that sort of thing. Dishes are delicious (I love the Carbonara and the Linguine with Clam Sauce), large portions, good prices and the pizza is great too!

The quaint, mom and pop restaurant is everything and more you'd expect from the local, Italian ristorante. Being Italian, about once a week I have this strong, overpowering urge to stuff my face with cuisine from the homeland. There's a short, old lady who runs the joint. She's branded with a thick, Italian accent and always desires the patrons to go home bursting at the seams (like all Italians). Her pleasantness and her matronly mannerisms make here a joyous delight to talk to. When I think of authentic Italian food, I picture large plates, succulent meats, an abundance of herbs, fresh bread, and masterful sauces. After coming here for years, it's safe to say this is what you consistently receive. The linguine with clams is a five star dish. Big chunks of fresh clams and perfectly cooked pasta pair together seamlessly. It's served with a heaping of fresh bread and it runs you only $10.95! You can order take out, dine in, or even go alfresco in the scenic courtyard. Little Italy will never provide you the flash or the glitter, but it will always provide great service in a comfortable environment with a complete and satisfying, home-cooked meal. From the atmosphere to the downhome righteous cuisine, I love everything about Little Italy.

My family and friends have eaten here for years and love the food. Always served fresh bread with the fresh salad that comes with all entrees. The roasted bell peppers and anchovies are delicious and easily shared with 2 or 3 people. Vegetarian meals also offered as well as fish, meat and pasta combos. Service is good plus you can dine outside in nice weather. Food prepared when ordered so ingredients you don't like can be omitted.

Delicious, home-made Italian food at a decent price! The location seems odd, but once you approach, you realize how adorable the little courtyard is and how perfect of a place it would be to sit outside and eat in the Fall or Spring. The atmosphere is humble, sort of reminds you of home, and the owner/chef greets all of her guests. I love the mussels and linguine with white wine sauce. They bring fresh bread to munch on at the table while you wait for your entrees. Service is friendly and patient (especially while we butcher Italian words). We'll definitely be back.

This is a hidden restaurant in Tallahassee. Food was more than expected, in quality and quantity. Would recommend this place definitely for Italian lovers. Owner was very appreciative of our presence and always confirmed our comfort and quality if food

Eh. I'd eat it again if it were free. And I were starving.
(2)Megan Kristen M.
Super service, great meatballs. We had an excellent time :)
(3)Spencer K.
Small, family owned Italian restaurant that has your standard Italian. Step up from Olive Garden, step down from Carrabba's. Wine list isn't extensive and the pours aren't generous. The patio area is nice tho. Only thing worth mentioning. Just your basic Italian place!
(3)Ashley H.
This restaurant is okay. It's not my favorite Italian place to eat (although in Tallahassee, we are talking slim pickings). The bread is always over-baked and therefore the crust could take out a filling. The food is fine, although nothing to write home about. I've had spaghetti and meatballs here, as well as a chicken dish or two. My boyfriend seems to enjoy the veal there more than I enjoy my dishes. Service is always good. It's a real Mom and Pop place. I would caution against ordering pizza here, however...they really overcharge!
(2)Hector S.
Have to say it was pretty bad, simple dishes made into disaster. Baked items seem to be frozen then, microwaved then baked just to give it that oven look. Oh and you burn garlic bread?
(1)Chandler B.
Would give no stars if possible. The Alfredo I had was like pasta in raw milk. .. Horrible. The salads are a joke and the quality is the worst. Avoid at all costs. Boo ! Awful service and worse food.. When talking to owners, they said well dont eat here if you dont like the food... oh, well... enough said... eat at your own risk. :-(
(1)Linda M.
This is a charming, neighborhood restaurant. We go frequently for the food and the brick courtyard dining and enjoy the bluegrass music. The owners are often heard speaking Italian and service is relaxed and personal. I especially like the pizza and some of the pasta dishes (esp. cannelloni and ravioli) with house chianti.
(4)J C.
Little Italy is a generic, run-of-the-mill little Italian place. The food was decently good if uninspired, as was the service. Not so impressed by the atmosphere... a little Olive Garden, y'know? I mean, it's in the same plaza as a Winn-Dixie. They did make me a very strong tequila sunrise, however. I would give anywhere three stars for that. I would recommend Riccardo's over Little Italy, though -- if you aren't a lush. The food quality is about the same (decent), but Riccardo's kitschy atmosphere is a lot more fun.
(3)Rick P.
The food is nothing special, to say the least, and it seems like the place is always filthy. The last time I was there (which is the last time I will ever be there) we went for an early dinner. No one was there, yet they sat us at a table that was covered in crumbs. As we stared at the dirty table, shocked that this is where they would seat us, a small cockroach scrambled across the table. We got up and left, never ever to return.
