Under normal circumstances I'd give La Fiesta a 4, but I feel I need to help out the score after reading these reviews. I've lived in Tally now for 6 months and have been to 4 different mexican restaurants. The only one i've visited more than once is La Fiesta. It's not even close because we go back 2-3 times a month. I normally get the chicken tacos, and i'm okay with not receiving rice and beans (unlike some other reviewers) because they're so effing delicious. The guac is fantastic, and they offer 2 for 1 margaritas (i'm sure this doesn't matter to the guy that loves his tap water). In addition to their food and drinks, the deck is awesome.... fenced in with a lemon tree in the middle? It's 100 times better than the great view of Monroe you get at El Jalisco

This place is huge! Lot of space and high ceilings. Standard Mexican food and good margaritas. If you're with a group and looking to drink something delicious, get the Margarona. It's an enormous pitcher of margaritas with 2 Coronas added. It's $22 and meant to be shared among several people. The queso is good too. This place is good for groups because of its size.

There were a ton of cars outside of this place so I thought that maybe the reviews on Yelp were wrong. Unfortunately, they were dead on. The food was very disappointing. Chips and salsa are free and unlimited, but it's a good thing they're free! Tositos chips and salsa would have been an improvement. Neither the chips nor the salsa have any flavor. The lack of flavor is kind of a recurring theme here. For dinner, I got the taco, burrito, and enchilada combo. Although most combos at mexican restaurants come with rice and beans, this one does not. The burrito is just meat inside, with cheese and sauce on top. The taco is meat, cheese, lettuce, and a slice of tomato. Yes, you read that right...a slice of tomato, like you'd expect to see on a sandwich. Taco meat was about on par with Taco Bell beef. The sauce doesn't add much flavor to the Taco Bell beef in the burrito, and pouring salsa on it didn't help much either. It wasn't particularly bad, just very bland. Two stars for friendly service and tap water as good as any that I've had in Tallahassee.

Good-quality homemade reliable Mexican spot in Tallahassee. They'll make whatever you want, however you want.

Good food and good service, at a reasonable price. Better than some of the other restaurants that try and pass themselves off as Mexican in this town.

Lovely place, it never feels crowded even when it's full, and you're not overwhelmed with mariachi music cranked to prevent you from forgetting that you're at a Mexican restaurant. It's become one of my regular lunch places simply because I can listen to a podcast and relax away from work. I wouldn't have a particularly helpful review of the food: I'm always happy with just a few tacos. The tacos are good, though.

Just went last week with a group of friends. The service was good, but the food was to salty. I had the same problem when I picked up take out in December. Without a margarita to cut the salt it was overwhelming. This time my food was OK. They have a lot of 2 for 1 drink specials which are always nice

This was a nice Mexican place in tally, the service was great. I ordered the pollo loco and had to share it with my husband portion was large and you get a side plate of salad which was awesome. The bean dip and queso was good and they had this spicy red pepper sauce which was pretty amazing. I think it was red pepper atleast. It was extra spicy it was heart burn central, so we were pretty impressed. We love spicy food! They had red jalopenos that were straight from their garden and it made all the plates look amazing with all the colors. They were spicy too. I was pretty impressed with this place especially since we are from Texas and eat tex mex all the time.... Usually I dislike texmex esp the places in Texas but this was so flavorful and good and had decent vegetarian options for our friends and beans weren't meat and you can order other things beside spinach or cheese burritos !

Cool atmosphere, never have a problem with service or food. Food is seasoned really well and I like the margaritas.

Great atmosphere, especially in the back room where the painted murals add to the quaint setting. Margaritas are 2 for 1 and they don't have that sour aftertaste like other restaurants serve - very smooth. The fish tacos were full of flavor served with coleslaw and sliced mango. Yum!

La Fiesta... But not really Fiesta experience... Waiter are friendly and food is just OK. Large place... They have multiple areas of dinning area which is impressive. I ordered chicken Quesadilla which is not that much good. I didn't like the chicken in it. Most of the places they give grilled chicken in it but they have Pulled Chicken which is not that much good. Anyway I will visit this place again only when I have a mood of trying something new.

La fiesta has a very open atmosphere, nice food and a charismatic server staff. As far as Mexican restaurants go although it was not very authentic it was very tasty and the drinks were awesome. A good place to socialize with friends at a moderate price.

The Texas fajitas are really good and the Carne asana is amazing too!! The margaritas and beers are 2 for 1.

Mediocre food. My chicken fajita taco salad was very bland. Chips aren't that great. Salsa is good though. Good service. While it wasn't horrible, there are much better Mexican places in Tallahassee

Awesome Mexican food restaurant, great margaritas, and infused tequilas! They do different kinds in different seasons.

After moving here, and passing by for the past 7 months, I decided to come inside for a look, despite the depressing look of the front. GLAD I DID. My waitress was Ashley and has been there for over two years, she told me. Yes, there a couple of "not-smiling-faces" but for amazing food, I'll keep coming back. Grew up in So. Calif, and have to say this is as good or better. The owner comes from central Mexico and has used some authentic dishes, some using fresh coleslaw with sweet, ripe mangos. I had a great experience. Get on your burro and try it! P.S. GREAT flan too...

Coming from Houston, we were interested in finding some good Mexican food here in Tallahassee. La Fiesta is pretty solid. I recommend the enchiladas verdes.

I've been a patron of La Fiesta since their days on Capital Circle. While the food remains good to very good, in the last few years they seem to be staffed by the saddest looking waiters I've ever seen. By sad, I mean--sad. They all look like they're having the worst day of their life. No personality. A lot of "you're not my table so I'm just going to return your gaze with this sad expression; so sad that you are out of water and I'm not your waiter". Yeah, it's like that. I miss Hugo.

"Experienced better" -- That doesn't come even halfway near saying it all. "Experienced FARRR better!!" begins to. I'd been assured this was a stellar Mexican restaurant. I went in not expecting to be wowed (My standards are pretty high.), but expecting at least average. The server did not pay attention to the order, & when the food came 1/3 of it had to be requested again because it wasn't delivered. Two of the four beverages were wrong (regular Coke instead of Diet), the food was barely warm, & I had to get up & go to another table to get two additional sets of silverware since we were only given two sets for four people. The burritos were only average, & extremely bland. The tacos were OK, if you don't mind having to season extra heavily to get it to taste like anything. The beans tasted like they'd come straight out of a can; hardly any flavor at all. The worst, though, was reserved for "dessert." We ordered two fried ice creams, figuring at least *that* couldn't be too bad. Wrong thought. The waiter delivered one & walked away while I was asking about the other. "Fried" was a misnomer -- regular ice cream (not the hard frozen you'd use if you were going to put it in hot oil), & sprinkled with cork flakes. Not corn flake crumbs, mind you; corn flakes -- whole ones. The cashier asked me how dinner was & I told her that the main thing they had going for them was that I have a rule of eating at a place at least twice before deciding I don't like it. I very politely mentioned only half the things that were wrong, since I didn't want to seem like a grouch. She just looked at me, as though I were from a different planet. She didn't even offer to get the manager. That was the last straw for me. I make very few exceptions to my two-visit rule, but this was surely one of them.

Average Mexican at best. The margaritas are decently sized but the food is almost instantly forgettable.

My husband and I go to this place at least once a week. They have AMAZING specials and are always cheap. The atmosphere is great and there is always plenty of seating. The food is extremely good. The drink specials are good. The service is usually actually pretty quick, but it improved as we became regulars. Great location. LOVE this place!

Good place to pick up a fairly quick lunch. The salsa and chips are free flowing. The food is good (the cuts of mean for the fajitas aren't super, but they are still good) and the prices are reasonable. And the lunch size portions are generous.

Easy parking, very nice atmosphere complete with wall murals, lots of wood lined booth seating, and convenient location in the heart of the parkway district. Service was prompt and friendly and attentive. The salsa was pretty good, definitely not from the can. I didn't try the salsa verde yet. I ordered the veggie quesadilla, which came with a variety of vegetables, but they were definitely previously frozen. The presentation was very good too, with time being taken to arrange the plate symmetrically with guacamole and such in the middle. Food arrived promptly and when I finished, I was offered a to go cup along with my bill. Will definitely be back.

Finally! A decent Mexican restaurant in Tally worthy of being called Mexican! Great atmosphere, service, salsa and food. Pork carnitas were tender and flavorful. 2 for 1 daily drink specials, but this seems to be the norm in Tally. Highly recommend if you're looking for something other than "slop" Mexican!

The atmosphere was awesome, the service is great, but the food is okay. Very good salsa and queso dip but the food was okay. Its not the best Mexican food in town.

I have lived in Tallahassee for 7 years now and can't believe I haven't tried this place before now! The service is wonderful- very friendly staff! The food is the best Mexican I've had in Tallahassee, hands down. The chips are so light and the queso is amazing. Overall, the restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is great. This is definitely my new place!

Best Mexican in Tally. I've been here over a year and have been searching for good Mexican. My search is over. Great food, casual atmosphere. 2 for 1 beers every day. Highly recommend!

The restaurant was nice and huge with lots of parking. The waitress was very friendly. The food...not so good. The ranch dip they give you was super spicy. My tacos were soggy too. May try down the road just to give them another chance.

I've been going to La Fiesta since the 90's. Just went on Taco Tuesday. The food and service were excellent as always! And the owner is one of the coolest & nicest people you ever want to meet!

This place deserves 5 stars when compared to other Tex-Mex food options in Tallahassee. The restaurant is very nice inside and reminds me of the Southwest (could be the giant fireplace in the middle). I ordered a margarita, which was 2 for 1, and it had good flavor. They certainly don't over pour the tequila, but it's also it didn't lack alcohol, which is what I would've expected on a 2-for-1 deal. I ordered the carnitas (house specialty), and they were delicious. The rice, beans, tortilla, carnitas, pico de gallo - everything was great. Our server was also very attentive, friendly, and patient with my friends (who were grumpy and rude after a hard day). Did I mention their salsa? Also delicious. This is my new go-to for Southwestern cuisine.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
