How does brunch with sand beneath your toes sound? If you're not staying at the Sirata resort, enter the Sirata hotel area and you will be directed to make an immediate left then right. Walk down an unmarked path to the left of the pool area, and you'll run into the part of Rum Runners that is open to the public. They have several areas to choose from: a lounge area with a fireplace, an area near the pool, a covered deck and bar area, and then several tables under a tiki hut out on the sand. We opted for sand! With no hostess stand, we correctly assumed it was seat yourself. Unfortunately we arrived a little late for brunch. Nonetheless, the food menu looked decent. Drink menu looked great. We had the Sirata punch and I'd stick with that (PS: If you are here for brunch, check out the regular menu for cheaper drink prices). We both had a hard time deciding on the lunch menu. The menu had cute stories about each menu item, but ultimately there is no theme: choose from mexican (quesadillas, nachos), american (burgers, sandwiches), italian (pizzas, pastas), you get the gist here. Something for everyone! I had the open face italian sandwich which was basically a lean cuisine french bread pizza. My fiance had the italian pizza. His was a few bucks more and was really tiny for an $11 pizza. Food was OK but nothing to write home about. Service is slooooooooooow. Remember you're at the beach. Time moves slowly here, and so does the service at this restaurant, even just for drinks. If you want drinks you're better off sitting at the bar. Lucky for us we weren't in a hurry and were enjoying the scenery- which is what you're really paying for after all - so it was a pleasant experience. But don't come hungry or alternatively, be ready to order very quickly. I'd come back for the beautiful view. And maybe brunch next time, if we can make it on time!

Came here for food and drinks while at the beach. We thought the food was mediocre. The drinks were tasty but were very light on the alcohol. Gets 3 stars for its location and convenience while on the beach.

Went here for breakfast. Terrible and Overpriced! Coffee tasted like bitter hot water. Skip it & go somewhere else!

The rum runner if you have not guessed is their signature drink. I had one and my face was numb. I drink a lot of rum and this place has the drinks on point. Food is so so for the money but the drinks are worth it for sure.

Walked in here for breakfast. The view was great and our server was efficient and friendly. We weren't impressed much with food though. My breakfast sandwich was just okay. A bit greasy. The potatoes that came with it weren't good. Cut into large squares they were a bit mushy. Maybe if they were smaller, they could've been better. I tried one and left the rest on my plate. The sandwich was pretty filling, so I was happy.

We were on a beach bar crawl for my friends birthday. This was stop #5 and we were hungry and needed some drinks. Our server Brandon was very patient and took the time to answer questions. Our orders were all correct and came in a timely manner. This was definitely the best service on our day at the beach bars.

One of the best things about St. Pete beach is you can go for a walk & find great locations like this. Hungry & in a need to watch some college football, we stumbled into Rum Runners and were blown away by the food. Elena Ruz Medianoche Sanwhich is to die for! Better than any Cuban I've ever had, even in Ybor. Hubby had the Cuban which was also better than average. Whether you stay @ the hotel or going to SP beach, definitely go here for lunch, you won't regret it!

This is a nice place to have a beach side dinner as the view and location are great. The food can be hit or miss as our group was divided as to whether they liked what they ordered. The bar area is huge..might be a great spot to get friends together for evening drinks and conversation when all the kiddies have gone to bed. It's by a more kiddie friendly pool so if you are looking to really party, this place may not be the best spot ( vs. Harry's)

The best thing about St Pete Beach is that it's lined with hotels, almost every one utilizes their real estate with a beach front bar and/or restaurant (all open to the public). Among the half a dozen or so I had the pleasure of checking out Rum Runners ended up being one of my favorites and certainly the most spacious and relaxing one. If it wasn't for the drink being a little small and expensive I would have been more inclined to give them 5 stars. Do note that we didn't have any food here so the review is just for the space and drinks only. Rum Runners has a very large full bar set back farther than most of the other beach bars, they do this to leave plenty of room for their dozens of tables and picnic tables on the sand right on the beach. They're all covered by umbrellas so you can relax in the shade. There are also a couple hammocks and a couple corn hole boards set up. When me and my girlfriend came on a party sunny Thursday afternoon in early July there wasn't anyone here. She loved getting to sit in the shade and read her book while I was in the hammock sipping my rum runner. This experience really made my trip. The rum runner I got was perfect and stronger than most I had tried, it was however rather small and a little more than $8 so the value may have evened out with the less strong larger ones I had on the beach but still it felt this place was a little pricer than most. If I make it down to the area again we will make sure to come back to Rum Runners, especially if I can get one of those hammocks.

Watching FSU game Saturday night and with a minute and 30 seconds a worker tries to tell us he's shutting the TV off! Drinks overpriced and service was unacceptable. I would never recommend this place to anyone!

Average hotel, average food. Nothing wrong with that if you're looking to save cash. I had mamas favorite wrap and a lemonade. Very basic taste and watered down lemonade. Excellent service and people though. Beautiful weather.

Was alright, but nothing special. Bartenders were not friendly at all. Only had drinks so I can't speak to their food. We did a one and done and went next door.

The food is good but the service is horrible. We live on the beach and tried it several times and it is always the same, good food but horrible service. Hope it changes because we do like the atmosphere.

We've been twice, so this review is written with both visits in mind. On our first visit, we were only drinking, and felt that the $8 Rum Runner drinks were a good value for the money. Strong and satisfying. Robert at the bar made our experience enjoyable. The second visit was for food. We had the spicy shrimp appetizer, which came with a doctored cup of Texas Pete hot sauce (something was used to thicken it, perhaps mayo?), which really went well with the fried shrimp. I had the California flatbread, which was undercooked (crust was soggy), but otherwise quite flavorful. My wife had the chicken sandwich, which was impossible to cut, very difficult to chew, but came with some great crisp, which she ate instead.

During our last trip to St Pete Beach we grabbed some lunch at Rum Runners before heading to the airport. Although the place is overpriced, the food was good, and the location and atmosphere was great. We decided to possibly make this a tradition, and once again stopped by on our last day of our vacation for lunch. Not a good idea. This place is located at the Sirata resort right off the beach. Upon arrival we were greeted by a rude parking attendant that told us we would have to pay $15, cash only, to park and we would have to park in a lot across the street and not at the resort. Just last year we parked for free at the resort. After telling her we were there for lunch, she informed us that the $15 would be credited to our bill, so we paid up. We sat down at an empty table (there were lots of them , not very busy) and waited for a server to come by. Then we waited, and waited some more. Finally after about 10 minutes, and completely going over the menus, my fiancee got up went to the bar and asked when a server would be by. The bartender told her someone should have already came by but would inform them we were there. Another 10 minutes goes by and still no server. At this point we were ready to leave, but if we had, we would be out the $15 we paid for parking. Once again my fiancee gets up and asks where the server is, and once again she is told they would be by shortly. Finally a couple minutes later we see the waitress heading over. To our surprise, on her way over she stops by other tables to straighten chairs and tables nobody is using, then grabs the check from a nearby table before heading over to us. We order two drinks, a conch fritter appetizer, a fruit bowl and quesadilla all at once since the service was so slow. I noticed as we were ordering, she was not writing anything down. Sure enough, after we finished she looked confused and asked "what was the first thing you ordered again?". After that my expectations were lowered even more. She brought out our drinks which were sub-par. I ordered a Pina Colada that was served in a small plastic cup and was all liquid, not even close to being partially frozen. As we waited for our food, more tables filled up around us. I saw one other server come out to one table, but our waitress was handling the rest. When the food arrived some of it was good, some of it was not. The conch fritters were very good, but the quesadilla was barely warm. She came back to the table a few times and chatted with us, she was nice, but she was either really slow or really overwhelmed. For our meal we paid over $55 before tip, and that was with the $15 credit for parking. Not a great option if you are looking for something priced well, or if you have somewhere to be. Pros: -Great location with beautiful view -Decent food (if served at correct temperature) Cons: -Small menu -Severely overpriced for what you get -Sloooooooooow service -Parking is a hassle if not staying at the resort or somewhere close by

Well the older bartender guy isn't too friendly ... We waited 10 min before he acknowledged us... As he was flirting with the two ladies at the other end of the bar... Mind you we are two of the four patrons at the bar :( Anywho... Ol'Bar dude asked me for my ID... Mind you.. I ordered a frozen mango VIRGIN Daiquiri! My friend got a draft and we closed out ... Going to our other bar by our room Harry's (They Rock!"... "Bout as friendly as a box of rocks"- that was my tip... My review... Fire That bartender!

Just came here for a drink after being on the beach. The bartender was not very friendly, and the beer selection is pretty sad. The other staff seemed nice, and the pool is very nice at the hotel it's attached to. Lots of space outside too.

This beachfront bar and restaurant is part of the Sirata Beach Resort property where we stayed for two nights. The restaurant and bar are open to anyone. The atmosphere is super casual. Some tables are in the sand and swimsuits and bare feet are acceptable. Seats under the pavilion will give guests a break from the sun. A couple of cozy lounge areas with comfy couches and chairs are nice for evening drinks while listening to local musicians playing on the small stage. There is also a fireplace area for chilly nights right next to the stage. Our first trip here we had a couple of rum runners (seemed appropriate). They were very strong and tasty. We had some chicken wings in a jerk sauce. There was nothing about the sauce that was authentic Caribbean, but it was tasty. We also had a turkey club sandwich and chips and the coconut shrimp. The sandwich was tasty and large with a middle layer of bread. The coconut shrimp were on the small side, but crispy and flavorful. For lunch the next day we both had burgers and fries. Both burgers were very good, cooked to order, and served on an onion roll for extra flavor. Sweet potato steak fries were crispy on the outside and hot on the inside. Everything was excellent. Service at both meals was prompt and casual. The bartenders and waitstaff kept us in drinks one night while watching a local band and were always friendly and helpful. And smiling. We will definitely come back if we're back in the area.

My wife and I stopped in for dinner and drinks and loved it. We sat outside on the beach, which was awesome, and had a great time. The namesake drink is excellent, our waiter Austin was fantastic, and our meals were great (chicken nacho appetizers, dutch burger and medianoche sandwich, and a slice of key lime pie ti share). Can't wait to come back!

I am in love with this place. Each element is 3-4 stars but put together and facing the beach = perfect vaca spot! We stayed at Sirata for the weekend and were not expecting much by the way of food - have been to other resorts and paid premium prices for meh food. The menu is beach bar grub so know what to expect. The salads are not the best but if you're splurging the Cubans, burgers and apps are really good! Coconut shrimp was fresh, crispy and had a sweet/tangy sauce. I am not a huge fan of seafood but could eat these all day long. Cuban bread is local and they have a few choices for the purists and Tampa style folks out there. Dad had the burger and split it with my son. It disappeared in seconds so I believe them that it was good. Drinks are also really tasty and range from $7-12 where other beachy drinks in the area are pushing $15-20. I really like that they have a pool, hot tub live entertainment pretty much all day. Can't beat it, especially if you're staying at the hotel!

If you eat at Sirata Beach Resort, this is a good start. While I have ate small food. It's mostly very good. The flat beard pizza was ok. Not adult food or wuth price. But several things are very good. Top thing was smoked fish dip. It's an appetizer but dione exceptionally well. A great light diner was this and shrimp quesadilla. It's a hard thought about shrimp, roasted corn and black beans on tortilla, so many things could go wrong. Fortunately, it's all good. Another great find was the garlic parmesan wings, word is yum. Oh yeah, the rum runner I'd really good. Better on second or third. The service is great. Plenty of suggestions. Friendly staff paid with view of beach.

I love this place! We come every year for our anniversary. The hotel is wonderful and the service is awesome. Our waitress, Grisette was so awesome, even getting me rice to put my phone in as I mistakenly wore it into the ocean. I highly recommend this Hotel Sirata and Rum Runners. We returned for supper and Wendy was a great waitress too!

Out of at least about 35 tables at this restaurant on a Sunday night, about 8 were occupied and about 8 workers were there. We sat down (seat yourself) and we were not waited on for about 15 minutes until we finally decided to get up and leave. Even as we were walking out, out of the 4 or 5 servers standing there, we were still not acknowledged. As vacationers from out of town, this is not what we expect out of any restaurant we go to on the strip outside of fast food. On our next visit to St Pete, we will definitely not be returning to Rum Runners. Awful service and a huge waste of time.

There was a head of a roach in my diet coke and a hair in my quesadilla. The beach atmosphere was its only saving grace. The waitress was average. Mango cheesecake was good and would order again.
