My wife and I have been frequent flyers of Canopy Road (on Monroe) for some time now. It's a go-to place, for us (and countless others, as any saturday morning's stupendous wait-line will attest) and will continue to be so. We were ready for this location to "almost be as awesome" as the original location. We can say that it's on the same level. Quality has not been sacrificed, and both front and back-of-the-house staff brings their A-game. For breakfast, expect the usual suspects - and then some. The "and then some"s are as follow: (for starters, the menu is laid out more intuitively and creatively than, IMHO, many other breakfast lunch places). Under handhelds - the Morning Monte Cristo is a great adaptation of the lunch version. (some of you may already know that a Monte Cristo is just the U.S. version of the early 20th century sandwich known as the "Croque Monsieur" - but I digress). This baby is as awesome as it sounds, and with the scrambled eggs inserted, along with the bread transformed into the transformative "French Toast" - you are suddenly facing a "top of the mountain" experience of saga-esque proportions. So - The Morning Monte Cristo is good. There are various ingenious creations under the Omelette section -just google the menu, you'll see what I mean. The Skillets deliver a solid 1-2. I'm particular to "The Roger" (add jalapenos). That's what I had today (see associated video.). Wife often has difficulties choosing between the Bananas Foster French Toast and the Banana Split Waffle. (to paraphrase PINK, "this stuff's banana! B A N A N A S!") I'm not a pancake guy - but I often travel amongst pancake feeders, so I see satisfaction at the table because of the pancakes - therefore they are good too. Anyway - today's visit was no different than any other. Swift and courteous staff attention - speedy order completion - and no mistakes. Nice... real nice...

This was my first trip to Canopy Road Cafe and it was a very good experience. Stopped in for lunch. Purchased an omelet (which comes with hashbrowns and toast) while my fiance got the house salad. Everything was delicious and the portions were larger than expected. The servers were very polite and very helpful. The only criticism on our visit was that it was a little too hot inside the restaurant and the back room felt a little cramped; however, neither of these things affected us enough to keep us from having a good experience.

We have eaten at Canopy Road locations on North Monroe and on NE Capital Circle. We met a good friend here for brunch on the worst weekend possible, the day all the college students came back. However, we were seated faster than we would have been at The Egg or Bada Bean. I ordered a short stack of pancakes with eggs and bacon. My guy had a omelette, and my GF had a power wrap. I ordered coffee with my breakfast, and for the third or fourth time in a six-month period, I got a watery, weak cup of coffee. This was the case at the North Monroe location as well. They just could not seem to make a good cup of coffee or keep plain creamer on the tables. I skipped the refills because it was criminal to water down Lucky Goat coffee in that manner, and it appears to be a pattern. My pancakes were large, fluffy and perfectly cooked. The bacon was also perfectly cooked and crisp, and the eggs were cooked to my specifications. Overall, we were all pleased with our meals, service was generally good for an incredibly crowded restaurant and busy day. I just need to stop ordering coffee at breakfast.

This location feels a little cleaner and less cramped. The food is mediocre. I ordered the tofu scramble and the tofu is hardly seasoned at all. The entire dish was pretty bland in general. My husband ordered the Skeeter and the chicken fried steak on that dish was similar to what you would get at a grade school hot lunch bar. It wasn't bad, but again, not very impressive. One of our friends ordered the captain crunch french toast and no one could tell it was breaded with captain crunch cereal. It was fairly ordinary french toast. It tasted good, but again, fairly standard french toast. Our other friend ordered the Floridian French Toast and that was probably one of the better meals. Exactly how it was described and represented on the menu.

Family of three adults had a late weekday breakfast here. Good menu variety. Very tasty food. Super friendly helpful waitstaff. Food came out fast and hot. A little pricey for breakfast- meal came to $50 (incl tip) for the three of us- French toast, pancakes, eggs, bacon, grits, coffee, and tea. That's the only reason for the slightly lower rating.

Good breakfast spot with good food. We ordered the cap n crunch French toast, not as good as blue moon cafe in Baltimore, but tasty. Loved the combination with the fruit! We also had the chicken and waffles (not as crisp as I would have liked). Also had eggs and ham. Good. Not the best breakfast I've had, but this place is super duper affordable! Having poached eggs would have pushed them to 4 stars.

This place is exactly what I was looking for in a breakfast/brunch spot. Local, down home cooking but still with an adventurous flair. We had the Sweet Potato Pancakes, which were delicious and we also had one of their many skillets with corned beef hash and home fries. The home fries were the best I have ever had! Perfectly crispy and well seasoned. The staff was friendly, even on a very busy morning and even though it's a small spot, the atmosphere was pretty laid back and relaxed. Parking might be a challenge and there could be a wait, but as long as you are prepared for those setbacks, you will be fine. There are many more things on the menu I look forward to trying. Highly recommended!

Great Food, good prices, extensive menus and excellent wait staff. Smaller resturant. Definitely will return,

Food was very good, however the bacon was definitely not cooked to order. Also the service could have been better. He asked us how everything tasted literally 10 secs after we received our food, and never came back after that.

My husband and I visited this location for the second time today. We ordered the Greek Omelet with a side of bacon. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. Our server, Dylan, was very attentive with coffee refills and coming back to check on us. We will return.

Two very interesting pancakes were tried and two very interesting pancakes were very loved by us - the sweet potato and the Elvis. Just do it. Seriously. Especially if you like sweet potatoes, pecans, bananas, peanut butter, and bacon. I personally tried the Biscuits and Gravy, which was also served with 2 eggs and a choice of meat. I opted for my eggs to be scrambled and the meat to be bacon. Bacon was good - they didn't skimp on this. The scrambled eggs, however, was...not exactly how scrambled eggs should ideally be. I likened it to when I make my lazy scrambled eggs at home. It was flat and severely under-seasoned. My dining partners actually said that my lazy scrambled eggs at least tastes better. Hah! Fortunately, the Biscuits and Gravy was actually REALLY good. There was a great pepper-iness to the gravy that I appreciated, and the biscuits were of the appropriate consistency and flavor - just the right amount of butter. I would not hesitate to return the next time I'm in Tallahassee and am looking forward to trying their other dishes. Perhaps even try the other location.

Nice selection and fresh ingredients. Quality food and reasonable prices. It gets busy so go during "off" times if you're not into waiting or crowds. Don't complain about a wait at 12pm on a Sunday! ;) really loved the sweet potato pancakes, corned beef hash and grits! Give them a chance!

So, so food and service. Only thing we would order again if we ever came back would be the crepes.

Love this place! Tons of tasty options, friendly staff, and a local, mom-and-pop feel.

What do a Sweet Potato and Elvis have in common? They are both life-changing pancakes that you can order from the Canopy Road Cafe. The Sweet Potato Pancakes are topped with chopped pecans, praline sauce, and whipped cream. It sounds weird but if you have a sweet tooth you will be in heaven. I enjoyed the Elvis Pancake just as much, which has within the batter peanut butter, banana, and crumbled bacon. Gotta love the sweet and salty combination. Others in my group enjoyed their breakfast, too. The chicken and biscuits and traditional breakfast were good. The scrambled eggs were rather disappointing though. It was as though they were just swished around in the pan and cooked without much effort. Our server was friendly and extremely prompt. This location can get busy on the weekends. So either plan on coming early or visit during the week. I can't wait for our return visit to this diner.

Just ate here for the first time. Server said they have been open here for 2 months. I had been to their N. Monroe location many times for their sweet potato pancakes. I had a set breakfast this time, but as far as I can tell they have the same menu here. This adds a decently priced breakfast/lunch option on capital circle ne!

Great sweet potato pancakes. They also have a lot of great wraps for breakfast. Make sure to get there early on the weekends otherwise you will be waiting. It is smaller inside and the can only move so fast.

Just left CRC on Capital Circle. Our party of three ordered breakfast. The building is small but the atmosphere is nice and the restaurant was clean. The place was very busy today and our food took a while to come out but that is understandable. Unfortunately our server was not the greatest. The table next to us were seated and ordered after us, but they received their food first. I simply asked our waiter why they received their food first. The waiter stuttered and gave some lame excuse about the type of food ordered, I told him that's okay don't worry about it but he could tell that I was upset. When the waiter returned with the checks for all of his tables he said something nice to everyone handed in their tickets asked them how they were doing, when he passed our table he dropped the ticket and didn't say anything, my husband wanted to tell him that his order was not complete but didn't have a chance. I asked for the manager and the manager came back with the rest of my husband's order he listened to my concerns and he was genuinely upset that we were treated this way. The manager is John and he handled are concerns with a customer service attitude and that's the reason why CRC gets a 5. Everything was great except for the server's attitude and the manager made up for the bad service 100%. Thank you John and the rest of the staff who provided great service and would never single out a table of customers and be rude on purpose.

Discovered this cafe when in was looking for a late breakfast last week. Based on your reviews I decided to give it a try. It can be hard to locate, and I understand that it is crowded on weekends. I ordered the vegan scramble along with grits rather than the potatoes or toast. The serving was tasty and large. I thought I would certainly need a carry out box for leftovers, but I ate it all. The scramble was made with tofu, spinach and other vegetables. They also provide a vegetarian sugar which I will try next time. Great option for those of us who are veggies. These options are not available at the breakfast chains. Good atmosphere. I will go again.

Would be five stars if they figureed out how to turn the AC on and their cooks didn't cross contaminate the food. Found a green pepper in our pancakes.... wasn't expecting that. Other than that service was fast and food was good.

Food was good but service was the worst! First, I had to flag the hostess down to put my name on the list, as did everyone else after none of the other staff would make eye contact, say hello, or even acknowledge our existence. Second, the scrambled eggs and and bacon obviously sit under a heat lamp as my wife's, mine and the 4 top behind us were all served them cold. Maybe the manager decided to take a busy Saturday off, but this could have all been better had someone who cared been watching the place.

If you were pondering the sweet potato pancakes or the Cap'n Crunch French toast, order the sweet potato pancakes. I regretted ordering the French toast. It had a couple of squares of breakfast cereal pressed into the side of the toast, but I had envisioned it would be completely covered and crunchy. My friend had the sweet potato pancakes but only offered me one bite, so I'll have to return soon for my own order.

I have enjoyed the older Canopy Road many times before. My visit to this new location was just 'ok'. The variety of dishes is impressive. We settled on the honey-buttered chicken tender biscuits and a skillet. The chicken does not seem fresh and seemed to have been frozen. The home fries were dry, yet plentiful. The service was acceptable. Our server said' that will be an upcharge' No less than 12 times. I was annoyed with this by the end of the meal. If you're wanting Canopy Road, go to the other location!

Very good. Had the Cabo Blt. I liked the place when they were on Kerry Forest still good.

Terrible service. We sat at a table for 15 minutes without even our drink order being taken. We didn't see our waitress until we got up to leave. Ridiculous.

A sometimes decent place for breakfast. The sweat potato pancakes are very good. I recently ordered the Belgian waffles and was GREATLY DISAPPOINTED. Undercooked, way too spongy, looking deflated. I was actually surprised they served it especially since it was early and they were not busy.

We stumbled upon this place while looking for a breakfast spot that didn't have a huge line outside. Waited for only about 15 minutes for a table for 5 of us. Place seemed pretty busy but very short staffed. We sat for a while before we were welcomed by a very friendly server. He was extremely polite and apologetic with how under staffed they were. We waited a very long time for our drinks to arrive and have our actual food order taken, by then it was lunch time. I ordered the veggie wrap with potato salad which was good. My fiancé ordered the fried chicken biscuit sandwiches with honey butter and loved them. Also at the table our friends ordered pancakes and eggs which they also enjoyed. The food was good, just took forever to arrive. Tables were not turning very fast here, be prepared to wait. We understand completely when places are busy but don't feel that's an excuse to give every table sat. Slow all around but at least everyone was very polite and kind.
