It took us less than 3 minutes to be shown to our booth. We waited nearly and half hour or more for our food. The drinks were good! The food wasn't the best and I have had better. The waitress did an ok job of seeing about us and making sure everything was ok. She knew we had been sitting for awhile.

I love this place for shrimp,I stopped there on my way home from Savannah Ga .where i ate shrimp ,and let me say I got the best shrimp here.I will always stop in.

The food was served hot and delicious, always a fan of their fried shrimp. They would have been a 5 star restaurant if they rip out the old carpet replace the weird tile ceiling and replace the 70's paneling. Don't get in a hurry here the place had about 4 other couples eating and it took a long time for the food to cook. we were done eating for at least 15 min. and waiting on the check the waitress just disappeared, way under staffed, maybe she was also the cook, it took long enough for that to be the case. The food makes up for a lot of the short comings though. I'll be back!!!!

My friend and I stopped by during our road trip from Gainesville to Jacksonville. Relaxing and quiet place. Portion was good enough. Boiled Oysters tasted great! Very nice people!

My husband and I stopped here on our way through from Pennsylvania to estero Florida where our son and daughter law live. I ordered the shrimp basket and the shrimp were the best. My hubby ordered the Ashley burger and the ingredients were so fresh. Our waitress was so friendly. Good food. Wonderful southern hospitality We will definitely go again. If we lived near this town it would be our hangout

Driving from Tampa to savannah we stopped and could not believe the abundance of fresh seafood for so little money. Incredible deal!!! Recommend!!!!!

Oh Yelp, you led me so very far astray on this one. It is pretty run down and unclean on the inside. Clearly a local joint, which is usually a good thing, but we did feel like we were crashing the local retirement home cafeteria. And the food...after a forty minute wait I received the driest piece of fish I've ever tried to eat. And a bit funky tasting (I ordered the blackened tilapia). I can eat anything, but this was totally inedible. Most of the sides were good though and my companion's fried flounder was okay. Service was nice but really slow. Overall, I'd say skip this place. It really is a low end, low quality fish fry type of place. Even if you hate fast food, that'd still be a better choice in Starke.

Basic fried seafood restaurant. Fish tasty but heavily fried. Large quantities of fish at bargain prices.

I would never go here if I had my way. We have a big family and its a half way point for all of us to meet up. The service and food are just plain blah.

Old school seafood house. Huge portions and giant glasses of sweet tea. Fresh fried! Order the special

Drove by this place and we wanted to try it out from what we saw and heard people said this place was pretty good. I wasn't to disappointed either. I got the blackened grouper, it was pretty good not the best I have had it was a little dry. The guys I went with got the gator and and the fried shrimp and the gator was really tough but the shrimp was excellent. The breading tasted wonderful. I would try this place again if I come back into town or if I get a chance again while I am still here.

Family stopped here on the way from GA to Tampa. Great hushpuppies. Had fried grouper, grits, okra, shrimp...all very tasty at a great price. Not 5 stars because I don't like to season food on my plate (personal quirk) and the grits did need salt and pepper.

Where do you find a quality restaurant - open on the 4th of July? My daughter was going back to school on the 4th and I wanted to have lunch with her while driving north. Every fast food restaurant is open - but we wanted to sit down, have a real menu; relax, sit and talk and enjoy our food and company. I googled several restauants in the Starke area and found Cedar River there. I put their address in my GPS and we headed out. What a great find! In addition to fresh seafood (we both had that) - their sides are "to die for". Hush Puppies and Slaw - I'd drive back just to have those again. Seriously - if you are heading north toward Jacksonville - or coming south towards Ocala, Tampa or Orlando, put this restaurant into your address book. Right off the main highway, plenty of parking and a wonderful, cordual staff! You won't be disappointed.

Yuck. Fake crab in the crab-stuffed peppers and about a gallon of water in my frog legs.

Excellent authentic southern food served with charm and incredibly reasonably priced. An experience! Great lunch stop on your travels.

My husband and I had seafood for lunch and we loved it. Great service. We travel this way quite often and we will certainly stop there again.

Always great food, always consistant, we always leave happy with full bellies and a happy wallet. Prices are very good and service is great!

Ok, fried food is common everywhere, but we all know the batter makes a difference. The truth really is, how clean is the seafood before battered? Lazy restauRants mask their food with heavy battered, quality resturants believe the batter is an enhancer to tbeir fresh seafood. Ok, long explanation to say that the flounder, catfish and grouper where SO CLEAN! We had them fried, blackened and broiled, wonderful. Worth the money! The shrimp, blakened, and fried were cleaned, and butterflied. Oh boy, the hush puppies are Dessert, the baby limas are like my mamaws and the cheese grits are perfect. If u are a mayo loving slaw person, you'll be in heaven. If u order the fried okra, tell them extra crispy or they will serve them light brown with slimy middle. I didn't even touch my potato, no room. Homemade desserts, a local lady makes tbem, didn't try them but they past the superficial test. Y'all enjoy, don't gussy up just pull up and b surprised.

The same ole Cedar River Seafood we all love in this area. They have fresh seafood that you can pretty much get any way (but fried is my favorite!). Their hushpuppies and sides are also very good and very very yummy sweet tea! Definently one of the better places in Starke.

A little over priced for the quality of the food. I wasn't impressed with anything that I had to eat. The ranch tasted funny and my fiance's ranch tasted different than my own. My grilled shrimp and green beans were very bland with almost no seasoning. I figured this place would be incredible due to it being in a small town, but I was actually pretty dissapointed. The service was good, however.

Stopped for lunch on 2/21/15. I had the fried Tilapia and Cheese grits. The fish was very good. Unfortunately the grits were cold, and had to be sent back to be reheated (this is a problem with all Cedar Rivers). Almost had more cheese than I did grits. My wife's clam strips were greasy and not breaded very well. Decor is out dated and has not been changed since we ate there 15+ years ago. Keep driving!

I couldn't wait to pay and leave this restaurant. While there is some cute decor, it's a bit dirty. The radio had apparently broken a couple weeks ago, so it was creepily quiet. I could hear conversations 5 tables away which made us want to stay quiet. I felt out of place, and I agree with another reviewer that it felt like crashing a retirement home cafeteria. The service was good. The waitresses were all friendly and they offered everyone to go drinks which I love. The food was hit or miss. The I scallops and hush puppies were good. The vegetables were fine. The blackened shrimp was terrible. Very oily. Should have driven the extra few miles for Wendy's.
