Sadly, not a good experience. I'm not a big steak person but tried their "special". it was everything but. a bad choice. Very rubbery and lots of fat. Service was just as bad. Too bad.

Never again! Stay away! I dont see future for this place! Awfull slow service and flavorless dry meat! There are better less expensiver around!

Very pleased with the food and service! Loved the buffalo shrimp starter! The yeast rolls are to die for! Thrilled that they not only allow pets on patio but love them and everyone has welcomed them and came out and told us their dog stories. We wish this place was in Mobile where we live so we could enjoy often. The only reason for a 4 star is that it would be so nice if they had the standing portable heaters on the patio. Then it would be 5 star all the way!

Fun, kitschy-themed decor. Great food and big portions for the price. We had the bacon BBQ burger and the chicken fajitas on our first visit - Yum!

I am a fan of Cody's. West Tampa, Palm Harbor, and Wesley Chapel, never a bad meal or experience. This location not so good. It took the waiter 7 minutes to help me. Not too bad I guess . He then serves me draft beer in a warm glass, yuck. Food was good, not great.

Even though I figured it was a chain, I had never heard of Cody's before and gave it a try. I want to stress before getting into detail that it's not bad at all; it's just not particularly good. As is readily apparent from all of the traffic signs and license plates on the exterior walls, this is the kind of place that puts far too much effort into being casual. I thought it was interesting to have a small bucket of peanuts on every table to snack on while waiting for food, but wasn't sure what I was supposed to do with the shells. Out of everything else already on the table, a small cup or tray was absent. I then saw that shells littered the floor. I hadn't felt or heard any crunching as I was led to my table, but I still thought a cup would have been the perfect inclusion on the table. My burger was fine, but it was made more with the goal of cramming as much as possible between two buns than of making something that doesn't fall apart in your hands. If I was with someone that wanted to eat here, I'd have no objection at all, but I won't go back on my own.

Want LUKEWARM ribs served with cold veggies??? Dine here! (never again!) I had to remind the waitress 3 times to bring my root beer ... and then it came without a glass. Clearly, the management has NO CLUE how to motivate employees in any part of the restaurant to do their job. While I appreciated the manager's repeated apologies and he did pick up the tab, it was a bit overboard to want to give me a $20 gift certificate on top of it because, as he said "I want to EARN back your business." Try "BUY" back my business which is why I rejected the gift and will never, repeat NEVER return to Codys.

We stopped in today, yes sever was really busy but Heather was really attentive to our needs and went out of her way not to let us down. Food was good and both of our steaks were prepared correctly, which most places can't cook well done without making it into charcoal, and my medium was juicy with a good flavor. Will return and save room for dessert next time.

We were visiting my sister and she recommended this restaurant as she had a positive experience before. The waitress was very nice but appeared to be overwhelmed. The food took about 45 minutes to come out and the day's special, the fajitas, were burned. If I were a local, I wouldn't return to this restaurant.

"Horrible service ! At least my sixth visit and I keep hoping it 'll get better! It hasn't ! Takes forever to get a server and a full 25 minutes on a Tues night to get a salad before dinner! Good grief."

I really wish I'd paid more attention in English so I could better describe what a miserable lunch we had. Our waitress, Jordyn, took our order and then ignored our table completely. Eventually we asked another waitress to flag her down and get our salads. Nothing. Then we tried asking the manager, Eric,, to take care of it. Nothing. It took about 40 minutes of diligent negotiating but eventually we got them, after our potato and before their second attempt at cooking our crummy steaks. The food? Garbage. The service? Merely rumors. This may be the most poorly run restaurant in Tallahassee, but nobody can accuse them of false advertising. I'll bet "original roadhouses" were JUST like this, with halfwit servers and managers who lurked in the shadows like they were in witness protection. A slow, hideous dining experience punctuated by a 20 minute wait for our change (thanks again Jordyn!). It sickens me that I have to give them even one star, as though they did something right. No, my star is awarded in the same spirit that a kindergarten teacher gives one to a child who manages to go the entire afternoon without crapping himself.

Today was my first time eating at Cody's. Cody's is fairly new to the area so a few friends and I decided to give them a try. Highly disappointed! When we walked in it was fairly empty so we were immediately shown to our booth. After being seated, an extended amount of time had passed before we had to request a waiter. The waiter came to take our drink & food orders simultaneously as we had already decided on our meals. While ordering, my friend had requested that the waitress check to see if the restaurant had brown sugar (which would determine his choice of side order). The waitress never returned with an answer and when the food came my friend ended-up with an unwanted side. None of our food was hot (it was merely lukewarm) and we all noticed all of our food was a bit dry (ribs/mashed potatoes, fried garlic shrimp/sweet potato and my pulled pork sandwich). We made the waitress aware of our dissatisfaction and she sent a manager over. The manager was very apologetic and adjusted the ticket accordingly for my friend's ribs. It's highly likely that we will not be visiting Cody's in the future.

I wasn't impressed. We try the onion rings everywhere we go and these did not rank in our top 10 that is for sure. Way too big and too much breading. One is PLENTY for an appetizer. The food was not terrible, but it wasn't great. Seasoning seemed a little bland. It did take a while for service but I was in good company so that didn't bother me a whole lot. We both agreed we would probably not choose Cody's for a future trip.

I've been to this location several times and each time I wonder why I came back. The past two times service has been slacking. The drinks were wrong but that is just a mistake. We placed our order and waited - and waited. When the salads finally came out the food immediately followed. I mentioned that we just got our salads and the response was "oh I have no control over that!" Timing was off clearly. The waitress had to be hunted down to refill drinks and she never asked if we needed anything. The fish with the fish and chips was a large piece of white fish was so overdone that I would have been embarrassed to serve it. We sent it back and the manager did bring another right away. I ordered a hamburger and it is a good thing they grilled the bottom of the bun because the top was still frozen!! I did not eat the bun but the burger was overcooked but edible. Pass on the $12 steak salad as well. The steak was tough, overdone and nothing special. If you are looking for steaks or a reasonable lunch go down the street to Texas Roadhouse. I am a good tipper because I know how hard the work can be but today was 10% and that was still too much!

Servers are always friendly and the food is good. I recommend the sirloin. It's very similar to a Logan's or Texas Roadhouse but is a good local alternative.

I come here whenever I am in town! This place has great food, service and atmosphere. Steak is seasoned perfectly and cooked to perfection.

I remember this location being built about a year ago, so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try today for lunch. It wasn't very busy around lunch time, but there seemed to be a decent crowd in the bar area so we requested to be seated at one of the booths in there. This was definitely a good choice on our part, because while the bar was very social, the rest of the restaurant was very quiet. The whole interior decor sold us from the start. They have an extensive collection of vintage collectibles that cover the walls from top to bottom. Even the bathrooms were true to theme. After reading the other reviews for Cody's I was pleasantly surprised with my experience. With their 2 for 1 drink specials and their lunch deals, it was a great value. I ordered the Half Rack of the Baby Back Ribs, which were very tasty. They weren't the best ribs i've ever had, but I wasn't disappointed. We also each had their house salad and their sweet bread rolls with our meals. Service wise, our waitress was very helpful and our meal was out in a timely fashion. I'd have to say, I definitely see us returning here in the future.

I should have trusted the reviews on this one. I treated 3 out of town associates to dinner and arrived early. It was a great night so I sat on the patio, First mistake. There are no servers that work on the patio. I was there 15 minutes before having to go to the bar and order a drink. That set the tone for the whole night, even though I was told we would have a server to take care of us. We learned that the bartender was the only one for this area and he had to take care of all drinks for other servers and bar patrons, so in his defense it was difficult. We had to go up and ask for everything, to order, utensils, drink reorders, even our check. The food was OK, but not good enough to make me return with this type of service, or lack of. All 4 of us work in a customer service industry and this was just very dissappointing.

My first experience here. Seated right away. Server was unfamiliar with the menu. Offered a steak special for lunch only available on Sunday's. It took 45 mins. to get out food. Our server seemed swamped as a female server was visiting for 35 mins. with the people at table next to us. This put extra pressure on him we think. Unsweet tea tasted watered down. When the food finally came it was good. However I don't care for blue cheese and the buffalo chicken wrap had plenty in it. The sweet potato fries were very good and hot. A guy at bar got up and left (government employee) as his food didn't make it on time for him to get back to work. In a hurry, better go somewhere else.
(3)Phillip W.
Crappy service, crappy food, and utter chaos in the restaurant, as you have to yell to your server for them to hear you. Yet everytime I drive by the joint, the parking lot is packed. Just proves that the sheep will go anywhere that's new and different. Granted, Cody's doesn't stand out from the 4 or 5 other chain restaurants in town that sell the same tired fare. But I guess there are enough rednecks in Tallahassee that like looking at old license plates on the wall to make this place work. That's ok, I'm giving some other poor fool my table. Have at it!
(1)Danielle E.
Enjoyed my steak but the mashed potatoes were SO disappointing! They were INSTANT mashed potatoes straight out of the microwave!! So bad that I could not eat them! Then they charge $5 for kids Mac and Cheese, which was clearly the instant Kraft mac and cheese!
(2)Jamieleigh W.
Got a French onion soup and quesadilla. I asked for a cheese quesadilla and it had more tomatoes and green chilles than cheese... The outside was a bit scorched. The soup was pretty good though, but I like ale house's better. I wouldn't return. All the waitresses and hostesses were hanging out in the front doing nothing but talking and pointing at each other on who would seat us. At least gather where customers aren't so they don't hope you'll take time from gossiping to help them...

Cody's Original Roadhouse is a Florida chain with twelve other locations in our sunny state. They offer classic roadhouse food, like steaks, burgers, ribs, bbq, chicken, seafood, salads, soups and much, much more. The building (interior/exterior) has a nice retro feel with old street signs, ad signs, rims and other funky decor. The service I experienced on my visit was very good, even if they did overcook my steak. I'm letting it slide since they opened less than a week ago and they're still working out all the kinks. It's definitely wroth a try and they would appear to have good drink specials during happy hour. I ordered a 16oz bone-in NY strip with a baked potato, bottomless salad with made from scratch ranch dressing and yeast rolls with cinnamon sugar butter. It was delicious.

The place has beautiful decor. The food was great. I had the beef brisket in bbq/cola sauce, it was AWESOME! They serve big portions of food. We were welcomed right away, seated right away. The time to get the food was decent, and the salad/bread was good. The cinnamon butter for the bread was amazing! The service at the table could have been a little better, often we didn't have something to drink & needed a refill, for me that is something I can not stand, especially when the place was not full.

Good service, good food, and good prices/specials. For an appetizer, our table ordered the full stack of onion rings and the fried mushrooms. The mushrooms were good, but the onion rings were great! I had the 10 oz rib eye special for an entree, which was good but not great. But to be fair, it was 12.99 for the steak, a side, bottomless salad, and yeast rolls. Well worth the price. The Cody's Sweet Vidalia Onion sauce added some nice flavor as well. I know, I know, never ruin a great steak with steak sauce, but remember... it was good not great. Pair everything with good happy hour specials and friendly service, and I'll be back for seconds. As a side note, they offer BOGO fajitas on Wednesdays. Sounds good to me!

First visit and it was great. Service was prompt, the fried pickles were the best we've ever had, and the catfish was great. We'll stop again when we're in the area.

We came expecting the worst after reading the other reviews. The four of us decided we just had to check this out for ourselves at an eat dinner. Pleasant surprise they have early bird special menus until 6:00 PM. We had a rasa t waitress and we did not have to wait for our food. I was impressed with the bottomless salad bowl. It was crisp cold and a large salad bowl. We did not have to ask for more. I had the half rack of ribs. It was moist but not really flavorful however the mixed roast vegetables I ordered with it were perfect. The other 3 in our group all chose the pulled pork sandwich. It was a little on the dry side 2 of us declared. The third one in our party loved it. Loved the decor and the bucket of peanuts on each table. Yep we may return sometime.

This was my second time here. I wasn't overly impressed with my first time at lunch. I wasn't overly impressed with my second time either. The first time was on a lunch break and I had a club sandwich. I wasted most of my hour break waiting for what was pretty much a turkey sandwich. There's no sweetener on the table so when you ask for it they bring you a couple of packets. I decided to bring my girlfriend with me the second time. The waitress took her tea to refill it and when she returned she had rolls and the salad my girlfriend ordered. No tea. She ran off and we had no silverware or plates for the rolls. We asked for silverware and when she came back with it, she then realized she forgot the tea. This is no reflection on her personality because she was really nice. I had a BBQ bacon burger which didn't have BBQ sauce on it from what I could find. I added A1 sauce to it to give it something. My girlfriend got a turkey burger. She doesn't eat cheese on her sandwiches and it didn't mention it on the menu but the sandwich came with cheese on it. The rolls are good and her salad was good. The decor is pretty cool and there's a lot on the walls but other than that, this place is completely average. I probably won't return if I can help it.
(2)Kenneth M.
Cheese fries are huge and good! The steak we had was tender but flavorless. The mahi mahi was ehhh. The chocolate cake was very good! I hope the mediocre food is not common, because the place looks really cool.

I'll kick this one off with an important Caveat to the ensuing story: The server was VERY nice, attentive and accommodating. I didn't bother including photos for this one - I think you'll get the picture without them. Over two years ago, we made a solemn pact to not return. For me, the issue at hand was an atrociously over-salted "French Onion Soup". Back then, I had even given three chances - believing I might have been the one with over-sensitivity issues OR perhaps that a wrong batch (or two) had made it through the surely-rigorous Culinary QC process Cody's would have. It wasn't just the soup, mind you. It was a general malaise that seemed to exist on each of the adult plates. It was as though the specialties were the line-up on the kiddie menu and the non-kiddie items were an exploratory effort at a potential future menu. (I know this all sounds mean-spirited. I'm only the messenger here of an existing truth that needs telling). So... THIS time around, I knew to steer clear of the French Onion Soup. We ordered (party of six) and waited, and waited, and waited. (It was a Sunday afternoon and there were hardly any other diners in the place). We waited so long that, after an undetermined period of time, I started my timer - and it got up to 22 minutes (I estimate 15 minutes prior to me timing it). Interestingly, the manager came a few minutes before the food came, and asked us how everything was so far. Fascinating. ("everything" was two unsweet teas, one Arnold Palmer, and three ice waters...). The meal finally came - a three-combo fajitas meal, a Cody's Roadhouse Salad, a veggie-burger (I think), steak-on-a-stick, mac n' cheese, and a corn dog. Nothing stood out. it appeared as though the cause of the delay was a re-do on two of the dishes (three-combo fajitas AND the roadhouse salad) because they appeared to have been under hot lamps for a good long time (that would make sense, if they needed to redo something). The fajita meats were arranged over exceptionally limp and drowning-in-grease peppers, onions, etc... the roadhouse salad was characterized as "without flavor" and if I'm right about the veggie burger, then I know it was chalked up as quite salty! I'm simply not a fan of Cody's - although, to reiterate, our server was great!

Disguisting. Prime rib that tasted like chef boyardee. Ranch that was claimed to be homemade was disguisting. The back skin or silver skin on the ribs were uneatable. Fries werent done. Just disguisting. Bathrooms were filthy and need a thouragh cleaning.... Wont go back. As my husband said, "only good thing was the cold drinks"
(1)Iris D.
I consider myself a connoisseur of good meat. My father raised livestock and we butchered our own. We were privy to some of the best cuts of grass fed beef year round. While I have to admit, the steak wasn't the best nor close to perfect, it was pretty good and cooked to my liking. however, two things on the menu make the trip to this place more than worth while: The Shrimp and the KEY LIME PIE. The latter is probably the best I have ever tasted. This pie brought back (surprisingly) memories of the Old Lazarus Department Store cheesecake, which is arguably the best ever. Then, there is the smooth, refreshing overtones of citrus. It could have used a small drop of whipped cream, it was perfect naked and I cannot wait until I have the opportunity to eat it again. It's a culinary dream come true. If you're in the mood for the best dessert, this is a great option for your taste buds. The meal will satisfy, but the Key Lime Pie will place you directly in heaven.

Very good service and you get a lot of food. Love that the salad comes in a big bowl and is bottomless. Awesome yeast rolls with cinnamon butter that they'll replinish as much as you'd like. I had the fried catfish which had a different batter than I'm used to but it was a very nice change. Great hush puppies. Tonight was kids eat free which was a great deal. The kids meals come with a very large salad. Oh yeah, all you can eat peanuts as well. Very similar to Texas Roadhouse. I'm not sure which one I like better. The salad is certainly a big plus here. The only thing I didn't like was there was no music playing and you could hear a strange loud sound that sounded like someone speaking over a loud speaker. It went on and on and on and none of us could figure it out until my daughter came back from the bathroom and said there was some guy being filmed and this loud talking was coming from there. It sounded like a guy doing maybe a live call in TV show? Not crazy about being subjected to that and missing out on the music. I guess it wasn't too bad though. It wouldn't keep me from going back.
(4)Scott B.
Great food, great service, VERY dog friendly on the patio outside. Just what the Dr ordered when in town for the dog show. If we lived in Tallahassee, this would be a regular spot for us. Not sure what happened for those who posted negative reviews, but after our visit last night and tonight, we will be back any time we find ourselves in Tallahassee.
(5)Michele K.
This is one of our favorite places! We came here shortly after moving here last year and now feel like part of the family whether stopping by for lunch or dinner. I had the best steak ever just last week! The staff and management are all friendly and professional, making sure we have a great experience. So many people only post their "problems", I've never had ONE! Cody's will continue to be our "go to" place!
(5)Jon K.
Top 5 reasons you should avoid this place: 5. The service for food is slow. It doesn't matter if you only order a glass of water with no ice. You're committing at least 40 minutes of your life to this restaurant. 4. They will be out of at least one item on the menu, even when opening for lunch. 3. The price to food ratio doesn't make sense. Small portions across the board. Keep in mind I'm aware of how Americans are used to large servings, but these are small enough so that even a visiting European might want to grab a snack afterward. 2. Those peanuts. They're all over the place! Sure, it's supposed to be like a barn-like atmosphere where anything goes. All the "cool" steak houses are doing it, right? Throwing peanuts all over the place is like putting out a welcome mat for rodents. I'm not saying I've seen one, but if I did see one... I wouldn't be surprised. 1.No one knows what's going on. I'm not sure if this is a communication break down or just a lack of training. The problem starts with the hostesses. Will they be at the podium or not? Flip a coin. It continues to the server, who may or may not visit the table more than one. It carries on to the kitchen which has trouble expediting orders. They need to give themselves a service audit.
