The food here is better and more authentic than any other Mexican fare around Tallahassee. Food is about same price as Moes right down the street. Moes is always more crowded just because of the brand, but folks should definitely be giving this place a try.

This place is AWESOME!!!! My family and I moved here from Chicago, where the mexican restaurants are authentic and amazing....we have been bitterly disappointed by the mexican food restaurants here...except for one. But Echalee does it RIGHT! Amazing food!!!

I just finished a very tasty dinner at Echalee Mexican Grill! I would recommend everyone in Tallahassee give this place a try. Yes, the food is fast, but everything tastes so fresh in comparison to other similar Mexican joints around town. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and a beer (Modelo Especial, my fave). The quesadilla came with a salad of sorts on the side as well as a decent serving of guacamole. The condiment bar features some tasty items (I got a small container of their salsa verde and an avocado-based sauce that was really delicious). The chicken on the quesadilla was perfectly seasoned. I find that the chicken at Moe's and Chipotle tastes the same (somewhat bland), but the chicken here is more nuanced with its flavoring (there was a sweet tinge of something in the spice mixture which complimented the flavor of the chicken nicely). Overall, my first visit earned them five stars!! Don't listen to the naysayers, and please give Echalee a try! It's good to support local businesses. I look forward to my next visit!

If you want a taco but you and refuse to eat Taco Bell but Chipotle and Moe's are closed, this would be when you eat here. It's fast food without a drive thru. Now this is the difference between myself and the person that parties that would give them 5 stars; it's open late, it's noisy, and it's on the strip. So whenever your done drinking and dancing and need to sober up for the low, this would be a great place to go. Otherwise, just forfeit the taco and go to sleep.

Ordered steak quesadilla 5 hours before closing and the guy said they ran out. I asked if he can make more and he said no. Also ran out of guacamole!!! The restaurant's A/C must have been programmed to 85 degrees, because it felt like an oven. The two guys working were impolite and dying for us to leave... I ended up ordering chicken tacos. The chicken had decent taste, but all the toppings were bland (pico de gallo, cilantro, etc) I'd rather go to Cantina where everything is fresh and the employees are friendlier.

Really, really, REALLY good Mexican fast-food operation that I certainly prefer to Moe's (not bad at all, incidentally) or Chipotle (never ONCE have I been satisfied there). Sauce station rivals Moe's - and Jarritos are served here. The place smacks of Mexican ownership which I take to mean "greater sense of what authenticity could play best with a gringo-ish patronage" Wife claims her salad was much better than what she'd get at the other two places. I had the carne Asada sandwich which was very good. This location is clutch for it to become a significant money-maker. A regular "Pollos Hermanos" distributing the goods.

Really authentic food with a cool environment. Not happy that they use Styrofoam but other than that they are great. A good location that is close to campus and prices that compete with Moe's and Chiptole.

This business is now where Mama Goldberg's used to be. We were greeted at the door, and we ordered. It is a similar setup to Chipotle, but the taste is much different. Echalee's tastes more authentic and homemade. We tried the chicken quesadillas and had the option between seasoned/ marinated chicken or a more simpler chicken which was nice. Two types or rice and beans as well. The cheese on the quesadillas is delicious and plentiful, and later they slightly press the quesadillas and toast them so the cheese is melted. The ingredients tasted fresh. Both the tortillas and the chips were very good! They offer Tamarind, Horchata, and Jamaica juices which as authentic Mexican drinks!! The decor is simple, with authentic signs in Spanish of famous brands. As we were leaving they thanked us and said goodbye. Overall, I liked it! I think it's a great lunch spot and the customer service is nice. They seem proud of their product and how they always have fresh ingredients.

I'm from California and for those of you who haven't been there it is the mecca for good Mexican food (aside from going to Mexico of course). Most of the Mexican Restaurants in town are glorified Taco Bells and while many people in town really like Chipotle as their Mexican food place of choice I challenge you to try this place and see if you'll go back to the other place ever again. Reasons why this place is better: 1. Corn tortillas-yes people real tacos are made with corn tortillas and this place has them. Oh and if you are avoiding gluten in your diet then corn tortillas will work. 2. Meats-they have a larger selection (i.e. steak, barbacoa, fish, chorizo+potato, pastor (bbq pork). One other note, they don't weigh the amount of meat portions on your food unlike the other place that mainly fill your burrito or bowl full of rice and beans. 3. Condiments-Guacamole or sour cream sure thing, how much more for that...nada. Yes those "upgrades" are included in your meal ticket (as it should be at all mexican restaurants). 4. Service-If you prefer being treated like cattle and placed in a line only to finally get your food and find limited seating in a super noisy place then this is not the place for you. These guys are fast and there is always seating. Oh yeah, they also have a pretty good salsa bar too. 5. Taco Tuesday-Tacos are $1 on tuesdays after 5pm. Seriously the BEST bargain in town for eating out on Tuesday hands down. There you have it folks, don't believe me in anything mentioned here then by all means go give them a try and comment on anything I said was wrong. P.S. their quesadillas are pretty damn big so come prepared with an appetite

This place is pretty authentic. They are set up like an assembly line, like Chipotle. They have a lot of different meats to choose from. They have an awesome salsa bar, although they are a little on the spicy side (even the least spicy). They also have a bunch of Mexicans drinks to choose from. I look forward to coming back!

We went there for lunch on Saturday. The staff couldn't have been any friendlier, and the food was great. The whole roasted jalepenos from their salsa bar sealed the deal. We'll be back -- soon.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
