I was raised in southern cooking and this place rocks! It has newly reopened having been housed inside of a meat market for years. They have a rotating menu and today is Tuesday. Hamburger steaks with homemade onion gravy, jerk chicken, oxtails, chicken and dumplings, curried goat and fried chicken. Oh yes, and sausage with onions and peppers. My selection included hamburger steak, yellow rice and gravy, fried okra (yummy), black eye peas and hoe cake (fried corn bread). I sure miss hoe cake. This one was light and fluffy so they did add flour to it. Everything was just as my Grandmother would have prepared. Good thing I had 1/2 and 1/2 tea! Man, this is good. Like another reviewer said - check your pretenses at the door. This is down home country served with a smile! Radiant is one of the servers and everyplace needs an ambassador like her! Can't wait to come back.

The first thing I notice at Earley's new place (for a LONG time, Earley's was about 1/8 mile south) is how full the parking lot is. Abutting Dog et Al, Earley's does what it can to contain the cars without spilling over. The people love Earley's and it shows before you even walk in. The second thing you notice is that no matter how long the line inside (yes, it's counter service), the people in line are generally looking at the menu board as well as the various meats for them to choose from. Earley's has a pretense-detector affixed to each entrance. While diners can prance in sporting their "foodie regalia", it is strongly encouraged to simply relax and return to "I'm just people" roots in order to best appreciate the experience, if not just the meal. Earley's is where you come for what is presented as "Savannah Style" cooking. Breakfast offers a broad range of proteins (from catfish to steak, passing through all the usual suspect meats including house made whole-link sausages), sides and specialties. Lunch specials vary daily - see the board. Even Vegans/vegetarians are welcome (e.g., my wife!) to have veggie plates. I don't talk about decor, but the place is very nicely appointed. The wood slates that are increasingly seen in modern restaurants are there - the long dining table is sharp - the 1/2 barrel lampshades fit perfectly - the old-school pictures of the former Earley's Kitchen on the wall - the bay windows overlooking Interstate Fire Systems across S. Monroe... Everything sums up to make Earley's a uniquely TLH spot to visit. I love it. I took some pictures with my "grown up camera" that I'll load up when I return to the hacienda...

Very disappointed we went this morning for breakfast (after we called to verify that they were still serving breakfast). Breakfast is over at 11:00am we get there a little after 10:00 am and the food was scarce and what they did have was burnt and old. I'm all about presentation. I've seen better from Early's. My husband and I decided to leave when we realize they weren't bringing out any fresh food.

Love their breakfast. Twice a week I get my breakfast plate before heading to work. Earleys allows you to-go options so it's convenient. especially when you only have a 30min lunch break! Less fast food and more great food.

The food was too bland for my taste! The cabbage need more spice, the chicken needed more of a kick, it didn't live up to My Aspectation as a soul food Resturant

Well, I was looking for more and was a little disappointed... Very southern... Very fat and greasy... Not healthy at all...so if you are into "old-time southern cooking" this is for you... Only one green vegetable, cooked cabbage..definitely not heart healthy...but it is local cuisine ...lol with my daughter and grandson... They love the place.......
