No longer is this place El Toro, the bull. La Marimba is a great little family restaurant. The bar has two new HDTVs hanging and the house margaritas are so yummy. Taco Tuesdays are always a winning bet when they are AYCE. So many of their recipes are traditional and passed through the generations. Check it out!

This restaurant recently changed it's name and came under new management. I had been to the old place a few years ago and it was so-so and I had not been back since. As they were advertising a name change and new management, I thought I would give them a try. The service was passable, which is why I didn't give it a 1 star. However, the food was sub-par. The tortilla chips had the taste of rancid oil... you know, that "old" bitterish taste. Don't know if the chips were old, or perhaps the oil they were cooked in was rancid? I liked the way the salsa was served in a little carafe and you could pour it out as needed, but the salsa itself was just bland and flavorless and tasted just like plain canned tomato puree. In fact BLAND is the word for the whole meal. You might as well eat cardboard. BLAND, BLAND, BLAND. I found myself thinking, "Where's the flavor??!!" Good Mexican cooking is FULL of wonderful flavors! But not at this place. Sadly, I wanted to like this place. I really wanted a new good Mexican restaurant for this town, but this isn't it, unless they get their act together and put out some food with FLAVOR (and not rancid oil flavor, please)! They won't be in business if they don't change, there is too much competition out there. Oh, the sangria was good, but that's it. El Toro??? I would call it EL BLANDO!!!

I think a lot of places can be hit or miss but I'm glad to say every time I've been here it was a hit. Love the friendly staff, delicious food and giant margaritas.

I ordered the spinach enchilada with black beans since their refried beans are cooked with lard and I'm a vegetarian. It was mostly inedible. Black beans were flavorless and watery and they laid the enchiladas in the beans so they were wet and super soggy. Maybe if you are a meat eater you can enjoy their food, but I sadly did not. We've been trying to find a tasty Mexican restaurant in the area since our favorite Mexican place (Santa Fe Cafe) closed, but I do not plan on returning here for a meal. It's a shame because the staff was friendly and the service was good. Wish they offered some good vegetarian options on their menu.

My first requirement of any Mexican restaurant is how they do on their Margaritas. It's not complicated to make a decent drink. When you're going to charge me $10.00 for a drink it should be well made and include some alcohol. On this they fail miserably. Absolutely minimal amount of tequila in my grande margarita. My guest had two grandes. She had the same reaction. On this they get an epic fail. The food was acceptable for an Americanized Mexican restaurant, but no better. We will not return and would never recommend this restaurant. Learn how to make an acceptable margarita. I'm embarrassed for you and your lack of effort in this regard. I'm new to this area and wonder how the locals can accept this mediocrity. The margaritas were absolutely terrible, bordering on a rip off.

The food is no better or worse than the 100+ Mexican restaurants I've been to in the last 5 years. The salsa is much better than average. The Margaritas (not the one made with 'stock' mix) are as good as any I've had. If anyone complains about 'house' margaritas they really meed to get a life. Most importantly, the people working for the establishment are genuine hard working people who want to please their customers. And I really appreciate this. I will continue to return to this place in spite of the fact there are several alternatives to choose from in the area.

It doesn't matter how good the food may be or the drinks may be.........when a server comes to the table with the food and is TALKING ON HIS CELL PHONE while doing so, it's time for a drastic change. Like maybe shut it's doors. He brings a bowl of soup without a spoon and we had to interupt him to ask for a spoon. after he brings the spoon and my date startd to eat the soup he finds the original spoon at the bottom of the bowl! Mr Manager/Owner should rethink his career choices.

My sister lives in Palm City and brought me here a few years ago so whenever I travel to see her, this is where we go to eat. They bring chips and salsa as soon as you arrive so you have something to munch on while looking the menu over. The chips are really good, but the salsa looks like it came out of a jar. We tried an appetizer today but were not impressed. The Queso Fundido was terrible, it had a horrid consistency. I always get the same meal, as I love it THAT much. The Camarones A La Diabla. I look for this dish on every Mexican menu and can never find it anywhere but El Toro. As long as they don't remove that dish from the menu, I will return again and again. The service has always been great but they could do with updating the decor.

I really like the salsa and chips here. It's hotter than what I'm used to but with some sprite or something you can handle it. I like to get the Pollo Asado. The chicken is usually moist and i like the rice and beans you get with it. Not a fan of the fried ice cream here though and i haven't gotten around to tasting the drinks but the bar is usually busy, so that's gotta be a good sign.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
